Evening Session after the Afternoon Service for the

Ordination of Martin Cecil as Second Bishop

This is the record of the Evening Service

which followed the five hour Ordination Service on the afternoon of March 23, 1947,

when Martin Cecil was received into the Bishopric of the Church

and acknowledged as the Focalized Manifestation of the Spirit of Life

in the person of the Lord of the Sacred Two,

under decree of the LORD of Lords

 

Uranda — When you reach one goal, it is the starting point for a new cycle. Every achievement is but a new beginning. Now that we have reached this point, what shall we do with it?

Martin Cecil — I was just thinking that it has been two years since the Summer Session at Sylvan Dale, and there was an Ordination Service there at that time. Afterwards, those who were ordained conducted Services of half hour duration, and I believe mine was the first. Anyway, those who were there will recall that the river ran by just outside the chapel and we could hear the sound of the water all the time. I used that as a starting point for my period of expression, symbolizing the flowing Current of Life, particularly at that time as it manifested through the individual human being to bring health—and now we come to this time when we again consider the flowing Current of Life, but in relationship now to the One Christ Body, that it may have life and health. And just as we see pictured, in that the establishment of a cycle that has worked out and come to a point of fruition, so what is established today can work forward and come to its point of fruition in due season. And, as Uranda expressed it just now, each point of completion is a point of beginning where a new cycle can naturally come into manifestation. As we see these things work out in this instance, and many others, we may be assured that the final victory and accomplishment, and fruition of the ultimate goal to which our lives are dedicated will came. It was just those few thoughts that I felt the urge to express at this time. 

Uranda — I praise the Lord for your expression in the Current, and I surely agree with you that it is so; and as we all let each point of fulfillment become the inception of a new cycle of accomplishment, we find all the forces of the Cosmos back of us in the accomplishment which God ordained, and all that undertakes to oppose that fulfillment must necessarily crumble. As the stone was rolled away and our Lord came forth from the Tomb, so is the stone rolled away now, that all Responding Ones may come forth into a new expression of Life now, because the pattern is of the Truth rather than falsity—and vivid because the Current of Life is allowed to operate without those distortions which have brought suffering into the world. We know that as far as human beings are concerned, Love, as experienced by man, carries man to the highest height that he may know, but Love, misused, carries to the lowest depths. 

I was thinking how very appropriate it is that this fulfillment should in the Easter Season—in that Season when the world, or at least a portion of it, pauses for at least a moment to pay tribute to our Master’s victory over death. As He proved the Reality of Eternal Life, and as He instructed that we are to follow Him, He surely included that victory over death, that proving of the eternal nature of Life. He came that we may have Life and that we may have it more abundantly. He said: “And ye shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall set you free,” but though the Truth sets the individual free, that is not enough. What will the individual do with that freedom? Will he sell it for a mess of pottage and return to slavery, or will he utilize that freedom in the expression of Life—vivid, true and real—Life that glorifies the Source of Life, Life that in its expression brings victory over death and the things that lead to death. By the Truth men are set free. For what cause? That they may enjoy the glorious liberty of the Children of God, and that means the expression of Life as God intended that it should be. 

The Pattern of Truth is made available to all, but only as that Pattern is used in the expression of Life can it have meaning on earth. And so it is that this Easter Season has special significance for us and for all who will hearken to the Call: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest,”—rest from the self-activity that wearies the human being, rest from the self-activity that is the heavy burden which human beings try to carry in their own puny strength; for he who receives the Rest of the Lord, who enters into that Sabbath Rest, ceases from his self-active works and begins to let Life in its fullness, in its beauty, find expression, because such an one allows God to do the works. So it is that we follow Him. 

In my Ministry I have, when needful, painted with such words as I could find, although inadequate, the picture of man’s rejection of our KING, and of the ignominy which was heaped upon Him in His journey to the Cross, because I have felt that no matter how callous the world, there must surely be those in the world who will not let His sacrifice be in vain. He Who loved us and gave Himself for us is worthy of our Love. That disciple whom Jesus loved desired to inspire Love for the Master in others, that they, may share with Him the sacred joy of being loved by the LORD of Love. It is true that He loves all people, but so few receive that Love, and it is the receiving of the Love that counts. So many people in the world feel lonely and long for Love, and, following the human pattern, they struggle to try to get Love, as if they thought they could reach out and take it unto themselves, as if they thought they could put it in a cage and bring it forth for their own pleasure when and as they might choose, but that cannot be done with Love, and any imitation of Love with which it can be done is too poor a thing to satisfy.

If human beings could only realize that their loneliness, that their longing to be loved, is really the answer of the soul to the whispering Spirit of God, they would stay still long enough to hear the Message of the Spirit, that they might begin to know where to find Love. They would cease their frantic efforts, their struggling and their trying, and they would find that Love is offered to all who will receive. I think that tonight, more fully than ever before, you can appreciate the longing that has been in my heart, through the years, to share with you, and with all, the Joy that can come only in the receiving of Love from the LORD of Love. It is a blessed thing to share this joy of receiving Love from Him, and the more there are to share it, the more of His Love will appear on earth, and the more of His Love that finds expression on earth, the greater will be the manifestation of His Power. I have known people to act and speak as if they thought they were somehow doing me some special favor when they listened to the Word of Truth that I have offered to all, as if they were doing me some special favor in even pausing to consider the possibility of getting into line, so that they might receive the Gift of His Love. Why do I minister? First, because I love my KING, and, secondly because I love all those who love Him. 

Communion in Spirit and a sharing of that peace that is found in God’s Love fills us with Joy, and that communion in Spirit reaches forth to the ends of the earth. Perhaps gradually, but surely, there comes a Realization that in the true outpouring of the Spirit, when there is really a Radiation, distance, in any geographical sense, ceases to be a barrier; for those who are attuned in the Christ are privileged to share in the Spirit of the Christ wherever they are. Do you have any Realization you wish to express? 

Martin Cecil — Yesterday in the car, as we were driving along, I was speaking to Kathy of Peace. Now, when we are actually resting in Peace, I feel that it is a Current flowing, and when we experience the flow of the Current through ourselves, we are within the Kingdom of peace. It is not something that is static or meaningless. It is a living, pulsing, flowing Current which passes through the individual, and as long as he abides in that Current and is conscious of the flow of the Current, he is enfolded in Peace. In other words, he is abiding in the Kingdom of Peace—but, in order for the Current to flow through the individual, it has to reach through the individual first, as it were, and it has to pass through the periphery of the individual sphere, because the forward moving edge of the Current is not, from the standpoint of the unreal at least, peaceful, because it constitutes a sword, one might say, and there is a battle; and to the degree that there is response to the turmoil, there is disturbance and uncertainty. The Current passes through the polarized individual eventually, and moves on out into the world, so that something may be accomplished—but unless it is allowed to flow through the individual in the first place, it can never reach out into the world and accomplish something out there, so the necessity would be to remain steady and on the beam during the process of letting that Current carry forward through oneself and on out into the world. And when it moves on out, the battle is beyond, and the processes of accomplishment are carried on out there while the individual through whom the Current is flowing abides in the Kingdom.

Uranda — Very well put. The LORD of Love is the Prince of Peace, but He said: “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I come not to send peace, but a sword.” In other words, until the individual lets himself be a channel for the Peace of the LORD of Love, so that the cleansing Power of God is working in the range on beyond himself, he does not know Peace, even though he is in the Current of Peace. 

As the vibration has worked out thus far, I feel that the degree of co-ordination made manifest in this little hour of meditation and general radiation could be used as a starting point for a little focalized Radiation. In this instance I am not thinking of focalizations so much with respect to individual recipients of the Radiation as with respect to the Radiations themselves. The Master instructed that we should enter into the closet and shut the door and pray to our Father Who seeth in secret—and He assured us that the Father Who seeth in secret would reward us openly. The reward which is received openly is the result of Radiation. Let us harmonize in the Radiation of the Word into the world: 

“How long, how long, halt ye between two opinions?” “Ye cannot serve two masters.” “Now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation.” Let the irresistible Cords of Divine Love take hold in thy heart and in thy mind, thou Responding One, whosoever and wheresoever thou mayest be. Turn thy thought and attention from the world of turmoil. Refuse to let adversities fill thy thought and mind and feeling realm. Let go now to the LORD of Love, that the Power of Love may hold thee steady, while the Pattern of Truth is established in thee, while the Sword of Truth cuts asunder the bonds wherewith thou art bound, that thou mayest be set free to express the glories of Life in the Liberty of the Children of God. Let go of the things of the world and let go to the yearning of the Spirit—for the Spirit of Love would lift thee up, and the Spirit of Truth would set thee free, and the Spirit of Life would carry thee into the glorious Liberty of the Children of God. 

He who loves God, to whatever degree, cannot be lifted up thereby until he lets the Spirit of Truth set him free, and he who lets himself be set free must let the Spirit of Life cause him to begin to grow into the stature of Divine Manhood and Divine Womanhood. 

The LORD our God seeks those who will worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. All people everywhere, in any moment, are privileged to worship Him in Spirit, but Love Response to the LORD does not lift the individual into the expression of Life in Reality until the Sword of Truth is allowed to operate to remove the unreal; for if any were lifted up by the Spirit of Love while still conformed to the patterns of the unreal, the power to do evil would be increased, and the currents of destruction would be multiplied—for the Currents of Love and the Currents of Life, moving through the individual, bring into manifestation that which is shaped and molded by the pattern within the individual, and if it be the pattern of the unreal, the individual cannot be lifted up by the Power of Love, lest God should thereby defeat Himself. Therefore, there is one condition established unto all men that no matter how much they may love God or seek to function in the Love of God, they cannot be lifted up until they conform to the pattern of Truth, that they may then express the fullness of Life in the Liberty of the Children of God.

Therefore, all ye who hearken to the Call of the Spirit, give heed now and know that worshiping God in Spirit and Responding to Him in Love is of no avail unless you let yourselves be conformed to the Pattern of Truth, unless you let the Sword of Truth cut away the unreal. As you begin the journey upward, you are received of the LORD in the beginning with whatever burden of the unreal you may be carrying, but as you move upward, you must let the Sword of Truth operate—and if at any point along the way you cease to Respond to the Spirit of Truth, there, at that point, you cease to move upward, and from that point the Current that should bring Life, if it were allowed to operate through the Pattern of Truth, brings forth the fruit of the unreal, and the unworthy branch is cut off and cast into the Fire. Therefore, Respond in Love to God, let go to the irresistible Cords of Divine Love, but shrink not from the Sword of Truth by which thou mayest be set free from bondage to this world, that thou mayest be lifted up and, in the Ascending Current, find that expression of Life to which thou art ordained of the Living God. 

Peace be unto thee, now and forevermore, to the degree that thou dost let go in the Current of Peace, but that which is not in harmony with the Peace of God is not comfortable or at peace in the Current of Peace. Therefore, let the Sword of Truth cut away that whereby thy discomfort is made manifest, that thou mayest truly relax and rest in the Peace of God eternal; for in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, it is established unto each one, now and forevermore, In the Christ. Aum-en. 

It seems strange to me that as much as the Master said about it, the people who claim to have loved Him should still think that they can carry the baggage of the unreal into the Kingdom. He set at the Gate an Angel with a Sword which turns every way, and though they Respond in Love to Him and come to the Gate, they cannot get in until they let go of the burden. 

Whether it is still in existence or not, there used to be in the wall of the old Jerusalem a gate which was called the “Gate of the Needle’s Eye.” It was a small gate, intended primarily for people on foot, and in the olden days when night came, and the gates of the city were closed, the only remaining entrance into this city through the wall was the “Gate of the Needle’s Eye.” When a traveller came in with his camel, after the gates were closed, he could not go through the “Gate of t he Needle's Eye” with his pack on his back. If the camel was to go in, he had to be relieved of his burden and get down on his knees to go through the Gate. The Master used that basic fact as an illustration. Human beings have to relinquish their burdens of the unreal before they can get through the Gate. He said it is easier for a camel to pass through the “Needle’s Eye” than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Ordinarily, human beings have thought that was a rather extreme or impossible thing, but He was talking about the “Gate of the Needle’s Eye” and He did not mean people just rich with money, but those who were wise in their own eyes, who thought they knew a great deal—those who thought that they knew better than the LORD what they should take into the Kingdom—but those things which are not of the Kingdom cannot be taken into the Kingdom. I am very thankful that that is true. Otherwise, if the devil could, he would turn Heaven into hell. The devil and all of his angels were cast out of Heaven. He has been trying ever since to get back in, but it does not work. I have seen a lot of people try it, but I have never known one to get past the Gate. 

I am going to change the subject just a little, but I think that after today and our meditation and radiation tonight, perhaps a point that I have sought to clear many times with different ones can be seen more readily. In checking back, I think you will find that whenever you have expressed according to the Truth, I have been quick to agree with you and to express that agreement. Back through my Ministry I have been under the necessity of seeking to inspire others to express agreement with the point of Truth that I may have presented in a Service. I have asked for expressions at various times and I have had human beings interpret that asking as if I were seeking some sort of approbation or desiring to be commended in some fashion, or patted on the back. I know what the Truth is and I do not have to have human beings tell me what the Truth is, but if we are to work according to that principle in all of its Triangles and Cycles, as well as in the basic Triangle, we have to remember that where two of you agree on earth as touching anything—when you express that with which I may properly agree, as I said, I think you have always found that I have been quick to express that agreement, not just to encourage you, although perhaps that was part of my intention, but in order, at those points of progress, to establish a base of a Triangle which, if the point could be maintained, would begin to produce a Creative Cycle.

So my thought is that perhaps now after the thing has carried through to the present point of focalization, you will understand why, the true reason why, I like to have expressions of agreement from you on the points of Truth presented. If you just agree in Spirit, that may help some, but it needs to be the expression of the Word—though the expression of the Word is of little avail if the point that you so establish is not maintained. We have the two primary points of the Triangle made manifest now—that is, the two outer points in the primary sense, but agreement there is not enough. Every individual has an opportune to function with respect to a Triangle, and if that Triangle is held steady in its points of polarizations, the Creative Cycle is established, and if polarity is held steady, the Cycle is fulfilled. The particular advantage to human beings in having the basic triangle made manifest is this: The individual who is Responding and moving along the Way or seeking to Serve God is never without an opportunity to function as the point of a Triangle made manifest. If there is any expression of Truth according to the pattern of Truth, and if that expression be polarized in Love Response to the LORD of Love, then there is a manifestation of two points of a Triangle waiting to be used by any individual at any time in manifestation, and he or she can be the third point, and then it is a foregone conclusion that the other Point of the Basic Triangle is in agreement, but if there is an expression of recognition or agreement on the part of the one who hears the Word of Truth or Life expressed by either manifest point of the Basic Triangle, then there is automatically established in that instant another Triangle which, to the degree that it is maintained, permits the inception of a new Cycle which shall find fulfillment in the life of the individual, and through the individual to all who will Respond. In that you can begin to appreciate something of the meaning of Ezekiel’s vision concerning wheels within wheels. Does that make the point any clearer? The Basic Triangle would not be any good if there were not those who make innumerable other triangles in relationship to it. 

Every individual who Responds, to the degree of Response and polarization and agreement on earth, letting the Current work properly, provides a focalization into new world vibrations and Currents where the Truth can begin to transform and the Life may begin to manifest. That is one of the reasons why letters of Response have been encouraged in the Service, because it gives the individual an opportunity to agree on earth as touching these things. While in the past the individual could not be so conscious of the actuality of the triangles, he had to be sufficiently attuned to function from an Inner standpoint to make his agreement effective, but now, while it has to be real and genuine and polarized in Love Response to the LORD, the fact that the Triangle in its completeness can manifest at any time at any point out there in the world makes it easier for the individuals who agree to begin to be really effective in meeting every conceivable condition. So it is not so much what is done by those who are responsible for maintaining those two Basic Points, although that is important—but, for the individual that importance can become real only to the degree that he or she permits the manifestation of a third point to form a Triangle, and to the degree that that point is held constantly, the Cycle must begin to work, and when it works, it is greater than the power of this world.

Martin Cecil — Letters of Response—what were supposed to be letters of Response have not always been in agreement. 

Uranda — If they were not in agreement, they were no good, unless they were ready to move toward agreement. One of the things some have not been able to see is why they should come into agreement. They have tried to remain in disagreement and still come into the Kingdom, and it does not work.

Grace Van Duzen — Then that expression: “In Expression there is Release,” has a deeper meaning than just release. It releases the wheels within wheels and releases the greater cycles. 

Uranda — It lets the wheels start turning. And so, judging from the Spirit, I would say that we are truly in agreement. Have there been any outstanding Realizations that you have had today that you have not given focalization in expression? 

Kathy Meeker — You spoke the other night of the confusion, seemingly, when this world was first created, so that things looked as though nothing constructive could come out of it; and in this process of re-creation which we are enjoying, it seamed at times that there was so much chaos that it was almost impossible for anything worthwhile to come out of it, and yet in the midst of it we are seeing something marvellous taking form. 

Grace Van Duzen — I could not help thinking about the sense of the beginning of things—I mean of the fulfillment of prophecy and the two olive trees and the candlesticks. It is just like beginning at the cross again and moving on from there. It is just as if things were at the beginning with no precedent, and just the new creation to be completed. 

Uranda — That is a very good point, Grace. And it shows how cautious human beings ought to be with respect to jumping to conclusions, because we are beginning to bring into formation that which should have been made manifest immediately following the Master’s Ascension. So it is in one sense going back, or in another sense it is making those two thousands years be, as far as we are concerned, as if they had not been. We are moving out in a new creation where, in the experience of human beings as they know it, there is no precedent. It is a new creation, “Behold, I make all things new,” and only as human beings are willing to let things be made new can they have a part in that creation. That is very good. 

Changes move in the directions of Response, and no one can stop the changes, no matter how he tries, but he can determine the results of the changes by the direction of his movement. As the Response of the individual lets him hold steady, so that his function gradually conforms to the Pattern of Truth the changes that take place have to conform to that Pattern, and he is healed, whether physically, mentally or Spiritually. 

Martin Cecil — As we move forward from the Cross, it is not human strength that is going to keep the creative wheels rolling. That has been tried. 

Uranda — Nor is it human vision which is going to determine now the wheels should manifest.

this is the beginning portion of the

Ordination Service for Martin Cecil

March 23, 1947   12:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

We have been having what I would call a re-focalization of the Summer Session, covering many points, and we have made wonderful progress; but coming down to this hour together there are still quite a number of things that I would like to bring out as part of the work of focalization and as a means of providing what I would call background. The beauty of any gem is greatly enhanced by its setting. A wrong or inadequate setting always detracts, and if this that we undertake is to have true meaning in the outworking of the Cycles of God’s Will on earth it must have that setting, not just for the purposes of appearance but for the purposes of practical fulfilment. So completing the focalization to the highest possible degree and providing the background or the setting, is of vital importance. I think that with this outline of my intentions you will the better understand what we are seeking, in our unification, to accomplish. 

This morning Martin and I were considering some of the principles of the Creative Cycles by which these Cycles are made manifest on earth, that as man harmonizes with those Cycles he may become a revelation of the Power of God on earth. When Martin was in Colorado about a year ago we were considering some of these same things, and he mentioned this morning that in our deliberations at that time we took note of the fact that the period of the Age—2,156 years—is naturally sub-divided into ninety-eight 22-year Cycles. Up to that time the consideration of the sub-cycles within the scope of the Age had not received a great deal of attention, because we were working from the standpoint of establishing a focalization on earth of the One Body, or the One Vine, by which such things might begin to have meaning, and while we did not have an opportunity to develop the point this morning, I did a little checking. 

We remember that the Age in which the Master lived and ministered began in 388 B.C. That carries the period of that Age to 1768, and we recognize that this present Age began in 1768. Since the beginning of this Age, calculating on the basis of the 22-year cycles, we find that there were exactly seven and one-half such cycles leading up to the time of the beginning of my Ordained Ministry. From 1768 to 1933 is exactly seven and one-half 22-year periods. You will recall that my official Ministry began in September of 1932, which is virtually the beginning of 1933, and the effect of that Ordination really did not begin to manifest until 1933. Eleven years from 1933 bring us to 1944, which means that there have been eight 22-year periods from the beginning of this Age until 1944. We all know of the Session of 1944 and the changes that took place at that time, and the new Cycle of outworking on the absolute basis of Reality which began at that time. From the point of my Ordination to the point of the world entrance into the King’s Chamber, on the basis of the Great Pyramid calculations, was four years, and we recognize that in 1936 came the first great expansion of this Ministry. We are now at a point exactly eleven years later, living in 1947. 

I do not think that I will take time this morning, or today, to develop all the phases of significance that I see in those mathematical facts, but I focalize them as a background of recognition and consideration in relationship to certain of those things which we need to bring into focalization for background in moving toward a recognition of the wonderful way in which God is fulfilling His promise and making possible the accomplishment of the greater works. 

At the Center, the Creative work of God must be carried on. We have had a considerable outline in focalization, of the necessities of that which is required that the true Creative work may manifest. To the degree that the human element that is involved lets itself be harmonized with the Divine on the basis that is outlined, the human being begins to be a means by which God may reveal Himself on earth. Jesus revealed God on earth. We are supposed to follow Him; that is, to so function that God may reveal Himself through us individually and collectively. Therefore, in connection with the focalized outworking today, I think it is both proper and needful that we should consider the processes of Creative activity. Briefly, we might review that which we have considered together many times, the principles made manifest in the story of Creation, as portrayed in Genesis.

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” There we see the first step in the Creative process. We remember that the Four Forces are water, air, earth and fire—and some of you, at least, have a background of realization as to what those words signify. Perhaps, to focalize the matter, I should deal with this point briefly, because there is a tendency on the part of some to feel that these words in themselves are rather poor names for the four primary Creative forces. 

We recognize that water is the symbol of Truth, that air is the symbol of Spirit, that earth is the symbol of that which is acted upon, and that fire is the symbol of the force which permits action to be possible. That which is acted upon is of necessity a force, and is a requisite to Creative Activity, because Creative Activity with nothing to act upon would not be true Creative Activity. So we have water, air, earth and fire. These things are presented in this order for a very important reason. That is the order of their working in order to bring forth—what? Life. 

From the standpoint of the first act, or the first function with respect to the Creation of this world, we have the Spirit of God moving upon the face of the waters, which is to say the Water of Truth. Then we have the manifestation of Light in connection with that movement. On the second day there was the division of the waters from the waters and the establishment of the firmament, or the place where the air of the Spirit functions. The division of the waters from the waters means the establishment of the positive and negative phases of being, so that there would be a manifestation of the Truth with respect to the positive aspect and a manifestation of the Truth from the negative aspect, and within these two aspects we have the manifestation of the Spirit. Next, on the third day the dry land appears. On the fourth day the atmosphere cleared to the degree that let the Light from the sun and moon and stars reach the earth, carrying the vibration of fire. Now we recognize here, when we are approaching this thing from a theoretical standpoint, that we have to prove a point and that is, the consistency of the function with respect to this order. We know that it works that way but nevertheless, let us take note. 

If the order is absolute, then the first day of the next cycle of four days should again bring into manifestation the function according to the first force, or water, because there would have to be a repetition of the cycle after you have completed the four. The next step would have to be keyed with respect to water. So on the fifth day God said, “Let the waters bring forth abundantly”. On the sixth day God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so”. Now we are getting into the more detailed or, from an outer standpoint, complicated manifestation of the Creative Activity, and a limitation of human vision might lead to a false conclusion—but with respect to these living creatures that function on the face of the earth, what is the one thing that they cannot do without for more than a few seconds? Air. So these things brought forth on the sixth day, including man himself, are primarily keyed to air. He can go longer without anything else than he can without air. Let us, then, turn to another story as it is revealed here in the Book of books. 

Sometimes human beings imagine that they have the greatest troubles in the world and they imagine that someone else does not have many troubles. I have never met the individual yet who did not have troubles, who did not have problems to work out, necessities of function to carry through. We remember that Elijah was one of the three that are mentioned in the Bible as having carried through to the point of ascension. “And Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him”. Enoch was the first to ascend, according to the legend; the second was Elijah, and the third was the Master Jesus Himself. Three who ascended in the whole story of the Bible—and that is significant, because it is the trinity of the body and mind and Spiritual expression that must ascend in oneness with things Divine if we are to function as we should. 

But consider Elijah, one of those who, during his ministry had many difficulties and yet came to the point of ascension. I would read to you a story from the 19th chapter of 1 Kings. “And Ahab (which symbolizes the outer mind) told Jezebel (which symbolizes the emotional realm of the individual) all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword. Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time. And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there”.

I have often wondered, from the standpoint of principle—not that it does any good to speculate about the past—what would have happened if Elijah had not slipped at that moment, and had sent back a word to Jezebel that he was very pleased to let her word be fulfilled. She had said, “Let God do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time”. But it seems that even Elijah had a tendency to forget that the Lord required firmness in dealing with Jezebel. Man has always been so inclined to go to almost any extreme rather than to bring some kind of a contest into manifestation with a woman! 

So Elijah “went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers. And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat. And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again. And the angel of the Lord came again the second time, and touched him, and said. Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee. And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God. And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?” 

Whenever the human being tries to run away from the necessities of Service to God and man, he comes either to destruction or, if he should become still enough he hears the word, “What doest thou here?" The only place where we may properly be is where the Lord directs us to be, that we may let His Will be done on earth. But now, in these verses, we have a revelation of something great and glorious, something that is of vital importance to us here and now. I mentioned to you a little while ago the Creative forces by which the world was brought forth, which are the same forces by which we must let the Will of God be done on earth now. We see here in Elijah a symbol of those individuals who are seeking to follow the Lord and yet, because of a wrong reaction to Jezebel, the human feeling, emotional realm, have gotten off the course. 

It must be our function in the world to help all those who have gotten off the course. We must be on earth a revelation of Deity. In this case, Elijah was able to perceive and comprehend directly that which the Lord did, and he could hear, but it is not so for the mass of those who would turn to God, those who feel that there is no way out, and no way in. So in this we find a great secret with respect to the manifestation of our true Ministry on earth, for we must be the means by which this same word my reach those who are off the course, those who are willing to listen. Those who will not listen must be allowed to go their own way to their own doom, but when there is a stilling that will allow a hearing we must be ready to Serve. 

Notice the revelation here that God gave to Elijah. Elijah was instructed to go forth and stand on the Mount before the Lord and then behold, the Lord passed by “and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice”. What do we notice here that is extremely significant? We have an outline of the three forces without beginning at the point of the water. We have the wind which brake in pieces the rocks but the Lord was not in the wind; we have the earthquake but the Lord was not in the earthquake; we have the fire but the Lord was not in the fire; and we have the revelation of these forces in the same order in which they were utilized in Creation, but how is it that man does not know how to function in relationship to these Cosmic Forces? 

It is because he has lost his contact with the Truth, the first one of those Forces which must be used. So the final point of contact which must be used was revealed at the end—the still small voice which was the Voice of Truth, and it was the Voice of Truth which set man back into position in relationship to the proper workings of the Currents of the Power of God as they manifest on earth. So it is revealed to man that this still small voice of Truth is, and must ever be, the starting point for his re-orientation, that he may be put back in place in harmony with God and the working of the Creative Forces. That is a vitally important point which we should ever remember if we are to serve effectively, but there are other important points here that reveal why it is that man has found his efforts to be so futile, in his effort to live a Spiritual life, or to function according to what he thinks to be God’s Will. 

When there is a strong wind—and remember that the wind is a symbol of the Spirit—man imagines that God is in that wind; man imagines that God is in that Spirit, but the Lord is not in that Spirit, in that sense. The Spirit is the expression of the Lord; it is that which Radiates from Him. It is important, and one of the great Creative Forces, but that Force is not the Lord—and yet human beings have tried to act as if that was the Lord, and that is not true. The same thing is true in relationship to the earthquake. Man has tried to function as if he thought the Lord was the Power or Force by which the subject is acted upon. That Force is of the Lord, but it is not the Lord, and to try to worship that Force is not worshipping the Lord. So, likewise, with the fire, because that fire, though it is of the Lord, is and carries that which is a revelation of the Lord in many ways, is not the Lord, in the sense that they are indistinguishable. 

So our primary point is to find our orientation with the Lord Himself, and that is achieved by reason of listening to the Word of Truth—and then what is the message of the Word of Truth as portrayed in the Bible today? “Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins”. Therefore, when we are re-oriented on the basis of the Truth, then we are automatically at the place where the Forces may begin to operate in our lives; but until these things are realized, and that re-orientation becomes a fact, all the human ideas as to what the Will of God is on earth are so much nothing developed by the fancy of the human mind. Always, until that takes place, even the good people who seek to serve the Lord are running away from Jezebel—the wrong reactions in the feeling realm that are portrayed by Jezebel. So we have seen in our day, many individuals run back into the darkness of the world because they were trying to run away from Jezebel. We have already noted that Jezebel’s word was just right so that she could have been dealt with just right, if Elijah had stood his ground, because she said, “Let the Gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time”. So our position with respect to Jezebel—and I do not care where Jezebel may manifest, in man or woman—is not to run away from it but to let it be as they have said, because we do not run away from Jezebel. 

So in this we begin to find what it means to let the Cosmic Currents work through us in true Creative function. This is of vital importance to us today, and in the days to come, because of the significance of the developments which have taken place in the manifestation of the Will of God on earth. I think you will find that, while I have never dealt with it from this standpoint of the Creative Triangle until I could focalize it in that Center by reason of which these Forces may begin to be made manifest in actual working according to the Will of God on earth regardless of all the Jezebels in the world, regardless of all the Ahabs or anything else, but that we may left these Four Forces move forward in the Creative work to which we are called—because they do work, just as certainly, just as surely, today as they did when the world was first created. 

Now the purpose of the operation of these Four Forces is what? That Life may manifest. The Master said, “I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life”, and He said, “I come that ye might have life and that it might be an abundant life”, and He said again, “that your joy might be full”. The only way that joy can be full is in the expression of the abundant Life in harmony with the Way or the Will of God, which is to say that it must be in harmony with the LORD of Lords and KING of Kings, and permitted to function in harmony with the Four Forces, that the works may be done, that the real Creative Activity may become an actualized fact.

This is the latter portion of the record of the five-hour afternoon Service,

when Martin Cecil was Ordained as Second Bishop of the Church of Emissaries of Divine Light

We begin to find what it means to let the Cosmic Currents work through us in true Creative function. This is of vital importance to us today, and in the days to come, because of the significance of the developments which have taken place in the manifestation of the will of God on earth. We may let the four Forces (water, air, earth, fire) move forward in the Creative work to which we are called—because they do work, just as certainly, just as surely, today as they did when the world was first created.

Now the purpose of the operation of these four Forces is what? That Life may manifest. The Master said, “I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life”, and He said, “I come that ye might have life and that it might be an abundant life”, and He said again, “that your joy might be full”. The only way that joy can be full is in the expression of the abundant life in harmony with the Way or the Will of God, which is to say that it must be in harmony with the LORD of Lords and KING of Kings, and permitted to function in harmony with the four Forces, that the works may be done, that the real Creative Activity may become an actualized fact.

To the degree that these things are properly recognized and realized the significance of a certain paper that is being released to the School [on February 23, 1947] will be more readily comprehended—and I would like to read to you A Morning Star.

“We have moved to establish the focalizations of the Creative Triangles in the earth as a Reality, that the Creative Cycles may effectively transcend the limitations of physical circumstance, and begin to shape and mould that form which the Will of God ordains on earth, that all who will may see and know and understand the Power and Reality of the Living God…

“The focalization of the Spirit of Life, coming into manifest expression through and at the Head of that Form established according to the Pattern of the Spirit of Truth, moving under the Power of the Spirit of Love, provides the means for the intensified function of the Creative Triangle on earth, by which Resurrection from darkness into the Light may cause the Restoration to become a Reality.

“I take this means of announcing to you that under the blessing of the KING of Kings, the ordination of the second Bishop of the Church of the Emissaries of Divine Light shall soon be an accomplished reality … The focalization of the Spirit of Life, made manifest in the person of Martin Cecil, soon to be ordained a Bishop of the Church, makes possible the next great step in the fulfillment of the Cosmic Plan, in the Cycles of the Creative Triangles, by reason of which the Service of the Lord on earth shall be caused to increase...

“In the first processes of Creation, the Morning Stars sang together, and all the Sons of God shouted for Joy. So let it also be now in the Restoration—where the Spirit of Life, working through the Pattern of Truth by the Power of the Spirit of Love, shall surely accomplish that whereunto he is sent, to the Glory of God and the blessing of all the children of men, IN the Christ. Blessing you in the Holy Name of the LORD of Lords and KING of Kings, and continuing with you in Spirit that you may worship God in Truth.”

Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

“Declare if thou hast understanding”—and anyone who cannot answer that question does not have understanding. He may have a degree of understanding but not full understanding, and full understanding is necessary to tie absolute function of the Will Of God on earth. Now, holding that vibration, these focalizations, we will have a short recess, and continue with our third phase.

Introducing this third phase of our Service this afternoon, I think it is fitting that I should give a brief outline of the structure or form, pattern of formation, which is coming into manifestation with respect to the Church of the Emissaries of Divine Light, by reason of which we may have, step-by-step, a manifestation of that machinery, that Divinely ordained and established machinery, by which we may accomplish that work to which we are called.

It is according to the Cosmic Plan, and I will deal more fully with this point a little later, that there should be two Bishops of the Church, together with their Ordained Point of Focalization. Next there will be brought into manifestation as rapidly as developments permit, response and coordination make it possible, twelve elders who shall serve in positions of authority with respect to the Church, below, or under the direction of the Bishops of the Church. The twelve elders will be individuals, or men, who are married, who have the blessing of a wife who is truly coordinated with them in the Service of our King. There are a few in the School at the present time who are nearing that point where, as they continue on, I anticipate that they shall be ordained to the position of elders of the Church—but there will only be twelve elders, who with their wives, will make the four and twenty. We recognize, of course, the regular ministers of the Church, but between the manifestation of the elders and the level of function represented by the regular ministers of the Church there will be another formation which we anticipate will be called the Council of Seventy. The Master ordained and sent forth, at one time, seventy disciples and he, at that time, established and set up the cycle which we shall utilize in this regard.

Therefore, from the standpoint of the structure of the Spiritual phase or activity of the Church, there will be, first, the two Bishops with their Focalization; secondly, the twelve elders which make the four and twenty; next, the Council of Seventy; next, the regular ministers of the Church who may, and we pray God will, manifest without number; and finally the membership of the Church. This is only a brief outline so that the pattern which is being formed may be recognized, in principle at least.

Now we return to a consideration of those things that are focalized directly in the purpose of our Service this afternoon. In the 18th Chapter of Matthew, in the 19th Verse, we have a record of something that our LORD and Master stated while He was on earth—but before I read that to you let me focalize this point that it may be clear in your consciousness. We see in His statement, “I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life”, the manifestation of that Creative Triangle by which fulfilment should appear on earth. I have been waiting, ministering, that this day—and that which it sees coming into manifestation—might appear, and these are the words to which I had reference a moment ago: “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my father which is in heaven”. We have come to the beginning of the manifestation of the first period since the Master spoke those words when they might have fulfilment. The world at large has not understood those words. Human beings, functioning self-actively, have tried to arbitrarily make that promise find fulfilment, but that word applies, in its primary essence—and must apply there first before it can apply in any other direction—to the two who are the Representatives of the LORD on earth.

In the 11th Chapter of Revelation we find the word: “I will give power unto my two witnesses”. These are the two olive trees and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. We will not undertake this afternoon to develop that point more than to establish a recognition of the fact that in this connection it is recognized that the God of Heaven is the God of Earth, but it is in the earth that He is not recognized, and so as far as we are concerned the God of the earth, with respect to the manifestation of the One Christ Body on the earth and the building of that Temple not made with hands, is the LORD of Lords and KING of Kings, the LORD of Love who was and is the Way, the one and only Way—and according to the Cosmic Plan there were to be two witnesses before Him, represented by the two olive trees or the two candlesticks, which would provide on earth the focalizations of the Spirit of Truth and the Spirit of Life through which the Spirit of Love might operate in accomplishing the Will of God on earth, for we recognize that God's works cannot appear on earth except through the instrumentality of human beings.

If, through my Ministry, it has been recognized that I have provided, and do provide, a focalization of the Spirit of Truth on earth, so likewise do we come to the point where we are privileged to recognize that the Lord has provided a focalization of the Spirit of Life on earth, in conjunction with the manifestation of the Christ Body, that we might have a manifestation on earth of the two witnesses, and concerning those two witnesses. He said, “Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven”. We see the manifestation of these two witnesses in relationship to the third point on earth here, which is the Christ Body made manifest, so therefore to the degree that there is a true manifestation of the Christ Body on earth and there is representation of the God of the earth through the two witnesses so that the Current of Creative Power that we speak of as Divine Love may operate with respect to the Pattern of Truth and the bringing forth of Life, we have a manifestation of that Creative Triangle by which the Creative Cycles may begin to really work on earth, and it is because of this that I took time in the second phase of our Service to clarify for you something of the working of the four Forces in relationship to the Creative work of God on earth. There we considered the four Forces by which that Creative work may be done; here we considered the means by which those four Forces may be caused to operate in the accomplishment of God's Will on earth.

During this period in which we have been privileged to have Martin Cecil here in person we have been working out many things. As he and I have considered these various factors, we have come to agreement so that we agree on earth as touching certain things, some of which I have already mentioned to you without making reference to this fact that I bring to your attention now—such as for instance, to illustrate, the structure of the Church manifestation—and in the outworking of the Will of God on earth we have the revelation that was made manifest through our LORD and KING which, as you know, I have always considered carefully, and I have reminded you of all the things that He has said. I have brought His words often to your remembrance, and assisted you to understand the Spirit and the Truth of His Word, so that our Master is not One Who is far away for you, but you have been drawn near unto Him, and you have let Him draw near unto you. As this outworking of Ministry has been coming into manifestation you have, more and more, had opportunity to begin to become acquainted with the one who has been called of the Lord to share in the work of the Bishop of the Church, and you know of his absolute devotion to our King, you know of the fulness of his dedication to the Service of our King, and you know that he, in all things, is considerate of the Word and of the Plan—yea, and of the Commandment of our King—and it is because of this that I deem it a Holy privilege and a joy to welcome him to the place of sharing in the work of the Bishop of the Church.

Heretofore, the fulness of many things which our Master promised has not been possible to us because we had not yet fulfilled the necessities of the Plan whereby we might know the outworking of the promise. As the One Christ Body came into manifestation during the Summer Session, it is not strange that the Herod of the outer mind, manifesting in certain ones, has sought to destroy it and to declare that it was dead. Herod thought he had killed the Babe of our Master on earth—but he did not—so is it likewise today, that those who have declared that that Babe is dead, again project upon the screen of outworking events that which Herod projected long ago, and just as Herod deluded himself so is that idea a delusion today, for that Christ Body is not dead, but very much alive, and It is growing in the strength of our God and under His Blessing. Just as there were those in that day who questioned the birth, and the manner of birth, by which our Master came into the world, just so has it been today with respect to the birth of the Christ Body on earth—but that Body is a Reality, in which we Rejoice and praise God.

Now we have the next step in the fulfilment of the plan as our Master outlined in the long ago, that the Divine machinery for the accomplishing of the Will of God on earth might be made manifest, that by this fulfilment there might begin to be on earth an answer to His Prayer. For myself, I can think of no greater privilege or sacred opportunity than is granted to those who share in the processes of letting the Lord’s Prayer be answered on earth—and the Master said, speaking only to those who should be true members of His Body on earth, so that being members of His Body they might speak in His Name, “Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” and “if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in Heaven”. There in that verse is the simple, direct outline of the operation of the three points of the Creative Triangle.

With respect to ordination, we recognize that only God can ordain, and that only those who respond to the Call of the Spirit, so that they begin to worship God in Spirit and in Truth, can be established in those places of responsibility to which they are called in the outworking of the Cosmic Plan. As I represent our Lord and King, I am privileged to welcome into the focalized expression in His Service, the one whom He has called and ordained already to represent Him—that is to represent the LORD of Lords—that being ever attuned to our King we may let His Will be done and that, coming into attunement on earth as touching all those things essential to our decision, we may cause His Will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven, that His Kingdom may truly come, that His Dominion over the earth may be established, and that His supremacy over all the powers of evil may, in season, be made known according to the outworking of His Will.

Therefore, in ordination, my work is to acknowledge the ordination already established of the LORD of Lords, and to welcome my Brother in Service, and likewise to acknowledge him before you as representatives of the One Christ Body and of the membership of the whole Church of the Emissaries of Divine Light, that he may likewise be recognized by all who Serve with us—that the Way, the Truth and the Life may be fully revealed to the children of men, that all who will may hear the call, “Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins”, for they who are partakers of the sins of Babylon receive the reward of the prince of this world, which is death. But the Prince of Peace has sent one to Minister with me in the Way, that all who hear the Word and truly obey, so that they worship God in Spirit and in Truth, all who actually respond to the call, “Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins” may, at the hand of my Brother in Service, begin to receive more fully of the Gift of Life, for God is not willing that any should perish but that all should have everlasting Life.

And so it is that as I have come unto you bearing the Gifts of the Truth, he is sent of the LORD of Love to bear the Gifts of Life to those who respond to the LORD of Love, according to the Pattern of Truth, that in the Cycles outworking all things may work together to perfection to glorify our God and to bring blessing to all who Love and Serve Him, according to His Will, according to His Calling, according to His Purpose, and so it is established IN the Christ, now and forevermore.

Therefore, now, I would ask Martin Cecil to come and stand with me before the Altar. (Martin stood with Uranda) Before God and man I welcome you in recognition of the ordination of the LORD of Lords and KING of Kings which rests upon thee, to the position of sharing with me the work of the Bishop of the Emissaries of Divine Light, that under the blessing of our King we may accomplish His Will on earth, carrying blessings to all who will receive, of every land and clime upon the face of the whole earth. Therefore, now, in the Name of the LORD of Lords and KING of Kings, and through His Spirit, it is established, that it may be recognized by all who turn to Him, that they may receive of our hands the Gifts of Truth and Life which He would that all should receive fully and freely, now and forevermore. Oh LORD of Lords and KING of Kings, I thank Thee that it is so.

MARTIN — Oh LORD of Lords and KING of Kings, I give thanks unto Thee for the Holy privilege of Serving, and sharing in the responsibilities that are given to me in the focalization of the Spirit of Life, that in oneness with the Spirit of Truth and the Power of Thy Love, all those things may be accomplished in accordance with Thy Will on earth, and I Rejoice that it is so established, IN the Christ. Aum-en.

URANDA — Aum-en. Oh LORD, I thank Thee that Thy Word accomplishes that whereunto it is sent and that it shall not return unto Thee void, that all the earth may know that Thou art the living God and that all the powers of darkness are shaken and the unreal is being cast down, that as the darkness is dispelled the Light may be made manifest to all who will let their eyes be opened that they may see, that all who will may hear the Word of Truth, that all who will turn to Thee may be uplifted and strengthened upon the Rock, and know the Glorious expression of the Christ Life on earth whereby Thy Glory and the knowledge of the Lord shall be caused to cover the earth as the waters cover the sea, for Thine is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory forevermore. Aum-en.
