The Supreme Passion

The  Supreme  Passion

One Spirit Of The One Body Of The Son Of God

Martin Exeter   April 22, 1984 p.m.

This is the evening of Easter Day in Colorado, and we are gathered in the Dome Chapel on Sunrise Ranch for our evening service. I would welcome you who are present at Gawler in South Australia, early Easter Monday afternoon, to share our service in oneness of spirit. I provided this particular preamble for a reason. Clearly, it seems that there are many thousands of miles between us and, according to the time calculations current on this planet, we find ourselves in different days at different times. In the dimensional world, which occupies so much of our attention, there is a seeming separation dimensionally speaking, both from the standpoint of distance and from the standpoint of time. Nevertheless we are all keenly aware of being present together in this moment. Distance—the dimension of distance and the dimension of time simply dissolve in this awareness which we have. We immediately discover that we are sharing the experience which transcends dimension. We are out of the dimensional world in this sense because we have an immediate awareness of sharing the words which are being expressed in this moment and of consequently being together in this moment.

Here is the point of focus where we discover we are One in SpiritWe find ourselves in an undimensional realm of cause while we are still aware of the dimensional world of effects. We are at that elusive point which we have recognized as being a crossover point. [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/two-crossover-pointskarma.html] We find ourselves in the dimensionless heaven, aware of the dimensional earth. This may well remind us of where we, as human beings made in the image and likeness of God, belong. Is it not very vivid in our consciousness in this moment that, whether we are here in Colorado or there in South Australia, we are all together in the present moment?

The present moment is the only undimensional positioning where we may experience the reality of Spirit of the Son of God—the place of connection between the undimensional realm of cause and the dimensional realm of effects. Here the connection may be reestablished between heaven and earth in our consciousness. We become aware of the fact of it. We share it in this moment; it is a reality. Where did the thousands of miles between go? Where did the calculations of the calendar go? We are together in this present moment. We are together in spirit. We are aware, therefore, of the dimensionless realm of cause and the dimensional realm of effects, both at the same time. But we find that the dimensionless realm of cause is dominant.

We are together in this present moment, regardless of any dimensional factors that we may dream up. Here we find ourselves restored—not completely so perhaps in consciousness but restored to what might be called the position of the connecting link. Human beings have been wondering about the missing link. This missing link is supposed to connect the animal kingdom with man. The animal kingdom is already connected with man; I don’t think there is any missing link there. Vibrationally we find that we are associated with the animal kingdom in our very flesh bodies. The kingdom of vegetation also comes to focus in us, as does the mineral kingdom. Vibrationally speaking, they are all connected insofar as we are concerned. There is no missing link there.

The missing link has been in the other direction—the link which should be present between heaven and earth, so that there is a conscious awareness of the fact that heaven and earth are one. It seems, in a very practical sense this evening, that we have been restored to that particular position. We are together in the present moment undimensionally. Regardless of the miles between, regardless of the difference in the time and calendar, we are directly together in this moment because it is the present moment for all of us. And that is the connection between heaven and earth, the only point where the Spirit of the Son of God, may be known—the spirit of cause. As we stand together in this point then the realm of effects may reflect what is present in the spirit of cause. So it is that we have this particular and rather special opportunity together in this present moment. We are so accustomed to saying “this evening” or “this morning” or “this afternoon,” but for us it is just this present moment. Here is the connecting link which permits resurrection to occur.

As we noted this morning, [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/the-one-passion-martin-exeter-a.html] resurrection is not a momentary occurrence at some particular point. The resurrection of Jesus is thought of in terms of His emergence out of the tomb into the Garden. But that was merely the culmination of a cycle of resurrection which was initiated on earth at the time of His conception. We noted how this worked out in His personal experience in the way it did, because of the hardness of human hearts, not because it had to be that way. Those who think of themselves as Christians have tried to persuade themselves that it had to be that way. This is a way of avoiding the rather devastating sense of failure that is present in human hearts. The fact of the matter is that human beings have failed. If we are honest we will acknowledge the fact and not try to sidestep it or to use religious concepts to evade the issue. If we do not evade the issue, but accept responsibility, then we realize how important it is that we are experiencing in this moment the undimensional state of spirit—all of us together—the Spirit of the Son of God.

It is by reason of the Spirit of the Son of God that resurrection of the Body of the Son of God is possible. We share in this creative process by which the Body of the Son of God is drawn into form. This form which is appearing, the evidence of which may be easily seen, both in the Chapel on Sunrise Ranch and at Gawler, is consequent upon the acceptance into expression in living of the Spirit of the Son of God through those who are letting it be so. We are here, so presumably we have let it be so to some extent and the effect—namely the form of the Body of the Son of God—is beginning to appear. We do not have to try to convince ourselves of this fact if in our living the Spirit of the Son of God is finding expression. Then we know what the fact is.

You don’t have to believe something. If it is merely belief, that reveals the fact that we are not ourselves permitting the expression of the Spirit of the Son of God to be the quality of our own living. That is the only way that we can know the truth. So we share this responsibility of knowing the truth and participating in the resurrection of the Body of the Son of God—that has been referred to as the Son of Man—so that the Son of God may come forth freely in expression through His resurrected body.

This was the case insofar as the individual body of Jesus was concerned—that happened. Unexplainably, it happened. That happening, by reason of the hardness of human hearts at that time, followed the crucifixion. The crucifixion was not at all necessary to the resurrection. The hardness of human hearts laid that on Jesus. He accepted it; He didn’t quibble. He accepted with good grace what happened—certainly without complaint—in the recognition that factually, insofar as He was concerned as an individual, there wasn’t anything that could prevent the resurrection. It was a very painful way of proving it out—but the hardness of human hearts, at that time and since, established that requirement.

The resurrection, leading out of the crucifixion, has occurred. It doesn’t need to occur again. It’s been done that way. It is a different experience of resurrection with which we are concerned now. The truth that is present has not yet been seen for what it is. The resurrection provides a Body in which the Son of God may be incarnate. This is His Body taking form.

Recently a number have been quite concerned to allow a greater expression of spirit to come forth through themselves. You who are here present are anxious that there should be a freer expression of this creative spirit in living. There still seem to be a few blocks around, don’t there? All of us as individuals have found resistance to have been part of our human makeup. We all had hard hearts. The hardened heart has been in the process of being softened by the action of spirit when there was a willingness to express that spirit. Then the changes could begin to occur. If the heart was so hard that the individual wouldn’t allow anything of the spirit to come through, then there was no possibility of any constructive change. But to the extent that there has been such willingness, there have been changes. And a greater expression of spirit emerges through the individual.

The same thing exactly is true of the Collective Body of the Son of God. Because of what has been true of the individuals who compose that Body, there have been elements of hardness of heart present, and to that extent the Spirit of the Son of God could not come through His Collective Body. In times past, if there was anything that came through, it might have been described as dribbling through. More recently something has been occurring with greater power and effectiveness, so the light begins to shine in a more radiant way, in a more effective way, dissolving barriers and blocks so that the Spirit of the Son of God might emerge in a manner that had not heretofore been known. All who have been participating in this process are aware of this happening. We don’t try to believe anything—that would be fatal. All that needs to happen is to experience what it is that is going on, because we have exhibited a greater willingness to allow these blocks and resistances to be dissolved. And so the Son of God comes forth more particularly.

Let us consider for a moment what happened in the case of Jesus. Some have supposed that He was very exceptional, right from the word go. He was born in a manger and there was a brilliant and glorious light shining round about—and some who were in the vicinity were aware of this marvelous thing that was happening. Well we’ve all had some association with newborn babes, and there is something quite heavenly in that experience; something does shine round about. Anyone who is born into the world necessarily comes through human heredity. This was exactly true of Jesus, as it was true of anybody else; and there were many things, therefore, to be cleared insofar as this human form with its mind and heart was concerned. We hear very little about those early years in the record that has come down to us. There are eighteen years that are almost entirely a blank, from the age of twelve to the age of thirty. Why, do you think? Well, I don’t suppose there was anyone much who knew about it, or understood what it was that was happening. As with any of us, there was the necessity of coming through these patterns of human heredity, of letting them be cleared.

The clearing in the ultimate sense was described symbolically in the story of the temptations in the wilderness. It was only at that point that the adequate expression of the Son of God could emerge through that form, that mind, and that heart. This may seem like blasphemy to good Christians, but let us be practical. Let us understand the true state of affairs. Of what value would His experience have been to anybody else if somehow or other He had had a special dispensation? Of course this has been the view of many because it provided an excuse for subsequent generations of people to say, “Well it can’t be expected of me; after all Jesus was able to do it because He had this special dispensation.” He didn’t. Yet the Son of God came forth into expression when the decks were sufficiently clear for it to happen; and it certainly should be encouraging insofar as anyone else is concerned, all of us for instance.

So, we have been in the process of developing a greater honesty in our own willingness to allow the expression of this One Spirit to emerge with greater effect in our momentary living. As this has occurred to various degrees through various ones, the One Body of the Son of God has begun to put in an appearance, a Body increasingly capable of accommodating the Spirit of the Son of God in expression. There would be no Body at all if it weren’t for the Spirit of the Son of God. But what is required is that that spirit should be in expression, should have the opportunity of working creatively through the body, the One Body which is capable of accommodating that creative working of spirit.

There have been all kinds of holdups along the way. I’m sure we all know about that. We’ve seen it in other people: “Why doesn’t so-and-so get on the ball?” Well, why indeed? But one might ask the question, “Why don’t I get on the ball?” We’re the only one who can do it for ourselves and we certainly can’t do it for anybody else. Presumably we have been taking greater responsibility, thereby exhibiting a greater maturity; and the maturity is most essential if the Spirit of the Son of God is to come forth without distortion. After all, that spirit is a mature spirit. It needs a mature Body through which to appear: a mature body, a mature mind, and a mature heart—all of them under the control of the mature Spirit of the Son of God.

We have to relinquish our own personal ways and desires and expectations which are humanly assumed to be necessary for operating in the world. Jesus, with the expression of the Son of God, was quite capable of operating in the world. He handled everything very easily, a lot more easily than most of us have found to be the case for ourselves. How often have we been disturbed and confused and uncomprehending, just simply because of our own hardness of heart?—not because it had to be that way but because we insisted on making it that way, just as those who lived at the time of Jesus, in that particular pattern of things, insisted upon His crucifixion, insisted upon rejecting what He brought.

It is interesting to see that, although it was all rejected, nevertheless He moved right through into the experience of the resurrection. There wasn’t anything that could stop Him. I am sure that all of us, at one time or another, have seen insuperable barriers before us, all kinds of things that we imagined were capable of stopping us. “Oh! Nobody could come through this circumstance. Nobody knows what trouble I’ve seen!” There isn’t anything that can stop the creative action of the Spirit of the Son of God; but that fact remains unknown until there is a facility through which it may work. And that is a personal responsibility for each one. We have come to recognize that the facility is not merely an individual one, although it is an individual one because it is our individual acceptance of responsibility that allows the One Body to take form to provide the facility for the expression of the One Spirit of the Son of God. We have our individual parts to play, but those parts are contained in that One Body.

The One Body is in the process, the creative process, of experiencing resurrection. [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/glory-unto-glory.html] The Spirit of that One Body speaks and says, “I AM the resurrection and the life. There is no life, except through Me, through My Body.” Only as there is participation in that Body may the resurrection and the life be known to anyone. Some have tried to get a corner on it individually—but it doesn’t work that way. The resurrection and the life relate to the One Collective Body of many members. This requires that those who participate in letting that Body take form have a passion in that regard, a Supreme Passion, so that none of the commonly held human passions—some of them commendable and some of them reprehensible—are allowed to direct the way in which one goes: just this one passion, the passion which centers, first of all, in the One Spirit of the Son of God and in the consequent forming and working of the One Body of the Son of God. This is the Supreme Passion. In fact it is the only passion. To the extent that we share this passion there is the experience of the resurrection of this One Body. And we become aware, because we are a part of it, of what that resurrection is. We don’t have to theorize about it, we don’t have to develop any beliefs about it, but allow the experience of the reality to be known.

So it is that, whether in South Australia, or in Colorado, or anywhere else on the face of the earth, there are those who have an open door before them to participate in this One Body, which is being brought forth by the One Spirit of the Son of God. We ourselves, I trust, are included in that number, that there may be on earth the reality in expression, the reality of the One Spirit of the Son of God. Here is power and great glory. Here is the way, the truth, and the life. Here is all that is necessary for the fulfilment of the purposes of the Son of God on earth. Let these purposes be known to us because we ourselves participate in the expression of the Spirit of the Son of God through the Body of the Son of God on earth—the Body which we Love.

Peace be unto all those who are consciously present in this present moment, regardless of positioning on the face of the earth. This peace is known in the Body of the Son of God. Abide in that Body because all abide in the Love of the One whose Body it is.

As I receive these words in presence I know the reality of them.

As I do I recognize with honesty the necessity of meeting the 3 temptations within myself not by might or by trying rather by yielding to the Supreme Passion.

The Supreme Passion known in presence of the One Spirit of the Son of God as part of the One Body of the Son of God yielding to the resurrection power at hand for the greater works to be done.

Here is the experience of "my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
