We Are Vitally Concerned With Essences

We  Are  Vitally  Concerned  With  Essences

The Essences of God

Martin Cecil   November 4, 1979

Recently we have used the word essence to describe the reality of God within the range of human experience. The reality of God is also beyond the range of human experience. We have spoken of undimensional God, which is a way of describing an ultimate reality. It is only as this ultimate reality comes into the range of experience as essence that we may begin to have a knowing of it. We are, then, vitally concerned with essences.

Human nature has been concerned with forms. There has been a certain recognition of the fact of essences relative to those forms, but the form has been prominent in consciousness—primary in consciousness. If there was any recognition that essences carried importance it was presumed that those essences could be found by examining the form and seeking to trace essences back of it. As we are well aware, this is the usual reverse attitude which human beings assume: they stay at the bottom and occasionally look up. They stay at the bottom because the primary interest and concern is with forms.

Should a consideration of spiritual things begin to assert itself in consciousness then the idea initially is to try to seek out the essence back of the form. This is sometimes done in the personal sense by an attempt to turn within one's own form in order to find whatever is there, in order to make contact with the reality, the spiritual reality. In other words here is an approach which is seeking to find the essence back of the form but proceeding from the level of the form. However the fact of the matter is that essences always precede form, so if we make the reverse approach we are always too late and we never discover anything of any particular value, other than that it may be useless to seek the essences back of the form. Apparently rather few even arrive at that point; they earnestly spend their lives seeking essences back of the forms, but the form is always the prominent thing, the important thing. They just want to know a little bit more about the form, and therefore it seems necessary to discover what the essence is back of it. But the form is the most peripheral aspect of whatever this creative process is, which doesn't proceed from forms—it isn't an evolutionary process in that sense; it proceeds from essences.

It has seemed very difficult for the human mind to grasp—impossible in fact—how the intricate mechanisms of the human body work. Only forms are being examined and it consequently appears that to understand one must have an immense store of knowledge about every aspect of every detail of everything that is occurring. This would require, I think, in these days at least, a considerable computer, and even then it could never be done. Of course if you are making a physical approach to the situation it seems as though there must be somebody present, perhaps designated as the subconscious mind, who has all this tremendous knowledge about the chemistry of the body. This is a very mysterious thing if one is making a physical approach but a very simple thing if one is concerned with essences. If the essences are permitted to provide what is necessary at that level then the physical requirements automatically follow suit, and nobody has to go to an institute of higher learning to discover all that is involved.

We see this happening relative to the humble spider who spins his web and does it most accurately on the basis of know-how; not because the spider has attained an engineering degree but because what is happening is happening on the basis of essences. Simple! What heavy weather human beings make of everything by attempting to manipulate forms, when the right handling of essences permits the form to reveal what has been established in the essence.

Whatever needs to be done relative to this body of mankind is certainly not going to be done because there are those who gain the necessary knowledge in order to program super computers which will then explain what should be done. As I have emphasized before, the attempt to solve problems making an external approach multiplies problems—if you solve one problem then you find you have ten more, and there is an exponential curve beginning to develop here.

I am sure we are all aware, theoretically at least, that the physical approach, what has sometimes been termed the approach of the First Sacred School, is not the one that will now achieve what is necessary. It wouldn't really have achieved what was necessary at the time of the Israelites, but it would have then offered a useful starting point which was acceptable and capable of being understood at the level where people were then. Then, step by step, changes could have been wrought so that a larger vision might have been known, leading into the point where essences would come into the picture insofar as human consciousness was concerned. Of course essences have always been in the picture, whether anyone knew about them or not.

We have noted how the initial steps toward this true spiritual experience were lost, rejected, so that there was only one approach left. This required a direct participation in the reality of essences. The rigmarole of trying to discover what the essences are, back of forms, was never the way to go, even in the First Sacred School or the Second Sacred School, but the approach which was offered there made possible—if it had been allowed to work, which it wasn't—a conditioning of human consciousness so that the experience of the handling of essences might have easily come on a widespread scale. Because those opportunities were lost, then it became obvious that the approach would necessarily have to be made in this field of essences on a very small scale, because there would be very few human beings whose consciousness was adequately conditioned to make this approach. Yet for anything of value to occur there must be the right handling of essences at the level where human beings are, even though it be but by a few. So we find ourselves at this point, with this matter of essences being emphasized to us.

I am sure we can see that the use of the word essence relates to the use of the word Word. It relates also to Spirit, but spirit is incomprehensible to human beings in the human state until there is the essential vibratory substance with which it may combine so that it comes within the range of human awareness. I am not speaking necessarily at the moment of the range of the human mind. The human mind has some definite restrictions. There is something beyond this, obviously. We would say that God is beyond the human mind. The human mind is a very little thing relative to the vast field of essences. Some of those essences are at the level of the human mind, but there is far more of essences beyond the human mind than is capable of being encompassed by the human mind. The human mind is a capacity within which certain vibrational levels of essence may be included, but there is much more which cannot be included there, at least not directly.

The essences may be seen as a combination of spirit and vibrational substance—vibrational substance from the very finest levels to the very coarsest. The true essences are a revelation of the spirit of God in action. In order for that action to occur dimensionally speaking the spirit of God must be in combination with dimensional substance. The spirit of God cannot be in combination directly with physical substance. The flesh of the human body is not merely physical substance. We have recognized, again theoretically I suppose, that mental substance is not separate from physical substance. All the levels of vibrational substance are not separate from each other. They interpenetrate each other from the top down, so to speak. At the physical level there is an interpenetration of all the vibrational levels of spiritual substance in this dimensional universe. We have recognized the fact of a veil, which excludes experience of the higher levels in the present human state. This does not deny, however, that all the vibrational factors are present; it is just that, because of the veil, human function ignores what is available for the expression of the spirit in living, in other words ignores essences, or only approaches essences from the standpoint of form.

As we have already noted, essences always precede form. Seeing this, again we may reemphasize the simplicity of the true creative process. The lower vibrational levels of substance are moved by the higher vibrational levels of substance; therefore if function is from the standpoint of the highest level of vibrational substance everything is under control. Here is the reality of the dominion which man was created to exercise in the name of the Lord on earth, and it involved no sweat of the brow, just the handling of essences. On this basis, when it was the correct handling of essences, all the other levels fell into their natural order according to what had been established for them. Where human beings now exist there has been a separation from the movement of spirit in the finest levels of essences and a substitute on the part of the human mind of an ersatz heaven which was supposed to produce a satisfactory state in form, but it hasn't. Obviously it could not.

So we come again to essences. There begins to be a clarification of the veil, of the impure heart, to a sufficient extent so that there may not only be a recognition of the fact of essences—most anyone can have that recognition if they really look at it—but an experience of the essences. A recognition of the fact doesn't accomplish much—there must be the experience of it. So presumably our concern has been to let a purification come in the heart so that the veil might be dissolved sufficiently to bring a sensing of the reality of the essences. Now we have some sensing in this regard. The essences are the quality of God.

By the way, I wonder how many felt it wise to look up the word essence in the dictionary. While the dictionary may be useful in providing a definition of sorts which sometimes is more or less accurate, when applied to the reality which we are considering, it of course only offers a concept. This is the approach toward essences from the level of form. Making this approach, in my dictionary the definition was as follows:

1: that which makes something what it is; that in which the real nature of a thing consists; intrinsic or fundamental nature. 2: the distinctive quality or qualities of something.

It went on, but I think that's enough.

Making the approach from the physical standpoint, which is what the mind does, there is the production of definitions along this line. We can see how the definitions apply. We could take something and see if we could discover what the essences are. We won't get very far, but we may be able to discern the fact that there are some essences at the mental level. We could take a tree, for instance. When we use the word tree we think of a form, don't we? It may be some particular tree. Which one shall we choose? Redwood perhaps—that's a very impressive tree. Ah, there's an essence: impressive. It's majestic; we might even call it exalted; and it is enduring, at least from the standpoint of human lifetimes. So immediately there are some essences which relate to this form. We could take some other tree and see some different essences.

We could take the human form and recognize that there are some essences present there of which we have an awareness, somewhat, with respect to ourselves, but more with respect to other people—the character, the quality, the nature, which is made evident by the form. That can be deceiving, can't it? It's not quite so deceiving in trees. They don't dissemble, whereas human beings do. We might have a con man for instance. Here is the appearance of something, of an essence, which certainly isn't the true essence. The actual essence of that con man is his con nature, but he covers that up as far as possible in order to sell the bill of goods. So judge not by the appearance—first of all not by the form, but not by the surface essences either.

How deep do you think you can penetrate into the essences of someone else? Generally speaking human beings don't go very deep. They are not capable of going very deep. Why not? Because they cannot penetrate further than the level of those essences at which they themselves function. Because of this there is usually a tendency to accuse others of what is in oneself. Most people are not aware of this.

So there are various levels of essences even within the scope of the human experience, and this is a very, very small part, a distorted part, a limited part, of the total range of essences. If we see it in terms of a seven-plane, or seven-dimensional, state, then this would relate to the first two dimensions only, and, as we recognize, the higher intensity vibrational substance permeates the lower and always goes beyond it. So it is getting bigger and bigger as we go up, more and more range, more and more scope—a vastly greater field of essences. So let us not think of essences as squeezings! The orange juice you drink in the morning is not really the essence of the orange. Essences are infinitely vaster than forms.

The idea has tended to be that essences are small, narrowing down finally to nothing; but the smallest level of substance is the level of what we call physical substance. We can see this to be the fact if we look at the universe; there's scarcely any physical substance in it at all, really. We may have a star-filled sky, and see more stars through a telescope, but relative to the amount of space there is it's nothing—just a gossamer. The same thing is true for each one of us sitting here: the form is the smallest part of us, and yet what a big thing human beings try to make out of it.

Essences are the concern, and we cannot have any real comprehension or awareness of the true essences as long as the veil separates our consciousness from them. It isn't that we are going to take our consciousness up to some other level. Our consciousness the way it is doesn't belong at some other level; it belongs right where it is and it can't really get out of that. But it is possible to let the levels which are already present come within the range of our awareness, and this happens to the extent that the veil is dissolved, or the heart purified. As it happens we become aware of something vast.

At the beginning of the service I emphasized the vastness, the majesty, the glory of God. It would be quite impossible for these puny little human creatures here to add anything to that. It is what it is already. However what it is can be allowed to appear in whatever the fitting way would be at the level where human beings are. The fitting way wouldn't be an intense blaze of glory, like a nuclear explosion, because that would dispose of human beings, wouldn't it? The fitting way is what is creative at the level where it appears. The fitting way is not a destructive way. It enhances whatever is present at the level where it appears.

The intensity of the creative expression of the finest level of essences must be stepped down, so to speak, from level to level so that it may appear creatively at whatever level it should appear; and for the moment the least blaze of glory would likely be the physical level. There is quite a blaze of glory that we observe day by day going across the sky—or apparently going across the sky—but I don't suppose anyone is at the moment too much interested in emigrating to the sun. So there is something which is fitting here at the present time. Let us not imagine that what is known now on the face of the earth is supposed to be this way forever. We hope not anyway! But even the sorts of experiences that are known are certainly not what really should be known when the essences are allowed to be present within the range of human expression so that the dominion of God is established on earth. Then, I suspect, things would really move. Something would happen. We wouldn't be lolling around on the beach. The world would change in the creative sense.

The first order of business, however, is to find a few human beings who will allow these essences to emerge into expression in their own living; and what emerges will be at a level that is suitable for the occasion, for the state of affairs that is present. Something is emerging here and now in this state of affairs. It is fitting for this state of affairs. It wouldn't be fitting in some other state of affairs. You can recognize that easily enough. We won't go to the beer parlor at Exeter Arms and give a service—it wouldn't be fitting. Conceivably there is something that would be fitting there. You might have to use your imagination! But if for some reason you happened to be in that circumstance, then you would bring into that circumstance what was fitting for that circumstance, and that is true regardless of where one may be.

But there is the necessity of the establishment of a sacred place, as we have noted before, in which the finer essences are safe. We gather on a Sunday morning, for instance now, to allow the borders of this sacred place to be expanded, allow the dust and the cobwebs and the garbage that may be present to be swept out so that it is a holy place, a fitting receptacle for the finer essences to fill, which they will do. In fact they are doing it anyway, but not within the range of our awareness until there is a sacred place in our awareness; then there it is. It doesn't have to come from anywhere—there it is—it was there already. As this is so, and that sacred place is maintained in our living no matter where we are or what we are doing, then there is always something being offered fittingly into the environment, into the world around us, out of this sacred place of fine essence: the expression of God, which never appears as a destructive blaze of glory. It appears as a blaze of glory at a level where it is creative. It doesn't appear as a blaze of glory at a level where it would be destructive.

So we live out of this sacred place, aware of what is fitting to find expression by reason of our living in any particular circumstance. But we cannot know what is fitting, we certainly cannot provide what is fitting, unless there is a holy place, and when there is we will be living out of it. If we are not living out of it, it isn't there. So if there is a holy place, a sacred place, we will live out of it. We will be in it but our expression will emerge out of it into the circumstance of the moment in whatever way may be fitting. And being aware increasingly of the reality of essences, we see that there is much more to our expression than the thing we do in the moment physically speaking, or even the word that we speak in the moment, or even the thought that we think—because, after all, the thought that we think is at the level of the mind, isn't it, and there is something vastly greater than that. But there comes an awareness, as there is a sacred place and the fine essences are consequently present in our experience, that we are living at levels which we had not heretofore dreamt even existed.

If this is seen you can recognize, obviously, that you cannot talk to people and explain all this. If there is any understanding in you it is merely there because, in whatever measure, the veil has been dissolving so that something of the reality can emerge into your own consciousness. Then there it is. It's there not because I put it there somehow by projecting something into you but because you became aware of what was already present there. And this is the way it works, which reemphasizes the fact that nobody is going to get anything from a leader—so why try? Why try to get something? Or why try to project someone into an exalted position, as though he was going to provide something that you could get?

What is necessary is what you are going to provide, what we are all going to provide. Then the essences are present. The essences are not divided up into chunks. The essences are whole. Those whole essences certainly differentiate into expression through this person and that person; but they do not thereby separate themselves from the state of wholeness out of which they sprang, and we all share that state of wholeness. This is the state that is present in the finest level of essences, and as that emerges into our expression because the veil dissolves, then we live in a way which is different obviously, different from the way most human beings live, the way we ourselves have lived. We find something new, and because of this expression of essences all things are in the process of being made new, to the revelation of the glory of God in the manner that is fitting at the level of those who are present in the environment where the expression appears. Let us let this glory be revealed in our living.

The Essential Core

The  Essential  Core

from  The Principle of the Core

Uranda   January 15, 1946

We stand for the core of things—a recognition of the fundamental realities which unify heavenly things and earthly things, in a realization of what the center of being actually is. We have, in various forms of expression, recognized the essential nature of our service as the core of spiritual expression, and so the point of our function as the core is not in any sense startlingly new. Yet, as we examine it, what is the natural process of thought that comes to mind? We recognize the cycles of outworking events, and in simple illustration that immediately suggests to us the relationship to the wheels of Ezekiel's vision, which we have mentioned in times past. A wheel has a hub, and if in the cycles or wheels there is a core, then that core is the hub. We have felt—and sometimes there has been a little sense of impatience in the matter—that the manifestation of our service should grow more rapidly. But observe: if our function is, as we have long recognized, an expression of the core of things, then our manifest formation must be the most stable of all the manifest forms in the world, which would basically prevent any expression of what might be called phenomenal growth in the sense of numbers.

Now, as we look at the wheel revolving around us, we see that there is centrifugal force causing that which is of the unreal to move toward the outer perimeter, while only that which is drawn steadily and consistently by the power of divine love can move against centrifugal force toward the center of things. At various given distances from the core, formations tend to manifest according to various patterns, and in those formations we see the various existing schools of thought that have broken away from the crystallizations of the old-world religious consciousness and have partaken, to a degree, of the bounty of truth that is offered to all. Let us remember the operation of the One Law in this matter, for those who respond in love to the divine are drawn toward the center in spite of the centrifugal force involved, but those who have uncertain response, or a diminishing manifestation of love response, gravitate toward the outer circumferences that are involved, not only on the basis of two positives repelling each other but also on the basis of the centrifugal force that is present. The degrees of response in both directions determine the point between the core and the perimeter in which the individual will, for a time at least, find himself more or less polarized, and so establish the particular formation in which he will, for the time at least, find himself to be at home.

Now let us consider our own formation and the recognition of the principle of the core as a key to the proper course which we should pursue in the expansion activities of our service. In one sense it appears that we are under extremely great limitations, because our methods of function in the realm of the core are in many ways divergent from the methods of function in the world as a whole, and so in the world we experience more or less generally recognized forms of limitation. However, this problem manifests in another way. In these various formations which have found varying degrees of polarization at different points between the core and the perimeter of the wheel, or cycle, we find the manifestation of varying degrees of truth mixed to varying degrees with human concepts. It has long been a basic recognition in this service that all people, of all races and creeds, who respond to the spirit of God in love have a part, consciously or unconsciously, in the outworking of the divine will in the earth. It has been repeatedly emphasized that we have not drawn any arbitrary line of demarcation between ourselves and others, and it has been clearly shown that we have not rejected the beneficial activities which may be made manifest by reason of the truth that is present in individuals or schools of thought or churches or races, nationally or internationally.

But here is the problem. If one begins to look at the situation from a point between the core and the perimeter—suppose that he looks back, as it were, toward the core—our expression and insistence on complete conformity to reality appears to the blurred vision of an individual in such a point of polarity to mean that we copy the truth that is present in these formations which he recognizes around himself, while rejecting the formations themselves. So such persons tend to come to the conclusion that we fail to practice the Golden Rule, and that we refuse to recognize the beneficial activities in other realms of function, and in their eyes we therefore appear to be inconsistent.

These facts must be taken into consideration in relationship to any program of expansion which we may undertake, and in relationship to a consideration of any situation which may arise which involves the relationships of this service with the people and activities of the world in general. This is basically that which the Master recognized when He pointed out that we would be falsely accused and vilified at various times and in various ways, and that our motives would not be understood, no matter how purely we might be functioning in the spirit of selfless service. It becomes immediately evident, as we have recognized all along, that it would be utterly futile for us in this Church and School to undertake to engender any mass response in the world toward the activities in which we are engaged. In a sense, then, response to this service becomes highly individual and selective, not because we wish to make it so but because the very nature of the world's structure prevents its present manifestation in any other manner.

In view of all of this, it appears that in our present situation, and in the present cyclic advancement not only of this service but of world affairs, we should key our every function in relationship to expansive expression to a clear realization of the principle of the core. In this is the key which should determine the manifestation and formation of our activities of the more or less immediate future. It is essential that we devise some means of opening vibrations to individuals in the world who are ready to respond to the vibratory nature and function in the essential core of things. The stability of the core or hub is absolutely essential, and constant lubrication with the oil of love between the hub and the wheel or cycle revolving around it is essential, lest friction produce a condition which brings failure to both.

There is bound to be a certain amount of friction, and the necessity in relationship to that point is that the hub prove to be so strong and so durable that it is not essentially disturbed or changed in form because of such friction as is unavoidable. Also, let it be remembered that while the hub or core is obviously most essential, the meaning of the hub would be reduced virtually to the zero point if it were not for the wheel.

In all of this it is clearly seen that undue emphasis has not been placed upon the necessary principle of radiation through the faithful ones. In other words, the extreme emphasis that has been placed upon this point, and the admonition that the individual need not be conscious of the results of his radiation, is seen in a clearer light. The changes that are taking place in the wheel between the hub and the periphery will continue to work out and to come into manifestation step by step, regardless of world plans, concepts and efforts, as long as the wheel or cycle keeps moving, as it surely will, and as long as the core remains consistently stable as a center from which there is a constant radiation of the pure light of the Christ love.

The Essential Core of Unified Radiation

Martin Cecil November 22, 1981

Many people have been conned into believing that some sort of a Messiah will be putting in an appearance sometime to solve all problems which assail the children of men. The only reason why anyone would anticipate a Messiah as a deliverer would obviously be consequent upon failure. One had gotten oneself in such a terrible state and condition that the only way out seemed to be to have someone from somewhere else put in an appearance and provide the essential delivery. There is a recognition here of the need for an individual precedent to be set. The Messiah should come and set the individual precedent—seeing that the collective failure had occurred. And this is exactly what happened. The Messiah in this sense—the Anointed One—came and established an individual precedent of victory.

We might take a look for a moment at what is meant by the word victory. There are those who would be inclined to think of the victory experienced by Jesus as relating to His resurrection, but there would have been no resurrection if there had not already been victory. The victory is simply the consistent expression of the creative spirit of the living God in all aspects of one’s living. That’s all. Simple. This was proven out certainly by Jesus. The victory was established long before His crucifixion. So One came as the Messiah and established exactly what was necessary to provide the precedent of individual victory—the precedent which was then available to be accepted by anyone, anywhere, in any generation subsequently.

This having been done there is no need for a Messiah, is there? The concept of the Messiah putting in an appearance, either for the first time or again, is in each case quite unnecessary. He was here already, and why would that need to be done again? It’s been done. We have seen clearly enough that the individual opportunity for victory has been provided and is available to be accepted. Nothing else needs to be done in that regard. It has all been done. But we are aware of what yet needs to be done, and that is to establish the precedent of collective victory.

There is at the moment a gap between the individual victory, the precedent for which has been set, and the restoration of mankind to the true state. The restoration of mankind to the true state is a collective matter. The individual precedent has been set, the restoration needs to take place; therefore the gap in between the individual precedent and the restoration must be filled. Mankind as a whole may be restored collectively only when the collective precedent is set. Now we see this in terms of our own responsibility, recognizing that it is first an individual matter.

Clearly, this collective precedent certainly does not include the whole body of mankind. It includes certain ones, those who have been brought to the point where there is the capacity to accept the precedent of individual victory. I can say this to you because you have some understanding of what it is that I am saying. The vast majority of human beings wouldn’t have a clue. If you have some understanding then you are the ones, so that the restoration of mankind is very specifically in your individual hands. It comes because there is this—not exactly a collective Messiah but a collective King. The government by which restoration is made possible is the responsibility of those who are included in the precedent-setting collective pattern of victory, because they individually have assumed the responsibility for the individual victory.

We have spoken of this as being the priesthood. The priesthood certainly doesn’t include everyone on earth. It doesn’t include very many. I think the way by which these things can find fulfilment is relatively simple. At no time has the Lord expected the impossible. He knows very well that it would be impossible to anticipate that each individual on the face of the earth would prove the victory for him- or herself as an individual. That would never happen, so He doesn’t expect it. But He does expect it from those who are in position to compose the collective body by which the precedent of victory may be set. And that is us, and others of course as well—the ones who know, the ones who understand, the ones who have had the opportunity to gain a large spiritual perspective.

You are in position to set a precedent. What is to happen beyond that in the restoration of mankind is achieved by reason of the creative spirit of God. Human beings have always been inclined to imagine that by their own view of things, the way they think it should all happen, what is necessary will be achieved. But I’m sure that all of you have reached a point where you just don’t knowyou plain don’t know. I hope you’ve reached that point, because if you think you do know what is necessary, I can assure you that it is wrong. There are those associated with our program in one way or another who at times get ideas that they know how the thing should be worked out. There is need for more vision.

We know something about the working of the Law. We are aware of the fact, if not as yet understanding it fully, that this is a vibrational ministry. There must be a vibrational core. It must be present. It must be consistent. It must constantly be there. It is associated with places. It would be impossible to have a true core without such association. There is a core in this ministry. It has been sustained and is being sustained and will be sustained.

You may recall the story contained in the Book of Acts where there were a number of people gathered in an upper room in Jerusalem. They had been there for a while. Because of the circumstances and because of the fact that they had been there for while, something began to emerge in their experience. It was called the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. They had been instructed to tarry in Jerusalem, but they thought this was it. They were really becoming potent spiritual people now and should carry this to everybody round about, which they proceeded to do; and the core was dissipated. It was gone. And what they undertook to do in their roamings about brought unutterable suffering to immense numbers of people. It was not what was required at all. And yet human beings think they know what is required and try to make it work out that way. It won't work out that way. That will reestablish the failure. It will work out in the only way it can work out—on the basis of the establishment of the precedent of collective victory because those who make that possible have proven out individual victory. The individual victory wouldn't try to reestablish patterns of human activity that lead to failure. There is the necessity for those who compose the core of the precedent of victory to sustain that core.

It always seems that someone imagines he is able to look at things and know how everybody else should be behaving. What is necessary is to establish the victory for oneself. That’s the only thing that has any real value. After all, there have been people going around trying to stir up spiritual interest here or there, anticipating that great things will be achieved thereby. There have been some of you, I’m sure, who have felt that somehow or other you should be able to do this, but it isn’t the way. That’s a concept of the mind. It doesn’t work that way. It works because the creative spirit of the living God is in action individually and therefore collectively.

It has been recognized that God moves in mysterious ways His wonders to perform, and human minds can’t figure it out. Well let’s let God move in mysterious ways, then, His wonders to perform and not try to corral Him into our human concepts. The corral is maintained by the concepts of human minds which think they know when they don’t. We all associate with people one way or another, but unless the core is in place and those who move around are centered in the core without judgment of the core, nothing can be achieved. What they are doing will be found to be worthless. The truth is true—and all is well because the truth is true. The ideas and concepts and beliefs of human minds are false.

So we share the responsibility of establishing the collective precedent of victory, so that the creative power of God can work under the hand of God as it is designed to work, and there is no human mind who knows what that is. It will prove itself out to the extent that we permit that collective precedent of victory to be established, and that only comes on the basis of the individual precedent of victory. We don't need to look at anyone else.

We have a mission as Emissaries which is absolute. We certainly are not interested in amending the mission so as to conform with the concepts of men. When it is in the hands of the Lord it works. When it is in the hands of human beings it never works. So there is a core, and this core we see in terms now of what is required to establish the precedent of collective victory, the government of God, which is not in any way the same as the government of man. It is done on the basis of the Law—and we know something about that. As the collective precedent of victory is established, there is unified radiation. That unified radiation at the level where human beings are is in fact what gets the job done. In association with that radiation there will doubtless be some movement of human beings from here to there, at least of those who are part of the collective pattern of victory; and it will be very clear, moving out from the core, as to what it is that that movement should be.

We share the responsibility of providing this unified radiation, because individually our living reveals the victory. Then there is something to be unified, there is the individual radiation to be unified, but the individual radiation must be there first if there is anything to be unified. There can't be collective unified radiation if there are no individuals in whom that radiation is a fact. So the radiation is an individual matter and it is unified because there is a core. It is not as though individual radiation, if it is genuine, would scatter people abroadit doesn't—it unifies them into the state of unified radiation. It doesn't mean that they are scattered all over creation trying to do things the way human beings have tried to do things over the ages and failed. This unified radiation is something of which human beings have precious little awareness. We begin to have some awareness and we begin to observe what happens because of it.

I’m sure we are all interested in letting something be done because of us rather than in spite of us. The Lord has worked miracles in spite of us. Let's give Him a break that He may have the chance to do something because of us! In spite of all our strange ideas, all the Emissary concepts and beliefs, much has been achieved, but how much more if we were on the ball, if that creative expression of spirit were consistently known in unified radiation. And the unified radiation doesn't spring forth without having a focus. The very fact that an individual Messiah was necessary back along the way reveals that the individual focus is necessary. We’re not going to do away with that, at least we’re not going to do it if we expect victory.

So the core must be in place, and presumably those who are most capable, most mature spiritually speaking, are the only ones who will consistently be in position to provide what is necessary at the core. Who else is going to do it? If the idea is that one must go out and whisper in the ears of all the population of the earth in order to persuade them to turn in the right direction, we might as well quit right now. It isn’t done that way. It is done because there is this creative radiation of spirit factually in action. The creative radiation of spirit is only factually in action on a unified basis when there is a means of unification—those who are capable of providing it. They are doing it, they have been doing it for some time, and because they have been doing it many things have been happening in the world. The least of that happening is what occurs because somebody goes out and talks to people. That may be fitting on occasion but it is not the way the job is going to get done. Very fortunately it is done in an invisible way. That’s a much safer way of doing it—it seems so innocuous but it is creatively potent.

So we have this vision and increasing understanding of the way things actually work. What is to happen in that working and what the effects will be we are interested in finding out. We don’t know ahead of time. We will find out. We trust the Lord and participate in unified radiation with power and great glory. Here is the way, the truth and the life which makes possible the restoration of mankind, and that’s the only reason we are present on earth. We are not here to maintain the human state or to imagine that anything creative can be done by the good efforts of human beings separate from the experience of unified radiation.

Let the level of consciousness rise up out of that morass of human belief. Let go of that arrogance and yield easily and naturally to the creative spirit of the living God, that there may be participation in the establishment of the collective precedent of victorythe establishment of the government of God on earth.
