How Great and Glorious is Thy Being

How  Great  and  Glorious  is  Thy  Being

from   God  Almighty

Martin Cecil   December 6, 1970

O great Lord of the heavens, who art Lord of the earth also,

wherever the earth appears in all the universe,

we are in Thine hand. Without Thee we are not.

With Thee we know the truth and we are true to it.

In humbleness before Thee we kneel in spirit with head bowed to the earth,

but nevertheless looking upward to Thee.

For Thou art our Master, our Lord and King.

Present on earth we are here for Thee, and for Thee alone.

Into Thy hands we are committed.

How great and glorious is Thy being.

How insignificant is our own, and yet inseparable from Thee.

So it is, now and forever, in the Christ.

Aum-en.

At Christmas-time emphasis is placed upon the idea conveyed through the words, "Glory to God in the highest." Too many get hung up on the following words, "On earth peace, good will toward men." "Glory to God in the highest."

In our recent meditations we have concerned ourselves particularly with what is meant by the word Jehovah. In looking to God we have looked to the true character of Being in our own experience. We have examined the nature of Being to some extent and recognized the honorable character that results in our expression on earth when we accept the divine character into our own experience. In other words our view of God has been primarily of God in action on earth through our own specific focus of Being. It has been essential that we should experience very much in this regard, and there is much more to experience, but it is also important that we do not lose sight of God Almighty.

Human beings tend to have a reaction of contempt for what becomes too familiar. In other words, if the dawning experience of the aspect of God which comes to focus in ourselves as individuals is thought of as being supreme we lose sight of what really is supreme. "Glory to God in the highest." Obviously God is much vaster than the individual. There needs to be a balance in other words, in our consciousness and in our experience, in this regard.

There may be a tendency to lose respect for God as He really is by reason of our limited experience of God in the sense of personal being. That experience, compared to the whole, is a very very little thing, isn't it? From the standpoint of a distorted human it may seem like a tremendous thing. In fact the usual view is that we can't be perfect, for instance; therefore if as an individual it is anticipated that we must be perfect, that seems like a tremendous undertaking, such a vast thing. But if we consider God, how really insignificant that undertaking is!—no problem at all. Let us not therefore lose sight of God in the highest, with respect to Whom, in our consciousness of God in individual being, we may be deeply humble.

"Glory to God in the highest." God's will is done in heaven, not only the heaven as it relates to this little speck in the universe but the heaven which relates to the whole universe. What comes to focus in our particular field of responsibility is a relatively small thing, but vitally important to the whole. But we need to have a balance in our own consciousness and experience as it relates to God.

In the Bible there were many occasions when different ones became conscious in some measure of the greatness of divine being. Fear ensued, and those concerned felt inclined to repent in dust and ashes because they became conscious of how corrupt they were in the human sense and how unholy their attitudes and actions and ways had been. As long as we have an inflated idea of our own worth, somehow, without ever having experienced our real relatedness to the truth of God, we need to repent in dust and ashes.

There is a very beautiful allegorical story at the conclusion of this booklet of ours, The Bhagavad-Gita, where Arjuna had accepted the instruction of Krishna and had begun to experience something new in relationship to himself. There came a point where he longed to see God—"Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God"—not just to see God in the sense of his individual experience of being but to see the wholeness of God in which his individual experience of being was contained.

Krishna offered him the opportunity of letting his consciousness expand so that he might share a greater balance in his experienced awareness of God. If we do not have this balance we almost inevitably lack the sacred respect which is essential to the true knowing of our own divine being. God has been described as "awe-ful." Those who become aware of God are filled with awe. This is not very characteristic of human beings in relationship to things divine: they can take them or leave them—"God, who's He?" Even when there begins to be a consciousness of the reality of divine being, the real nature of God Almighty tends to be obscured by the concern of the individual with his own expression of rightness. I am not saying we shouldn't be concerned with that expression; we should. But we need to have an awareness of God which is vastly greater than this. Even if we come to the point of the fulness of the expression of divine being on earth, it would seem such a little, insignificant thing, scarcely discernible in the wholeness of God. And of course if we have that fulness of divine expression on earth we naturally would experience this balanced awareness and humility with respect to God.

Let me read to you something from this passage. Arjuna says:

Fain would I see,

As Thou Thyself declar'st it, Sovereign Lord!

The likeness of that glory of Thy Form

Wholly revealed. O Thou Divinest One!

If this can be, if I may bear the sight,

Make Thyself visible, Lord of all prayer!

Show me Thy very Self, the Eternal God!

Then the word of Krishna came:

Gaze, then, thou Son of Pritha! I manifest for thee
Those hundred thousand thousand shapes that clothe my Mystery:
I show thee all my semblances, infinite, rich, divine,
My changeful hues, my countless forms. See! in this face of mine,
Wonders unnumbered, Indian Prince! revealed to none save thee.
Behold! this is the Universe!—Look! what is live and dead
I gather all in one—in Me!  Gaze, as thy lips have said,
ON GOD ETERNAL, VERY GOD! See Me! see what thou prayest!

Thou canst not!—nor, with human eyes, Arjuna! ever mayest!

Therefore I give thee sense divine. Have other eyes, new light!

And, look! This is My glory, unveiled to mortal sight!

SERVANT: Then, O King! the God, so saying,
Stood, to Pritha's Son displaying
All the splendour, wonder, dread
Of His vast Almighty-head.
Out of countless eyes beholding,
Out of countless mouths commanding,
Countless mystic forms enfolding
In one Form: supremely standing
Countless radiant glories wearing,
Countless heavenly weapons bearing,
Crowned with garlands of star-clusters,
Robed in garb of woven lustres,
Breathing from His perfect Presence
Breaths of every subtle essence
Of all heavenly odours; shedding
Blinding brilliance; overspreading—
Boundless, beautiful—all spaces
With His all-regarding faces;
So He showed! If there should rise
Suddenly within the skies
Sunburst of a thousand suns
Flooding earth with beams undeemed-of.
Then might be that Holy One's
Majesty and radiance dreamed of!

So did Pandu's Son behold
All this universe enfold
All its huge diversity
Into one vast shape, and be
Visible, and viewed, and blended
In one Body—subtle, splendid,
Nameless—the All-comprehending
God of Gods, the Never-Ending
Deity!

But, sore amazed,
Thrilled, overfilled, dazzled, and dazed,
Arjuna knelt; and bowed his head,
And clasped his palms; and cried, and said:

ARJUNA: Yea! I have seen! I see!
Lord! all is wrapped in Thee!
The gods are in Thy glorious frame! the creatures
Of earth, and heaven, and hell
In Thy Divine form dwell,
And in Thy countenance shine all the features
Of Brahma, sitting lone
Upon His lotus-throne;
Of saints and sages, and the serpent races;
Yea! mightiest Lord! I see
Thy thousand thousand arms, and breasts, and faces,
And eyes—on every side
Perfect, diversified;
And nowhere end of Thee, nowhere beginning,
Nowhere a centre! Shifts—
Wherever soul's gaze lifts—
Thy central Self, all-wielding, and all-winning!

Infinite King! I see
The anadem on Thee,
The club, the shell, the discus; see Thee burning
In beams insufferable,
Lighting earth, heaven, and hell
With brilliance blazing, glowing, flashing; turning
Darkness to dazzling day,
Look I whichever way;
Ah, Lord! I worship Thee, the Undivided,
The Uttermost of thought,
The Treasure-Palace wrought
To hold the wealth of the worlds; the Shield provided
To shelter virtue's laws;
The Fount whence Life's stream draws
All waters of all rivers of all being:
The One Unborn, Unending:
Unchanging and Unblending!
With might and majesty, past thought, past seeing!

Father of all below,
Of all above, of all the worlds within,
Teacher of teachers; more
To reverence and adore
Than all which is adorable and high!
How, in the wide worlds three
Should any equal be?
Should any other share Thy Majesty?

Therefore, with body bent
And reverent intent,
I praise, and serve, and seek Thee, asking grace.
As father to a son,
As friend to friend, as one
Who loveth to his lover, turn Thy face
In gentleness on me!
Good is it I did see
This unknown marvel of Thy Form! But fear
Mingles with joy! Retake,
Dear Lord! for pity's sake
Thine earthly shape, which earthly eyes may bear!

Be merciful, and show
The visage that I know;
Let me regard Thee, as of yore, arrayed
With disc and forehead-gem
With mace and anadem,
Thou that sustainest all things! Undismayed

Let me once more behold
The form I loved of old,
Thou of the thousand arms and countless eyes!
This frightened heart is fain
To see restored again
My Charioteer, in Krishna's kind disguise.

Let true perspective be restored and know the greatness of our calling!

O great Lord of the heavens, who art Lord of the earth also, wherever the earth appears in all the universe, we are in Thine hand. Without Thee we are not. With Thee we know the truth and we are true to it. In humbleness before Thee we kneel in spirit with head bowed to the earth, but nevertheless looking upward to Thee. For Thou art our Master, our Lord and King. Present on earth we are here for Thee, and for Thee alone. Into Thy hands we are committed. How great and glorious is Thy being. How insignificant is our own, and yet inseparable from Thee. Let Your Light So Shine

Let  Your  Light  So  Shine

from

Radiant Light — The  Transforming  Power

Martin Exeter   December 13, 1987

It's good to see your smiling faces.

All is well!

Let your light so shine.

I am the light of the world.

The human mind—what is it that shall characterize that facility? We are well aware that the prince of darkness has occupied this mental capacity in the world the way it is. His occupation involves a continuing battle. We have a recognition that this mental capacity should be filled with the light rather than the darkness. It is the same mental capacity whether it is occupied by the light or the darkness. In the first heaven it is occupied by the darkness; in the new heaven it is occupied by the light; but it is the same mental capacity in either case. Obviously it is not a matter of shucking off our minds, because then you would be left without any capacity at all. We have this rather remarkable mental capacity, which heretofore has apparently chosen darkness but which also is quite capable of choosing light. There is something that can happen in the first heaven which may transform that facility into the new heaven.

It's the same capacity, which is either filled with darkness or filled with light. It has been so customary to be filled with darkness that the idea of being filled with light strikes terror in many hearts. Everything would then be exposed. Are we still somewhat afraid of what might be seen if we were factually filled with light? There would be no hiding place: to be completely exposed. It seems that the original condition was one of nakedness, indicative of complete exposure. That was natural because the radiance of light was natural and there was nothing to hide from. In allowing our minds to be restored from the state of satan to the state of Lucifer it is a matter of participating in the radiance of light. After all, Lucifer is the light-bearer. We could not have the experience of Lucifer without bearing the light.

So there is in this heavenly capacity the possibility of either maintaining what has always been known in human experience since the fall, or allowing the door to be opened so that the radiance of light may put in an appearance. This is what is being described by "war in heaven." It's war in the first heaven. That's the only starting point anyone has. If the new heaven was already a fact in human experience there would be no problem. But the fact is the first heaven, the heaven of darkness; so the light needs to permeate that darkness. We ourselves have been willing, up to a point at least, to accept the responsibility of letting the darkness be banished. Our main effort in this regard was not so much to let the light shine as to get rid of the darkness, but you can't get rid of the darkness without letting the light shine. It is simply a matter of letting the light shine. The shining of the light banishes the darkness.

It is the fact that the darkness does not comprehend the light. How could it? It's dark! But the darkness vanishes when the light shines. The idea has been that there is some great struggle to go on, a great battle, an endless battle apparently, between the light and the darkness. But there is no battle between the light and the darkness. When the light goes on, the darkness is gone. Can you imagine some situation where the light is having a hard time getting rid of the darkness? It is simply a matter of letting the light shine. If one is identified with the darkness, the darkness comprehends not the light. We have much evidence of that fact all around us and we have much experience of that fact within us. When it is dark it is very, very dark. But when it is light there's no darkness. What a very simple thing this is.

The shining of the light prevails when it is present. The prince of darkness does not prevail and is cast out of the heaven. When the prince of darkness is actually cast out of that first heaven, which he has occupied for so long, there is the new heaven. It wasn't something other than it was before. The place is the same, the space is the same, but it's now occupied by light and not by darkness. There is no question as to the outcome of the battle, or the war, as long as the light is allowed to shine. Defeat comes and has been maintained because there is a struggling within the darkness. We have noted how the heads of the dragon contend with each other. They are vying for the minds of men. That's the sort of battle we can do without.

We see people everywhere involved in this war. That battle is of no concern whatsoever; it doesn't matter—IDM! Whatever is done it will have an unfortunate effect. It doesn't matter which way it goes, it will have an unfortunate effect, because here is the prince of darkness getting everybody well confused so that he may maintain his position, which is that of governing human minds. I don't care to have my mind governed by the prince of darkness. How about you? One of his heads will tell you you should go this way and another head will tell you you should go that way. What difference does it make? I don't intend to go either way!

There is just one way, and that is the way of light. And when light is allowed to shine in the realm where the prince of darkness has held sway heretofore, there is what might be described as war. When the light begins to shine because you let it shine, all sorts of dark things erupt; there is war in this way. But darkness has no power over light. Why is it that so easily there is a fearful attitude toward the darkness? "It's going to prevail. Oh dear me! It's going to overwhelm me. This darkness is building up all around!" What about letting the light shine, and where did the darkness go? It is the constant radiation of the light that dispels the darkness. It's rather magical, isn't it?

Let your light so shine. We are reaching a point where we begin to understand what that means: no more fear of the darkness. Let your light so shine. I am the light of the world, of my world in particular. If my light shines in my world it's not dark anymore to ME. This shining of the light comes, as we know, individually speaking. One must let it happen, for oneself. But there begins to be a collective shining of the light in consequence. And the darkness is in the process of being dispelled. Keep the light coming.

What fearful creatures human beings are—I suppose in a way, naturally so; they have been creatures of the dark. We've all been that way and we have suffered so in that darkness: plagues, famine, earthquakes. All these things appear in the darkness. When such things put in an appearance in our own experience, even in our own flesh, what do we do? "Oh dear, this is the darkness! I must go to somebody who will manipulate this darkness so it isn't dark anymore." That's rather ridiculous, isn't it? Let the light shine—the only thing to be done! But one must do it for oneself. There is a tendency to rush around, find other people who are going to switch on the light somehow for us. No they're not! They may provide momentary alleviation of something to give us the opportunity to let the light shine.

If any of us have moved through difficulties of any kind—environmental difficulties, circumstantial difficulties, difficulties in our own bodies, difficulties of whatever kind—and someone has helped to alleviate whatever they were, one may give thanks for that because one is still on hand to let the light shine. Otherwise any help we receive went for nothing. What happens when these things put in an appearance around us? Do we revert into the old state? Or is there a recognition that the shining of the light is the only way by which wholeness can be restored? The wholeness of our own physical flesh depends upon whether the light shines or not, not upon whether you took your vitamins today. While you are meditating upon the advisability of letting your light shine, the vitamins may be useful. But don't meditate too long!

Let your light so shine. And, as I say, this is an individual matter initially. As the responsibility is taken individually and the light does shine individually, there is no more fear of the darkness. Then there begins to be a collective situation, which we know something about, don't we? The multiplication of the shining of the light is exponential in consequence, but it can't happen if we let the light shine a little and then decide to duck back into the darkness. If we have this on-again, off-again situation, the multiplication collectively can't take place—very much at least.

The shining of the light brings forth an awareness of one's own angelic identity, which IS the light. The light is present because one still lives, the angelic identity is present. As Lucifer is restored there is the transparency for the revelation on earth of that angelic identity. It comes with the light. I am the light of the world. I am the light of the world because I have a physical form in the world, and through that physical form the light shines. But it reaches the physical form through my mind, through the potential new heaven. As the light shines, the darkness is cast out and there begins to be a new heaven on earth within the body of mankind, a safe place consistently maintained by the shining of the light.

It is the shining of the light that permits creation to occur. Perhaps we would think of that in terms of re-creation, but it's creation. And as there is the clear shining of the light through a unified body, the prince of darkness is cast into the earth. There is no heaven for him anymore, and all power is given to this new heaven present on earth by which the creation occurs. Magic! Magic to the human view. It's been happening all along in a way—as we noted, a very sluggish way—but when Lucifer is in place and the light is borne, behold I come quickly!

The light shines and creation occurs. The light shines in our individual worlds. Whatever your world is, that is available for the shining of the light. It doesn't matter what it is. The only world anyone has is the world where he is now. It doesn't matter what it is, that's the world; that's where the light needs to shine. It has nothing to do with the seeming circumstances; it doesn't matter how the world may look. If the light isn't shining one doesn't see it anyway. But when the light does shine in that world it will be found to be something entirely different to what one thought it was.

One doesn't need to move anywhere. Let your light so shine exactly where you are! Where else could you let it shine? To say "I will let it shine if I go over there" is a cop-out. If you can't let it shine here you certainly can't let it shine where you are not. Let the light shine exactly where one is. One is there to let the light shine. That's why one is where one is. And when the light shines creation occurs. Let your light so shine now. That is always the natural thing to occur. And when it does, all things are made new.

The light is stable. It's always present—sometimes more intense, sometimes less so, but it's always present. There is always that point of orientation. It's obviously there when the sun shines but it's also there when the Morning Star is present. It provides a point of orientation. The yoke is easy and the burden light. The form of Man, is light. That is the nature and quality of the form of Man. It's fallen quite a ways from that experience. But the light is the creative power; by Him all things were made that are made. There is no problem from the standpoint of the light. The problem has been in the space which has been occupied by satan, but to which Lucifer now returns so that the light is borne.

How quickly the creation occurs as that steadfast light is maintained individually and consequently together. The sole concern is to let the light shine. One must come to an awareness that one is in the dark. Then there is the recognition that the light must shine and there is a willingness to let the light shine. And behold the darkness vanishes away. So in every circumstance, in every moment of our living, let your light so shine.

Atomic Power

Atomic  Power

Correlation  of  Concurrent  Cycles

Uranda   July 11, 1954  Class

We have been considering together the principle of reciprocity, and through this pattern of meditation we have drawn closer to an understanding of that which is essential if we are to rise above that level of function and accomplishment which is already established and widely known in the world. There has been a beginning, as we all well know, in relationship to accomplishing that which is necessary in the Lord's service in the earth, but we also know that there is a need for greater power, a greater degree of accomplishment, than we have yet known.

We have recognized that increasing power, as such, would not be helpful but would only bring devastating results. Increased power, in and through us, without the development of the control which makes use of that power on a constructive basis would be just as devastating, just as terrible.

If the outworking of God's plan on earth had not moved forward, if there had not been real steps taken by which the spiritual power might be made manifest on earth, I do not think that man could have reached the point he has with respect to the physical manifestation of power which we might well classify as the counterpart of spiritual power. If we fail to see the correlation between that in which we are engaged and that which commands the attention of the world, we make that to which we are called in the name of our King to be of little or no value. By such an attitude we establish a basis on which our only hope can be defeated. It is difficult for me to approach this subject and deal with it without making some personal reference to myself, which could be misunderstood, and if it is misunderstood it will tend to hinder our program, rather than to help.

Now if I came into the world with a divine commission—and there is the point of possible divergence of viewpoint and opinion, and that is the reason I put it this way, not because there is any doubt in my own mind but because I recognize that there has been, and can be, doubt in other people's minds—but if I came into the world with a divine commission, which has been the motivating factor in building this ministry to this point, it is obvious that the development of the program in the overall sense would not be left strictly to that which was directly involved in the sense of this ministry as such. This that we are doing here is of utmost importance, yes; but that which I came into the world to accomplish is not in any sense limited to that which is being done here.

Many cycles were established and opened up in the world to be carried forward more or less simultaneously in many fields, not just that which was immediately in front of me in a visible sense, which has come to the point which we share in this hour. Now, to whatever degree any human mind has the idea that that in which I am engaged, and that for which I am responsible, is pictured here, that person has not yet caught the vision. From the standpoint of those who do not have a basis for that vision a statement with respect to anything else seems to be arrogant, seems to be egotistical, seems to be utterly fantastic, and I know that. My business is the presenting of the truth. But as we have continued to this point where we can begin to glimpse the actual working of the principle of reciprocity, it has carried forward to a point where I cannot refrain, and be true to that commission which brought me here—I cannot refrain from bringing to your attention certain facts, whether they seem to you to be fantastic or not. But if you imagine that that in which I am engaged is limited to that which is here known and here formed, you are very wrong.

There are many fields where individuals have permitted themselves to be the means by which cycles have been initiated, where those involved have absolutely no awareness of any idea that I, as a person or a being, have anything whatsoever to do with that which they are doing. They do not know anything about it, and to those who do not have the true vision it would seem fantastic and ridiculous for me to suggest that I do have something to do about it, because in the external sense, shall we say, I am not in position—nor am I interested, in fact—I am not in position to offer what would be classified as conclusive proof.

But to those who have any vision here, it will not seem so fantastic to realize that the cycles initiated were not limited to that which was directly and personally under my hand in an outer sense. This is that, moving toward the fulfilment of the Law in human beings, so that spiritual power might manifest under control. Concurrently, other cycles were initiated through individuals who had no awareness of a personal relationship with me and the program, who had no idea that they were doing anything in relationship to a cosmic plan, generally speaking anyway, and who had no idea of any endeavor such as this.

Now I am not in the slightest degree interested in convincing them that there is any correlation. But if we are to understand the significance and importance of what we are doing we need to begin to see it, we need to begin to know, not just from the standpoint of what I know but from the standpoint of what we all know, because if this is not seen and accepted and realized, we are never going to reach the point where we can exert the essential control to prevent the other cycles, which have been opened up concurrently, from going clear out of control.

The point is that these cycles that were opened in various fields, the cycle that developed and came to a head in relationship to atomic power, that was shaped into atomic bombs and the H-bomb, etc.—all of these things, they are the result of cycles opened on earth for which I am responsible. Whether anyone else on the face of the earth knows it or acknowledges it or not, I am. I am responsible for these cycles that have opened, the cycles that are working in the field of medicine, in the heart of the medical profession, cycles that are at work in the armed forces of our country, cycles that are at work in the realms of government—not just in the United States, by the way—cycles that are at work in every field of human endeavor that appears to the world to have any significance or importance.

In every cycle of endeavor which the world thinks to be important I have a personal responsibility—with respect to cycles that were initiated and opened and set in motion concurrently with this development which you share here consciously. And the control factors essential to keeping those cycles moving correctly depends upon what I get done here. It cannot be controlled in a direct sense through those cycles themselves.

The control factors have not developed as rapidly as I had anticipated and they have not developed as rapidly as some of these other cycles have developed. A number of the cycles that have been working concurrently with this program are behind us in development, not enough to make it a matter of concern; they are not pushing us any. But some of them are getting too much ahead of us. We have reached a point where actually I did not have any choice left but to bring this to your attention, to help establish in your consciousness a deeper realization of the real significance of that in which we are engaged.

Why do you suppose I have had the attitude I have had with respect to the outworking of all these factors in diplomatic circles and world controversies? If you look back and analyze it, you will see that I could not very well have had the attitude that I did have on any basis other than this, knowing that if we function correctly and establish the machinery, there would be a control factor beyond and above anything that the world has conceived of.

From the standpoint of the fulfilment of the divine plan, it is expected that my part in it, or the relationship between this and that, will not be known for a long time to come. I am not interested in establishing any idea of relatedness.

Now if you do not like such a big responsibility, if you do not like to be associated where this idea exists, or where the leader has such a fantastic idea, or where there is such a great responsibility, now is the time to pull out. If you don't want to share it, now is the time to pull out and sever connections with me, because as far as I am concerned that is what it is, and whether you are aware of it or have been or not, it is my responsibility, and if you are going to continue to share this ministry with me you are going to have to share that responsibility.

If we take a good look at it you will see, I am sure, that any ideas that just this program right here, immediately at hand, could somehow, all by its little self, accomplish what has to be accomplished in the world—that would to my mind be fantastic. I don't think one of you can look back and say that I said that we were going to have to do it all by ourselves. I have suggested that there were other people in the world who would have a part and a share. Perhaps I didn't undertake to tell you just how. But these other cycles were opened and they have been working concurrently with this one, with the idea, as far as the divine design is concerned, that this one would develop rapidly enough to provide the essential spiritual control to keep the others in hand, without their knowing anything about it. It is not at all essential to the accomplishment of our purpose that they should know anything about it, at least not for quite a long while.

But if you look back, I did tell you, that every activity upon the face of the earth, every church, every school, every educational institution, every philosophy, the whole works, was in one way or another—insofar as its initial aspects were concerned, or the truth that was contained in it was concerned, or insofar as its value was concerned—it was all a part of the program of the Third Sacred School. Did any of you ever hear me make a statement to that effect? Certainly you have. But these programs are moving concurrently. If we had to wait until we reached a point where we had all the control and could be assured that you and you and you would be in your place and all completely prepared, and then we would open up these other cycles, do you know that before we could get to the point of using them you would be dead? And it would have to be done all over again, and there wouldn't be any chance of doing what we set out to do.

The only hope of doing the job was to initiate the cycles concurrently. And there were qualified individuals in the realm of science, and all of its different phases, etc., to initiate and carry on these other cycles, and they were used for that purpose. Whether they knew anything about it or not is beside the point. But it was left to me to personally oversee the development of the program which should reach the point where the vibrational or spiritual pattern of control should arise and in season be made manifest, so that it would be there when the time came when it was needed, so that these other cycles might be kept in a range of control and accomplish that which was needed. I am forced to admit that we are not as far along as we ought to be.

This power that I have been talking to you about for so long, the spiritual power, the power of the Holy Spirit, can manifest only on certain controlled conditions. The development of the counterpart of that power in the physical world has moved on apace and is ahead of us—atomic bombs, etc. I am not at all concerned about the atomic bombs if we reach the point where we exert the counterpart power correctly, but if we don't we will have helped to produce a Frankenstein monster which will destroy us. I'm not afraid of any such consequence; I just hope that we can get the job done so that it doesn't happen. Because a lot of people would suffer. A lot of people that do not need to suffer would suffer. It isn't for myself that I am concerned; it is for you and a lot of others—millions of them.

It is this counterpart power, in a spiritual sense, that needs to manifest. God works through human beings and the natural channels. And do you think you are the only human beings on earth? Not by a long shot. There are a lot of people out there, and they are doing something too—the scientists, all of the programs, the atomic power plants, the UN, and other cycles—they are a part of it. How is this power going to accomplish so much? By simply working through the human beings who are already in their respective fields in relationship to control.

Have I ever said anything to you about control that is important? And did I ever say anything about the secret place, or heavenly magic, or any of these other things—have I? You are not going to have to go out and do what Oppenheimer did, or someone else. They have done, or are doing, their job. It is wonderful. I have watched it with tremendous interest. Did you ever notice that, that I have an interest in all these things that are going on? Just casually, as a bystander? No, not at all. It is a part of my job. They are my people, whether they know it or not, just as much as you are. They don't have to know it; you do, because you were supposed to provide me with a means of having a control pattern that would keep them from hurting themselves and a lot of other people. What they did had to be done.

Some people imagine that the world would be better off if the atomic bomb idea had never been developed. I don't agree. It is important. I am not going to tell you how or why, or just what part it is going to play. Speculation will not get you anywhere. If you become fearful, that will not help. In human strength alone you can't do a thing in the world about it, and you know it. Can we do something about it? Is it so fantastic? Am I just suffering from an hallucination, illusions of grandeur or something, got an idea that I am much more important than I really am?

My concern is: Am I going to get my job done in time? If I don't, a lot of people will pay an awful price. It holds very little gain. It will not be all loss, but it could be a lot more tragic than it needs to be. There will be some tragedy at best. At best there will be tragedy; we cannot prevent it all. It is impossible, because there are too many things outside of the cycles, the primary cycles that are at work, and human beings are peculiar creatures and we have been pretty slow about getting that control pattern developed.

How is this control to come, the control factor in manifestation? I was commissioned to get that into operation. That was my personal project—control. Have I ever said anything about control, dominion, kingdom at hand, or any of these related subjects? What was I talking about? Just words somehow? I was seeking to help you reach a point where you could intelligently work with me in the discharge of this responsibility, and if you don't want to share that responsibility, now is the time to get out. If you do, then I will expect something of you—not just a little but much, not self-centeredness but selfless service, to the end that this control pattern will take form and begin to have more meaning.

In spite of all of the uncertain factors, there has been a good deal of control exerted in the world, whether you know it or not. A good many things have worked fairly close to the point that they were supposed to. There has been quite a bit of control, but not enough, and some of the cycles are getting ahead of us; and if we fail and they get out of control, then I fail, and that will be that as far as this generation is concerned, as far as possibly a number of generations are concerned. Even if a few people survived on earth—and there might very well be a few here and there—it might easily take quite a while.

I have pointed out that this is man's last chance, man as we know him, as we have his history for the past five or six thousand years. It is because man as we know him would not emerge in the next cycle. It would be somewhat different, but that would be speculation on your part if you tried to figure out what I mean. But it could easily take another five or six thousand years to reach a point where we would be this close to the victory once more, and there could be a lot of suffering in the interval, and God would have to wait. And even if a thousand years is as one day to the Lord, who wants to keep Him waiting for even a week? I don't. It is not my intent.

I am not saying that this is what is going to happen; I am only pointing out that there will be a tragic result if we fail and if that control pattern is not made manifest, if we are there with too little too late. That has been one of the tragic things in the world in the past in many, many ways: too little too late. What will it be with us? What will it be with me? We shall see what we shall see.
