The Holy Ghost is the name given to the Holy Spirit in its application and action with respect to the individual. We all gather to allow the bringing forth through us individually of that which is a true expression of the spirit of God. This is not properly for any one person, but should be all-inclusive. It has been obvious over the recent days, as various ones have spoken, that there has been an increased experience of the baptism of the Holy Ghost. It is this baptism which enables us to come into agreement one with another and stay in agreement. It also permits us to work more effectively together in the practical affairs of living day by day. There is no other basis for oneness. To be sprinkled with the water of truth is necessary, but unless we come to the point of the true release of the spirit of God from within us individually, we do not know what it means to be with one accord in one place. This state of being with one accord in one place should not be limited to the time that we are together in the physical sense, but unless it is known when we are here it is unlikely that it will be known when we are not here.
I am sure all of you recognize that while there have been many wonderful experiences, and we anticipate some more, we are a long way from a really practical state of true coordination. That true coordination comes by reason of the individual expression of the spirit of God. That which is so released impels action. We do not expect to be coordinated just by sitting still. Such a state of supposed coordination wouldn't achieve very much. We are concerned with Divine identity, and consequently with giving expression to that which is Divine. The glory of the Lord will never shine round about through anyone who is not in his right place. We can only be in our right place when we accept our proper responsibilities, and when we are not only content to so function but are delighted to so function—we consider it the greatest possible honor to so function. Unless this attitude is present in a person he is certainly not providing the opportunity, to himself or herself, for the experience of baptism by the Holy Ghost. That person is still saying, “I'm not interested in this. All I want is some more water sprinkled on me, and it doesn't matter too much how I get it, as long as I get it.” We need to be in position where we can function with delight in any particular circumstance in which we properly find ourselves; and when we begin to have this attitude, so that we are not involved in judgments, there is the beginning point for the experience of baptism by the Holy Ghost, because something of the Divine expression can begin to come out through the person.
We have had an abundance of baptismal services from the standpoint of water, but unless it leads into the experience of the baptism by the Holy Ghost it is of little avail. We can be baptized with the truth forever and a day and achieve nothing—but like our Master, we need to come straightway up out of the water. He experienced baptism of water at the hand of John, and He came straightway up out of the water. As soon as it was done He came out of it. He didn't linger in there, splashing around. We need to come straightway up out of the water that there may be the experience of the next step, the baptism by the Holy Ghost, which is the release of the spirit of God from within each individual, that we may begin to share in a coordinated pattern. We are to share in the baptism of the Holy Ghost, that there may be the development of the actual experience of coordination. If you limit the idea of experiencing this baptism to being in the Chapel here, you are wrong.
If we serve the Lord we are all dedicated to the whole. It is not this group or that group, this individual or that individual, that carries supreme importance to us; it is the whole, and our concern is to find our places of coordination in the whole, together. Whatever it is that is working out through the whole is always of supreme importance. There is a tendency for individuals to imagine that their own little affairs are the most important things. If any of you have that viewpoint then you are a long way from the experience of the baptism of the Holy Ghost, because the spirit of God is concerned with the whole, not just with this person or that person on a segregated basis. If you are participating in the baptism of the Holy Ghost you are concerned with the whole.
One aspect of that concern with the whole will relate to your particular field of responsibility as an individual—but still, the meaning of the individual, the meaning of the group, is contained in the whole, and it is only because of the whole that any of these things have meaning. There needs to be a very clear-cut recognition of this fact, because no part is more important than the whole. It is the needs of the whole, the welfare of the whole, what is working out through the whole. What is required in the moment with respect to the whole, that is the supreme thing, and we must, as individuals, be ready and willing to drop everything if something is required which relates to the whole. It is the coordinated function of the whole that is important, and there can be no coordinated function of the whole without the right attitude toward the whole, so that the whole of which we as individuals are a part may be seen as carrying the supreme importance. None have any meaning if it weren't for the whole. We need to have this vividly in consciousness as we yield to the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
The spirit of God in action through the individual will always maintain a right attitude toward the whole. Under the dominion of the spirit of God we find something moving in us which relates to the whole, and which enables us to take the initiative on a balanced basis, according to our particular fields of responsibility. When we let it work we find that these patterns are coordinated. We already know that nothing just happens. We have already seen many times that we are not waiting for the Lord. He is waiting to find expression through us in the baptism of the Holy Ghost, that something may be brought forth which is true to the design—something which must appear through each individual. We use external circumstances, but the external circumstances cannot prevent the baptism of the Holy Ghost. It is our own attitudes and choices that prevent it.
We are concerned with the baptism of the Holy Ghost, on the basis of being with one accord in one place. The outpouring of the spirit is the responsibility of each one. It is not as though we were waiting for some collective experience without individually doing anything about it. It doesn't come on that basis. It comes because each individual is doing something about it according to his or her position of responsibility. That position of responsibility changes from moment to moment. We have a particular one now, here. As we move forward in the way, the pattern changes and there are different fields of responsibility for each one. No matter what the field of responsibility is, there is the requirement of being with one accord in one place. Let us not judge between one external place and another. The opportunity is being extended to participate in the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Each one who is present has that responsibility of permitting the spirit of God to be in action, not simply of sitting with mouth hanging open waiting for the spirit of God to be in action through somebody else. Whatever is to occur will occur by reason of the extent of the baptism of the Holy Ghost which each one experiences. So we have a group accepting responsibility.
Everyone here has responsibility. We have a particular cycle working out where something much more effective and much more specific may be achieved, and it requires everyone to be with one accord in one place. It doesn't matter where a person is, or what he or she is doing, the same responsibility is present to participate in the baptism of the Holy Ghost, which means that the spirit of God is in action through the individual. There will be a sense of delight in doing whatever is to be done. And it is in this that there is oneness, coordination, between us, and to that extent we come with one accord into one place and everyone experiences the intensification of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. And it isn't limited. Anyone, anywhere, who is in position, doing what should be done in the expression of the spirit of God, shares it. There's something to be done, so we do it, and we are delighted to do it. It's wonderful to do it. We can be with one accord in one place with ourselves if we are delighted to do it, and we have a base from which to move into the experience of being with one accord in one place with others, and this is that which must be. Let us actually take responsibility in this matter, so that whatever the Lord would give may be given. I don't think that if anything takes form in the way of blessing through the gathering here that it could be contained by those who are present in person. If it is the blessing of the Lord it can't be contained.
Sometimes, in order to permit the generation of what is needful to allow the increase of blessing to be known, it requires that we establish a certain pattern, a certain form, through which this may transpire. I would that everybody would be delighted that it is just the way it is—that everybody might share that delight in whatever field they are functioning, so that we can be with one accord in one place. And because of this, as we let it be so, there is an open door then to the Lord. He can do what He will then. He doesn't have to keep stumbling over inert bodies everywhere. He can come right on into His world and find a welcome there, because there is nobody standing around sucking their teeth. If the Lord comes through His body on earth, is there any part of His body that won't know it? Of course not. We may all know it when we all do what we should be doing. We have a peculiar opportunity—and this is not just for us here gathered, but for the ministry of the Lord as a whole. We are concerned with the whole. We are concerned to represent the whole to the Lord, and very particularly to represent the Lord to the whole. Let's do a good job of it because we will not accept any other control in our lives than that which comes from God, that which is true to His spirit. As we all do this, surely this is bringing all the tithes into the storehouse, so that as the windows of heaven we may be opened for the blessing of the Lord to pour forth into all the earth. This is a challenge to us, a wonderful challenge. Surely we have what it takes to accept it.

The Holy Mountain Of Love Response

In these last few days of this particular Session cycle, which brings us to a new beginning, we are carrying into levels of consciousness and function that are new to you—to a very high degree at least. It is not expected with respect to the details involved that you will immediately grasp and understand it, but you have been well grounded with respect to the fundamentals, and, always, if you function according to the One Law, and are content to let the vibrations work out without letting your outer mind become self-active and inject questionings and doubt or fears, you will find that the details of the Pattern will come clear. Remember always that it does not make any difference what the circumstance, if there is anything obscure, do not let the mind fasten upon that and begin to go in circles. You do not need to try to understand every point. Remember to function according to the fundamentals which are clear to you, and we will move forward effectively.
The closing of this cycle will bring the opening of another—the beginning of a cycle of Service unprecedented in the whole history of man. It does have precedent with respect to principles, but that is all. The ever-changing picture with respect to the details of application make it impossible for the human mind to grasp or understand all the phases and factors in advance, and that is fundamentally true with the individual in his daily life. Your life unfolds moment by moment, and you have been learning to live in that unfolding moment, and find your life expression in that moment, without being unduly concerned about that which is to be. When we function correctly in this moment, we will be ready for the next, and we will be in position to meet the circumstances that arise as we remain true to the principles we know in each unfolding moment of Eternity.
It is the unfolding nature of life, moment by moment, that makes it so vitally interesting. Why should human beings want so much to know what is ahead of them, what is coming? They may be very thankful that they cannot know more fully than they do. It is wise to enjoy each unfolding moment as it comes, each day with its new opportunities and new expressions of Reality, and with each morning to realize that: “This is the day that the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” In such a spirit and attitude, we can let the Spirit direct, and we have that assurance in God, by reason of Love for Him, that lets His perfect Love cast out all fear.
More and more in these days, our work comes primarily in the field of radiation. I have, over a wide range, carefully considered the various facts of Truth with you. We have considered the various expressions or portrayals of Truth, and now as we have reached to higher levels of consciousness, you will find expansion coming naturally and easily when you just let go in the Current of the Word, not trying to understand, not trying to analyze or classify, but just letting it flow freely in the Current of Divine Love, and if our work is to mean anything to the world, it must become, dominantly, a work of radiation.
Tonight, I should like to read you the words by which a picture is painted, a portrayal vivid and dramatic, a revelation of Truth in the Pattern of Life, contrasting the real with the unreal, and so as you relax into the Current of this portrayal through the Word, you will find blendings of the Spirit of Love and the Spirit of Truth, and as you realize the outworkings as they are portrayed here, and see how they have been made manifest in your own lives, you let that Current of Realization flow out into the world, because that which was, is now, and the fulfillment which was within the scope of this picture must likewise now appear on a grander scale. This picture contains the Pattern of Fulfillment as it must appear in all the world. I mentioned that this portrayal is vivid and dramatic. It is, but it cannot be as vivid and dramatic as this actual outworking in which you are privileged to have a share—one of those who takes part in the actual outworking of this on a world-wide scope. In such a drama, excellence of function is essential.

“And it came to pass, when the human mind recognized the Servant of the Lord, that the human mind said unto him. Art thou he that troubleth the Chosen Ones? And the Servant of the Lord answered, I have not troubled the Chosen Ones, but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the Lord, and thou hast followed the prince of this world.
“Now therefore send, and gather to me all the Chosen Ones unto the Mount of Decision, and the prophets of the prince of this world four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the self-active habitations of men four hundred, which eat at the queen's table. So the human mind sent unto all the Chosen Ones, and gathered the prophets together unto the Mount of Decision.
“And the Servant of the Lord came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if the prince of this world, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
“Then said the Servant of the Lord unto the people, I, even I only, remain a Prophet of the Lord; but the prince of this world has prophets numbering four hundred and fifty men. Let them therefore give us two bullocks, as the symbol of the self-active, human mind; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.
“And the Servant of the Lord said unto the priests of the prince of this world. Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under. And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of the prince of this world from morning even until noon, saying, O prince of darkness, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made.
“And it came to pass at noon, that the Servant of the Lord mocked them, and said. Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth and must be awaked. And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them. And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.
“And the Servant of the Lord said unto all the people. Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down. And the Servant of the Lord took twelve stones, according to the number of the sons of the responding ones, unto whom the Word of the Lord came, saying, the Chosen Ones shall be thy name: And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord; and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed. And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said: Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood. And he said: Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said: Do it the third time. And they did it the third time. And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water.
“And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that the Servant of the Lord came near, and said, Lord God of the Chosen Ones, let it be known this day that Thou Art God, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word. Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the Lord God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again. Then the fire of the Lord fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said. The Lord, he is the God; the Lord, he is the God.” (l Kings 18:17-39)
You have been sharing in the building of the Altar on the Mount of Decision. You have been letting the Sword of Truth cut the bullock of your self-active, human mind into many pieces, and you have been letting those pieces be laid, one by one, upon the Altar. In time past you have seen and, perchance, at times shared, in the activities of those who undertook to call upon the name of the prince of darkness. You have seen how the priests of his following leap upon the altar, cut themselves and go through all manner of contortions in order to make their activities appear great, and human life is not sacred unto them, and you have found, and you know, that there is no voice, nor any to answer the call of the lonely, or the call of the weary one, or the cry for help from the broken one who puts his trust in the prince of this world. There is no ceasing from struggle and there is no time of rest for those who are the disciples of darkness.
You have been drawn here to the Mount of Decision to share in proving to the world that the prince of darkness is not only not the only god, but more—that he is not a god. And so you have let your bullock be cut in pieces by the Sword of Truth. Step by step, piece by piece, you have relinquished that which has become the burnt offering. The Altar has been builded of living stones, and the wood has been put in order, and the bullock, cut in pieces, has been laid upon the wood. Carefully we have been pouring the four barrels of water over the sacrifice, over the wood and over the Altar. We have done it once; we have done it twice; we have done it a third time—once for each plane of your being. Four barrels of water—the Truth with respect to the Four Forces which provide the Firm Foundation for the expression of Truth according to the Perfect Pattern in the physical plane, in the mental plane and in the spiritual plane—a barrel of water for each plane and for each Force in each plane. Carefully the work has been done; the saturation with the Water of Truth is complete, and the trench round about is filled with the water. The rest remains between the Altar and the Living God.
As I have come unto you, a Priest after the Order of Melchizedek, revealing anew for you the Way, the Truth and the Life, you have found that all the people who respond are being drawn, and that the Chosen Ones are coming near unto the Lord. You are finding out what it is to draw near unto the Lord. I have told you of the test by Fire, and you know that it is the Fire of His Love. You know that in the Fire there is nothing to fear for those who love Him, that only that which is contrary to the perfection of the Divine Pattern can be burned away in the Fire.

These two pictures are one and the same thing. The Holy City, the New Spiritual Consciousness in which you are learning to dwell, is coming down from God out of Heaven. As you have come unto a great and high mountain, it has ceased to be for you the Mount of Decision, and has become for you the Holy Mountain of Love Response to the Lord of Love.
O Lord of Love, Thou glorious, wondrous One, we wait upon Thee, willing to let Thy Will be done on earth as Thy Will is done in Heaven; for Thine is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory. “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” In the Flaming Fire there is Love, and the dark corners are searched out and purified; for there is no house great enough to contain both Him and the prince of darkness.
O LORD of Lords and KING of Kings, as these Blessed Ones and all who respond with them are being prepared to enter fully into the Flame wherein the causes of limitation are burned away, I rejoice to know that their response is unto Thee, that they may abide ever in Thy Peace and be forever a channel of Thy Joy into the world.
O LORD, I thank Thee for the wonder of Thy Love and for the blessed privilege we have of drawing near unto Thee, that we may with one accord let that purity of heart be established which lets that Spirit come unto us and abide in us, now and forevermore, IN the Christ. Aum-en.
When your senses blend into one thing and you are focalized in the consciousness of Love Response to the Lord, you cease being conscious of yourself as an individual. How many of you shared that experience? Most of you. Remember that I said it was a losing of consciousness of oneself as an individual. It is the coming to a focalization in a suspended point of awareness in consciousness where consciousness of body or hands or feet or physical or mental or spiritual or anything like that tends to disappear. I think you did a remarkable job of letting your minds be stilled tonight.
Several of you mentioned having a feeling of suspension, of being lifted up. That was true of most of you. That is the longest period of silence where you have been able to function as a Unit on a focalized vibration, and I think you did remarkably well. As we reach a point where we can relax into it and let ourselves be drawn into that type of focalization of consciousness where there is the stillness of Heaven, and your consciousness is then suspended in Love Response to the LORD, the expression of simple Truth through that Current or through that focalization of consciousness into the world will produce a means by which we can share in powerful radiation, and the significance of those simple Truths in that sphere of focalization of consciousness and attunement with the Divine, of consciousness of oneness in the Christ Love and the Current of His Power, will permit increasing steps in Illumination.
You are not attempting to carry anything but a recognition of fundamental principles with which you harmonize in such a period of Silent Radiation as this. Of course, there will be various methods of utilizing it, but there will be expressions of simple Truth that will have peculiar meaning to you individually and collectively and in radiation to the world, and you will find, drawing into this focalization of consciousness, an awareness of Reality on a new level of perception. That is about as near as I can describe it at the moment, because we are coming into this realm, and you know from what you have experienced tonight that words do not convey very much of it. Words are inadequate. What I say under such conditions will tend primarily to be keys that will help your mind make an attunement in the Current, and permit spiritual communion or conveying of Spiritual Truth on a level transcending the use of words, and the degree to which you have a definite consciousness of it in the shape of words is beside the point, and there will develop a consciousness on that level of spiritual communion where words are not necessary in a new level of consciousness.
I feel that you did splendidly tonight, and I praise God for you and with you, and it is really an opening or a beginning of that co-ordination in consciousness which allows an ever-increasing fullness of the Fire of His Love to be made manifest through you in an increasingly powerful Current, and I praise the Lord for you and with you. Perhaps one of the best ways that you could think of it at the moment is as an Open Window of Heaven. The Window is not trying of itself to see what is in Heaven. It is an Open Window of Heaven.
If there comes a sense of being separate from peace by reason of any of your activities, it would be well, in the first place, not to let it be a cause of disturbance. In the second place which is, properly, primary, pause for a few moments in Love Response to the Lord, and it should be easy for you to relax into that sense of peace; and it will be, more and more as we move forward, that all of your activities will be carried on within the scope of this deeper sense of utter peace, and as you become so polarized that you can function from within that peace, you will find that what you say and do tends to carry peace into the world. Unless you can function from within that peace, you cannot give peace to the world.
