Spiritual  Union

Martin Cecil   May 14, 1978

The spirit of the womb—recently we have been sharing a particular consideration in this regard, not only a consideration but a participation. When human beings think of motherhood the emphasis is generally upon children who put in an appearance in physical form. The birth of physical form is considered to be all-important. A very inadequate appreciation of spirit is usually present. This pertains to all human experience, doesn't it? The form of things is thought to be of the greatest significance.

As angels our primary concern is with spirit, consequently with the heaven rather than the earth. We are aware of the oneness of heaven and earth, so if concern is with respect to the heaven it is also, incidentally, with respect to the earth. The earth is not neglected if we pay attention to heaven. So our concern relates to spirit particularly; the spirit of the womb may be in the forefront of consciousness. This spirit makes possible conception by the spirit of love. Conception requires a setting. The setting is the spirit of the womb. Most people think of it as the womb. It may be said that we have a physical setting by reason of this Chapel, but the Chapel of and by itself has very little significance. There are numerous buildings on earth presumably of a sacred nature and while the architecture may be striking, even beautiful, the building itself has precious little significance merely as a physical building. It only has significance, if it does, by reason of people. We know this to be true of this setting this morning; there certainly is the potential of meaning by reason of the presence of people, which means the presence of angels.

Angels dwell in heaven. Angels are therefore concerned with spirit, and so this morning we are concerned with spirit rather than merely with form. Form is important; a building gives us a setting. Our own physical bodies are significant because they make possible the presence of angels. But our concern is with the heaven, with the spirit of the womb and with the spirit of love. The conception of the spirit of life is made possible by reason of the spirit of the womb and the spirit of love. As a particular configuration of angels this morning you all have a special responsibility related to the spirit of the womb. I have a special responsibility related to the spirit of love. As union is established between us there may be a specific conception which relates to a specific focalization of the spirit of life. In season there may be the birth of whatever is now conceived, so that life may increase in living form on earth.

We might recall something of the process of conception in the usual sense. There can be no conception in the uterus of the mother without spirit. The physical elements may be present but there is only conception because of spirit. This conception occurs by reason of the fact that there is the provision of spiritual substance. The spiritual substance related to the initial seed is there because the physical substance is there, but there could be no physical substance present without the spiritual substance of the proper consistency to allow for the conception by reason of spirit. So the spiritual substance is essential if there is to be conception. The conception itself is made possible not only because there is spiritual substance but because there is also spirit—a focalization of spirit. The focalization of spirit may impregnate the spiritual substance that is present. The spiritual substance that is present relates particularly to the spirit of the womb. The spiritual substance that is present therefore is primarily your responsibility. The spirit of the womb emerges into experience to the extent that there is spiritual substance present. To that extent you begin to know the reality of the spirit of the womb.

It is, as we have already noted, a spirit of enfoldment, a spirit of encompassment, a spirit of containment. It is a rich spirit by reason of the fact of the substance that is present. And so there may be a direct experience, on the part of all of you who are here present, of this most beautiful spirit, the spirit of the womb of truth. The womb of truth is present that there may be the conception of love in that womb. I have a special responsibility to provide the focalization of the spirit of love which may make possible conception in the spirit of the womb, which is your spirit. There is obviously a blending here, a blending of two aspects of one spirit: the spirit of love and the spirit of truth. The spirit of truth has primary relatedness to the Mother aspect of God, the spirit of love to the Father aspect of God. As there is a blending of the two, conception by spirit may occur. Such conception occurs because the substance of spirit is present. The substance of spirit is the substance by which life may be born, after the period of gestation, into particular expression according to the form that has been drawn together to permit it to appear in the world.

We can see here, then, a very special reason as to why we assemble Sunday by Sunday for our services in this setting, or some other setting. All concerned who are present rightly provide what is necessary of the spirit of the womb. This makes a service possible. For many, many years there has been a gathering in the chapel of the time, but it only now begins to be apparent as to why these gatherings took place. Essentially it could be said that there was a creative process by which the spirit of the womb could be present in those concerned, because their momentary living day by day had generated the essential substance to permit it. Observing the experience over the years, it has taken what may seem a considerable period of time to generate adequate substance that would begin to allow a conscious awareness of what it is that is happening. I can speak of these things to you now in such a way that it is possible for you to comprehend and to discern spiritually.

Of course, once more, if your mental apparatus grinds into gear all on its own you will find yourselves at a loss, because the place of our experience is in heaven. The mind may participate in some measure but the experience is of angels in heaven. What is experienced in heaven will certainly be reflected in the earth but only because something has been experienced in the heaven. If nothing has been experienced in the heaven there is nothing to reflect in the earth and the individual, mentally speaking, tends to remain a blank. The mind considers this to be an uncomfortable situation, so it immediately sets about building structures of one sort or another to make its belly feel full.

An important aspect of all this is of course this matter of the generation of substance. It is the substance of truth, the substance of the womb, which is essential. This is a particular consistency of substance. We have taken note in times past of the nature of the substance of truth. That nature has been summarized by the word lust. Of course in human consciousness lust is generally related to something that shouldn't be, at least not according to the good ideas of human beings. We are considering lust when we are considering the substance of truth as lust directed upward, lust after God we might say. But the only way we can lust after God is through His spirit, and in a specific sense the spirit of love.

Lusting after the spirit of love cannot be seen in the light of the human spirit of gettingness. Human beings so often want love; they feel starved for love; so by various manipulations they endeavor to satisfy this appetite. However, their lusting in this regard is in the wrong direction. It is imagined that the fulfilment comes out of the earth, the fulfilment comes out of the realm of effects; and virtually all human lusting, the endeavor to satisfy human appetites, is directed toward the realm of effects. Well that is not the sort of lusting that generates the substance of the spirit of the womb. It generates, rather, a spirit of barrenness, a spirit of void, a spirit of emptiness; and this human beings have experienced, so that they are never satisfied. One may note this in every level of human endeavor. If a person is able to get something more than he had, this simply engenders a desire to get more still. In other words there was no filling of the void. The void was not filled, so there was apparently the need for something more to fill it. Seeing, however, that the lusting is in the wrong direction, it never gets filled on that basis. The lusting, the hungering and thirsting, is properly after righteousness, after the right experience of spirit, the lusting upward in other words, lusting, hungering and thirsting for the spirit of the womb initially. The spirit of love cannot be known except by reason of the spirit of the womb.

I suppose it could be said that the spirit of the womb intervenes between the individual and his experience of the spirit of love. He cannot reach the spirit of love directly. He knows it only to the extent of participation in the spirit of the womb. That is why I have brought to your attention the necessity for the experience of the spirit of the womb in a setting such as this. We have all the ingredients here present for a right conception, and indeed, particularly over recent years, there has been something of a right conception occurring at the times of our services, so that at the proper seasons, after the period of essential gestation, whatever was conceived of life might be born into expression, not only by reason of the womb in which it was conceived but by reason of the whole body of which the womb was a part. Here we see something of Mother God.

So whatever is conceived in a particular setting such as this, to the extent that the spirit of the womb and the spirit of love find union, will be born in season relative to the whole body of what represents the Mother. If there have been evident changes appearing in the lives and the experience of those who have participated, in whatever measure, in the overall, the whole, body of our ministry, it is by reason of the fact of such fulfilment as there has been of the creative process. The creative process requires the spirit of the womb in combination with the spirit of love. Then there is the conception of the spirit of life which, after its period of gestation, will be born by reason of the whole body; and all who compose that body experience something of that birth. It has been interesting to note how angels in far places have been experiencing what angels in near places have been experiencing. We may have, then, an awareness of these creative cycles for which individually and together we are responsible.

If there is the spirit of the womb in your experience and the spirit of love in mine, then you know that spirit of love also in your experience, because there is a setting for it to be present. We move together as one. You know the union of the spirit of the womb with the spirit of love; I know the union of the spirit of love with the spirit of the womb; and in consequence there is conception, conception at the level of spirit. Of course form is present, but what is happening relates to spirit. It relates to the heaven. Just as in the individual sense of procreation when there is conception by reason of spirit, the presence of spirit in the substance of spirit permits the development of the physical form. Physical substance associates itself with the substance of spirit which has associated itself with spirit, and all this occurs in sequence. Spirit comes first, the substance of spirit comes next, the substance of form comes last.

We are concerned that the spiritual setting for conception should be pure and fitting to receive the spirit of love, so that the conception may occur. This is primarily a matter of spirit then, the nature of our own spirit. The nature of our own spirit of course will be reflected through spiritual substance into physical form. One cannot judge the quality of that spirit merely by looking at the physical form. If there is a recognition of the reality of the spirit of the womb and the essential quality that must be present in the spiritual substance related to that spirit, then there is concern that one's spiritual experience should be of the right quality. If there is the right quality of spiritual experience, that will be reflected in physical form and there will be a keen consciousness of the fact that as an individual, as an angel, one is a part of something much greater.

We may this morning think of ourselves as being a part of this particular womb setting, a womb setting which is within the greater body. What occurs in the womb setting will have an effect upon the whole body; it cannot be restricted just to the womb. If there is the conception in the womb then whatever is being conceived is being carried not only by the womb but by the whole body; and coming to birth, as we have noted, there will be an effect in the whole body. So our spiritual behavior will always be seen relative to the whole body; we have an awareness of the fact that we cannot do anything without affecting the whole body.

Our concern, then, as angels, is for the whole body, because it is by reason of that whole body that the birth may occur. Therefore our own personal behavior is always seen relative to everybody else. It is never an isolated experience if we are included in the whole, and we are included in the whole if our behavior is angelic. Therefore whatever we undertake to do in our living reflects itself in the whole. We can't isolate ourselves. We are concerned for the health and welfare of the body through which birth is to take place.

Individually speaking, then, as angels our outlook encompasses the whole and our behavior will be such as to be of value, of benefit, to the whole, and we do not see anything that we do as merely being personal: "Well it's my life, after all; I can do as I please." As an angel? No! Never! Never! There is the state of discipleship relative to the earthly facilities which we use to live and to function on earth. Discipleship is discipline. Here is the body, here is the womb, here is the means by which what is of God may be born into living expression on earth. All this occurs not by chance but because there are those who participate in the means by which it happens, and that participation is initiated at the level of spirit: the level of spirit, then the level of the substance of spirit, then the level of material substance; that is the order.

We may see this in a reverse way if we have been thinking of what has been called the resurrection. Everybody starts out deeply involved with material substance, and there is a necessity of being lifted up to the level of spiritual substance and therefore to the level of spirit. Here is a cycle of resurrection working out. "And I, if I be lifted up…will draw all men unto me." If there is participation in the creative process at the level of spirit then there is a lifting up which is extended out to all people. Perhaps all people will not take advantage of it but it will be there, and there will be those who do take advantage of it. In the ultimate analysis these are the only ones who count. Finally, those who do not take advantage of it are classified as waste. They are classified that way by their own attitude, by themselves, by their own choice, not by anybody else. We're not going around looking at people and saying, "Well you here are a nice responding one, but you over there are waste." Where would any of us be if someone had taken that attitude?

No, we have a fundamental willingness, surely, to participate in the creative process, and it requires something very exact. If the true spirit of life is to be born increasingly through form on earth it will be because there is a pure and perfect facility by which it may happen. The spirit of the womb is on hand, the spirit of love is on hand; they come together in a basic pattern of true union at the level of spirit, and the quality of life that is to appear will be born in season.

I have spoken of these things this morning not particularly to offer you more information—actually the information has already been present with you, available to be recognized by you without my saying a word—but that there might be a sharing in the actual experience by which spiritual union occurs and consequently spiritual conception. Because of the conception there is subsequently the obvious need for continuing in the spirit of the womb, enfolding whatever has been conceived so that it is kept safe and is allowed to grow and develop. If the conception has taken place by reason of you who are here present this morning you have the primary responsibility in this regard, but the whole body also enfolds the womb, so all have a part to play.

You will find that as you do continue in the spirit of the womb because your lusting is always toward the Lord, then the birth will surely take place and all will rejoice in it. There may be some travail in birth but this is not looked upon as a painful experience but as a glorious delight, and as birth occurs upon birth the wonders of heaven emerge into living form on earth. We do not think of this living form merely as relating to this person or that person. We see it as relating to all that is unfolding in the field of responsibility carried by the whole body as the facility of the Archangel. What happens, happens in the world, and we rejoice in the increase of life made manifest in the design of truth, giving glory to God in the highest.

Our song of life is always this—"Glory to God in the highest." This we hunger and thirst for; no longer for any idea of personal fulfilment of some kind but that all that comes into expression in our living may give glory to God in the highest. This is what we love above all. This is our experience of continuous lusting.

Love's  Action

Martin Cecil   May 7, 1978

There is need for balance. We might take note of the fact that balance is properly an individual thing to begin with. If we are swinging back and forth in our daily experience then we find ourselves most of the time unbalanced. Fleetingly we may pass the balance point, but then we are off to the other side. When there is a group of people, however, sometimes a balance is maintained because some are at one extreme and the others are at the other extreme; but possibly there is no one in the middle at all. Of course in the initial stages of the development of this ministry it was necessary to maintain a balance by moving from one direction to the other because there was so much rocketing back and forth on the part of those who were present. As individual balance increases then more begin to assemble near the balance point, if not always exactly at the balance point.

However there are those who may still be inclined to swing to an extreme, and others, in order to keep the peace, may tend to move to the other extreme. If there are a sufficient number of people at the balance point it is quite safe to let anyone who wants to, go to an extreme and let them bump down on the side to which they go to the extreme. Maybe they will either wake up and come back to the balance point or they will fall off. There must be stability, a consistency of the expression of spiritual power. Only at the balance point may that power be generated. It isn't generated at all at either extreme, and if the balance is being maintained because there are those who are at either extreme no power is being generated, even though it may look good for the moment. So let us be concerned individually to be consistently at the balance point.

To be at that balance point requires identification with true cause. Standing at the balance point, identified with true cause, it is then possible to look forth toward the realm of effects, enfolding those effects in the Spirit of the Womb, so that life may be born increasingly relative to those effects. We may recall the Master's words, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” This is the reason for the coming of the Archangel—it is the reason for the coming of the angels—that there might be the increase of life and the evidence of that increase revealed in the realm of effects. Identification is therefore required with respect to cause.

If we dwell in heaven earthly distance makes no difference. We find our oneness in heaven. When we are in the spirit we are always together. It matters not whether the distance apart is fifteen hundred miles or fifteen thousand miles. It could be said that the heaven is the one place referred to in the matter of being with one accord in one place. It is not merely being in one place physically speaking, but being in the realm of cause. Then we are together. I am sure that all of you have sensed this to a far greater degree than may have been true in days gone by. All those who are in any particular geographical position have the responsibility of dwelling in the secret place of the Most High and abiding under the shadow of the Almighty, in which case we are all together under the shadow of the Almighty. And in heaven we are not apart. There is the experience of oneness.

Symbolically speaking we have taken note of the fact that there is in heaven what is referred to as a throne—a throne with four and twenty elders round about; also four beasts, or four living creatures, in the midst of the throne and around the throne. If we recognize ourselves, in identification with true cause, to be the angels who compose the throne and the four and twenty elders and the beasts, then we are together in this configuration. Of course using such terms as these to describe it doesn't really describe it but it does convey a sense of unification, a sense of unification in one thing and also a sense of detail and design with respect to that one thing.

We have a proper angelic association in the particular designs and configurations that compose whatever it is that provides the facility in the heaven upon which there is One who sits. At least this is the way it is put. This refers of course to the reality of God, the reality of undimensional being, something above the heaven where this configuration of angels is seen to be. The configuration of angels provides a facility for the action of the One who is above, and in order that this facility might be unified in its action there is what has been spoken of as “the Lamb.” The Lamb is in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts and of the elders. Here obviously is a point of focus in the heaven, a point of focus capable of directing and doing what needs to be done. The doing itself is only possible by reason of the configuration of angels in the heaven, but as we know, there is always the provision of what is necessary in focalization to allow the coordinated action to appear. Obviously, if we as individuals have the palsy there can be no very focalized action on our part physically speaking. It requires that we be together, and that there be one point of direction, so that we don't dither. Nothing much gets done by a person who is always dithering. He is halting between two opinions. He is functioning on the basis of human judgment, and whatever he does, it will be wrong.

We are not concerned with the human approach but with what is coming down from God out of heaven. And there is a means, in which we play a part, by which whatever that is may come down out of heaven into the earth, into the realm of effects, so that the effects may reflect what is happening in the realm of true cause. So our placement is in the heaven, as a part of whatever the configuration is there.

Before the throne there are the seven spirits of God. Individually speaking, as angels, that is our own spirit which may be seen in this sevenfold way. It is the creative spirit of true cause, by which the realm of effects is governed. As long as there has been no facility for this government the only government known in the world where human beings are is that of human beings with impure hearts and arrogant minds. The true government is of God. The true government springs from the undimensional realm and it emerges through the heaven of the dimensional realm. That is where we as angels belong. Standing in the heaven, we see all things through the creative spirit that is our own. The creative spirit, individually speaking, is in fact the character of that particular angel, but all these characters, all these differentiations of creative spirit, spring from the one spirit of the Archangel. So there is unification. The throne is solid enough to hold the One who sits on it. It doesn't collapse under Him because there are those who are inconsistent, those who are letting the light shine intermittently. Such are useless insofar as the throne of God is concerned. They remain in the realm of effects in the earth. But those who are consistent begin to experience the reality of their own being, which is consistent—the reality of the angel. Here of course is another word pointing to something real, something real that is to be known. When it is known, maybe we don't even need to use the word angel; maybe we'll have our own names by then. The point is that it is the responsibility of those who are in heaven to extend consistently what we have referred to as spiritual expression, which is the spirit of God in action at every level of being, so that it is a whole spirit in expression—the holy spirit.

That whole creative spirit is the spirit of love, revealed by reason of life at each level of our expression in living. There is a spirit fitting to each level. These spirits have been described by using words, but of course to be known they must be expressed. Then we discover what they really are and we do not any longer imagine that we know what they are because we know the words. We have spoken of the spirit of purification, the spirit of blessing, the spirit of the single eye and the spirit of the new earth. The triune spirit of God—Love, Truth and Life—permits these four spirits just mentioned to be the experience at the levels where they rightly find expression: the spirit of purity through the heart; the spirit of blessing by reason of what we call spiritual expression in the realm of effects; the spirit of the single eye related directly to the mind, no more double-mindedness; and the spirit of the new earth applies to the expression at the physical level. But these four spirits are the fitting expression of the spirit of love revealed in living, so that it is always, at whatever level the spirit may find expression, the spirit of love.

We noted that the spirit of truth is the spirit of the womb, the womb in which the conception of love takes place and out of which the birth of life comes. The birth of that life appears at the level of the heart as the spirit of purity and the spirit of purification, the means by which hearts are purified; at the level of spiritual expression, the spirit of blessing; at the level of the mind, the spirit of the single eye; and at the level of the body, the spirit of the new earth. So we recognize that these spirits are not something in and of themselves. They are simply the evidence of the spirit of love in living expression at the particular level in question.

Here is the creative power by which changes are wrought in the consciousness of the body of mankind. We may theorize about such things and find that nothing happens. There may be those who account themselves wise by reason of their ability in this theorizing, but all they have engendered are structures of consciousness at the mental level. These are valueless. Only that has meaning which is actually known because it is the actual experience. In other words there is the acceptance of identity at the level of the heaven in the expression of the seven spirits which are before the throne of God. We each have a responsibility in this regard and we find that there is consequently a collective responsibility that is brought to point, brought to focus, given direction, by what has been referred to as the Lamb.

It is said of the Lamb that He took the book, sealed with seven seals, out of the hand of the One who sat upon the throne and He proceeded to open the seals. The opening of the seals, as I have already indicated, relates to that which finds expression by reason of the differentiation of spirit through the angels who compose the configuration in heaven. The creative power is love. Love must manifest under control at the level where the action is needful. You will note in the Book of Revelation that the levels that are initially needful relate to the first four seals—and the four living creatures, the four specific configurations of angels, also are present with respect to these first four seals. Here is the initial starting point insofar as the creative cycle of resurrection is concerned as it relates to the body of mankind.

These things are not going to happen just because somebody hopes they will or somebody thinks they have faith that it is going to occur. There are a lot of people who imaginatively and in fancy gaze into the heavens expecting the Son of man to come, according to their concept of the way He might come. But what is to happen does not conform to the structured concepts of human beings. It is a very specific creative process and it requires the angels in heaven, with a consciousness of the fact that they are the angels in heaven, but incarnate, in manifestation, in expression here on earth. Then something happens.

We have a certain awareness that something is already happening. It is already happening to the extent that there are those angels who are permitting the right use of their individual spiritual expression as a part of the wholeness of spiritual expression, which is in other terms spoken of as the outpouring of the holy spirit. This is not a magical thing, something just by chance: if we pray long enough it is going to come somehow. It happens when the requirements are fulfilled and not before. So we have been concerned about those requirements, which are recognized to relate to our momentary living. If I speak of these things to acquaint you with something of the design I certainly do not do it in order that you might build some more mental structures in that regard. I do it to call something to the remembrance of your human consciousness, so that something may begin to emerge in your human consciousness which you know—certainly not because I said this or that but because by reason of what I said something was called to your remembrance, something emerged from your angelic identity into the experience of your human consciousness.

You may remember that the Spirit of Truth had the job and the authority of calling all things to remembrance. Whatever it is that is called to remembrance cannot then in fact be new. It is new perhaps to the experience of the human consciousness but it has always been present, it has always been a reality. If the statement is made by the One who sits upon the throne, “Behold, I make all things new,” He is indicating the passing of a state long experienced by human beings and therefore well known, and the coming of an experience that has not been known. It has not been known in human consciousness as long as human memory goes back; therefore it is new to human consciousness but not in fact new. It is the reality that has always been present.

So we accept the responsibility of abiding, dwelling, in the heaven. We look at all things from the heavenly standpoint. For those who have begun to lift up their eyes in a willingness to allow their lives to cease to be controlled by the realm of effects, so that there may be a sensing of identity with the true cause, the creative power of the seven spirits before the throne of God has begun to go to work, purifying the heart for one thing. The impurities of heart are present because of the control of the realm of effects insofar as human emotion is concerned.  The impure heart of human beings is the veil. As the heart begins to be purified, to the extent that there is identification with the realm of cause, it becomes possible to look out through the human consciousness at what is present in the realm of effects. You are doing whatever it is you are doing, and you need to do whatever it is you are doing; so looking forth at the windows you take into consideration the fact of an impurity of heart.Something has been called to remembrance: now it's here. Now it's here in the experience, the expression of the creative spirit of the living God in momentary living—Cause in action, Jehovah. And immediately something occurs in the realm of effects.

This is beginning to happen in the experience of increasing numbers and something is happening in the realm of effects because of it. There begins to be capability of observing what it is that is really happening; not what it is that people think is happening or that the papers report is happening, but what is really happening, and it has very little to do with the manipulations of human beings. As long as human beings can be kept busy with their manipulations they are likely to overlook what it is that is really happening, and so angels have a more or less free hand to move about in the heaven as needful, “from one end of the heaven to the other,” gathering the elect, gathering those who remember. And those who remember reach the point where they share the responsibility of angels on earth. Behold, all things then work together to perfection with increasing effectiveness and increasing rapidity. As angels we are concerned with these things not for ourselves but to give glory to God, and we use everything that comes to us in our momentary living as a means of giving glory to God, as a means of releasing the spirit of creative Cause into the realm of effects. The changes come thick and fast and any remaining blotches or cloudiness are cleared away. The creative spirit in expression purifies the heart, so that we may see with increasing accuracy what is present with us and, seeing and knowing what is present with us, we can handle it rightly as angels.

I thank God for all of you who are not only remembering but knowing what is so in the present moment. Together we are in agreement in heaven, and that agreement permits the power of God to be in action in a most specific sense. There is a state of balance on earth through which that power may work safely. And so we share this, no matter where we may be geographically speaking. In the earthly sense there are many angels in many places, but to the extent that they have remembered that they are angels they find themselves in one place together.

There is an inclination for human beings to imagine that one is doing something only when one is acting physically, as though there was no other level of doing. Physical action may be included, but the doing, if it is real doing, is always doing on the basis of the power of love. It is the power of love in expression that permits the doing that is required to open the seals, for instance. The human mind has no faintest idea what that means, and yet there is specific doing required if the seals are to be opened; therefore don't consult the mind if you want to know how it is going to be done; neither consult the heart. Do not consult any aspect of external being, because the power by which anything is done, even the things that shouldn't be done, is the power of love.

In human experience the power of love has not emerged on the basis of the spirit of the womb but rather on the basis of human desire or human determination of some kind. The power of love has not been known as it really is. There have been all kinds of things written about love. People talk about it and people imagine that they are experiencing it in various ways, but it is impossible to experience the reality of love except on the basis of the design by which it is known. If the design is not the true design, then what is experienced is not love. It may be called love, it may have some aspects of human experience which seem to be pleasing—or it may have a great deal of pain involved with it too—but the experience is not of love. It is a distorted experience, because love is only known by reason of the presence of the spirit of truth, the spirit of the womb, so that something may be conceived by love where it is possible to conceive it correctly, and then that can be born out of the womb as what we call life. But the quality and nature of life is unique at each level of being; therefore we described the spirit which is known, as there is true spiritual expression, by the words we used with respect to the four of the spirits before the throne of God. Here is the reality of love—not known by the words but known by the experience—the experience in living of love being born according to the particular nature of the level where it is being born. It fits at that level. What fits at one level doesn't fit at another level. The voltage varies from level to level, and if we get a high voltage in a low voltage area something is blown; there's a mess. So love fits at the level where it is in manifestation by reason of the truth of that level, and it is known because life is being experienced.

So we have the opportunity of sharing the increased expression of the power of love, and it will be found to be a very different thing from what it was imagined to be in human consciousness. This is one area that human consciousness tends to cling to desperately: what it imagines love to be. It prefers, apparently, what it imagines love to be to the truth of love. Our concern is that the truth of love should be known in living expression at every level of our experience.
