The Unbroken Heart Of God Is My Heart
The Unbroken Heart Of God Is My Heart

I would like to begin with a portion of a recent poem by Carol Travis that touches on central essences of divine manhood and womanhood. This poem is titled “Reunion” and speaks of the radiant uprightness of man, the sacred suppleness of woman and the return of the magic of the oneness thereof.
“How shall I greet you, my brother?
Who yet stands regal in the morning sun.
Strong home of my heart,
Whose truth no storm can sway,
Nor roots be swept away
in floods of tears.
Whose love remains
through all the swirling visions ...
And how shall I greet you, my sister?
Lithe as summer breezes
softly dancing,
lifting fragrant essences
sweetly in the evening ...
moving, shaping, weaving courtly magic.
Mistress of the temple’s holy art ...”
Beautiful words written from a beautiful heart. The poem speaks to the heart of manly integrity and womanly givingness and the bond of love and trust between the two. “My brother … who yet stands regal in the morning sun …”, whose uprightness is the true home of my heart, whose truth no storm can sway, and whose love remains through all the swirling of visions. … And my sister, “lithe and gentle as summer breezes …” whose sweet evening prayer reaches across oceans and heals the heart of Man.
What do words as these touch and evoke in us of a remembrance of who we are truly meant to be, of who we are in truth? “Strong home of my heart ...” As a man, do I hear the depth of longing in those words, in the deep heart of womankind, in the very oceans of the earth, in “my sister”, in the birds of the forest, in the grasses of the plains, longing to trust and be safe in trusting, to know a resting place in an immovable home of truth? And do I know that that voice calls to me, to remember my strength, my nobility, and a bond of deepest love and purpose that cannot be denied? And as a woman, do I hear the longing in those words, in the heart of Man, in “my brother”, for the return of the fragrance of heaven and sweet healing givingness, which is only mine to give? And do I know that voice calls to me?
Divine man, divine woman. Uprightness, innocence, a bond of undying trust. How much have the deeper cords of innocent trust broken in our own hearts and experience? The return of the divine on earth requires the restoring of deepest broken cords of love and trust. Once upon a time long ago a primordial cord of trust and love was broken in the earth. It broke first between mankind and God, then between mankind and nature and between man and woman. The shattering of this cord, this all permeating fabric and ecology of trust was the fall from the experience of grace and wholeness for mankind. Was there really such a fall? We can search our own heart. Has there been such a fall in our own experience? Such a tearing of the fabric of elemental trust?
Ultimately, the work of all who awaken to divinity on earth is the restoring of this elemental broken cord of oneness, trust and love—the reweaving of a deep fabric of divine home, family and ecology on earth. Those who see spirituality primarily in an organizational context can miss the primary spiritual point. Beyond all overlays of human translation, the invitation is for the rebuilding of a true fabric of divine home on earth.
How may each of us more fully participate in the restoring of this arc/ark of love? Primarily by no longer accepting the state of broken trust, cynicism and defeatedness in ourselves.
Regardless of what our experience has been in coming to this moment, in us is yet the full potential of being the divine sister and divine brother—“lithe as summer breezes, lifting fragrant essences,” and one “who yet stands regal in the morning sun,” and is the strong home of all innocent heart. As a man, does it help and strengthen me to know that my divine sister awaits, lonely, for my return? As a woman, does it help to know that my divine brother’s heart aches for the return of my sweet suppleness? As hard as it may be for many human minds and hearts to believe, untouched, beneath all our human brokenness, yet lies a bond of undying divine trust and love. This is the substance of heart of the Radiant One within. In some, this heart shows as but a seed of light; in others a crackling flame; yet in others, an inextinguishable radiant fire. May the prayers of all my sisters and my brothers stir ablaze and burst asunder the heavy doors of all discouraged hearts!
The journey of absolute radiance. Perhaps this is the best way to describe what lies ahead for each truly awakening one on earth in restoring this cord of trust. This journey is perhaps hardest to resume for those who walked it initially, then became disheartened or disillusioned. Yet, is there really an alternative even for those of such experience? Was there ever an alternative to those who once truly heard the prayer of unceasing trust of the heart of this planet calling? The prayers also of a true sister, a true brother? No, there never was an alternative. Thankfully, our own deepest hearts are more true than our despair. East of Eden, God planted a garden, and in it he placed Man and Woman, and gave them a true heart, of undying love and trust, that though in their youthfulness they might lose their garden and know despair, their one heart would call them home again—for He gave them His own true heart.
Out of the eons of human brokenness and despair, and from the depths of the earth is being summoned again that one immortal bond of trust and love. This is the rising—through all the atoms and oceans of this planet—of the one unbroken heart of God. Who will stand the rising of this absolute radiance, the emergence again on earth of this Christ and Buddha sun? Those who know in their own hearts the unbreakable love and trust which is of the same fabric as the rising radiance itself.
“Fear not for the passing of the world of despair, even if it means the passing of all things familiar, including the passing of human life as known. Know only your immortal heart, your unceasing trust, the sweet prayer of your sister that speaks in the wind and strengthens you, the truthfulness of your brother ‘whose love remains’ and is the home of your heart.” The journey of absolute radiance is the journey of the re-emergence of the character of God, of the deepest cord of our love and trust restored and expressed; it is the journey of union of earth and sun, Mother and Father God, heaven and earth. It is the journey of surrender of all brokenness, survival modes and self-preoccupations of that broken state. It is a journey that can be undertaken in love or in fear. Either way the journey is unavoidable; it is already underway.
Is it not our greatest possible pleasure to give the world our uprightness and radiance made flesh? How ignorant is human preoccupation with lesser values—success, comfort, security, being accepted, etc—or with reacting with fear and suspicion to the ill things round about. The world of the unreal is already passing away; neither does it need our help in passing away. In fact, it passes away the more quickly as our attention is given wholly to the increase of the atmosphere and character of God in our lives.
In the journey of absolute radiance, sometimes there appear to be off-ramp exits, parking lots, shopping malls, retirement villas, “I will be with you later” campsites, “I am really doing it in my own way” coffee stands, organizational charts, consensus concessions. These are illusions if they are held onto as substitute gods. How about obsessive concerns with wounds and the healing of them, or the legislating of quadruple ethics and organizational barricades to prevent them, while a finer and more delicate ecology of heavenly magic drains away leaving shells where once were temple homes? Tools of various sorts may be useful, but the heart of radiance lies not in them. It lies in the bond of re-membered trust and shared highest love between sacred brothers and sisters; it lies in that inner rising strength which releases all lesser gods so that this bond of love may be put first.
In the heart of the way of radiance is a seared humility before God. And that searing and that humility tempers the human character so that the finest currents of spirit can register and be perceived without distortion of frequency. Even now, the prayers of our truest sisters and brothers are calling in the wind. May we leave behind the cobwebs and lesser preoccupations of our yesterday, and with strong hearts answer those prayers through the absolute uprise of spirit in us. And may that uprise of spirit in us be a call to our own worlds to rise with us in remembrance who we truly are: noble brothers, whose uprightness of being is the strong home of all innocent heart, noble sisters, whose evening prayers reach across oceans and heal the heart of Man.

I love this, and I'm glad to have it republished today.
These words are most beautiful.
How simple it is to love one another when substitute patterns of escape and comfort are driven from mind and heart. A joy to be with you, Yujin.
