This is the Representation—This is the Generation

This is the Representation — This is the Generation

Martin Cecil  April 26, 1979  Assembly

We are all right here in the earthly sense, and I trust as much right here in the heavenly sense. It is because we are right here in the earthly sense, and to the extent that we are also right here in the heavenly sense, that we are in position to do something which has not been possible to those who are not right here in the earthly sense. We are always right somewhere in the earthly sense, and it is because we are right somewhere in the earthly sense that something can be done that otherwise could not be done.

Let us never deny the value of our earthly positioning. We recognize that this positioning changes from time to time, or a new earthly environment comes to enfold us. But it is because we are where we are, wherever that may be, that we have value. We never not have value because we are not somewhere else, and yet this is so often the human approach, isn’t it? “I wish I was somewhere else. I could really be useful if I was over there.” The only useful place we have is always right where we are. It is made useful because we are there not only in the earthly sense but in the heavenly sense. Because we are there in the heavenly sense we have the opportunity of representing the Lord in that place. Nobody else is there in that exact positioning, just oneself. If the Lord is to be represented then, there is no one else to do it.

We need to have this consciousness of our worth, our heavenly worth, our spiritual worth as the Lord’s representative. As angels we are always that. We represent the Lord where we are, and we share His outlook where we are. This is His outlook if we are representing Him. He views what is present with us because our viewpoint is aligned with His. If our viewpoint is out of alignment with His, then He has no means of viewing what is present in our area of responsibility. That is right, isn’t it? Every time that our viewpoint, our outlook, ceases to represent His, presumably because we have become involved once more in the human nature attitudes and viewpoints, then we blind the Lord to that extent in our particular point of positioning and responsibility. He is not in position to see what is there because we do not let Him.

Have you ever looked at it this way? It is true, isn’t it? The Lord sees through our eyes when our eyes are in alignment with His. We are not expecting Him, surely, to change His vision to be in alignment with ours. This is what a lot of human beings do, of course, and they bring it to point sometimes in what they call prayer: “God, you need to see things my way.” He doesn’t need to see things in the human nature way at all. He’s not interested. He needs to see things as they really are. So if He is to see things as they really are He needs the earthly eyes to do it, but the earthly eyes must be looking where He is looking and seeing as He sees, having exactly the same outlook and viewpoint. We are here to be in alignment with that. If we are, then we have no separate viewpoint. We do not try to foist a human viewpoint on the Lord. What we see He sees. What our viewpoint is is His viewpoint, when we are willing to let it be so, when we stop trying to slip in our particular brand of ‘druthers’. “Lord, you need to see things my way.” No He doesn’t. He needs to see things His way, and the only method for this to occur is for a facility to be provided for Him which is in alignment with His viewpoint.

We have emphasized the necessity of hearing the Tone, of coming into alignment with the outlook of the Lord, of sharing His viewpoint. When we share His viewpoint we have no viewpoint separate from His. It is exactly our viewpoint too. But we cannot take credit for that viewpoint. It is merely that we have offered Him the facility by which He can see, and we have withdrawn any amendments to His view. We let it be absolutely His. Then we do not need any separate human viewpoint, and we do not try to maintain any. And we do not imagine that our opinions and our human attitudes have any validity whatsoever. They are all chaff, to be blown easily away. What is the point of hanging on to the chaff? It blinds the Lord, because we are blind. If we are blind the Lord is blind insofar as we are concerned. He cannot see what He needs to see by reason of our presence in the particular circumstance where we are.

Sharing the Lord’s outlook is not only a broad view, a far perspective, so to speak, but a view which relates to the immediate circumstance. In fact this is what is more important, because if there are a number of angels on earth sharing the privilege of offering the Lord true vision He will have an overall view. He will be able to see what needs to be seen in each circumstance, and insofar as He is concerned, in the Archangelic sense, it is One View. If there is an accurate view in each circumstance, and it all comes together in the viewpoint of the Lord, then He has a balanced overall view. It comes on this basis. It does not come because the Lord has some particular, individual form of manifestation—He is going to see everything through that one individual form of manifestation. He had an individual form of manifestation by reason of Jesus, but He was in no position to see truly what was present in the details of human living everywhere on earth. To do that requires angels everywhere on earth.

We see the vital importance, then, of our own individual circumstances. Let us never deny the Lord the opportunity of seeing our individual circumstances and of providing what is necessary for that individual circumstance. Let us not deny Him that vision because we take the attitude that we should not be there. We are saying in effect, “Well, the Lord should not be in this circumstance. The Lord should desert this circumstance.” Do we have such authority, do you think, as human beings, to tell the Lord what He should desert or what He shouldn’t? Of course not! Wherever we are, that is exactly where we should be, and that is exactly where the Lord needs our vision, our understanding, aligned with His outlook. That is our whole responsibility. That is what we are there for. That is what we are on earth for. Because it is the Lord’s vision, when we let Him have it, we begin to participate in something much broader—that is true. We begin to see our immediate circumstance in its relationship with the larger picture. That is only possible when we are in alignment with the Lord’s outlook. Then we begin to share His outlook, which actually includes far more.

There are some most beautiful words recorded in the 24th Psalm which provide anyone, us particularly, with an understanding outlook aligned with the Lord. This is an expression of our own attitude when we are indeed providing true representation of the Lord with respect to His viewpoint and with respect to His action. You remember the words: “The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” This is our attitude, because it is the truth with respect to the Lord. Insofar as He is concerned this is the fact of the matter, and we agree. Our agreement can be most valuable because we are right here on earth and we provide therefore a facility by which this truth may be proven out. From our standpoint the earth is the Lord’s and we are here simply for the purpose of revealing that fact. “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof.” What that fullness is may be far larger than we necessarily see at the moment. We see enough, and insofar as the earth is concerned, that is our circumstance, that is our immediate contact with the earth; we don’t have any other. We may be capable of seeing that there is a planet there, but we are related to that planet just at one point, and it is that one point that is the Lord’s, because that one point is not separate from the whole planet and the whole planet is the Lord’s.

From our standpoint we have the handle by which this may be proven out, we have the contact, we have the means of revealing the truth that the earth is the Lord’s. We know it. But the earth has been held out from the Lord by human nature long enough. This is definitely our attitude: It is quite long enough. “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein”—all human beings, who should be MAN, but also everything that dwells in the earth. It is all the Lord’s. And our whole approach to our living here on earth is from the standpoint of this outlook. This is our outlook, because it is the truth that “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” This is the reason for our presence here. We could say to restore the earth and they that dwell therein to the Lord, to dissolve the human nature rebellion—could we call it? This is our task, this is our outlook. This is the reason why we were sent here by the Lord. So we know why we were sent here. This is our commission, this is our responsibility, our stewardship. Because of this we have the authority by which it may be proven out. We are here to exercise that authority. Not according to some human nature idea of what should happen, but the way we know it should happen, in the sounding of the Tone in the detailed living of our own lives.

“For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.” What do you think that means? It means fundamentally that MAN, as he was created to be, is responsible for the state of affairs relative to the earth and the world. Here mention is being made of earthly consciousness, human consciousness, the sole means by which the Lord’s authority can be extended into the earth, and into the world, to prove, to reveal, to establish, the truth that “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world and they that dwell therein.” It is done by reason of human consciousness. It was established this way; this is the way it was created to be. Man’s presence on earth is for this reason. And to restore this truth in manifest fact is our responsibility. For this cause came we into the world. You and others are awakening increasingly to this truth. To the extent that you are awakening to it, to that extent the angel is coming forth and the restoration is in motion. Here is our question, as angels carrying the authority and assuming the responsibility: “Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place?” Generally human beings look at that question as though it was being addressed to themselves: “Well, shall I do it?” That is not the way we see it. If we have the true viewpoint, the true outlook, this is our question of the peoples of the world: “Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? Who shall stand in his holy place?” We know the answer. The answer is given here, and our attitude, our viewpoint, is in alignment with it. We are here to open the door in this regard, so that there may be those who ascend into the hill of the Lord and stand in His holy place with us. “He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart.”

“Whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Likewise, “What ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven.” What needs to be loosed into expression out of heaven cannot be loosed into expression out of heaven as long as the earth is bound. If in the external sense we maintain physical and mental structures according to the ideas of human nature, then if we claim to have an interest in letting the spirit find expression we are saying in effect that the expression must be according to our structures. If we are stiff, then the expression of the spirit must be stiff; it must conform to our rigidities. Well, we need to do something about our rigidities then, in order that there may be a greater flexibility for the spirit to have its way. So what you are willing to loose on earth will be loosed in heaven; there will be the freedom for the expression of the spirit. But if you maintain a bound condition on earth, then the spirit is bound in heaven and never gets out.

Lillian mentioned something about the need for space. This sometimes may appear to various ones to be a contradiction relative to our external experience in the development of what is unfolding in this ministry, at least in some ways. “Where’s the space? We need space!” Well, we can give each other space, can’t we, even though we may be physically close together at times. What do we mean then by space? One of the supposedly closest associations between human beings is that which is spoken of as marriage, and it is often the place where there is least space—not because it has to be that way, but because of the human nature attitudes that make it that way. There are those who imagine that, “Well, you couldn’t have a state of oneness if it is all space.” What about the universe? There is one universe. It is one whole, all integrated, all coordinated, and yet there is far more space than anything else.

Fear holds human beings in little boxes

We need to give each other space. We do not ever possess each other. Wives sometimes think that they possess their husbands. Forget it! It may be a valuable association if there are angels present. If there are angels present they know very well that they do not possess each other. They are there in that configuration to let something creative happen, that’s all. And the particular configuration that may be the experience now is unlikely to be so for eternity, is it? Human beings sometimes think of marriage as being for a lifetime—that is not very long actually. Angels come on earth to achieve something, and they will achieve something in a variety of ways. One of these ways may require the close association of a man and a woman on a more or less stable basis, a steady basis. Because of this there is a proper relationship there, a proper association, but it will not be there because either of the angels imagines that he possesses the other one. It will be there because there is a proper complement there. Oneness is never experienced by exclusiveness. That should be obvious enough. If one excludes somebody, then oneness is prevented. Oh, how fearful little human nature is about the terrible things that it imagines might happen if it relaxed its spasmodic grip and let go. Only on the basis of the letting go of human consciousness can the experience of the truth be known. Otherwise we are always trying to get the truth to express through our little rigid pattern that we are holding on to. Let us give each other space.

Now from the standpoint of this attitude which is emphasized in the verses I have read out of the 24th Psalm so far, the concern is to return all to the Lord. That is the primary undertaking. That summarizes the whole reason for our presence here: “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness; the world, and they that dwell therein.” And we are going to see to it that that is revealed as being the fact. All right, in our handling of others, in the sense of the human consciousness, we are doing what may be done to return that to the Lord, in whomsoever it is. We need to see this so that we do not at any time imagine that we are returning something to ourselves. For example, there have been those rather adolescent servers who have thought that the response, at least of some of the females in the particular group in question, somehow belonged to them. “You need to respond to me; you need to be totally open to me.” Is that what we are here for? No, we are here to return everything to the Lord! Not to corral it on the way and say, “This is mine, I’m going to possess it.” Return all to the Lord.

I suppose in a symbolic sense I may occupy a particular position in this regard, which should make it fairly easy for the right attitude to be taken by anyone. Return all the response to me in representation of the Lord. Not that I am demanding it. But everything needs to be returned to the Lord. Do you think I am going to corral it all and keep it for myself? Do you think this ministry would have continued to emerge as it has if that had been my attitude at any time? As far as I am concerned it all belongs to the Lord, but it seems that human beings, generally speaking, in their earthly consciousness need to have something a little more specific, and so the Lord has provided something specific. Here it is! The whole purpose is to return everything to the Lord. “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” One cannot grab it off on its way back to the Lord. We are here to return everything to the Lord.

In returning everything to the Lord, when we have that absolute attitude so that we have no personal axes to grind at all, we may find something emerging that allows a greater release of the power and the authority by which the world is returned to the Lord, and this obviously involves other incarnate angels. We work together on this basis. You can see that in a sense it is something absolutely impersonal. We can say that. That is the approach. That is the attitude. But it is discovered to be quite personal, because we are the focus for the Lord's outlook and viewpoint and action in the particular place where we are. But this outlook and action is entirely for the purpose of returning everyone and everything to the Lord.

There is another aspect of this that I might touch on for a moment, because people put great store by the way they feel about each other. “Oh, I feel some sort of a relationship here.” There are all kinds of vibrational factors involved in the earthly sense, on the one hand, which establish patterns of what one might call affinity, and these have absolutely nothing to do with the purpose for which we are here, and yet human beings tend to build them up into great things—“Oh look, this is magnificent! This is going to be so useful to the Lord”—when all it is is a distraction. It is utterly meaningless. I don’t suppose there is one of us here, including myself, who could not say that there are feelings of affinity with certain people more than with others. From my own standpoint I disregard that entirely. You haven’t noticed me, I don’t think, making a big thing out of it along the way. You haven’t known about it anyway.

Then, from the angelic standpoint, it is true that there are certain angelic associations, which have equally nothing whatsoever to do with the job we are here to accomplish. If there was a restored state, then that might be considered and taken into account, but at this point it is not. There are those who are looking for their soul mates, or something of this sort. Forget it! If this were the factual situation and there were two angels who had a particular association in the heavenly sense—in the eternal sense, that needs to be set aside for the job that we are incarnate on earth to do now. Everything is subservient to that. So we do not consult our human feelings with respect to “this person or that person would be more pleasing to me.” And we do not even consult what is true angelically speaking. We simply consider what is required under this particular circumstance that the earth might be restored to the Lord, the world, and they that dwell therein. That is all. This sort of puts a kibosh on romance, doesn’t it? And yet we do find that when we do the job we are here to do, it is a very enjoyable process because we wouldn’t be doing anything else. We have no desire to do anything else. It all fits in so beautifully, but not according to some human nature view of things, and not even according to some actual angelic state, but according to what is necessary in the circumstance as it is—and it is a very mixed-up circumstance. So we are not shopping around to fulfill our own supposed divine designs. The revelation of what in reality is, from the Divine standpoint, is not in expression yet. If we want to be a bit self-centered about it I suppose you could say, “Well we’d better get busy now and get it into expression. Then we will be able to do all these other things!”

“He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart”—purity of heart is really what I have been talking about, not this mixed-up, adulterous state that human beings desperately try to keep alive for their own satisfaction. It does not prove to be very satisfactory, but still they try. Well, we are not here to do this. We are here for a totally different reason. And the former things are allowed simply to pass away, that we may discover what is right and fitting in the fulfillment of the commission which has been given into our hands individually and together. So we know that those who are going to participate with us must have clean hands and pure hearts. We provide what is necessary to let this happen—not for our own advantage, not for our own benefit, but because this is the process of returning everything to the Lord.

“… who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the Lord.” The blessing of what? Spiritual expression, isn’t it? The spirit of blessing is the spirit of spiritual expression. “He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.” That is right expression of living, mentally and physically. “This is the generation of them that seek him.” There certainly are those that seek Him in the world. It is because of this that the world can be restored to the Lord. “This is the generation of them that seek him.” We have been talking about generation—the generation of the essential substance. “This is the generation … that seek thy face, O Jacob,” that seek the experience of this Body by which the Archangel incarnates on earth. “Thy face,” the face of the Lord on earth in expression.

“Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.” We have seen how this does relate to the generation of substance, and how it relates to the point of initiation of the greater generation of substance at all levels. It relates to the opening of the First Seal, but it relates to the opening of all the Seals. The First Seal must be opened first. It is opened because there is a control and dominion established angelically speaking. It is not opened on any basis that human nature can undertake. Human nature has kept it firmly closed. The Seals are opened for the Lord. They are opened to provide the essential facility, the essential generation of substance which permits the essential power to manifest, by which the earth comes again to the Lord, the world and they that dwell therein. Each individual has this responsibility in a personal sense, and only when there is the experience, as we have seen, in this personal sense can there be anything beyond that has any meaning or purpose. Then we begin to find that there are patterns of association which have meaning, but they only have meaning relative to this one purpose—the one purpose for which we are here: to restore the earth, and the world, and everyone who dwells in the world, to the Lord.

Now those who will not be restored to the Lord, by reason of their own choices, must necessarily disintegrate, be dissolved. How many shall return to the Lord? Who knows? Our concern is to return all to the Lord, if possible. We may have a few reservations in consciousness as to this possibility, but our total concern is to return everything to the Lord, and what will not be returned at one level will be returned at another level, that’s all. What will not be returned in human form, for instance, may be returned in mineral form perhaps, or in the form of vegetation, or in the form of animals, whatever. But it all has to be returned to the Lord. And of course that fulfillment comes springing out of agreement, because there is a true Body for the Incarnation of the Archangel, whose viewpoint and outlook and action are provided for. The former things pass away, praise the Lord! All things are made new, praise the Lord! This is what we are here to do. We share the vision and the outlook and the action of the Lord in these matters, both while we are here together in this particular Assembly and while we continue together in whatever situation we may find ourselves in the larger body. It is so because we accept the circumstance where we are and permit the fulfillment to occur by reason of our presence in that circumstance.

The Quality Of Kindness

The  Quality  Of  Kindness

Martin Cecil  January 28, 1961

“The spirit of God in action through human form generates feeling in human form,

so that the words and the acts are filled with feeling.

Our Master's revelation of love in action on earth included, of course, the characteristic of kindness. Reading the record as it has come down to us, as we maintain attunement with the spirit of God ourselves, we become aware of that wonderful quality in Him—kindness. And yet, as you also know, He had some pretty hard words to say on occasion—He spoke roughly, very roughly. I suppose those who heard, to whom the words were directed, could have said, from the human standpoint, that they were unkind words; but they were not. They were kind words. They gave an opportunity for those who heard them to awaken to that which was present in themselves. It was apparent that most of those to whom the words were directed did not awaken, and consequently they were incensed and indignant that anyone would speak to them so, and it increased their intent to do away with Him. But the words were in fact spoken in the spirit of love, which includes the quality of kindness. If they did not awaken, He knew very well what would happen. It would not have been kind for Him to leave them in that state, seeing that the opportunity presented itself for Him to do something about it. And not only this, but there were other things in relationship to His ministry as a whole which required that such words should be spoken, that the line of demarcation should be made clear, so that there could be no misunderstanding. And I think, even though the words which have come down to us may not have been actually His words, nevertheless they convey something of what He said, and they certainly convey something of the spirit which was moving through Him at the time they were said.

So we need to remember that kindness may appear to be cruel to those who rebel against the spirit of God. The very moment a person stops rebelling and begins to acknowledge the truth of the words that are spoken, he realizes that they are kind. Such an individual will take the attitude, “How awful it would have been to be left in that state without being made aware of it.” So there are occasions when kindness takes the form of seemingly hard words, or hard actions. Here again, then, we cannot judge by the outer form. If it is the spirit of God in action, then the form will be right. As we find what it means to maintain attunement with the spirit of God we will let that form be brought forth with an understanding of the sense of the fitness of things, regardless of the human mind's tendency to judge.

Now, we are walking on rather delicate ground here, because the self-active mind likes to indulge itself in expression which certainly is anything but kind. If it imagines that it can excuse itself for such expression on the basis of the fact that, “Well I'm just being cruel to be kind,” that keeps the individual concerned moving in the direction of perdition. There must first be a keen and consistent attunement with the spirit of God, and an awareness of it. There cannot be that attunement if the individual is subject to his or her own emotions. There must be a clear pattern in that regard. But when there is the attunement, when the spirit is allowed to take its right form according to the need of the moment, and that need of the moment calls forth something that is seemingly hard, a current of feeling will be moving through that expression. That which is brought forth will not be brought forth by reason of the feeling. It will be brought forth by reason of the spirit of God, but it would not be an expression of the spirit of God if there was no feeling moving through it. Always, when there is attunement with the spirit of God, so that that which finds expression through the individual is of the spirit of God, it is accompanied by feeling. It is not a cold, hard, unfeeling thing.

When you read our Master's words you have a very distinct awareness of a strong current of feeling moving through them. He was not just speaking words. There was something really driving home, and that can only be achieved through the intensification of the current of feeling brought forth by the movement of the spirit of God; not brought forth by reaction to the circumstance, and yet to the unknowing there may be something which seems to be the same thing, but it is not.

There are those who have taken the attitude that when our Master drove the moneychangers out of the Temple He had lost His temper, and they have tended to glory in that and say, “Well look how human He was!” He was Divine. The divine expression appeared through the human form, but the expression which appeared was not human. When He drove the moneychangers out of the Temple there was power in what He did. Presumably they came back in again and got back into business, but for the moment they were certainly aware that something had hit them: the spirit of God in action through human form.

The spirit of God in action through human form generates feeling in human form, so that the words and the acts are filled with feeling. In that case there was certainly a feeling of indignation. There is that which is referred to as “righteous indignation,” and human beings use this as an excuse for their reactions to external circumstances. “Oh,” they say, “but this was unfair, so I had righteous indignation”—a reaction to the unfairness. That is wrong, that is destructive. It is not an evidence of the working of the spirit of God but an evidence of the working of the spirits of this world. When there is the working of the spirit of God there is no loss of control and the individual is perfectly capable, at any moment, of letting the current of feeling settle down. He is not so carried away with it that he cannot stop it.

Control!—control of feeling, use of feeling. That current of feeling may manifest in different ways, according to the circumstance. I am thinking of this at the moment from the standpoint of that kindness which is the meeting of an issue on a positive basis. We need to learn how to do it, not becoming subject to our feelings and then excusing ourselves and saying, “Oh well, that was the current of the spirit.” We need to be honest. We cannot even approach the subject if we are not honest. Just as our Master had to meet issues during the course of His ministry on a very positive basis, so does that same requirement devolve upon those who follow Him, and we need to see there is kindness in such function when it appears by reason of the working of the spirit of God, taking form through us on that basis. When it takes form through us it takes form in thought, it takes form in feeling, and it takes form in whatever action is necessary. These are all aspects of form for the manifestation of the spirit of God, but the spirit of God must bring forth its own form, and human beings cannot rightly decide that “the spirit of God would act this way in this circumstance, therefore I'm going to react to the circumstance and feel thus and so and become all disturbed,” calling it righteous indignation or something else, which it is not at all in such case. It is not a right thing at all.

There is this aspect of kindness. When we function in true service it is necessary sometimes to be kind in this way. When we do so, we are meeting something at a certain vibratory level—a vibratory level that we have referred to as “coarse.” We spoke of coarse pneumaplasm. There is correct function, from the divine standpoint, at that level of pneumaplasm. There are all kinds of physical substance. It is not all one substance that human beings might classify as being pure in some fashion. We have all kinds of substance, physically speaking, in the world. The pneumaplasm that is generated from protoplasm emerges close to the vibratory level of the protoplasm, something that we might call coarse, relatively speaking. It is much finer than physical substance but it is still coarse as pneumaplasm.

Pneumaplasm is not generated jumping over all the intervening realms, so that it is immediately fine—up somewhere. There is that which is present at every level—coarse and fine. Human beings in their self-activity have been able to distort the coarse, because they could function at that level. They have, to all intents and purposes, obliterated the finer pneumaplasm insofar as their awareness and function is concerned, and they consequently, in their dealings one with another, in their conversation, in their actions, in their living, are constantly working with this coarse pneumaplasm, distorting it, making it into a worse mess than it was before. And then it comes out into form of feeling, thought, word and deed—a horrible mess in the sight of God.

And yet there is right use for that level of pneumaplasm. It is not going to be eliminated. It is needful. If it was eliminated there would not be anything to connect man with the higher levels of pneumaplasm and, consequently, with God. So, occasionally it is necessary to function at that level. We cannot entirely ignore it; we have to work with it, and when we do so, we may use words and expressions which relate to that level. But here again, let us remember that it is only right when it is the spirit of God in action, taking the form that is fitting under that circumstance.

Treasure In Heaven

Treasure  In  Heaven

Uranda  March 22, 1953 Class

I thank God for the privilege of this hour of meditation with you. We have reached a point in our considerations where we should be able to keep a unified vibrational pattern and move into a particularized consideration of certain of the Master's revelations of reality, which I would call the basic Secrets of Being. That which has gone before in our meditations provides the background and the foundation for an understanding of words that have tremendous significance and yet have had very little meaning to human beings generally. In the 6th chapter of Matthew we find this particular portrayal, beginning in the 19th verse: “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Generally speaking, as you know, human beings imagine that by various patterns of good works or sacrifice or something, they are laying up for themselves treasures to be reached in some hereafter, in some far-distant heaven; for they have forgotten the Master's word, “The kingdom of heaven is at hand.” We have recognized that heaven is the place where God rules. Wherever God's control is established, there heaven is. Wherever God is denied the privilege of control, there man has hell. We have recognized in our study of the basic principles of being that the pneumaplasmic body has what we have termed God's side. We have recognized that man's self-activity, his subjection to evil spirits, etc., can disturb man's side of the pneumaplasmic layer, but that such self-active function cannot and does not in anyone penetrate through to God's side.

There is with respect to each individual, as long as life remains in the physical body, a layer of pneumaplasmic substance in and around that individual which is completely under God's control, wherein the Divine Design is established and wherein man has not produced any distortion of any kind whatsoever. This, then, insofar as the physical realm is concerned, is man's closest contact with heaven: the realm wherein there is divine control, the realm wherein there is no distortion. In another place the Master mentioned heaven as being within. Yes, heaven is within you, but human beings have had some very vague and ambiguous concepts with respect to that particular principle of reality. But once we begin to see and know the reality of the pneumaplasmic body, and understand how pneumaplasm provides the means by which spirit unites with physical substance, we can begin to see that in the pneumaplasmic substance of your own individual being there is the reality of the dominion of God, the reality of divine control, the reality of the Kingdom of Heaven. But that realm of control must be allowed to penetrate through to your side, so that it may have meaning in relationship to you as a human being. Here the Master gives us very vital information, very important instruction: “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth.”

We see human beings, even though they think themselves to be Christians, even though they do what they think they must do in order to have a life hereafter, busily engaged in making forms, doing things on earth with the feeling, the attitude, the conviction that these things are somehow separate from God, that one cannot have heaven on earth. So, wherever any human being follows such a pattern of endeavor he is undertaking to lay up for himself treasures upon earth, depending upon what he can do with respect to the manipulation of physical substance. The approach to power in relationship to the manipulation of physical substance is, as matters now stand in the world, through money or physical wealth. By reason of money, man gains certain power to arbitrarily change, move or use physical substance as such. But that effort is based upon man's conviction that he can make things according to his own desires and purposes, for his own pleasures, without regard to the spirit of God, and that he must do the best he can here because he cannot actually enter the Kingdom of Heaven until he dies.

When we begin to realize that God has a means established and provided under the laws of Cosmic Being by which physical substance is to be controlled, is to be manipulated or changed or shaped or used, we will no longer place so much faith upon man's methods. In the world as it is we must of necessity use money, and in fact there is nothing wrong with money. Sometimes people say, “Money is the root of all evil.” But that is not true. The Bible makes no such statement. The statement is, “The love of money is the root of all evil,” not that money is. Money as such is not to be considered as having any more significance, in the sense of being the root of evil, than any other physical substance. But the love of money is the root of all evil, the love of man's method of gaining control over and manipulating material substance. When man loves man's method for controlling and manipulating material substance more than he loves God, he certainly is not in position to let divine control have any meaning, and he will be establishing designs and patterns of control according to his concepts and purposes. And no matter how good the purpose of his function may be, that will be evil, evil imaginations, because the designs that man so establishes will not conform to the beauty of design which God has established in truth. Therefore we begin to see that if we are to reach a point where God's power actually manifests through us we must have the machinery, the connecting link; we must utilize the Divine Design in coming into that pattern of function which will allow us to share God's creative activity.

In this connection we can see, realize, that there must be the machinery of reality if we are to do the things which must be done. One of the great mistakes which human beings have made in times past is to gain some idea, some concept more or less vague, of the reality of spiritual power, intellectually accept that idea to gain some idea of what the divine pattern is or should be, and then to try to function on earth in relationship to the present patterns of being, the present mechanisms of function, as if the machinery of reality were already in operation. We can cite failure after failure in relationship to good men and women, sincere and earnest, down through the centuries, where this was the basic problem. There are, for instance, those who because of spiritual or religious reasons say that we should use the power of God, the power of prayer or something else, but we should not have war, we should not participate in war. Or there are those who say, “Now, God's power is certainly adequate to provide healing of the physical body, and if we are going to be true to our realization of that fact we must not use drugs,” etc. These concepts are equally ridiculous, because from the standpoint of our function in relationship to the divine, we do not yet have the manifestation of the machinery necessary to accomplish that which human beings are inclined to attempt to accomplish. This very thing could wreck our endeavor in our service, and we would go the same way that many other earnest, sincere people have gone, because, having glimpsed an idea, having gained something of a vision, we would begin to try to act on the basis of what we think that would require, without having the machinery to do it. Once we have the machinery to do it we will be able to do it, and then we will not need the other methods. But until we do have that machinery, we had better use the best machinery that is available to us.

This does not in any sense detract from the efficacy of attunements. We are building the machinery, we are moving in the right direction, and the power of God is being made manifest. But what is required in relationship to this machinery? Human beings, enough human beings to form a Body Nucleus, perfectly centered, perfectly coordinated, having allowed all the distortions to be removed from their pneumaplasmic body, so that the Kingdom of God is actually in control in relationship to their lives. Then there will be the manifestation of that machinery. We have it partly manifest now, but in one sense we are only building a working model at the present time. We do not have the facilities, the material, the substance, in relationship to human beings, and many other factors, to build the complete thing now. We are developing a working model through which something of that divine power and purpose may manifest, and to some degree it is done now. We see the manifestation of God's power in many, many ways, but until we recognize the importance of the machinery of reality, human beings will be trying to do something which they are not equipped to do. And in that trying, while they may allow the manifestation of momentary blessings, they will most certainly produce conditions which will bring about failure.

We will, as we continue on, give more consideration to exactly what we mean by the machinery of reality, but it involves human beings who are actually under the dominion and the control of God, manifest expressions of the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. So our first responsibility is to reach that point here, individually and collectively, that we may begin to let the power of God manifest on a basis that will make it possible to do all these things which certainly should be done. We are not going to accept any substitute on any permanent basis. But to reject those things which are now in operation would certainly be foolhardy, because we do not have the machinery to do the job.

For instance, how many of you would like to have all the police officers in the United States go off duty and go on vacation, say to South America, just leave the country? How many of you would like that? Oh, we have many good people, but what about those who would take advantage of the situation? And are we in position to establish a control pattern, even in our own land, if the police force should walk off the job? We certainly are not, and there is no use in deluding ourselves into thinking that we are. We anticipate that in season such a police force will not be necessary, but now it most certainly is, and we can thank God for the police force. In exactly the same way, we must consider the problem with respect to war, or we must consider the problem with respect to illness. We cannot expect the power to manifest in and through individuals who have not reached a point of knowing how to respond to God, how to let the laws of God work, how to share in the divine outworking.

Do you think if we had sufficient power to let the greater manifestation of healing come that we could just heal anyone? Certainly not. Our Master Himself, who let the healing power of God come forth so beautifully, went into a certain district during His ministry and they said, “Why, we know this man. Is he not the son of the carpenter? Anyone who thinks that he has any special power is just silly. There is no use paying any attention to him. We know him.” And the Master left their coast without having done many wonderful works. There were people there who needed to be healed, but they were not healed. Why? Because they were not ready to do their part in relationship to the manifestation of God's healing power. So for those individuals there is certainly the need for drugs, and that is not to say that within the scope of our own program we may not at times need some drugs. However, once we begin to see the vital importance of the machinery of reality, so that we do not keep trying to do something we are not equipped to do, we can see how vitally important it is that we let that machinery be developed. And that is what we are here for, to do our part individually and collectively in so conforming with God's laws and principles of being, the Divine Design, that we may do our part in letting that power manifest, in developing the machinery by which we can begin to do those things which so sorely need to be done. But we should not in any moment delude ourselves into thinking that we are equipped to do something which we are not. If we try to do something for which we do not have the equipment we will fail, and we do not need any more failures than we have already had within the scope of this ministry.

Now we come back to the Master's words which I read to you before: “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth.” The treasure. The treasure is the valuable things. We can have material things and consider them to be very important; we can take care of them; but is the material, the physical thing, really the treasure? There is nothing wrong with having physical things, material things. We need them, and in fact without material things we cannot minister. Without a material body you are of no value on earth, no matter how perfect your God Being, no matter how willing your spirit; for spirit can have no meaning on earth except through physical substance, by reason of physical substance. So your physical body is essential to your ministry, and without it your ministry on earth would be at a close. Material things, physical things—but are those material things, the physical things, the treasure? Or is there a true treasure, something that has a greater value, within or behind or above these material things? If the highest value of which we are aware is attributed to the physical things, then our endeavors are plainly an attempt to lay up treasure on earth. But once we begin to actually know the reality of the fact that the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand and that that Kingdom of Heaven comes to us as far as the pneumaplasmic substance—it's right here in relationship to each and every one of us; it is here, within reach, at hand, available—we can begin to see that when we realize the importance of allowing the dominion of God to shape and mold those things which are established in the pneumaplasmic substance, the physical substance will begin to conform to that divinely established pattern.

As man has invented money as a means of gaining control over and manipulating physical substance, God provided pneumaplasm. Money as it is used in the world is man's substitute for pneumaplasm, because the real basis of control of physical substance—manipulating it, forming it, control over it—rests in pneumaplasm, the spirit of God working through pneumaplasm into physical substance. Now we could have money merely as a means of exchange and not have it as a substitute for pneumaplasm, if it is merely a basis of exchange by which one may maintain a pattern of relative value. But man uses money as a means of gaining control over physical substance and of manipulating it for his own purpose. He buys land, he buys steel, he buys substance to make buildings, and all the rest of it, in order to establish his own control over physical substance. Perhaps it is a factory, perhaps it is an office building, perhaps it is something else. There is nothing wrong with having a factory or an office building or a building like this; the point is not with respect to whether we should or should not have physical things—because we should. Without physical things we are helpless in this realm. But man's love for money and man's wrong use of money establish the basic cause of all evil, because man loves the substance which he has developed as a substitute for pneumaplasm and he is not loving God. He is loving—he is using the principle, but not according to the Divine Design. So instead of loving money as such, we can use money nevertheless as a means of exchange. There is nothing wrong with money, or having it or using it. I wish I had three hundred million dollars to use in the Lord's service. We could do with a little less at the moment. Any amount up to that, we would gladly accept anytime; and if you offer more, I would even consider that perhaps. In any case, there is nothing wrong with money. The only thing wrong is man's attitude toward it, man's uses of it, because man loves it instead of God, and he substitutes money to obtain control and manipulation of material things, rather than letting that control and manipulation be established on the basis which God designed. And man's method keeps material things separate from God.

Now there is a vital point, because material things are a part of creation, and just as surely as your body should have a relationship to the Creator that is correct and proper, we, as human beings, should be so functioning that every physical thing—the soil of the ground, the vegetable kingdom, the animal kingdom, the mineral kingdom—all of these things should have their proper relationship to deity. But man has cut off that proper relationship to a very high degree because he himself does not have it. But man was created as a means of establishing dominion on earth over material things, physical things, so that those physical things could have a proper relationship to deity. Man gaining control over physical substance, and manipulating it to his own purposes, has failed in that process to reestablish the proper relationship between the physical substance itself and God—because the physical substance of this chair has just as much right to an opportunity for proper relationship with God as the physical substance of my body. The physical substance of the whole earth must be brought back into proper relationship with God, and then there will be no discordant patterns of outworking in the elements, for instance.

People call storms, and various other things that arise which are beyond man's control, acts of God, as if God were responsible for them. God did not cause those so-called acts of God. Man did, because man has not allowed the elements to have their proper pattern of relationship to the Creator, where there could be dominion over the earth. So it is not a matter of getting away from physical substance or denying it, not using it. It is not a matter of feeling that physical substance is in some way harmful or sinful—not money or anything else. Physical substance may be misused, but physical substance as it is is not in any sense evil. It is something which God created, over which God's dominion was supposed to manifest. So our function is in relationship to physical substance. Our purpose, every time we make a move of any kind, must have a meaning in relationship to physical substance, the physical substance of the human body or something else. But working with this physical substance as we do, and should do and must do, we must not lay up for ourselves treasures on earth. The substance with which we work, no matter how much it is, where it is, is not our treasure; it is not the thing of highest or greatest value to us. That which makes possible the control and manipulation of substance is of more value than the substance. Man sees that basic principle and so he proceeds to love money, the substitute. Now money is not supposed to be a substitute, and we could have money without its being a substitute; but man uses it as a substitute. But we are coming back to the point where we are beginning to realize that God actually provides a means by which physical substance can and should be controlled.

Man has not recognized the means by which God, spirit, the things of the invisible, connect up with the earth and the things of the earth. He has not had awareness of how that power of God can have meaning on earth in physical substance. Yet there are various evidences that such a thing is possible. If we reject the idea, we must reject Jesus Christ, because He gave evidence that the power of God can act on physical substance. There are many other evidences. So, under God we have a recognition of the tremendous value of pneumaplasm. It is not the highest treasure—our treasure is in God's Love and Truth and Life, those things which make possible our true relationship to deity and allow the invisible to become visible—but that connecting link must be there.

In the electrical field a switch is a means by which a contact can be made or broken. Now suppose we asked Chris to go out to the transformer and throw off the switch, break the contact. The wires are still there, the light bulb would still be here, the recorder would still be here. Various things on the place, like electric motors, would be here, everything ready to operate. The physical, material things would be there, but if there was no current getting through they would not operate. A light bulb would have only potential value, an electric motor or anything else, until that connection with the source of power was established. Exactly the same principle is at work in relationship to our lives. You are human beings, light bulbs, electric motors or what have you. You have a potential. The moment you are really connected up, and the power from the source is getting through you into the earth, you have value; you can go to work. But without that connection it will not work, you will not work in the divine pattern. You can move around because you have physical life, a little higher form of it than the animal kingdom, but it does not last too long. And people call that living, when it is merely existing. We need to begin to see that, while we have the material things here to work with, we must get them connected up with the source of power. Your life, your physical body with the physical life that is in it, must be connected up to the source of power. And then, after we had been in darkness here for a little time, Chris would throw the switch and make the connection; we would have light again, we could see one another, the electric motors would begin to run, and the refrigerators perhaps, or something else, the recorders, could operate once more. So it is with all material things, including you, the human being.

Man, having a physical body, being a human being, is inclined to think of physical substance as having primary importance. It is important, but not as important as that which makes possible its use. Suppose all of the electric power plants anywhere in our vicinity were suddenly put out of commission. Of what value would our light bulbs, our electric motors, etc., be? Potential, yes, but for the time being of no value. They are of value, but not in the sense that they are the primary treasure. And it is in this that man has made such a tragic mistake. “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth … but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven.” Now there is nothing wrong with having treasures, with recognizing something of primary value and importance, but the physical substance becomes of secondary value; there is something higher. Of course, we can go to the point of saying “God,” we can go to the point of saying “all of that which is of the invisible realm,” but our treasure is to be laid up in heaven, and heaven is at hand; not a far-distant heaven but the heaven that is at hand, within reach, available to us, in the sense of the pneumaplasmic substance.

And when we begin to lay up treasure in heaven, what is it the Master says here? “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” What is your heart? It is your feeling nature, your feeling realm, the emotional realm, that which has the capacity of feeling and appreciation. And when the feeling pattern in you establishes the right pattern in your pneumaplasmic substance, so that the things of God start coming through to you, they will begin to manifest first in heaven. You can keep them from manifesting in your heaven, because it is not really your heaven until your side of the pneumaplasmic layer is under divine control. Even though heaven is within you, it is not your heaven until you let your side of the pneumaplasmic layer come under divine control. Now that which is formed in pneumaplasm is to the human eye ordinarily invisible. If you have ever seen particular radiation from me, for instance, what is it? Pneumaplasmic substance. I know quite a number of you have seen it, but you do not have to see it to know that it is there. But that which is shaped in the pneumaplasmic substance with the divine control behind it, that which is patterned there so that it is through on your side, will begin to control physical substance, because physical substance cannot refuse. Physical substance is so designed that it must respond to that control and be manipulated according to that design, whatever it is. There is no intelligence in the physical substance to make it refuse, except in the level of human beings where man uses his God-given talents to fight against God. But physical substance, the substance of the earth, substance of all kinds, is subject to that control, that dominion, once it is established on your side of the pneumaplasmic layer.

Now when the Master was talking about heaven, He was talking about the heaven that is at hand to you; not heaven as it is with the Central Point of All Deity, not heaven as it is far away, not heaven as it relates to someone else even; your heaven, your part of heaven, the part of heaven for which you are responsible. And you are supposed to lay up your treasure in heaven, to shape it and mold it, to let it be in the pneumaplasmic sphere of your own being. If you try to shape this pneumaplasmic substance according to your concept, your idea and desire, no matter how good your desire may be, it will spoil it, it will be evil. That is why the tree of the knowledge of good and evil is just that; man trying to do good always makes evil. Have you ever noticed that? Man trying to do good always makes evil. He thinks he will pick only the good fruit of the tree, and it always turns out to be evil, not evil perhaps as human beings ordinarily think of it but evil in the sense of being out of pattern in relationship to the Divine Design. Therefore it must be the Divine Design coming through from God's side. “Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,” your heaven, the heaven that is at hand, here, now; and where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. If the feeling pattern is centered with respect to physical things as such, there will be no feeling current, no love current, working through to God which will make possible your connection with your heaven. For when you let some evil spirit mar the surface of pneumaplasm on your side, you are shutting yourself off from your heaven. To lay up treasure in heaven? Not up there somewhere, not far away, but right here on earth.

What did the Master say? “Thy kingdom come,” Thy control come into the earth. How? By human beings in the ordinary sense trying to do God's will, trying to do God's work? No. That would be blasphemy, because man's strength is not sufficient to do God's will; he was not designed for that purpose. If he is going to say, “I will find what God's will is and then I will do it,” he blasphemes God. But he can let God's will be done in him. By what power? By God's power. If we say that man separate from God is weak, well and good. But man is not supposed to have strength to equal God in and of himself. It is most fortunate that God did not create him that way, is it not? We would have had some conflict in heaven. But man is not supposed to have the strength and the power to do these things. He is a mechanism by which that strength and power can come through into the physical realm, the means by which it can manifest. And it is God's power through you that can do God's will. Your strength is not sufficient to permit you to do God's will. It must be God's power working through you that does God's will. It must be God's intelligence working through you that makes it possible for you to comprehend all that is needful. It must be God's wisdom working through you which makes it possible for you to function in harmony with others in a proper sense of the fitness of things.

So our connecting link with God, with the invisible, is the pneumaplasmic pattern which the Master called heaven. What I have been talking to you about as the pneumaplasmic body is exactly the same thing that the Master called heaven, the heaven that is at hand, the Kingdom of Heaven that is at hand. For, as I pointed out, Divine Design and Control are present on God's side of your pneumaplasmic body. They are there already. You do not have to put them there or beg God to put them there; they are there now. And all we have to do is to begin to receive that through into ourselves on a perfectly sensible, scientific basis, something that works as surely as any law in all the universe. So instead of laying up for ourselves treasures on earth, in the ordinary human fashion, we begin to let God's provision establish the means of control over physical substance.

And physical substance loves to yield to pneumaplasmic control, always. The physical substance of your body—if your mind doesn't get in the way and spoil it—the physical substance of your body, the flesh of your body, physical substance anywhere, everywhere, physical substance loves to yield to pneumaplasmic control or the control appearing through the pneumaplasmic substance. Just as surely as a babe loves to cuddle in its mother's arms, all physical substance, without any exception anywhere—from the soil, the mineral kingdom, to the vegetable kingdom, the animal kingdom, the flesh of your own body—all physical substance loves to yield and respond to control made manifest through pneumaplasmic substance. And physical substance never refuses to respond to that control except as man gets in the way and spoils the working of the divine pattern. The machinery that God designed is perfect, and all we have to do is let it get connected up and the dominion is reestablished and the power of God begins to work in our daily life, the treasure in heaven begins to take form on earth.

You think our treasures are not to appear on earth? Of course they are. It is God's intention that our treasures should appear on earth. What did God create the earth for? For a place for man to live. He is going to have everything somewhere else? Oh no. God made the earth a paradise. He provided all the means by which the things of God could come into manifestation, so that the treasures of heaven could have form on earth. Now if we try to lay up for ourselves treasures on earth we will follow the usual pattern of man's self-active function. But when we lay up for ourselves those treasures in heaven, if we actually lay up for ourselves treasures in heaven, those heavenly treasures will be given form on earth, for that is God's purpose, God's intent, God's design. And as soon as we let physical substance actually take form according to that Divine Design which is first established in pneumaplasmic substance, our treasures will appear on earth, the things of God will be coming down from God out of heaven into the earth.

You remember the question that God asked with respect to the creation of the world? I would like to touch briefly—we will have to come back to this—upon this Great Examination: “Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?” How many times have we heard people darkening counsel by words without knowledge? “Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.” This clearly shows that from God's standpoint a man who is truly a man should be able to answer the question. “For I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.” The Lord was not mocking Job and He is not mocking us. He is asking a straightforward question and He expects a straightforward answer. And He says, “Answer thou me.”

“Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.” Now from the divine standpoint, if you have understanding, you know where you were when God laid the foundations of the earth, and you can tell me about it. If you do not know, do not try to tell me that you have understanding, because you have not. “Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?”

All the Morning Stars sang together. The morning is the beginning of a new day, is it not? It is in the east—the Morning Stars? The focalizations of consciousness which make possible the beginning of the manifestation of that which is coming out of the east, out of the future, into manifestation in form. What was the star of the east that the wise men followed when Jesus Christ was born? The star of the east, the star of focalization of consciousness established in relationship to the future, by which the things of God could come into the realm of form. They did come into the realm of form to a limited extent in Jesus and through Him, but man did not let it continue to come and increase until it could cover the whole earth. But the star of the east, the focalization of divine consciousness, direction, the Bright and Morning Star. What was it that fell? Lucifer? “How art thou fallen, O star of the morning!” Does that talk about some angel that fell? Oh no. Not some devil, as human beings think of an entity. The bright and morning star. “How art thou fallen, O Lucifer, star of the morning!” Lucifer? The fallen human consciousness that does not allow itself to be brought to focus as the Bright and Morning Star, which relates to the coming of the things of God out of heaven, out of the future, into the realm of form here on earth.

But those things come not as finished things, in the sense of physical form, because the physical substance required for that manifestation is here on earth. The vibrational factors are in heaven, but the physical substance for that manifestation is not in that heaven. Do not expect it to be there. Do not expect that physical substance to come from there. It is not there; it is here. And until the physical substance right here conforms to those patterns, those vibrational factors that are coming from God out of heaven, from out of the east, from out of the future, the Garden that God has planted eastward in Eden—until the physical substance of earth conforms to those patterns, those patterns will not have form on earth. It is the physical substance here that must be brought to a point of conforming to those patterns. And those things of God will not, cannot, never have and never will, have form on earth except as this substance here on earth is used to give form to that which is of the Divine Design.

And how shall that control be exerted into the realm of this substance? Through pneumaplasm, or through what the Master called heaven. It is one and the same thing. But what is heaven? From a scientific standpoint you had to begin to know what it was and to see that it is actual substance, that it is real, that we are not talking about something fanciful—that it is real and it has a relationship to you. And then, once you begin to recognize that, you can begin to let the physical substance of your body yield, because the physical substance loves to yield to pneumaplasm. It thrills the physical substance to yield to the pneumaplasm. It is all created that way. So until you begin to see and know these things, and until you begin to lay up treasure in heaven on a basis that lets that treasure actually begin to manifest in your side of heaven, you have no means of causing the physical substance on earth to conform. And that treasure in heaven must have form on earth if it is to have any meaning.

“Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven.” According to the human concept this is utterly useless; it is of no value; it accomplishes nothing. But laying up for yourself treasure in heaven according to that which the Master taught, allows that treasure to begin to have form, physical form, right here on earth, and the heavenly treasure is revealed on earth. Do you think you need to increase the treasures of heaven? You are going to go up there and make heaven a wealthier place? Have you made the earth a wealthier place? How about letting the treasures of heaven come into the earth? That is our business, that the physical substance of the earth may give form to those treasures. And until we begin to see that and function on the basis of these principles, we cannot be what God intended us to be. Herein is one of the basic Secrets of Being, and I thank God for your response that has allowed you to begin to comprehend the truth that makes you free.
