Let the Tone of Life Resound
John Gray February 3, 2019 Lake Elsinore, California
The group of us who are committed to provide content for these teleconferences has been considering wording for a landing-page
introduction for a new website to be named Tone of Life. We've
been refining our statement and though not the last word, this is what has evolved so far:
Welcome.
Tone of Life describes the spirit behind
the finest, most noble
qualities of character in every one of us.
This site is a meeting place
for people who are discovering
the truth of eternal being
and a deeper purpose in
life. It represents a true home where the tone of life rings clear
and where a transcendent vision of the world and of ourselves
is expressed.
You will find posted here
transcripts of current talks,
audios, videos, and comments that reveal
facets of
the divine potential in everyone. With clear minds and hearts, we are each a window into this world
through which the light of
spirit shines. In this meeting place above the
chaos and noise all around,
long forgotten truths are recalled and true
friendships remembered.
Together we may uplift the
world in communion with
many others who share a quickening awareness
of true purpose and destiny.
For centuries the traditions and
teachings of diverse cultures
around the world all, in one way or another, point to
an original state of perfection, a heaven on earth, which was lost to human experience. Ever since the fall of man's consciousness—a
story that's also told in many cultures—the divine mission
and challenge has been to re-unify what continues
to be unnaturally separated, to heal and restore the living experience
of divine oneness in human consciousness.
The phrase Tone of Life is one metaphoric
way to refer to the nature of this lost state. Let's be clear that it's not the
true state that is lost but human consciousness of it. The reality is as
present as it has ever been, but most people are unconscious of it, oblivious.
We could say most people are virtually deaf to the tone of life. This deafness
is not due so much to faulty hearing, but because the conductive medium which carries
the tone is inadequately present. Like a bell ringing in a vacuum jar, its
sound can't be heard because there's no air to convey it. If a little air is
allowed into the vacuum, the sound of the bell begins to be heard, faintly at
first. As more air is introduced, the sound of the bell—which is there ringing
all along—becomes louder to the ear. We may understand that the parallel to the air in this analogy is spiritual substance, something I think most human beings sense to some extent without knowing what they’re sensing. Spiritual substance is the essential medium for the tone of life to be audible in consciousness. Our bodies and minds and spiritual expression capacities are designed to be generators of spiritual substance. This substance is spiritualized physical substance—actually a large range of ascending substance all the way from the coarser, just beyond the physical, to the subtlest, most elevated vibratory rates for this world.
The fundamental activator of the generator is response to spirit. That may sound like a vague concept to some and a well-known principle to others. We recognize that the human form is not, in and of itself, its own source of life. Obviously when the form is separated from its animating source, which is spirit, the form becomes a quickly disintegrating corpse. There is some response to spirit in all living forms, most of it at unconscious levels, or the forms wouldn’t be alive. So there's a world of spiritual substance all around, the majority of it of the lower vibrational levels. The earth is vibrant with life. If just the physical level of things is considered, however, this is all a mystery. But in reality, it’s not.
Human beings are supposed to be the crowning creation of this world, meant to be at the apex. We are rightly the connection between invisible spirit and visible form for this little part of creation, but collectively we've done an inadequate job of it for as long as memory goes back. Humanity is more the missing link than the connecting link with the Creator. As abundant and beautiful as the life forms in this world indeed are, the original garden state is far beyond anything imaginable now. Yet the body of humanity lives on, at least so far. We and everybody else are parts of this world body. The collective body has a history of severe trauma going all the way back to the Adam and Eve allegory and ever since. Atrocities, brutalities, wars, and abuses of all sorts fill history books, and myths and legends suggest global catastrophes and horrors yet more deeply submerged in our collective subconscious. Maybe below that there's a vague wisp of memory of a paradise long lost. Perhaps we feel an innate longing for it in our bones.
We are human, and because of that we are each unavoidably connected to all the experiences humanity has ever had. We and every human being are all in this together. We each know about the degraded condition of humankind in the health or lack thereof in our own bodies, minds and hearts. Of course, the self-centered habit is to interpret everything we sense as personal, but only the most surface things are actually personal. This is the general state into which we've come, and none of us are exempt. Our personal bodies, minds and hearts are subjected to the frailties and inadequacies of the overall human condition, and that becomes more apparent as we get older! If we look at this circumstance only from below—in other words, view it as something we are under—we might find ourselves wallowing in hopelessness. Lots of people do drown in their suffering, as if there were no other choice. But thankfully many don’t.
Individuals come and go, most without ever really knowing why, but the body of humanity continues. Every human act, every thought, every feeling, that is resonant with the tone of life produces a contribution to the collective body of spiritual substance on earth. All sorts of things, good and bad, motivate human behavior. We are appropriately very thankful for every expression of noble character, great or small, made by countless people over the millennia. As for other behaviors, well, “Forgive them, Father, for they know not what they do,” is the divine—our—attitude.
Trauma—the word in English comes from a Greek root meaning wound—is defined as, “a severely disturbing experience that leads to lasting physical, psychological, and emotional impairment.” In recent decades the phenomenon of post-traumatic stress disorder has been recognized as widespread, and not limited just to people who know armed combat. As defined by the Mayo Clinic, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition best triggered by a terrifying event—either experiencing it or witnessing it. According to the Mayo article I read, some common PTSD symptoms include, “negative thoughts about oneself, other people or the world; hopelessness about the future, memory problems; difficulty maintaining close relationships; feeling detached or emotionally numb, being easily startled or frightened, self-destructive behavior; irritability, angry outbursts or aggressive behavior; overwhelming guilt or shame.” That’s quite a list. And who hasn't experienced at least some of those at times? They describe a lot of the general human condition. There’s a great deal of sadness, despair, fear and anger in the world, just to name a few. Is it any surprise if we sometimes feel those things too?
According to that great font of online wisdom, Wikipedia, “post-traumatic stress disorder, PTSD, once called shell shock or battle fatigue syndrome, is a serious condition that can develop after a person has experienced or witnessed a traumatic or terrifying event.” Later in the entry it mentions that the usual treatments for PTSD are psychological therapy and psychotropic drugs. It doesn't take an Einstein to recognize that, as Albert himself said, “No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.” The state of humanity and of the world cannot be fixed. The world body may be healed however. It can be made whole. Wholeness is known as spirit and form are unified in consciousness. Let's remember that healing doesn't mean damage never existed. Healing means it no longer controls our experience. To be made whole requires the fullness of connection between spirit and form be restored. Now some connection exists or none of us would be here, but the upper vibrational reaches of the spiritual substance of connection are tenuous. The divine challenge is to sufficiently accomplish the restoration of an apex focus of divine identity in enough individual human consciousnesses to hold that Presence in place for the rest of the world body.
This work was initiated long ago and all the essential precedents for its broader accomplishment are already established. For this we are profoundly thankful! Great Ones and many more have played vital parts along the way. If we see and understand these things now, then we are counted among those whose responsibility it is to further the divine mission toward its completion. The view, the perspective, from a consciousness of wholeness is totally different from that of the fragmented human condition we've all known. Here there is no longing to make the world a better place, actually, or to go to heaven after death. The design of the true place exists. We're here to provide the apex medium through which the wholeness of spiritual design appears in form and the world is made altogether new. We find out what that means as we do it!
How many billions of times do you think the Lord’s Prayer has been spoken over the centuries? “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:9-10) The “coming of the kingdom” is the reappearance of spiritual design in form, in earth. We play our parts in fulfilling this, the prayer of the Lord, as first we love and are fully responsive to the Father from whom the Spirit of God proceeds, and recognize that His name—which is the evidence of his Presence—is already, and is forever, hallowed, holy, whole.
Much of what's referred to as heaven here is already in earth. A world body of many gradations and qualities of spiritual substance exists. I think of it as all just waiting for the very finest vibrational levels to be sufficiently filled in. Then—all at once, and I suspect when nobody is looking—it becomes undeniably evident to all that “thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.” Let us be whole people, healed people, holy people. We are divine beings with human forms, not earth creatures aspiring to a divine identity. Let the amnesia of humanity be healed in us. Through the holy heart of humankind, the currents of love response flow up, the floods of radiance flow out, and the tone of life resounds!
