Responsibility  and  Authority

from  Special Session

Martin Cecil   August 18, 1978

You know from your own experience that if there is a refusal to accept responsibility you lose your authority. When you accept the responsibility, even though you may feel inadequate in the situation, the authority is still there. The authority goes with the responsibility—reject the responsibility, you reject the authority; accept the responsibility and move in it, and you have the authority. Not because you thought you had it before, perhaps; you may have thought you lacked it because of the sense of inadequacy—but accept the responsibility and you have the authority.

You may handle it, consequently, on the basis of the Tone which you have come to know. You really know what that is, so don’t dither around—sound it! Don’t say to yourself, “Well I am not just sure how the Tone should sound in this situation.” That is rejecting the responsibility, so you don’t have the authority or the experience of the Tone. Accept the responsibility and the Tone sounds, and you know the authority.

Martin's words in this instance are short but very exacting and to point; it was a delight to read his message from beginning to end---as always. Rather than quoting many of his words which he expressed so clearly and with authority, I would espress what is in my heart in thanksgiving for the many opportunities that came my way by being responsible for what was directly in front of me and in my path of true service. If for some reason I should neglect, or reject, my responsibility for any reason in any moment during these crucial times of increased intensities, I will fail my true purpose for which I incarnated in form on earth, but I know I cannot do that, and I won't. I willingly accept my responsibility and sound the Tone on earth. and in that I know authority. It certainly isn't authority to demand anything from an individual or the world body---I Am responsible and that is enough; I sound the Tone and that is wonderful; in fully accepting responsibility, I have authority.. Simple it is, but vital to get the job done.
