One of the most remarkable chapters in the whole Bible dealing with world conditions, with that which is taking place and that which is to come, is the 18th Chapter of Revelation. We have gathered to consider those things that are so wonderful and full of life in the world as it now is. In this world of turmoil with so many disturbing conditions, the only course that can be followed with certainty and surety and any degree of peace and tranquility, is that which is charted according to that which God has revealed, and we always find in the Way that He provides, more joy, happiness, peace and satisfaction of living than in any other way that there is. I shall read: “And after these things I saw ...” You have seen something the beauty of the river, the trees, the loveliness of this place. It is something that you know, that is a reality. You have seen. And so the Revelator is talking about things he saw, and as we look into them we find that, through his vision, we can see many important, fascinating and helpful things. “And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.”
Before I read further, let us be certain that you understand what the symbolism portrays. You will remember that after the Fall, the process of dispersion is pictured as the tower of Babel. Of course, the tower of Babel as pictured in the Bible, while there may have been an actual structure, is symbolic of the effort of human beings to overthrow their limitations and, through self-activity, achieve a tower of being and stature equal to God. Prior to the Fall only one language had been used, after that many nations developed. The word “Babylon” itself means “confusion.” The tower of Babel referred to confusion of tongues, and Babylon as mentioned in the Bible is an expression of confusion. But it is spoken of as a great city—“Babylon the great.” If we went to London or to New York, or almost any great city—these are the two greatest—we should find them to be cities of confusion, should we not? There is a great deal of confusion. But Babylon here represents the structure that man has made from the standpoint of the whole world—the man made structure of the world, all that human beings have done, not just in one city, nation or continent, but all over the world, their activities in commerce, greed, etc., their desires to achieve, through self-active effort, power and wealth. In other words, we have to recognize that the term Babylon simply means the man-made world of today, all over, everywhere. As we consider this, what do we find?
There are many, many people who find things beautiful and lovely and who are working sincerely in all fields for what they conceive to be a better world, and their actions are certainly to be commended. But when we get on the inside of what we might call big business, of whatever type, and as we behold the things that make the man-made world function, what makes the wheels go around? What do we find? When we get back behind the scenes we find that selfishness and greed and lust and all those things are the controlling factors, although they sometimes have a nice outer coating. If the real basic activities of human beings, from the standpoint of the controlling factors in our own land and in every other land, could be spread out where all the people could see them, I wonder what the reaction would be. Jesus once spoke of whited sepulchres which within are full of dead men’s bones. That is a good description. Man fell, and the world function has fallen. And what do we find here? “And is become the habitation of devils.” What does the term mean? It means all of the hateful thoughts and ideas and desires which man in his selfish self-activity expresses. “… and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.” This is the meanness expressed by mind and action—complete disregard of others: selfishness.
“For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.” That is speaking of the processes of communication, the interchange between nations, for the further building up of what we might call a world empire of commerce whereby many individuals think to gain still greater wealth and power in order to dominate the lives of human beings. We find that structure in the world today. It speaks of the merchants of the earth waxing rich through the abundance of her delicacies. We go back one hundred years or less, and here in this district at least, life was a comparatively simple thing, free of the complexities, the things that human beings think they have to have these days in order to get along. Unless we consider this we cannot understand world conditions, national or international. Suppose you were to try to write out a list of all kinds of electric devices, etc., that have been brought into the market in the last fifty years or so, that are required if you are functioning according to those requirements, that are supposed to make life easy for you. But do these things make life easier, or do they simply complicate and speed it up, constituting, in so many instances, a drain upon one’s nervous energy, so that there is no longer a peaceful, relaxed expression of life?
“And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” That is the call that is going forth into all the world now, and all of the earnest ones of whatever nation, tongue or creed who are properly turning to God and are responding to that call, are included. They are being called to “come out of her,” that they do not become embroiled, immersed, in these needless things, in these complexities of the unreal life. “For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities. Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.” She, referring to Babylon, simply indicates this outer world, the world of commerce and industry and all of the functions that are supposed to give man power and wealth, including political positions.
“How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.” How about the time prior to this war? Many people thought that there would not be another war. The world was living deliciously, buying new cars, and everything was on the up and up. Everybody was forgetting God, because they were enjoying all of these outer things to such a degree. But what happened? “Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.” That relates to the coming of this great world conflict. “... for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.” Does that mean that the Lord God deliberately brought about world conditions to make this war, that He is responsible for this war with all its horrors? No, it is never God's will that any should suffer, but the Laws of God are established and He is not going to change them. He provided man with an opportunity for happiness and all the joys of living, but when man disregarded them, what happened? There were conflicts, perverted conditions, and as God intensifies these conditions, there is bound to be an adverse result. From the use of electricity we can have light and warmth—or we can be killed by it. As long as we harmonize with the laws and the principles of electricity, we do not have any trouble, but suppose I were to reach up and cut this wire right in two and start playing around with the bared ends. I would have violated the laws of electricity, and the result would be very painful.
It is the same with God's Laws. They can provide everything that is lovely if one harmonizes with them, but the human tendency is to go and do something that one should not do. That is the way man got into this state in the first place, by doing something that he was told not to do. God does not set up these conditions arbitrarily. He does not tell us not to do the things that would be delightful to do. He simply tells us not to do the things that are going to hurt us. He shows us the right use of the forces which He places within our reach. If a person uses that strong current of electricity wrongly, he is judging himself. The result is brought on by himself. The laws which established the current of electricity made it possible to allow the proper use of it; but these laws were established by the Lord—then these are the laws by which the individual is judged. It is the Lord who provided these currents, opportunities and blessings, and consequently, when they are misused there is a disturbance. God provides the law and the principle in the first place, and He says, use it this way and it will be lovely—use it that way and you will hurt yourself. When an individual takes it upon himself to use it the wrong way, then it may be said that he judges himself. While this point may be comparatively clear in your minds, it is something that the world stumbles upon all the time.
“And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning. Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city; for in one hour is thy judgment come. And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more: The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble. And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.”
Now, I want you to notice the list of merchandise given here, and if you can name one single thing in all the multitude of things that we buy in the earth today that is not included, directly or indirectly, I should like you to name it. It covers the list pretty well. Name one thing, with all of our inventions, our manufactured articles, that does not come, directly or indirectly, within that list. It talks of chariots—we have automobiles, airplanes, and so on. It talks about all of the things that relate to foods, all up and down the line. “... and slaves, and souls of men.” So often men and women sell their souls for a little bit of gain in the world. They let themselves be put in the position of being slaves, prevented from expressing the beauty and the loveliness that is natural to the individual.
You know, once human beings get the shell off, and once they begin to let that which is natural and of themselves come forth, while they have different features and some may be considered more handsome than others, they are all lovely until they start acting in an unlovely manner. Did you ever stop to think about that? Then what really matters is not so much the outer appearance, but it is letting that which you really are come forth, letting the lovely expression of your being shine out in joy and peace and happiness and blessing to others, that which brings delight, that which is fitting, in proper order. What is it that prevents, in so many cases, this manifestation?
We are speaking here of slaves and men and women selling their souls. What is it that brings about this condition? What is hate? It is a feeling of violent animosity because of unlovely acts in both parties, or at least in one; and if one individual hates another individual for being unlovely, then the one who hates is unlovely, too. Did you ever see anything really beautiful and inspiring in hate? How about greed? How about selfishness? No. And yet, from the standpoint of this commerce, what is it that is most appealed to in human beings by those merchants who are building up Babylon? It is jealousy, greed, selfishness, inordinate pride of various kinds.
Have you noticed that practically every piece of advertising, almost without any exception, appeals to some unlovely characteristic or tendency in human beings? It may be dressed up very nicely, and you may question it at first glance, but when you go into it you will find that the primary sales appeal that is used is directed towards these unlovely traits of human character. Now, when that sales appeal is repeated and repeated until the person is so stirred up that he is driven by this force of greed, this get and get and get—is he a slave or not? He has become a slave, and he is selling his soul to get something. And when he gets it, is he happy? And then he swells up in pride and he goes to work to get something else, and he is a slave all over again, and he is selling his soul all over again, forgetting to see the beauties all around him, forgetting to enjoy life. That is what is taking place, is it not? But does that not keep stirring up the unlovely in human beings? Every human being is fine and lovely until he starts doing and saying unlovely things.
In order to be free, we find it perfectly permissible to utilize these things out here in the world, but not to be slaves to them, not to be driven by a desire to get this, that, or the other thing, not driven by greed or selfishness; and so we can stop selling our souls to get these things, and we are no longer slaves. We may be bound about by limitations, but we are free inside. You may say, “You are not telling us anything new,” but perhaps you have caught a new vision of this—and also, I am helping you to see the various principles by which you can help to convey these things to others as the opportunity presents itself, because we are here to learn various ways and means of presenting principles by which human beings can be released out of prison into the sunshine of God’s Love, where peace and joy abound, so that they are no longer slaves.
Right here comes a recognition of what is involved from the standpoint of world activities. We see how these things influence individuals and the world from the standpoint of nations. What started the war? You cannot point to any one individual, or to any two or three, and say, “They were the guilty ones.” They were guilty, perhaps, but they are not the only ones. This does not detract from their guilt; there is nothing to provide any leniency towards the obviously guilty ones. But what were the conditions back of all this? Most people do not go back that far. I will illustrate just this much from the standpoint of Germany. Germany attempted to have a democracy. That democracy, in form at least, existed for about twenty years, roughly speaking. Then it fell. Why did it fall? Because that democracy was refused support by the other nations of the world. Not one single one of the great powers of the world reached out a helping hand. When I say that, I am not condoning Hitler or any of the atrocities that the Nazis have perpetrated, but I am only pointing out that when there is something rotten underneath, it boils out on top; and you cannot tell me that any one man like Hitler was entirely responsible for it, as far as that is concerned. You talk about the Japanese. I have no brief for them. But, right up until the day of Pearl Harbor, who was it that was selling them oil, scrap iron, loading them up with it, shipping it right out of the United States of America over there to Japan? And what did the Japanese use it for? Who was selling it, and for what reason? Because of greed—the desire to get; to get, money. And why did Japan buy it? So that they could use it in order to get, to get, to get. That is what starts wars.
Then there is this business of individual wants and selfish desires. Have you ever seen any quarrels started along that line, any disturbances made manifest, any little private wars? I wonder. Then there are disturbances between states, between all kinds of corporations and organizations—all the way down the line from the war conflict to the little feud that you had last time with your sister, brother, friend. Could there be a world conflict if there was not any of this spirit and attitude in the world? Just suppose human beings were no longer slaves, no longer striving to get things. You may say, “There would not be any ambition.” But how would you have a war? You could not make a quarrel between neighbors, or anywhere, and how could you have a war? I think right there you have as clear a recognition of what world conditions are as you can get. The cause of world conditions is there, and the way of removing those ill conditions. But is there any hope of doing that so long as man is in control as he now is? What is it that can bring a change?
A change will come only to the degree that the individual experiences what it means to live a spiritual life. You have reached a point where you have been greatly freed from these shackles that bind so many people. You are no longer so strongly driven by desires to get this, that and the other thing. Some of you are not completely free yet, but you are coming along nicely. To the degree that you are no longer under that strife, is there anything left in life to make you happy? Do you have to have this strife that is sometimes mistakenly called ambition? Do you still have any ambition, although you may be free of that strife. Why yes. Oh, you do! What is true ambition? It is ambition to serve, to give joy, and you know, sometimes I think we are a little selfish, too, because of a surety the more happiness we give to others, the more we get back. You cannot help but be happy when you make others happy too, and the ambition to serve and to let the Light shine and to experience all those things that are so lovely and so free, provided in such abundance by the Lord, does not leave one in a hopeless state, bored to death. He becomes a free man, free to live instead of being a slave.
What does the 14th verse say? “And the fruits that thy soul lusteth after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.” What happens to all of these things that man has made? When things really get tough—the world catastrophe—and people lose their possessions, then those who are all wrapped up in their things lose themselves, don’t they? In losing the things, they lose themselves. But in regard to those who have something inside, those who are using the things but are not lost in them, when the things are gone they have that real quality, that real something that stands—the true basis of courage, steadfastness, certainty and assurance in the outworking of things. It is they, who are already freed from those things, who are going to be able to stand.
Blessed Ones, talking about world conditions, we can recognize in the general trend of affairs that for about two years after the close of the European war there will be, in all probability, a reasonable upward swing. Things will continue to go along. There will be a lot of trouble, turmoil, dissatisfaction, but according to the present trend, unless there are radical changes, we can expect a fairly prosperous period. It might be three or four years, but right in there about that time there probably will be a drag—there will be a period of deflation, or the bottom dropping out of things; maybe it will be deflation from inflation. That will certainly take things away from a lot of people. The world is heading into a time of still greater trouble. During this period of world trouble, some people will turn to God, but not all by any means. Some people still have the idea that they can go to church on Sunday and say, “I believe thus and so,” and then go on during the week and never give spiritual things a thought; cheat their brother man, then go to church another Sunday, and that is all that is necessary. They never think of coming to know God and living with Him all of the while. Until people begin to live with and know God, there is going to be trouble. When things get tough, people turn to God; when the way gets easy, they forget Him. As long as that keeps up things are going to get tougher and tougher and worse and worse, until people remember to remember God always.
“The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing. And saying, Alas, alas that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls. For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off, And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city. And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness; for in one hour is she made desolate.”
In the 20th verse those who walk in the Way of God are told what attitude to take in such a time. While there are many points of interest that we might talk about in relation to world conditions, you will find that what you really need is given here. As these difficulties arise and world troubles appear and losses occur, and all the rest of it, what is to be your attitude? “Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.”
“And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all” In other words, the world structure produced through mass confusion will be thrown down sooner or later, and shall be thrown down with violence and shall be found no more at all. It is going to come to an end, and something wonderful and beautiful is going to take its place.
“And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee; And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.” And all nations are deceived now, believe me. This great city Babylon, then, is the cause of all this slaying on the face of the earth—and that means every man, woman and child who dies in such a conflict as the world now faces. Suppose we were to take away the commerce in bullets and weapons of war, and remove the causes of war in the hearts and minds of men. There would not be any war. And here is the world condition as it is coming, and as it shall work out.
Those who have it in their hearts to function in an attitude of destruction will keep on until they have destroyed themselves. They may destroy a lot of comparatively innocent people too, but evil is destroying itself from the face of the earth, and those who remain and carry through will be those who have already let themselves be set free from slavery, from the merchandise of Babylon. Instead of trying to figure out just what shape world events will take, and how and why and so on, troubling your minds about a lot of things, and trying to unravel the mystery of the unreal, I think you will find here in this Chapter all you really need to know about world events. Do you see anything in relation to world events that has been omitted here? We cannot tell what human beings are going to do. But we know what God is going to do, and as long as we work with Him and remember to keep free so that we are not slaves to the commerce of the world babel of confusion—whether it falls, or rises, or stands for a bit before it topples—we know that all things will work out in the right way.
What are we doing? We are seeking to render service to others, that they may find what it means to be free from slavery, from bondage to all these things, because our own beloved country is one of the most idolatrous of all nations. There are more metals here to make idols out of—new kinds of metal. All down the line we worship the things that we want to get, and we make idols of those possessions. They will pass away some day. If we are wrapped up in them, we shall pass away with them. If we are not, we shall have a chance to carry through.
Our Beloved Master, by reason of Thy all-enfolding Love the Way is prepared, and all things are working together in perfection. We thank Thee that the movement of world currents and world events is of value to us only as it opens opportunities for us to serve Thee and our brother man, and, also, that it gives us the privilege of letting our Light shine, that we may do all that is possible to bring courage, peace, hope, truth and understanding, and the healing and soothing touch of Thy Presence and Thy Love, to all who will receive. From The Motherland To The New Earth State

Tonight I had thought that we could spend some time very profitably going back and reviewing some of world history as we think of it in the Third Sacred School, and then from a viewpoint of that world history, look ahead. Of course, if we were going to do this subject justice—for instance, how nice it would be if we could have individuals who were really responding gathered together in one place, in more or less ideal circumstances for a solid year. No financial strain or environmental situation to pull you away, to take your undue attention, or outside world experience, but just go apart like that for one year, and in such an intensified period of training and instruction, etc., this that we are going to touch upon lightly would probably occupy our time and attention every day for about six months, and then I would not say that we could cover it completely in that time—an hour a day for six months. In one evening we shall have to be content with the high spots. Some of the things that we touch upon tonight we may have touched upon before. Some of them should be new to you.
We know that the world as it was first created, the Divine Estate, was one with Heaven—the world that then was and Heaven were One. There was no evil separating the two, and as Divine Man functioned it was in a full consciousness, or as full as might be necessary, of the activities of the Inner Planes; but when man fell and brought about the turmoil that has since existed, a division as far as man was concerned was established—a veil beyond which he could not penetrate. In the Motherland when man first fell, areas were set apart where the fallen ones were placed and a vibrational wall was established so that they could not go through that wall unless they responded to the Lord. It was impossible for them to penetrate that wall. As evil beings multiplied and increased it became necessary for those who remained in the Divine Estate to withdraw from the world because their presence gave fallen man undue privileges and opportunities—and number of things happened.
The wall that had separated fallen man from Divine Man, here on the surface of the earth, was simply moved to a point where it separated fallen man from the Inner Planes. The so‑called veil or point of separation that we now have between this outer world and the Inner Planes is identical in nature and structure to that wall that was used to confine the fallen ones in the first place to any allocated area in the earth's surface. That should open up something to you. These wayward ones could have walked out through that wall into the world of Divine Man at any time if they had been willing, completely, without any reservation, to let go of their evil ways and to harmonize in the ways of God. Since that is true, the same thing applies now. That should give you something to think about. The veil that was rent asunder in the Temple at the time of the crucifixion of Jesus is a symbol of the way the veil will be rent asunder in the world, opening up an interplay between Heaven and earth, the Inner and the outer planes. It will be because that veil is rent asunder that we can, in due season, see Jesus Christ and the Host that is with Him. This wall, this wall of limitation that was established around fallen man, and is the wall of limitation as far as God is concerned, is still established around fallen man.
When those who were functioning according to the Divine Estate withdrew, the greatest number of them—a few remained, a few went into what we might call Asia Minor at the present time, and a few remained in Atlantis, but the majority of them withdrew—that meant that the Cosmic Vibrations flowing into the world had to begin to function through the consciousness of fallen man, whereas before they had to function through the consciousness of Divine Man who was polarized in reality. The earth up to that point was polarized according to the way it was created, but when that Cosmic Force began to flow through fallen man, the earth itself was thrown out of polarity. The subterranean supports of Lemuria crumbled, and the Garden of Eden, amidst flames of fire that burst out of the bowels of the earth, vanished below the waters of the Pacific. The high points of the Motherland remained as the islands of the South Pacific. Australia, too, was a part of it, but it went completely under also and Australia did not come back until Atlantis went down a thousand years later. There you have an explanation of the deserts of Australia. It came up again when Atlantis went down.
So that portion that had been a part of the Garden of Eden was returned to man, but to a very great extent it was exceedingly barren. It was no longer the Garden that it once had been. Of course, various portions of various continents were beneath the waters during that interval also—the entire area known as the Sahara Desert is a point of illustration; and most of the State of California. What we know as Death Valley was all under the waters of the ocean. Various portions farther north and in the south were under water—in Arizona, New Mexico, and some of Texas. So this continent [North America] was to a very great extent submerged when Lemuria went down, and then it came back up again at the time of the sinking of Atlantis. There were large portions of the Orient as now known—the famous Gobi Desert—underneath the water for a thousand years. All this is interesting from the standpoint of geology, but it is basic in helping you to understand some of the things that happened, and some of the vibrations that work through human beings now. At the same time, whereas there had been slight seasonal changes—it had not all been just one monotonous day following day—there were some changes. The world's climate had been very nearly tropical up until that time. The extreme north country had animals that we would now find in the tropics—if there are any left; they were similar in nature. But when the earth shifted the extremes of seasons began to appear, and in the extreme cold of the north this water that was thrown out from the bowels of the earth, and came to surface of the earth for that period, froze in the extreme north.
The true teaching was retained in Atlantis, and Atlantis was given an opportunity to return to God. This great cataclysm that had overtaken the world should have made men and women turn to God. It did for a little while, but in Atlantis the machine age developed, a machine age that surpasses anything at the present time, and man depended upon the machine rather than upon God. And finally it reached a point where those Divine Men and Women who still remained as teachers in the world had to withdraw, because human beings insisted on walking in the way of evil rather than return to God. So they ascended, and the earth was thrown still further out of polarity, and this further shift in the earth's axis—not in the same direction as before—caused all of this ice that had been formed up here in this north country for a thousand years to begin to shift. It caused these various portions of the continents to rise up from underneath the water again, and it caused new mountains to appear, and it caused this great sheet of ice that had been established in the north—the land was lifted and the earth shifted on its axis—to come sliding down upon this continent here, and there immediately followed what has been called the Ice Age. The ice moved south on the earth and moved pretty well down into the States, as you know from your study of geology.
Now consider the areas that had been under the water. They were naturally without any population. Atlantis went down. Geographical changes took place all over the world and there were great tidal waves—the Great Flood. And you can readily recognize that there were very few people remaining upon the earth, and those who did remain were faced with living in entirely new conditions, new climates, without transportation, or any means of communication. There were just little groups here and there that survived and those that were not particularly hardy and strong and fit soon perished. There was a sheet of ice that had come down through this region here throwing things up in general. It was cold and miserable and there was not much to live for, you would say, in that day; but there were those who were obedient to the law of self-preservation.
However, within 500 years, roughly, the memory of Lemuria and Atlantis was virtually forgotten, though dim legends were passed down from generation to generation. Those who remained were forced to live like animals, under extremely difficult conditions. There we have, in that period of extreme hardship, what the archaeologist is inclined to call the days of the cave man, because it was in the caves that those who survived the catastrophe took refuge. There was a scarcity of food, there were wild animals, and only a few people survived. Those few began to gradually increase in numbers until finally man reached a point in his progress, some 5000 to 6000 years ago, where he began to record his doings. He developed systems of writing. There was a period of around 5000 years, from the time of the submersion of Atlantis and the catastrophe of this ice sheet, until human beings progressed sufficiently—in Egypt, for instance—to begin to make a written record. From that point on we have recorded history covering about the past 5000 years, but up to that point our ordinary histories have nothing to say. Here is a brief history, then, which goes back roughly over the last 25,000 years.
As man began to replenish the earth, God established a way by which he could again become aware of the things of God. In the Motherland there had been Seven Sacred Schools, but man had gone down to the very bottom and has been slowly coming up again from the days of the cave man. The First Sacred School was established by Melchizedek through Abraham, and then it was continued through Joseph and Moses, and the people were carried finally into the Promised Land. In this experience, through the portrayal of circumstances, the fundamental principles of the world release into reality were made manifest. But Israel, once in the Promised Land, everything going more or less nicely, became content and ceased to expand spiritually. Human beings do not seem to be able to stand prosperity. When everything is going nicely they turn away from God. They forget God until the days of adversity. And so, the children of Israel failed. The First Sacred School failed. Jesus came and established the Second Sacred School. This teaching was working from the basic standpoint of the mental approach so that the world could have been transformed and carried into the Ideal State at that time if the world had responded, but it would not. We find that by 300 A. D. the light that He had established was pretty well blotted out and for a thousand years of stagnation the world had to endure the Dark Ages. In the 13th century the expansion began to manifest; knowledge began to increase—the prophecy says that in the latter days knowledge should be increased and many should run to and fro. Satan was loosed, knowledge began to increase, and it has been increasing with intensified speed during the last 600 years. And so we come to the present.
Looking forward, we see that the same principle that was working at the time of the submersion of Atlantis and Lemuria must be reversed to bring the New Earth state into manifestation. “And I saw a new Heaven and a new Earth: for the first Heaven and the first earth were passed away, and there was no more sea.” What does it mean, there will be no more sea? It is because the continents that have been submerged are to arise. The earth is over three-quarters water now. It will be over three-quarters land. “... and the islands shall flee away.” How would an island flee away? The continents will arise. Where are the islands? They are the tops of undersea mountains. But it simply says that the continents shall arise. They will arise where the oceans are. That means that there must be established a dominant focal point of consciousness in the world which will, in due season, take over the control of the mass consciousness so that the Cosmic Vibrations will begin to work through the polarized consciousness of those on the earth, and that will throw the earth back into polarity. As that happens, the continents will arise. The earth will again be in position to be Eden, Paradise restored.
It will take a long time, comparatively speaking, from that time until the evil works of man will be eliminated from the face of the earth. The Bible specifies a period of about a hundred years—one hundred years of reconstruction after the earth has been thrown back into polarity, and after the continents have been brought back, and man is really functioning from the standpoint of the New Earth state. We see, then, that our own harmonization in right polarity, and what we do towards maintaining and establishing more fully that right polarization, is essential for the salvation of the world and for bringing the earth back into true polarity so that the New Earth can manifest. Someone has to do it—has to stand so steady, so constant, through the coming period of turmoil that the right polarity of consciousness will be established. When the evil forces of consciousness have crumbled by their own evil, the focal points of reality will be unveiled and will permit the Cosmic Forces to begin to right this wobbling old earth upon its axis, and then will come the beginning of the New Earth state.
Of what value is all of this to us here and now? It helps us to have a clearer understanding of what is taking place—what God has provided for the salvation of man and what is to take place. But we have definite problems to face. We are confronted with the necessity of living in the now. The First Sacred School and the Second Sacred School left records of activities which are of vital importance in working things out in this Third Sacred School. We could go back and study the various events, for instance, clear back to the time of Abraham, of Isaac, of Jacob and Joseph, as experienced in Egypt, and in all of those things we find correspondences to the activities of the present. It is of these things we would study fully if we had six months instead of just tonight, So, we are going to skip that part of it and come up to the point of the Second Sacred School, from the life of Jesus on, and consider that in relationship to the present, particularly the latter part of His activities on the earth. Just prior to His crucifixion, He was acclaimed by thousands, but as soon as there was a little questioning, somebody whispering and talking, someone not sure that it was wise to be seen with such a man, what happened to the thousands, the ones who had cried, “Hosanna to the King?” Where were they? Very discreetly they departed—discreetly according to their own human concept.
We could stop and consider Christianity, the modern church, as it is now known. I am not finding fault, I am pointing to the facts. But if all those who had classified themselves as Christians had been functioning according to what the Christ Life meant, do you think that the present circumstances would have worked out as they have? No. Christians were given an opportunity, as few people have been given in this modern day, to so live that the world could still have been carried into the New Earth state without complete world crucifixion. We see that—don't we? Millions who have been classifying themselves as Christians; nations who have been classifying themselves as Christian nations—and what has happened? We have millions crying, “Hosanna to the King.” Everything is lovely and they think they are going to get something for nothing; but when it comes to the pinch of everyday living, of really standing effectively, they discreetly depart, as in the days of old. They do not think.
If these millions had been functioning in the power of God, this old world could not be in the shape that it is now. So it is in the day-by-day activity that individually, and collectively, the peoples of the world have been judging themselves. And as it came close to the time of crucifixion in the world, the power of Christians, as such, was not very strong. The world war came, and so the crucifixion is in process and will continue until the end of the present conflict. The church has been on trial, everybody has been on trial, as Jesus was on trial. And you see how in the last few years, as Jesus was on trial back there, so have all the people on the face of the earth been on trial. As that trial miscarried insofar as justice and mercy were concerned, so came the beginning of the present conflict in the world. There are those who would like to say, “Oh, well, it was just Hitler and Mussolini,” and so on. It does not detract anything from the character of those individuals to recognize that they could never have gotten into power if that which was not like unto themselves was not in the nations. Just some puny individual over here, I do not care how vile he is, how scheming, he cannot work and climb to the top and get into power without degradation in the world. The very manifestation of such creatures does what? It condemns the world itself. The very fact that such creatures can manifest and go to the top shows the state of the world. It is not just those nations alone but all other nations too, because if greed and selfishness had not been working through all nations, such a thing could not come to pass. So, we are not dealing just with two or three individuals, we are dealing with the fundamental condition that contaminates humanity. How is this condition to be removed? Through this process of world crucifixion.
What happened after the crucifixion of Jesus? He was taken down from the cross. What is it that the world is being crucified on? On the cross of the self-willed human body and its lust and greed and everything else. Then after the crucifixion, what? The tomb. Do you think that just as soon as this crucifixion is over everything is going to be alright? No. They may have thought, everything is going to be alright, just as soon as we kill the Son of God. We will hang Him on the tree, and everything will be all over. They were not thinking, were they? The world hangs itself indeed. They thrust the sword into the side of Jesus. Today they thrust bayonets into their own sides.
Then comes the period of the tomb. We are in the period of the crucifixion now, [World War Two] and will be for some little time. I cannot tell you exactly how long. We can look for about one or two years longer of conflict—somewhere around that. There is nothing established about it. The period of the crucifixion will continue until then. But then the world is to be placed in the tomb, the world itself, because the blackness of the tomb will be engulfing this world more than ever, and it will be only those who are polarized in the Life, in the understanding of the things of God, in the realization of the Presence of God through the Father within, who will be able to carry through the period of the tomb and emerge victorious as Jesus did. The period of the tomb won't be over in a week or two—it will not be a short time; depending on how human beings react, it can be shorter or longer, but it will be a period of the tomb, and the things which Jesus prophesied will manifest still more fully then: famines, earthquakes in divers places, etc. You have noticed how in the last few years earthquakes have increased. The old earth is trembling on its axis, getting ready for the shaking on its foundations which will return it to right polarity. The period of the tomb will carry up to the time of the shift, and that will be the rolling away of the stone from the tomb when that takes place.
Comparatively few of the human beings now living will be able to carry through that period, but no one will be able to carry through unless—I am not saying all evil ones, because there will be some who are working contrary to the Will of God will carry through clear past that point—but insofar as we are concerned we recognize that to carry through successfully, through this period that is before us, we have to be polarized in the Source of Life, we have to be willing to work under limited conditions, we have to have our lives so fully dedicated to service that little else matters. And then we come to a time of a few years of world intense suffering—we are in it already actually. The Fire of God coming down from Heaven is devouring all the people of the world. Either we respond in love to it, or we fight against it and become destroyed.
One of the great questions is: Can we face these facts and consider these things and not become fearful? Does it make you afraid when we paint this picture as it is unfolding in the world, or can you look at it calmly, serenely, and say, “Let it come.” It is better to have these few years of intensive suffering and have it over with, than to continue for thousands of years, dragging out the misery. People are so prone to say, “Well, if we could just return to normal times.” What normal times? The best time you can mention in the scope of your memory in this present life, or back in recorded history? What shall we say, the boom of the twenties, many suffering, everybody stepping up on everybody else's neck? It was called wonderful times. But the world was full of rottenness. There was misery, suffering and death. What was so wonderful about those times? It is just a little worse now. It is a matter of degree. How true! We have not had any normal times since the time that man fell and we will not have any normal times until we get back to the Divine Estate. Well then, we are not looking for everything just to be OK as soon as the present conflict is over, and we know that misery, suffering and sorrow are going to continue until they are wiped out, and until the New Earth state emerges victoriously. It is that to which we look.
“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men.” (Revelation 21:1) Now we can take that statement as applying prophetically just to the period that is described; but if it was true then it must be true now—perhaps not seen just as fully. The Tabernacle of God is with men, and has been all the time. All men have to do is to see it. What is this new Jerusalem? It is the new spiritual consciousness, the understanding of Divine things as seen from the spiritual standpoint. Instead of looking at it from the old standpoint—external effects—we are looking at it from the new standpoint. To the degree that you actually function according to the principles of the Third Sacred School, you are letting the Fire of Heaven come down, letting the New Jerusalem manifest. The New Jerusalem is the new spiritual consciousness. It is taking place just to the degree that it is permitted to, but ultimately it will take place in all the world.
In the past, people have looked at things from the physical and mental standpoint. Now, making an adjustment, we are looking at things from the spiritual standpoint, from the standpoint of spiritual perception, the point of attunement between man and God, to stand in the Holy Place. We see that as we let this New Jerusalem come down from God out of Heaven—what takes place? All the former things are caused to pass away. We are not trying to maintain the former things. We are not struggling for the former things. Yes, for an examination of the things that were before the fall of man, we have to look back a long way; and we are working in the present so that we may have a part in that fulfillment. “Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are faithful and true.”
Has this review of the world’s history helped you? Do you begin to see more fully what the life of Jesus means to us in this period? Can you see how this is the period of the crucifixion—and then the tomb? After Jesus arose there was a period before they recognized Him. Mary Magdalene saw Him, but did not recognize Him. So then, after this period there will be a time of adjustment, but finally the people will be able to see Him as He is. And that is what is called the second coming of Jesus, when the people can see Him as He is, and when the veil is seen to be rent in twain. It is already rent in twain, but does not seem to be. And so, we see how He pictured for us the days that are at hand, and how it will be after the world resurrection into the New Earth state. The stone is thrown away from the tomb, the world is thrown back into polarity, for the former things are passed away. Is this pleasing to you, although all around is darkness? Is that a beautiful picture instead of the darkness that is between this point and that goal? The old world won't let it be any quicker or better. The days are to be shortened for the elect's sake. It will be shortened as much as possible. But the world will have to learn to let go of the unreal, let it crumble. We must not cling to it. We will have to realize it and let it go. Isn't that right? If we cling to it we will be carried out with it. Is that a hard doctrine? It is the Doctrine of Love. You are to serve God, and others likewise. We are asked to respond to the LORD in Love, but we cannot save the individual who will not let himself be uplifted. Each must make his own choice. We cannot make it for others.
It seems to me that as we have been able to go over this rather rapidly, we should close with something we have heard before. Some things are always new, and to me that holds true for the 91st Psalm [read by Uranda]. This is a beautiful poem and such a revelation of the Way, the Truth, and the Life. In the days to come, of the world's passage through the tomb, if the pressure becomes too great, it is very good to turn to that Psalm and remember; and as you read it or think about it, you will be able, in spirit, to return to this hour, this moment, and to hear it again as we consider the Way of God together—to hear it again as it has been expressed tonight. There are such depths in it, such lovely promises, such power. This is a benediction to you and to your household. Until I return, will you remember that poem and keep it close to your heart?

Authority and Direction of Melchizedek
Uranda July 11, 1944
The purpose of this Service is to provide a clarification of the Teaching of the Third Sacred School as it relates in function and manifestation to the First and Second Sacred Schools, all three of which date back in vibrational foundation to the Motherland, or the Edenic State, as God first established it in the earth. Information concerning what is commonly called the pre‑historic period, as presented in the Third Sacred School, is not dependent upon mythology, although mythology lends abundant evidence of the authenticity of that which is presented. Neither is it dependent upon legend, although many legends springing from the dim antiquity of time point with clarity, for all those who read the symbolism aright, to the fact that what is sometimes called antediluvian history must be considered in terms of thousands of years rather than of the short period commonly conceived to be correct by reason of Biblical chronology. It must be remembered that generally accepted historical records which are commonly known of by the masses of people are largely limited to the last 5,000 years. It does not in any sense deny the authenticity of the Bible to recognize that Biblical chronology, as more or less arbitrarily applied by most scholars to the early part of world history as presented in Genesis, is not correct and is, in fact, very misleading. This is not a refutation of the Bible, but rather, a refutation of the chronology more or less arbitrarily established in relationship to the Bible.
It will be recalled that we have already emphasized the fact that the first nine chapters of the Bible cover a period from the beginning of the creation of this world to the time of the death of Noah. The tenth chapter of Genesis is devoted to an outline of the generations of the sons of Noah, and in the twenty-sixth verse of the eleventh chapter we have the beginning of the story of Abraham. The story from the time of Abraham to the present is reasonably complete. The remainder of the Bible covers a period of a little over 2,000 years. Whatever period of time is conceived to have elapsed prior to the time of Abraham is covered in ten short chapters, but it took almost the entire Bible to cover the period of time from Abraham to the days when the New Testament events took place nearly 2,000 years ago. Even Biblical chronology over a period of nearly 2,000 years is covered in these ten chapters, and the next 2,000 years involve the rest of the Bible. It is obvious, then, that those who insist on accepting the usual Biblical chronology must admit, at least, that the Biblical history covering the period prior to the time of Abraham is extremely sketchy. We cannot accept the idea that creation of this world began only about 6,000 years ago, and while there may be some religionists who still hold to such a belief, the preponderance of evidence from the standpoint of nature, from the standpoint of historical records unearthed during the last 50 years, and from the standpoint of an unbiased consideration of the Bible itself, indicates that a much longer period of time in world history preceded the advent of Abraham. On the other hand, we do not accept the idea that millions of years have elapsed, as is commonly taught from a so-called scientific standpoint. All of the phenomena used to support the theory that millions of years have elapsed are easily and correctly understood once the fundamentals of the factual history of the world, as related to the period prior to Abraham's time, are grasped by the student.
More than once the question has been asked as to what Biblical authority we have for that which we teach concerning the history of the world prior to the time of Abraham. That we have Biblical authority goes without saying, but it is not offered here because the student must first grasp the fundamentals of the Teaching before he can understand that which the Bible actually reveals on this point. All of the scientific discoveries in the fields of archeology and geology, when correctly understood, correlate perfectly with that which is actually revealed by the Bible, and all these sources of information correlate with history as known and presented in the Third Sacred School. For practical reasons, which should be obvious in view of the fact that we are dealing with a vast period of time, the history of which is unknown to the world as a whole, we decline to deal more explicitly with the question of the source of the historical presentation concerning the period in question until the student is advanced sufficiently to allow him to perceive the facts for himself.
It must be recognized by the student that, roughly speaking, the advent of man into the world through creation took place a little over 150,000 years prior to the time of Abraham, and that when God first created man and placed him in the earth, man was fully instructed concerning all phases of knowledge necessary to man's perfect function, physically, mentally and spiritually. In the period preceding the fall of man, God established through Divine Man a system of education which was designed to provide full understanding of all things needful to man in all three phases of his being throughout the period of this world's existence. The basic principles of the educational system then established have been retained in the outworking of the Divine Plan for man as established and set in motion at the time of man's fall, and have continued until the present time. It must be recognized that the Divine Plan originally established for Divine Man did not anticipate, or provide for, the fall of man, but when man fell the Divine Plan was rearranged, retaining the same fundamentals in all respects, with a view to the restoration of man to his Divine Estate in a manner which would permit the Original Plan to be carried on effectively from the time when restoration should be accomplished. This must be understood, in principle at least, in order to allow a basic understanding of the place which the Third Sacred School holds in the Cosmic Order of things. Time and space do not permit us at this point to deal more than briefly with the educational system and program which was in operation prior to the time of the fall of man. This Divine educational system that was in operation prior to the fall of man was carried on through the means of what we properly call Seven Sacred Schools, which had their vibrational foundation in the Seven Planes of this Whole, Holy World. These Seven Sacred Schools of the Motherland of man, or the Garden of Eden, were the seats of learning and all government—all educational instruction issued forth from these Seven Sacred Schools, and they were in actuality the controlling factors in all phases of life, including that which we would describe as religion and government. Under this system of function the whole world was populated and the whole world was governed.
It should be remembered that in this period the preponderance of earth's surface was land, as the preponderance of the earth's surface is now water. Other instruction papers deal with the process of the fall and the geographical changes which took place, but in relationship to our present subject matter it must be recalled that in a period of 7,000 years, dating from the time of the fall, these Seven Sacred Schools originally established by God as a means of providing all educational facilities and government for man, were temporarily withdrawn from manifestation in the earth, culminating in the submersion of Lemuria, or that which is described in the Bible as Adam and Eve being driven from the Garden of Eden. About 1,000 years later the continent of Atlantis submerged beneath the waters of what we now call the Atlantic Ocean, as described and alluded to in the Biblical story of the flood, and the scattered remnants of humanity who survived these cataclysmic changes were forced by circumstance and violent climatic changes to subsist under what we would classify as primitive conditions closely akin to the state of the animal world. This, then, which took place about 12,000 years ago produced what is commonly thought of as the cave man era. From this low point to which man had descended by the process of devolution, it took about 5,000 years of what we may call evolution for man to reach a point where we have the beginnings of recorded history as generally known in relationship to the Egyptian period. This carries us up to the beginning of history as generally recognized.
It should be easily seen that it would be necessary that the Sacred Schools which had been temporarily withdrawn from manifestation would have to be re-established in the earth in their natural order, and the outworking of man's progress in world events did not permit the beginning of this phase of the fulfilment of the Divine Plan for the fallen world until the time of Abraham, during whose lifetime Melchizedek appeared. It is obvious from all Biblical references to Melchizedek that he was the highest of Divine Beings who functioned in relationship to this world, and it should not be difficult to comprehend that the one who manifested as Melchizedek later manifested as Jesus the Christ. In connection with our distinction between the Supreme Divine Being connected with this world, and other members of the One Body of God, it should be understood that this relates to the fact that there are many other worlds peopled and under the jurisdiction of Divine Beings, and that it would be an assumption of the most egotistical sort to imagine that this is the only world in all of the Cosmos which is peopled, or which relates to the outworking of the Divine Order, through the administration of Divine Beings. Therefore, when we speak of the One God Whom we all recognize, we realize that the Divine Beings connected with the function and manifestation of the other worlds in the Universe and in the Cosmos, are members of the One God Body just as surely as are the Divine Beings who administer the Divine affairs of this world.
The foregoing clearly refutes the false assumption which has been made on the part of some that the Third Sacred School must, in some manner, purport to be higher or more advanced than the First or Second Sacred Schools, merely because it is designated as the Third Sacred School. If the First and Second Sacred Schools had not been established and in manifestation, the Third could not have been brought forth. The work of establishing the First Sacred School was the most difficult of all, because it was a beginning, in outer manifestation, without any historical background in the period immediately preceding, or known to man in general, so that it could have been accomplished in no way other than it was accomplished, namely, through the ministrations of Melchizedek, who was manifest in the earth—without father, without mother, and without end of days. There is no record in any part of Biblical history of a more marvelous and wonderful Divine manifestation in the earth, and it was, simply, a manifestation of the LORD of Lords and KING of Kings whom we know in the New Testament period as Jesus the Christ, who came into the world through the operation of Divine laws without the medium of a physical body produced by the process of conception and birth, or limited by the processes of decrepitude and death. Only by means of such a Divine manifestation could the beginning processes of re-manifestation of the Seven Sacred Schools be brought about in the earth under conditions that then existed. Certainly, then, in so far as the world now is, the process by which the First Sacred School was again established in the earth must be recognized as being supreme, and even more beyond the comprehension of the human mind, than was the manifestation and function of Jesus Christ. It must be understood that the First Sacred School established by Melchizedek through the responsive co-operation of Abraham, extended in its dominant influence in the world until the time of the dispersion of the Israelites; in other words, it includes and contains within itself all that took place in revelation and function through Jacob, through Joseph, through Moses, through the Judges, through David and Solomon, through Elijah and Elisha and Daniel, and through all of the faithful Prophets of the Old Testament.
As we have already recognized that it was necessary that the Sacred Schools be re-established in their chronological order, it must also be recognized that they had to be established in accordance with their vibrational order relating to the Seven Planes of Being. These requirements were fulfilled in each instance. Through the First Sacred School established by Melchizedek and carried forward so effectively by Moses and the faithful Ones who followed after him, there was provided a means whereby the mass body of a selected portion of humanity could have returned immediately to the Edenic State if they had remained steadfast and true to God, thereby opening the way whereby the world as a whole could have been restored to the Edenic State en masse. This certainly must be classified as the greatest opportunity accorded to man since the day of the fall until this present time, and was the greatest undertaking from the standpoint of man that could possibly have been inaugurated. When the selected portion of the world body failed to carry through, and the immediate program under the First Sacred School could not be brought to fruition, the vibrational basis of the Second Sacred School had to be resorted to. But this does not mean that the basic vibrational function of the First Sacred School was lost to the world—for it was, and still is, providing a basic foundation for all that has, or will, come after it. When man failed to take advantage of the opportunities afforded by the First Sacred School, it became necessary for Jesus Christ to manifest in the world, to bring into manifestation the function and vibrational basis of the Second Sacred School.
The life and ministry of Jesus and that which is recorded in the New Testament period all relates thereto, and provides the immediate foundation for all of the spiritually progressive activities in the world today. While the work of establishing the Second Sacred School was more painful, it was not as difficult a task in one sense of the word as was the work of establishing the First Sacred School; but in both instances the work was so difficult and so gravely important to the world that it could be entrusted to no one but the LORD of Lords Himself. In the opportunity afforded by the life ministry of Jesus Christ through His work in establishing the Second Sacred School, the field was narrowed down from the broad scope that was utilized in the First Sacred School, which had provided the easiest process of response from the standpoint of humanity, to the field of what we classify as the mental. I would here point out that because it is so classified a few persons who are ignorant of the outworking of the Divine Plan have jumped to the false conclusion that we were relegating the work of Jesus Christ to something below the Spiritual vibration classification which is utilized in relation to the Third Sacred School. Such an idea is completely false. The First Sacred School, while utilizing the basic vibrations of physical response, in the primary sense, certainly included in every respect all that is properly classified as the mental and the spiritual. When humanity rejected this easy way, the next more difficult way had to be resorted to—and when I speak of it as being difficult here, I have reference only to humanity's opportunities therein, and not to the difficulties involved in establishing the Second Sacred School. Melchizedek had the most difficult task, but he provided humanity with the easiest possible way of restoration. Jesus Christ had almost as difficult a task and one that was more painful, in establishing the Second Sacred School, and He provided the next easiest way of direct approach from the standpoint of humanity as a whole. That which Jesus Christ established is still in force, and no one who has any understanding of the work of the Third Sacred School has ever supposed, for even a fraction of a second, that the Third Sacred School or those who function therein supersede in any manner whatsoever the work of Jesus Christ, for we recognize Him as LORD of Lords and KING of Kings, and have never at any time suggested that the Third Sacred School or any individual in it was equal to, let alone above or beyond, that which was made manifest in and through our Beloved Master, Jesus Christ.
While Jesus Christ was on earth, a means was provided by which the world could have been restored to the Edenic State at that time, so that Jesus Himself would not have been crucified, and so that the intervening 2,000 years of misery, suffering and death could have been avoided by humanity as a whole. When the world rejected that which Jesus Christ offered, and crucified Him, the third alternative Plan had to come into effect, and Jesus Christ Himself established the authorization and provided the direction for the outworking on the basis of the third alternative Plan. But, by reason of the fact that He was crucified by the world, and by reason of the fact of that which He had provided for the world, both in teaching and actual manifestation of vibrational function according to the Divine Order, it was not necessary that He assume personal responsibility in outer manifestation for the establishment of the Third Sacred School. The processes of bringing the Third Sacred School again into manifestation could be, and were, delegated to a subordinate by Jesus Christ Himself. However, by reason of the world's rejection of Jesus Christ, the second alternative Plan ceased to be available to man in the very hour when Jesus was crucified on Calvary, and the third alternative Plan has been in effect since that hour, and it utilizes the approach to the Divine on a vibrational basis of spiritual response as the starting point. Here we have the first three of the seven Planes as manifest in this world on a vibrational basis represented in the manifestation and function of the First Three of the Sacred Schools.
The Fourth Sacred School will not be brought into manifestation until after the restoration of man to the Edenic State. Man must come through the program provided on the Third Plane Vibration, or not at all. In this connection, it is necessary to point out that every church and all individuals who honestly and sincerely seek to follow Jesus Christ, to do His Will, and who desire to receive that which Jesus Christ offered to the world, are, to the degree that they are correct in their understanding of that which Jesus Christ taught and accomplished, in the Third Sacred School already, and this has been true since the moment when Jesus Christ Himself recognized that the third alternative Plan would have to be utilized—and therefore authorized the Beloved Disciple John as the Head thereof in the earth, while He Himself was on the cross. Jesus did not give that Authorization prior to the time that He was on the cross, because up until that moment humanity had the opportunity of responding on the basis of the second alternative Plan. The moment He was on the cross humanity lost that opportunity, and from that moment onward the third alternative Plan was in effect. So it is that the re-manifestation of the Third Sacred School, which vibrationally dates back to the period of the Edenic State long before the fall of man, has been in actual existence by decree and authority of Jesus Christ since the hour when He was crucified on Calvary. It is under this Authority, and on a Vibrational Foundation dating into antiquity more than 150,000 years ago, that the Third Sacred School is now operating in the world, that all who will may know the whole truth and be set completely free, according to the promise of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Master. The history of the world since the time of the crucifixion of Jesus down through the dark ages to the present time, as it relates to the manifestation and function of the Third Sacred School, is a vast subject which has been touched upon to a degree in other writings, and which we must now leave for further elucidation until another time.

Glory All The Way

There were many remarkable revelations of the reality of Shekinah at the time of the Master's birth, but the central key is the Angels' Song: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” Let us look at this expression from the standpoint of reality, with the eye of the heart. “Glory to God in the highest.” What is the Glory? The Shekinah Cloud of Glory. Glory to God in the highest. That carries to the Highest Focalization of Deity, going beyond the range of human consciousness or awareness. Glory to God in the Highest. And the expression was made in relationship to those who dwell on earth. So if there was a recognition of Glory to God in the Highest, we see with the eye of the heart how there was a Great Cone allowed to settle down over the earth, the base of it enfolding the earth as in a net, and the point of it extending upward to God in the Highest. And what is it that shapes this? What is it that gives it form? Glory—the Shekinah Cloud of Glory. And it was brought to the earth, enfolding man, centered on earth in the babe that was born. Glory to God in the highest signifies that the Cloud of Glory, made manifest to man through the form of the babe that was to become a Man, extended to God in the Highest—that there was no break, no point of separation, no veil, except the inability of human beings to see. The Cloud of Glory, the Shekinah, extended to the earth, enfolding the earth and carrying to God in the Highest. Glory all the way. The Shekinah Cloud of Glory here, and all the Way to God in the Highest. And then, when that is a reality, what does follow? “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth”—enfolded in the Shekinah Glory something begins to manifest. “Peace on earth, good will toward men.” The coming of the Master was the Supreme Gesture from God, the zenith of God's Gift of Love to man—and only in relationship to Love can there be peace—and it is clearly indicated it was on earth, and the Supreme Gesture of goodwill.
