Those who have turned away from my Ministry are greater in number than those who remained—and I loved them and served them as I love and serve you. Even though there is such sadness and sorrow at times in the pattern of Ministry, even though we see human beings go down needlessly and suffer needlessly, and throw away the richest and greatest blessings in life, we have to remain steady, unmoved, no matter who it is, no matter how much such a person is loved, no matter what great potentiality rests in that person. By reason of such things, I have seen things that I have built in Ministry torn down and destroyed until I had to begin again out of the ashes, out of the ruins. Several times in my Ministry that has already taken place. I trust it will never be again. But it is not a pleasant thing, and to hold steady when it appears that there is no hope, there is no possible way, is the important thing, because if you do hold steady it will open one way or another; and I would this morning that you deeply realize this point, and if sometime in the future, you, yourself, come under pressure or you are ministering with someone who is under pressure, remember, be patient and hold steady, hold steady and let it work, because merely because someone else violates, betrays, and undertakes to destroy, we cannot betray God's trust in us.


If the world can help it, no leader shall arise to serve the children of God. That has been true down through the centuries, and every leader who has come through to the point of actually doing something in the world has had to face this fact—that the consciousness of the world, the prince of this world, or the patterns of the world, so function, and they have the backing of millions and millions of Christians, millions and millions of good, sincere people—if the world can help it, no leader shall arise and become known on earth to the children of God. Pharaoh always does his best, no matter what ruthless action he thinks he has to take in desperation, he does his best to see to it that there shall be no leader for the children of God on earth. The children of God have been without a leader, any true shepherd, so much in the past, down through these thousands of years, because of this very fact. And when our Master Himself was on earth and began to reveal the reality of that leadership, they crucified Him—the same old determination of Pharaoh and Herod, there shall be no leader for the children of God.


Leaders for the opposition, yes. Leaders of all kinds for Pharaoh and Herod, the children of this world. Set out to be a leader for the children of this world and the way will be opened before you for wealth and fame and position. But set out to be a leader in the cause of our God and if you do not stay centered, do not hold faithful and true to the Truth, you will never reach the point of leadership, not if the world can help it. And we are here to save the world, a world of human beings who will do everything in their power to prevent the manifestation of leadership which would make their own salvation possible. It is the sad fact.


We have been up against this for twenty thousand years. I have been on earth in many bodies, in many forms, in many places, and worked through many things in order to help clear this pattern. I think most of you realize that the body of Joseph was one of my bodies. The body of Moses was one of my bodies—the story of Joseph is my story—the story of Moses is my story—just to mention two of them. Over and over again, down through the thousands of years. There are circumstances working out in the vibrational pattern of the universe itself which will bring things to a crisis and force issues, and man is going to have to accept the responsibility. But in this issue that is being drawn now, there is need for those who will share the responsibilities of true, unwavering, dedicated, devoted leadership.


Over and over again, already in my Ministry on earth in this body, the world has sought to destroy any possibility of my coming to a point of leadership. And if you undertake to share the responsibilities of Ministry with me, the responsibilities of leadership, you will find that the world tends to do the same thing to you. And so, the real value of our studies here in the story of Joseph, and now beginning the story of Moses, is that you may be so oriented, have such a deep realization of the workings, the Power and the Spirit of God on earth, that you may function effectively, that you may be forewarned, forearmed, that you will see the mistakes that were made in the past and avoid them, so that you may of a Truth be a disciple of our Lord and King and serve Him, and be not a partaker of the spirit of Judas who betrayed, and the spirit of Peter who denied our Lord.



When the Lord begins to work out the pattern to raise up a leader for the children of God on earth, He always finds a way for those who will be obedient to the Spirit of God, and yield and trust. Perhaps sometime when you are under pressure in your Ministry or service, you will remember that. The Lord has His ways of doing things if we just give Him a chance, if we just hold steady. Most people, when it begins to look black, difficult, begin to look for a place to turn around. It is the ability to hold steady when it does look black, the ability to face issues when it looks as if there is no way out. So many people, when they begin to get under pressure, when they cannot see with human vision just how and where, they are ready to turn around. And so often if they would just hold steady a little more. Generally speaking, for those who have any real quality at all, they had come so close to victory, it was right at the door. Just a little more and they would be over the top. But I have seen human beings, time after time—sometimes if they had held steady just a few more minutes even—I have actually seen that; situations where if the human being had held steady for another thirty minutes there would have been obvious victory. Over and over again, when it was merely a matter of hours or days, I have seen them turn and run, get frightened and quit. It is a matter of holding steady, remaining true. Remember, if we do that the Lord will find a way.


One of the things that we need to begin to truly realize is that wherever we turn in the Lord's Service there are going to be barriers for some little time to come. There is no way of saying how long, but there are going to be barriers, walls, difficulties, at best. And when it appears that there is a wall in front of you—perhaps you can begin to see it coming up—as you are drawing closer to it, learn to keep right on going. Learn to walk right up to the wall? No. If you walked up to the wall, how close would you get to the wall? A hundred yards, or ten yards, or six feet? You walk up close to the wall and stop a wait for the wall to vanish? It does not work that way. You learn to walk not up to the wallsyou learn to walk right through them, and if you think you cannot, you are wrong. You do not just stop when there is a wall over there; the wall of circumstance and vibrational factors. Of course, there are those elements of discretion and understanding with respect to maneuvering which are essential, but as far as the walls are concerned, you do not just stop and camp by the wall; you keep right on going and you find that when you get right up to it, pressing against it, it opens, or you find suddenly that it just looked like there was a wall. Anyone round about would have sworn there was a wall, and when you get up there close enough it begins to move back.


Did you ever chase the rainbow; try to catch up with it? It keeps getting away just as fast as you try to get to it. That is the rainbow, the rainbow of promise. But the principle is the same. The barriers give way and if we are working centered in God, properly responsive to the Divine and hold steady, the barriers give way. That is one of the lessons to be learned in the story of the happening after the Children of Israel began to move into the Promised Land.


You will remember there was a certain city where the wall fell down? Jericho. Whenever there are Jericho walls, they will fall if you function correctly. But remember that if you quit merely because you think you see a wall in front of you, and you think, “Well I can't get over it. I know I can't climb over it. I cannot do anything. I will just have to quit and camp right here or else go back.” Do not be deluded. Keep right on going and the wall will open or prove to just be a mirage. Perhaps it is not even there. It just looks like it. Hold it steady and keep going. It is the only way to victory. If walls can stop you, you will be stopped. If human beings can upset you, you will be upset. If discouragement can turn you aside, you will be turned aside. That is the situation. If walls can stop you, you will be stopped. It is only for those who refuse to be stopped by any wall and keep right on going that there can be a true sharing in the Victory.



Water is the symbol of Truth. And always, when you begin to find the pattern of the Spirit of God's leadership in relationship to yourself, in yourself, through yourself, that which is the Divine expression, it is drawn out of the water, out of the Truth. The emphasis—be true to the Truth. And so shall ye come to know the Victory.

"True worship of God is the central link in the chain of connection

between Creator and His creation here on earth."


Over three thousand years ago these words were spoken by Moses: “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart.”


“Hear, O Israel.” Those who have ears, let them hear: Worship God. What a very simple, straightforward commandment—the commandment of life. Human ears have been open to other commandments, which have proven to be the commandments of death. Regardless of how good some of them may have seemed to be to those who heard, every one of the commandments, other than the commandment to worship God, leads to death. However it isn’t a commandment to worship God according to the doctrines of men. There should be nothing intervening here—just Worship God. Obviously in the world today this commandment is scarcely heard, let alone obeyed, and yet it is the only way by which salvation may come. Using the word salvation, we see this as relating to human experience on earth. Every other conceivable suggestion is made by which man is supposed to experience salvation. Some believe in this, some believe in that; there are many advocates of this and many advocates of that but there is only one answer—Worship God. Actually do it. Don’t imagine that you are doing it by conforming to the doctrines of men.


There is much that might be called black magic in the human world. Perhaps foremost in this field is what is called religion. Religion says: Worship God my way; conform to my doctrines and you will be worshiping God. Masses of human beings have been led down the garden path on this basis, partly at least because they really wanted to be led down the garden path. Very few in the general sense have really wanted to know the truth. “Don’t tell me the truth; just tell me how I may get by.” And so religion has provided many doctrines in this regard and human beings have followed them blindly along the path which leads to death.


In order to reach the point where God is being truly worshiped there is the need for symbols. Religion has provided these symbols; they have also been provided in many other areas of human experience. But the use of symbols, which incidentally words are, has almost invariably shut the door on any further movement toward the truth, because the symbol has been taken as though it were the truth. But there is the need for symbols. However in utilizing symbols whatever is seen for the moment on this basis needs to remain open-ended. There needs to be a consciousness of the fact that this, whatever it is, is not the last word. The use of one set of symbols rightly leads to an understanding of another set of symbols, which leads to an understanding of another, and another, and another. As there is true progress in this regard each successive set of symbols is recognized as being less substantial. They are in the process of becoming so transparent that the truth itself may be known.


Our concern is to allow whatever is seen now, from the standpoint of the symbols which are acceptable now, to open the door to a symbolical understanding of something else. We will use symbols to begin to make this larger understanding comprehensible to us but we will not marry the symbols. We see that symbols are useful, necessary—they will always be so but perhaps in a little different way. Now their only purpose is to open the door to an understanding and the actual experience of the truth. I am sure you are all quite aware, to the extent that you have been moving under the influence of the spirit, of the fact that what you thought you knew last year—certainly ten years ago—was quite different from what you know now; but by the same token what you know now is just temporary. Don’t glom on to it as though it was going to be valid in the days to come.


Human beings in their human state are very insecure. They want something that is going to be dependable and so they try to construct these forms of symbols in such a way that they are going to last, because it is imagined that security is based in form. Get a really solid form, something that won’t move, and you may feel secure. There is no form that could be produced which would allow for permanent security. Security is not in the form. We may wisely say, “Security is in the spirit.” But do you know what that means? Really? To some extent no doubt, but I suspect there are moments when you don’t feel all that secure.


You may say, “Is this ministry really secure? Might it not collapse? What would happen if Martin wasn’t there anymore?” Various thoughts cross the mind no doubt; and the individual may say, “Well I don’t feel secure anymore; I do not wish to be associated with this which I see as moving toward a state of collapse.” Here of course is continuing evidence of the fact that the individual is placing his security in the form. The form that is now in existence is going to pass away. I don’t care what the form is, it is going to pass away, and you will feel very insecure if you are depending upon this form. It will pass away because it is right for it to pass away. It passes away in order to allow for the emergence of something else, and then that something else will pass away. This is constantly occurring within the scope of our experience. Why buck it? Why object to it? Why pin our hopes on a form that is going to pass away? We know that that is futile, in theory.


If there is observance of something which doesn’t seem to be on Tone, as we might think of it, in the behavior of somebody else, then what effect is that going to have on us? Are we dependent upon the form which we are judging, or are we dependent in our immediate expression upon the spirit, so that regardless of what anyone else may do, regardless of what anyone else may say, we provide what we know to be right and on Tone. There is the place where we are secure, because the Tone is sounding throughout the whole universe. It has never ceased to sound. It is the one constant, and if we are associated with that constant then obviously we have a sense of security. But if we are associating ourselves in identity with what is changing, with the symbols that are passing away, and we are hopeful for the symbols that are coming as being adequate to make us secure we will constantly be on edge because we are placing our dependence upon something that is not dependable. There is nothing wrong with the fact that it is not dependable—it’s all right; it’s part of the creative action; it’s a part of what is happening. But we do not depend upon what is happening; we depend upon what is making it happen. Our centering is in Cause—but we need to see this in a practical sense, so that we are not constantly building up our hopes with respect to forms.





But let us look for a moment at this matter of the way we describe what it is with which we are associated, perhaps calling it “this ministry”. As long as you call it that in your own consciousness it is separate from you and you are taking the attitude that you are in position to judge the ministry. It is not the fact of the matter if what is described by the words the Ministry is the truth. It may be that those who are associated with this ministry are not total revelations of the truth. One might say, “Well that is to be expected at the moment.” If it is, why judge it? Individually our sole concern is to reveal that truth, even though for the moment we may be aware that we are not yet in position to do it totally. Well if one is not in position to do it totally oneself we may presume that the same applies to somebody else. As long as we see this ministry as something with which we may or may not be associated we do not know what it is. Only when it reaches the point where we say within ourselves, “This is my ministry, my ministry of living now, moment by moment,” does it begin to be real in our experience.


I have described this ministry as the body of the Archangel. Here is a symbol, which I have offered. I know it is going to change, because if you cling on to that concept you are stuck. There is the necessity of experiencing the reality, whatever it is, and doubtless we will move through plenty of symbols before that reality is experienced.


When Jesus was establishing the Communion Service, He took the bread in His hands and blessed it, and everybody has been watching the bread, the form. He said, “This is my body.” Obviously it is a symbol, isn’t it? He was not speaking about what He had in His hands, although that provided a symbol. This is my body. He was speaking of all those who, identified with the truth, revealed the wholeness, the body, the living form in expression, which He accepted as His body: “This is my body.” He was looking out at the disciples and beyond them to everybody, accepting the responsibility Himself, knowing very well that there was scarcely anyone on the face of the earth who did likewise. Is it just as true today as it was then, where we are inclined to think within ourselves of “the body”? No—My Body! If we are associated with the truth it is My Body, not “the body,” not “the body of God,” or “the body of the Archangel,” because that concept in human minds takes it away from oneself. “Well it is the Archangel’s body; I may be associated with it, I may not.” If it is your body you cannot help but be associated with it.


If Jesus said, “This is my body,” and He said, “The works that I do shall ye do also. Follow me. Be ye therefore perfect,” then logically it is the responsibility of each one to accept identity as He did and to say: This is my body. This is my ministry. Until we do that we are always shoveling it off onto somebody else and we are looking around at the form of things, judging the form of things, and saying, “This is not what I expected.” Well what did you expect? The manifestation of the truth? Do you know what that is? How are you going to find out? By looking at someone else? By looking at the form of things? No, by expressing the truth yourself.


The truth is that “the Lord our God is one Lord”—not four billion on the face of the earth, just one. If we accept the truth that the Lord our God is one Lord then we cannot help but say within ourselves: “All this is mine, my body. I alone am responsible for sounding the Tone, regardless of what anyone else does. And I am not responsible for judging what other people do. I will be fully occupied with sounding the Tone. I will be a little cautious about imagining that I really understand what it is with other people but I know very well what it is I am responsible for: to sound the Tone.” Once a person comes to the point of saying within himself, “This is my body, the whole reality, this is all mine,” so that his expression is on this basis, then that individual is speaking in the name of the Lord. How could we speak in the name of the Lord without having that state within ourselves? What does it mean to be “in His name”? To have exactly the same attitude as we have recognized was the attitude of the Lord when He was incarnate on earth—that is one aspect of it at least—and Jesus always took responsibility for Himself. “This is my body. I am the son of God. I am the one.” The Lord our God is one Lord. There is a human identity being maintained, and human beings speak in the name of that identity, the human nature identity of mankind. We are always speaking in that name, and that one who has that name has been called the accuser, amongst other things—the accuser, the liar, the devil. Human beings speak, and act, and exist, in the name of the devil, dying in consequence. But somewhere along the way, surely, it is necessary to reach the point where we are no longer subject to symbols but acknowledge the truth.


“And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.” The identity which had been assumed is relinquished. That is the way it is cast down. The accuser is very close, isn’t he? You know damn well he is very close. Well let him be cast down! You cannot do it for anybody else, only for yourself, because your identity in the human sense has been in the accuser. That is why he has continued to exist insofar as you are concerned. Nobody else can make him continue to exist insofar as you are concerned. Only you can do that. “And they overcame him”—this is an indication of rising up to a different level of identity—“they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”


We love our lives unto the death when we are identified with the accuser, because that brings the experience of death. As long as we exist in that state we are in the process of passing away. While human beings are alive they indulge in this practice but when they are dead they cannot do it anymore: the accuser passed away. It is rather a sad thing if at that point all that can be said is, “The accuser passed away, praise the Lord.” Why not let the accuser pass away before?


“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb.” It was a symbol of something! We may have a clear understanding of these things of course. We know what blood symbolizes. We know what the Lamb symbolizes. Do we? We have a theory! Blood, the symbol of life; the Lamb relates to spiritual expression. All right, by reason of the life of spiritual expression the accuser is cast down; of course, because spiritual expression does not include accusation. Oh these are nice words explaining something, but how much do we know what it really is? We only know what it really is when there is the life of spiritual expression in our own experience, and there certainly isn’t that life in our experience as long as accusation remains. “And by the word of their testimony.” Here is the sounding of the Tone: the Word which is the Word of the one Lord, known in expression by reason of our own living, the sounding of the Tone.


“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord.” If we hear, then we may understand and we may assume the position of leadership in what has been referred to symbolically as the Third Sacred School. Each one who accepts this Commission knows within him- or herself that “This is my body. This is my ministry. If my ministry is made manifest on earth nowhere else but by reason of my own expression, well that does not deny the fact of my ministry.” But we know very well that it is emerging through many. Let us relinquish the symbols which set it apart from ourselves, maintaining it in the human nature state. It is unreal in that state. As long as inside ourselves we are thinking of it as the ministry, the body of the Archangel, the body of the Son of God, or whatever, it is over there and we have not accepted the responsibility of being in His name. This is my body. This is my ministry.





There have been those who have said to me, “Your ministry—I will support you in your ministry.” No you won’t! That’s a lie! We are in agreement when you say, “This is my ministry,” and you do not merely say, “This is Martin’s ministry,” or somebody else’s ministry. That is ducking out. That is being dishonest. You have no part in it in actual fact until you reach the point of saying, “This is my ministry,” and even if I should deny the whole thing and say, “To hell with it!” it is still your ministry. Do you understand that? It has no validity until it is. You are just a bunch of, what? children following the Pied Piper! It must be your ministry, just as it is my ministry. I don’t propose to deny it, but don’t trade on that fact! Let it be true of you. Then there begins to be the evidence of manhood and womanhood on earth, the revelation of man once more, to the glory of God. Hear, O Israel, the Lord thy God is one Lord.

Is there sufficient stillness that we are able to hear?—stillness of heart, stillness of mind. This does not imply that the heart is open to receive all and sundry currents of feeling that may be moving around—it has been too much open in that regard—but sufficiently still that there may be a touching, a sensing, of the spirit of truth. It is flowing, it is moving, unceasingly. There may be various intensities of movement, pulsations, but never a cessation. The river of life, ever flowing—and these human capacities are here present, particularly of heart and mind, available to accommodate that flow of the river of life. The yielded and still mind and heart are present because we are also present in the flesh.


This flow of the river of life moves through this Body, through the mind and the heart of this Body. It does it individually speaking, and collectively in this Body. The veil, which has prohibited the movement of this spirit in the minds and the hearts of human beings for so long, dissolves. We have the experience of it dissolving, both as individuals and collectively. No individual heart and mind could say, “I am doing the dissolving.” What might be said is that I am willing to allow this dissolving to occur. It occurs because of the flow of the river of life, because of the creative movement of the spirit of truth. We find that that movement cannot be separated from the creative movement of the power of love. Here is an immense power.


The universe is operative. The human mind certainly hasn’t really understood this. It tries to pick the universe apart in the same way that it picks a frog apart in the lab. If that is done successfully, of course, there is no frog. Likewise, insofar as human beings are concerned there is no universe; it’s just a fanciful imagination. But there is a real universe. We call it a universe, but what does that mean? Do we need to know? Or do we have enough responsibility right here where we are? Perchance if we take care of this we may know something of that.


But there is the power of love, part of the flow of the river of life, combined with the spirit of truth. Here is immense power. It has been foolish for mankind to contend with it. They have been doing this for a long time, in human terms. That we are still here is indicative of the merciful nature of love. It was said of the Master that He endured the contradiction of sinners—that is, of human nature. Whenever there has been a focus of spirit brought to point on earth, there always was this factor of contradiction, the arrogance of the human mind which rejects, and always has, the spirit of truth. But, being aware somewhat of the immensity of power that is involved here, finally a point is reached where the contradiction is enough—no more!


We are blessed with the opportunity of accommodating this creative power. The way we accommodate it is to receive the holy spirit, the spirit of truth, into expression in our own living. Again very mercifully, the extent of this power has been modified, because if it was really released through this representation of the Body of the King I think there would be ashes sitting in the seats. We may become aware that this is not really funny, but a fact. Even the little power that is moving now through this Body is having immense repercussions. We ourselves are perhaps largely unaware of what those repercussions are. I don’t say that we may not observe certain repercussions, but we do not know particularly how these relate to the release of this power which is our responsibility. That is fortunate. We might, on the one hand, become somewhat arrogant if we knew; on the other hand we might be even more scared than we are. So there is a veil still over our consciousness for a reason.





But the power is moving. We might say truly that it is an irresistible force. There are two aspects to this irresistibility. One relates to positive radiation which brings attraction where there is resonant substance. The other is positive radiation which produces repulsion where there is substance held in the structured patterns of human nature. This was described as casting out what is kept in such structures into outer darkness, where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. This is the Law at work, isn’t it? The Law has always been at work but, mercifully, it has been modified insofar as human experience is concerned, because of love.


We realize that all this comes to issue because we find it is being brought to issue in our own experience. What happens as it is brought to issue in our own experience will determine what happens in the world. That’s a statement that can be made but, insofar as human logic is concerned, cannot be proven. It doesn’t need to be proven in advance. It certainly will be proven in fact. And we can wait around for it to be proven, but that would hardly be very profitable. On the other hand we have sufficient understanding at this point to provide the facility for the release in radiation of this irresistible force which is the power of love. This may be safely done to the extent that we receive and express the spirit of truth.


There is much substance which will resonate as there are those present on earth who are willing to let it come out of the structures of their own consciousness. This is what has been provided for us, isn’t it?—the understanding and the assistance, that we might allow the substance, this spiritual substance of our own being, to be released from the structures in which it has been held so firmly in times past.


There hasn’t always been great enthusiasm about this, because some of those structures seem to be good. But when we reach a point of trusting the spirit of truth and the creative process, there is nothing to be defended, there is nothing to prevent from happening. The control and the design is present by reason of the spirit of truth, and as that occupies our hearts and minds, because there is resonant substance there, then any remaining vestiges of the veil may be easily dissolved. The veil is describable as the remaining structures which hold spiritual substance from resonating. I am sure we have all had experience of digging in our heels on occasion. Fear of course is a strong motivation in human beings. But at last we come to what may be trusted, so that there may be the release of the radiation of the spirit of truth, unhindered and unfettered by such restrictions as we may heretofore have placed upon it.


Here is the power which is producing effects, in human beings and beyond, that might from the human standpoint be said to be immeasurable. Let’s not try to measure them then. Let’s let them be, but in an awareness that it is our responsibility to maintain the clear space through which this creative radiation may be released, and to do it consistently. This both provides a point of orientation for any resonant substance that may be around, so that it may be drawn quickly, and it also repels, not so much the substance that is held in structures so that it cannot resonate but it repels the structures, it disintegrates the structures.


An interesting portrayal of this comes in something like an earthquake. There is quite a bit of rubble around Los Angeles these days, shaken out of structures. This is seemingly rather inert substance that cannot quickly be absorbed into the creative process. We ourselves are concerned with a different type of substance, contained in human beings and in their institutions. It takes something of an earthquake to break that loose. Probably as individuals we discovered that it needed something of an earthquake to allow our personal vibrational substance to become sufficiently free that it might resonate easily and carry us in the direction, at least, of where we belong. In varying degrees we have all had this experience.


Let’s not humanly take credit for it. It simply happened because there was this power of love, this immense power—and yet a very gentle power in many ways—which draws resonant substance to itself. If, as happens, there is sufficient resonant substance in a person, as I said before, the person comes along, maybe a little unwillingly, maybe with a little fear. It is the substance coming home and bringing human beings with it. We have all had this experience. We may finally admit that it wasn’t because of our good sense, it wasn’t because of anything that we happened to do as human beings but largely in spite of what we did as human beings, that we ourselves have been brought home, simply because this spiritual substance was present sufficiently in us to come home, and so we came along with it.


This should engender a little humility, which is a most necessary ingredient if our hearts and our minds are to be used for the purpose for which they, were created: to accommodate such conscious thinking as is necessary on behalf of the spirit of truth. The spirit of truth is not dependent solely on conscious thinking, but there is something to be done consciously in this way which relates to the creative process. But at the same time the spirit of truth, which identifies what I am for each one, brings to bear the power of love and, insofar as any remaining resistances that may be present in our makeup, will consume them. That happens more or less automatically. It may be an easy experience if in the human sense we don’t object, or it may be a painful one if we do.





So this power is emerging through this Body. It takes individuals to compose the Body; it takes their individual minds and hearts. But it is the power through the Body, this flow of the river of life, that releases the irresistible force into the consciousness of mankind, which is still very structured. However, I am sure that we can observe these structures crumbling. I am not thinking of what has been referred to as the crunch. I am thinking of the structures that are dissolving, so that the substance is freed up. It comes home, and the individual comes along with it. We can observe this occurring.


We need to see, somewhat, why it is happening and what our responsiblity is with respect to it. We are here to receive what is returning to our King. We receive it in His name; and that name, we know, is I am. So it is a very personal receiving. It isn’t a receiving as though the King was over there somewhere, and on His behalf we’re going to have this and we’ll hand it over sometime. How do we do that? No, we receive it in His name. It comes home to us. We are trusted with it, and we need to remember that. We are trusted with all this that is drawn by the irresistible force back to the King. We receive it in His name.


This is an irresistible power, drawing resonant substance and dissolving structures which are holding substance, which would be resonant if it was free, from coming home. This has a lot of implications, I am sure you can recognize. There is no need to speculate as to what it is that is going to happen. That engenders concepts of doom. We are thinking of substance coming home. That’s hardly doom. Because of this power, substance is freed up because the structures begin to dissolve. In individual human beings, their human-nature structures begin to dissolve, and the institutions of human beings dissolve also. How that will happen, when it will happen, what it involves, we are delighted to find out, probably a little later.


We need to let the power work now, to move easily, because we hold steady and participate in the expression of the spirit of truth in our own personal lives. When we do that we see how it is working through the Body. It is no longer a mystery. And it is working. Even with this little crack through which it may flow—I don’t mean to insult this Body as being merely a little crack, but that’s really all it is, isn’t it, if we consider the world body—even the power that can flow through this little crack is proving to be immense. The power that can take care of the universal operation is certainly quite competent to take care of this little blemish in the universal operation quite easily. It doesn’t require the whole of the power of the universe, only a small fraction, to get the job done.


We need to accept, acknowledge, the responsibility that is ours, to provide the means by which this minimal release of power may occur, even though the minimal release of power on earth may seem, from the human standpoint, to be immense. It’s all a matter of relativity, isn’t it? I rejoice that we have a continuing open way in which we may move together. For a while I will be somewhere other than Sunrise Ranch. But then, I’ll be somewhere else, and that is acceptable, I think, to wherever else that might be. We move easily, because we really don’t go anywhere. We stay where we belong, releasing the radiant power and blessing of the King in our momentary living.





Roger de Winton — Martin, this is a magical moment with you. Surely in this hour consciousness is cleared; the actuality of service is, you might say, revealed to me, to us. But I think, above all, the wonderful gentleness of love has been conveyed so unmistakably, so that whatever is undertaken when you aren’t actually with us here may continue in that way, so that in patience and understanding and gentleness, whatever I have to do or anyone has to do here may be carried forward and the greatness of what we are really about may be allowed to come down into consciousness and be conveyed. Thank you very much.

Rumours reached me that some of you didn’t recognize what I was doing [in Class] yesterday, but I thought that was a good opportunity to give you some of the basic Principles of Meditation. The only thing you have to meditate upon, after you reach a point of Oneness, is the vibratory factors you’re dealing with—not the things of Reality, not the things of God, not the things that are Real, not the things of Truth. But, you do have to meditate upon the vibrational factors in relationship to the processes of bringing them to point, dealing with them in various ways. So, once we reach a point of actually working from within outward, so that we are not seeking to work from the outside inward, our meditations are upon the factors with which we deal. There is no necessity of meditating, as such, upon the Truths of Being.


In this connection we have opportunity to emphasize a very important point, and that is, that the less you try to work from the outside in, as if you were trying to get in, the better off you will be. The human tendency is to try to get within, or work toward the inside—but you see, that isn’t God’s Way. God’s Way is working from the inside out, and as long as you are trying to work from the outside in you are running contrary to Divine action, doing something that is not in harmony or alignment with what God is doing. God is working from the inside out. We speak of the Father Within, and the necessity of functioning on the basis of that which is of the Lord Within, but trying to get in to find it is one of the most futile endeavours in which human beings can engage—trying to meditate on a basis of getting in to the Lord, the Lord Within, is utterly futile. It doesn’t work that way.


Your problem is to begin to come into alignment with that which is of God. When your mind begins to be aware of the Truth, and you have an opportunity to definitely recognize that it is the Truth, on the basis of right response you have a confirmation from within yourself. If your mind is not filled in some prejudice or fixation pattern, or if you are not controlled by some escape mechanism, you have a confirmation from within when you hear the Truth, and then you know the Truth. Then you begin to function on the basis of the Truth—no matter what feelings or beliefs or concepts or ideas there may be, no matter what may tend to come up from the subconscious realm, you remain true to the Truth. And it is only as you are honest enough to remain true to the Truth, without regard to control through feeling, that you can begin to experience the individual fulfillment which is in harmony with the Divine Pattern for you.


What then do we do? Divine action is already a reality. Once you begin to recognize that Truth and accept it, many of the pitfalls and difficulties are immediately removed. The human being imagines that God is withholding his action, he has to be begged into action, or that he has to be mollified in some way to make him even consider acting—but that is not the case. God is already in action with respect to all things whatsoever. There is no problem but what God is already acting with respect to the solution of that problem. There is no need but what God is already acting with respect to the process of filling that need. There is no necessity for an expansion of consciousness and understanding but what God is already acting with respect to providing the means for that expansion of consciousness, that increase of vision. Once you begin to actually accept the Truth that God is already in action with respect to all things needful, within the scope of your awareness and beyond the scope of your awareness, you begin to be in position to work with God and to learn to let God work through you.


Once you actually realize that God’s pattern of action with respect to the needs that are present in the world—all of them, without any exception—is not in any sense confined to the scope of your awareness but is on the basis of all needs for all people at all times, you can then begin to recognize why the self-active rearrangement of the Divine Pattern of action within the scope of your consciousness nullifies you, because the Divine Pattern of action has taken into consideration all needs—not just those of you here, but the needs of every human being on the face of the earth; the needs of nature, every need, without any exception, that rests within the picture of the process of restoring the whole earth to the Edenic State. So, if God is in action already with respect to all of these things, our problem is to learn to share God’s action with respect to those things that come within the scope of our responsibilities and capacities.


God does not ask of you anything that is actually beyond your capacity, although you may think He does. Most human beings have a very limited concept with respect to their own capacities insofar as Reality is concerned. They may think they have a great capacity for doing wrong, or functioning in some self-active manner, but generally speaking human beings have a very limited concept of their own capacity for doing the right thing, for sharing Divine action. So, while God’s requirements of you may seem to be far beyond your capacity to fulfill, they actually are not; and if we did not maintain a pressure causing you to exert yourself beyond your immediate consciousness of capacity you would never grow—if there was no pressure, nothing to urge or inspire you to go beyond the limit of what you think is the best that you can do. That’s why I never accept your best as good enough—never. Its fine, I thank God for it, but I never accept the best that you have made manifest as good enough, because I know that you have a great deal more capacity than you have yet discovered in relationship to yourself. And when you start excusing yourself for having less capacity, or less function within the range of capacity than you know you ought to have, then you are in trouble, because the best that you are aware of isn’t good enough—ever. I’ll accept it for the moment, but that’s all.


Only under a certain amount of pressure can you grow. All growing works out under a certain amount of pressure, but you reach a point where the pressures of Reality never produce discomfort—in fact, they produce joy and pleasure and satisfaction far beyond the power of my words to describe. But you must be under pressure to truly grow, and once you begin to let the pressures be designed by God they are all pleasant, comforting, beautiful—Divine. If pressures make you uncomfortable it’s because something is there which God did not design, He did not establish. You are responding to some unreal thing; you are under the necessity of dealing with some unreal thing.


Now, I am under the necessity of working under uncomfortable pressures very often. Why? Because human beings within the scope of my responsibility begin to function on an adverse basis—they let some unreal pattern into the picture; they have some wrong type of reaction. Well, I’ve accepted that individual, which includes all of you, into the pattern of my own personal hedge, to take care of you, to protect you, as much as you will let me. Those who go out from that, of course, they’re no longer my responsibility. I pay no attention to them. But those who still remain in it, they are my responsibility, and those who are moving toward it, they are my responsibility—and I do everything I can to inspire and protect and encourage, strengthen, so that each may move as rapidly as he or she will along the way. All of those who have been so accepted are within my own personal vibratory pattern, or hedge of Radiance—whatever you want to call it—the expanded expression of the pneumaplasmic sphere; and anyone within that sphere has been accepted as a part of myself, to whatever degree of response there is.





Whoever it is, that person has been accepted, as far as I am concerned, as a part of myself, and that means that I have accepted at least a share of responsibility with respect to what that individual does, and if that individual has a false reaction, does something wrong, I either have to share the pressure, the suffering if you please, or segregate that person from my body. I have no other choice. And I don’t segregate people from my body. I wait and let them do it—if they go out from it, that’s their business. But I never remove anybody from it. I let them remove themselves. If they must act as refuse, well then, so be it. But, while any human being is within the scope of that hedge, he or she is a part of me. I have accepted it so, whether the individual involved realizes it or not, and the pressures that develop are within the scope of my own Being, not my personal responsibility, in the sense of me as an individual, but my personal responsibility in the sense of me as a Body of many members—My Body of Many Members—because you could not have any process of growth or development, or progress, or blessing here, except in that position.


You’re not a segregated individual once you begin to respond and move into the pattern here. You are a part of My Body—and, as such, that which works through you influences my whole body and I feel it. I must of necessity work with it. And those pressures are sometimes very uncomfortable. Sometimes I can protect the individual involved from the results of his own actions and sometimes I cannot. But that moves into the realm of intercession. You cannot actually perform intercessory work for anyone who has not accepted, in part at least, the responsibility and privilege of being a part of what you are—within the scope of the Body. Now, the Body extends over all the earth, in actual fact. The Body is not fully formed over all the earth, but the vibratory cords of its initial beginnings extend over all the earth at the present time. When you begin to actually realize that this is the case, and that you cannot do anything wrong without hurting others, and without making it difficult for me, without throwing an extra load, an extra unnecessary burden upon others, you begin to realize that that type of function is dis-service—it is not serving God; it is not serving man; it is not serving yourself; it is not doing anything that is worthwhile. It is serving the devil.


So, what is the Divine Pattern of action in which you may share? God is in action with respect to all things whatsoever, with respect to every need, in you or in anyone else—whether there is response or not—and at the point of proper response you can connect up with the pattern of Divine action, but it must be within the scope of the Divine Design before the effectiveness of that contact can begin to truly manifest. You have to begin to yield to that Divine Pattern. So, instead of trying to move from the outside in, like a worm—that’s why human beings feel like worms; they are trying to go in the wrong direction—they begin to let that which is of God come out through them. They begin to deliberately, consciously, come into alignment with that which God is doing.


What is your God Being doing? I have pointed out that your God Being is responding to the LORD of Lords, and that is true. But on what basis does your God Being respond to the LORD of Lords? Within the scope of the Pattern of the Divine Design. I came into the world with a specific purpose. Every God Being of every man, woman and child on the face of the earth is responding to Me—without any exception anywhere—every God Being of every man, woman and child, high or low, white or black, it makes no difference. I came into the world to fulfil a Mission in relationship to this process of outworking, and without one single exception, every God Being on the face of the earth is already responding to Me—not me as a man, as you see me in the outer sense, perhaps, in the sense of the external revelation of the fact, but from the standpoint of the inner vibrational factors as far as the God Being is concerned, that centering is there. And no God Being attempts to bypass the focalization on earth—no God Being, whether in you or in someone anywhere, ever violates that focalization.


When human beings imagine that they can do something that the God Being cannot do, and does not do, they are wrong. They can try, they can spend their lives, their periods of existence on earth, trying to do something else but it doesn’t work. Once any human being begins to realize that there must be a focalization on earth if the Divine Plan is to work on earth, we can see how important it is. God’s will is to be done on earth as it is in heaven—in exactly the same manner. The Divine Pattern comes to a point of focalization in heaven. If it is to work in exactly the same manner on earth it must come to focalization on earth. There is no other way. Anything else is utterly impossible.


So, we begin to realize the wonderful privilege and glorious responsibility we have here—not to go out and try to talk to other people about what I’ve just said. It would only turn them away; only confuse the issue. It is not in any sense necessary. But it is necessary that you begin to realize the reality of your own privilege and responsibility as a member of My Body on earth. And until you so do, you cannot respond to the LORD of Lords. You cannot fulfil His will if you, as a human being, violate His will as it is done in heaven within you. In the heaven within you, your own Lord does not violate His will according to that Divine Design—and the focalization must be on earth if there is to be a fulfillment on earth.


Now, we can readily see that man, trying to work from the outside in, on some basis of obtaining spiritual illumination, or progress of some kind, for himself, is violating the basic commandments of God—as surely as if he went out and undertook to deliberately do evil. Why is it that the so-called good people suffer the same problems, the same difficulties, the same illnesses, the same miseries that the so-called evil people do? This is the reason—because, in their very efforts to do what they think they want in relationship to God in the spiritual processes of growth, they violate the Law. They work contrary to the Law, and they suffer the ill consequences. Until the human being stops trying to get in to God, stops wanting, stops trying to impose his will, his determination, he cannot begin to know the fulfillment of Reality. But you say, “Well I want to have spiritual development so that I can go out and bless people. I want to be illumined. I want to have this so that I can render a greater service.” All right—your motivation is in a sense all right, your intent is all right, but your function is wrong, and if your function is wrong you will not get the results even though you are very sincere.


God is in action from heaven out through the earth—working from the inside out. And when you begin to accept the reality of your polarity with God without first having to be convinced of all of its factors—when you simply accept the Truth, because you see it, and yet do not know it in the sense of full experience, and remain true to that, it begins to move out through you. You begin to conscious of what God is doing. It begins to move you. You begin to speak and act in the current of what God is already doing, and then—Divine action through you. And there is growth, there is illumination, the gifts of God full and beautiful and complete, ready to be given to you as soon as you stop trying to get them, as soon as you begin to be a channel for their delivery into the earth. It is not a question of whether there are blessings, whether God wants to give blessings. God’s problem has been to find someone who would act as a delivery truck, a means of conveying them into the earth; and once you begin to let them be conveyed, you share them! They manifest through you, and you begin to be that which manifests by reason of your life. It’s so simple and so easy.


Human beings have struggled for so long, trying to make it work in some other way—but it doesn’t. They can flounder around in attempts to make the mind accomplish something or other, they can work with memory, they can work with whatever they can get their hands on—all kinds of ways. Many of these efforts were brought to a very fine point of development in India, for instance, long years ago; the patterns of self-activity which have kept humanity bound: the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil—the Forbidden Tree.





But God is in action and if you let Him act through you, by simply responding, letting it appear, in the little things and in the big, the process works out so easily, so naturally and so quickly. And you begin to be a blessing to those who share your Body of Being. Or, if it is My Body of Being, of which you are a Member, it is likewise your Body. It couldn’t be more your Body if you were the Focalization Point for it. It’s Your Body. It’s My Body, yes—but until you begin to actually realize that it’s Your Body, and that you have responsibilities in it, you have privileges, you cannot begin to come into that alignment where you are true to the Truth and you let Divine action appear through you. God’s Way does not take anything away from you. The fact that I provide the Focalization on earth does not detract from you one iota. How many of you would like to undertake to go through this process without any assistance from me? Well your presence here is answer enough.


Then, what is it that you should do? You should recognize that you cannot be something other than you are, and that God is not going to take away from you that which you are. No matter what method you try to use, you could not become, in any sense of Reality, something other than that which you are—and God is not going to take that away from you. You couldn’t be happy in being, or trying to be, something other than that which you are in Reality already. Trying to be something other than that only defeats you, and every part needs every other part. I need you—you need me. I need every man, woman and child on the face of the earth, without any exception. From the standpoint of the God Beings involved, they’re doing their part, but human beings haven’t learned to come into alignment with that which God Beings are doing. Once they do, all is well—the rest is so easy, so simple, so beautiful, so wonderful.


And once you begin to work, actually, from the inside out, letting it be God’s action through you, you do not have to meditate upon yourself. You do not have to meditate to convince yourself with respect to anything that you know, and if you know the things of Reality you are not under any necessity of meditating in order to know them. No. From the standpoint of our ministry on earth, when we work from within outward, we have to meditate upon the uncertain factors with which we are dealing. As yet, you are all question marks, to some degree; all X’s in the formula. Oh, I know what you are inside; that’s not the problem. I know what you are inside, from the standpoint of your God Being, from the standpoint of your Reality. From the standpoint of your true potential, I know what you are; I don’t have to convince myself of that, or try to find out what it is. There’s no problem. But, the question mark is: how well are you going to let that come out? What is there here that I can absolutely depend upon, so that a creative cycle may be initiated, and I can be absolutely sure that it will come out so, because everyone can be trusted, everyone will stay true to the Truth; there will be no reactions, nothing to spoil it; it will all work just the way God intended it to? When we work from within outward, we must meditate upon the things that we cannot say that we know. And can I say that I know just what you’re going to do, when, how? As you learn to maintain polarity and stay steady, I can begin to depend upon you. I have no other choice.


I begin to depend upon you so that you may begin to be a part of the Body—and we open a cycle to carry blessings to others. A certain pressure comes, things begin to move, there is a little power starting to manifest, and then if you give way the blessings don’t get out to those out there. We have to stop and repair the machinery, and start over again. And as long as the machinery keep breaking down, it doesn’t make any difference what God does. The fact that He’s doing something has no meaning on earth. He too must wait while we repair the machinery—get human beings worked out to a point where they’re willing to take some responsibility, hold steady, remain true to the Truth, let the power begin to work, let the pressure begin to come, let the force begin to have meaning, and we begin to move again—and whether we go three inches or five feet or ten miles depends on how well the machinery holds together. But the Lord is merciful, and patient, and as long as the individual has anything at all to offer in potential, in the outer sense, He keeps the door open for that individual.


The working of God is from within out, and once we begin to work in the same direction in which God is working—once we begin to work in the same direction in which God is working!—something starts to be what it ought to be. Do not imagine you are so far ahead of God that He will never catch up, if you start working in the direction He’s moving. And don’t imagine that you are so far behind God that He’ll never pay any attention. This present moment is the present moment for God too—not just you. This present moment is the present moment for God, for all God Beings, just as surely as it is for you—and once you begin to let it come from within outward you begin to be what you ought to be.


How do you share these things? By reason of their expression through you. If you are going in some other direction, can you begin to share them? No—because you will not be where they are. And how can you begin to share? In giving, in serving, in doing, in action—in action in the Spirit of the Living Christ. You know something about the reality of that Spirit. You do not have to try to get in to find it—it’s there; and you can begin to act in that current and remain true to it—and it’s there. Blessed Ones. God in action on earth through you becomes a reality as you let yourselves begin to truly give, truly serve, in a spirit of true thanksgiving—thanksgiving for the privilege, the opportunity and the responsibility. If you serve to get, you are working contrary to God’s Plan and it doesn’t work. You never get connected up with Him. If you give to get, you’re going in the wrong direction. If you are trying to utilize these opportunities and privileges for some purpose of self-aggrandizement you will fail. Why? Because you are going in the wrong direction—you are trying to move in the opposite direction from God. You are setting yourself up to be as God: to be as great as God, to be as powerful as God, to be as eternal as God, to be as wise as God. You’re going to choose your own course and overcome God so that you can be the god of all the universe. How senseless can human beings get? How foolish?


When you stop trying to work counter to God, and stop excusing any counter-patterns of action, you can begin to move with the Tide of Eternity. You can begin to move with the movement that has been from Eternity and is to Eternity, moving with the Stream of Being in the Currents of Life—and you begin to let the Beauty of the Truth manifest in the realm for which you are responsible. You begin to do, and God is in action on earth because you live.





In our Meditation yesterday we were considering the principles involved in letting blessings find expression on earth—of being a blessing to others or conveying blessings to others—the process of Attunement. And we began to see something. You began to realize that this portrayal with respect to Jacob’s Blessing to his Twelve Sons is a portrayal of world history—a portrayal of the vibratory factors working out from the Beginning, from the time that man was created, through the cycle of man’s fall, the outworking of the steps to this present time. And when we come to the end of the Blessing we see two things, revealed by two sons: Joseph, revealing the process which we are sharing at the present time of bringing about the Restoration; and Benjamin, showing the result, the outworking as it applies to the self-active ones in the world. “Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil.” The outer appearance of things—some going up and some going down, some letting the will of God be done and some refusing—the outer battle—the realm of the self-active ones. And what happens, in them and through them and to them? Here is the picture of world history, and the process of the fall.


And we remember that the First Born: “My might, the beginning of my strength.” Where? On earth. Man was the beginning of the manifestation of God’s strength on earth, so that God could begin to do in this realm of things that which was according to Divine Design. “The excellency of dignity”—Divine Men and Divine Women—“The excellency of dignity”—the Pattern of Nobility which God established for Men and Women, and to which He would return them, for God is not seeking to degrade human beings or make them feel low so that He can thereby feel that much higher. He is under no such necessity. He wills that you should be a Noble Man or a Noble Woman, revealing the Excellency of Dignity, revealing the Beauty of Truth, revealing the Reality of Eternal Life, centered in the Wonder of Everlasting Love.


And so, we are working out to the Restoration—to the Reality of Might, and the Beginning of Strength, and the Excellency of Dignity, and the Excellency of Power. That’s what was in the Beginning, and that is our Goal today—that these things of God may be made manifest on earth because we live.
