The Word — Expressed Not Interpreted

How much dependence is placed upon someone else to sustain one's own right expression in living? How dependent are you, is anyone who participates in this Body, upon others to maintain your own expression of rightness? This is a parasitic condition when it is present. It saps the lifeblood from the Body of the Archangel and places undue stress in various places in that body. If that stress reaches beyond a certain point then the individual physical body of somebody is going to lose its ability to encompass the spirit of that one in right expression. At that point it is fitting then that the physical body be relinquished.
Obviously, as angels there is what may well be called an interdependence. We all have interlocking responsibilities, but those responsibilities do not include the necessity for anyone else to sustain our own personal expression. Each individual has that responsibility himself or herself. Wherever there is an attitude which requires encouragement, recognition, there is a parasitic condition. Do any of you demand that you be encouraged, feeling resentful if you are not? Do any of you demand a recognition? What a wishy-washy state! What a useless condition, extending decay into the Body of the Archangel. Each individual as an angel has the responsibility of playing a particular part in manifest form on earth as a part of this One Body. This certainly requires that there be a coordinated expression between all concerned. In that sense we each as individuals carry our own particular Burden of Light, but we do not require anybody else to carry it for us or anyone else to expend their life force in making sure that we ourselves carry it. To the extent that that requirement is there the life force of the whole Body is being sapped. Such a state of affairs is certainly not right and becomes more and more dangerous insofar as those who constitute this Body are concerned.
We need to take a good look at this now—facts need to be faced in the light. If one is letting the light shine, carrying one's own responsibility in spirit, then one will see many things. Some of the things that are seen may be more pleasing than others; some of the things that are seen may be quite displeasing. We don't need to judge. We're not in the business of judging but merely of seeing what we need to see so that what needs to be rebuked may be rebuked.
I would emphasize the fact that in this matter of rebuke the statement was made, “The Lord rebuke thee.” It was also stated that when he, the Spirit of Truth, the Comforter, is come he will reprove the world. The world is not going to be reproved by human egos, by the minds of human beings. The mind of a human being judges what it considers to be worthy of rebuke and may undertake some rebuke on this basis, but nothing whatsoever is achieved by this. All down through the ages there have been good people who sought to rebuke the evil in themselves, and in others incidentally, but the world has changed very little; certainly not because of that at all. So human ego rebuke is a waste of time. The rebuke is by the Spirit of Truth.
“The Lord rebuke thee.” These words were related to a contest, as it was put, over the body of Moses, the body of the Spirit of Truth, this Body—it is applicable now—this Body, the Body of the Spirit of Truth. There is contention over this Body between the Archangel and the devil, the mental identity of the human ego on the one hand and the Archangel on the other. The Archangel extends the rebuke. The arrogant human mind thinks to rebuke in its own way, according to its own views, but this was described in the Book of Job as satan coming also among them—the human mind which thinks it is capable of judging what should be rebuked, and it's going to learn how to do this.
There are those who presume that they are going to learn, mentally speaking, how to do this by reading the mailings or the literature; but when the human ego reads the expression of the Word it never sees what is actually being said. All that is done is to react to what is being said on the basis of its own state of consciousness, and then it is assumed that it knows and the human ego tends to feel quite self-righteous: “Now I know. I read the mailing; now I know.” But for the most part all the individual has done is to react to what was said in the mailing on the basis of his own state of consciousness. He never saw what was there at all. He never saw the Word. He may have had a suspicion that the Word was there somewhere but he interprets it on the basis of his own state of consciousness. There is a vast difference between this and angelic agreement.
Emphasis has been placed upon the importance of the Word as it is extended in form through these services, for instance this service, which later becomes available to others through various means—but is available to you now. If as a human ego you sit there listening to what I say, reacting to what I say—not adversely maybe; probably it would be called response—nevertheless reacting to what I say on the basis of your own state of consciousness, you may develop quite a theory. You may convince yourself that you know the truth, or at least a lot about it; but the fact of the matter is that, like the magicians of Egypt, through your enchantments you are attempting to duplicate the action of the Spirit of Truth. It seemed to Pharaoh and to his magicians that they were able to do pretty well everything that Moses and Aaron could do. It seemed so to them but it actually wasn't so. The extent of vision and awareness of the human ego consciousness is quite restricted. The comparable extent of spiritual vision that falls within that range can be compared, one aspect to another, and because it falls within that range it looks very much the same; but there is a very great deal beyond that range related to the actual expression of the Spirit of Truth, nothing beyond that range related to the extent of the ego consciousness. So everything is judged and seen, observed, within this little narrow, restricted area of human consciousness, but the Spirit of Truth alone can achieve what is necessary on the basis of reproof.
I have a particular responsibility to provide a focus of the Word, the expression of the Spirit of Truth, as it relates to this body, that all who are willing to relinquish the human ego approach may begin to discover the reality of angelic agreement. As I say, that is a totally different experience to sitting apart as an isolated human ego listening to words and translating those words on the basis of the state of one's human ego consciousness. That attitude and approach was described as the one taken by the black magicians of Egypt. If the human ego control is there, and maintained in a person, that's the only approach he can make, and he permanently excludes himself from the experience of the truth. Anyone who is dependent upon others to be maintained in seeming association with the truth is still functioning in human ego consciousness.
I brought this to particular point before by suggesting that the apparent need that a person feels for encouragement and for recognition is evidence of this. That attitude which requires such things needs to be rebuked. Fundamentally it relates to self-pity, doesn't it? “Poor me, nobody understands me, nobody cares for me, nobody provides me with what I see as being necessary. I need to be encouraged. I need to be helped. I need some kind of recognition for all the wonderful works I do.” Do you recall something of the messages to the churches contained in the Book of Revelation? The word almost invariably began, “I know thy works and thy patience and all the wonderful things you've done. I know all that and it doesn't mean a thing. It doesn't mean anything at all. Get that out of the way and remember from whence thou art fallen. Remember thy first love. Remember the truth.” I would emphasize the fact that love is hellfire if it becomes disassociated from the truth. There is only a true expression of love when it gives evidence that the Spirit of Truth is present and in expression. There has been so much claiming to love, but what is the evidence?
The Body of the Archangel is at the same time the Body of the Spirit of Truth. When there is such a Body and the Archangel walks on earth free to do what he is here to do, then the Comforter has come and reproves the world, the whole body of mankind. But the first reproof comes in the Body of the Archangel, that the Archangel may have a Body that can be used for his purposes. It is used for his purposes when those who compose this Body in manifest form on earth are in fact the angels of the Lord—in fact, not merely in fancy. They are so in fact to the extent that the Word of the Lord is their Word, a firsthand Word.
Heretofore it's been largely a secondhand word, a word interpreted by the human ego. The human ego says, “Martin said that,” when it wasn't what I said at all. It was merely what the human ego interpreted what I said to be. So arguments break out between human egos and there is an attempt to put down other people. Pharaoh knows not the Lord. All he knows is what his magicians tell him and the experiences that occur in his environment. If he imagines that he can control these things, well, “Who is the Lord? Who cares?”
The only way by which a knowing of the truth may come on earth is as there is a continuing in the Word. It has been mentioned that there have been those who thought they should develop the ability to express the Word themselves, without regard to the Word which is provided and which has made possible the growth and the development of this Body thus far. Without that Word there would be nothing, absolutely nothing! What's the point, then, of reacting to the Word, translating it according to some human ego consciousness and propagating that as though it were the truth when it isn't? It's a denial of the truth.
One must discover what it means to move with the Word that is provided, so that one is so permeated with that Word that one discovers the truth of oneself. Then there is something to express firsthand, but not before. There are those who have been reading the mailings for years and years and years, consistently interpreting them on the basis of the human ego state of consciousness, priding themselves perhaps upon what they think they know when in fact they don't know anything that has any meaning. The meaning is in the expression of the Word itself, not in interpretations of it. Hasn't there been enough interpretation in this regard in the world? Every religion that there is on earth is such an interpretation, the mental interpretation of spiritual things, and the mind has no ability whatsoever to encompass spirit in any case.
Only when a person is capable of utilizing the words that are provided, experiencing the fact that they are his own words, can there begin to be a consciousness of the truth. The words do not have to be interpreted but expressed. When there is a capacity to do this, then that individual will find that in the daily experiences of living he also has something of the Word to express, something that isn't being read; but until you can read it first as your own word you don't know what it is. There are lots of people who have read the mailings to themselves for years and been delighted with their interpretations of these words—it made them feel so good—but who never associated themselves with the expression of those words. Here is the Spirit of Truth, the Spirit of this Body, the Spirit of the Archangel. Only in oneness with that Spirit can one be in position to let one's own particular field of responsibility be included rightly in the expression of the Archangel, in other words be a part of His Body. Otherwise His Body remains sick and crippled, pulling in every direction.
How many are there within the sound of my voice now, or within range of the Tone that is sounding, whose living reveals the Word in expression? It is this and this alone which allows the Spirit of Truth to have form on earth by which the world may be reproved. When the Spirit of Truth reproves you in your human consciousness it does so because you are in absolute agreement with that expression of the Spirit of Truth. You are not and cannot be in agreement with that expression as long as you are merely sitting back as a human ego and interpreting it. The world is the way it is because human beings have been doing this ever since the fall—and there is no solution in interpretations, no answer, no voice.
As I say, I have a particular part to play in this, obviously a necessary part. How else could it be done? There is a babble of voices in the world, a babble of interpretations; but somewhere, somehow, the Spirit of Truth is represented, the Word is spoken, the Tone of it is sounded, providing the opportunity for all who will to be one with that, to let the rebuke come because of that in their own consciousness. One can always interpret something so as to get out from under the necessity of accepting the rebuke in the human consciousness, and this has been done consistently; but when you take the responsibility of speaking that Word in your own living there cannot be any cop-out. But if you stay somewhere off to the side, maintaining your own state and doing this on the basis of a parasitic attitude toward others, which is always present in such case, then you never know the truth, no matter how self-righteous you may feel about your interpretations of it; and there has been some appalling self-righteousness in this regard.
So the Word is spoken, the Spirit of Truth is represented, that there may be a means on earth for human beings, in spite of their embedded state in human ego consciousness, to awaken to the actual experience of the truth in expression in their momentary living. That can never be found by anyone all on his own. It is only found in the way that is provided. That way has been provided before, certainly, over the ages. We know something about that. That is very interesting; we see how it was interpreted and consequently rejected. But what about now? Are we going to do the same thing now as has been done repeatedly in the past? Or is the easy yoke accepted, and each one consequently carries the Burden of Light? This requires an honesty that is quite foreign to human experience. Yes, I know, I know, all the good things you have done—that's tremendous—but there is yet something that hasn't been done, and this which hasn't been done provides the only way of salvation.
The Word of the Spirit of Truth to the human consciousness present in his forming body is, “Let my people go.” The question is as to whether you are going to insist that the devil hold sway or whether you are willing to yield to the Archangel and the expression of his Word. These words are spoken to you here this morning in person, and to many more in spirit in this moment, but later also conveyed to their consciousness in various ways. Let this Word be heard and not interpreted. Let the Spirit of Truth be the clear expression of your living. It is that that is the rebuke. So let it be.

Annoint Thine Eyes With Eye-Salve

The Master said, “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh,” and, “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” And they begin to see God without waiting until they are dead. Blessed Ones, what is the pattern of values in your life? It is my business to help you to translate the Truths of Being into a setting where you can see them in relationship to yourselves. But it is your business to interpret that Truth in relationship to your own life so that it can be meaningful in your life. Just having the translation is not enough, whether it is in a book that you set upon the shelf, or in your mind which you set on the shelf of consciousness without seeing it in relationship to your daily living. You must make the interpretation, provide the application. I undertake to assist you in that direction, yes, but I cannot do it for you. I can offer you the translation, and that is why you come here, but how rapidly do you let the interpretation work out in the pattern of your life? That depends upon how much value you attach to that which is the Truth of God in relationship to your evaluation of other things.
If you really evaluate other things more, in any moment or in any hour or in any day, that affects the nature of your interpretation, because you are going to interpret everything on the basis of that which you value most, in fact, not what you claim to value most. Even if you have the translation your interpretations will be on the basis of that which you value most in actual fact, regardless of what you say with your lips.
We turn to Revelation, beginning with the Fourteenth Verse in the Third Chapter:
“And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God. I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot; I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.”
What is it that causes slowness? What is it that causes one to throw away the greatest blessings in life, the greatest opportunity? It is lukewarmness. Of course, if one is cold to the things of God, violently opposed, that is one thing, and we expect certain results to follow, but it is the lukewarmness that causes one to delude one's self, where it may seem one has the great opportunity for spiritual development and progress for the living of life and the reality of service. But what does one do about it? If one is lukewarm one drifts along, and that which is of God in the larger sense does not appear in the individual life. There is not the true pattern of evaluation. Lukewarm!
“I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.”
That means that unless lukewarmness becomes a thing of the past you cannot know the fulness of the blessings of God. What, then, are the levels of your evaluation?
“So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing…” That is what the individual believes, that is what he thinks. But what does God say about it?
“And knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked; I counsel thee to buy of me…” To buy, not just with dollars and cents, no, but it takes buying; it takes a yielding up of something that before was conceived to be of value for something that is of greater value to you.
“I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eye-salve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten; be zealous therefore, and repent.”
“Be zealous therefore, and repent.” A zealous person is not one who is lukewarm. There is a vibrancy, a depth of feeling, a level of evaluation that begins to have meaning in life. “And that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear…” Very often human beings imagine that if they are wearing clothing their shame is covered up. “And that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear.”
In what way does one become naked? If one's face of response is turned away from God one is not clothed in that white raiment of Divine provision. And the shame of one's nakedness, the shame of that which makes one turn one's face away from God, does appear. No matter how many clothes you wear, no matter how many overcoats you may put on, in the pattern of life itself the shame of nakedness appears.
Until the human being begins to think right, not according to what he thinks he wants but on the basis of the Truths of Being, he may think that he is rich and increased with goods and has need of nothing—but, Blessed Ones, until we think on the basis of the right patterns of evaluation, until we begin to be clothed with the white raiment which begins to be established in the depths of our beings when we turn the face of response to God, we cannot begin to have that Pattern of Being in life which is Divinely ordained. If we would share the Victory, if we would know the Resurrection and the Life, we must give heed to these things and follow our LORD and KING in letting the true values of life control.
When we find the pearl of great price we must act like it—the treasures of Heaven begin to have meaning on earth and we begin to be rich in the gold of God's Love. We begin to have the white raiment, and He anoints our eyes with eye-salve that we may see the Truths of Being, that we may see the right translations, and see to interpret those translations into the pattern of our lives to the Glory of God and to the Blessing of the children of men.
How I thank God for that spirit of devotion and understanding which brought you here to share this hour, and as we, being truly with one accord in this one place, let the Spirit of God's Love and the Spirit of His Truth have meaning in us there will be Life, and there will be the resurrection, or the lifting up, from the old pattern of life into a new Pattern of Life, the Pattern of Life that lets God's Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. And unless we, in this that the world calls the Easter season, allow the resurrection to take place more vividly, more fully, more completely, than ever before, under the inspiration of the Spirit of God and under the inspiration of seeing the earth beginning to move toward a new expression of life, in the springtime, we will have failed to interpret the Truths that are translated unto us in a manner which will let them have meaning to us.
Let us Live. But, to Live, there must be the resurrection first. Otherwise, we merely exist for a little time and are gone. Let us follow the Master and Live, and in that Living release the blessings of God to all who will receive on the face of the earth. I thank God for you and for all those who are with us in spirit, those who would so like to be here in this room, in this hour. May God's richest blessings be upon all of you, each and everyone, and peace be unto you.

Let Love Radiate in Our Daily Function

Explosion of Atomic Bombs #1 and #2
Uranda June 30, 1946
Those who have an opportunity to make their voices heard will be the ones that immediately shape the concepts which develop with respect to this [atomic bomb] test. I think we can anticipate that those who are sincerely turning to Spiritual things will meditate very seriously on the relationship between what we have just witnessed by means of radio, and Biblical prophecy. So far, while we may be able to see that point to some degree, since we will not be able to make our voices heard in an outer sense to very many people; and since the condition is as it is in the field of vibrations through Radiation, and focalization of the world Response, in consideration of the Spirit of the Word—this afternoon we have had the greatest opportunity that has ever been given to man by outer means, to Radiate into the focalized attention of the mass of humanity, and that vibration which we are able to set up and maintain and release tends to permeate the consciousness of those who truly respond in Love to the LORD, regardless of race, color, creed or people.
The exact point of the focalization of world attention, the thing that every one had in mind, the thing toward which thoughts were turned, was the bomb itself, and to the degree that the world mass as a whole was conscious of what was taking place, the atoms in that bomb represented their hopes and their fears. It represented the gateway to destruction or a key to a glorious future—and from that standpoint, that was the specific Current upon which I was giving my attention—and as the bomb exploded and the various phases of the manifestation of the phenomenon followed, it was as if the feeling attitude which each individual had focalized in that bomb was returned back to him by means of the explosion—as if the world vibration of attention had reached out and the currents of fear or hope or whatever may have focalized at one point for a brief time, and then by means of the explosion, all of those focalized vibrations were scattered back to the points from which they originated in humanity. That means the intensification of all the feelings and attitudes that human beings have with respect to the future. It is more or less in the nature of plowing the ground, and tilling the soil of the mass consciousness.
And with respect to certain peculiar focalizations, be they ever so small, we are reminded of this text from Second Peter: “But the day of the Lord shall come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness.”
We do not anticipate that the whole earth, as some have imagined, is simply going to dissolve. All it says is: “… in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” “The heavens shall pass away …” There will be that which is in the atmosphere above us that will be damaged, “… and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” Actually, in the focalization of the bomb, we see that the prophecy is fulfilled, not as if the whole world as an earth had experienced it, but from the standpoint of the atomic bomb and the place it was exploded—that was true.
Now, the day of the Lord—insofar as we are concerned, every day is the day of the Lord, and each day is a day wherein certain ones find or realize that the Lord is working in their lives, and the pressures of such circumstances as those that have been focalized today certainly hastens the focalizations of consciousness within the individual. Some will the more fully turn to the Lord and some will the more boldly scoff and follow in the way of their own fancy.
Charlie — The smallness of the bomb is out of proportion to the power and strength which is released. As we are gathered here in the Oneness of the Christ Body, the Power that is released—if it is directed rightly—and the strength of that Power as it flows through us is out of all proportion to the smallness of the group through which it goes forth.
Uranda — An excellent point and a fine realization, Charlie. The smallness of the atomic bomb in comparison to the greatness of its power, the effect it produces in those who come into contact with it, correctly symbolizes that which is Divinely ordained for us. We are a comparatively small group, but just as a great force can be released through one comparatively small bomb, through atomic energy, so can a small group of individuals, focalized in the Lord and functioning actually as a manifest expression of the One Christ Body on earth, provide a release of Power that is greater than anything that man can dream of.
Human beings do not change because they come face-to-face with such things [fear of destructive influences]. It only tends to bring out what is in them; and we realize that if we, having this recognition and knowing the significance, do not function correctly, so that those who are seeking the Lord and who earnestly desire to Serve Him contact Him through us, then what is there? It emphasizes again how we need at all times to be alert to every opportunity that we have to Let Love Radiate—to let that Light so shine before men that they may glorify our Father which is in heaven.
Rose — You told us recently that the higher the vibration the finer and more powerful it is. I was thinking that political defense is so widely scattered, and the only way this could be accomplished is by a high vibration that is focalized and unified instead of being scattered like political set-ups.
Uranda — That is excellent, and humanity as a whole will have to reap on the level of its own function. In other words, there are those who are Responsive to the finer, or more powerful, vibrations of Radiation that will be influenced thereby who are being assisted in their search for Spiritual Truth and an understanding of life, but that portion of the human mass that is not turning to the Lord, by reason of these things which are coming to pass, continue to function on the lower levels, and the political set-ups can not reach or help or protect them from their own activities, and the results of these activities of the finer Spiritual vibrations.
In other words, true Spiritual power is effective only on the level on which it is released. It is comparatively easy, from the standpoint of one properly attuned, to release Spiritual power in the higher levels, and those higher vibrations are tremendously powerful, but they are active only on the levels on which they are released, and in connection with those attuned to such levels. This means, then, that only as it can be worked out through the medium of human beings to release Spiritual power on those levels to which human beings are more generally responsive, or in which they are attuned, can the release of that Spiritual Power be effective in meeting the issues of the world, whether of the atomic bomb or something else. So we have to realize that while the political structures upon which human beings are inclined to place all their dependence are of little value, there is not much we can do to prevent the destruction by such methods, except to Radiate the Christ Love in a true sense on all the levels of consciousness, so that those Responsive to God may be influenced and blessed, regardless of where they are or who they may be.
Jim — There is one point in the description, particularly with reference to the cloud that formed after the burst of the bomb. The vast destruction of the bomb was on the surface of the water or on the land, but the main force and focalization of the effect of the bomb rose up into the heaven and reached higher than anything that had been known before. It mushroomed out three times in fact, and each time formed a stem on a higher level. Due to the fact that this cloud arose so rapidly and was so dense, and after that the Radiation reached out, it seems to draw to mind a similarity with the Powers of the Lord, in that they are focalized and reach out into the heaven.
Uranda — I will carry that further. We know that the next thing they anticipated, for instance, was the release of the explosive just below the surface of the water. As some scientist pointed out, the real destructiveness of the bomb could be truly demonstrated if it was placed about a mile under the surface of the water. If such a thing were done it would come pretty close to destroying all marine life. The reason I bring this into the expression is this: As atomic energy releases its primary forces upward, so also do we find that to be true with Spiritual energies, and the level upon which it is released determines to a high degree that which will be accomplished by that release of force. As with the bomb when it is released at a point considerably up in the air, the destructive force is made manifest at the surface of the water to only a small degree of that which it is capable, but when we are able to release the true Spiritual force, controlled and to the full expression of Power on the lower levels, then the very fact that its primary energies tend to appear in an upward expression would mean that we are more effective in the greater mass of humanity.
I have emphasized this point in many ways. There are those who think that if they reach a high point and simply Radiate on that level that they will be doing humanity a wonderful good. That is ridiculous, because comparatively few are reached by a Radiation on high levels. That does not mean that the one who Radiates cannot be attuned to a high point, for he must be if he truly Radiates, but he must radiate on the level where he seeks to be effective, and then the release on that level will be to tend to make it move upward.
I feel that another phase should be touched upon, and that is that human beings are very likely to be lulled into a false sense of security with respect to these developments. Those who do not want to awake, those who do not like to look at facts, and those who want to settle down in some little niche or corner and live a crystallized routine of life will tend now to be lulled into a false sense of security, and so while it emphasizes to us that regardless of what conditions appear in the world, we can and should be tranquil and continue to serve faithfully and effectively. Nevertheless, there are those tens of thousands and millions who will pass by a great opportunity to let themselves be stirred into thought and consideration and resultant function.
Beatrice — My realization is that it was a new thing, and the fact that it has to do with atoms makes the world more conscious of the fact that there are things in creation so far beyond comprehension—the new thing is a revelation of the times, something that man cannot ignore. It is the beginning of a New Age.
Uranda — It is something new and the fact of something new should, as you suggest, stir people to a Realization of the fact that we are in the beginning of a New Age and a new era, but people dislike change. They resist it with all their might and close their eyes to it. If we were to depend on human beings as such for change, humanity would settle down into a rut which would finally be covered with the sands of time and humanity would be no more. It is those things that are bigger than humanity, those things that take hold of a few human beings and stir them up, and compel them to do things that finally shake the lethargic expression of humanity into some semblance of consciousness, so that what we call progress can manifest.
Bertha — The point that impressed me was that when we are attuned to a high level of consciousness, much more is gained by releasing the Power on a lower level of consciousness. I think of that in relationship to our daily function.
Uranda — It emphasizes again the fact that unless we Let Love Radiate in our daily function, it will not be released on the level of expression where it can be of real value in the world. If we are able to gather and go up into a high mountain of consciousness, what we do there is of value, but the real value comes only when those individuals move down into the world of man and live in the everyday walks of life, letting that Spiritual Power find expression on those levels of activity.
The Master spoke of the mass of humanity that loves darkness rather than Light, and yet we know that there are untold thousands all over the world who are interested in the Light—they seek the Light and they are willing to walk in the Light. From the standpoint of those who love darkness rather than Light, the shining of the Light, to the degree of intensity made manifest at the present time, it is hardly perceptible, if at all. It is only with respect to those who are Responsive to the Light that there is any appreciable result. The individual who is serving the Lord must remember that he must be in the world but not of it.
One who is serving as a Member of the One Christ Body is not in position to judge or determine the degree of effectiveness made manifest by reason of whatever Light does actually shine through him. In other words, the Light that shines through you may not be of benefit nor blessing to those next door but it may bless and encourage and help someone on the other side of the world, on some other continent, and of some other race. These vibrations which we speak of as Light, Love and Life are not limited in their Radiation to such things as language. They are things that are perceived and felt by the Responsive Chinaman just as easily as the Responsive American. They transcend all limitations.
Another thing that the human mind is not in position to determine is the time elements involved with respect to the period from the time of the planting of the seed to the day of the harvest. If the individual says, “I thought a seed was planted, but there is no fruitage,” and he passes on and says it was of no effect, he may be wrong because the human being is in no position to judge the time of gestation from the time of planting and the appearance of fruitage. The Master’s words are true: “Judge not that ye be not judged.” We are not to be concerned about results. Individually, your responsibility is to so Love the Lord, to so Respond to Him, that your Light does shine. It is not your responsibility as to who is blessed and who is not. The individual responsibility that devolves upon the Earnest One is that he be sure that his Light is shining. The only time that those who are consciously aware of the principles and the expression of the Christ Love as revealed in the Third Sacred School are not sure is when they begin to let their attention dwell upon the outer world—looking for results.
A Member of the Christ Body is not to be concerned about results.
The Lord of the Harvest is the One Who is concerned about the results,
and He is able to take care of His responsibilities.
There is a great tendency for the human being to be over anxious about who is helped and who is not, or of outer evidence of results in some fashion. We do have outer evidence of results which should be sufficient for each one—lives that have been changed within the scope of the Service itself. The only place where you can have any idea of this is within the scope of the Service, and then only within the range of what you see. You recognize that your own course of life has been altered. You recognize the change in the lives of others. That means, then, that there must be something, some Power, that is actually working to change lives, and you have experienced it. That is all the evidence that anyone properly requires. When he sees the Power of the Lord working within the scope of the Service, he should be able to abide in absolute confidence that that Power is working in those realms where he cannot see. So each one remembers, “Judge not, that ye be not judged”—and if he moves within the results that have been made manifest, then he can serve effectively and let the results appear in the world. Does that help to clarify the point? I believe you have a great deal to contemplate and meditate upon.
