Twin Cycles
One Womb — One Creative Current
from Concerning Creative
Cycles
Uranda June 22, 1947
I have often thought of the correlation between that Creative Current which we recognize as a Reality in the Christ Kingdom, and the developments during the past two or three years in the world of science in connection with what is called atomic energy. In my estimation, man's progress in relationship to atomic force is visible evidence in the scientific field that the true Creative Current, as we deal with it in the Third Sacred School, is definitely within the range of perception, and that those who are sufficiently attuned to Reality may have a conscious understanding of that Creative Current and of the means by which they may harmonize with the Principles that will allow the manifestation of that Force as Power in relationship to the expression of life on earth.
Because
of the division in consciousness that is present in what we may call the fallen
consciousness of mankind, the release of any given Current in relationship to
the outworking of the Divine Plan in the world will manifest in what we may call Twin Cycles, one Cycle finding manifestation in what we may call the material
realm on the scientific level, and the other Cycle, which seems to most to be
much more nearly invisible, is one which can be perceived only through the
expression of the Spiritual Life and manifests on the level of Spiritual
perception, understanding and function.
We recognize that, ultimately, these Twin Cycles will blend and move as a single Current, but, for the present,
insofar as the outer world is concerned, they manifest as distinct Cycles,
although they are definitely correlated. The material manifestation of what we
may call the visible Cycle is a sign, as it were, of the existence and function
of what seems to be the invisible Cycle. While very few people in the world
have any clear-cut awareness of the fact that development in the field of
atomic force constitutes positive proof of the existence and function of the
seemingly invisible Cycle, those who have true, or scientific, perception in
Spiritual Consciousness are aware, perhaps vaguely in most instances, but
nevertheless surely, of the implications and the correlations.
I
read a story that was given a setting in the field of atomic research and
development, that brought out rather nicely the distinction that exists between
individuals who have knowledge about atomic energy, which knowledge
may be very extensive, and those individuals who function on what we may call a
deeper scientific level, who not only have knowledge about, but awareness of. The man who, under the pressure of circumstance, may
have developed a great deal of knowledge about, is inclined to think of the forces with which he deals more or less abstractly, and to
function as if he could more or less casually maintain definite control over
those forces. The scientist who has knowledge about, plus true awareness of, is not casual—he has an appreciation of that with
which he is dealing, and therefore a deep respect for its potentials. He does
not take anything for granted; he checks and double-checks, and he is alert to
questions and their implications so that he does not answer such questions in his
own mind with snap judgment, or treat them in a casual manner.
This distinction
is one which may be a little difficult to truly see and appreciate until one
has moved into the realm of consciousness where there is knowledge
about, plus awareness of. One who has only knowledge
about is inclined to consider an individual functioning under the other
classification as being overly fussy, as attaching too much importance to small
details. The one who has knowledge about will generally be
extremely careful about the big things, because, in his estimation, they are
worthy of careful notice and consideration, but he is inclined to disregard the
vital importance of little things. In this story the scientist who functioned
on this basis was extremely studious and had a great deal of ability, but his
lack of caution with respect to a seemingly minor detail cost him his life.
To
the degree that there is a clear appreciation of this distinction, and the
principles are recognized in relationship to our function in connection with
the seemingly invisible Cycle of the Twin Cycles mentioned above, there will be
a deeper appreciation of the necessity of correct function in a realm where
many individuals, who are making considerable progress along the Spiritual
Path, are inclined to be altogether too casual—neglecting to recognize the
significance and implications contained in small details.
Some
time ago, in one of our Services, I undertook to elucidate the Principles and
necessities in relationship to the initiation of Creative Cycles. Let us
attempt to briefly focalize the basic essentials in relationship to this
matter. It must be recognized, in advance, that the individual who is
interested in this level of consideration has, properly, been prepared by a
background of instruction, realization and training in connection with the
fundamental Laws and Principles as they are expounded in the Third Sacred
School. Therefore, trusting that the background consciousness of the individual
is sufficiently prepared, we will come immediately to the point.
That
which may be called the Womb, essential to the bringing forth of a Creative
Cycle, is, generally, in the world as it now is, a state of being and
consciousness hedged about closely by innumerable limitations. Into this womb,
contained within the body of limitation, there must come the flow of the pure
Inspiration of the Spirit as the impregnating Force. When there has been a true
conception within the range of Spiritual Consciousness, properly focalized in
the Creative Field, a specific, though from an outer standpoint more or less
nebulous, and as yet invisible, form begins to develop.
As the conditions
essential to that development are maintained in correct focalization and
polarity in a Spiritual sense, the form grows according to the pattern so
established, and gradually expands to fill the limited space established by the
encompassing limitations. Until that space is filled, the visible results of
that conception in the Creative Field cannot begin to manifest. Gradually, as
polarities and focalizations are maintained, the walls of the womb, within the
area circumscribed by limitation, begin to be subject to pressure from within.
As that pressure mounts, the surrounding limitation begins gradually to give
way. When the pressure reaches a certain point, and the whole process has been
carried forward correctly, there is always present a properly developed channel
through which the form may come forth into manifestation, or, as it were,
experience birth.
When the form has come into manifestation, it must be treated
with all the care, understanding, appreciation and love that are properly
bestowed, for instance, upon a new-born babe, but in this case the
understanding and care must be focalized in the higher levels of the Spiritual
Consciousness, which permit a recognition of those things essential to the true
growth and development of the form, that it may ultimately manifest in the full
stature of that for which it was brought forth.
An
examination of this brief outline will give emphasis to the Principles to which
I gave consideration earlier in this discussion, and it will be seen that a truly
scientific attitude in a consciousness that focalizes knowledge
about, and an awareness of, is essential to an understanding
of the means by which the initial conception in the Creative Field becomes
possible, and will show the need for a true understanding of, and harmonization
with, all the fundamental Principles of Creative Activity during what we may
call the pre-natal period as it has been outlined, and it will emphasize the
necessity of the proper preparation of the channel by which manifestation is to
be permitted, plus the great necessity of being prepared to properly care for
the form when it is brought into manifestation.
In the world as it is, there is
seldom any real appreciation of the form that is brought forth, except in those
who have participated in the processes by which the form comes into manifestation.
Just as, in the field of physiological parenthood which, all to often, becomes
a fact through too casual an acquaintance with biological urges, there are always
innumerable people to give much advice, but very few who are willing to share any
responsibility, so also, in this field the same thing is true in amplified
form. When this is recognized, there will be a deep appreciation of the fact
that he who functions in relationship to establishing and bringing forth
Creative Cycles in relationship to the Spiritual Level of Being, must of
necessity have an awareness of what he is doing if that which he is undertaking
to bring forth is to ever come into manifestation through the processes
symbolized by birth, or, having been born, if the form is to grow and develop
to a point which we may call maturity.
So many factors are intangibles from an
outer, ordinary, viewpoint, and are either completely overlooked or are treated
with a great deal of casualness, so that significance and implication are
ignored. The result is that there is no birth of a true Creative Cycle, or, if
the Creative Cycle does come into manifestation, it never has an opportunity to
reach a point of maturity in manifestation. There must be a deep and abiding Realization
of the Reality of these forces, and especially of the central Force, in the
Creative Current.
There must be an appreciation of the Principles that are involved, and harmonization with the Laws under which the whole process is carried forward. There must be an appreciation of the Cycles, or seasons, that are involved, so that
all of the steps are taken in proper sequence at the right time, and above all there
must be, throughout, a close attunement, in Spiritual Consciousness, by reason of
which the inspiration of the Spirit is permitted to govern the whole Cycle of
outworking.
It
is seen that one cannot just wait for a Creative Cycle to come, somehow or other,
into manifestation. In this field of function one cannot hope to adopt an already
manifest form in the Creative Field. Each one must let himself undergo the periods
of instruction and training essential to the development of knowledge
about, and awareness of, so that he himself may be in position
to focalize the entire process, from the point of its primary inception, or
that which is illustrated as corresponding to conception, on through to full
manifestation from within himself.
Even a more or less vague awareness of these
things will engender a deeper understanding of the Cycles of outworking that
have been made manifest through my Ministry, for instance, and with such
appreciation and understanding the individual is in position to move steadily
forward to that point where he may be so thoroughly established in correct
polarity that he may let the essential focalizations manifest within the realm of
his own consciousness to allow a true bringing forth of that which he
essentially is, that—with the manifestation of that—he may find himself
definitely placed in the Unit that is the Nucleus of the One Christ Body, so
that he may, in the Oneness of that Body, actually participate in the Creative
Work which is essential to the Fulfillment of that to which we have been
ordained.
Lest
there be misunderstanding on the point, let me emphasize that there are two
primary reasons for my utilization of illustration from the field of atomic energy:
first, to help increase the conviction of the Reality of the energies available
in the Creative Current which I have designated as the seemingly invisible
Cycle, which requires Spiritual Perception in order to develop awareness of it,
and, secondly, to show that as knowledge, awareness, exactness and carefulness
are essential in relationship to function in the field of atomic energy, these
necessities are even more important in the Field of Spiritual Energies in the
Creative Current of which I have been speaking. If anyone should allow his
attention to be centered too much in the field of atomic energy, in an effort
to develop understanding in that field because of my illustration, he will have
missed the point entirely, for the true focalization of attention that is
essential is with respect to the Spiritually discerned Creative Current.
