I Have Chosen You
To Be My Body
Martin Cecil May 31, 1987 am
I bring the radiance of the love of my KING. As the substance which you bring resonates with this, then we share the unified radiation of the love of Our KING.
These particular words have meaning to us: “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you.” That choice is revealed to the extent that there is substance within one’s own heart and mind to resonate with the radiance of love. “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, that you may be my body. I live, so my body lives.” Here are the words of the KING. “I have chosen you to be my body.” Those in whom the substance of mind and heart is free enough to resonate with the love of the KING compose His Body. You who are present here this morning bring your substance of mind and heart with you, presumably to offer this to the KING. This is the only reason for our presence together in this setting, representing, no doubt, others in other places who also bring the substance of their minds and their hearts to the KING. We are the ones who participate in this particular evidence of His Body.
We are aware, I’m sure, that while in our self-centeredness we may have thought that we chose to be present, we are in fact present only because we have been chosen, because there has been whatever measure of resonant substance in our hearts and minds so that we are here in a very particular and specific sense this morning. If we still imagine that we chose to be here, we are not here. Only those are really present who have been chosen because the substance of mind and heart was sufficiently resonant to the radiance of love. That is a compulsion which could hardly be resisted. This is the case when the substance of resonance is of sufficient quantity and quality: then we begin to become humble.
We may say, “My mind, my heart, my body are here because they heard the King’s command.” No longer is the attitude taken: “I’m so important and capable that I can choose whether I shall be present or not.” That is human nature speaking, isn’t it? If any such view still persists, to that extent there is an absence of resonant substance, there is what may well be described as a holdout: “I am still going to retain my concept of separation.” But we come physically, mentally and emotionally, because there is the substance which resonates with the radiant love of the King. In all honesty we would never deny that, because if we do we deny the King. If we say, “I’m here of myself, I made the choice,” that is saying, “I’m still a very important human being.”
Body, mind and heart are brought in response to the radiation of the love of our King. And it is the substance of our love, present in mind and heart, that brought us. With this awareness it is so easy to be deeply thankful. If as human beings we still imagine that we are in command and can do as we please, come or not come, we simply fool ourselves and deny the King.
So we understand these words: “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit.” This fruit is the radiance of love brought into the body of mankind. That radiance is invisible. It has been invisible to us, but it brought us nevertheless. We may have heard words. We may have been willing in heart and mind to draw close to the love of our King. The power of attraction has been experienced, but you really cannot put your finger on what that is. “The light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” This does not mean to say that the light didn’t work. It merely indicates that human beings don’t understand it; they don’t comprehend it; they can’t define it.
We realize this in our own experience, but that magnetic power is strong and, in spite of the kicking and squealing that we have had reference to before, if there was sufficient resonant substance, heart and mind came: they couldn’t help themselves. I’m sure we have reached a point where we are willing to acknowledge that, so there is no more human arrogance which says, “I came of myself. I chose to come.” No, you didn’t. If you think you did, you didn’t come. Only those have come whose resonant substance has been adequate to bring them. If this substance does not prove to be adequate, then that heart and mind haven’t really come. [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/2021/08/resonating-with-radiance-of-love.html]
So we share this unifying experience to the extent that there is a willing, open acknowledgment that we come because the love of our King has drawn us. And we come to compose His body on earth. It is His body, it is His spirit. His thinking, His feeling, His action. As human beings we have no input. This is a denial of the god of democracy. There is an idol that has been worshipped and still is—perhaps usefully along the way. It certainly was a means by which certain structures in human consciousness have been freed up. However it has also had the effect that other structures have been firmly entrenched. For those of us in whom there is sufficient resonant substance, there is no feeling of being imposed upon at all. Quite to the contrary, there is a sense of freedom. At last heart and mind are no longer under the harsh and rigid rule of human nature in the separated state. Of course much of what human beings do, the way they think, the way they feel, is so taken for granted that it has become quite acceptable. Here is the state of the obedient slave to human nature.
Human bodies, minds and hearts were created to be obedient. They were certainly not created to try to be something of themselves. Of themselves they have no life, and that proves itself out. But composing the body of the King they have life, the life of the King—not the life of individual human nature, the life of the King. That is differentiated, certainly, in a multitude of unique and marvelous ways, but it still remains the life of the King, so that there is cohesion, blending, a unified state, with all the wondrous ramifications and colorings of the spirit of the living God.
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you to be my body, ordained to bring forth life and to bring it forth more abundantly. The radiance of the King pouring forth through His body engenders resonance in any substance throughout the body and the consciousness of mankind which is free enough to resonate. One might recognize this as a very foolproof system. It separates the substance which resonates from the substance which doesn’t. Obviously it has an individual effect for each person, but it has an effect more importantly with respect to the whole.
Human beings, self-centered, are concerned about themselves individually. But the truth is that there is One Body, and the individual composition of this body is only validly present to the extent that it participates through resonance in the body of the King. The true state, the only valid state, the only lasting state, is the state of wholeness. As long as individuals extract themselves from that they lose all meaning. In such case those who are most successful in extracting themselves from that, and in feathering their own nests, achieving their personal ambitions, are the most meaningless, because all meaning is in the whole.
“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you”—as a body—“that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain.” The first fruit is the body itself. We can see that it is well designed to remain, in the sense that if cells pass out of it, cells also come into it.
We have a state in the world which human beings have made, where what is thought of as death is predominant. It controls virtually everything that human beings do, principally through fear; and of course fear has been used by human beings, the fear of death particularly, to whip others into line with the self-centered human state. This has been done quite deliberately. It has been done very particularly through various religions, but of course it has been done politically and every other way, by the use of fear—fear of AIDS, [Covid 19 these days] fear of death, as though in the human state one wasn’t going to die anyway. Why be so afraid of it? So the first fruit is the fruit of the body which remains; it’s a continuing body. This is not the ultimate. This is the way it is now.
“That whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” What would we ask of the Father? Self-centered human beings have asked all kinds of things: Help me, satisfy me, make me happy. But this is speaking to the Body. What does the body ask the Father to do? To be in command, presumably, to be in command through the Son, to do what needs to be done because of that. Who knows what needs to be done? The Son, presumably, the King: Let that will be done; “not my will, but thine, be done.” This happens, not on the basis of fear of death but rather on the basis of love of life, love of the life of the King in form on earth, because individually we are all present to let that happen. One might call it the fulfilment of the King. Because there are those who compose His body. His body may share in that fulfilment, but not for themselves, just for the King.
Even from the human standpoint in your own body, if your body experiences health, clarity of mind and heart, that enables you, whoever you are, to experience fulfilment. The mind, the heart, the body, share in that, but it is your fulfilment. So with the body of the King: the body, with mind and heart, shares in the fulfilment of the King. That is fulfilment indeed.
“I am the resurrection, and the life.” Here is the word of the King. I am the resurrection and the life of my body. Here is the first fruit. “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” That which dies is potentially dead. Presumably our concern has been to let human nature die. That’s good death!
“I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” Though he was potentially dead—which is true of human beings in general—yet shall he live. And this is based in what was translated as belief. We have seen something more with respect to belief. I would like to substitute the word resonation. “He that resonates with me,” rather than “he that has a mental concept about me.” Belief has tended to be that, hasn’t it? And if the emotions can be included, so much the better. What arrogant self-centeredness. Would it not be wiser to say, “My heart, my mind, are beginning to experience some resonation with the invisible radiance of the love of my King; this sweeps away my human-nature identity”?
The resonation belongs to the King. It is resonating because of the radiant love of the King. Withdraw that radiant love of the King and down it goes; it isn’t anything. Like that sand in the cymatic experiments, as long as the vibration is there, the vibration of radiation, it will stand up in whatever form according to the frequencies involved. But stop the radiation and down it goes, it becomes inert. It has no life of its own; it can’t stand up of itself. This is what human beings have been trying to do. They have the illusion of being able to do this just so long as the radiation of love is present and there is some substance remaining which will vibrate with it a little. When substance ceases to vibrate, down it goes; it’s all dependent on the resonation. And if we see the word belief in these terms we begin to understand what it is that is being said. [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/2021/08/the-morning-stars-and-sons-of-god.html]
“I am the resurrection, and the life: he that resonates in me”—that is, in my body—“though he were dead”—before that, potentially perhaps for the moment—“yet shall he live. And whosoever liveth and believeth”—resonates—“in me”—in my body, unified with my spirit—"shall never die. Believest thou this?” Does this resonate in you?
There may be those who still scratch their heads a little and wonder, not sure what it all means, still a certain amount of uncomprehendingness around, even though the light is shining, even though the radiance is there. And the radiance is there, with everyone, as long as life remains: so no one is being excluded. But what is the quality of living? To what extent is there substance available to resonate with the radiance of love? By our own attitudes and ways we determine how much of the available substance has been stolen. A little hangs around for a while and we imagine that we are alive. It isn’t life; it’s just animated flesh!
Life is entirely different, because there is no life outside of this Body of the King. In the Word is life. In the radiation of love is life, and the life is the light of men. It is the radiation present in all people if they are alive in the limited sense, if there is animated flesh around still; if the light shines in the darkness of human consciousness, then that consciousness comprehends it not. We begin to comprehend it to the extent that the resonation has lifted substance to the conscious level. Then suddenly we begin to see something. The trouble with that is that all too often the person thinks, “Ah, now I see it.” Oh, no, just a little glimpse. Let it continue, let it keep moving. Here is the creative process at work. Resurrection is taking place. Let it take place. Don’t interfere with it by grabbing hold of it and saying, “Now I know.” Heart, and mind never really know. They know just so much. In the true design they know what they need to know, they experience what they need to experience. That’s sufficient; it fills heart and mind.
You may recall the story of that day of Pentecost long ago: “They were all with one accord in one place.” That was remarkable! “And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.” It filled the whole—there was something of a body. We may see this, not in relationship to something in the past but to our own experience. We are aware of a rushing mighty wind of spirit, which moves—it is the creative process. If there isn’t much substance to vibrate, then we are not too much aware of the wind. If the substance is not there, there is no wind. So it is the movement of the substance of spirit within ourselves in heart and mind that brings awareness of the wind of the creative process. And it is not something that merely happens individually; it happens because there is a body. It filled the whole house where they were sitting, relaxed in the body, part of the body.
There is a body, so there is a facility for the movement of the wind—the unified movement of spirit through the body in doing what the body is here to do because the King is present. Could we conceive of a greater honor and privilege than to provide the means by which the King may be present with us? Is it something that we can receive casually? I don’t think so. It is a marvel. It is a wonder. We may not have known that it was a marvel and a wonder because we were so blind, so insensitive, so unaware, so uncomprehending: but as the substance is raised up, as it resonates with the radiation of love, it reaches the point where one may become aware of the truth of it, aware of the Presence of the King, aware that I have, as an individual, no being whatsoever, except by reason of the King. I delight to differentiate the spirit of the King in my own unique way, but always that unique way is found to resonate with the unique ways of others. There is no conflict. Each color, as it comes forth, enhances the colors which are coming forth through others. And we share the beauty of the King, the power of the King, the glory of the King.
All the substance present, in mankind particularly, which will resonate with this outpouring radiation shall be lifted up into the living design; and all that will not resonate simply drops back into a state of availability. It will be lifted up again later in some other way. We do not concern ourselves that the creative process at work does not know what it is doing. It works with utmost accuracy. We rejoice to share in this. It brings assurance and constantly increased understanding, so that what finds expression through us individually may mesh in the whole. It never goes off as though it was separate from the whole.
Here is the glory of the Lord, emerging into our awareness, and into an outpouring radiation which is comprehensible to us; but it shines in the darkness, for the most part, in the body of mankind. It is not comprehended. This does not mean it is not working. In fact it apparently works rather better in human beings when they don’t comprehend it. When it begins to come to the level of consciousness they revert so often into arrogance. We rejoice in all these things and have shared this radiation with our King because of the level of wholeness that may be present consequent upon the resonant substance that we bring.
