To Finish The Work

To  Finish  The  Work

Martin Exeter   August 2, 1987

There can be no restoration of the planet and of all the various forms of life on the surface of the planet until there is first the restoration of man. It is well that there are those who are awakening to the needs of the planet. They may see and understand the rape that has been going on. But if it is still imagined that there is some way by which further depredations can be stopped and all this put together again so that it works to the satisfaction of human beings, then there is delusion indeed. The true state of the planet is absolutely dependent upon the true state of man. When that is restored, the restoration of the planet to its true state is no problem. Thus far this basic fact has been overlooked.

We took note how there is now consideration in a very wide way about the necessity of spirit: spirit in business, spirit in education, spirit in all these things. But what’s that? As we saw, there is little willingness as yet to let what is seen in this regard come to focus. For it to come to focus there must be a focus in evidence. We have understood this and have assumed the responsibility of providing it. Certainly we can’t do it as human beings. There is no way by which the truth can be revealed by man without the restoration of man, without the emergence into experience of a new identity.

Identity is articulated by using the words I am. It is already articulated by human beings everywhere, ourselves included, with the idea that “I am me; my name is thus and so.” And there are a great number of statistics which can be recorded, and probably have been recorded, registered. We all go by numbers these days, and we are all supposedly in a computer, many computers. Isn’t such an idea foolishness? Is it possible to put you into a computer?

We have known ourselves in one human identity, and we still talk about that as though we were going to hang on to that somehow or other, but another identity is going to come alongside and we will recognize this other identity and we will bow obsequiously to it. But we will still keep our own identity. And, the way we talk, we are very self-revealing in this regard. We are self-revealing as to the extent to which there is experience of a restored identity. It is an identity that is restored because it already exists: I am that one. By the same token, I could well say, “I am not this one.” The identity was “I am that I am,” not “I am this I am”! The loss of the human identity, the death of it, is in prospect. That shouldn’t be an extraordinary realization. After all, it has happened to everybody along the way, sooner or later, and I doubt if we are exempt. So that human identity which we have claimed so strongly as being what we are is going to die. Someone recently spoke of rebirth. I suppose that is one way of putting it. I don’t care for it too much, because it looks as though one will still have the same identity but it is somehow transformed. It isn’t the same identity at all. The true identity is the new heaven and the new earth.

The old identity was described as the first heaven and the first earth which pass away. Somewhere else it says something about the former things passing away. Yet how desperately there is the attempt to hang on to the former things, principally the identity that one has known. One is very familiar with this, and it seems as though there would be an awful blank if you let it go. So of course to make it easy we have the opportunity to allow it to occur over a period of time. But we had better take advantage of the opportunity, because that period of time does come to an end. It comes to an end individually, and it might come to a mass end rather suddenly. I think it would be a blessing for it to come to an end rather suddenly, rather than to have it long and drawn out. It has been long and drawn out up to this point, hasn’t it? F or thousands of years human beings have been suffering their existence away in a false identity.

To the extent that we have been willing, there has dawned the realization that I am of heaven; I am not this creature of the earth. Because man was created the way he was, he has the sense of identity. So this creature of the earth has claimed an identity; there is the capacity to experience identity. This happens with human beings; it doesn’t happen the same way with any other creaturesother creatures; that classifies human beings as creatures. And there is this sort of idea that he is a supposedly advanced—I wonder why that idea came in—advanced creature who is simply a part of the total ecology of the earth, and he needs to find the way he fits with all the other aspects of this ecology. Man was not created to be a creature but to give focus to the expression of the One I am, who is a Creator. Man is responsible for the creature creation. He is not a part of that, other than providing the connecting link between that creature creation and the Creator. So there are elements of the creature creation present in the human form for this reason, not that that human form should imagine that it is merely an advanced animal but that it might have a direct connection with the animal kingdom for the purposes of creation, and not only with the animal kingdom but with the kingdom of vegetation and the mineral kingdom too. Everything is present in the human form in this regard, so that when I am incarnate and in expression I have a facility at hand by which the design and control of all creation is in my hands. Of course the fall precipitated man down into the creation. He is struggling around in the creation. Come up hither. Participate in the flesh form of the One I am. Participate individually and, doing that, consequently collectively.

There is a verse here that I would read, again not because it is in the Bible but because it is revealing of something that is most pertinent to our own immediate experience. These are purportedly the words of Jesus. They are words for us now, regardless of where they came from. “I lay down my life, that I might take it again.” This is speaking of life, not of human existence. This is an expression which emerged through one individual. When we say “I lay down my life.” that relates to the physical form, doesn’t it? “I relinquish my physical form.” We know the story in this particular instance, and a big deal has been made out of what has been called the crucifixion, but here was indication of something.

We may recall another statement: “I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.” Therefore there was no need to be present in form anymore at that point. What this individual needed to do had been done then. We ourselves need to have the same attitude. If I—and this can be said by anyone—have finished the work for which I came into this human form, then I don’t need to be here anymore. As it worked out for this One, He had indeed finished what was possible at that time for Him. He hadn’t finished the work which He could have done if there had been those on hand to let Him do it, but as it turned out there weren’t So He did what He could as an individual.

“I lay down my life, that I might take it again—I can't do any more now, but somewhere along the line, when human affairs have worked out to a certain point that I may usefully be present again, I will take my life on earth again in the flesh. This presumably is what Christians refer to as the second coming of Christ. There are some very peculiar ideas in that regard, but the fact is not very mysterious at all. In order to come there must be a flesh body. In order to come on earth there must be a flesh body. It is considered that the second coming is somehow way up in the sky maybe, someone coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.  Power relates to love, and glory to life. So certainly the coming has reference to life and to love.

Speaking of all this, it is also said, “No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself… and I have power to take it again.” This certainly indicates the fact that, having the power to take it again, when it was time to take it again He would take it again. In other words He would assume the position of incarnation in a flesh body. What would that flesh body be? Everyone tends to think of just one individual body. That idea was pretty well dealt with when indication was made that there would be many false Christs who would put in an appearance. That isn’t the way it happens, through human beings making claims. It happens because, as with His original individual body the essential flesh was drawn together for it, so the essential flesh is drawn together for the means of His coming again. We see this in terms of something larger than the individual body.

When He first came the intent was that there should be something larger. He wouldn’t have taken the trouble to call the disciples, for instance, if that was not so. But it never came together at that time. There is no need for us to wonder why or judge the matter at all or judge the people concerned. That was the state of affairs. So He did as much as He could do, and it all came to focus in His own individual physical form. He was the only one. So, in effect, He said, “All right, that’s fine. Let it be just with this one. And I can lay this form down for the moment and I can call it together again. I have the power to lay it down and I have the power to take it again.” So He takes it again. And we have some experience of this happening. We find ourselves drawn into a body, as we refer to it, which we recognize, both individually and collectively, is the body of the One I am. This is what needs to happen, that there may be on earth man restored.

When we say “man restored,” I suppose most start to think about the fact that there are five billion people on earth, and that’s quite a job. Well why are there five billion people on earth, do you think? Is that something that was part of the design of truth, or is it the result of human failure? Is it the result of human actions of all kinds?—of course the act of procreation, for one thing, obviously. Human beings are responsible for that, but also all sorts of other actions, most of which were deemed to be good: “Save lives! Save all these people! Save the children! Save everybody! Overpopulate the earth!” This is the human view of compassion and love, but it totally ignores the truth, the design of things, the way things really work. And of course, as it has revealed itself, it is a most destructive and terrible state of affairs. We continually see these people who need new hearts and lungs and livers, and the children particularly. What is the point? Why should anyone continue to live at all—anyone on the face of the earth, ourselves included? Is there any point to continued existence in the human sense? What would the point be? That I can make a million dollars? That I can satisfy myself somehow? All of these people who are being saved—what are they being saved for? Who knows? You take individual instances, and of course it is a very personal matter for the people concerned, particularly to parents with children. But it is an appalling state of affairs.

It would seem that the view of love would be, “That’s enough.” While there is no attitude of deliberately doing anything to manipulate affairs into some supposed useful design, someone might say, “Well there shouldn’t be five billion people on earth.” How many should there be, do you think? What number shall we pick out of the hat? One billion? One million? A hundred thousand? Ten thousand? A hundred? We can whittle it down. But, whittling it down, you have to get rid of all the rest! And who are the rest? It is all being taken care of, so we don’t need to concern ourselves particularly with figuring it out. That isn’t possible. The creative process takes care of it. It may seem at times that it is cruel, but that is the restricted human view of what is happening. What has been cruel has been this human state, maintained generation after generation for thousands of years, making sure that there was tribulation and suffering on earth. That has been deliberately done by human beings, till it has come to this not-very-pretty pass.

So let us let the creative process work, because we ourselves embody it. Let it come to focus, the focus of the spirit of the living God, that what needs to happen may happen, and that it may happen quickly. There have been all these thousands of years of human suffering, to no end at all, to no purpose. Let it be the word of the One I am, in the not too far distant future, “I have finished the work that thou gavest me to do.” To participate in the restoration of man—that’s the only thing that matters, nothing else. All the other human matters have been repeated and repeated and looked after generation after generation, and it has brought everything to this appalling state now. Let it be wound up, that man may be restored, whether man is ten people, a hundred people, a hundred thousand people, a million people, however many. Let it be that. Let it be put together in that way, according to the true design in the power of love, that there may be a flesh form on earth for the One I am. Then whatever is necessary insofar as this planet is concerned can be easily taken care of; not in the ways of the human intellect, because all of that card castle that has been built up in the realm of human knowledge just comes skittering down. Human knowledge is not necessary for the universe to operate. It is doing very well without human knowledge. It has been doing that for quite some time, I believe. Trying to insert human knowledge into that creative process is disastrous, not to the creative process but to those who try to push it in. The living God is most merciful apparently. He has said, “Give them time, give them time. Maybe they’ll repent somewhere along the way.” There has been opportunity after opportunity for this, all of them obviously thus far rejected. So now that’s it, that’s enough. If allowed to continue beyond a certain point, presumably it would begin to have some sort of adverse effect upon the larger cycles of things. It has had some effect already upon what happens in this solar system; but all of that is easily taken care of when the One I am is incarnate on earth in man. That is the reason for man’s existence, the reason why human beings have been allowed to hang around for so long: perhaps somehow one day someone would undertake to repent and let the change come.

It has worked out to this point, and we have some awareness of participation in the process; not only we here in this Dome structure but others the world around, just a few here, a few there. Nevertheless there is a sense of one body, isn't there? For those who have had opportunity to travel around, you find the same spirit all over the place. And it seems as though there are multitudes of Emissaries. We know that there aren’t very many, actually. Just enough. Let’s not judge in the matter. Let’s let it be what it is, what it proves to be, without thinking that we know any better. There are those who, presumably interpreting something out of the Book of Revelation, say, “There must be 144,000." Do you think there are? Maybe a few hundred. Let’s let it be the way it is. It is put together by the creative process, not by any human formula. “Well I think there must be 144,000. That's a critical number,” whatever that means.

But it is true that there is a creative influence extended; and to the extent that we ourselves are true to the truth, that becomes a very focused and powerful thing, which permeates the consciousness of mankind. We see all sorts of changes occurring. Some of them we would tend to classify as creative, others as destructive. It doesn’t much matter which, as long as there is evidence of the fact that we are participating in extending this creative radiance to do what it needs to do. Let’s not judge it. We know, in the situations which arise and are brought to us, how we should act in those. We know, always. We always know what is needful in the moment. The troubles begin to put in an appearance when we start worrying about what seems to be looming on the horizon: “How shall I handle that?” Well you can't. It's on the horizon. Let it come to you and you’ll know how to handle it.

So we share this easy responsibility of being now here, embodying the creative process, letting it work, in an awareness that I am the one who has the power to take up my body again. We know that personally, individually—our bodies have been taken up. We can stand on our feet, we can walk around. But it has much more application than that, because it is the larger body that is the one that is being put together, drawn together, to do what needs to be done, that the work that it is here to do may be finished. Then the human mind gets in and says, “Well when that's finished, what next?” We find that out when we get there. But we're here; this is where we are; here is the place where the action must appear, wherever here is with respect to any part of this body. There are those who are becoming aware of the dependability of this focus of spirit in form. They listen to the word of the One I am when the One I am is incarnate and in expression through His body. And we share that. There is the fulfillment. I rejoice that we may bring to focus the fact that it is this that has been the missing factor heretofore. Nothing has worked, because that was missing—the focus of the spirit of the living God.

Now  Will  I  Sing  To  My  Wellbeloved

Grace Van Duzen   August 6, 1987

“Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.”

Jesus came, in the name of  the Lord. Yet He did not say, in this instance, “… he that cometh in my name”—in Jesus' name—but “… in the name of the Lord”. The name of the Lord is I AM. Uranda brought the name of the Lord: I AM, he said, and pointed to the fact of the true Vine which found focus in the LORD of Lords and KING of Kings. Martin came, and brought to focus the name of the Lord: I AM.

“Ye shall not see me henceforth,” ever again on earth, till the name of the Lord is spoken through His body, through the true Vine. This is the day when His Body reveals His presence in the earth—gone is the misconception that the individual manifestation of the One called Jesus would appear again on earth as an individual. He moved through the experience of fallen man, the focus of mankind, in an individual sense, and proved that it was possible for divine Man to be on earth, in this day, just the way things are. Because of that, it was possible for mankind to come through. The concept of the so-called wheel of birth and death no longer applied to Him. He finished the work in that incarnation, and the next step was for His body to finish it in the sense of all mankind on this planet.

“I AM the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman... Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples”—my body on earth.

In Isaiah there is a remarkable chapter depicting mankind as he presently is, in all the degradation of today! But the first verse is poignantly beautiful:

“Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill;

“And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.”

"My wellbeloved”—our Great King, and those who have come in His Name (Uranda and Martin)—“hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill.” This planet, of all in this solar system, this family in the heavens, is the one fitted for mankind. He could not exist anywhere else. “A very fruitful hill” indeed—what Immanuel Velikovsky called the optimal place in the solar system for man, the only place.

"And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof,” he prepared it, with just the right amount of oxygen, soil, water, influences of the other planets, the sun and moon—just right. “And planted it with the choicest vine.” Into this vineyard he “put the man whom he had formed.” The vineyard is called the Garden, in Genesis. Isaiah called God's crowning creation, Man made in His image and likeness, the body of God on earth, “the choicest vine.”

Isaiah said that the wellbeloved looked for the vine to bring forth grapes and it brought forth wild grapes. The wording, of the same thing, in Genesis, is: “Cursed is the ground for thy sake ... thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth.”

The Tree of Genesis and the Vine of Isaiah are the same. In Revelation we read: “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life.” To eat of the tree of life, as man was created to do, is to let the true vine be restored, and that means the Body on earth, which is intertwined, in love, in true oneness. It cannot be done any other way. In the chapter on the Vine Jesus said, “This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.” It is a wonder and a joy to see this coming on earth now, in these days, a body of responding angels who are learning the true meaning of love, as He has loved us. How has He loved us? By finishing the work which He was given to do, by letting it be absolute, making it possible for this Body now to have form. That same individual absoluteness of oneness with the Lord, I AM, is what is allowing His Body to finish the work for this planet, this vineyard of our wellbeloved, with its “choicest vine.”

I note an interesting reference in this chapter in Isaiah, to “a tower in the midst of it.” Velikovsky has hinted at a provision, in the early days of this planet, whereby a connection was present in a very definite way with Saturn, and referred to it as a tower—albeit probably of the substance of Light. There is the probability that man interfered with this, in whatever way (perhaps what we would call space projects, etc.) and that this is the real meaning behind the story of the Tower of Babel, where man's self-active function seeking to build an edifice “whose top may reach unto heaven,” brought upon this earth the deluge, the cosmic catastrophe which nearly destroyed the planet and did much harm to other bodies in the solar system.

It was perfect, this vineyard of the wellbeloved. There was “a tower in the midst of it, and also (he) made a winepress therein.” Everything was perfect for life to manifest on earth, the means whereby the grapes could be made into wine, the wine of life. “And he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.” The manifestation of life on earth was out from under the control of the husbandman, of the Spirit of God, and it went wild—certainly a description of mankind today!

But, the One whose vineyard it is, the wellbeloved, created it. He experienced the Way by which it can all be made Right, and His body is present nowto Finish the Work which He has given us to do.

“The Tabernacle of the Sun”—all the process in the heavens—Man is the microcosm of all that, and “the tabernacle of God is with men.” Here is God's crowning creation, “made in His image and likeness,” to bring to focus that creation out there—the Tabernacle of the Sun (our solar system) and of the SUN of Suns.

It is all the Tabernacle of the Sun (physical symbol of God) and the actual symbol, the highest-plane spiritual manifestation of it all, is with men—is all contained in man's Being. The design is the same in Man, complete, whole, perfect, as in the Cosmos. Contained in him also are all the kingdoms of this world, animal, etc.

“Ye are the temple of the living God,” we have heard. The Temple of God is with men. The part is all that is seen—with outer vision, the visible, tangible form—yet that is not the form. The Design is in the Invisible realm, as proved when the indwelling Spirit leaves the physical substance it had inhabited; or rather, had drawn to its own form and design.
