There is plenty of evidence that
it is so, plenty of Truth to support the fact that can be readily comprehended—and
if you are going to let increased power manifest through you in any level of
life, it must be because you are sharing the responsibilities and the functions
of focalization, and without them you cannot be what you ought to be.

Undimensional and Dimensional
Heaven and Earth
from The Two Crossover Points
Martin Cecil November 11, 1979
By reason of all that has happened on the face of the earth heretofore, we have been brought to this hour with the level of understanding that is present with us. We should indeed be very conscious of the tremendous responsibility that rests upon us. Many millions of people on the face of the earth come to this hour without any particular awareness of anything that means very much, but for whatever reason, we are the ones who have some awareness. Whether we like it or not this certainly places upon us a factual responsibility. Being people of integrity, I am sure that we would wish to acknowledge these things and accept the responsibility. Presumably that is why we are here present this morning, amongst other things.
We have become aware that our responsibility relates primarily to what have been referred to as essences. There are essences and there are forms. We have all been very conscious of forms, as has been the case with people everywhere. Many have a certain awareness, and even experience, of essences, but usually these are not seen as being primary. We recognize them to be primary, even though we may not always behave in line with this recognition. Always when we assemble together, as we are this morning, there properly is a keen awareness of the reality of essences and that we have a particular responsibility in this field now; not really so much to talk about essences or to try to explain them. Anything that you could explain would be a concept of the mind, and while there are essences related to the mind, to the mental level, these are not the ones with which we are presently most concerned. In one way or another we have been participating in mental essences to some degree heretofore, but our immediate concern is with spiritual essences, or what might be referred to as heavenly essences. Using these words, it doesn't particularly tell us, mentally speaking, what they are, but we may have a certain sensing of something here.
We have a recognition of the fine spiritual substance which is capable of accommodating the undimensional spirit of God. This fine spiritual substance is of a dimensional nature—it is in the dimensional world. It composes the heaven aspect of this dimensional world—and there is fine substance present capable of accommodating the undimensional spirit of God. When this substance in union with the spirit of God is considered we may speak of it as heavenly essences. We may have an awareness of the factual nature of heavenly essences without really comprehending what they are. We certainly can't analyze them, mentally speaking, and find out what they are, but we may have a rather firm awareness of the reality of their existence, not only of the reality but of the importance of their existence, in fact so important that we would not exist without them. Being a little self-centered yet, this probably has some significance to us.
These heavenly essences are real. Here is a very fine substance in combination with spirit. Because this substance is capable of accommodating spirit then this substance must merge into the undimensional levels of spirit. There is what might be termed a crossover line, or a crossover point, between the undimensional realm and the dimensional realm. For spirit to emerge and find union with this fine spiritual substance there is the need for a focus of connection if what emerges is to find creative expression. This point of connection between the undimensional realms and the dimensional realms of the fine substance of heaven, this crossover point by which spirit emerges into the dimensional world, has been referred to by using the word Lord.
This may be expanded upon on occasion by qualifying words: the Lord of Love, for instance, or the LORD of Lords. The latter would indicate that while there is a focus point, that focus point in fact includes considerably more in a differentiated sense. The word Lord can indicate the point or points of connection or crossover between the undimensional realm and the dimensional realm of the essences of heaven. We already have a certain awareness of this without necessarily comprehending what it means, but we also are aware of another crossover point, in a way a reproduction of the one just indicated—and this crossover point is between the fine substance of heaven and the coarser substance of earth. This crossover point is properly occupied by Man.
Man is indicated as having been made in the image and likeness of God; in other words here is a reproduction relative to a crossover point, for one thing, a point of connection. Just as there is a point of connection between the undimensional realm and the dimensional realm, so is there a point of connection between the heaven aspect of the dimensional realm and the earth aspect of the dimensional realm—and this is rightly occupied by Man. The position has been vacant for a while and, as we have noted before, human beings consequently have found themselves unemployed. Unemployment is demoralizing, and so man has become demoralized. This is a good way of describing the state of affairs. In an endeavor to reestablish a state of meaningful experience he has of course tried to find employment, but it has never proved to be satisfactory. There is no satisfactory employment in human experience except when the responsibility of man is once more assumed; then immediately he is employed, no more demoralization.
We can see this in generalized terms as possibly being true, but the only way we can find out if it is actually true is to experience the reality for ourselves. There is a precedent in this regard, because the Lord has already accepted His responsibility—in fact He never relinquished it. So the reality has always been present to be reproduced in human experience; and that in fact is what has been referred to as the restoration of man. Man only really exists when he is in place, when he is where he belongs, when he is doing what is his responsibility to do. Human beings very often think it is hard to fulfil responsibility, that it is rather a tough commission. The fact of the matter is that when man is in place it is easy. He has been trying to fulfil commissions of various sorts, most of which he thought up for himself, without being in place, and that is tough; that is hard; that is a struggle; that involves sweat of the face. So human beings have lived in what they thought of as a vale of tears, but it was deliberately done and deliberately chosen. There is no necessity at all for this.
In recognizing our responsibility we see it in terms of letting ourselves be restored to the place where we belong. Strangely enough nobody is keeping us out of that place, except what we have thought of as ourselves. Of course we have taken a look at this self before, but fundamentally it is a mental self, isn't it? We have decided that the mind is what we are, with the body thrown in, I suppose. Some people of course concentrate more on the body, some more on the mind; but wherever the point of concentration may be it is a mental one. So here is a false self being experienced—a pretty lowly experience in view of the fact that there are other earthly essences above the mind, let alone what is present insofar as heavenly essences are concerned. So human beings exist near the bottom of this ocean of essences—but there is present the potential, to human experience, of living at the higher levels of essences.
The place of the identity of Man is at the crossover point between the heavenly essences and the earthly essences. There is substance at this level, which has been described as a sea of glass clear as crystal—at least this is the true substance—so that what is of the heavenly essences can easily be reflected in the earthly essences. It is not blocked off by a darkened veil, rightly. It is blocked off now by a darkened veil, the impure heart, the mixed-up emotional realm in human beings. But at the level of emotion there is substance which is clear as crystal—a sea of glass clear as crystal. The veil itself is actually below that level, so that human beings function in the depths without realizing, in any meaningful sense, that there are other levels of experience. These other levels of experience are not separate from the depths.
If we use the ocean as an analogy, it is water all the way down, just a variation in pressure. So the substance, whether heavenly or earthly, is all the same substance but at different vibratory levels, we say. And man was designed to be capable of living in this substance. Sometimes air makes a good analogy—we do in fact live at the bottom of an ocean of air physically speaking—and water sometimes makes a good analogy also. When you come right down to it air and water are not so different.
So the place of man is at this crossover point. We have seen this symbolically speaking by the figure X. There is a point in the middle where something, symbolized by the V above, crosses over into the inverted V below—heavenly essences above, earthly essences below—and heavenly essences in union with the earthly essences are reflected by the earthly essences. The reality of the fact of the oneness of heaven and earth is thereby revealed. The garden of God consequently emerges into earthly manifestation on this basis, but only when there is the means for that emergence; and that means is Man, as we well know.
Man is not at that crossover point presently. However if we see the necessity of being at that crossover point then we will, if we have integrity, assume that responsibility of being there; not that we can make ourselves be there, certainly not by mental effort, which a lot of people have tried—great concentration of some kind. What the human mind can understand of itself is only what is at its own level or below. It cannot understand what is above; it can theorize about it and indulge in some imagination. Perhaps some of our consideration now relates to theory. However, we are charged with the responsibility of proving it out—because we see the picture.
So the Lord is at the crossover point between the dimensional realm and the undimensional realm. At that point He represents something higher still. If we think of the Lord in terms of the One who incarnated on earth in the form of Jesus we will recall that He spoke of His Father—something higher still. There is the representation at that crossover point of undimensional God brought to focus relative to this world, so that something specific in creative action may occur relative to this world. By the same token, Man when he is in place represents the Lord at the crossover point between heavenly essences and earthly essences. Here is the reproduction of the higher representation, so that the creation may be complete insofar as this world is concerned, no longer held out as it is now by human beings who are not in place. They try to keep the world for themselves, to manipulate it into a way that would be pleasing and satisfactory to themselves. We are concerned with the restoration—not merely with thinking about it, theorizing about it, imagining what it might be, but letting it happen.
How reluctant human beings are to let something really happen. They have got into the habit of preferring theory—but the theories are always found wanting, every time. I don't care who it is that invents the theory, it will certainly always be less than expected in its actual application. In fact these theories which human beings have, produce monsters—anything that human beings create in this way becomes a monster. There is a monstrous monster in the world today, isn't there? Who produced it? Did some malign devil somewhere produce it? Unless you call human beings the devil, the devil did not do it. Of course if you do call human beings the devil, then the devil did do it!
Now we have the responsibility for the restoration; not to try to make people, whoever they are, be restored somehow but to let it happen in our own experience, as individuals to start with. If we let it happen in our own experience as individuals then we begin to find that we are not just individuals. We are not only related to each other in heavenly heredity but we are One. As the veil is dissolved, as hearts are purified so that the human state of existence is no longer consequent upon emotional reaction to circumstances and events but begins to reveal the heavenly essences, allowing these to bring forth the expression of life, then there may be intelligent function relative to essences.
There are heavenly essences and there are earthly essences. This is the way it is and the way it should be. The heavenly essences are rightly permeated by the spirit of God. This is the case already—we don't have to make it so, certainly. The earthly essences should be permeated by the heavenly essences. This we can permit to happen. This is our responsibility. All that is essential is present. It doesn't take great mental effort to produce it; it is already there. When the mind stops trying to make things be, it may become sufficiently malleable to be moved by the spiritual essences that are present. Of course it won't allow that to happen if it is busy following out its own designs and purposes, which are the designs and purposes of human beings identified with their minds.
How many designs and purposes do you have? Perhaps I won't give opportunity for you all to answer that question because it might occupy some time. It shouldn't, mind you. It should be more or less a blank, because the designs and purposes are not yet present in the human mind. “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard.” The designs and purposes are in the heavenly essences, and if there is an unwillingness to let those heavenly essences emerge into the earthly essences, which would include amongst other things the mental essences, then there is no way by which the creative purposes of God may occur.
Everything essential is here. There are two crossover points relative to this world—we are talking about what is here; we are not going off in flights of fancy into the universe—we are responsible here. So there is a point of focus referred to as the Lord at the crossover point between the undimensional and the dimensional. The Lord does not stand alone. He is the LORD of Lords. Okay, that indicates a configuration of some kind; in other words what is present in the undimensional realm is brought to focus as necessary, that it may emerge into the dimensional realm of the heavenly essences. By the same token, at the crossover point between the heavenly essences and the earthly essences there is a point of focus.
We are keenly aware, I am sure, of the principle of focalization, even though a lot of people rebel against it, contend with the idea of it and sometimes with the fact of it. That very contention gives indication that the person knows something about focalization. So there must be focalization relative to the crossover point. There are various levels of focalization at each crossover point, because you can well see that individually speaking your true position is at that crossover point; therefore you are at that point of focus as an individual. But we see that that crossover point, while it has individual connotations, is also a collective thing, because Man is supposed to be at that crossover point—mankind.
In order to permit that experience to come again there must be the provision at the crossover point of what is necessary to extend the creative power which brings it to pass. And that is not just one person, one individual. Whatever that point is at this level of consideration it is a collective thing. But within the scope of that collective formation there is a point of focus—then that collective formation is a point of focus for a larger formation, until you include the whole of mankind. Finally the whole of mankind is at the point of focus for the creative purposes of all that is beyond mankind. Yet when we use words like beyond, there is no proper indication of separation, because the whole living formation operates from within, not on the basis of externally applied controls.
The whole of the heaven and earth relative to mankind and beyond is operational because of something being born from inside. It is being born, first of all, out of the undimensional realm, out of apparently nothing, into the dimensional realm: first of all at the level of the heavenly essences, which are beyond the scope of the mind to understand; and yet it happens. What emerges, is born, out of heaven into the earth in our own experience. But then the mind becomes so important in its own eyes that it assumes the identity of the person: “This is me,” it says. And that is the experience of most human beings as far as it goes. It is a false experience. There would not be any opportunity to have that experience at all if it were not for the truth of the matter—what is beyond and above the human mind; but the whole operation of the universe, the whole operation of the little atom, springs forth from within. Human beings examining these things in all seriousness look at the interactions of what is happening on the surface: this caused that. No it didn't! Everything that occurs springs forth because it is born from within.
Now, we use the word within, and that may give a peculiar idea to the human mind too. The human mind does not need to get within. It cannot, because there is something already present there; and it is this coming forth, being born into expression, that makes it possible to know what it is. The truth is present and ready to be born. There is a way that it happens, not just by chance. There is the necessity of malleable substance through which what is coming forth may reveal itself. If the substance is not malleable the only revelation will be an extremely distorted thing, won't it, and that is the way it is. The only revelation is what we see around—the human form now, certainly not a revelation of God.
At the crossover point between the undimensional realm and the dimensional realm there is present what is necessary to make possible the coming forth of the spirit of God in action in the heavenly substance which is available. It is already available. As we have noted, this point then represents undimensional God—God Almighty. Dimensional God is present rightly in the essences of the dimensional world—heaven and earth. Dimensional God is referred to as Jehovah. Jehovah becomes a reality on earth because of man—dimensional God is a reality on earth because of man. Without man in place dimensional God is not a reality on earth; hence the search for God on the part of human beings, and of course undimensional God is out of the picture altogether except in imagination.
So we are here to assume responsibility for the crossover point that belongs to us, as individuals and together, that the essences of heaven may be freely present and in union with the essences of earth. When this is so, the action of spirit occurs throughout all these essences and what rightly should happen springs forth into expression and manifestation—no sweat of the brow. From our standpoint it is simply the experience that counts, and as there is that experience then many things begin to emerge that were previously unknown—eye begins to see and ear begins to hear—because there is the substance present, the essences present, to make it possible.
