Generation in the Ascending Spiral
from Special Session at Sunrise Ranch

As we participate in the consistent expression of the spirit of the new
earth there are evident effects which put in an appearance. We may think of those
effects as relating to what is beyond us, but they also relate to what is
immediately present with us—our immediate living is of a
fitting nature from the standpoint of spiritual expression. We can't anymore
behave any old way; we are compelled into fitting behavior.
There are many things which
require thought and consideration which will be quite natural to one who is
expressing the spirit of the new earth. He
will always be looking beyond himself; and he will always be concerned about
the effect that his presence is having upon those round about. One should never
underestimate the effect of spiritual expression, so if there is whatever
measure of spiritual expression in evidence, and particularly now from the
standpoint of the spirit of the new earth, there will be an effect because of
that.
Effects emerge into the experience of the
angel on earth, effects of right cause centered in right spirit—in this
instance in the spirit of the new earth. There is always a brightness, a
newness; we never let anything get into a humdrum pattern. If it does, as we
have noted, we are subject to the spirit of decay; we are no longer providing
the expression of the spirit of the new earth. We are responsible for providing
that in a fitting way according to what is going on in our environment, but it
is always the control of the spirit that is being offered, the positive radiant
expression of the spirit of the new earth. We extend this deliberately. We
never let that meaningless repetition which appears in the spirit of decay
enter into the picture at all. There may be things we have to do repeatedly,
but we always do them in a new way; we always do them in the right spirit—it will be a new way; it brings
everything that is done alive. There is a vibrancy then to all that is
expressed in living.
I have mentioned these things in terms of
physical sex. I think you have an awareness, perhaps more vividly than before,
that physical sex, which is not something alone all on its own ever—there are
other levels involved here. But we are looking at the physical
level at the moment. Physical sex is a tool, a creative tool, in the hand of
the angel. That is all it is there for. Human beings have been using it for
other reasons of various sorts. It has always carried an aura of mysterious delight.
But it is a creative tool, just as every capacity of life expresssion is a
creative tool rightly in the hands of the angel.
When we begin to see this we see that we
have a responsibility in this field. That responsibility is not a matter of
age. It is a matter of right use. It requires an angel on hand for right use.
In the general scheme of things in the world I suppose youth is rather
characterized by the attitude of unbridled use and age tends to be
characterized by a state of nonuse. In the middle there, which is not
necessarily the state of the middle-aged, there is a state of an experience of
balance, right use—balanced right use.
Here is something that has tended to become
rather humdrum in many instances as the years go by, which is evidence that the
individual, at least in this field, is not permitting the expression of the
spirit of the new earth. It couldn't get that way if the spirit of the new
earth was actually in expression. In our considerations along these lines now,
I am concerned principally with attitude, because when the spirit of the new
earth is in expression the effects will appear and the physical form to clothe
that spirit will naturally emerge.
There are those who have felt very much
compelled in this field and tried to fill the form of it with spirit. "I
know this is a creative tool and must be used rightly by the Lord. I have this
compulsion in this field. I'll go ahead with this compulsion and then on the
basis of what happens I'll endeavor to get the spirit in there." Of course
it doesn't work very effectively that way because the spirit always has to come
first. It has seemed almost unbelievable apparently to the human mind that if
the spirit is right and actually in expression that the form will take care of
itself. There may be a need for some assistance relative to the emergent form—when there is an emergent form—because of the expression of spirit. But to try
to manipulate the form into shape first is a futile endeavor. Let the spirit be
right.
Now when the spirit is in right expression
in this particular field, for instance of physical intercourse, the experience
of the female orgasm is a natural experience, not an uncontrolled experience
but a natural one. It is not uncontrolled, in the sense that it relates to the sustaining
of control with respect to the male orgasm. There needs to be control in this
field if it is to be used as a creative tool. If those concerned get carried
away by their feelings then the whole thing is blown and it is of no value as a
creative tool in the hands of the Lord. It does have creative implications even
then, of course, but what is being created will not be of a constructive
nature. It will be the initiation of something destructive.
I don't say that in order to engender some
sort of a fear, although fear of the Lord may be wisely experienced in the
recognition that one is handling very potent powers, particularly in this
field—in other fields as well, in every aspect of our living in fact. But it is
particularly intense, in focus, in this field of physical sex. It must be
handled with great care and reverence, caution. Then it may become a tool for
the creative purposes of the archangel.
As angels we have responsibility in this
differentiated field of creative purpose, and we may become aware, on the basis
of the expression of right spirit, of what that responsibility is. And it may
consequently be handled wisely on the basis of right use, on the basis of
control, so that this, for instance, is a fitting time—something comes to
focus. And this, where two people are concerned, is a mutual
experience. It is not something being laid by one upon the other in either
direction. There may be a consciousness of something moving in one's own
spiritual awareness, and it may correlate with something moving with respect to
the other. And they may be brought rightly together so that something can
unfold, something can begin to take form on the basis of right spirit that is,
at that point, unknown. It is not a repetition of something that has been
experienced before; it is something entirely new. And it is relative to some
creative purpose.
Gradually there comes the ability to
discern the nature of that creative purpose so that it may be worked with in
consciousness. Working with it in consciousness is one aspect, insofar as the
male particularly concerned, by which control is maintained. He is not all
wrapped up in the physical aspects of what is occurring. Of course a woman
needs to learn to discern what it is that is moving, not necessarily on the
basis of trying to define it with her mind, but sensing what is moving, sensing
the rhythms of what is moving, so that she allows whatever intensity is fitting
to emerge by always bearing in mind the necessity for control—control in the
whole operation one might say.
Here is the creative field which can be
restored in such a way that it becomes possible once more to bring forth living
forms. In procreation that is obvious. But procreation, clearly, in the world
has gotten way out of hand. You may have noted in the stories of the patriarchs
of old, in the "begat" chapters of the Bible, that the begetting
didn't begin in most cases until whoever it was had reached the age of ninety.
Was everything in abeyance until then? Well back at that time there was some
remembrance, some awareness therefore, of something relative to the true state.
The very length of the lifespan was indication of this. And so there was some
continuing right use in this field. But procreation only appeared way down the
line. It wasn't the first order of business. We need to see that presently
it isn't the first order of business. We are concerned with the restoration, not with
repopulating the earth. It is well-populated, isn't it? The restoration of man
restores the authority and government of God so that there would be right
control from the standpoint of procreation. And this cancerous condition that
is obvious in the world would certainly not be the case.
It is a serious matter to provide a
facility by which a particular angel may be given opportunity of incarnating on
earth, not a haphazard thing as it has been for centuries in human experience.
It is something that is deliberately considered and deliberately prepared for. The
story of the birth of Jesus gives some indication of the fact that there was
deliberate preparation of some kind. Obviously from the heavenly standpoint
there was, but also in some measure from the earthly standpoint. Earthly
conditions are taken into account now, even though from the human standpoint
there may be a certain amount of haphazardness, so that certain angels may
incarnate on the basis of certain earthly heredity. All this is based in a
wider view than a personal one, certainly, of what is needful in the overall
creative purpose so that there may be fulfilment.
The incarnation of
angels occurs everywhere over the face of the earth—I'm not speaking of geographical areas particularly, although that may
come into the picture too, but areas of human consciousness. It is very
necessary that certain angels incarnate. There are certain areas within the scope of human
consciousness where it is necessary for angels to incarnate, certain particular
angels for certain particular purposes. When this happens there is a need to
take into account the hereditary background too because it is going to have an
effect, it is going to have an influence of some sort.
We begin to see that from our standpoint,
which is the standpoint of the awakening angel on earth, all these things are
very special and very important. And we are very careful therefore in the
manner in which we handle all our affairs, but in particular this field of
physical sex. Here is a creative tool for a special purpose. In a more general sense, when these things
are handled as they should be handled, there is the generation of spiritual
substance, the generation of a substance which then begins to ascend in the
creative spiral, so that it provides the essential substance for the experience
of the succeeding spirit. We have been considering the spirit of the new earth.
We come to the second level and we have the spirit of the single eye. A
conscious participation in the expression of the spirit of the single eye
requires that there be substance at that level, that it may have meaning to us.
You have taken note of the fact that where
there is no substance there is no meaning insofar as the person concerned.
You've talked to people and outlined something very clearly to them, clear in
your own consciousness, seeking to convey spiritual reality. And the individual
simply looks at you with a blank stare. Of course it was not wise for you to
attempt to make the explanation in the first place because you should have had
enough perception to recognize that the essential substance for understanding
wasn't present. The substance for understanding emerges on the basis of its
generation in the ascending spiral.
We in our present considerations have been
moving in a more or less deliberate step-by-step basis—which is not
necessarily exactly the way it works—but so that we may be first acquainted
with the process from the first spirit to the release of the second spirit, the
spirit of the single eye. To the extent that there has been a consistent
expression of the new earth, there will have been the generation of sufficient
spiritual substance to enable us to experience the expression of the spirit of
the single eye with understanding.
This particular spirit will bring with it
certain effects also. The absence of it is describable as the spirit of double-mindedness,
which is the condition known by human beings subject to human nature. A double-minded
view is the common outlook relative to duality, whether false or real. The
central duality has been described by using the words good and evil. That is a true duality. In other words, good and
evil are essential for the creative process. It is impossible to have one without
the other. The difficulties arise in human experience only when there is an
eating of the fruit of this creative process. The eating of the fruit of that
creative process is what brings a person into identity with the realm of
effects; he is constantly absorbing effects and his action is based upon that
absorption of effects.
If you eat the fruit of the tree of the
knowledge of good and evil, which is the tree of the creative process, it may
be said then that you are what you eat. Too bad if you are, isn't it? Well it's
true of most people; it is true of what they eat physically and it's true of
what they eat mentally. They are what they eat. We have all had that
experience. It lingers around a bit too, you know. If you eat of the effects of
the creative process you find yourself identified with the effects—you are
what you eat. By the same token, of course, if you eat of cause, which is fruit
of the tree of life, you are again what you eat. You are identified with cause.
This has been and is our continuing concern. However we can't reach the fruit
of the tree of life as long as we are partaking of the fruit of the tree of the
knowledge of good and evil.
I wish to emphasize the fact—which should
be clear in your consciousness anyway—that there is nothing wrong with the tree
of the knowledge of good and evil. Something wrong appears when human beings
start eating of the results which appear by reason of that tree. These are the
creative effects, and it is because human beings started eating of the creative
effects that what is called the fall occurred—and they began to die because,
identified with effects, effects are always changing, there is always
disintegration occurring, and death is known. One must stop eating of that
fruit, which initially seems to be quite impossible, if one is to become in
position to eat of the fruit of the tree of life, to participate in cause.
It is the fruit of the tree of life which
generates the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, which
generates the effects which are known on earth. We can see that these two
trees, each called by different names, are one. One is a heavenly tree, the other
is the earthly tree. Properly speaking they are one—cause and effect are
properly integrated. But in the realm of effects there is good and evil. This
may described in another way as integration and disintegration. It is not all
good; it is not all integration.
