If we are to function properly, the purpose of function is to Let Love Radiate to all alike—regarding no one as enemy. We must radiate all of the time, as the sun shines, not being concerned about focalizations of evil. If you start looking for them, you will think you find them everywhere; you will start imagining things. The thing to do is to remember that the Body has one job, and that is to Let Love Radiate. And when, on the basis of correct function, under the direction of the Head, we do meet opposition—that is, deal with it—it will be on the basis of Love, because it is the only basis upon which we can act. Most of this might not appear to the human concept as real at the moment but that is beside the point. Since there is a Christ Body and there is a radiation of the Fire of the Christ Love, those within the scope of our radiation have, automatically, the opportunity to know, and if it were not for that radiation there would not develop a focalization of opposition—therefore, when the focalization of opposition appears, it has already had its opportunity. It would not take form on the basis of opposition unless it had had that opportunity; therefore we deal with it on the basis of its own judgment of itself. That is the principle involved. So, except as it may be brought out for consideration by the Head, the members of the Body are not to concern themselves about dealing with the dark forces, or opposition, or evil, because if you start thinking about it, meditating upon it, or trying to figure it out, you are going to cease to be a member of the One Christ Body. It can happen awful fast, and I mean awful—full of awe.


Remember always that the basic principles that you have learned all the way through still hold, and except as we give attention to the things of reality we cannot possibly hope to carry through. “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” That should mean more to you today than it ever has in the past. As members of the One Christ Body, unless we are obedient to that Word, it will be as nothing. And that has to be done in really living the Christ Life—not seething inside with resentment. Not just by saying, “I am looking for good things to think about”—and isn't that just about as sensible as the human being is sometimes?


It has to be real. Remember folks, I [the Lord of Truth] always know the difference between the real and the counterfeit, whether I make the test right in front of you and show it up or not. And remember that I am not interested in anything that is counterfeit—it does not impress me; it does not help; it is utterly valueless; and sooner or later I will see that it is tossed out into the garbage. Remember that there is just one type of thing that can be used, and that is the genuine article. Unless it is genuine, it cannot be used very well, and whatever is counterfeit has to be removed. We shall remove it ever so gently and be sure that it is filled with the real if you will let me perform the operation the way I want to do it, but if you insist on trying to work it out according to some concept of yours, you are liable to find on one bright day that with one clean sweep the Sword is likely to lay it right apart, and you can take it or leave it. Unless it is genuine, it is absolutely no good at any time. I tolerate some counterfeit, so that we may not be under the necessity of making spectacles of things, so that we can let these things change gradually and as painlessly as possible, but, sooner or later, that Sword will operate if you insist on trying to do it your way—and that is that.





In my function I actually have drawn the lovely out of each one of you. Everything that is fine and real in you I have been drawing out as rapidly as I could, so that it might be on top, but when there is something unreal inside—and even though you may try to hide it from me, I may let you think you are getting by with it a little while—but you will learn sooner or later that when I look I am not looking with human vision that can be easily deluded. I think you know that already. I have proven it too many times. That does not mean that I am going to arbitrarily reach inside of your heart and yank this or that out. No. I have consistently worked to draw from within you that which is lovely, fine, true, real and noble, that it may manifest effectively. But in that process you find that, willingly or unwillingly, as long as you stay within the range of my responsibility and authority, sooner or later, I insist that the unlovely corners be opened up and that you take a look at them. You may think that you have something tucked away so far and so deep that I shall not know that it is there, or that I cannot find it. I think a few of you could testify that there is no such place to be found.


I have accepted this One Christ Body, in which I have the fullest of love, faith and trust, on the level of its function. I [as Lord of Truth] have unified with it as its Head, and I do not think that my love or my faith could be made manifest any more than it has been—but that One Body has a lot of growing to do, and those members who are in it will have to be, sooner or later, fully purified. Any walls that remain will have to be broken down; anything hidden in the depths will have to be brought to the light. It can be done in the light between you and me before God, without the others looking on, if you will let it be so. But if you do not, one bright day I will rip it off where everybody can take a look at it—and I don't mean maybe.


I cannot make you do anything. I am not interested in making you do anything. The only thing that is any good in this One Christ Body is Love Response and what you do in Love Response of your own volition, because you want to do that more than anything else in the world. Anything that you do under a feeling of compulsion, or because you think I require it, is counterfeit. Many times I have seemed to accept it for the time, because I wanted to give you every opportunity to grow, but anything that is counterfeit is utterly no good. Only what you do that is right for the pure joy of doing right, without compulsion, because it is what you want to do more than anything else in the world—only that done in Love Response is any good.


There is one sure thing. Remember this. This Body of which I am a member is made up of many members. I will not let any member jeopardize the whole. Our responsibility is not just for the members of this Body, but for the world body of responding ones, and as the One Christ Body—while there is a training period, and while I deal with every matter with all the Love that I can, and you know it—there is that which requires that we follow the groove, that we hew to the line, that we let the work be performed according to the Plan—the Blueprint, if you please—and it will be done that way by this Body as long as I am its Head. You know that. But with respect to the necessities of outworking in this Body, it is necessary that I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance, so that you function in that realization. Behold, I make all things new—inside and out, up and down and all around, every whit whole.





These are considerations with respect to the work to which we are called, and things with respect to our function in the doing of that work. It is the greatest work on earth. I have not seen any sign that anyone else was too seriously considering doing the job. To depend on someone else would be the sheerest folly. I am not taking the attitude that there are not any other people in the world who could do the work if they would. Do you see what I mean? We are not the only good people in the world, not by a long shot. I suspect that if we looked around we might find a group of people who might be called even better, who never heard of the Third Sacred School. We do not have any cause for self-righteousness, nor human pride—and pride goeth before a fall. We do not like falls. We had one thousands of years ago, a pretty big tumble—and there have been several since. There have been so many of them that it seems to me that we ought somehow to stop making them. The world is cluttered up with them; the world needs something else; the world needs something that it has not got. So instead of making another fall we would rather have that Open Gateway that lets Heaven come down from God into the earth, that all things may truly for all people be made new.


I should like to read a few words from Revelation 21: “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven, saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.” Have you heard that Voice? The Tabernacle of God is the One Christ Body on earth, in which He dwells, lives, moves and has His Being, and functions to the degree that we let it be purified and made every whit whole. “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.” That is the description in Revelation 21:3—the double three, by the way—of the manifestation of the One Christ Body on earth.

We have taken a new look at that which is recorded in the first portion of the fourteenth chapter of the Book of Revelation concerning the Lamb which stood upon Mount Zion and the hundred and forty and four thousand who were with the Lamb. We see more clearly how this pattern has a direct relatedness to us in this present time. The consideration in this regard followed immediately that which was recorded in relationship to the two beasts: the one out of the sea and the other which arose out of the earth. At the point where we recognize the absolute necessity of being completely uncontrolled by any of the influences, any of the methods, presented by the great red dragon, we are in position to play our part in that which is essential in the unfolding cycles of the Divine Fulfilment. However, it is essential that we should participate in that pattern of completeness which is symbolized by the hundred and forty-four thousand which permits the action of the Lamb to manifest on earth, the action of the positive expression of the Spirit of God, with particular emphasis upon the Spirit of Truth. This relates to the Ministry of the Spirit of Truth on earth.


“These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth.” We saw the meaning of that, in the recognition that the Lamb does not have reference to any single individual but to the positive expression of the Spirit of God which needs to find a channel of manifestation on earth. It is true that specific individual beings provide focalization in relationship to every aspect of the Spirit of God, but here we are considering the Spirit of God in relationship to the hundred and forty-four thousand, or to that complete pattern at any point along the way leading to the place in the outworking where there are actually one hundred and forty-four thousand individual human beings included in the Divine instrument on earth. If we are a part of that which is supposed to be complete at this point we must be following the Lamb whithersoever he goeth; our individual and collective lives must be a revelation of the controlled expression of the Spirit of God on earth; and in this regard it is evident that there must be flexibility, easy movement, in that following process.


In relationship to the working of the Divine instrument on earth there is a specific pattern, and in relationship to that pattern there is provision for control. With respect to our Program here, there are those who carry specific responsibilities in leadership in relationship to our Unit pattern. This assists all of the rest of you to allow a pattern of flexibility to operate more freely in relationship to yourselves. We know how easily human beings get set in habit patterns, how they get into a rut, and if anything arises to threaten the particular pattern of habit the individual becomes disturbed. How often we hear the statement made, “We have always done it this way.” Perhaps it may be about time to try another way.


I do not think that the last word has been spoken with respect to anything. We have certain habit patterns set quite frequently on the basis of what Uranda once said or what I once said, as though nothing ever changed in the way of outer circumstance. Action is so often upheld by the statement, “Uranda said that.” Perhaps he did in relationship to some circumstance back along the way. There was a pattern established with respect to the Children of Israel quite a while back that was excellent at that time; it was what was required; but to try to make it work now would be futile. The principles are the same but the principles need to find their proper application in relationship to present circumstances, in relationship to the vibratory pattern as it is now, taking into account all the factors involved. There is nothing, in the outer sense, the same now as it was back there. There is nothing the same now in this moment as it was five seconds ago. How frantically human beings endeavor to keep things the same! Sameness seems to give a sense of security to many.


If the sense of security is established on the basis of the outer circumstance, we have to keep the outer circumstances just thus and so in order to feel it. That is not true security. When security is centered in God, so that the individual is moving with the current of the Spirit, there is flexibility and it is easy to move in whatever way may be necessary. Just because an old pattern is passing away, there is no need for frantic efforts to maintain it. Let it go! Something new is coming. When we follow the Lamb whithersoever He goeth we cannot stay in one place. It is essential that there should be constant movement because the Lamb does not stay in one place, except as we may recognize the position on Mount Zion—but that which is being offered in every moment through the positive expression of the Spirit of God is new in every moment. If we get set in a habit pattern then soon we are separated from the ever-newness of the expression of the Spirit.


We have control patterns in relationship to our Program, necessarily so. This is a basic principle of being, and it is the acceptance of control patterns as they are established in the present moment, so that the Divine Government begins to become operative on earth, that makes it possible to know that wonderful Spirit—togetherness and Love, understanding, joy—which comes by reason of harmonization in that which is Divinely established. The increasing yielding to the control pattern which is being made evident, so that there is faithfulness in this regard, is beginning to permit an increased movement and experience of the Spirit of God in action. In the measure that there is rebellion or resistance to the controls that are offered individuals exclude themselves from our Program of Ministry. There has been forward movement in this regard, for which I thank God, and that faithfulness is allowing a wonderful experience of something new, something which, insofar as the groups are concerned, has never yet been experienced. But there are evidences that it is coming, and it is coming because at last there are a sufficient number who have come to realize what has been emphasized over and over again all along the way: that it is essential to accept the controls that are established in relationship to our Program, without judgment, without any critical attitudes, but with a willingness to acknowledge this essential requirement, for we have to start in any moment where we are.


We do not have the one hundred and forty and four thousand people yet. We are not at the point of that fulness of completion. We are here, and we are working with ourselves as we are. The only pattern that we can accept is that which is made manifest as we are. Accepting that as it is now established does not mean that it is always going to be this way, but if we accept the pattern as it now is that will permit forward movement to take place so that it may become, in successive moments, what it should be then. So often there has been rebellion against accepting the pattern as it is because the individual judged it to be inadequate. The individual says, “It should not be this way; it should be some other way that I have in mind.” We have to start with that which exists and let ourselves be blended into that, at whatever level that may be, according to the pattern that is there, and then, following the Lamb whithersoever he goeth we let the movement take place, we let something new appear. We do not, on the one hand, endeavor to keep it the way it is; nor, on the other, rebel against the way it is because it is not the way we think it ought to be. We let it be as it is. We follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth, and rejoice in the changes that come, not judging the changes, but letting them be the way they are, trusting God, following the Lamb whithersoever he goeth.





We begin to move and something new begins to appear—first of all in Spirit. There is a new experience in feeling, in our attitudes one toward another, in our feeling for each other, and because there is a newness in the Heaven realm something new begins to appear in the earth realm. We begin to understand that which is essential to ourselves in relationship to this point where we are, according to the measure of that completeness which is now manifest. We can let it unfold so that we may be numbered among these who follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth.


“These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.” Here is the evidence of the fact that they are without fault before the Throne of God: In their mouth was found no guile. The serpent at the point of the fall beguiled the woman, and as long as the self-active mind is controlling there is guile in the mouth of the human being—that which is not truthful, that which is deceptive, that which increases the states of delusion. Those who are without fault before the Throne of God must be perfect, must have allowed the fulfilment of our Master's commandment, “Be ye therefore perfect even as your Father which is in Heaven is perfect.”


What of that which is in your mouths? What of the control with respect to your tongue? Do you ever find that control slipping? Do you ever find your tongue giving expression to something which, when you stop to look at it, you recognize immediately is not of God? How adequate is that control? Here we have that which gives evidence of those who are without fault before the throne of God—”In their mouth was found no guile.” The Word of Truth finds expression through their lips. How closely do you watch your words? Are there words ever spewing forth from your mouths which are the expression of the dragon? I wonder! How complete is the control governing your speech? This reveals those who are numbered among the hundred forty and four thousand: “And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.”


“And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.”


This reminds us of some words which our Master spoke in relationship to the time of the end of the self-active world: “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world, and then shall the end come.” We have the angel flying in the midst of heaven having the Everlasting Gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people. The preaching of the Gospel is that which precedes the end of the fallen world of man. The Gospel is the Good News, the Everlasting Gospel. The Kingdom which is at hand is eternal.


The Gospel: “The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” This is the Gospel which must be preached in all the world, and what makes the preaching of that Gospel possible in all the world? An hundred forty and four thousand. But the preaching of the Gospel begins to appear as there is that in manifestation, adequately complete, which in the unfolding cycles will come to the point where there are one hundred forty and four thousand individual human beings in the pattern. The Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in all the world at the point of the manifestation of the complete instrument for the Divine expression on earth, because that is the point where the control of the Kingdom can be established on earth in relationship to the world of mankind, and consequently the world of mankind becomes aware that it is there. When that is so, obviously the end is very close at hand. In the twenty-fourth chapter of Matthew, which is the record of our Master's words when He was speaking of these things, there is this passage: “Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.” [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/2020/08/summer-is-nigh-martin-exeter-19-1987-it.html]


“So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things.” What things? Our Master had been speaking about wars and rumors of wars, famines and earthquakes and all the rest, but these things have been present with human beings right along. Our Master indicated that not even the Angels of Heaven knew what the date was, but the Father only. But what was He pointing to? Let us take a look at the illustration which He gave. “Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh”—the symbol of the fig tree. Our Master used the symbol of the Vine. We have considered the nature of the Tree of Life. At the point where this tree begins to put forth leaves, being yet tender, is the indication that summer, or the time of fulfilment to which our Master was pointing, is nigh. So it is not a matter of looking out into the world, although certain evidences can be observed out there in the world. It is a matter of looking at the fig tree, the manifestation of the True Vine on earth. When that begins to appear, and Life begins to move in the branches of it so that the evidences of that Life begin to appear as the leaves, then summer is nigh; the point of fulfilment is approaching.


As this takes place there will be certain results made evident in relationship to that which is working out in the world also, but for those who are unaware of the fig tree, unaware of the Divine Provision, unaware of the facilities which God has provided for the salvation of man, the evidences in the world appear to be of a desperate nature. There seems to be no hope; there seems to be darkness everywhere; there seems to be only that which generates fear and which leads to suffering and tribulation. But if there is a recognition, over against that, of the development of the Pattern of the Divine Design on earth which makes possible salvation for the children of men, then there can be rejoicing with respect to the destructive processes which may be observed. That rejoicing is not because we wish anyone ill, but because we recognize that the former things are passing away. So, it is this putting forth of leaves, the bringing forth of the evidences of life in the fig tree on earth, that heralds the approach of the end, for it is thus that the Gospel of this Kingdom begins to be preached on earth.


This Kingdom is a place of control. When there is on earth a Body, an instrument, composed of human beings who are no longer controlled by the dragon through the beast and the false prophet because they have accepted and acknowledged the control that is extended to them by the LORD, then the controls of the Kingdom are established on earth and begin to extend into the world. That is the preaching of the Gospel, the making evident of the fact that the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand because it is right here, no longer something invisible, no longer something that we might know theoretically is within reach, but something that is made manifest on earth—the reality of the Divine control. And as you experience, in whatever measure you are willing to share in it, the putting forth of the green leaves in relationship to yourself as a branch of the fig tree, you know that the point of fulfilment is at hand.


We do not say it must be at hand because we see so much unrest in the world, because we see something building up to a point of climax. We realize that that which is intensifying in the world comes to pass because the Gospel of the Kingdom begins to be preached in the world. That is actually what forces the issue. That is what shortens the time for the elect's sake, those who elect to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom, to let the Kingdom come on earth. As we begin to see these things set forth for us, this Provision of the LORD through the record of our Master's words and the words of the One who wrote the Book of Revelation, we may recognize that we are at the time of their fulfilment in relationship to ourselves. We see that which comes to focus in the present moment.


So many human beings have thought to interpret the Book of Revelation; some fantastic ideas have been developed; but insofar as the actual reality is concerned the understanding appears at the time when it is applicable in relationship to those who consider it. If it is not in point, while perhaps principles may be comprehended its actual application cannot be understood, for the circumstance must be in point which allows the application to blend with the circumstance. Until they both come together the pattern remains merely something which is theoretical, something which may be understood in principle but not something which applies in the unfolding circumstances of the moment. It is only when that which is recorded comes to point in relationship to the circumstances of the moment that it can be seen and understood and comprehended by those who are sharing in letting it appear, those who are standing on Mount Zion, those who are providing the point of union between Heaven and earth, those who are numbered amongst the hundred and forty and four thousand.





You have the opportunity of sharing in comprehension of these things in the measure that you are letting the leaves be put forth on your branches, the evidences of Life revealed through you. So, there may be a recognition of the particular point in the unfolding cycles where we actually are. I would that you might share the vision more fully, so that you might share the fulfilment more fully, for the time is at hand.


Our beloved LORD and KING, we thank Thee for the evidences of Thy provision which we are privileged to behold. Accepting our responsibilities and moving easily and surely in response to the impulse of the Spirit, we would let the Gospel be preached through our lives as the evidence of Thy control is made manifest. We thank Thee that in the situation where we are we may accept it and let it work in us, governed no longer in any sense by the dragon but, following the Lamb whithersoever he goeth, we may be found without guile and perfect in Thy sight, an instrument of adequate completeness at this time to extend the essential control of the Kingdom into the world to guide the destinies of mankind. For only as there is that on earth which is in position to provide a point of government in the world, the Government of Thy Kingdom, is there any hope for the salvation of the children of men. Because we recognize these things to be so, we accept that to which we are ordained in Thy Name, to accomplish Thy works and the fulfilment of Thy purposes, together with all who will take their places in the Divine instrument on earth to Thy Glory, giving Glory to Thee, IN the Christ. There are many evidences, in form, of cycles in motion. We are capable of observing them and of participating in them, in one way or another. But of course there are also other cycles at work which are not so easily discerned. We could call them invisible. Back of all that is visible is the invisible. There are what might be referred to as the earthly cycles, and also the heavenly cycles. These two aspects of creative movement should rightly be coordinated in an effective way here on earth by man. However, having lost awareness of the invisible cycles to a very high degree, the attempt has been made simply to use the visible cycles to advantage in the human sense, presumably for the achievement of human purposes.


What is moving in the invisible sense is, by and large, ignored. The ordinances of heaven are not recognized and there is a failure consequently on the part of mankind to set the dominion thereof in the earth so that the fact that the invisible and the visible are one might be proclaimed. However, whether these things are recognized by human beings or not they are still at work. If, as has been the case during the course of human history, people are intent upon using whatever it is they are aware of to their own advantage, a very confused, disturbed and destructive state of affairs has been produced. There is no way by which this can be any other way, except as the ordinances of heaven are once more set in the earth by man in the fulfilment of his responsibilities. Should no consideration be given to this necessity, then self-destruction is presumably assured.


Recently we have taken note of the compulsion of fear which governs human beings in their existence the way things now are. [The Slender Thread greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/2022/11/the-slender-thread.html and The Origin Of Fear greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/2020/02/the-origin-of-fear-martin-cecil-20-1981.html December 20, 1981] The reason for that fear has been largely forgotten; however, forms of various sorts are put upon it as it arises. It seems, for the most part, that human beings are not prevented from finding such forms in their daily existence. There are apparently lots of things to be afraid of. These surface reasons, rationalizations for the sense of fear, do not of course go back to the origins of fear. We have taken note of the violent events that may have occurred with respect to this planet in times past, seared into the memory of the survivors and therefore a part of the mass unconscious presently. This mass unconscious is shared by every human being on the face of the earth. So fear is present at that very subterranean level and it erupts from time to time into the experience of people, who then place a form upon it; and there are plenty of handy forms around.


But we have noted that one may look beyond those past events in the history of this planet and find a time when fear was introduced into the world, before there was anything yet very much in outer form to be afraid of. In the story of Adam and Eve this is portrayed. But the fear was there because of something else. You may recall it was indicated that they were hiding behind the trees when the Lord God came “walking in the garden in the cool of the day”—no one in sight. “Where art thou?” Finally it was admitted by Adam that he was afraid. What was he afraid of? Presumably there was an awareness of failure on his own part, but the results of that failure had not yet put in an appearance, so there was no form yet to pin on his sense of fear. In other words the sense of fear preceded the forms, which came later. I suppose one could say there was a nameless dread, and we all have some experience of nameless dreads. This has been so in every generation.


But that fear, that sense of fear, was present way back because of human failure to maintain attunement with the Word and there was consequently a deep sense of shame. This shame was so strong that it produced a certain stubbornness, one might say. I think this is an experience that many have known, where one might be ashamed of something in these days but unwilling to admit it. And because there was that unwillingness to admit it, to repent, then the nameless fear put in an appearance: We reproduce this sort of experience for ourselves in minor ways, but the really strong element in all of this goes right back to the original point where the first failure occurred. That all has been built into the mass unconscious, the memory that is there present, and this is part of the makeup of every human being on the face of the earth, something which we all share. On top of that, other things have been built over the ages—we have our nationalities; there are national traits of various sorts which spring out of this original shame and fear. Rising up out of that we have our personal heredities in the more immediate sense. Of course even these reach back to something quite common to all of us. We have some common ancestors, not too far back. Then we have what we ourselves are personally responsible for in our own immediate experience as individuals since we were born on earth, and actually before that, since we were conceived.


So this whole pyramid of stuff comes to an apex in each individual, but the lowest stratum in this pyramid is shame. There is a pyramid of feeling and a pyramid of form. The pyramid of feeling produced the pyramid of form. The shame and the fear which began to govern human existence on earth produced forms of various sorts, amongst them these cataclysmic planetary events. So then there is a great pyramid of form with a base in these horrendous experiences shared by everybody who was on earth at the time. Most perished, but obviously a few survived or we wouldn't be here. But in their survival they carried forward that memory. Over the course of time the memory of the form fades, but the memory of the feeling remains and is triggered into experience by present events. In any case this strong compulsion has been translated in human experience as the compulsion to self-destruction. This compulsion has been carried to its conclusion in every generation. All human beings self-destruct. Some of them do it quickly, some take more time about it, but there isn't anyone who has lived on earth who didn't commit suicide. However this business is undertaken it all ends up the same, consequent upon the fact that attunement with the Word has been lost. If this rather deplorable state of affairs is to be changed, then attunement with the Word needs to be found. That is rather a simple statement which should be obviously true to anyone, but clearly it isn't.


In these millennia of human experience on earth shame, fear, and all the related ill spirits that plague human beings have found a fertile ground for development and have been portrayed as some sort of creature, a dragon for instance, a dragon with a number of heads, representing these various ill spirits which take command of human beings. The dragon rules through his various heads: shame, fear, etc. In the story in Revelation there was also a beast which rose up out of the sea, very much like the dragon. He had a number of heads too, the same number, as I recall—spitting image! Here was the form of the creature, and we can observe various forms that exemplify these spirits. It is said of the dragon, that old serpent, the devil, and satan, that he was the accuser. That was one of his characteristics. He was also the destroyer, and particularly the liar.


There are various ways by which lies are propagated on earth—they are propagated by human beings, but it comes to focus in particular ways. I suppose the media might be included as a head of the beast in form. Certainly the media is used, by those who have the use of it, for devious purposes, not so devious in some cases. It is obvious enough in a country such as the Soviet Union, which provides what people should think, through the media. It doesn't matter at all whether it is factual or not, just so long as it is harmonious to the intents of those who seek to control in one way or another. We who live in this beautiful free world of ours look at such things askance and wonder perhaps whether people are being fooled by that. The question is as to whether we are being fooled too, not necessarily by that. We rise up in indignation and say, “Oh, they're telling lies,” but we read our own newspapers, look at TV and so on, most of the time without recognizing that we are being told lies too, in a little different way perhaps but lies just the same.





If we ourselves do begin to proclaim the truth in our living we certainly may expect to stir up some reaction; that's part of the deal. I don't know whether you were aware of that! There are those who certainly are open to receive the truth, up to a point at least. It seems the truth needs to be offered in small doses for people to receive it. What a wonderful thing if it could be provided quickly. Unfortunately, if it comes too quickly too many people would exclude themselves from receiving it, whereas if it was a little more gently and slowly offered perhaps they could more easily accept it, step by step. However in these days, with things leading to a crescendo of some kind, [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/2017/09/vibrational-martin-exeter-august-24.html] there isn't all that much time to be gentle about it—it can't be put off anymore if anyone is to survive. And so, behold, I come quickly in these days—that is, the way, the truth and the life come quickly, and it emerges into experience individually speaking. That emergence either will be received with rejoicing, because the individual finds that he can't do anything else—however others have no intention of receiving it. They see a threat to their involvement with the dragon and his heads. They identify themselves as angels of the dragon—they wouldn't be without their fears and their hates and their resentments and their envyings and their jealousies and their greed, and all the rest, for anything. There are a lot of people like that. There are a lot of people who have engendered within themselves an enjoyment of conflict, for instance. Oh there are those who love an argument, and for some, if it comes to blows, so much the better; let's have a good old donnybrook! There would be no spice to life if we couldn't get into a battle once in a while.


Of course all this springs out of this mass unconscious, where the compulsion to self-destruct is present. Aren't we clever? We have nuclear weapons; we can do it. We can self-destruct, everything, even perhaps blow the planet apart one of these days. That's the delightful conclusion to which human beings have been dedicated for so long; finally it is coming to fruition. Isn't that tremendous? Everybody should be rejoicing. This is what they want, after all. This is the compulsion that they have been espousing. We have done it too, by the way, and are still doing it to some extent. So there will be conflict, there will be a continuation of shame and fear and hate, because human beings have liked it that way, they wanted it that way, they chose it to be that way. Few have been able to admit that or acknowledge it with respect to themselves. They may see it as it relates to others, and there is always someone else to complain about. How about us? Do we still indulge ourselves in this way when something rises up in our own personal lives? A feeling rises up and we, in our expertness, instantly clothe it with a form of some kind so that it is rationalized to us and we say, “That is the cause for my feeling.” It isn't. The cause for the feeling is well hidden, completely subterranean. You can't get to it.


There is this present with respect to all of us; it is still there. We are connected up to the mass unconscious, same as everybody else. So there are these feelings which rise up and upon which we pin forms, we rationalize. We are expert; after twenty thousand years of doing it human beings have become very proficient. In this sense: Before ye call, I will answer. It seems as though the form came before the feeling, but it isn't so. The feeling came before the form. We are so quick, so agile, that we have a form for it immediately; and because it is so quick we assume that the feeling came because of that form. But every time we do that, every time we find what we assume to be a reason for our discomfort, we immediately align ourselves, attune ourselves, with the dragon and the beast. We believe a lie and we assume the position of the liar. We may say, “So-and-so did such and such; therefore I had this feeling.” If we take that attitude we are a liar, and if we are a liar, who are we—really now? It seems to me that the devil was a liar from the beginning—so we align ourselves with that, an angel of the dragon.


But we recognize that what is present in the subsurface levels of the unconscious, and in the deeper unconscious too, must somehow be cleared, burnt away shall we say; because as long as that exists human beings are going to be governed by it. This has been customary. So somehow or other it needs to be disposed of. How is it going to be disposed of? Is some great heavenly power going to put in an appearance and eliminate it all? Well there wouldn't be any human beings left if that happened. No, it must be done on earth by reason of human beings. It is not exactly done by them, but they must be present to let it happen. It is done by the spirit of God—it is done by the Word. So all the stuff that is present at the unconscious levels—individually from the standpoint of immediate personal heredity; from the standpoint of national heredity; from the standpoint of human race heredity—all must be dealt with.


It is not going to be dealt with piecemeal. That would take quite a while, wouldn't it? There is quite a history back of the human race. But initially it is a piecemeal matter because there must be those who learn to provide the means by which whatever it is that arises may be correctly handled. We have to some extent cast ourselves in that role. It doesn't matter what it is that arises, it has to be dealt with. We are here on earth for that purpose; therefore we can anticipate that things are going to arise. They must; we would be useless unless they did. So we may be aware that “for this cause came I into the world.” And there will be feelings arise. We have become so habituated to clothing those feelings with forms, that we imagine the feelings were generated by the forms. Now we know better. The forms didn't produce the feelings; we pinned the forms on the feelings. Unpin them! Here is a feeling arising; we know from whence it springs. It springs from the fact of the violation of attunement with the Word, whenever that occurred, whether it was a moment ago or whether it was twenty thousand years ago. So, obviously the only requirement is that there should be attunement with the Word now, in that situation, one might say regardless of that feeling, although the feeling is there. Let the attunement be with the Word. We know what sort of attitude that would produce. Let that attitude be there.


In human experience the rising up of these elements of feeling will surely produce a certain amount of discomfort, because we are considering this matter from the standpoint of those who are no longer dedicated to self-destruction. If we were still dedicated to self-destruction, then we could welcome these feelings and really go to town with them, really make a big splash of some kind, just as everybody seems to be doing round about us. But our approach is no longer that. So there will be, on the one hand, a certain discomfort. Come out of all that, that seeing with perspective vision we may recognize exactly what's taking place; but insofar as our own field of responsibility is concerned, whatever arises arises purposefully, so that we may handle our own feelings rightly. Perfect love casts out fear, so the creative expression of the truth of love—the way, the truth and the life—takes care of whatever it is that comes. We don't react in the usual human way. The feeling of being slighted arising, what nonsense; who can slight the Lord in fact? In imagination perhaps, but not in fact. And so that relates to an absence, no doubt.


So many of these feelings do relate to an absence—of course they do—the absence of the Word in expression, when it gets right down to it. But why concentrate on these absences? Why not consider what is present? How about looking around and seeing what is present, what is available now? There is always something. And what is available now will be found to relate to this absence. There is something. For instance, if a person says, “I feel slighted because I wasn't included in some activity of some kind,” consider the activities in which you are included—are there none of those?—and consider the possibilities contained within those activities in which one is now included, because obviously one will not have seen all that is possible with respect to those. One has been fussing about something that was seemingly absent and ignoring what was present and the opportunity that is there. No one ever properly has the excuse for feeling that he or she was excluded. It's never so. Human beings do exclude themselves by becoming involved in absences, and ignoring what is present in which they are now included and in which they could be more completely included if they would give themselves to that and ignore the absences. There are so many possibilities with respect to everyone, and yet how customary it has been to concentrate on the things that are supposed not to be there. If we could just allow our attention to be given to the opportunities that are there, and to ways and means of taking the fullest possible advantage of those, then where would the absences be? They wouldn't even come to consciousness anymore, and that spirit of being slighted would have been dissolved.





So, giving ourselves to this invisible cycle of spirit that is moving, we find ourselves quite capable of knowing the ordinances of heaven and setting the dominion thereof in the earth. And that is what we are here to do. We are here to associate ourselves with that invisible cycle. It is already moving; it is already there, all ready to be included in our experience and correlated with what is happening in form. To do that the forms have to change, to align themselves with the ordinances that are being set. And we handle what comes to us on this basis, forgetting the absences, and all the reasons that we have found to feel badly in one way or another, and acknowledging what is already present and the opportunities that are thereby provided, and undertaking to take fuller and fuller advantage of those opportunities. Behold, on that basis, I come quickly. All things are indeed immediately in the process of being made new, and it doesn't matter what other people are thinking or saying, or judging or splattering around. None of these things move me, because I am too thoroughly occupied with something rather than with nothing. We share this wonderful privilege of knowing increasingly the ordinances of heaven and setting the dominion thereof in the earth.

There are multitudes of human beings in the world who are stirring out of that which has hitherto been a state of sleep. There are many who are in the process of beginning to open their eyes to that which is evident in the world to those who are already awake. As they stir and awaken they come into position to share in a new vision, to share in an understanding of those things which have for so long been hidden from the children of men. That vision and understanding can come to those who are ready to receive it, as it is correctly offered. Human beings have, at various points along the way, stirred in their slumbers and glimpsed, as in a dream, some of those things which the LORD offers freely, but because there was no adequate instrument of control on earth, no means of maintaining proper centering for those who were beginning to stir, that which was seen became distorted and changed, and those involved deviated into tangent patterns of various kinds. No matter what was felt or touched of the things of God, very shortly thereafter the initial impulse became distorted and was, insofar as any really constructive results were concerned, lost. It is only as there is on earth some means of holding that centering true, and of bringing human beings back when they start to deviate and to go off on tangents, that there can be offered to the awakening ones that which will prove to be a true blessing, that which will make possible the emergence out of tragedy into the blessings of the Kingdom of Heaven on earth.


Insofar as the world as a whole is concerned, tragedy can hardly be avoided. We see it coming. We see it at the door. But out of tragedy it is always possible to bring forth a true blessing, provided that there is on earth that which offers the opportunity. Man has been stumbling along the way for a long time multiplying tragedy, and the LORD, over and over again, has made possible the emergence of the true blessings of the Kingdom out of the tragedies which human beings have brought upon their own heads. As we look back along the way we have been able to see something of the careful manner in which the LORD works out these opportunities by which blessing might come into a world that has so long been cursed—cursed not by God but by human beings. Because we see the great care that has been taken to offer these opportunities to the children of men it may bring a sense of greater assurance to us today. How carefully the pattern was worked out for the Children of Israel, and even though that failed and did not accomplish what was intended, the starting point was provided for another opportunity. The mills of the gods grind slowly but they grind exceeding fine. The way of the LORD is certain. It is certainly true that human beings cannot frustrate it indefinitely. We may be thankful, together with all human beings on earth, that the LORD is full of mercy, longsuffering, and unwilling that any should perish.


As we come to the realization that the ways of the LORD are sure, let us not be deluded into imagining that that gives us license to remain passive, or to indulge in spirits of lethargy. It is really very hard for any alert human being today to be lethargic. The very circumstances in the world are compelling human beings into some sort of action. Unfortunately they do not always know what the action is going to be; they do not know what the control is going to be. If we are going to be forced into action, let us be very sure that we have accepted the proper control in relationship to that action, so that the action that appears is not destructive. As we see that the ways of the LORD are sure, we recognize the truth of this because we accept the responsibility of letting them be made sure on earth. The ways of the LORD are very sure in Heaven. There is no doubt there. But the manifestation on earth has always been an uncertain thing, not because the ways of the LORD were not sure, but because the reactions of human beings were unsure.


The purposes of God will find fulfilment one way or another, but our concern is that the ways of the LORD should be proven sure to the children of men. If the children of men are obliterated from the face of the earth, then they certainly will not know that the ways of the LORD are sure, even though they are proven so thereafter. We are anxious that all those things which have been done by the LORD might be proven worthwhile, so that the fulfilment may come in relationship to living human beings on the earth, but as we accept responsibility in this matter we know that the ways of the LORD shall be proven sure on earth. We cannot tell as to how many shall share in that recognition of proof, but the proof will be there.


It is essential that those who are going to let the proof appear should no longer be governed in any way, in relationship to any aspect of being, by the controls that have been extended into the world, over all the children of men, by that which is symbolized by the great red dragon. We have seen how the patterns of control operate through that which is indicated by the beast which came up out of the sea and the beast which came up out of the earth. There must be those who are in position to meet the issue because there are no control points operating in them from the adversary. Theoretically we have known this for a long time, but we reach a point when it must be the actual manifest fact. If it is not now, and in the days to come, then hitherto we have been wasting our time, and for myself I am not interested in proving that we have wasted our time. I am sure that you are not interested in that either. We are here to prove that we have made good use of our time and that we are ready to acknowledge the control of our KING in the absolute sense. We cannot longer hold out areas of reservation if our lives are not to go for nothing. It has tended to be, in times past, that we have looked toward a point somewhere along the way where finally we would accept and acknowledge the absolute supremacy of the LORD our God in relationship to our lives, completely and wholly. When should that point appear? From my standpoint it has appeared—it is here. We are not looking for something in the future; we are looking for that which must appear now.


Moving forward from the passages in the Book of Revelation which we have been considering, we come to the next chapter, in which we find an outline of that about which I have just been speaking: “And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.”


“And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion.” What is the Mount Zion? We have many passages in the Bible in which the symbol of a mount is used. This is the same place to which Abraham came with his son, Isaac, on the occasion when he willingly offered his only son to the LORD. That mountain was the same as this mountain, and that which Abraham did is the same as is required in relationship to the Lamb on Mount Zion. There was the mount into which Moses ascended to receive the commandments at the hand of the LORD, and coming into the New Testament, there was the mount to which our Master came frequently apart and upon which He was transfigured.



Mount Zion, the high point in relationship to the earth, which makes contact with Heaven, the point at which union between Heaven and earth are established—the point at which man should be, for man makes possible the union of Heaven and earth with respect to this creation. If man does not stand on Mount Zion, then the connecting link which would allow Heavenly things to manifest on earth is missing. And while the Lamb stands on Mount Zion, unless there is some means by which the Lamb can work on earth it means nothing insofar as this world is concerned. The Lamb does stand on Mount Zion, in any case, the point at which the blending of Heaven and earth may take place. God has provided that which is essential insofar as the Heavenly realms are concerned. It is there, standing on Mount Zion—but Mount Zion, insofar as the manifest levels of being are concerned here in the world, has been an empty place. There has been nobody there, or it has merely been that, on rare occasions, certain ones have come to stand on Mount Zion.


There is mention made of a hundred forty and four thousand who were standing on Mount Zion with the Lamb. What is the Lamb? Specific terms give particular emphasis to certain aspects of that thing, but basically they all mean the same thing: the Only Begotten Son of God, the Christ, the Shekinah, the Lamb, the fulness of the Spirit of God. When we utilize the term Christ we may recognize that there is specific emphasis placed upon the Spirit of Love but it includes the Spirit of Truth and the Spirit of Life also. None of these terms refer to an individual, although an individual may give specific focalization in relationship to them. The Lamb gives emphasis to the Spirit of Truth, although the Spirit of Love and the Spirit of Life are included. The Shekinah is characterized more particularly by the Cloud of Glory. That is what is most apparent from the standpoint of mankind and therefore the emphasis is placed upon the Spirit of Life, but included are the Spirit of Love and the Spirit of Truth. Whatever term is used, it actually refers to the same thing—the Only Begotten Son of God, the positive expression of God Being proceeding from God, the means by which God's Will is done, the positive action of the Divine Will appears. The Lamb stands on Mount Zion. This places particular emphasis upon the Spirit of Truth. The essential ministry that is required in the world is the Ministry of the Spirit of Truth. That does not eliminate the Spirit of Love and the Spirit of Life. They are all present. But here is that which is coming from God in positive expression, ready and waiting at the point of contact between the Positive Triune World and the Negative Triune World, and unless something comes up out of the Negative Triune World to that point it has precious little meaning to mankind. That which needs to come up is here symbolized by the hundred and forty-four thousand. This has reference to a specific number of human beings. That many are required to allow the manifestation of an instrument that is adequately complete for the accomplishment of the Divine purposes on earth. Therefore the number itself symbolizes that which is complete, that which is sufficient to allow the manifestation of God's Power in the fulfilment of His Will at any particular point. That completeness must appear all the way through if the actual number of a hundred and forty-four thousand is to be available to God for the fulfilment of His purposes somewhere along the way. It is not as though there could be a sudden manifestation, just like that, of a hundred and forty-four thousand people prepared and ready to go to work. The completeness must have appeared in relationship to fewer numbers if that larger number in completeness is ever to appear. You can recognize, then, in relationship to your own field of responsibility that the hundred and forty-four thousand relates to you because there is a proper pattern of completeness with respect to that for which you are responsible now. Of course, the particular field of completeness which is yours is a part of a greater field of completeness with respect to our Ministry as a Whole.


The Lamb stands upon Mount Zion. The Divine provision is there. All that is essential to the Ministry of the Spirit of Truth on earth is provided by the LORD and is waiting for that adequate form of completeness to appear now. The Lamb is not just waiting for a hundred and forty-four thousand people, although that is part of the outworking at the proper time, but there must be that in an adequate expression of completeness at this point if that greater point of fulfilment is ever to be reached. So the hundred and forty-four thousand are you and all those who share in this Ministry at this present time, not the hundred and forty-four thousand people yet, but that which is symbolized thereby, a pattern of completeness at this point. What is complete at this point will not be complete in relationship to that which should appear next week, or next month, or anywhere along the way when that time becomes the present.


“And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand”—with Him. Are you with the Lamb? You may recall our Master's words, “He that is not with me is against me.” Are we with the Lamb on Mount Zion at this blending point? That is where we must be if we are to play our part in relationship to the unfolding cycle by which the manifestation of the instrument of a hundred and forty-four thousand people may ever appear. “With him an hundred and forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.” Who is your Father? What name is written in your forehead? This relates to the control point with respect to the individual. We remember that the beast had a number written in the foreheads of those who were controlled by him—and here we have the Father's Name, the control of the Father, through the Lamb. “Having his Father's name written in their foreheads.”


“And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps”—a voice, a sound, a vibration, as of many waters. The voice of many waters is used as a symbol in many places in the Bible. They were all talking about the same thing and they were all utilizing similar symbols, but it is not a repetition. On each occasion it was something fresh and new, the Word of the LORD through the particular individual concerned. The sound of many waters—the Water of Truth. In this particular passage we have an indication of the characteristics of the Lamb. And what is put first? The sound of many waters, the expression of the Spirit of Truth. The Ministry of the Spirit of Truth is that which is required, that which is dominant—so it is put first.


“And as the voice of a great thunder.” That gives the impression of power, does it not? Thunder is the result of lightning. “The lightning shineth out of the east even unto the west”—the Fire which falls from Heaven, the Spirit of God's Love, the Power of God. “The voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps”—the Song of Life. How many patterns there are in the physical body of man through which the currents of life manifest! What tremendous variety there is!—very, very intricate, very, very, wonderful—and all of them are required, blended together and balanced, if the manifestation of life and true health is to appear through the human form. What a wonderful symbol of the currents of life is pictured through the harpers harping upon their harps, something blended in unison, something which brings sweet music. That is the way life should be, not only in the individual body but in the body of mankind, a blended and wonderful thing, a true Song of Life. Here are the characteristics of the Lamb.


“And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the eiders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.” Why could no one else learn the song? Because it can only be sung by those who are on Mount Zion, those who are at the point of union between Heaven and earth, those in whom the Spirit of the Lamb is finding expression, those who have been redeemed from the earth, lifted up, restored, brought back, re-created, to be true Men and Women in Christ.


“These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins.” Here we have that which has caused a very great deal of misunderstanding, for, in fact, those who are symbolized by the hundred and forty-four thousand, are both male and female. This is talking about being defiled. How do human beings defile themselves? We were considering something in this regard in relationship to the Seven Spirits Before the Throne of God, and their opposites. The Spirit of Purification is one of the Seven Spirits Before the Throne of God, and the spirit defilement was the opposite. We saw how that related to the impure heart—uncontrolled emotions. Human beings committing adultery with that which is properly below them, in the sense of becoming subject to it and blending with it on that basis, defile themselves. They become negative to that which should be negative to them, and consequently there is defilement. And how do they do it? Through the wrong use of their emotions. We are to be virgin in that sense, so that we are centered in the LORD and in the Lamb, and refuse to blend, or to have union, with anything that is properly below us.



“These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth.” Of course, where human beings imagine that this refers to some individual—Jesus, for instance—the picture is ridiculous, but when we recognize what the Lamb is, naturally we follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. For when the Spirit of God is allowed to control, then our lives are governed thereby.
