The Accuser Cast Out Forever

John — We bring our untroubled hearts and serene minds with us as we come together now. This place in consciousness where we gather is a holy place. This is the Temple of Light. Welcome! Forever-friend Louise Broomberg and I have opportunity to co-present this morning from Southern California and this evening from Johannesburg, South Africa, respectively—places on almost opposite sides of the planet geographically but both here and now spiritually.
We will be sharing the reading of Martin Exeter’s service of November 25th 1984, “The Accuser Cast Out Forever,” and offering some additional words. On the original occasion, Martin referenced a well-known portion of Chapter 12 of the Book of Revelation, beginning with the 7th verse: “And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,”
Louise — “and prevailed not; neither was their place found anymore in heaven.”
John — “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”
Louise — “And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.”
John — “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”
Louise — “Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe unto the inhabitants of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.”
Louise read the first half of transcript, and John read the second half of transcript.
Louise — Thank you, John. “We are currently far distant in miles but very, very close in spirit, close in heaven…” I'm certainly feeling that. I happened to be living at Fourways in Johannesburg and was present at the time this service was given. I'm feeling the expansiveness of what we were about that does transcend time and distance. And here we are together in this moment. What a joy!
In 1984 apparently the famine in Africa was in focus. Martin spoke about “all kinds of troubles in the world, tribulation, suffering…” but has there ever been a year since the beginning of time, that there weren't trials and tribulations and suffering on earth? It's the nature of this man-made world. David Barnes summed it up in an email he sent me recently: “the world burns on multiple fronts—fear, hate, violence, racism, pandemic ills, raging wildfires, political chaos, financial inequality, arrogant entitlement…” And we can keep going. So this is the state of the world we find ourselves in, and here we are in this place of heaven.
What is in one’s own vicinity seems to loom large. I am now living back in South Africa, and our version of the trials and tribulations was added to with an attempted coup a few weeks ago. Some of you might have seen the harrowing images of looting and pillaging and massive destruction that was shown on news media around the world. The two most populous provinces of Gauteng (Johannesburg) and KwaZulu Natal (Durban) were particularly targeted. It was scary and horrific at the time, and we didn’t quite know how it would end up. But, fortunately, it was brought under control within a week, which was pretty amazing. That was followed by scenes of the indomitable South African spirit coming to the fore, and people of all colors and backgrounds coming together to clean up the mess. There were inspiring acts of heroism and kindness and an upsurge of goodwill and hope. It was wonderful and heartwarming and certainly to be celebrated. But it does beg the question: Hope for what? That we will get things back to “normal?” Back to the way they were? That we will get a better version of human nature in place so we can return to familiar comfort zones? We know that human nature itself is the problem. Whether deemed good or bad, human nature is fickle, unreliable and untrustworthy and the accuser looms large in all of it.
The only answer lies in upward orientation, in heaven. We are the answer—providing that reality of heaven in our own hearts and minds and living so the call can go out within the range of human experience: “Come out of her my people!” We all heard the call along the way—I know that is true for everybody on this call and many others. We are the ones who were drawn together into the Emissary ministry, the spiritual body, EDL. I was reminded of how I responded to the call back along the way. I’ll share a little of my experience. I was living in Johannesburg at the time (1977). I'd known the Emissaries for a few months and signed up for a one-week class to be held at the farm that we had, Helenasvlei, in the Cape. I was driving with a friend of mine who was also going to the class, and as we drove over the mountain pass towards our destination, I felt mounting pressure and trepidation. I confessed to her that I was feeling quite nervous and she said, “I’m terrified!” We both knew that something momentous was about to happen.
After stopping at the local hotel for a couple beers to get our courage up, we eventually did arrive at Helenasvlei. It was beautiful place and there was a wonderful group of people there and the class was great. But it was in the last class on that last day when we heard the recording of “Coming Home” that knocked my socks off. I remember walking out of the class stunned, with Uranda’s words ringing in my ears and heart: “What is your quitting point? If you have a quitting point that is where you cease to be a man or a woman and you become a member of the body of the beast.” Those words were branded in fire on my heart that day. It was a call for an uncompromising commitment. That is what got to me. It was a defining moment in my life. So of course the holiday plans in Cape Town got scrapped. I stayed on at Helenasvlei, attended the two-week Class which was being held the following January, and I actually never left for the next 20 or so years—not all of it at Helenasvlei but in various Emissary communities or communal homes, and I became a full-time committed member of this Emissary program. In my mind I’d interpreted Uranda’s words as, “Don't quit EDL; if you do, that is when you cease to be a man or a woman.”
I have no doubt that there was something right about that commitment and loyalty to EDL along the way, where absolute commitment, loyalty and obedience were required. It was the best training imaginable to prepare us for our commission as emissaries of divine light—to align with Michael and his angels. As Martin said in this service, “I will tell you something about the past: Everything that has occurred up to this very moment has been absolutely perfect. It has brought us all to this present moment… If any smallest element in our experience in the past had been omitted whether we judged it to be good or bad who can say as to whether we would be exactly here where we are now?”
There did come a time when things changed in the organizational aspect of EDL, and I wasn't sure what I was being loyal to anymore. I have since listened again to “Coming Home.” Here is what Uranda actually said: “What is your quitting point? The point where sacred things are not worth it anymore?… Let ‘em go smash. That is the point you cease to be a man or woman and become a member of the body of the beast… The quitting point is where sacred things are not held sacred…” He was talking about honoring our heavenly Father and Mother—Love and Truth. That is what is sacred. The accuser simply cannot exist in the presence of Love—and if accusation, blame and criticism do show up, then sacred things are being trampled on. If I indulge in judgements of any kind about how I think people or things should or shouldn’t be, then I am dishonoring the Truth. From my limited perspective, how do I know anything? So how can I possibly judge anything?
I’d like to read from a letter I received in 1978 from my father, Harold Broomberg:
“You must surely be aware of my daily Thanksgiving prayers for your emergence into the realm of light and reality. I can't begin to tell you how excited I am by what is happening to you and others like you. It is because of what you are becoming that I know that there is hope for the world…
“The present moment of awareness (which means the ever-present moment) is the most exciting and important that you will ever know. Having set your compass bearing, just stay on course, through all weathers and conditions. Things really are working out perfectly!…
“… I see only a cleansing process going on—a breaking down of conditions which have kept our fellowmen entombed for so long. The disintegration is nothing more than a breaking down of a scab encrustation on the body.”
To give you some context: we had a farm and small country inn, the Gwaai River Hotel, in the northwest part of Zimbabwe near Victoria Falls and Hwange Game Reserve. The hotel was the hub for a substantial farming community. In 1978 the country was still Rhodesia and the guerilla/bush war, which had been going on for a number of years, was at its height. All the farms were under constant threat of attack and there was considerable tension and uncertainty.
My father had never attended an Emissary class or lived in an Emissary community, and for the sixty years I knew him, he was one of the clearest, most unwavering emissaries of divine light I have ever known. Earlier that year the hotel had been attacked, and a mortar rocket landed in the office where he was sitting, causing considerable damage to the room but miraculously leaving him unharmed. And still he didn’t waver in his attitude of calm assurance, perfect trust that “things really are working out perfectly.” He was a source of strength and inspiration to many—a living example what it takes to be a beacon of enfolding radiance in every circumstance, transcending organization.
So it is good to honor him today, and everyone and everything that has brought us to this perfect moment to continue doing what we came to do. I offer profound and eternal thankfulness for all of it.
John — Thank you, Louise. I was privileged to know your father briefly.
The heaven we maintain is not locational and it is not temporal; it is undimensional, but it is here and now. You mentioned, Louise, that as you were heading off to that one week seminar years ago you felt something momentous happening. We might tend to be more aware of the momentous when we feel personally affected, but something vastly momentous is happening everywhere right now!
We recognize that it wasn’t Jesus’s intention to initiate Christian religions, but to inspire and lead people into the experience of true spiritual identity. Likewise, I say it was not Uranda’s intention to establish Emissaries of Divine Light as a self-perpetuating organization, but to inspire and lead people into the experience of true spiritual identity. An organization can be vital to serving that purpose, but, as we well know, “emissary of divine light” is a functional description of personal responsibility—to be a bringer, a carrier, an expresser, of the spirit of God on earth. Uranda could have named the church corporations he started something like “The Lucifer Legion,” but then that probably wouldn’t have gone over very well. Far more people associate the word Lucifer with the devil than with the term’s literal meaning of “light bearer.” A legion, by the way, is an assemblage of chosen ones.
However many years ago it was when you and I began to consciously awaken, we were then in the process of emerging from a rather material/mental sense of self, oriented in the world of form. Having it in us to be spiritually responsive—something we, humanly speaking, cannot take credit for, by the way—we felt compelled to move toward the light we saw in expression through others. The EDL organization, with its leaders and its communities and classes and centers and groups, facilitated and hastened this awakening experience. For us, it made it possible. I could not be more thankful for every little bit of my experience along the way!
Spiritual education is no less important for awakening ones today, but that’s another topic. Looking at our Zoom rectangles on my computer screen now, we all appear at least somewhat senior. Most, maybe all of us, had considerable spiritual education in EDL in the past, perhaps now in the long-ago past. Pamela and I went to “long class” on Sunrise Ranch in 1971—50 years ago! It’s where and how and why we met, by the way.
At various times, Martin likened the EDL organization to a spiritual university from which we graduate into the real world, or as a family nest in which we are nurtured while growing into adulthood. The point has always been to come into our own, in experienced identity as divine beings in human form. Within EDL we learned love and loyalty in the process, coming to realize over time that it wasn’t really loyalty to an organization as such but to the eternal reality of God.
Martin said, and Louise reiterated, “I will tell you something about the past: Everything that has occurred up to this very moment has been absolutely perfect. It has brought us all to this present moment where we have the opportunity of letting the accuser be cast out.” The spirit back of those words resounds in the holy place now. When this truth is fully accepted and deeply internalized—it was all perfect—anything anyone may have felt hurt by, anything—real or imagined—anyone else did or said, it all just drops away. We may be able to recall this or that, but there is no emotion attached to the memory. The former things pass away; they have no place in the Holy Place.
A while ago I awoke one morning with some loud words ringing in my mind. The Lord said, “Don’t you dare accuse or blame my responding ones, ever!” Every person who ever has or had the quality of heart to hear the tone of life and be drawn to it, is precious to the Lord—beyond words to describe. All of these extraordinary ones who live and breathe in human bodies form a legion of angels on earth, angels the Lord has sent “with a great sound of a trumpet, and they [and we are among the they]… gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” [Matthew 24:31-33]
We are among those who have been gathered, yes, but being an emissary of divine light involves much more than that! We are in turn sent to gather more elect. By that I don’t imply going out and holding public meetings—the gathering is done in heaven. The Lord’s compelling invitation happens mostly in and then out through our hearts. But we cannot be gatherers of the Lord’s most precious ones if we still harbor the accuser of our brethren. For you and me, the gathering together we are ordained to do begins with our fellow “gatherees”—the diverse legion composed of every person ever associated with EDL, for starters. “Uh oh,” some might think. “Among that group are people I never liked or who did things I didn’t approve of.” Well, if any of that sort of thing is still hanging around, isn’t it time to say, “So what?” to those accusations and focus on what’s so, now? Yes, it is!
“What therefore God hath joined together let not man put asunder.” [Mark 10:9] People usually associate that verse from Mark with wedding ceremonies, but it has far larger meaning too. This holy legion that God hath drawn together on earth, let not accusing men and women put asunder!
Maybe we used to think of the more conscious part of that legion as being EDL, and while that was true it was never solely EDL, was it? Not at all. Am I less spiritually conscious today than I was back in the past? I bet most of us would profess to be more conscious, right? The Lord’s legion is vast and the creative process we steward truly momentous. The accuser may have seemed sly and subtle back along the way, but as the accusing habit is purged from our hearts we see how gross and dark that whole state is, and we judge it not, nor one another.
Anne Blaney — Thank you Louise and John, and everyone, because something significant has obviously been happening through all of us during this time. My thoughts and feelings have definitely been activated in this substance. I was thinking about radiation-response. I was also thinking about the angel and the facilities of the angel—and how those dichotomies come into union as one. I found myself asking, “What and who is it that responds?” An individual angel has at its disposal the atoms and molecules of the physical package, which we call “me.” I've picked up this (indicating my body) for this incarnation. It is this package that actually is responding to this angel. These moving molecules and atoms are very flexible, and can configure in many ways. But to what, and to whom can this package, these capacities respond, along the way?
In this gathering, I would say that initially we all had the experience of responding to an external point—a person, an organization, and the capacities configured, blended in a unified way with that external point. For many, that external point could have been a “server.” For everyone, we come into union with many ideas or external forms. We may have come into union with, say, the Boys Scouts. There is always a resulting heaven created out of every particular union we enter. In our primary example, coming into union with this spiritual body, that union immediately activated, and continues to activate, a whole network of similarly attuned beings. It all lights up, and unifies with many other points involved. We experience a larger heaven into which we connected, with all sorts of different levels of Being. If we were to say, join the Boy Scouts, or a political party, and come into union with those particular heavens, that might be just fine for that experience. But I suggest there is a longing on the part of the angel here, who is burning, burning in angelic fire that propels these capacities to come into union with another quality of heaven. I think that's what happened to us; we came into union with a very specific heaven of this spiritual body.
Perhaps part of that blending had a component of joining the Boy Scouts. Part of what we blended with was an earthly organization, in this case a very useful organization: EDL. The individuals, the atoms and molecules involved, organized around the angelic nucleus. They were people, and they moved and configured in various ways. But there was an ultimate union that was actually available, behind the scenes, behind the forms, and that's what we've been talking about here today, what was available for each angel to come into union with, beyond the more obvious appearances. I note the incredible beauty in the freedom of the capacities to choose what it comes into union with. When we do find union with the angel who we are, individually and collectively, it activates the many other angels who you and I are together, and a much greater heaven is known, and expanded. Perhaps this sounds kind of esoteric but that's what was stimulated in my thinking in our movement together this morning.
Millicent Holliday — I've also so enjoyed our time together, and loved the trip you took with us Louise, down memory lane. I was also at Fourways when that service was given. I had just touched into the ministry, and I was elected to babysit James Maskell while Rupert and Tessa were visiting. In light of what has already been said I was thinking how amazing it is that the Bible starts with… “In the beginning was the Word” or maybe it's the beginning of the Book of John, I always get that wrong, but I think it was John who said “In the beginning was The Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”. Today I feel that what we have experienced is the Word of God, and the Word has a resonance to it which is so distinct, which has called us, and woken us, and drawn all things to remembrance.
I feel privileged to be a South African. In 1984 we were at one level of the spiral, now thank God for the Word of Truth, we have ascended. I wouldn't say considerably, but somewhat on that spiral. I left South Africa in 1985, I was attending a one week class at Fourways when a friend of mine called me and asked if I’d help him deliver as yacht from Cape Town to Fort Lauderdale. Absolutely I said, because I knew that Uranda and Martin's ministry was focused in the United States and I knew that I just had to learn more about it. So Louise our hearts burned as one.
I have delighted in the South African spirit these past few week when all the rioting and destruction was happened in South Africa, and my family were very much in the thick of it. In all our communication via WhatsApps and phone calls, they did not speak of the danger that was imminent, but rather they spoke of the spirit of union that was happening in the country. Throughout the country people came together—Muslims, Christians, Africans, Afrikaaners, Englishmen, all getting along together, communing in heart felt ways with one another, while keeping their neighborhoods safe as best they could. Indomitable spirits, that were more concerned to extend the current of brotherly love, than to extend one of accusation, and I felt proud of my people.
What a joy it is to participating in what we have today, it fills my heart with delight that we can be in one accord, in one place, and that our concern is that the accuser of our brethren be truly cast down in these days, in our own experience. While I was preparing to come to this gathering this morning the words of the song “Come and Behold Him” written by Martin, and Lillian came to mind; and I sense today in this Temple of Light gatherings that we have had the opportunity to, Come and Behold Him. To come and behold those who carry the essence of our King, essences we extend into our worlds. We recognize one another, we love working with one another, and because we express the Truth of Love there is union, fusion. Thank you Louise and John for this exquisite time of communion with the One we love and serve, our Lord and King.
Linda Bahan — Another South African would like to speak directly to Louise. I was in that One Week Class with you in 1977 having been introduced to the Emissaries just a couple of months before. I had an awakening during that same audio of Uranda that you referenced. As I recall, Rupert asked that we take notes to keep our minds focused. After we had heard the audio I apologized to Rupert for not being able to take notes because all I could think about while Uranda was speaking was I know this voice; I’ve heard this voice before. Hearing Uranda’s voice was like having a gong hit inside of me that has never stopped reverberating. I knew I had the responsibility to allow that resonating sound inside of me be expressed louder and louder through my own living experience. John likened the EDL organization to a nest where we were all nurtured. I look at all of you who are here today and so many of us were nurtured and grew up together in these “nests”. I just had to add my voice in saying that I’m glad so many of us are still together doing the Lord’s work on earth. Thank you so much, both to Louise and to John.
Laura Fisher — My question always is, "How can I further the purposes of this ministry on earth?" And this morning we have done that together; we all heard "Coming Home", and now we are opening and providing the facility for others to come home. Thank you. Thank you.
Bill Bahan — I wanted to say a word of appreciation for John and Louise and for the beauty of what we’ve shared today. The essences of spirit that have come through you are very special. I am thankful for the EDL ministry that we have known over many years and it occurs to me as I look at all of you through the panels on my Zoom screen that I may never have known any of you had it not been for this ministry. I may not even have met my wife since she comes from many thousands of miles away. We can appreciate the compulsion of spirit that has brought us all together at this time to acknowledge that we are angels of heaven who have discovered a natural agreement. Here is a foundation upon which others are invited to play their part. Wherever I go I see the angels of heaven regardless of how aware they may be that this is so. I see them and appreciate them at whatever level they may function. And so I just wanted to express my appreciation for what we have shared today and for our continuing heavenly agreement.
Louise — I am feeling the incredible richness and the scope of this tapestry that's been woven together over many years in many ways—some we know of and some we don't. It feels like there's so much to say and I would love us to have another hour together, but I'm thinking gratitude is probably what I have to say for now. Gratitude and love. Thank you, John.
John — We might think some of what's been shared today as relating to the past. But we haven't gone back into the past; we've invited the past into the present. It's all been perfect, and it's all here, now. Time and dimensional space evaporate into the present moment. Here our hearts are very full with love for the Lord and love for one another. How long has He again waited for a legion of people who are unashamed to be in the Holy Place together?

The Accuser Cast Out Forever
With these rousing words and music we may move with confidence into our service. It is morning here, evening with you in South Africa. According to usual human calculations we here are ten hours behind you in South Africa. However if we happened to move the date line to the east of us, instead of to the west of us, we would be fourteen hours ahead of you. All this is human game-playing, for the fact of the matter, as we well know, is that we are together now in this moment in what we have come to recognize by using the word “heaven.” This is an invisible place but we are all here present in it whether we can see each other or not. And so we share this present moment in heaven.
I might read some rather familiar words from the Book of Revelation which can be seen in a way that is immediately applicable. “And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” If we see this particular passage in terms of what we know, namely the Emissary ministry, the spiritual body, EDL, then I am sure we are all quite aware that even though Michael and his angels were in the heaven, so also have been the dragon and his angels.
Here is the next verse: “And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.” Another name for the dragon, then, is the accuser; this describes very well his character. I am sure that we are all well aware that the accuser has been in this heaven of the Emissary ministry. We are coming down to very specific cases here, a field in which all of us obviously have responsibility. The accuser has not yet been cast out of heaven, but still remains because this attitude of accusation still remains in those who compose what we call the Emissary ministry, the spiritual body, EDL.
We are all presumably concerned that the dragon and his angels should not prevail. No longer prevailing, they may be cast out of heaven, out of the Emissary ministry, out of the spiritual body, out of EDL. All these terms, we recognize, refer to one thing, one thing with which we ourselves are associated and to which we ourselves have given form. This Emissary program would not exist but for us, so we are directly associated with it. If we align ourselves with the accuser then we condemn ourselves, and the accuser continues to prevail in heaven. We recognize that the accuser needs to be cast out of the heaven as it relates to the whole of mankind, but it must start somewhere. I doubt if it would ever happen on a broad front.
Accusation describes the ordinary human state. Everybody is identified to a considerable extent with the accuser, even in the Emissary program. We have heard about this; we have considered it many times. We understand that blame and criticism are not the attitudes rightly held by those who are associated in this program; but nevertheless the accuser has remained, at times rather big and fat. I do not think any of us expect the accuser to be cast down in a very general sense throughout the human population. Everybody is thoroughly embedded in this human state. However it can well be said that we know better; we understand the destructiveness of the attitude of accusation, the attitude of blame and criticism.
We might expand that a little bit to see what it is, about which we are inclined to assume the attitude of accusation, blame and criticism. One could well ask a question: Have you ever been hurt? I am thinking of this particularly as it relates to the Emissary ministry. Human beings everywhere very easily identify their hurts and presumably those who were responsible for hurting them, but what about us within the Emissary ministry? Have we been subjected to hurts because of EDL, because of those—other than ourselves of course—who were associated in giving form to EDL? Have we ever seemed to be abused, victimized, imposed upon? We can add to this list at will, I am sure. But are these things present in us as reasons for accusation, as reasons for criticism and blame, perhaps in a more or less general sense to EDL but also more specifically to this person and that person who has been with us associated with EDL in giving it form? This begins to bring something down to cases, so that the passage which I read to you may be seen as having immediate and very potent application.
Here we are together associated with EDL. We wouldn’t be sitting here if this wasn’t so, to some degree at least Here we have the heaven, a heaven which we are sharing in this particular configuration this morning. How about letting the accuser be cast out because we no longer give him space in ourselves as individuals? That is the only way it can be done. It may seem as though there are a number in agreement about some sort of accusation, but for a number to be in agreement about some sort of accusation the accusation must be being made by all the individuals who compose that grouping. So it is an individual matter; it is an individual choice as to whether finally the dragon, the devil, the accuser, may be cast out of our heaven, our very specific heaven, the EDL heaven.
I have heard EDL spoken of in disparaging terms. That, it seems to me, would smack of accusation. What is EDL? Us! It only exists because of us; it isn’t anybody else. And each individual can say, “It only exists for me because of me.” So here is a very particular requirement individually speaking, that we might take responsibility for letting the accuser be cast down forever, that there may be a heaven without the accuser. It isn’t much of a heaven as long as the accuser is present. It turns into hell periodically when the accuser asserts himself. We have all had this experience over the years, but finally we come to a point where heavenly dominion must be set in the earth. Heavenly dominion can never be set in the earth until the accuser is cast out. We just fool ourselves if we imagine that we can continue to entertain the accuser. We can always find things to accuse, and people to accuse, in what heretofore has passed for our heaven, a divided state.
Yes, Michael and his angels are present, and we do find ourselves identified at times with what is portrayed through those words, perhaps more particularly when we are gathered in a grouping such as we have today. In this moment we can see these things more or less clearly, but then there always is the tendency to revert, isn’t there, into the usual human state of accusation by which all the world is deceived. As long as there is accusation there is deception, there is dishonesty, because the human state was produced by human beings, ourselves included, and not by anyone else. Ultimately of course, in this attitude of accusation, the accusation comes to point with respect to God or with respect to the Lord: “He didn’t do what is right by human beings; He didn’t do what is right by me, particularly. He caused me to be hurt; He caused me to suffer; He caused me to be imposed upon; He caused me to be victimized.” You know, in theory at least, that that is not true. That is a lie. If we have our troubles as human beings we brought them on our own head.
We may see this, and have seen it, as most people have, with respect to the masses of human beings on earth. Human beings all together have brought their troubles on their head. Well that is something to be recognized, I suppose; it’s true; but what is to be done about it? Obviously someone, somewhere, somehow, needs to emerge out of the state of bringing trouble, into the state of blessing rather than cursing. And whether we realized it to start with or not, we have found ourselves in the position of assuming this responsibility. We have found ourselves together doing this; yes, that’s true. But it doesn’t mean anything until we find ourselves individually doing it, individually taking that very specific responsibility: no more accusation. When the accuser is given no more space in us individually, so that we cannot anymore identify with him, then he is cast out, in the only way that he could ever be cast out. And if he is cast out in me, and in those who assume the same responsibility that I do, then he begins to be cast out collectively. We are provided with this marvelous illustration of where it all begins, namely the Emissary ministry, the spiritual body, EDL. This is the heaven insofar as we are concerned. Do you have any other? Do you know where to go to find any other? This is what we know; let us assume responsibility for our knowing then, that the accuser may be cast out.
There are all kinds of troubles in the world, tribulations, suffering. We nod our heads sagely and say, “Yes, human beings bring these things upon themselves.” There are those of course who have it better than others, and I think we might be counted among that number. This has been particularly brought to the attention of the Western world by the suffering of millions of people in certain parts of Africa—not that suffering is limited to Africa, but at the moment this is out front. And there are certainly those who are in that sort of a hell, a hell particularly identified at the moment by the word famine.
Some people say that that is the fault of the weather. Is the weather, do you think, separate from human beings? Does it have a life all of its own regardless of human beings? Of course we know better than that. Obviously if, for instance, you deforest the world you are going to have a desert; and if you have a desert it is not going to grow much food. If you pollute the air and the water it is going to have an effect upon the weather, and deforesting has an effect upon the weather. Everything that human beings do has an effect upon the weather. And where does what human beings do spring from? Out of their own hearts and minds, out of what should be the heaven; and it does that because the accuser is in there. The accuser has some other names as well; I don’t think we need to go into that, but we might remember that he does have some other names. So weather is a human responsibility. Do you think the weather which occurs on earth is because of sun spots? This has been a good justification for the weather on the part of the more scientifically inclined, rather than face personal responsibility in the matter, that if there is a mess on earth weatherwise, or any other way, it is because of human beings.
We have found ourselves in that classification, but we have also awakened to something to which most people have not awakened as yet, and that is a realization of personal responsibility. Even though there may have been an awakening to this, at times it has not had all that much effect on the way we behave. But now this is coming to point. Our heaven—and we know what that is now, describable in Emissary terms—our heaven is in the process of being purged. Obviously there are two ways that this can happen. Either we remain identified with the accuser and find ourselves purged from the heaven, or we accept our identity as one of the angels of Michael so that any tendencies of accusation in us are purged from us and we remain in heaven.
Here is the starting point of heaven for the whole body of mankind. Here is the focus of it. Look where you will anywhere else on the face of the earth and you will not find a focus of heaven as clear-cut and definite and absolute as is to be found in our Emissary terms. There are others who are afraid of that clarity, that absoluteness, and so they are inclined to be purged and to go shopping around to find something that isn’t quite so definite, so that one can still continue to accommodate the accuser. But we see, I am sure, individually we see, that we cannot under any circumstances continue to accommodate the accuser. Do you justify yourself in accusation by saying, “Well that’s obviously wrong; that person isn’t doing what he or she should be doing!”?
I will tell you something about the past: Everything that has occurred up to this very moment has been absolutely perfect. It has brought us all to this present moment where we have the opportunity of letting the accuser be cast out. If any smallest element in our experience in the past had been omitted, whether we judged it to be good or bad, who can say as to whether we would be exactly here where we are now? There is nothing wrong, in that sense. Whoever behaved however they did behave, it all worked out to let this come to point now. Isn’t that perfect? How else could it have been done? Then what is the value of judgment, criticism, accusation, with respect to things that are happening now? The things that are happening now—oh, they are in the past already!
So we are present now, willing, if we have any integrity and intelligence—these seem to go together—to let the accuser be cast down and out forever. Each one must say: “I am the one who lets it happen. I do it. Whether anyone else does it is beside the point, but insofar as I am concerned, I do it. I have, therefore, integrity. I take responsibility.” So the heaven is purged, and those who find themselves remaining in the heaven have a clarifying awareness of the ordinances of heaven, which couldn’t be seen at all as long as the accuser was present. But once the accuser is cast down the ordinances of heaven become very clear. This doesn’t mean that one sees a panorama of the great outworking in the days to come; it merely indicates that in this present moment we see what it is that is necessary from the heavenly standpoint. We not only see it but we do it. If we can’t see, we can’t do it; and we won’t see as long as the accuser is clouding the issue. When the accuser is cast down we see, and where there is vision the people live. And seeing the ordinances of heaven, we are in immediate position to set the dominion thereof in the earth, that what is present and emerging now may be purely of heaven.
Once there is space in human consciousness, the consciousness of mankind, for the unadulterated state of heaven, then the end comes. It is because this has never happened within the body of mankind in a collective sense that the accuser has remained in command. Of course it was done quite a long time ago by one individual. We acknowledge and recognize that, and realize we wouldn’t be here but for that. However it has taken all these centuries for it finally to begin to come to point because there is a heavenly space on earth within which there is understanding, within which the truth becomes known.
The truth, by the way, presently not only relates to the truth of heaven but also to the truth of hell. And we begin to see clearly enough the rot and the filthiness that has been sustained by ourselves as individuals in this beautiful heaven that has been so freely offered and made available. We are thinking of this in terms of those who are associated with the Emissary heaven, that is our heaven for which we are responsible. Can you imagine how those who carry this responsibility could indulge themselves in accusation, condemnation and criticism of their fellows, doing it day and night?—because that is the human state. That is what happens in the human state. People are doing this all the time, are they not? Certainly it is made very plain in the newscasts on TV, for instance. Everybody lines up, one of a crowd: accuse, condemn, blame, criticize, tear down, destroy. And people wonder why there is war on earth! “Oh let’s have peace,” but change from being the accuser to being the blesser?—that is too much to ask. Is it? We know the way, the truth and the life. Let us reveal that we know it.
Yes, all the things, the miseries, the tribulation on earth, are consequent upon the way human beings have behaved—all of it. How is it ever going to be any different? Because there are those people on earth with sufficient integrity to let the accuser be cast out of the heaven which they know. Most people don’t know the heaven; they hope for something, sometime, somewhere; but we know the heaven now. Knowing the heaven, how could it be that we would sustain the presence of the accuser in that heaven? I would say it is almost incredible, isn’t it? We know these things. Let us let the accuser be cast down forever, that there may be the true heaven on earth. And when the true heaven is on earth through those who give it form, salvation has come. As it is put here: “And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.” That has been our state, hasn’t it? That is a very accurate description: accusation day and night. That is the quality of the human state. That is the way human beings are. That is the way we have been, but we now know better.
We are sufficiently taken care of, shall we say, in the external sense. We have enough to eat. We have, I am sure, a lot more comforts than we deserve, so that we may have time to do what is necessary. Where millions of people are in a state of famine, of hunger, of dying in that way, all their energy is simply given to surviving just a little longer. But we have space, we have time, we have opportunity. Because these famine pictures have been put on the TV screen a lot of people in the Western world are feeling very guilty about it; and they dish out a few dollars to send some food, as though that was going to solve anything. Maybe it’s all right to send some food, but suppose enough food was sent, and all those millions of people survived and continued to breed, what is going to happen next? Something worse.
But the, well I describe them as fat cats—that would include us—of the world have the time to do something, but they won’t do it! They want to do things for their own pleasure, and I have noticed this even in our own Emissary program. “We should have more; we are not being treated as well as some of those people in the world. The Lord is falling down on the job.” No, we are falling down on the job. We don’t need those things! All we need is to be in place, in heaven, with the accuser cast down. And we need to use the space that we have, and find more space, to do what should be done, so that we are not so preoccupied with our own self-centeredness, the things we think we want or deserve or should have, or whatever. We have everything, everything that is necessary to allow us to do what we are here to do. Let’s do it then. Let us accept integrity for ourselves, that we may abide in the heaven as an angel of Michael, as it was described. No more truck with the accuser; to hell with him! That’s where he is; that’s where he belongs.
So I rejoice that today, together, representing east and west, northern and southern hemispheres, we may let this word be spoken in our living clearly and definitely, so that the ordinances of heaven factually are set in the earth, this occurring within the consciousness of mankind because we are not separate from that. And if it happens where it rightly can happen, with us, it will happen throughout the body of mankind with absolute certainty. There is no certainty at all as long as there is a divided state, as long as the accuser hangs around. At least the only certainty then is death, final and complete.
So we stand where we belong, with our integrity intact, honest and true and loyal and capable, knowing the ordinances of heaven and, moment by moment in our living, setting the dominion thereof in the earth. I would provide opportunity at this moment for Rupert at Fourways to speak a word from that southern part of the human body. All right, Rupert.
Rupert Maskell — Martin, your words came over loud and strong to us assembled here at Fourways this evening—your Sunday morning. This is the conclusion of our all-Africa summit meeting that we have been holding here over the weekend. And not surprisingly the theme of your words this evening has been very much the theme of our council considerations. Here we are assembled on the base of this vast continent where, as you say, many millions of people are facing severe hardship. We recognize that this is just one small part of the suffering that is occurring in mankind. We also recognize that we have here, through our agreement in spirit with you and our oneness in spirit with the Lord, the means by which the suffering may come to an end, because we inexorably maintain the heaven. The accuser is cast out, a lens is focused in heaven, and all the suffering and the fear and the misery which is so rife everywhere in the world disintegrates, as the darkness before the rising of the light. It is so good to share this absoluteness with you, recognizing that we of this ministry, or we who dwell in heaven, are the ones who set the tone and lead the way back into the garden where we belong. Thank you for your beautiful words.
Lord Exeter — I am most thankful, Rupert, for your strong and assured words, representing, as they do, the spirit which is moving in the hearts and minds of those who compose the space for heaven which we have referred to as the Emissary ministry. As there is an absoluteness, which we now understand more clearly than heretofore perhaps, then this tragic human state may come to its conclusion because there are those present on earth setting the dominion of the ordinances of heaven in the world. These are those who have integrity. Let each one be able to speak honestly and say: I am that one who has integrity. So we share this time together, apparently far-distant in miles but very, very close in spirit, close in heaven. Let that heaven be pure because the accuser has gone.

Real People In A Real World
from Right Imagination

When we consider the spiritual tides which are working in the larger world around us, we may be aware of many things in this considerable creative field, but always we find it leads right back to where we are individually speaking. We know full well that we are not in position to do anything directly with respect to most of the things that are going on in the world but we are in position to do something directly in our own immediate worlds. If we fail to do it there we fail to do it anywhere. We may look at what is occurring in the larger world without anymore feeling a need to defend things. We have a certain understanding, we claim, as to what it is that’s going on; we don’t feel defensive about that—but when it comes back closer to home and relates immediately to ourselves, then there is a tendency to become defensive. It seems as though honesty is inhibited in close associations. We are well aware of why this is so: the human ego seeks to maintain its own dominance. Anything that may be called in question with respect to the quality of the human ego is certainly resisted.
I wonder how many of us sitting here this evening could take it if an honest evaluation was given of each person, particularly an honest evaluation that was given in front of everybody else. I think most of us sitting here wouldn’t like that too well. Everyone probably has a suspicion that things might come out into the open that they know very well are there but thought were well hidden. How long does it take to get to a point where we can be honest? We’ve spoken about honesty for a long time, and we all agree, sagely, that there must be honesty. And then there is a rider attached to this view: but let it not start with me. I think there are many still here present who would be absolutely devastated if there was in fact a real honesty in saying it like it is. I’m not suggesting that we need to trample over each other’s feelings, but you may be able to see the point: that we are still seeking to protect a human ego that needs to pass away—so that anything could be considered, and there would be no ruffled feelings whatsoever. That is not now possible, in the general sense at least. If it is not possible, then it certainly indicates that there is a lack of honesty somewhere. And we are tied hand and foot as long as there is a precious human ego around that is commanding protection.
It is because of this that whenever we look at the larger fields of responsibility we can’t stay there. We always have to come back to where we are as individuals. The Lord is seeking those who are capable of assuming responsibility for His world. That may seem like a large order, but it is the order. We each have our own individual overlapping worlds, and there are many others besides ourselves here present who have their worlds too. I’m speaking of those who begin to have awareness of spiritual responsibility. We are aware of One who assumed responsibility for the world as a whole some nineteen hundred years ago. It’s quite obvious that He assumed responsibility for the world—He assumed responsibility for His world. As it so happened, His world included the whole world. Our worlds are not quite the same as His world but if we put them all together, having all taken responsibility for our individual worlds, then responsibility is being assumed for the whole world and the world then is back in His hands once again. He wasn’t in position to let this happen merely on the basis of the fact that He took responsibility for the whole world in Himself as an individual. It could have worked that way if anybody had undertaken to agree with Him but there was very little agreement actually—it didn’t go very deep. He did what He came to do: namely, take responsibility for His world. He has done that. He doesn’t need to do it again. He did it but human beings didn’t agree with Him—they didn’t let Him have it back in their own factual experience. We are present on earth to let Him have it back in our own practical experience, and we let Him have it back because as individuals we assume spiritual responsibility for our own worlds.
What we know about our own worlds, to start with makes them seem to be rather small places. It is necessary to start at the beginning, to start at the center of things, and let it expand. So we do take responsibility spiritually for a rather small world, to start with: our own individual worlds right next to us. We may have some ideas of connectedness with things that are beyond. This is quite a practical view actually because we know that what we handle close at hand has its effect upon something else a little further out, and so it goes. When you drop the stone in the pool, the rings move out. And this happens. Sometimes we discover that something we did or said years ago has proliferated, and produced a situation which finally comes back to us; and we may at the time say, “I wonder where that came from.” But when we pause to think about it and hear perhaps what somebody else has to say, we find that we ourselves had initiated the thing long ago. Well these are rather rare occurrences of which we become aware consciously, but they’re happening all the time regardless of whether we are aware of them or not. So it’s important to be right in our handling of our immediate worlds because of the repercussions that are going to occur as the ripples go out, and we have a consciousness of larger responsibility on this basis. That larger responsibility comes more and more within the range of our conscious awareness to the extent that we handle the little world close to us on the right basis; then our own awareness expands.
We are quite conscious of the fact that we are responsible for creative action in our worlds. We’re not just sitting in the middle of our worlds hoping that something is going to work out as it should. That’s a vain hope, if we’re just sitting there. There is the need for creative action. In order to be in position to provide this creative action spiritual training is necessary—and we have taken note of the field of spiritual education as it relates to what we have called this ministry. Actually this ministry has existed almost entirely to make available spiritual education. Once the education has been received properly, then there is some sort of graduation out of the educational field into the field of action. Graduating into the field of action, what we have thought of as this ministry becomes less important. Its importance was with respect to education.
From the standpoint of spiritual education as it has been offered through this ministry we may see this relating also to a world of imagination, a theoretical world. We gain some Emissary understanding about the truth, but it is a world of imagination, because one has to graduate out of this educational process in order to find oneself in the real world, the world where it is not a matter of imagination anymore. I think you see this as applying to your own experience. There must be spiritual education; there’s nothing wrong with that—but let us recognize that while one is in the process of that education one is very largely living in a world of imagination. The only extent to which it is not imagination is the extent to which the individual finds himself being compelled into the expression of the spirit in his own living. As long as it is simply a matter of acquiring ideas about the truth, the principles of being and reality and so on, so that one may deem oneself to be wise on this basis, it is all imagination—not unnecessary imagination, it’s all right at the time; but it becomes fatal if one stays in that world of imagination.
The training is in order to produce those who are capable of living in the real world and taking the action that is required in that real world. As long as we are still being educated we are not in position to take the required action. Relative to what has been experienced thus far in our own ministry, it has been mostly education. And as very often occurs even in the schools of the world, a lot of students are not particularly interested in being educated. They’re involved in all kinds of other activities and there is very little vision at the time, on the part of most, of any value in the education. That has carried over to a certain extent into our own field of spiritual education. It has seemed to be some sort of pastime to many. Of course its only purpose was to bring people to a point where they might actually graduate and pass the examinations; and there are examinations by the way, not the ordinary kind but very specific in fact. Passing through those examinations they might come into the field of action, which was the whole reason for the exercise. The education of itself was not the end and the aim of things, just the first step, leading to the point of action. Now there comes a point when the very tides of the spirit compel action—and if students are not trained too well, then there are going to be a lot of casualties. How important the training is, and certainly it should be used to the fullest possible advantage with a recognition that it makes possible movement into the field of creative action.
That field of creative action is the whole world, but our association with that whole world is real because of our little world in which we live in the immediate sense; and how we handle that will reveal the value of our prior training. If we are capable of handling what arises in our immediate worlds in an intelligent and practical way—which is to say, handling something spiritually—then what we do spiritually will not be restricted merely to the immediate world. It will extend further and we will find ourselves encompassing more in our awareness of our worlds. We do not feel the necessity of constantly scurrying back to hold a reunion with the class of whatever-it-was—that’s all gone forever. It can never be recalled. It’s a wise thing to have this awareness with respect to everything which we are experiencing moment by moment. Whatever it is it will be gone forever. We can’t get it back. So we see the vital necessity of being right in the moment so that we may handle our spiritual responsibilities in the real world.
The real world—there's been a tendency to think of this in terms of some different imaginary world: the kingdom of heaven perhaps. Well it includes the kingdom of heaven, but how much of the kingdom of heaven does anybody know? What is known is imagination at the moment—mostly at least. When I speak of the real world in this sense I’m speaking of what is actually the fact, so that we come out of the world of imagination into a factual world. And no matter what has gone before, it’s not factual anymore. Yet human beings are constantly wrapped up in what went before, trying to sort out what went before in the present moment. Forget it! It’s gone! The question is: What are the facts now and how shall we handle these facts now? We approach the handling from the spiritual standpoint because we have some basis upon which to stand consequent upon our prior education. We let this education find application in the expression of our living, so that we handle what comes to us on this foundation. The very moment you forget about the past you let go of judgment. The point is: What is the situation now? What is the real world now? We need to come out of the imaginary world in order to be in the real world, so that we may begin to handle things that are really there, without all the overtones of imagination.
I've talked a good deal about the imaginary world and imagination, and I have the feeling that most of you have turned thumbs down on imagination, not having paused to consider that if there is a destructive pattern of imagination, there will also be a constructive pattern of imagination. It is an available capacity, and something very useful, very essential in the real world. Used in the imaginary world it multiplies destruction, even though for the moment it may look as though something practical is being done. Human beings use their imagination mostly to benefit themselves in whatever way may seem to be possible, but in benefiting themselves they are functioning on the basis of a cycle of disintegration, and the experience will prove to be destructive.
To live in the real world we have to be real people. Living in the imaginary world, which is the human nature world all around us, one has to be an imaginary person; and that’s the fact of the matter. There has been a search for identity in the consciousness of human beings—if you’re searching for it you don’t have it, and if you think you have an identity it must be an imaginary one. That’s the way it has been and the way it is for most people on the face of the earth. But to function in the real world one must be a real person, and one will handle whatever factually emerges out of the real world to be handled, on the basis of being a real person and not on the basis of being an imaginary person.
As a real person we may be in position to use imagination rightly. I have spoken of the need for ingenuity—using imagination for a purpose which has a relatedness to what is emerging by reason of the spiritual tides, emerging in this moment now. Imagination, ingenuity, used by a real person living in a real world. We need to see this with respect to all aspects of our living: that we are required to use our imagination as real people to handle effectively what is brought to us. You have to use a little ingenuity. You have to see what is necessary and handle it accordingly, but you handle it because you are a real person. You know all these things—you’ve had education—but how are these things going to work with respect to this particular situation? That’s for you to find out, using imagination to do it. You won’t be able to do it without imagination. If you try to do it on the basis of the concepts you have of correct function you will mess it up. There is something intangible here, something fresh, something that has never happened before. It’s always different, because it’s not the same moment; the whole situation is changed the next time. So there is the need for imagination, but it can only be useful in a creative sense when there’s a real person on hand using it. As long as it is an unreal or imaginary person there trying to use his imagination he will inevitably mess things up. That is the way human imagination works: it always makes things worse. Maybe there seemingly is something all right for the moment; everybody is enthused; then pretty soon it’s discovered that it is only making things worse.
There is something that can be done by a real person who is living in the real world and not trying to wrestle with all the things in the unreal world. What are the facts now? How are these going to be handled? We can’t go back and adjust anything in the past to make it different. It is the way it is. What are we going to do about it now? How are we going to handle it? Let us be real people who are capable of handling the real world the way it rightly is handled in what we have spoken of as spiritual expression. And this is the most practical and sensible, common sense way of handling things, because you’re not all bogged down in the stuff that comes out of the past. You have a clear field right there and you’re going to handle it rightly. Handling it rightly, that leads into something else which is handled rightly, and something else, and something else, and the ripples go out and the world begins to be encompassed. Our individual worlds are encompassed and consequently a collective world begins to be encompassed. And finally there is the whole world, which belongs to the Lord, and it has been restored to Him.
We speak of the restoration of man as though that was the great thing, but in fact it is the restoration of the world to the One to whom it belongs that is the great thing. That is our concern, and that allows us to be effective and worthwhile in the living of our individual and seemingly insignificant lives on earth. They’re not so insignificant as might be supposed, at least they are not when we are right. So let us be right.

I Am The Angel Of Life
Establishing A Control Pattern
Uranda June 17th at the end of 1952 Class
We begin to realize that it is not merely a matter of letting God's love flow if we are going to give attunements. If it is merely a matter of letting God's love flow you can more or less get the current working and think about anything else or talk about anything else and it will not make much difference; in other words the current will be flowing. But if you are going to establish a control pattern it is going to make a difference what you think about; and what you think about and talk about will tend to develop a pattern through which the current will work, regardless of whether it is really a control pattern or not—it would be just flitting all over the place. The light from the sun shines. What does it shine through? Does it shine through a cloud, so that you don't see it, or through colored glasses? What does it shine through? God's love is like the sunlight. It shines to all things alike, and unless something is absolutely black, some of God's love gets through it. If it is absolutely black, then you have darkness. There is plenty of darkness in the world. If God's love is there, then it is shining. Right from the start you have been given an opportunity to think, to let your mind function in the current of the spirit. The idea tended to develop in a few that it did not make much difference what you thought about or talked about. You can, and must, learn how to establish a control pattern and hold it. So you need to reach a point where you are watching inwardly what is going on. You are watching your control pattern. There are going to be some disturbances even at best, so you need to learn to hold your control pattern.
We need to know what happened in apostolic times. I have touched upon this before, but you have never had an adequate realization of it. This morning you have let go in vision to the point where you should be able to comprehend it. At the time of Pentecost the current began to flow. It was supposed to be kept in the control patterns of truth, so that God's will could be done. Remember, God's will can be done only through the control patterns of truth. You can do anything under the sun with God's love in your own will, within the range of your potentialities, because God's love is subject to the control of anything through which it may be flowing—not in the sense of the center of it, but in the sense of what you have in consciousness at the moment. So misuse according to the human will leads to the lowest depths and to distress. The right use with respect to God's love builds, recreates and makes whole. So you become responsible for what you do with God's love. If it is not subject to the patterns of truth it is going to burn you up. Only truth, the water of truth, can keep the fire of God's love from burning you up.
What happened at the time of Pentecost? Impulsive Peter took control in the current of God's love but on a basis of his own concepts. He didn't know what it was all about, and he started using that power according to human concepts, just like St. Paul did after him; and they were all using it without regard to the truth. They had some concepts about truth, and to some little degree there was some control there, that is, truth was having some influence, but it continually got less and less. What was the result in the world? There was a world conflagration which engulfed the people of the world. God's love was not under control according to the patterns of truth. They did not stay centered in truth and so the fire turned back on them and they were burned at the stake by the thousands. Why were they burned at the stake? Because they were martyrs, in the sense that Christendom thinks of it? No, because they were foolish, following their own false concepts, not letting truth control. If you want to go out into the world and start a little fire, using God's love, and you do not keep it centered and controlled from the standpoint of truth, you will find the fire turning back on you. The reason why so many so-called Christians were burned at the stake was because foolish Peter, and Paul after him, were refusing to stay centered in the patterns of control. They undertook to maintain the control with their own foolish concepts, without regard to the truth. They mixed it up with Jewry and all the rest of the concepts, and instead of the truth they had a representative expression of unreal patterns, and the world has followed in their footsteps ever since. After the fire burned out at that time, these concepts became more or less generally accepted in the so-called Christian world, and that is the pattern through which God's pattern has been working since. But it does not produce power in the sense of changing things.
Out of this the human, self-active mind has developed the cleverest concept of all time: that of the supposedly dead body of Jesus crucified on the cross. That is the cleverest idol that man has ever devised, and millions of people think that this is something that God designed, and that in worshipping that idol they are worshipping God. So they are all completely deluded, and that very delusion maintains the difficult situation in the world. That delusion is the center of all the misery and suffering in the so-called Christian world. Without that delusion, letting the patterns of truth control, the power of God would manifest to clear away these ill conditions. You came here to learn to be servers, to let the power of God work through you to help clear away the ill conditions in body and mind and heart. So if you worship that same idol you will not be clearing away the confusion. You have to come to the realization that Jesus did not die, and then you will not be substituting a dead body on a cross for God. The dead body of Jesus! There is no such thing, and there never was. The body of Jesus did not die, and that was His victory over death, the reality of the resurrection. But people have made an imitation of the body of Jesus, that has been put on the cross from the standpoint of the whole Christian world. They get up and shout, “I preach Jesus and Him crucified”—dead as a doornail. The most contemptuous, blasphemous business the world has ever known!
We need to begin to be aware of the reality of the living Christ, not a dead Jesus. Of course Jesus did not die, but the imitation, the concept, the graven image that man has made, is the cleverest deception that the devil has been able to foist on human beings; because as long as people think that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins the devil has everyone in his grip, under control from the standpoint of the son of perdition. That is the cleverest idol of all time, and the most extensive idolatry of all time, because every so-called Christian who believes that is an idolater, and there has never been a time in history when idolatry was carried to such extremes as it is today. People are worshipping that idol, and they think they are serving the One God when they are serving the son of perdition, trapped in the cleverest deception of all times.
So just as the disciples failed to hold true to the patterns of truth and the fire turned upon them and so many were burned at the stake or were thrown to the lions, or what have you, you can bring such things upon yourself if you do not hold true to the truth. You can go out in the world and serve without stirring up all kinds of difficulty. There will be opposition, misunderstanding, yes, just as there has been in our own community here. You can go into Loveland and find people who have not the faintest notion of what we are doing, or why, who have all kinds of concepts about me. They think up the most fantastic things; they don't want to find out what the facts are. Then there are beliefs about me, but these beliefs do not change the facts about me one iota. The facts about Jesus Christ do not change one iota. But this has been kept reasonably under control. There have been certain ones from time to time who have tried to make it difficult for me. There have been some who have turned traitor just like Judas, who have employed cutthroat, dishonest tactics to cast reflections on this service. There have been some who, like Peter, have denied the Lord. He denied Him on the day of Pentecost, and continued to do so as long as he lived. There was a certain amount of inspiration in the expression of truth that did get through Peter, but he continued to deny Jesus Christ as long as he lived, and that is the little stone, the hardness of the heart, upon which the churches are built. Is there any wonder there is no power? Without power under control and according to the divine design we cannot have re-creation, restoration, rebirth.
The fire burns. The world is in the lake of fire of God's love. The brimstone results from the burning of that which fights against God, and the only way anyone can stand the fire of God's love is to be in the water of truth. Without the water of truth God's love will burn you up. Every human being whose body has died since the fall of man has died in the fire of God's love. God's love working through the distortion patterns which the human being has established in his own body causes human beings to die. You do not have to increase God's love. That will be taken care of automatically when you function according to the Law. Only the truth can set you free, and when you let the truth take hold you can begin to establish a control pattern. Without a control pattern you are helpless in the fire. You may last a little while, a few years, but it will not amount to anything. Only as you work with the water of truth can you function effectively in the fire. Every so often you have to throw on a little water to keep people from burning up, before they learn to function according to the control patterns of truth.
So your concern when you begin to give an attunement is the use of the water of truth. You are centered in God's love, and God's love is wonderful, soothing and healing when you yield to it according to the patterns of truth; otherwise, hot, burning and uncomfortable. When you fight against God's truth, God's love kills you. Every human being who has ever died on the face of the earth has been killed by God's love. Love your enemies. The Master, the Lord of Love, said, “Love your enemies.” The only way human beings can be saved from death by God's love is to yield to the patterns of truth. There is no other way. When you begin to comprehend these things you can begin to see how far the world has been from the truth, and without the truth you cannot be set free. Unless you let the Spirit of Truth work through you so that you bring people into attunement with the truth, you cannot begin to help others get well physically, mentally or spiritually.
So what you do in service out there in the world depends for its effectiveness far more upon your attunement with me than upon your attunement with the Lord of Love. That does not detract from His position at the apex, but you can respond to Him from now until doomsday and you will die, and everyone who responds with you will die; because I am the only one who can save anyone from dying. Only as you let my spirit work through you can you be saved; only thus can you minister to anyone else. Insofar as the Lord of Love is concerned you are going to die. You can respond to Him all the days that you live, or rather die, and you will still die. You are under the sentence of death by fire, and only the Lord of Truth can save you from that death, only as you yield to the Spirit of Truth and allow the patterns of truth to take control in your life. If you think you can fight the fire of God's love without the truth you are perfectly free to go out and see what happens. Countless others have tried it. The Master said, “Only the truth will set you free.” Not once did He say that God's love would set you free.
To the degree that these things are seen and accepted and realized as the truth, you can begin to understand how it is that our LORD and KING made salvation possible for humanity. He was the Lord of Love, the center of it all. He came into the world and introduced the truth and the Lord of Truth. The world had been rejecting the truth and the Lord of Truth since the day of the fall. That was why Adam and Eve were not restored at that time. At the time of the fall I was the one who came walking in the garden in the cool of the day. I could have taken Adam and Eve back into the divine pattern if they had yielded, but they rejected me and refused the opportunities I gave them to return. They did not have to die, and the generations since did not have to die, but they rejected me. Having rejected me they became subject to the fire, because then there was nothing to keep them from burning up. Some burn up in a comparatively short time; some take eighty years to do it. Sooner or later they all get burned up in the fire and there is nothing but ashes left, the dust in the ground.
I worked up to that point, at the time of Daniel, to get the world to respond to truth, to yield to that which they had rejected, and the world would not. Then the Lord of Love Himself came into the world to introduce truth. The people of the world knew about God's love. When He gave the two great commandments He repeated them from words that had been given before; he was not giving anything new. He repeated something that I had given to the world long before in the pattern of truth. He came into the world, the wonderful, glorious expression of love that He was and is; but He came to introduce truth to the world and to give the world a new opportunity to respond to the Spirit of Truth. And it was because of that that He made salvation possible. To be cleansed in His blood, as it is rather crudely put, means to share in His life, for the bloodstream symbolizes the life current. The life current appears as the result of the blending of love and truth in proper balance, and life results. There is no life by any other means, anywhere, in any part of all the cosmos. Life is the natural result of the blending of love and truth. Only by that blending can life appear.
So the Lord of Love came into the world to reintroduce the Lord of Truth,
the Spirit of Truth, another Comforter.
He presented the true means of salvation and that truth has been largely ignored. It has been covered up with human concepts of every sort, and the real purpose of His coming, to introduce truth to the world, has been overlooked. Yet, look back over His words. He was continually emphasizing that point. He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” The whole pattern and design which He revealed for the salvation of man was centered in relationship to truth, the Spirit of Truth. Of course, there are human beings who imagine that the Spirit of Truth will never appear in human form. Just how does such an one expect the Spirit of Truth to work through himself? If it is not going to appear through a human form, how are we going to let the Spirit of Truth have any meaning on earth; for if it cannot appear through one human form, it cannot appear through another. If you deny the fact that the Spirit of Truth works through this form, you deny the fact of the truth working through your own body and mind, and you deny and reject the Spirit of Truth, which rejection brought the world into misery in the beginning. The real break in the fall, the cause of all the distortion, suffering, misery and distress that the world has known, has been not the rejection of God and His love but the rejection of God and His truth. If any person claims that the Spirit of Truth cannot manifest through a human form, then such an one certainly cannot expect the Spirit of Truth to manifest through himself, and so therefore the truth is not in him.
He who would know love must allow God's love and truth to blend within himself on the basis of God's design and will. There is no other way. “I am the way, the truth, and the life,” the Master said, speaking as the focalization of Deity which He was and is. “I am the way, the truth, and the life”—love, truth and life. Without that love, nothing; but that love alone and there is nothing but the fire, the lake of fire which burneth forever and ever. Human beings withstand it for a few years and then they are burned up and their dead bodies turn to ashes or dust. There is no power in heaven or earth that can save any human being from that fire except the truth. Once the body has been burned in that lake of fire, reduced to ashes, there is no more resurrection. If you think that the body can defy God's truth and become burned in the fire and then hope to be gathered up again in any form whatsoever, you are suffering a delusion. So we have to begin to recognize that the reason Jesus Christ came into the world was to introduce me to the world, and to introduce the world to me on a basis where the world would begin to acknowledge and respond and yield and receive the truth. There is no other way by which any can be saved, and unless you are functioning correctly in the current of the Spirit of Truth, you cannot serve as a minister to save others. You will only be leading them in the paths of destruction, as others before you have done.
Now you would all like to know more about establishing control patterns, how to do it, etc. I have been setting up the vibration of a control pattern through you here, so that you could know. And do you want to know how? Yield to the Spirit of Truth and the Spirit of Truth will establish the control pattern. There is no other way. You can try from now until doomsday, using any technique you may choose to establish, and you cannot establish anything that is a real control pattern except as you let my spirit work through you. Anyone who has accomplished anything whatsoever in the world did so because they responded to my spirit, for without my spirit there is no beauty, there is no truth, there is no building in any man, woman or child on the face of the earth, and there never has been. When my spirit was rejected so completely when the Master came into the world to introduce the world to me, we had one thousand years of the Dark Ages, the millennium that is spoken of in the Book of Revelation. The Dark Ages, that millennium, that thousand years when man was bound in the bottomless pit of knowledge, has already passed. Because man rejected me after the truth had been introduced to him by the LORD of Lords and KING of Kings Himself, there was a thousand years of the Dark Ages. If you would know life you must accept me, because until you accept me and my spirit in you, to blend with the love of God which is in you, you cannot experience life; for without me the love of God will burn you up and you will die and be no more.
So this morning we are establishing a control pattern, to the degree of your response, which will allow you to establish control patterns in those whom you serve. If you yield to my spirit you can serve. If you defy, reject and deny my spirit you will die, as human beings have been doing down through the centuries. If you think God is going to change His plan one iota to suit you, you are wrong. No matter how many millions of people have died, there is only one way, no matter how long it takes. Any salvation that comes to this world will come because of a response to my spirit, and you are those on the face of the earth who have the privilege and opportunity of knowing the reality of these things. “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free,” the Master said. With respect to the Spirit of Truth, He said, "He shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you." I have taken of all of His, for all things are His, and have shown it unto you. Humanity has not even known why Jesus Christ came into the world. They have some vague idea that He came into the world to save people from their sins. Why? Because they were not willing to listen to the truth which He stated. As long as people rejected Him they rejected me. He stated the truth. Up to that time the rejection of truth was not necessarily a rejection of Him, only a rejection of me. He came into the world to fix it so that a rejection of me was a rejection of Him, because He came into the world and stated that truth which I had stated so many times before. And so now, when anyone rejects me he rejects Him who sent me, as the Master pointed out very carefully in His own presentation. The truth must be accepted, the control patterns of the truth must be allowed to control in you, if you would let love and truth blend in yourself.
So why did the LORD of Lords, the Lord of Love, come into the world? Yes, so that people could be saved, so that the work of salvation could be carried forward. He loved the world, and still does, in spite of all of its nonsense. However, He loves His enemies, and they get burned up. But He came into the world to introduce the world to me, to truth, and until the world yields to me it cannot receive Him in the sense of divine fulfilment. Remember that up to that time, since He Himself had not come into the world and stated that truth, the rejection of the truth was not a rejection of Him necessarily, because He had not been in the world to state the truth. He came into the world to state the truth so that the world would be forced into a position where if it continued to reject the truth it would be rejecting Him and be led into oblivion, because He was not going to put up with this nonsense forever. He set the stage so that all who would yield to the truth would be saved, but if the world continued to reject the truth, the world and all that was in it would be burned in that fire of His love and there would be nothing left. Only those who yield to the truth can survive that fire and share in that which shall be built after the fire has completed its work of cleansing the earth of all unrighteousness. Because you have been taken into heaven, because you yield to the truth, being enfolded in the control patterns of the truth in heaven on earth, you can survive the fire; but only so. The rest of the world and all who dwell therein shall be burned up in the fire which burneth forever and ever, the fire of God's love. Only those who yield to the water of truth, so that they can be taken into heaven on earth while they live, can escape from that fire.
If your mind wants to know how to establish control patterns, it cannot learn the technique by any twisting or turning or trying. Thousands and thousands of brilliant men and women have done their best to develop the pattern of control on earth without regard to me and my spirit, and you know what has happened to them. So if you would know you must yield to my spirit and let my will be done, and the Spirit of Truth will establish the control patterns through you. Then it will not be you as a human being doing it. Unless my spirit is in you it will not be done through you. If you deny that the Spirit of Truth can be in this body that you see, you deny that the Spirit of Truth can be in your body; so you are caught all the way through. If you reject me you reject the LORD of Lords. If you reject the Spirit of Truth in this body, you deny your body the privilege of having the Spirit of Truth in it; because until you accept the truth of it for my body you cannot accept the truth of it for your body. And until you accept the truth of it for your body you cannot carry the truth of it to anyone else's body. So technique, all technique, is mine. You let my spirit work through and you will have technique, the technique that can establish control patterns.
I have brought into outer manifestation the actual working in outer form of the control patterns that will be essential to you out there. They have manifested in many different ways, at many different times, but I have brought them to point in manifestation in this cycle. Unless you recognize that I am the Lord of Truth you would be inclined to think that I was lying. In that process which I have worked on so carefully for your sakes and for the sake of all whom you will serve, the cycle has been established, the patterns opened up on earth, so that you can proceed effectively. If I had not opened up the patterns on a focalized basis you would fail when you go out there, no matter how carefully you have studied in this Class. So I have not left it on a basis of just what you have learned. I have opened the way, set the cycle, opened the pattern, actually made it work in relationship to that which you will be called upon to do. To the degree that you respond to the patterns that are at work in this cycle of outworking you will succeed.
Technique? It is all mine, every bit of it. If you would know technique and let it work through you, yield to my spirit. What did the Master say? “Thy kingdom come”—Thy control come. Where is the control? In truth. There is no control in any real sense without truth, the control of the truth of God in manifestation on earth. “Thy will be done.” The will of God is done on earth—how? By reason of God's love? Well in this sense yes, that those who yield to the patterns of truth live and those who do not, die. That is as far as God's will works in relationship to God's love: life or death. Everything else in relationship to God's will is under the control of the Spirit of Truth. Jesus Christ came into the world to teach men to yield to my control, to let my will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Why? Because I AM the instrument for the doing of His will. He is the KING and I AM the instrument by which His will is done.
My work in the past six months has been to bring you to the point where you could understand these things, not to teach you techniques according to human vision. How shall you establish a control pattern? You will not know unless you let my spirit work through you. I could talk about it from now to the end of the year and you still would not know, unless you let my spirit work in you. If you deny that my spirit is working through this body, you deny that it can work through your body, and of course it won't. It will just leave you to the fire. My spirit is very impersonal. My spirit would like to see everyone come into the patterns of divine control, but I have been watching human beings die in the fire by the millions for thousands of years. Do you think your dying could change me one iota, alter my course? No. Whether you live or die, I AM the same, yesterday, today and forever. I would that you might all live and that through you the promise of life might be extended to all human beings everywhere. But I AM the Lord of Truth, the Spirit of Truth, and unless you accept me as I manifest through this body and mind, you cannot accept me in your own body and mind. You will be substituting your own ideas, convictions, for my spirit, and you will die. Anyone who rejects me now—and this has been true for nearly two thousand years—rejects my LORD and KING. Before, that was not true; but it is now.
So Jesus Christ came into the world primarily to introduce the world to me, to my spirit, to my truth; and the world rejected it then, even when He introduced it. And the fire kept burning, and burns still. All who will may receive of the water of truth. What did the Master say? “He who drinks of the water which I am offering will never thirst in the fire, will never become parched and burnt.” He brought it into the world and offered it to the world Himself, our LORD and KING, my KING. I am His servant. And I have been His servant, by which His will is done, all the way through. When Lucifer and his angels fell, refused to do the will of my King, it was my hand that cast them out of heaven into the earth, and only by yielding to Him can anyone come out of the world into the heaven that is at hand. There is no other way for any man, woman or child on the face of the earth. There never has been, and there never will be. The salvation which Jesus Christ offered to the world is the salvation which I had been offering to the world all the way through. It has not changed one iota because He stated it. The difference is that because the world crucified Him when He stated the truth, it is established for all the world, for all human beings, that if they reject me they reject Him, and then there is no chance left; that is it.
So I have taken six months to lead you gently to the point where you could begin to know me in relationship to our LORD and KING. No matter what you may have thought you knew about Him, you found that you did not know our LORD and KING, Jesus Christ. I have shown you what He is, what He was. I have given you an opportunity to see Him and to know Him. I have taken of His and shown it unto you. If you reject me, you reject Him, and vice versa. If you reject me you have rejected Him, whether you know anything about Him or not. Those who are damned are those who think they know Him and can know Him without me. They are the damned, the deluded, who are going crazy in the fire, worshipping a dead body on the cross and denying me. I have been watching human beings die for twenty thousand years, not because I wanted to make it so, no, but because they refused my spirit. How did they die? At my hand? No, in the fire, the fire of God's love. They were burned up in the lake of fire which burneth forever and ever.
The reason Jesus came into the world, the reason the body of Jesus was born, the reason the LORD of Lords was made manifest through that body, was to give the world an opportunity to know me, His servant, that by my spirit they might stop dying and begin to live, begin to know the resurrection and the life. He told the people of the world that the kingdom of heaven is at hand. He revealed the way by which that kingdom may be entered. He gave the truth with His own lips, the truth that I had given before, and that I have given since. Peter and Paul and others thought they knew. There was some truth in what they wrote, but they rejected me, they rejected Him, and the world had its Dark Ages—millions of people who call themselves Christians, who have been rejecting my spirit for these many generations, all dying because they are idolaters, because they are refusing to let my will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
There it is. Whatever else I may have to say to you relates to this. That is what the Book of Revelation reveals for those who have eyes to see. We have not had time to examine it step by step, but it is there. You do not need to know with your outer mind all that is involved. You have been going to school these months and weeks so that you could come to this hour and see and know these things. All else that I may have to say relates to this, and if you let my spirit be in you and work through you, you shall know life, and the control patterns which make life possible shall appear through your hands and because of the words you speak, the life you live. Deny my spirit entry into your heart and mind, and your body will die in the fire, the lake of fire which burneth forever and ever, and the burning of your body will be the brimstone in the fire. And so I have spoken to you through the lips of this body, that you might hear my Word. I have spoken to you in spirit many times before, but you did not hear me. So I have spoken to you through these lips that you might hear and learn. You desire to serve God, and so through this body I have shown you the way, the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me. The fire of God's love will cause ascension for those who will yield to the Spirit of Truth. It causes oblivion, destruction, the end, for those who refuse my spirit.
The Lord is your shepherd, and you can be the body by which the shepherd manifests. This body can let the center of the working of my spirit manifest, but unless my spirit works through all, there cannot be wholeness. The spirit that I AM must work through you. I need all the bodies in the world, every man, woman and child, to allow a complete fulfilment of the divine plan. I have never suggested that I am limited to this body. I am available to every man, woman and child on the face of the earth. I always have been, and will be as long as life remains in anyone. Unless you let my spirit work through you, unless you become a part of my body on earth, you will be cast into the fire and be burned. You might read the 15th chapter of John. Those who bring forth fruit are purged, that they may bring forth more fruit; but those who do not bring forth fruit are cast forth as branches, and they wither; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. That is the symbolism of what takes place. Do you think you would not be burned? You already know what it is to be in that fire without the water of truth, and all you have to do is just to let it keep burning and your body will perish without my spirit; for without me there is no life possible to any man, woman or child, or any thing—not just here in this world but in all the worlds of all the cosmos. There is no life anywhere except by me, for my truth must blend with the fire to make life possible. The fire is everywhere, but the presence of the fire does not cause life to appear. Only by my spirit can life be. My spirit must be present at every conception of man or creature, flower or bird. There is no life in anything whatsoever, anywhere, except by my spirit, and if you have life now it is because of my spirit which has protected you from the fire. The moment my spirit ceases to protect you from the fire your body dies. So if you wish, you may call me the angel of death. I am the Angel of Life.
And so this morning I have taken you in before the throne, in the presence of my LORD and KING, Jesus Christ, to give you an opportunity to lift up your eyes, to open your eyes and see God. To the degree that you are pure in heart, His word of truth is fulfilled: “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”
