Our basic theme of magic as it is divinely designed, heavenly magic, opens up before us so many fascinating avenues of consideration that we may find it impossible to examine all that we would like to in the short time that we are together in this course. But I wish to bring to focus, as much as may be possible, the vital factors by which you may come into and maintain proper centering and orientation, that you may have a consciousness, an awareness in your mind, which will allow you to have connecting links with respect to those things which the Lord would reveal to you, and through you, by reason of the working of the spirit. You have recognized in relationship to your mind that we can move only from the known to the unknown, and the impulse of an idea coming from a divine source which has no connecting link in consciousness cannot be received or comprehended. There has to be a starting point. That is the reason why we have the necessity of instruction, periods of training.
Sometimes human beings seem to assume that if we had an ideal state there would be no need for any training or any instruction. In the Motherland, before the fall of man, there were schools of various kinds—universities, we might speak of them, in the advanced stage—opportunities for learning, education in the true sense; and as long as we recognize education as a means by which the consciousness may become aware of those things which may be properly utilized in the currents of divine inspiration we can make the best use of education. But if education is seen as an end in itself, it defeats itself. So the things you are learning day by day are designed to give you an opportunity to more and more have a means of yielding to the working of the spirit of God in yourselves. Perhaps we might well, at this point, since it is basic to our present theme, give a little consideration to this matter of yielding within the scope of comprehension.
I mentioned, I believe yesterday, that the Book of Revelation is a book of magic, and the beginning part of it here is particularly interesting and apropos. Now we remember that Christ is not a person but the spirit of God issuing forth from God. Those who were translators and copyists tended to make some little changes and alterations from time to time on the basis of their concept of what it really meant, to make it easier for other people to understand, and sometimes they were a little inclined to confuse the issue. However if we recognize that Jesus, to use that name in that form, was the manifestation of the man through which the Christ Spirit, or the only begotten Son of God, found focalized expression in the essence of being, there needs to be no confusion here.
“The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass.”
“Must shortly come to pass.” Now that was written about 96 A.D. and this is 1953; nearly nineteen centuries, roughly 1,850 years. “Things which must shortly come to pass.” It is interesting to recognize that from the standpoint of reality there is always an acknowledgment of the fact that it does not need to take so long. It did not need to take this long. But in the cosmic cycles of time we can from a Divine standpoint say that eighteen, nineteen hundred years is not very long—for one day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. But for humanity it is a long, long time.
“… and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.”
“Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy.” Well if I am reading them this morning and you are hearing them, that includes all of us, doesn't it? “... and keep those things which are written therein.
Let us remember what a prophecy is: [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/2018/03/priest-of-most-high-god-from-abram-lot.html] not so much a foretelling, not something that is primarily a matter of prediction of things or events in the future, but a matter of letting reality be revealed in the moment, through words, attitudes, thoughts, feelings, gestures, acts. Anything which human beings may do or express which reveals the Divine is a part of prophecy. Generally speaking human beings feel themselves to be separated by a wide gulf from the act of prophesying. “The prophets of old,” we say, and they are a long, long time gone. We need to begin to realize that heavenly magic is revealed by the expression of the Divine through you, and wherever the Divine is in expression through you, there is magic, and that is prophesying. You are here to learn how to prophesy.
You recognize that from the standpoint of this true meaning of the word, I am here as a prophet, one who gives expression to the things of God on earth, and you are learning to share that process, that you may be prophets or, shall we say, prophetesses—that gets unnecessarily complicated; my point is that it applies to male or female. You can learn to let the things of God appear through you. And that appearing of the things of God is what? It is revelation. Revelation. When we begin to see the Book of Revelation for what it really is, then we see that instead of being so much the revelation, it is the revelation of the laws and principles and processes of heavenly magic by which you may become the revelation. You are supposed to be the revelation, and until we recognize that, we cannot possibly properly understand this Book.
“Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy.” There is another very clear implication there, which we might pause to note, and that is that in due season there would be one specific person who would be qualified to read these words, and others would hear. “Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.” And we read here: “John [the apostle John] to the seven churches which are in Asia…”
Now let us pause to consider. The ordinary, intellectual approach to this would make a person feel, “Well there must have been some Asiatic churches then, in those days, and they were going to write to these churches in Asia, and I suppose that was where China is, and India, and maybe the Near East, Asia Minor, and so on. So now, forthwith, what's said here is expressed to some of the churches, church groups. They probably had a building that they called a church, I suppose, and they were writing these words to some churches in Asia where the occult perception was great, or something.” You see how foolish it is?
What does Asia signify here? It is obvious, if we just stop to think. You have recognized the working of the One Law, and I have pointed out that you want to always orient to that Law with respect to everything. What are we talking about here? The revelation of God on earth. If it is to be on earth it must be the whole earth—the whole earth. But if there is a whole earth there are positive and negative aspects of the earth itself, and there would be something to signify the particular pattern that was necessary to the adequate comprehension of that which was presented. We recognize, in other words, that the Occident represents the positive aspect of the planet itself, and the peoples reveal that; and the Orient represents the negative aspect of the planet, and the peoples reveal that. It is not just a matter of men and women as such, male and female. But we have the positive and the negative aspects of the planet, and we see that the peoples who dwell on these particular portions of the planet reveal the characteristics: the Occident and the Orient. The other parts of the world that are not ordinarily thought of in that sense are either mixed or participate in one way or another, one direction or the other. But we have the Occident and the Orient, and when there is specific mention of Asia, what do you think of? The Orient. And the Orient signifies what? Those who have the capacity to respond, to be properly negative to receive the revelation, whether it is on the North American Continent or Africa or in Asia.
So just a little understanding, and in the current of the spirit, shows you that Asia is mentioned here specifically so that immediately, from the very introduction of the thing, you would recognize the necessity of being properly responsive, properly receptive, properly negative, to the Divine Revelation. You see how simple it is?
“John to the seven churches which are in Asia.” Are there only seven churches in Asia? Yes. But what is Asia? Seven Churches in Asia—the responding ones of the world, the seven aspects of focalization in world response. The body of the world responding ones. So every responding person on the face of the whole earth comes under one of these classifications, and it would make a fascinating period of study to examine all of them carefully, but for the moment we are going to have to skip that. Our time simply will not allow us to explore all of these fascinating avenues of consideration.
“Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the Seven Spirits which are before his throne.”
“From him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne.” What is His Throne? There may be aspects of that throne which are invisible and are not for the moment important to us, but if there be a throne it must have visible form. What is the throne? The earth. The outer manifestation of creation should provide the throne, the centering of the Kingdom in the manifestation of the Kingdom itself. When a king or a queen ascends the throne, the throne may be a specific place, a centering, a point of focalization, but it has to do with the entire kingdom. And if you speak of the throne of England, for instance, you mean something that recognizes the whole empire, not just the island itself even. It includes the whole thing. Since that is true, we see that the throne includes the whole Kingdom. And the Master on earth had taught men to pray, “Thy kingdom come.” Here in this particular revelation, we see, “Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come”—the manifestation to come—“and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne.”
“And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth.”
Now sometimes people turn to that text when they say, “You say Jesus didn't die on the cross, and here it says that He was the first begotten of the dead, ‘the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth.’” In another place (John 3:16) we remember the words, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son.” He was the first begotten of God, then, the revelation of the focalization of deity, the Son of God; the first begotten of God and the first begotten of the dead. Interesting. The first begotten of the dead. Who are the dead? The limited, human vision might immediately think of all the cemeteries, and I suppose whatever was put in the cemetery is dead enough; but we are not thinking of that. We are thinking about human beings, and that which is in the cemetery is not a human being, is it? No, the dead are those who are subject to death, those who are in the world of death; humanity, the first begotten of God and the first begotten of the dead—humanity as a whole.
And if there is the first begotten of both God and the dead, there must be a meeting point between God and the dead. Not physically dead, for when a person is physically dead there isn't any means of doing anything with it. That substance must wait for the second resurrection, the second resurrection through the vegetable kingdom; for the vegetable kingdom is a part of the process of resurrection, lifting the substance of the dust into the forms of life, and then gradually that substance gets back up into the various levels of life and form in manifestation on earth. But the human being who is not physically dead but who is among the dead. And what human being do you know in the world, working in the world pattern, who does not come under that classification?
The first begotten of the dead. The meeting place between humanity and God. This meeting place must be the center of our interest and our concern. It is the point at which heavenly magic begins to have meaning on earth to human beings. We have recognized it as the reality of the working of the Christ Spirit. But the Christ Spirit has Seven Aspects, and so here you are introduced to “the seven Spirits before his throne,” and until there is a recognition of the reality of these Seven Spirits, so that you come to function correctly in relationship to them, you cannot know the real Magic of Heaven, the Magic of Love and Truth and Life.
“Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood …” Now that particular expression there has confused many people—"and washed us from our sins in his own blood.” Because human beings have failed to recognize the symbolism of language, some peculiar concepts have developed. But if He washed us in His own blood, He washed us in His life, the expression of life. Whose life? God's life. And blood indicates that that life manifests in relationship to the physical realm, so that it is for you. You as a human being can share it and know it, the expression of life in the physical body on earth. What kind of life? Heavenly life, the life that God designed. “And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father …”
“And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father.” Here you are learning how to be Kings and Priests. That is our purpose on Sunrise Ranch, the magic of heavenly life in the physical form on earth, that we may be Kings and Priests unto God and His Father. “… to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.”
“Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him.” Every eye. The eye permits vision. The Master spoke of those who have the Single Eye, or whose eye is single, that if the eye be single the whole body shall be full of light. Light makes possible comprehension, appreciation, recognition, vision. “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him.” It is interesting, isn't it, that the terminology here is “and they also.” “And every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him”—which would signify that those who pierced Him would not have the eye. Isn't that right? “Every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him”—"they also which pierced him.” Now to the ordinary, limited concept of approach I suppose this would mean those who were the ones who drove the nails, the man who shoved the spear into His side, and those who were directly responsible for giving the orders that produced this result. How many? Maybe eight or ten. But their bodies are dead and gone. “And they also which pierced him.”
It is a misunderstanding of such passages as this that promotes the idea that somehow those dead bodies are going to come up out of the dust of the ground to be reformed and refunction as human beings. But who are they who pierce Him? Those who rebel against Him. Those who fight against His Kingdom and its manifestation. Those who are disobedient. Those who crucify on their own bodies the manifestation of the Christ Spirit, the revelation of deity. And so, “Every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him.” Now we noticed that those who have the eye see Him first. They are mentioned first. It is an indication that that is a perfectly natural and readily understood process. Those who have the eye shall see Him. But “they also which pierced him.” Here we are getting into the realm of magic, very definitely. Here we have some of the fundamental, primary aspects of the Principles of Magic.
In black magic there is the use of physical blood. There is always some kind of a physical sacrifice, one way or another; human beings being sacrificed, perhaps not just having their throats slit but they are being sacrificed and their lifeblood poured out. In Haiti, for instance, where some of the more recognizable forms of black magic have been in operation, there was a time when human sacrifices provided the blood necessary for certain of the rites, black magic rites; but with the coming of so-called civilization there was a reduction, at least in the number of people who were so sacrificed, and they started substituting the blood of roosters or the blood of chickens, or something of that nature. There were vibrational factors which entered into the development of particularized fields, so that the sacrificed rooster had the life force drawn out of it to be reutilized in some other fashion. I suppose we could make an excursion into such things, but really it is not of much avail. But there is blood always, physical blood, in black magic. If we are going to have Heavenly Magic have meaning on earth there must be blood—that is, life—in relationship to it too; not the sacrificing of life, but the sacrificing of those things which prevent life, those things which limit life. And we have the word, “Behold, he cometh with clouds.”
“Behold, he cometh with clouds.” How many of you have seen the clouds that are spoken of here? We are not talking about clouds in the sky; we are talking about the clouds of spiritual experience, clouds that can be seen. Were you ever sitting in a room with full awareness of your senses of perception, wide awake in other words, where the Silvery Cloud of Glory began to gather round until it filled the whole room, filling the room to the point where you could not see objects in the room? We remember in the Old Testament period, with respect to the Tabernacle it was often the expression, “The pillar of cloud by day, and the pillar of fire by night,” and also the expression, “The glory of the Lord filled the Temple and shone round about.” Now what would it be like to have the Glory of the Lord fill the Temple and shine round about? What would you expect to see? The Glory of the Lord filling the Temple?
Now of course the sanctuary, the Tabernacle, was simply a symbol of the Temple, for the human body is the Temple; your body, it is the Temple of God. But the Glory of the Lord is to fill the Temple and shine round about. Well the first level of perception with respect to this has to do with life, the vibrancy of life, which is specifically the point in relationship to Glory—the vibrancy of life, the fulness of life, the beauty, the wonder of life, filling the Temple of your own body and shining round about, made manifest in the aliveness of your being, your attitude, your action, your thoughts, your deeds, the joy of living, the magic of living. That, then, is to fill the Temple and shine round about. You can recognize, then, that much of it at least. But the Glory of the Lord is to fill the Temple.
What is back of this Glory of Life? We recognize there is the Beauty of Truth and the Wonder of Love always back of the Glory of Life. “Behold, he cometh with clouds.” The awareness of the clouds. It says, “Every eye shall see him.” “He cometh with clouds”—plural, not just “a cloud.” “He cometh with clouds.” We begin to see how the distorted human concepts have fastened on limited or childish ideas and developed concepts which are altogether out of order, completely misleading. “He cometh with clouds.” The human mind might suggest, “Well He would only need one cloud, so I guess all of His Angels had the other clouds and He is coming with clouds, so …” and so on. There is an element of truth in that, but it develops such a false picture unless it is seen correctly. “He cometh with clouds.” How does the reality of the KING and the expression of His dominion come to you in the earth of your Temple? “He cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him.” This has been limited to a concept that there would simply be a visual recognition of a form of a man or a being of some sort, instead of recognizing the coming of the expression of deity, of the Christ Spirit. He.
“He” relates to the focalization of the Spirit of Love, for instance, but “he” also relates to the expression of that Spirit. Did you ever, at any time in your life, feel something of love working through you, something of particular joy or happiness, and you said, “I'm just walking on clouds today, just in the clouds.” And you didn't mean the clouds of the sky either, did you? No. Whether you had recognized the reality of the situation or not, at least you had touched the Cloud of Love, and there was something which to your eye looked beautiful and wonderful, and that was what counted; you were in the clouds, walking on clouds, and it was lovely.
“He cometh with clouds.” Now this matter of touching the cloud, or just getting into the edge of it, so to speak, is about as much as human beings ever do when the function works out in the fallen world. The young person begins to fall in love, or something of that sort, and pretty soon there is something going wrong and the cloud is lost; there may be a sweet memory, but that is about all, and the cloud is gone. But, “He cometh.” He. Just the KING as such? Or the reality of His dominion, His majesty? “He cometh”—the extension of His Kingdom. Must He come as an individual, personalized being? come visiting each and every one of the people on earth who begin to think something about the KING? How about their coming to the KING insofar as the personal aspect of it is concerned? But, “He cometh”; His Kingdom cometh. “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” So, “He cometh with clouds”—the coming of His Kingdom, the extension of His dominion, as it is put here, into the individual life, the beginning, the basis, of magic, Heavenly Magic. And these clouds, you can reach a point where you can see them, when “every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him.”
Now once we begin to let the power, the dominion, the Kingdom of the KING, be really made manifest, the “kindreds of the earth,” those who have kinship with the earth or the prince of this world, will wail because of Him. But He has to manifest first. There has to be the reality of His expression in life on earth. Here we have a point which emphasizes some of our consideration of yesterday; for instead of fighting with or against the various forms of evil, we see that once we begin to function correctly evil will try to fight with us. If evil can overthrow us, then evil is stronger than we are; but if we are stronger than evil is, by reason of centering in deity, evil is overthrown by its own fighting. So by holding steady we let evil wear itself out and destroy itself, just letting it fight, meeting it in the sense of letting the power of God work. But there is that stability, that strength, which is unmoved under these pressures which arise, and it is this that gives the first evidence of dominion; for dominion is control.
Are we particularly interested in having dominion over evil? What would you do with it if you did have dominion over evil and you could control all the evil? Have you a place to put it, a place to keep it? Would you like to have dominion over all the evil? That would make you satan, wouldn't it? The point is, who wants dominion over evil? And what would you do with it if you had it? Where would you put it? There is no place on earth for it, no true place, so you would have to go somewhere else. There is no place in the cosmos for it, so you would have to go somewhere else, and maybe you could find it. No, we are not interested in dominion over evil, are we? No. We are not interested in dominion over evil. What a poor goal that would be, if we were starting out to have dominion over evil.
Our concern is to have dominion over the things which God has made, the dominion of the Kingdom of Heaven on earth, dominion over creation, dominion over the forces and powers of creation, and that is Heavenly Magic—dominion over the things that count, not over the things that do not count. Well then, in this contest, as we hold center and let the things of God work in and through us, we may recognize that evil is fighting against us; and once we become centered, the pattern works out and the hedge holds, there is no stress or strain, the evil cannot touch you, it does not put any load on you. Sometimes people seem to think that they are rendering some particularized service by being constantly subject to some great pressure. Well there are pressures, and until you learn how to abide inside of the hedge, you will run up against them in a personal or individual sense. But as long as the hedge holds and you live inside of the hedge, you will not even feel the pressure, because you are living in the pressure of God.
You get conditioned to a pressure realm and you are living in the pressure. We are living in the atmospheric pressure around us here, physically speaking. What is it?—around fourteen pounds at sea level? Something like that, as I recall. That is, per square inch. In other words there are tons of pressure on your body, but you are used to living in pressure and you don't feel that pressure, it isn't any concern to you, it doesn't bother you in the least. If you go up or down too much, too far, you will feel the variations of pressure, but once you are used to the pressure at any given level you live in it and are not disturbed by it. Now if that is true with respect to the atmosphere around, it is likewise true with respect to the working of God's power.
Within the hedge, you learn to live in that pressure, and it is a perfectly natural thing and causes absolutely no discomfort—absolutely no discomfort. The only discomfort comes when someone breaks the hedge and someone violates the principles, so that one is exposed to unnatural variations of pressure, or the pressure in action. So the pressure of God's power in dominion is working through you out into the world. Doing what? Gaining dominion over evil? No, simply repelling it, repelling it until, when there is correct function on the part of enough people, there shall be no place found for it. It is repelled off the face of the earth, so it has to go into the nothingness from whence it came. We are not interested in having dominion over evil. We are not going to try to overcome the devil or establish control over the devil, or any of these things.
We are interested in letting the dominion be established in relationship to the things of God in us, around us, through us, to all who will receive. And these things appear, this expression of dominion, or the Kingdom, the reality, through the clouds, the Clouds of the Spirit of Love, the Clouds of the Spirit of Truth, and the Clouds of the Spirit of Life particularly. “Behold, he cometh with clouds,” establishing the victory and the dominion and the glory in you. “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
“I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation.”
“I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation …” There we find that which is necessary to us in service. We have to be a companion to the responding ones in tribulation, not acting as if we were completely aloof and separate, as if we didn't know anything about what tribulation is or might be. In order to help people we must be companions with them in their tribulation; but that does not mean that we have to be so sympathetic with them in their sufferings that we become subject to their sufferings, subject to the evil. No.
“I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.” You all recognize of course that that means that he was in exile, in prison as it were, for the Isle of Patmos was used as a place to exile or imprison the various characters who got in the way of the Roman government. And so John was a prisoner, an exile, on the Isle of Patmos at the time of the writing of the Book of Revelation.
“I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day.” Now which is the Lord's day? The Lord's day, does that mean Saturday or Sunday or Friday? Or what does it mean? It means every day is supposed to be the Lord's day, every day of the week. Every day of the week is supposed to be the Lord's day. And when we begin to realize that every day is the Lord's day, we begin to recognize that now is the accepted time. We are not just going to let the Spirit of God have meaning next week or next Lord's day; we are going to recognize that this is the Lord's day and we are going to enjoy and utilize this present moment in the outworking of the cycles of eternity. “I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day.” You are gradually learning how to be in the Spirit. In order to be in the Spirit you have to let the Spirit be in you. But what Spirit are we talking about? The Spirit of God, the Christ Spirit. The Spirit must be in you before you can be in the spirit, in the sense of awareness, in the sense of having meaning. There must be a recognition that this is the Lord's day, and you need to be in the Spirit.
“I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet.” And heard behind me a Great Voice. We recognize here the principle that human beings are generally looking in the wrong direction. And when they begin to hear the Voice of the Lord they have to turn around. When you begin to hear the Voice of the Lord it is generally behind you, because you are facing the wrong direction; that is, I mean, in the beginnings of the cycle of revelation, the revelation of deity in and through you. And so you are learning to turn and face the throne so that the expression of the Lord may be to you face-to-face. You will not have to hear it always behind your back. “… and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet. And I turned to see the voice that spake with me.”
“I turned to see the voice that spake with me.” Here is magic, Heavenly Magic, the beginning of the recognition of the Revelation of the Divine Pattern of Life through you, the reality of the dominion, the reality of the Kingdom, the reality of the power of the Kingdom, the reality of its glory in your life. And so here we have some of the basic principles essential to our understanding of heavenly magic, that we may share the revelation of God and our KING on earth.

"He cometh with clouds..." -- what an accurate image. I've flown in clouds
(or rather within and between them) in a small plane and the effect is
overwhelming. It always filled me with joy. And this is the point, isn't it
-- that when the glory of God surrounds us/ me there is deep feeling
involved and it is thoroughly lovely. Such is the glory of heaven and it is
in the earth in me. Regards, Robert S Kauffman
The "Basis of Magic---Revelation," are the words "And I turned to see the voice that spake with me." I have to turn to hear the voice. In another words I have to turn to read such words posted, I have to stop and consider the words of God whether in a service such as this or what may be signaling to my consciousness to listen to hear internally.
I am reminded of the words, "AND unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans.. I know thy works, that thou are neither cold nor hot...because thou art lukewarm...I will spew thee out of my mouth...be zealous therefore and repent. Behold I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne..."
Here is the basis of magic!!!!
