Evening Session after the Afternoon Service

Ordination of Martin Cecil as Second Bishop

This is the record of the Evening Service
which followed the five hour Ordination Service on the afternoon of March 23, 1947,
when Martin Cecil was received into the Bishopric of the Church
and acknowledged as the Focalized Manifestation of the Spirit of Life
in the person of the Lord of the Sacred Two,
under decree of the LORD of Lords
When there is a group function, there is a group Response to the
focalization that is established, and the group Response allows a more powerful
Radiation that a single individual Response could allow, but each one in the
group then shares in the Radiation that is made possible by the group, so that
is part of the answer. If the individual, moving out of the focalized group
expression, expects to maintain the Current exactly as it was experienced in
the group, and he finds that it does not stay steady just that way, he is
inclined to react in some fashion to the unreal which tends to shut him off
from the Current entirely. When an individual advances far enough along the way
so that he can take the vibrations and recognize them for what they are, it becomes
easy for him to see and understand what Currents or vibrations are natural to
his own individual focalization in function and which vibrations manifesting in
the group he is privileged to share because of the group, which are not, necessarily,
in one sense, his own.
I have had hundreds of people tell me that they had all kinds questions
in their minds that they were going to ask me; and then when they came into my presence and began to share in the
focalization and Radiation, the questions just vanished. They could
not think of them, and everything seemed to be all right. If in that particular
situation, the individual allowed his attention to be focalized in that which
was presented, so that he remained in Love Response to the Lord, functioning
according to the pattern he received, when he went back out from the group
focalization, he was all right, but if he let his mind start wandering about,
reverting to a questioning attitude, he immediately started shutting off his focalization
to the Current, and the human mind, in self-activity, clouded the perception of
Truth that had been made available, and the center of attention became
established in the questioning, whereupon the individual was revolving around
the question propounded by the human mind rather than around the points of
Truth. When that is seen, it becomes evident that any such function defeats the
individual. It is not expected that the individual may necessarily hold, at
first at least, a perfect polarization in that which has been focalized for
him, but the thing that is essential is for him to practice holding those
focalizations. That is one reason why I like to encourage expression when I can
do so without spoiling Currents, because it helps the individual, through his
own expression, not only in the sense of establishing agreement with regard to
the Truth, but in the sense of bringing into his consciousness those points of
Reality which he recognizes, so that they are specific and clear, and then they
can be more readily retained in consciousness as a point around which to
revolve than if focalization in consciousness had not been clearly established.
For instance, in my own case, it has been pretty thoroughly demonstrated that the
whole Truth is present as a means of manifestation for the Currents according
to their changing focalizations, but the individual who is just coming into
that focalization has, in relationship to himself in consciousness, only small
portions of that Truth. If he does not remain attuned to those portions of
Truth that have focalized in his own consciousness, so that he ceases to
revolve around them, when he gets away he says: “Yes. I recognize this or that,
but how does it relate to that, or how does it connect up here?” Therefore, he
looks all over creation trying to find out all Truth in relationship to some
point of question that has focalized in his consciousness, and that is humanly
impossible. So, gradually, the individual has to learn to simply be attuned
with those focalizations of Truth and Currents of Reality of which he is aware,
to work with those, to rest in those, and whenever he can see a correlation
coming into view, he can rejoice, but he is not, with the human mind, to try to
make it fit, because the minute he does that, he starts distorting it and
starts shutting it off and pretty soon what he saw as Truth in the Current has
no Current left in it, and then because he keeps relating it to other things,
it ceases to be a Truth and becomes a distorted concept of the Truth, and he
thinks that that concept of the Truth is what I gave, and because he does not
see where it fits with all the points about which he questions, he rebels
against me, saying that I gave him a distorted concept of the Truth, and then
he rejects it and he shuts himself off. I do not care how much he declares he
loves God, he fails unless he turns again to the simple Truth and stops
rebelling. We see that any point of Truth can serve as a starting point for the
individual from which he may expand into the fullness of Truth as it relates to
himself.
I am going to give an illustration here or bring one up for consideration.
Today we have taken a step where Martin is recognized and acknowledged as
sharing in the focalized leadership of this Service, but he has a specific focalization
to fill that is peculiar to himself, and I do not think there is anyone who
knows him or knows very much about the Service in its practical function but what
would recognize the Reality of the Truth which he knows and expresses, but if
you were to ask Martin now at this point if he was in position to express the whole
Truth about all points, I do not think he would say, “Yes.” That is not any reflection
against him or any indication of any arbitrary limitations with respect to his
sphere of function; it is only illustrative of the point that each individual, when
he comes into his Divinely ordained function, does not imagine that because of that
he is forthwith prepared to function in someone else’s place. Being in his ordained
position, the individual has a certain sphere or function for which he is responsible,
and while in the function of that sphere he may gradually become acquainted in
time with the whole field of manifestation, so that he is acquainted with them,
it still does not make him feel that he could arbitrarily step over into some
other place, because each one is content with his own Divinely ordained place.
A comprehension of the whole Truth for a specific individual is a comprehension
of the Truth required for the filling of his own place which, actually, does not
mean that he must immediately comprehend the whole Truth from the standpoint of
the Absolute. Therefore, we begin to recognize that there are very definite distinguishing
Currents with respect to each individual outworking, and, therefore, the individual
ceases to be concerned about trying to fill someone else’s place or judging someone
else about how he is filling his place, because he recognizes that his responsibility
is here, and whatever Truth he comprehends there, if he remains polarized in
function in relationship to it, the rest
of the Truth will be revealed step by step, and ultimately he will be able to
see that in relationship to the whole; but until he is able to see the whole in
relationship to himself, he is not ready to begin to start to comprehend that
which is outside of his own ordained sphere. If that is seen, the whole
process, it seems to me, is recognized as being very simple, and there is no
distortion in the mind because this, that or the other thing is not made
immediately clear.
Just to illustrate this point a little further, I think there is a
good point to bring out. I have the responsibility, by Divine Commission, of
focalizing the Truth for the whole world—for all human beings upon the face of the earth without exception. Sometimes
when an individual asks me a question, shall we say about some manifestation or
function in another, I may answer: “I do not
know.” Does that indicate that I am, in any sense, failing to function with
respect to my ordained position? In the first place, those names and methods of
designation or distinction applied to different things by human beings are more
or less arbitrary; they are not established from the standpoint of Reality, and,
therefore, if l were to know, I would have to learn them like anybody else. In
the second place, if it is with respect to function, shall we say, of some
creature, if the Divine Program had worked out from the center to cover the
whole earth, with respect to human beings, and it had reached a point where the Truth concerning the function
of that creature was important to the fulfillment of the whole, I would be able
to answer the question, but if I kept running all over the country, mentally, trying
to set up focalizations by which I might know the Truth about this or that
which has no immediate bearing upon what I am doing with respect to the fulfillment, I
would never get anywhere.
My proper function is not from the standpoint of
having all knowledge and bringing it out instantly, for my work relates to
human beings, and, with respect to human beings, it is first from the
standpoint of the development of the One Christ Body, and, concerning the One
Christ Body, I do not think anyone has asked me a question I could not answer.
I have to recognize that there are a lot of things out there in the world that,
if I let my mind go racing about and start getting concerned about matters
outside of my proper function now, as things are, I could stir up a lot of questions
too,
but I am not now concerned about such things. If I can go along and enjoy these
things, it is fine, but only in that sphere where I have been able to establish
the proper focalizations and get actual cycles moving, and have a direct
responsibility with respect to their function, do I need to know, insofar as
this outer mind is concerned. Perhaps that helps to further clarify these
matters.
Grace Van Duzen — That is a wonderful illustration
of the Divine use of the knowledge of good and evil. The tree has to be in the
Garden, but it is the way it is used.
Uranda — If anyone wants to
ask questions, I expect I could ask as many as anyone, and I have never found
anyone who I could not back into a corner if I started out to do so.
Martin — It is not for us to
question the ways of the Lord.
Uranda — It is for human
beings to trust and obey. That has bothered a lot of people because they could not get me to
function outside of the sphere that I had focalized. They could not get me to
get self-active outside of the sphere where I had any business. In the sphere
where I am working, I know what I am doing. Unless the nucleus is expanding
out, there is no means of function. I cannot do anything about those two
billion human beings out there until the machinery is working.
Martin — That was an interesting point you brought out about
sharing the Radiation of the group—that the individual shares the Radiation of
the whole group. In other words, he has that much clearer Realization. When a
person goes out into the world, particularly if he is alone, there is a
tendency to begin to respond to the things of the world, and the vision fades anyway,
to a degree, because the individual is not sharing the vision of the group any
more; he is on his own. It seems difficult sometimes to maintain that polarity
which permits the maintenance of a sufficiently clear vision to maintain the
polarity. It goes around in a circle.
Uranda — There is that which I would like to add there. As
the individual progresses along the Way, he reaches a point where he is so
attuned in Love Response to the Lord that external things do not shake or move
him out of his course, and then, if, geographically, he is separated from the
Unit, there is still the sustaining Spirit of the Unit to which he is attuned. If
the outer mind starts trying to figure things out and starts being a little arbitrary
in some direction, the individual shuts off that sustaining Spirit of the Unit
and throws himself completely on his own, and then it is difficult, but if
there is a true blending into the Unit—not just into the Unit Current, but a
true blending into the Unit in the Fire of the Christ Love—then there is never,
actually, any separation from the sustaining Spirit of the Unit. Even though
there may not always be a consciousness of what the Unit Realization is with
respect to some point, there is always a willingness to rest at that point and
let the consciousness of that Unit Realization come, so that there is
tranquillity, and then the Peace of Spirit can be maintained regardless of where
the individual is. Does that help enlarge it any?
Martin — As the growth develops, so that there is not so much
cleavage to the world, as it were, it is a more or less gradual outworking, so
that it need not be so painful.
Uranda — That is very true,
and if the individual realizes that at first it is a degree of blending in the
Current of the Unit, and not arbitrarily expecting that to produce the results
which would be manifest if the blending was in the Unit itself, so that he is
willing to let the results appear gradually and not try to jump over anything,
then it does not get painful, but when the individual tries to jump from one
point to the next, bypassing some needed development, then he gets into
trouble. He has to learn to harmonize in the Current of the Unit before that can become
real, and then when that becomes real, he has to learn to be blended into the
Unit, and until he is blended into the Unit, he will not have the sustaining
force when he goes out into the world.
Martin — It should be easier now
because there is a Unit.
Uranda — Yes. Before the
foundation of the Unit, it had to be just between you and the Lord and me.
Sally Bainbridge — I would like to ask a
question in connection with sharing in the Unit. There is sometimes a feeling
of sharing more with this or that portion of the Unit than with some other
portion. Should it not be more balanced?
Uranda — That is not necessarily
true, because my thumb shares more with my fingers than it does with my toes.
It depends on the vibrations. There could, of course, be limitations that could enter
into such a thing that would in time be cleared. From the standpoint of
Reality, this is the answer: Only in the focalization at absolute Center can
there be an equal sharing with all, and then that is not equal because there
are variations of Response. I can share with each one only to the degree of
Response to Reality. Wherever there are equal degrees of Response to Reality, I
share equally with all, but even then the placement or manifestation may make a
distinct difference in the Currents involved in that sharing because there are
individual aspects in relationship to all people, because each one is different
and functions in a different place, but only in the Center can there be an
equal sharing with all, in any sense. We night say that if we are going on a
trip, the whole body shares in the going, but some parts of the body share more
in the seeing than others, and some share more in the seeing than others, and
some share more in the feeling, but the whole body goes through the experience.
When you do not have on a pair of shoes, the primary impression, while you are
walking, may be an impression of the ground, as far as the toes are concerned.
The Master gave
something that was very important on that point and, I think, it has not been
very well understood. He said: “He that would be the greatest among you, let
him be the servant of all.” You can share only with those whom you Serve. You
cannot share with those whom you do not Serve. If there is anything of
greatness in any position, it is on the basis of the Service that is rendered.
The Master was true to His position and He certainly Served all. The world idea
is to appoint people to various places. “You be this and you be that,” and so
on, but that means utterly nothing, because except there be Service within the
Current, and in accordance with the Pattern of Truth at that point, whatever that
individual might try to do in the position to which he was arbitrarily
appointed would be nothing.
During the Summer
Session at Sylvan Dale, and the same thing was true, although perhaps not so widespread,
at the Ranch, the point was actually brought up and commented upon by several
different ones of the townspeople about how people from all over the country
were drawn there. The word got back to me, where there was an expression
something to the effect that: “He must be a great man to draw so many people
from so many different places.” Why did all those people come from so many
different places? It was only because I could Serve them. If I could not have
rendered them any Service, I do not think they would have been there, and that
is the thing that draws—the rendering of Service, and we cannot Serve until we
are functioning in the Current. There has to be practice in that function in
order to begin to make it real, and if it begins to be real and we let it hold
steady, we find changes come in the expanded expression of Life, and increased opportunities
of Service appear—but human beings have been inclined to try to measure their Service
on the basis of the number of people they drew into the School, or according to
various human standards and concepts, when they were not in position at all to
determine what their Service was vibrationally in the developing Currents of
focalization. If there had not been a lot of people holding steady, even though
it may have looked as though they were not doing very much, there would not
have been the birth of the Christ Body last fall.
Lucy Twining — The Lord said: “I came not to minister unto but to minister.”
Uranda — By that He was conveying the idea that it was not for
His own needs that He was in the world but for the needs of others. There have
been those who have criticized me because people liked to minister to me. If I
were to take the position of interpreting the Master’s statement to mean that I
was not supposed to let anyone minister to me, I would be denying the Service
principle of the Teaching. There would be no way of completing the cycle, and
unless there is a returning cycle, there is nothing.

If there is anything of greatness in any position, it is on the basis of the Service that is rendered. The Master was true to His position and He certainly Served all. The world idea is to appoint people to various places. “You be this and you be that,” and so on, but that means utterly nothing, because except there be Service within the Current, and in accordance with the Pattern of Truth at that point, whatever that individual might try to do in the position to which he was arbitrarily appointed would be nothing.
During the Summer Session at Sylvan Dale, and the same thing was true, although perhaps not so widespread, at the Ranch, the point was actually brought up and commented upon by several different ones of the townspeople about how people from all over the country were drawn there. The word got back to me, where there was an expression something to the effect that: “He must be a great man to draw so many people from so many different places.” Why did all those people come from so many different places? It was only because I could Serve them. If I could not have rendered them any Service, I do not think they would have been there, and that is the thing that draws—the rendering of Service, and we cannot Serve until we are functioning in the Current. There has to be practice in that function in order to begin to make it real, and if it begins to be real and we let it hold steady, we find changes come in the expanded expression of Life, and increased opportunities of Service appear—but human beings have been inclined to try to measure their Service on the basis of the number of people they drew into the School, or according to various human standards and concepts, when they were not in position at all to determine what their Service was vibrationally in the developing Currents of focalization. If there had not been a lot of people holding steady, even though it may have looked as though they were not doing very much, there would not have been the birth of the Christ Body last fall.
Lucy Twining — The Lord said: “I came not to minister unto but to minister.”
Uranda — By that He was conveying the idea that it was not for His own needs that He was in the world but for the needs of others. There have been those who have criticized me because people liked to minister to me. If I were to take the position of interpreting the Master’s statement to mean that I was not supposed to let anyone minister to me, I would be denying the Service principle of the Teaching. There would be no way of completing the cycle, and unless there is a returning cycle, there is nothing.

Part One
Evening Session after the Afternoon Service
for the
Ordination of Martin Cecil as Second Bishop
conducted by Bishop Lloyd A. Meeker (Uranda)
March 23, 1947 Riverside, California
This is the record of the Evening Service
which followed the five hour Ordination Service on the afternoon of March 23, 1947,
when Martin Cecil was received into the Bishopric of the Church
and acknowledged as the Focalized Manifestation of the Spirit of Life
in the person of the Lord of the Sacred Two,
under decree of the LORD of Lords
Uranda — When you reach one goal, it is the starting point for a new cycle. Every achievement is but a new beginning. Now that we have reached this point, what shall we do with it?
Martin Cecil — I was just thinking that
it has been two years since the Summer Session at Sylvan Dale, and there was an
Ordination Service there at that time. Afterwards, those who were ordained
conducted Services of half hour duration, and I believe mine was the first.
Anyway, those who were there will recall that the river ran by just outside the
chapel and we could hear the sound of the water all the time. I used that as a
starting point for my period of expression, symbolizing the flowing Current of
Life, particularly at that time as it manifested through the individual human
being to bring health—and now we come to this time when we again consider the
flowing Current of Life, but in relationship now to the One Christ Body, that
it may have life and health. And just as we see pictured, in that the
establishment of a cycle that has worked out and come to a point of fruition,
so what is established today can work forward and come to its point of fruition
in due season. And, as Uranda expressed it just now, each point of completion
is a point of beginning where a new cycle can naturally come into
manifestation. As we see these things work out in this instance, and many
others, we may be assured that the final victory and accomplishment, and fruition
of the ultimate goal to which our lives are dedicated will came. It was just those
few thoughts that I felt the urge to express at this time.
Uranda — I praise the Lord for your expression
in the Current, and I surely agree with you that it is so; and as we all let
each point of fulfillment become the inception of a new cycle of
accomplishment, we find all the forces of the Cosmos back of us in the
accomplishment which God ordained, and all that undertakes to oppose that fulfillment
must necessarily crumble. As the stone was rolled away and our Lord came forth
from the Tomb, so is the stone rolled away now, that all Responding Ones may
come forth into a new expression of Life now,
because the pattern is of the Truth rather than falsity—and vivid because the
Current of Life is allowed to operate without those distortions which have
brought suffering into the world. We know that as far as human beings are
concerned, Love, as experienced by
man, carries man to the highest height that he may know, but Love, misused,
carries to the lowest depths.
I was thinking how very appropriate it
is that this fulfillment should in the Easter Season—in that Season when the
world, or at least a portion of it, pauses for at least a moment to pay tribute
to our Master’s victory over death. As He proved the Reality of Eternal Life, and
as He instructed that we are to follow Him, He surely included that victory
over death, that proving of the eternal nature of Life. He came that we may
have Life and that we may have it more abundantly. He said: “And ye shall know
the Truth, and the Truth shall set you free,” but though the Truth sets the
individual free, that is not enough. What will the individual do with that
freedom? Will he sell it for a mess of pottage and return to slavery, or will
he utilize that freedom in the expression of Life—vivid, true and real—Life
that glorifies the Source of Life, Life that in its expression brings victory
over death and the things that lead to death. By the Truth men are set free.
For what cause? That they may enjoy the glorious liberty of the Children of
God, and that means the expression of Life as God intended that it should be.
The Pattern of Truth is made available
to all, but only as that Pattern is used in the expression of Life can it have
meaning on earth. And so it is that this Easter Season has special significance
for us and for all who will hearken to the Call: “Come unto me, all ye that
labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest,”—rest from the
self-activity that wearies the human being, rest from the self-activity that is
the heavy burden which human beings try to carry in their own puny strength; for
he who receives the Rest of the Lord, who enters into that Sabbath Rest, ceases
from his self-active works and begins to let Life in its fullness, in its
beauty, find expression, because such an one allows God to do the works. So it
is that we follow Him.
In my Ministry I have, when needful, painted with such words as I could find, although inadequate, the picture of man’s rejection of our KING, and of the ignominy which was heaped upon Him in His journey to the Cross, because I have felt that no matter how callous the world, there must surely be those in the world who will not let His sacrifice be in vain. He Who loved us and gave Himself for us is worthy of our Love. That disciple whom Jesus loved desired to inspire Love for the Master in others, that they, may share with Him the sacred joy of being loved by the LORD of Love. It is true that He loves all people, but so few receive that Love, and it is the receiving of the Love that counts. So many people in the world feel lonely and long for Love, and, following the human pattern, they struggle to try to get Love, as if they thought they could reach out and take it unto themselves, as if they thought they could put it in a cage and bring it forth for their own pleasure when and as they might choose, but that cannot be done with Love, and any imitation of Love with which it can be done is too poor a thing to satisfy.
If human beings could only realize that their loneliness, that
their longing to be loved, is really the answer of the soul to the whispering
Spirit of God, they would stay still long enough to hear the Message of the
Spirit, that they might begin to know where to find Love. They would cease their
frantic efforts, their struggling and their trying, and they would find that Love
is offered to all who will receive. I think that tonight, more fully than ever
before, you can appreciate the longing that has been in my heart, through the years,
to share with you, and with all, the Joy that can come only in the receiving of
Love from the LORD of Love. It is a blessed thing to share this joy of
receiving Love from Him, and the more there are to share it, the more of His
Love will appear on earth, and the more of His Love that finds expression on
earth, the greater will be the manifestation of His Power. I have known people
to act and speak as if they thought they were somehow doing me some special
favor when they listened to the Word of Truth that I have offered to all, as if
they were doing me some special favor in even pausing to consider the
possibility of getting into line, so that they might receive the Gift of His
Love. Why do I minister? First, because I love my KING, and, secondly because I
love all those who love Him.
Communion in Spirit and a sharing of
that peace that is found in God’s Love fills us with Joy, and that communion in
Spirit reaches forth to the ends of the earth. Perhaps gradually, but surely,
there comes a Realization that in the true outpouring of the Spirit, when there
is really a Radiation, distance, in any geographical sense, ceases to be a
barrier; for those who are attuned in the Christ are privileged to share in the
Spirit of the Christ wherever they are. Do you have any Realization you wish to
express?
Martin Cecil — Yesterday in the car, as we were driving along, I was speaking to Kathy of Peace. Now, when we are actually resting in Peace, I feel that it is a Current flowing, and when we experience the flow of the Current through ourselves, we are within the Kingdom of peace. It is not something that is static or meaningless. It is a living, pulsing, flowing Current which passes through the individual, and as long as he abides in that Current and is conscious of the flow of the Current, he is enfolded in Peace. In other words, he is abiding in the Kingdom of Peace—but, in order for the Current to flow through the individual, it has to reach through the individual first, as it were, and it has to pass through the periphery of the individual sphere, because the forward moving edge of the Current is not, from the standpoint of the unreal at least, peaceful, because it constitutes a sword, one might say, and there is a battle; and to the degree that there is response to the turmoil, there is disturbance and uncertainty. The Current passes through the polarized individual eventually, and moves on out into the world, so that something may be accomplished—but unless it is allowed to flow through the individual in the first place, it can never reach out into the world and accomplish something out there, so the necessity would be to remain steady and on the beam during the process of letting that Current carry forward through oneself and on out into the world. And when it moves on out, the battle is beyond, and the processes of accomplishment are carried on out there while the individual through whom the Current is flowing abides in the Kingdom.
Uranda — Very well put. The LORD of Love is the
Prince of Peace, but He said: “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I come not to send peace, but a sword.” In
other words, until the individual lets himself be a channel for the Peace of
the LORD of Love, so that the cleansing Power of God is working in the range on
beyond himself, he does not know Peace, even though he is in the Current of
Peace.
As the vibration has worked out thus far, I feel
that the degree of co-ordination made manifest in this little hour of
meditation and general radiation could be used as a starting point for a little
focalized Radiation. In this instance I am not thinking of focalizations so
much with respect to individual recipients of the Radiation as with respect to
the Radiations themselves. The Master instructed that we should enter into the
closet and shut the door and pray to our Father Who seeth in secret—and He
assured us that the Father Who seeth in secret would reward us openly. The
reward which is received openly is the result of Radiation. Let us harmonize in
the Radiation of the Word into the world:
“How long, how long, halt ye between two opinions?”
“Ye cannot serve two masters.” “Now is the accepted time, now is the day of
salvation.” Let the irresistible Cords of Divine Love take hold in thy heart
and in thy mind, thou Responding One, whosoever and wheresoever thou mayest be.
Turn thy thought and attention from the world of turmoil. Refuse to let
adversities fill thy thought and mind and feeling realm. Let go now to the LORD
of Love, that the Power of Love may hold thee steady, while the Pattern of
Truth is established in thee, while the Sword of Truth cuts asunder the bonds
wherewith thou art bound, that thou mayest be set free to express the glories of
Life in the Liberty of the Children of God. Let go of the things of the world
and let go to the yearning of the Spirit—for the Spirit of Love would lift thee
up, and the Spirit of Truth would set thee free, and the Spirit of Life would
carry thee into the glorious Liberty of the Children of God.
He who loves God, to whatever degree, cannot be
lifted up thereby until he lets the Spirit of Truth set him free, and he who
lets himself be set free must let the Spirit of Life cause him to begin to grow
into the stature of Divine Manhood and Divine Womanhood.
The LORD our God seeks those who will worship Him
in Spirit and in Truth. All people everywhere, in any moment, are privileged to
worship Him in Spirit, but Love Response to the LORD does not lift the
individual into the expression of Life in Reality until the Sword of Truth is
allowed to operate to remove the unreal; for if any were lifted up by the
Spirit of Love while still conformed to the patterns of the unreal, the power
to do evil would be increased, and the currents of destruction would be
multiplied—for the Currents of Love and the Currents of Life, moving through
the individual, bring into manifestation that which is shaped and molded by the
pattern within the individual, and if it be the pattern of the unreal, the
individual cannot be lifted up by the Power of Love, lest God should thereby defeat
Himself. Therefore, there is one condition established unto all men that no matter
how much they may love God or seek to function in the Love of God, they cannot
be lifted up until they conform to the pattern of Truth, that they may then express the fullness of Life in the Liberty of the Children
of God.
Therefore, all ye who hearken to the Call of the
Spirit, give heed now and know that worshiping God in Spirit and Responding to
Him in Love is of no avail unless you let yourselves be conformed to the
Pattern of Truth, unless you let the Sword of Truth cut away the unreal. As you
begin the journey upward, you are received of the LORD in the beginning with
whatever burden of the unreal you may be carrying, but as you move upward, you
must let the Sword of Truth operate—and if at any point along the way you cease
to Respond to the Spirit of Truth, there, at that point, you cease to move
upward, and from that point the Current that should bring Life, if it were allowed
to operate through the Pattern of Truth, brings forth the fruit of the unreal, and
the unworthy branch is cut off and cast into the Fire. Therefore, Respond in
Love to God, let go to the irresistible Cords of Divine Love, but shrink not
from the Sword of Truth by which thou mayest be set free from bondage to this
world, that thou mayest be lifted up and, in the Ascending Current, find that
expression of Life to which thou art ordained of the Living God.
Peace be unto thee, now and forevermore, to the
degree that thou dost let go in the Current of Peace, but that which is not in
harmony with the Peace of God is not comfortable or at peace in the Current of
Peace. Therefore, let the Sword of Truth cut away that whereby thy discomfort
is made manifest, that thou mayest truly relax and rest in the Peace of God
eternal; for in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, it is
established unto each one, now and forevermore, In the Christ. Aum-en.
It seems
strange to me that as much as the Master said about it, the people who claim to
have loved Him should still think that they can carry the baggage of the unreal
into the Kingdom. He set at the Gate an Angel with a Sword which turns every
way, and though they Respond in Love to Him and come to the Gate, they cannot
get in until they let go of the burden.
Whether it is
still in existence or not, there used to be in the wall of the old Jerusalem a
gate which was called the “Gate of the Needle’s Eye.” It was a small gate,
intended primarily for people on foot, and in the olden days when night came, and
the gates of the city were closed, the only remaining entrance into this city through
the wall was the “Gate of the Needle’s Eye.” When a traveller came in with his
camel, after the gates were closed, he could not go through the “Gate of t he Needle's
Eye” with his pack on his back. If the camel was to go in, he had to be relieved
of his burden and get down on his knees to go through the Gate. The Master used
that basic fact as an illustration. Human beings have to relinquish their burdens
of the unreal before they can get through the Gate. He said it is easier for a
camel to pass through the “Needle’s Eye” than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom
of Heaven. Ordinarily, human beings have thought that was a rather extreme or impossible
thing, but He was talking about the “Gate of the Needle’s Eye” and He did not
mean people just rich with money, but those who were wise in their own eyes,
who thought they knew a great deal—those who thought that they knew better than
the LORD what they should take into the Kingdom—but those things which are not
of the Kingdom cannot be taken into the Kingdom. I am very thankful that that
is true. Otherwise, if the devil could, he would turn Heaven into hell. The
devil and all of his angels were cast out of Heaven. He has been trying ever
since to get back in, but it does not work. I have seen a lot of people try it,
but I have never known one to get past the Gate.
I am going to change the subject just a little, but I think that after today and our meditation and radiation tonight, perhaps a point that I have sought to clear many times with different ones can be seen more readily. In checking back, I think you will find that whenever you have expressed according to the Truth, I have been quick to agree with you and to express that agreement. Back through my Ministry I have been under the necessity of seeking to inspire others to express agreement with the point of Truth that I may have presented in a Service. I have asked for expressions at various times and I have had human beings interpret that asking as if I were seeking some sort of approbation or desiring to be commended in some fashion, or patted on the back. I know what the Truth is and I do not have to have human beings tell me what the Truth is, but if we are to work according to that principle in all of its Triangles and Cycles, as well as in the basic Triangle, we have to remember that where two of you agree on earth as touching anything—when you express that with which I may properly agree, as I said, I think you have always found that I have been quick to express that agreement, not just to encourage you, although perhaps that was part of my intention, but in order, at those points of progress, to establish a base of a Triangle which, if the point could be maintained, would begin to produce a Creative Cycle.
So my thought is
that perhaps now after the thing has carried through to the present point of
focalization, you will understand why, the true reason why, I like to have
expressions of agreement from you on the points of Truth presented. If you just
agree in Spirit, that may help some, but it needs to be the expression of the Word—though
the expression of the Word is of little avail if the point that you so
establish is not maintained. We have the two primary points of the Triangle made
manifest now—that is, the two outer points in the primary sense, but agreement
there is not enough. Every individual has an opportune to function with respect
to a Triangle, and if that Triangle is held steady in its points of
polarizations, the Creative Cycle is established, and if polarity is held
steady, the Cycle is fulfilled. The particular advantage to human beings in
having the basic triangle made manifest is this: The individual who is
Responding and moving along the Way or seeking to Serve God is never without an
opportunity to function as the point of a Triangle made manifest. If there is
any expression of Truth according to the pattern of Truth, and if that
expression be polarized in Love Response to the LORD of Love, then there is a
manifestation of two points of a Triangle waiting to be used by any individual
at any time in manifestation, and he or she can be the third point, and then it
is a foregone conclusion that the other Point of the Basic Triangle is in
agreement, but if there is an expression of recognition or agreement on the
part of the one who hears the Word of Truth or Life expressed by either
manifest point of the Basic Triangle, then there is automatically established in
that instant another Triangle which, to the degree that it is maintained, permits
the inception of a new Cycle which shall find fulfillment in the life of the
individual, and through the individual to all who will Respond. In that you can
begin to appreciate something of the meaning of Ezekiel’s vision concerning wheels
within wheels. Does that make the point any clearer? The Basic Triangle would
not be any good if there were not those who make innumerable other triangles in
relationship to it.
Every
individual who Responds, to the degree of Response and polarization and
agreement on earth, letting the Current work properly, provides a focalization
into new world vibrations and Currents where the Truth can begin to transform
and the Life may begin to manifest. That is one of the reasons why letters of
Response have been encouraged in the Service, because it gives the individual
an opportunity to agree on earth as touching these things. While in the past
the individual could not be so conscious of the actuality of the triangles, he
had to be sufficiently attuned to function from an Inner standpoint to make his
agreement effective, but now, while it has to be real and genuine and polarized
in Love Response to the LORD, the fact that the Triangle in its completeness
can manifest at any time at any point out there in the world makes it easier
for the individuals who agree to begin to be really effective in meeting every
conceivable condition. So it is not so much what is done by those who are responsible for maintaining those two Basic Points,
although that is important—but, for the individual that importance can become real
only to the degree that he or she permits the manifestation of a third point to
form a Triangle, and to the degree that that point is held constantly, the Cycle
must begin to work, and when it works, it is greater than the power of this
world.
Martin Cecil — Letters
of Response—what were supposed to be letters of Response have not always been
in agreement.
Uranda — If they
were not in agreement, they were no good, unless they were ready to move toward
agreement. One of the things some have not been able to see is why they should
come into agreement. They have tried to remain in disagreement and still come
into the Kingdom, and it does not work.
Grace Van Duzen
— Then that expression: “In Expression there is Release,” has a deeper meaning
than just release. It releases the wheels within wheels and releases the
greater cycles.
Uranda — It lets
the wheels start turning. And so, judging from the Spirit, I would say that we
are truly in agreement. Have there been any outstanding Realizations that you
have had today that you have not given focalization in expression?
Kathy Meeker — You
spoke the other night of the confusion, seemingly, when this world was first
created, so that things looked as though nothing constructive could come out of
it; and in this process of re-creation which we are enjoying, it seamed at
times that there was so much chaos that it was almost impossible for anything
worthwhile to come out of it, and yet in the midst of it we are seeing
something marvellous taking form.
Grace Van
Duzen — I could not help thinking about the sense of the beginning of things—I
mean of the fulfillment of prophecy and the two olive trees and the
candlesticks. It is just like beginning at the cross again and moving on from
there. It is just as if things were at the beginning with no precedent, and
just the new creation to be completed.
Uranda — That
is a very good point, Grace. And it shows how cautious human beings ought to be
with respect to jumping to conclusions, because we are beginning to bring into
formation that which should have been made manifest immediately following the
Master’s Ascension. So it is in one sense going back, or in another sense it is
making those two thousands years be, as far as we are concerned, as if they had
not been. We are moving out in a new creation where, in the experience of human
beings as they know it, there is no precedent. It is a new creation, “Behold, I
make all things new,” and only as human beings are willing to let things be
made new can they have a part in that creation. That is very good.
Changes move
in the directions of Response, and no one can stop the changes, no matter how
he tries, but he can determine the results of the changes by the direction of
his movement. As the Response of the individual
lets him hold steady, so that his function gradually conforms to the Pattern of
Truth the changes that take place have to conform to that Pattern, and he is
healed, whether physically, mentally or Spiritually.
Martin Cecil — As we move
forward from the Cross, it is not human strength that is going to keep the
creative wheels rolling. That has been tried.
Uranda — Nor is it human vision which is going to determine now the wheels should manifest.
