Heavenly  Consciousness

Lillian Exeter   Sunrise Ranch  May 15, 1988

What needs to be said in these days? What are the words to express the living Word through each one of us? What is really needed in any moment? Always there is need for thanksgiving, thanksgiving for the Supreme One’s presence with us, thanksgiving for the privilege of life here on earth. And I would also express thanksgiving for all of you, and for many more who share the living Word with us in these awesome days.

We have spoken of life as having substance, we have spoken of the fact that we generate substance. Now I think life has lots of its own substance; it manifests in a myriad of ways which we don’t seemingly have much to do with: a tree, a flower. Yet we do have a responsibility in this field, and we have been doing something for quite a few decades now. I noted in one of the printed mailings recently, of Martin’s, where he was pointing out that for many years it seemed there was always dissipation of this substance that had been generated, so we had to continually regenerate, live more, let there be specific generation of substance, needed here in this earth right now. I think the substance of the cosmos is doing very well; I see the stars, I see the moon and the planets. I think that substance seems to be just fine. But where is the substance of our living, of our own true living? Without it, I suspect we’d be pretty much a skeleton walking around, if indeed a skeleton can walk around.

We have come to a point where there is some strength known in living. We do have substance individually and collectively, this love substance that binds us together, that causes us to be as one. Isn’t it interesting—it always has been almost amazing to me—that a few hundred of us can be in a room like this and speak of oneness and know it is true? There are many thousands of people gathered in different rooms in the world, and there is such a feeling of aloneness and separateness, and heartache and sadness and sorrow. They know not the Lord; they know not oneness. And yet here we are. My consciousness can speak through my words to you and you understand, and you could speak to me and I would understand, because of this true generation of substance through our living.

You could say, “Well we’ve proven something.” Yes, but what have we proven? I think we’ve proved that again there are people on earth who are willing to yield to the incorruptible spiritual focus on earth, absolutely, and let it be all the way down to one’s toes and all the way up to the top of the head and all the way out to the fingertips, and be absolutely a yielded human being again, on earth, free, free in that yielding, free in the love that is known.

Am I afraid to lose freedom? What freedom?! Have I known freedom in the human world, in the human-nature world? There are prisons there, of heart and mind, of thought and feelings. The freedom is in the true worship of the Supreme One. Now that could be a paradox to the human mind: one releases oneself, yields oneself, to a supreme being of spirit and one is free? We are free in life. We are free to express life. We are free to love, free to walk and meet friend to friend, free to choose our momentary behavior.

I have been thinking of that, behavior, because we all behave every day. I mean, we all do something, don’t we, every day? I don’t think anyone just goes into a little shell like the new chick, and sits there, doesn’t behave, doesn’t do anything. We all have some kind of behavior, and we are free to choose, in that sense, the characteristics, the qualities, of that behavior, the spirit that moves through it by reason of motivation, true motivation, of life.

To understand, to know ourselves, is freedom. To know what caused us to walk this way for years with Martin is privilege indeed, is blessing indeed, not just to ourselves personally, but to all who will come to share in the expression of true being. What takes the place of the true understanding in my heart? Nothing. What can cause it to be gone? Nothing, unless I dissipate substance in the behavior of my living. And we would have none of that, ever again. One could say we have come too far; we have yielded ourselves, we have put ourselves on the altar, as it were. There is no other place for us.

We don’t belong in the world as it is. We belong in God’s world. We belong in the heavenly atmosphere, the heavenly consciousness, and I rejoice with you to be in that, to have that heavenly consciousness. From there can proceed anything that needs to be made into form, needs to manifest, needs to be created on earth. So we stand in this radiant position, the radiance of love, of light. Let that increase because I live. Let that increase because you live.

Perhaps sometimes we have accepted something inferior: “Oh well, it’s good enough.” It’s never good enough when that attitude is around. There is only one thing that is good enough: the perfect expression, the availability of the pure, free capacities. And then we know life and all its components.

Why should we know health? That relates to this purified capacity, heart and mind and body. Well there is only one reason to be healthy: To let a true creative expression of life be known, to acknowledge the Supreme One—so that we might do what we need to do here on earth. And when there is health of body, mind and heart, those capacities are absolutely the Lord’s, are the Supreme One’s. They are not ours. And the living Word proceeds through them because we let them be yielded.

I love the word absolute, that Martin was using for a year or two of late. The emphasis was on absoluteness. His own expression of life always carried that. And so must ours, and we do it joyfully and gladly, yielded to the spirit of the Lord, to the Supreme One.
