One Bright Day
from Symbols

I’m looking forward to the day when you’ll be the real thing — in form and manifestation, a Divine man or a Divine woman, fully revealed, giving complete expression to the essences of Being that should be revealed through you. But if I expected that complete revelation from you now, well I’d be disappointed, wouldn’t I? It isn’t there, so why should I act as if I expected it to be. I expect a little more of it to show up every day. Yes, I do — but I don’t expect the whole thing all at once. There may be times when it blossoms out rapidly and other times when it seems to come slowly — but I have to accept the substitute you if I ever hope to have the real You. Do I not? If I rejected the substitute you, do you think I’d ever know the real You, or have the real You to serve with me in our LORD’s service? No. Let the spirit work through the substitute that now is and see what happens to the form.
If you reject substitutes you reject yourself. If you reject substitutes you reject me. If you reject substitutes you reject everything, and there is nothing left but oblivion. Blessed ones, the right use of the substitutes, letting them be the means for the revelation of the true spirit, the real and genuine spirit, allows the substitutes to change. But we must treat the substitutes with love and care and consideration. If we say, “O, that’s only a substitute, I don’t care what happens to it” — well then you don’t care what happens to the spirit within it, and you’re not worshipping God, you’re not centered in Him. We do care! But still we must remain true to the truth, or the patterns of change in the substitute form will not conform more and more with the true spirit. The true spirit must be filling the form if the form is to change in form, that in season it may be what it ought to be.
This is the secret of healing, growing, illumination, progress — the right use of substitutes. The body of Jesus was a substitute — a substitute for the Body of God on earth, which was supposed to include every man, woman and child on earth — the body of Jesus was a substitute body. The real Body is the body of mankind as a whole, allowing the complete and adequate revelation of the fullness of Deity on earth. Yes, wherever we turn we are dealing with substitutes, going up or down, and unless we function correctly with substitutes they become less and less, further and further from what they ought to be, instead of nearer and nearer, more and more a revelation of the adequate spirit of God. So, what shall it be with you? Let’s rejoice in the symbols, the substitutes.
Your body is a symbol of You. How good a symbol? — well it’s the only symbol of You there is. If you treat it right it can become a better symbol. If you treat it wrongly it’ll be a worse symbol, and the moment it isn’t here, there is no symbol of You. And it is good to have a symbol You on earth until the real You could appear. Wouldn’t that be nice — for You to be made manifest on earth just once! Its been a long time, you know. You have not been made manifest on earth for a long, long time — upwards of twenty thousand years. Wouldn’t it be nice for You to be made manifest on earth once? O, you’ve had some symbols on earth, but they weren’t the adequate revelation of You. And when there is an adequate revelation of enough of You there will be an adequate revelation of God, and heaven and earth shall be One.
Let the spirit of the Living God be a reality in you on earth here and now, and let the full capacity of the symbol be used, and see what happens to the symbol — perhaps You Yourself might come out of heaven into the earth one bright day.

What words can I use to express my understanding of substitutes. For a long time I looked forward to the day when I, in this present body, would be a revelation and manifestation of Divine woman. I recognize that, even with the longing of my heart, it is not as yet complete in its manifestation. But I know that increasingly more is expected of me in true function of the Word. This present body, with its capacities, is what I have, and it is the means through which I reveal Spirit That I Am. This is My Truth; This is My Reality, and to think otherwise, or to even think that this form is only a substitute is erroneous. I also recognize that my body is only one part of the body of mankind as a whole, but I consider my part in it to be extremely important, which is to reveal God, Deity, on earth---letting the full capacity of this symbol be used moment by moment ALL TO THE GLORY OF THE ONE LOVED AND WORSHIPED FOREVER AND EVER!
