The Heaven Of This Earth Is A City In The Star

The  Heaven  Of  This  Earth  Is  A  City  In  The  Star

The Garden Called To Remembrance

Martin Exeter   July 31, 1983 p.m.

While words may be spoken by one member of the body, if they are true words they are spoken by the whole body.

Recently I received a letter from someone, part of which I would like to share with you because it says some things in a very articulate way which we and others may helpfully and radiantly hear: “Someone said to me the other day something about not being a core person, and that they felt their role was more on the periphery, with outreach type of activity. I’ve come across this kind of thinking before, including in myself, and on thinking about it, I’ve decided that it’s not quite accurate. For a start, one doesn’t decide where one is going to function, one just ends up being there. Also, the outer role does not necessarily reflect the inner position, as it were. And, as has been said many times, effectiveness in what has been called outreach is dependent upon effectiveness in core function. It seems to me that regardless of my geographical position I determine my distance from the core of this ministry by the number of pet illusions I choose to maintain. These may be illusions about myself, my own importance, fulfilment, my own destiny, or they may be illusions about others, about the design, about the core.”

The body of the Son of God is the Core. Those who compose that body are all members of that Core. There are many very peculiar ideas developed by different people which ignore the available truth. There is a lot about which there is much chatter which would not be necessary at all if those concerned would pay attention to the truth. We have a base for understanding. There is no necessity ever to go off in tangential speculation. “Well I wonder about this,” a person may say. Why wonder? Don’t you know? You do, if you stop to think about it, if you acknowledge the truth that is available to you. You know about anything. There is still a good deal of speculation, even among those who should know better; those who know the truth never need to speculate. That is wondering after the beast, isn’t it? something that is quite unnecessary.

There are undoubtedly many things that are still beyond our immediate awareness. One will not come to know what those many things might be by speculation. We always start from the known and allow the unknown to be received because we are moving with the known. There is plenty that we know. If we function on the basis of what we know, what has heretofore been unknown to us will begin to emerge into our experience. We don’t have to go scrambling around to try to find it; all we will do in such case is develop some further speculative concepts. We know ample truth to handle what is brought to us moment by moment, without speculation. When we do that, then those things which are yet unknown to us will emerge into our consciousness and experience.

We move from the known to the unknown. What is unknown to human minds and hearts, human minds and hearts cannot get hold of for their own satisfaction. What has heretofore been unknown will emerge into human minds and hearts, our own particularly, if we are attuned with the spirit of truth, our own truth, coming down from God out of heaven. It is said of the Spirit of Truth that it calls things to remembrance. I suppose in doing that, one might say, “Well I had forgotten something, but now it’s called to remembrance.” Being forgotten, it was unknown; being called to remembrance, it becomes known. There are those things of which I speak which you no doubt find do call to remembrance what was previously unknown to you, but becoming known to you, you might be inclined to say, “Oh yes, I really remember that.” It wasn’t as though it was something totally extraneous brought into your consciousness. The angel is present with all of us, ready to acquaint us in the moment with what we need to know. What we need to know in each moment is fresh, new; it is not a rehash of the past, and yet it is not unrelated to what we knew before. We are concerned to let this expansion take place.

Perhaps I could talk a little about something which is not speculation but relates to what the Spirit of Truth may call to remembrance. If the mental apparatus tries to grasp what the Spirit of Truth is calling to remembrance in order to possess it for itself it will fail and it will be confused. But we may be reminded of some things, mentally and in the feeling realm, which are at hand. It seems to me that the Spirit of Truth had a job to do in that regard: “He will show you things to come.” That is not intended to indicate that what is going to happen tomorrow will be told to you today. He will show you things which rightly should be coming into your consciousness, things which have heretofore been unknown but which are in the process of being called to your remembrance. You have had this experience all down along the way.

This morning I was speaking about the flaming sword and we saw certain symbolic representations of that flaming sword in a very immediate sense—nuclear armaments, for one thing. [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/2019/10/enter-garden-don-hynes-i-come-to_27.html] I also mentioned the disk of the sun, which obscures whatever may be present in the sun. Of course the scientific people have ways of probing into the innards of the sun, they think, and coming up with a certain amount of speculation as to the nature of the internal state of the sun, what is going on there. But it is all speculation, really, because there is something which prevents anyone from looking into the sun. There is a very excellent symbol of the flaming sword, and I don’t think it’s really all that much of a symbol; it’s a factual reality. We can see this, anyway, as representing the flaming sword.

Some of you may know that Chris Foster has been writing a book. The characters of his book originate in the sun and then they incarnate in different human forms on earth; they don’t need flying saucers to get to the earth. There is obviously a different level of state for anyone who might live in the sun, and so that different level of state provides the vehicle by which incarnation on earth might occur. Chris’s book illustrates something in a rather imaginative way—a little bit of speculation in there perhaps—with respect to the fact that there is something hidden insofar as the sun is concerned, hidden from human view anyway. I don’t advise anyone to try to penetrate with human vision behind the disk of the sun; it can’t be done and the effects can be disastrous. The disk of the sun may be seen as the flaming sword which prevents human beings from getting back into the Garden; that is one aspect of it. Another aspect of it is that this flaming sword makes possible conditions for human beings where they may survive. Obviously if the total light and heat of the sun were extinguished insofar as the earth is concerned, human beings wouldn’t last very long. But clearly enough whatever it is that radiates from the sun is stepped down somehow, so that it becomes bearable on earth and in fact is part of the necessity for life on earth.

What we know of the earth and of the sun, of the other planets of the solar system itself, is seen, humanly speaking, from the level where human beings exist. We know that that level is below the veil, so what is observable from this level of observation is very restricted, we might say; it excludes everything that is above a certain vibratory level. When the solar system is examined, the other planets are examined, those who do the examining are inclined to say, “None of the other planets are inhabited.” Really, how do they know? It looks that way from the level of observation but the level of observation is rather low, rather coarse, and so what is seen is not very inviting. There used to be idle speculation about Mars, and books were written about the people who lived on Mars. But then unfortunately a probe went to Mars and it didn’t see anybody there! So that eliminated quite a bit of fiction, but it really didn’t tell anyone anything much because of the level from which the observation was being made. Now we may observe on the surface of the earth that human beings are very busy creating deserts. So this is the sort of level of observation, isn’t it? They see deserts everyplace else. Only a very limited and coarse level of observation is available to the human view. To assume that that is all there is, is in fact nonsense. It is all that human beings in their present state are capable of discerning.

If the flaming sword prevents human beings from experiencing the Garden State, they are not capable of observing anything from the perspective of the Garden State. As we have noted before, simply because human beings pushed themselves out of the Garden State did not mean that the Garden State was dissolved; it is still there just as surely as it ever was. Human beings do not know it because there has been this veil in between, the flaming sword which has prevented them from getting back into the Garden with all the stuff that they have been generating in the meantime. That is very fortunate of course. But at the same time we can see the blessing that has been present by reason of the fact that even though human beings pushed themselves out of the Garden of life they still exist on earth. So for man’s sake this rather restricted state of experience on earth has been available. But what the whole is has been unknown, because the Garden State now is totally lost to human consciousness. It is just beginning to dawn on us again, perhaps, that it is really present and that it is possible to be restored to the Garden State, under certain conditions of course.

As I say, there has been this veil between. The Garden State is present. What human beings see of what they call the solar system is a sun, whatever that may be—it’s supposed to be in the middle—and a number of planets circulating around. They would be inclined, I’m sure, to say, “Well it is a whole system, but the parts are rather separate.” There are of course the various influences that the planets have on each other. Some of these influences are capable of being noted and understood in that way. In fact Pluto was found, wasn’t it, because there was an aberration in some of the other orbits of the planets indicating that there must be a planet someplace which hadn’t been known at the time. I believe there is supposed to be another one floating around somewhere, which must be there because of the perturbations it causes in the orbits and movements of some of the planets. Be that as it may, these planetary entities are looked upon as being more or less on their own, perhaps captured by the sun in some way—they can’t get away from the solar system apparently—and this is the way that this is looked at. Obviously it is not the way it is, because the way it is would include what we have spoken of as the Garden, the heavenly aspect, which is totally excluded from human awareness because of the flaming sword. What is the other side of the flaming sword? Nobody can tell. No amount of probing into the sun or into the further reaches of the universe really tells anyone what the truth is, because everything must be viewed simply from the level of observation where man is. That’s very low. There is a whole which includes vastly more of which human beings are totally ignorant, ignorant because of the flaming sword.

As I say, the disk of the sun can represent a veil to us obscuring whatever it is that is in the sun. The only observation that human beings can make of the sun is at the level where they make observations. So there could be, what? great cities and maybe parks and all this. All that human beings can think about is what they see here around on the earth, as though that was all that was possible. It isn’t of course. But this disk which obscures the sun also obscures the rest of the Garden, the Garden which is right next to the earth, for instance. Well is that Garden just a special earth-garden, all on its own? No, it is part of the Whole Garden, the whole heavenly state related to what we think of now as this solar system. But I would suggest that it isn’t a solar system. I don’t really have a name to give it—maybe you could invent one—but we could call it something which would convey an idea at least, as long as we do not define it in usual human terms, or scientific terms.

What we call the solar system is a Star: it is just one thing. Human beings do not know that it is just one thing, except in solar system terms, because they do not know the fact of the Garden; they do not know the fact of the heaven being present. But right next to what is thought of as being the earth, whether of this planet or any other planet, is the heaven. And it is in the heaven where life originates, isn’t it? Human beings are always looking for the origins of life on earth. They never find it. They go back and back until they come up with an amoeba, but then what about beyond the amoeba again? Well they have this cosmic soup of some kind upon which the lightning plays, and all this fairy tale, which is something scientifically approved, based in the idea that one can find life or the origins of life by dissecting the earth, whether the earth of this planet or the earth of some other planet or the earth of the galaxy or of the universe.

They are always saying, “Well we’ll discover more and more about the origins of things the further we can get out”—away from the place where the truth is, because the truth is not out there somewhere, not even in the immediate environment. It is present in the Garden, in the heaven, the heaven which presently is unknown because the flaming sword is in between. But we have a sensing of the fact, through our own experience, of the closeness of the heaven. We have sensed it, we have touched it, we have known something of it in our own expression. That is the only way we know it, by the way. The thinning of the veil is not the dissipation of the pollution around the earth; it is the thinning of the veil inside oneself, in one’s own experience, where the heaven has been absent, the Garden has been unknown. Nobody will ever find it round about somewhere: heaven is in some South Sea island perhaps. No, it’s not there. It is present with one, as long as life remains, and it is known when it is given expression. It can’t be given expression, as we have noted, if we indulge ourselves in unheavenly expression, which human beings do; that is, in judgment, condemnation, blame, all these things. That is unheavenly expression. Therefore if one is hooked, or addicted, to unheavenly expression, what sort of a world will one have? What sort of an experience will one have? Well one knows what one expresses; one will have an unheavenly experience. Sometimes that might be called a hellish experience.

The Garden is so close that we cannot in fact get out of it, and yet we don’t know it is there. We don’t know it is there because there is this veil, or I suppose it might be called a transformer, in between, which steps down the Garden Radiation to something that human beings can stand in their murky state. And it is because of this that they have continued to exist and that the potential for a return to the true state has been present. It is present because life is still in the carcass of mankind. I suppose if one were to use one’s imagination a little one might recognize that the heaven of this earth is a City in the Star. It was called the Holy City, wasn’t it, coming down from God out of heaven to take form. We may have a view of something rather vast, at least from the standpoint of human proportions: a mighty star which is composed of heaven and earth. It is all one thing. In the United States there are many cities but it is still one nation. In this star there are many cities but it is still One Star, something whole. Of course that is not the end of the wholeness either, as far as that is concerned, but it is about as far as we need to go this evening, I think.

Nowadays there is much talk about a planetary perspective. What’s that? Scarcely discernible, isn’t it? No, we need to at least sense that there is a totally new perspective, which comes within the range of awareness to the extent that we have allowed the dissolution of the veil in our own experience of life. It is an individual matter, but when individuals do take responsibility for letting it happen it is suddenly found that it is a collective matter. There is a body; there is a body that begins to put in an appearance. It was already there but it was hidden behind this veil; and now it comes forth, as the truth has come forth into expression consistently in one’s own individual living, moment by moment.

And again we realize that that is based not so much in not blaming, in not criticizing, in not doing all these things which human beings do, but rather in doing what an angel in heaven does, and that is to convey the spirit of the living God into expression on earth. As long as one is still under the seeming necessity of fussing about not judging, one will have very little to give expression to of what one should be allowing to come forth. In the attitude of merely not judging, the individual is constantly being assailed by external events which petition judgment; they ask to be judged. Haven’t you found that? There are all kinds of things in your environment which present themselves before you and say, “Now you judge me! You tell me whether I am good or bad.” And human beings plunge right in and start doing it. So we need to see that that is not heavenly expression, just the reverse: to judge. But we also need to be aware that there is heavenly expression, and when we are totally occupied with that, even the idea of judging doesn’t put in an appearance.

We dwell as angels in a Garden of vast proportions. Our particular part of the Garden does relate to what we think of now as this planet Earth. But the planet Earth which we see now we see from this very lowly positioning; we don’t really see what it is. But rising up to the level of heavenly perspective, we see a place of habitation for the body of the Son of God, a place of habitation for the living God. And as a place of habitation for the living God, what do you think that might do to the realm of observation? Well it would be observed from a totally different level of perspective. I would suggest that there is a lot around that we have never seen; it is all waiting to reveal itself. Human beings try to function with little bits and pieces. It is like a child playing with blocks, when there is a vast world awaiting revelation. Let us remember what our real proportions are as angels, so that we do not allow the restricted human view that is now current to convince us that we are petty people easily pushed around by everything that happens in the environment. That is not so, and we are beginning to discover that.

So we share the opportunity of a larger perspective. Come up hither, that we may see from a level of understanding that has always been available and that is now beginning to come forth increasingly as there are those who are concerned to express the truth for themselves, to be the truth in expression, not depending upon anyone else to do it.

The truth is easily expressed in words and in living. The yoke is easy and the burden is always light. That is why we are rightly called Emissaries of Divine Light. The light shines, the heaven is known, the waters are gathered together unto one place and the dry land appears; the form appears, clothing what is present in the heaven. As the barrier of the veil is dissipated the heaven comes forth and takes form. It takes form, of course, as there are those who are willing to let it happen as individuals. The individuals discover that the form that is appearing is not primarily an individual one. It is the body of the Son of God.

We share the privilege of composing that body to the extent that, as individuals, we express the truth. And the body continues. Forms, individual forms, may come and go. Some have been going recently, but a lot more have been coming, in various ways; and the body continues. And the job gets done by that body, or rather, as I indicated before, by the spirit which finds expression by reason of that body. Praise the Lord that it is so. We certainly are, I’m sure, cognizant of the privilege that we have to be alive now.

Bearers of the Sun

They say I come from the earth

From the dust

From the slime

Of a grey, primeval ocean,

A poor, pitiful creature struggling up through

Eons of time

To catch one small glimpse of light

Before I die.

It seems there is no question at all

That I am going to die.

Death and taxes, they say, are the two sure things.

We live on Death Row

They say

Sentenced the moment we are born,

By a God of Love,

Some even say!

But I do not believe what they say

For today I looked at the sun

And I felt at one with the sun

And as the warmth of the sun warmed me

And the light of the sun lighted me

I thought a most heretical thought

That if a part of me is of the earth

Earthy

A part of me is also of the sun

And it is the largest part

So that I could say, and speak truly,

I come from the sun.

I carry the light that shines in the sun

I bear the fire that burns in the sun …

I just dwell in the earth

For the moment.

I am of the sun

And I see the earth with the vision of the sun

From above.

These human boundaries mean nothing to me

This conflict of East and West means nothing to me

I see people of integrity everywhere

And I comfort them all with my light

And warm them all with my love

That they too may be reminded that they are of the sun

As I have been reminded.

I am of the sun

And I see my own body with the vision

Of the sun

From above.

I see my own body as a planet

A tiny but beautiful planet

Even though time and struggle

Have left their mark upon it.

The government is not responsible for my body,

The doctors, priests, counsellors,

Philosophers, experts

Of every possible kind,

None of them is responsible,

I am responsible

And I say to this little sphere of flesh

With its inbuilt mind and heart

Be still

Fear not

I am here.

We are not what we have thought ourselves to be

We are a Company of Creators

With fire in our nostrils

And in that fire all things are transformed

And the true destiny of men and women

And of this world

Is made known.

Israel—The Action Of God

Israel — The  Action  Of  God

Martin Cecil  January 2, 1977

We are assembled here in the Chapel this morning as sons and daughters of God, to do whatever is right and fitting in this time that we have together. It is not merely a matter of accepting some sort of passive responsibility: there are things to be done.

We have, I am sure, reached a point where we are not so governed by our reactions to circumstances as may have been the case previously. It is necessary that we should come clear of the control of our reaction to appearances; but that is not all, certainly, that is required of us. When we are no longer being governed by appearances round about we are then in position to express what is necessary as sons and daughters of God. There is much that is necessary in this regard; positive action, we could say. We are present here this morning to allow the right expression of positive action in unified radiation. This principle is set forth in very clear terms in the first fourteen verses of the 37th chapter of Ezekiel in the Old Testament. Let me read this passage to you.

The hand of the Lord was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,

And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.

And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God, thou knowest.

Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.

Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:

And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.

And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.

Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord God; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.

So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.

Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.

Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.

And ye shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,

And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the Lord have spoken it, and performed it, saith the Lord.

Ezekiel was commanded to prophesy. Prophecy is usually looked upon in the present human state of consciousness as predicting the future, foretelling future events. We need to see that prophecy is speaking the Word of the Lord. When the Word of the Lord is spoken, certainly that determines future events, so in this sense it is foretelling future events; but the prophecy is the action, the expression, of the truth in living, twenty-four hours a day. When there is a consistency in this regard the Word of the Lord is spoken consistently, and the effects of that cause appear; the Word of the Lord is sent forth to accomplish something and it does not return unto Him void.

Our responsibility, then, may be seen as corresponding with that of Ezekiel in this passage. The Word of the Lord must be spoken on earth, spoken in the valley. Elsewhere this valley was called the valley of decision. It is the valley of dry bones. Here is an interesting analogy of the present state of human beings: isolated dry bones. Looking at those isolated bones, could you really tell what the nature of the skeleton would be when they were fitted together? or what the person would look like when the skeleton was clothed in flesh? or how the person would act, what sort of character he would display, when the breath of life was in him? The bones have to come together. The sinews and the flesh must come up upon the reconstructed skeleton and the skin must clothe the flesh. But even so, there is yet the need for the breath of life. All these steps from the original point of just one dry bone, the individual—could anyone prognosticate, then, what the true state of man is? There are those who try to prognosticate in the past, looking backward, as to what some certain form was on the basis of the finding of a little piece of bone, but this is only possible (and certainly not very accurate) because there is already an awareness of what human beings look like now, or what other animals look like. If there were no consciousness of any of these things and some disembodied person found a bone, without any awareness of any forms, could he possibly reconstruct the form from which that bone came? Of course not! It's just as ridiculous to look at human beings now and try to imagine what the true state of man is. It's just as far away from being experienced as the single bone is from the completed living person. So it would be foolishness to try to imagine the true state of man. It is unimaginable. Our concern is that it should be experienced. Obviously if it is experienced, then it is known.

To be experienced there is the necessity for someone to prophesy, someone to speak the Word of the Lord on earth; not necessarily conversationally, although that can be included, but in the expression, the total expression, of living. Here is true prophecy, because when the Word of the Lord is thus spoken future events are foretold; they're going to happen. We do not need to try to figure out what it is exactly that is going to happen, but we know that the result of the speaking of the Word of the Lord produces the happening; and the happening that happens will be the happening that should happen, so we can leave it at that. Why would there be any necessity to try to figure it out, or try to explain to human beings the nature of future events? What would be the point? Who knows what they would be anyway? Speak the Word of the Lord and let the future take care of itself. It will, on the basis of this creative power.

When human beings consider their problems they try to figure out how to solve them. The practical expression of life from this standpoint is to find viable solutions to the problems that present themselves in human affairs, whether individually or in the international sense or anywhere in between. This is one reason why what we have to offer as sons and daughters of God is not considered to be of any great moment—fortunately so, because we're left alone. “There are some rather odd people”—peculiar people, we would say—"who are doing something, but it's not very practical.” Why? Because it doesn't appear to be solving the problem of inflation, for instance, or reducing unemployment, or unifying Canada, or settling the situation in southern Africa or in the Middle East or in Northern Ireland, or anywhere else on earth for that matter. These are the practical problems in the view of the present state of human consciousness, but the fact of the matter is that the sons and the daughters of God are not in the least interested in solving these problems. What in effect is being required by human beings of themselves is to settle all these things so that all concerned can continue in their self-centered state comfortably. We're not interested in the self-centered state, so certainly we are not interested in making human beings comfortable in their self-centered state. The questions that human beings ask with a view to solving their problems are the wrong questions, and certainly we are not here to provide an answer to those questions. Wrong questions can only receive a wrong answer, and they do, as witness the state of affairs in the world. And so the great intellects of the world try to solve these knotty problems.

By the way, the problems which we see on the surface, the popular problems that appear in the media, bear very little resemblance to what is actually going on in the world. If you are not anymore subject to human reactions to appearances then I am sure you will not be stirred up emotionally by those things which are presented to us through the media. This is one way by which human beings are kept distracted. They don't really see what's going on; they only think they see things that stir their emotions, and so they take sides this way and that. “Divide and conquer,” they say. But back of everything there is what might be referred to, I suppose, as power politics, including far greater scope than is usually recognized. In that area there is a completely amoral approach: morality and ethics don't enter into the picture at all, or scarcely at all. Morality and ethics, as human beings understand such things, are left to the masses, to stir their emotions, so that they look at various events and judge them to be unethical or immoral and feel justified in a self-righteous reaction. The emotions are stirred on this basis and human eyes are fastened upon something which has very little meaning actually, but it keeps everyone looking in a different direction from what is being undertaken from the standpoint of what I referred to as power politics.

Obviously there is a completely confusing condition here, and as long as human beings can be kept confused in this way they will not be in position to recognize what is actually taking place. But it's interesting to note that those who are involved in this pattern of power politics are also completely oblivious to something that is taking place back of that again. What is taking place back of that relates to this matter of speaking the Word of the Lord. If there is no one present, no prophet present on earth, to speak the Word of the Lord, then what is going on back of all human affairs leads to the obliteration of the human race. That's one way of clearing up the mess and solving the problems. Of course from the human standpoint it doesn't look as though any problem was solved, just simply totally eliminated because human beings were totally eliminated. In that elimination none of the humanly devised problems were solved in actual fact, because they didn't need to be solved. They just need to evaporate, dissolve, pass away. As long as human beings have their eyes fixed on their problems they maintain them in existence. They maintain them in existence by trying to find solutions, and of course the more solutions they think they find the more problems they have; so there is certainly no practical answer in that direction. The wrong question is being asked.

The very moment that a person finds the right question the answer is obvious. It only seems that there are no answers to questions, or it's very difficult to find them, when it is the wrong question being asked. If the right question can be formulated in human consciousness, immediately the answer is there; therefore it is clear enough that if the answer isn't there the wrong question is being asked. It's wrong in the sense of being meaningless, because there is no means of preserving the self-centered human state. This is where all the human effort is placed, in the endeavor to sustain the self-centered human state, and in that there are all kinds of problems; therefore it is assumed that the thing to do is to try to find the answer to them. But the self-centered human state cannot be sustained indefinitely; it will collapse and eventually pass away.

The bones have only remained in the valley with the expectation that at some point they could be called together, bone to his bone, and the creative cycle could be allowed to unfold according to the Word of the Lord, to permit what we have referred to as the restoration of man. For the restoration of man there must be some people around. If there are no people around, certainly man couldn't be restored—maybe re-created but not restored. What has been called the Plan of God, or the Cosmic Plan by some, we recognize as relating to this means by which man may be restored, the means by which the self-centered state in which man has been trapped may pass away without man passing away. If we want a problem, then that is the problem that was faced by the LORD, and He happens to know what the answer is! But human beings do not; they do not see the problem in its true terms anyway; they do not know what the question is.

For this re-creative process to occur there must be the prophet of the Lord; there must be someone to initiate the creative process by speaking the Word of the Lord. And again, it's not just a matter of saying words; it's a matter of the total expression of living. When the Word of the Lord is spoken on earth then the results are sure. The Word of the Lord was spoken at a particular point in human history through the lips of Jesus, and His whole expression of life was the Word of the Lord. Something obviously was initiated at that point, the results of which are inevitable. It is said that the mills of the gods grind slowly, but they grind exceeding fine. It all works out in the end, one way or the other. So there was an initiating point there, but of course there was an initiating point before that again within the range of our recorded history. It came to pass through Abraham initially: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob; and Jacob had his name changed to Israel. And so subsequent to Jacob the Israel pattern came into the picture.

There must be some significance to this particular word. I'm sure Jacob didn't change his name on the basis of a momentary whim, as some human beings do on occasion. There has been consideration on the part of many with respect to the derivation of the word, trying to understand what it might mean. I suppose we could correlate it with the chosen people, as it turned out, but there is more to it than that. The actual meaning could perhaps be best summarized by using the words “the action of God.” Israel—the action of God. This particular word correlates with another word, Jehovah—God in action on earth. But if God is in action on earth there must be the evidence of His action. That which gives evidence of the action of God on earth is Israel. It certainly doesn't merely indicate the Jewish people, and it certainly doesn't indicate a little strip of land in Palestine.

You may recall that there was a point in the life of Abraham when he stood upon a certain spot on the surface of the earth, which happened to be in Palestine, and the Lord instructed him to look northward and southward and eastward and westward, saying to him that all the land that he saw would be his and for his seed. I might read the passage: “And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.”

How far do you think Abraham saw? Was it a clear day, or was it foggy? Of course the point is not with respect to physical vision; this is the usual human reaction, a material reaction. There was a man who stood on Marianna Butte in Colorado, not far from the Ranch, who looked around and claimed all the land that he saw. Well it took in a certain amount of territory, I suppose, but that is one way of looking at land ownership, so to speak; on the other hand one may have a greater vision. One can see, looking northward, that there is considerable scope included; likewise southward, eastward and westward. In fact when you've accepted a clear vision you have included the whole earth, and that is exactly what was being portrayed here. The whole earth belongs to the LORD, not just some little patch of it tax-free—
the whole earth! The action of God relates to the whole earth, and the action of God is not a strip of land, certainly; it isn't even the earth. The earth is the particular setting for the action of God insofar as we are concerned as the sons and the daughters of God, but there is no means for God to act on earth without a prophet and without Israel. Israel is the action of God on earth.

That little strip of land that is nowadays called Israel came to birth with the idea of being the homeland of the Jewish people. I doubt if there's enough room for all of them there; but actually the Jewish people are no more Israel than the rest of the peoples of the world. It isn't a matter of earthly heredity. The only value of earthly heredity at the present time is that it allows people to be present. There wouldn't be anyone present at all if it wasn't for earthly heredity; but in view of the fact that people are present, earthly heredity has done its job, so we can get along to other things, namely heavenly heredity. From the standpoint of heavenly heredity the action of God is made possible. Earthly heredity makes possible the presence of heavenly heredity on earth but it is heavenly heredity now on earth which makes possible the action of God on earth. The chosen people, then, in this regard are chosen on the basis of their heavenly heredity, not of their earthly heredity. Out of every nation, kindred, tongue and people come the sons and daughters of God, establishing the action of God on earth. The land of Israel is the earth. It is the setting for the action of God. Man re-created is the action of God on earth.

Perhaps it could be said that the initial land of Israel is described as the Garden of God—the Promised Land, a spiritual land; but, as we have noted, that land is not and cannot be separated from the earth. That it has been separated from the earth in human consciousness doesn't mean that it is actually separated. It merely seems to be so to human beings, so that all that they see is the earth. And human beings in their self-centered state try to possess the land and so there is conflict in consequence, because everybody wants his own little piece; and one little piece isn't enough, he wants two little pieces; and so it goes. It expands onto the large scale internationally: every nation for itself. While there is a national pattern which relates to what I have called power politics, there is far more to power politics than nationalism. So human beings in their self-centered state have their eyes fastened upon their own greedy endeavors and perhaps upon mere survival, totally ignoring the truth, the truth which cannot be seen in that self-centered state. No matter how much knowledge may be gained, the truth is never seen, because the truth is that heaven and earth are one.

The Garden of God is present in the earth, always has been, largely uninhabited. But the very moment that there are inhabitants of the Garden of God, which is in the earth, then the Garden of God begins to become apparent in the earth. There are people living in it. It may not be seen by most to be the case but it actually is the case. It was true with respect to the Master when He was on earth. He was just about the sole inhabitant of the Garden at that time. Who else knew it? Apparently scarcely anyone, but it was the truth of the matter. He was in the Garden and He never left the Garden—witness the so-called resurrection. He was never anywhere else but in the Garden. The appearance was that He was in the tomb. It was that appearance because human beings live in the tomb, in the grave. That's what they see; that's all they see. They see and exist in a nonexistent state. The nonexistent state is the earth separate from the heaven. The earth wouldn't exist if it were separate from the heaven; therefore it can't be. But human beings exist on earth as though it were. That is a state of self-delusion, isn't it, complete self-deception, inhabiting an imaginary world full of problems, dream state, more of a nightmare state. Have you ever struggled to solve problems in your dreams? It doesn't work too well, does it? The best way is to wake up—no more dream problems, nothing to be solved!

We have accepted, presumably, the responsibility of wakefulness, that the Word of the Lord may be spoken on earth because there are prophets on earth. We have a different view of the meaning of the word prophet. Amongst other things, it is a very profitable condition. The Word of the Lord is spoken on earth to the dry bones and there comes a shaking. Did any of you notice that? In various ways you have been shaken, but the world of mankind is certainly being shaken nowadays. Why? Just by chance? “Oh it's always been like this.” It's always been like this, yes, but not so intense as it is now becoming and not in a situation where there is the action of God on earth now appearing. The action of God on earth appeared through those who were called Israelites of old to a certain extent. Their presence certainly shook things up in that area of the earth's population, but it didn't go very far. It didn't come to the point where there was a general recognition, with respect to the promised land, that it was anything other than a little area of material habitation; and that stuck, rigid state of consciousness has persisted even to this day. “The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein”; and when the Word of the Lord is spoken on earth the fact that the earth is the Lord's immediately begins to become apparent.

We're not particularly interested in solving the world's problems, or even our own for that matter. We certainly would offer human beings everywhere a Happy New Year. I doubt if too many will accept it. We won't wish it on them or try to impose it. It depends upon human reaction, reaction to the Word of the Lord spoken on earth. Let's make very sure that the Word of the Lord is spoken on earth! When it is, we find that is all that is necessary. There is a shaking and bone comes to his bone. We see it happening, a skeleton taking form. Which bones happen to be shaken first, come together first, is the business of the Word of the Lord. There is of course a reason as to why certain ones in certain places on earth do find themselves being shaken and coming together. It's not by chance. According to the media, and therefore according to human views in many places, South Africa, for instance, is a bad place—apartheid there; terrible thing! And yet it is a place where the bones are coming together. Interesting, isn't it? The LORD is not interested in human judgments or appearances. He is simply interested in letting what is right appear in the fulfilment of His purpose. Human concepts about justice or anything else mean utterly nothing.

Let the Word of the Lord be spoken and all things are made new. What is necessary in the unfoldment of that newness will come to pass. We may observe it coming to pass. [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/2020/01/a-great-company-without-number-grace.html] We certainly will be involved with respect to some of the events that occur in that coming to pass, but we rightly, as sons and daughters of God, live in the Garden of Eden. The Garden of Eden includes Eden, the earth. We live on earth, but in the Garden on earth. That is the only real place to be. If one imagines one can live simply on the earth without regard to the Garden, one will find out that it doesn't work, as human beings have been finding out generation after generation for twenty thousand years. It seems that people are slow to learn. Trying to live on earth as though the Garden weren't on earth is to die, because it's an unreal state; it doesn't exist, and so anyone who insists upon staying in that state finally finds out that he doesn't exist. All very logical! But living in the Garden on earth, we do live, but in a real state, something that is factual and not imaginary.

Living in the Garden on earth, the Word of the Lord is spoken. And when the Word of the Lord is spoken there is a shaking, and by reason of that shaking things come together and things fall apart—both! Our concern is with the things that are coming together. Whatever falls apart should fall apart—let it go! And so we may share in the creative purposes of God on earth, the action of God on earth.

The Creative Word

The  Creative  Word

Martin Cecil   March 27, 1957

If we are to be in position to play our part in that creative work to which God has called us we must all actively participate in the creative cycles which are moving. We must all be aware, at least in some measure, of what it is that is moving, and we all need to experience the results of the movement of the creative cycle through ourselves.

It is sometimes imagined that, somehow or other, those who are responsible for God's creative work on earth can establish direct and controlled creative cycles that are operating in relationship to the needs out there beyond somewhere, as though the operator, so to speak, were entirely separate from the creative cycles that are in operation. Of course that is not true. Whatever needs to be done must be done through those who have the responsibility of allowing the extension of the creative cycles into the world to others. If we recognize that there is something to be achieved out there in the world—a tremendous undertaking—how is it going to be done? Are we going to be able to gather together in our hands, so to speak, sufficient power to project it out there in order to accomplish something in relationship to the world? No, it does not work that way. It works through us; that is, if we accept the responsibilities of our Ministry in the Name of the LORD. That which needs to work out out there must work out in here first; and as it works out in relationship to the point of focalization, it may extend then out into the world. But it is not something separate from ourselves. Therefore it is evident that we need to have an understanding of what it is that is unfolding in relationship to ourselves, because then we can see how that cycle works in relationship to those on out beyond.

With respect to creative cycles, we know that there are what Ezekiel spoke of as “wheels within wheels.” We might consider, for instance, one Creative Day as it is described in the Book of Genesis. We know that that Creative Day is considerably longer than twenty-four hours, and within the scope of that Creative Day there were sub-cycles working, and within the scope of the sub-cycles there were other smaller cycles still, and so on. But the same principles operate in relationship to all true creative processes. We recognize, for instance, in relationship to our own Program, that there is a large cycle including all of you and many others. With respect to that cycle there is the necessity for movement in it and the experience of progress and change. Such things have been unfolding over the years. But in relationship to the specific requirements of our Ministry there are numerous points where sub-cycles are properly initiated. We cannot really separate any cycle in the Divine Pattern from any other. They are all part of one thing. As a cycle is initiated, or what we have called a sub-cycle, we recognize that no matter what went before, no matter what is unfolding in other cycles, in relationship to the one that is being initiated the creative principles find application. Even though those creative principles may have been recognized as finding application in relationship to some other cycle, they must be seen again always with respect to the one that is being initiated.

In many places in the Bible we have mention made of the Word, and of the importance of words. In the 107th Psalm, for instance, it is recorded in one of the verses: “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” “He sent his word, and healed them.” In this we may recognize again that the Word is vitally important to creative processes. In fact there is no healing at any time in relationship to anyone except on the basis of the Word of God. “He sent his word, and healed them.” That is the only way by which healing takes place. We also have our Master's own expression: “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” Life itself is dependent upon the Word of God.

Human beings, when they think about words, consider primarily the form which is made manifest in sound. Perhaps there might be consideration given to the written word also, but with respect to creative processes we are primarily concerned with what is said. “And God said…” “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God”—the spoken word. That which man recognizes or assumes to be the spoken word is actually not the Word. It is a word taking form at this level of being. It is fortunate indeed that man's words are not actually the Creative Word. They have an effect, it is true, and they have been involved in the process which has produced the chaos and confusion in the world, but man's words of themselves are not creative words. The Word itself, the true Word, is an invisible thing. We have seen, for instance, how the word Word, used in the 1st chapter of the Gospel according to John, refers to Shekinah, or the Christ, that which expresses from God. God is not left Word-less just because His words are not spoken so that human beings may hear them, understand and comprehend them on earth. The Word of God, then, is spoken by God, and the true Word is consequently, insofar as man is concerned, an invisible thing. But if there is to be a creative process in the Divine sense out here on earth the Creative Word must take form out here on earth; it must be spoken at the level where the creative cycle is supposed to operate. All the vibrational factors of the Creative Word of God, as it has specific application to His creative cycles here on earth, properly come to focus in the form of words which are brought forth through man.

This morning, in one of the classes, I pointed out that the words used in the Motherland Tongue were not arbitrary things established by man. Of course they were not, because in the beginning man was Divine Man and he was not functioning self-actively, separate from God. Therefore he was not imposing anything upon God. That which was of God was brought forth through man according to the Divine Design, under the Divine Control. Therefore all the vibrational factors which specifically applied to some certain word which needed to be given form on earth came to focus and the Word itself revealed the essences of that which was focalized. I used the illustration of the word God. Human beings use the word “God” in a multitude of different ways, and the concepts which human beings hold with respect to God are many and varied. There is a tangled pattern of distortion with respect to man's understanding of God. Therefore the word “God” itself is not a true symbol; it is something which man has arbitrarily established insofar as the English language is concerned. If we spoke some other language we would use some other word. But there is just One Word that is a true symbol of God, of the actuality of God, the reality of God, the truth of God. Of course until the vibratory field is clear insofar as man is concerned, so that the truth is established there, and all the vibratory factors which come to focus in that which truly is God in the Word which should be used to reveal the truth of God, that word which does so reveal the truth cannot be spoken, it cannot be known. So the words that man actually uses are not true symbols of that which comes to focus in relationship to them, because insofar as man generally speaking is concerned, that which comes to focus in relationship to His word is a tangle of distortions. It is not the reality. It is not the true thing. And so man's words, no matter what his language may be, are substitute symbols. Because of the variety of concepts, because of the variety of states of human beings, the variety of patterns in which man functions, we have a variety of terms, in a variety of languages. But rightly speaking there is only one language, the Motherland Tongue, and in the Motherland Tongue the truth comes to focus in relationship to that which needs to be expressed and the Word that is brought forth focalizes the essences of that which has been brought to focus, and the spoken word then is the starting point for a true creative process.

We have taken note of the record in the Book of Genesis, where it speaks of Adam having all the animals parade past him and he gave them all names. And it seems to human beings rather a foolish picture. But here was the creative process by which all that should appear on the surface of the earth was being given form. The cycle by which it might take form was being initiated, and the truth with respect to each specific creative form to be came to focus first in a word, the Word which focalized the true essence of that which was to appear in form. The vibratory factors were all established from the Divine standpoint; they were invisible, nothing made manifest yet. These vibratory factors were to be brought to focus in man, who was the instrument for God's creative processes on earth; and the first requirement in relationship to the bringing forth of the true forms, according to the Divine Design and under God's control, was through the Spoken Word. Human beings, having functioned so long in self-activity, find it hard to comprehend. It seems as though man would just have to think up a name for this particular animal, we will say, that was going to be brought forth. He might see the vibratory factors in relationship to it and, having seen the vibratory factors, he would figure out: “Now what would be a good name for that?” But it does not work that way. It was not man's responsibility to try to figure out anything. It was his responsibility to let the vibratory factors come to focus in himself so that they would bring forth through him the right word, which would contain and begin to give form to the essences of that which was being created.

Now I have been outlining this process for you in relationship to something that was of the far-distant past, in order that you might begin to see the principles involved, in order that you might begin to see how it works; because it was exactly the process by which anything that is of God can be brought forth now. The Creative Word is absolutely essential. For the time being we are using substitutes. In other words, that which is brought forth on the basis of the substitute will not and cannot be the final product; it will only be moving in the right direction. It will be an interim creation so that gradually, moving forward in the creative cycle so established, we may finally reach a point where it is possible for the vibratory factors in their pure essences to be brought to focus here on earth and bring forth the Creative Word in relationship to themselves. The Creative Word in that sense, in that ultimate sense of bringing forth that which is the perfect manifestation of the Divine Design on earth as God created His world to be—those creative words cannot be brought forth now; they could not exist now. We could not speak them now. As has so often been emphasized, that which would be perfect in the ultimate state, if it were arbitrarily established now would be imperfect, it would not be right. It would not work anyway; it could not appear. The delicate vibratory factors involved could not be brought forth in the harsh, disturbed condition that is present in this distorted world at the present time. There is much of substance itself which cannot manifest in the world as it now is, substance which was used originally when the world was first created and Divine Man was functioning correctly on earth. That which human beings do in their self-activity, their conflicts, their harsh, hard attitudes, their unfeelingness in relationship to things Divine, would simply prevent any such manifestation; or, if it appeared, such self-activity would destroy it quickly, even as it has been destroyed. That is why it is not here.

So words are vitally important, and we remember what our Master said: “By thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” If we are to allow any creative cycle to work, to unfold, and to bring forth that for which it was initiated, we must realize that words play a vital part in that process. If we allow distorted vibratory factors out of the world to be brought to focus in ourselves, so that words are brought forth through us giving form to the essences of those evil vibratory patterns, then we are doing that which destroys the beginning manifestation of such expression of Divine Form that can appear at this point if it is protected. And here we begin to see the necessity for the reestablishment of the hedge as something stable and consistent—the hedge round about, and within which the developing patterns of things Divine are safe. They are not safe when the spoken word gives focus to the essences of the evil vibratory patterns in the world. Therefore I trust you can see clearly how vitally important it is that we should only allow to come to focus in ourselves that which will bring forth in the Spoken Word something that is true to the Divine Essences. Only that will maintain the atmosphere in which things Divine can develop and grow. “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.” Consequently we recognize that it is essential we should be pure in heart. If at any point any of you find yourselves responding in the wrong direction, so that something out of the world begins to come to focus in you of the distorted vibratory patterns, there is the necessity of course for repenting quickly. But above all, do not let it take form in words; for, taking form in words, it begins to bring it out into the creative field where the the Garden of God is growing, and there is destruction. The Word of God heals. “He sent his word, and healed them, and saved them from their destructions,” the destructions which result from the unpolarized, self-active words of man. The world is full of words—human beings talking, giving focalized expression to the essences of the unreal constantly. The world is full of noise, a shattering and a destructive thing.

It is needful that there should be a protected place somewhere on earth where the Garden of God may grow, where only the Word of God is spoken and the essences of the unreal find no opportunity to take form in words. Gradually, then, the atmosphere may be established, coming out of the winter of man's self-activity into the springtime which leads to summer, the summertime where the atmosphere is such that the things of God can grow profusely without fear of destruction. We are just emerging into the time when there may be re-established on earth a point through which the Creative Word may again be spoken on earth, so that the things of God may begin again to take form on earth. Are we going to let it be meaningful, let it bring forth what it may and should? Are we going to share together in providing that creative instrument through which the Word of God may be spoken, so that He may send His Word to heal the children of men, and to heal His world here on earth, and to save them from their destructions?

“Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!” As you begin to see these things, and comprehend them, the words of that verse take on new meaning. “Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!” Here they are working. Shall we share in letting the fulfilment come? Shall we remember these things which we have considered this evening in the days to come, so that we only permit the essences of things Divine to come to focus in relationship to ourselves? As we do that, our words will be truly creative, bringing forth the things of God in His Garden committed to our care and keeping. Let us dress the Garden and keep it, living by every Word which proceeds out of the mouth of God.
