The Increase — New Heaven and New Earth

Perhaps we have begun to see more clearly that the only possible approach that anyone can make towards spiritual things, in the world as it now is, is from the standpoint of human nature. This emphasizes the necessity for the introduction of something into the world that is not from the standpoint of human nature. For this to happen there is a special requirement and a special provision, proceeding from the LORD in the unfoldment of the creative cycles that are at work. We have recognized this as being a fact by reason of the presence of Uranda, in the first place, in these recent times.
Human nature is childish at best—perhaps I should say childlike at best. Usually it is childish, rebellious and destructive. The best that can be expected from human nature is to be childlike. This is essentially what the Master himself said. The only possible way of approach was as little children. Maturity is a different state altogether. True maturity is not some sort of a mature human nature. One could say that there ain’t no such animal; it is either childish, or childlike at best. If there is a childlike attitude then the creative cycle can be initiated. As long as it merely remains rebellious and destructive childishness, there is nothing of any meaning that can occur. To the extent that in times past we ourselves exhibited some sort of a childlike attitude we began to move, so that the new state might emerge. This requires resurrection. Now, obviously, in the state of the child there is the initial requirement to deal with that state of the child. A child requires control externally applied, simply because no mature capacity has been developed yet which would allow it to spring forth from inside. Of course the intent is to provide whatever education is necessary, in the growing process for the child, so that the capacity might be developed, and that reality of control then emerge into expression because there is the facility to let it happen. Now, if we see that the best that can be expected of human nature anywhere is childlike, then our approach is on this basis, in the handling of children.
This may seem to require a certain imposition. So one can see the necessity of extending to the children of the world—most of them in adult bodies—some sort of control—and in fact, children are looking for control. They may rebel about it if it is provided, but they were looking for it in the first place, because it is a natural unfolding in the sequence of events of growing up. It needs to be provided in the right way, with love and understanding. But firmness is one of the most essential elements for which a child seeks. Of course, if a child stays too long a child then it becomes a more challenging business to offer the essential control. The habit of destructiveness and rebellion has been firmly established by then. But here is the picture as it really is.
No matter how impressed human nature has been with its own abilities it has in fact all been childishness. Now again, we would need to be careful about saying this sort of thing, because it is sweeping away the rubbish which is still valued highly. So we cannot sweep it away too quickly. But obviously, there could come physical events, for instance, which do sweep it away very quickly. All this relates to the traditions of the human nature past. It is part of what is rightly passing away. All this culture is going down the drain.
A New Heaven and a New Earth—this is the reality. But thus far I think it has been mostly a fancy. The important things are what is here now, all the great achievements of human nature, and it takes a little while for a person to reach a point where he stops giving weight to the treasures of human nature. And the treasures of human nature are not just what is in the bank account, but all the cultural traditions, which most people consider to be life itself. But we begin to know the truth to the extent that we have continued in the Word.
A rather interesting picture is portrayed in the story of Job, at the very beginning of the book: “There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil… There were born unto him seven sons and three daughters. His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.”
This was a subject of complaint a little later on the part of satan. Satan’s word was, to the LORD, “Thou hast increased substance in the land.” Substance is increased in the land. [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/seeing-from-above-and-below.html] This would seem to indicate wealth. The emphasis should be placed upon the true values. One has just so much capacity to appreciate value—all that capacity needs to be given to the true value. The question arises as to how this is to be done. In what is said here about Job there was no indication that he should not have been the greatest of the men of the east, or that he shouldn’t have had all this substance. In fact it is said of him that he was perfect and upright, one that feared God and eschewed evil. And perhaps the words “eschewed evil” are the key in this respect. He was not subject to any supposed great value of all this substance. He was not controlled by it. He feared God, and he eschewed the creative process which is operative relative to external things.
That creative process as it operates in the substance of the earth does not deplete the earth. The human tenure here on the planet has depleted the earth considerably, but the true creative cycle does not do that. In fact, just the opposite. Here is a creative process—there is increase, and the evidence of this was the increase of substance as it related to Job. He was a perfect and an upright man because he feared God and eschewed evil. His values were where they belong, in the heaven and not in the earth. He eschewed evil. He did not have to destroy the forms of physical substance in order to prove that he feared God. Satan took the attitude that he didn’t fear God for naught, because he had all this substance, and therefore, take away that substance and we would soon see whether he was a perfect and upright man anymore. Well, the way it worked out he lost all the substance; but he did not curse God and die—it didn’t change his values.
So whether there is substance or there is not substance is irrelevant. With human beings who judge on the basis of externals, it has always seemed that the substance or the lack of it was the supreme point. If the true creative cycle is in operation there is no depletion, there is a constant increase. There is the generation consistently of the finer substance, which in turn permits the action of spirit to occur and consequently the creative process to continue. And the creative process, working as it should, increases substance at every level. Presently we think of the importance of increasing this fine substance, but there is a balance here, when everything is working the way it should. There does not have to be such a tremendous concentration upon increasing the fine substance, because it is already there. There is a balance all the way through. There is the essential substance at every level, and therefore the increase that comes as the creative cycle operates increases substance at every level, in balance.
How this may actually happen in the earthly sense remains to be experienced, because that is the only way it can be known. It would be quite futile, even if we were capable of seeing ahead, to do so. What would be gained by it? We are under the necessity of letting all our available capacity and energy be brought to focus relative to the way things are. We have sufficient to handle the present moment, and all for which we are responsible in the present moment.
Obviously, as long as human nature is hanging around, as long as satan is on the scene, there is a danger of reversion into subjection to the substance which rightly increases at every level, subjection to the substance in the earthly sense. This after all is what caused the fall in the first place. There was nothing wrong with the Garden, nothing wrong with the beautiful state and all the wealth in the earthly sense that was present in that state, until human beings began to be subject to it, and began to govern their function on the basis of this substance because it seemingly added to their pleasure. But the very moment you become subject to the substance for your pleasure, your pleasure starts to go out the window and depletion sets in. Depletion is now seemingly reaching some sort of a crescendo in the world today. Everything is going to run out, and there is a wild scramble for what is left. Well, that has scarcely begun, I would suggest.
But the true state is to be restored through the creative cycle of resurrection, and none of the childishness of human nature can achieve resurrection. There is nothing that can come out of human nature that can achieve anything. The world is filled with rebellious and destructive children. Here and there, there is someone who is childlike, and there is the immediate starting point, provided that there is an adequate state of spiritual maturity present on earth to offer what is needful to the childlike. If the childlike are left to their own devices they will probably become childish, rebellious and destructive, like everybody else. There does not seem to be any other way, and there has not been any other way, because there has not been what was necessary on earth of spiritual maturity to offer that other way, the one way out of human nature, the way out of childlikeness. All too many have thought that the permanent condition was to be childlike; therefore to remain a child. But that is only the starting point.
Resurrection is resurrection into spiritual maturity, which is an unknown state in human nature childishness. So here in this story of Job there was initially spiritual maturity evident—a perfect and upright man, one that feared God and eschewed evil. And it is said that “there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters.” The vital importance of the right use of sex is actually being emphasized in this verse. [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/seven-dimensional-worldseven.html] When the values are given to the earthly substance the physical experience of sex becomes supreme. It is weighted at that end of the scale. This is one factor in human experience that has kept him thoroughly bound under the domination of satan. The supreme value has been given to the experience of physical sex as it has been known by human beings in the human state. This is only a fraction of the reality of sex, and the reality cannot possibly be known as long as this unbalanced approach is foremost. And yet, once given a perfect and an upright man, one who fears God and eschews evil, then the reality of sex becomes very important, because without it the essential creation that is to occur cannot do so.
The creative process is sex. If you exclude it you have no creative process. Now, obviously, it has not been excluded in human experience, at least at the physical level. And because of this there has been a creative process at work in the affairs of men, but the creative process was not a constructive one. It was not the true, balanced creative process for which man was created. It became destructive, and all the hell that has taken form on earth is not unrelated to this dominance of physical sex in human experience. The unbalanced experience in this regard has produced an unbalanced state.
Here is an emphasis upon the importance of sex in the sense that whatever happens is produced by it. If sex is an unbalanced experience, as it has been, then this unbalanced state has resulted on earth. If included in that unbalanced experience have been factors of destructiveness in the attitudes and the emotions of those who have been indulging themselves in this field, then all this is reproduced abundantly. Here is the key, then, to destructiveness. But it is also at the same time the key to true creativeness. Generally speaking when sex considerations arise, those considerations emphasize themselves in the consciousness of those concerned with respect to physical sex. This has been the habit, and as long as that is the first thing that is emphasized we remain trapped. We have had some awareness of the spectrum of the balanced state.
As an Assembly we are probably the bow, in other words representing the whole spectrum, not just the lower end of the spectrum. [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/let-there-be-firmament.html] Flesh is obviously present here, but there are other levels also present, to which heretofore inadequate substance has been given. Only as there is substance at any level does that level have any meaning insofar as experience in the dimensional world is concerned. Because all the substance which human beings have generated has been at the lower end of the spectrum, weighted in the physical sense, there could not be anything else but an unbalanced state. Orientation was downward. Human beings have been weighted at the bottom. The weight needs to be properly distributed. There is a proper proportion, where weight is evenly distributed. Considering this matter of sex then, more attention should be paid to where there has been little or no experience than to where there has been experience. But if one comes to speak about sex as a valuable tool in the creative process, most people think of it simply in physical terms, [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/new-heavenfine-substance.html] and they want it explained to them how sex can be used in this physical sense to be of value to the Lord. You cannot use it to be of value to the Lord if that is all you are thinking about. There is a whole spectrum here.
When sex is used rightly, in a balanced way at every level, there is the creation of the New Earth at the lower end. But our concern has been with the New Heaven, which is at the upper end, and the end where there has been the least experience—the least experience because there has been no substance there for the experience. So there must be the generation of the substance to fill out the various levels where the creative spirit of God may be accommodated. If you simply try to accommodate the creative spirit of God at the level of physical sex it is bound to be a very unbalanced thing. In general terms one could describe the upper spectrum of sex as spiritual sex. Spiritual sex in experience is necessary for the creation of the New Heaven, just as physical sex in experience is necessary to the creation of the New Earth. To describe the nature of spiritual sex, one could say that it is the union of the Word with the consciousness of human beings. Here you may recognize why emphasis has been placed upon the importance of the Word. There have been a lot of people associated with our ministry who have had little awareness of the vital nature of the Word in this sense—that it would be impossible to know the right use of physical sex without having first experienced the right use of spiritual sex, without the Word having entered into one’s own consciousness so that it would abide there, so that there might be union.
This is a process of which you are also familiar: radiation, response, attraction, union, unified radiation. The radiation is the Word to which, if there is a state of being childlike, there may be uncluttered response, response which does not have any axes to grind, which has no expectations of personal fulfillment or anything else. You know if you are honest, from your own experience, that most of what you have experienced in the way of response in the past has had expectations. “If I respond, then I will experience thus and so.” That is childish, not childlike. The childlike state is the guileless state, where there is no expectation, no requirement at all, no need for a reward. When there is no need for a reward there is no need for punishment. If you find yourself being punished, as you suppose, it is because you have been a seeker after a reward.
The guileless, childlike state seeks nothing for itself; there is a spiritual yielding. Without spiritual yielding there cannot really be physical yielding. What has passed at times as physical yielding has simply been a wilted state. So we are concerned with spiritual sex—not merely for itself, because the fact of the matter is that heaven and earth are one. Physical sex requires union of a sort, spiritual sex requires union of another sort; but the union of spiritual sex and the union of physical sex establish the true union—the union of heaven and earth.
Now the working of sex when seen from the spiritual standpoint is not at all structured. There is a design, but in the sense of what in the movement of the creative cycle is fitting. Human beings want, as a rule, to get things pinned down. Well, in any field, “Is this all right or not?” Who can tell? We are not dealing with the form initially, but with the spirit, and there are multitudes of creative requirements, both from the standpoint of the individual and also from the standpoint of the collective purposes of God. Each moment is unique. We cannot crystallize any moment and say, “Now this is the perfect moment.” It is impossible to do. Isn’t it an amazing thing that there is such a vastness of experience available that each moment is unique? It never happened before, it will never happen again.
So if we see this in terms of sex, then clearly you are not going to be able to establish any structured rules and regulations. There is no marrying and giving in marriage in heaven. This is all an earthly production that, incidentally, as it is known in the human nature state, is one of the things that is passing away. It has been important to human beings because it has given some sort of a feeling of security, to have a structure set up that is going to endure. This is even carried to the extreme in some areas, where those concerned try to set it up so that it is going to endure for eternity. As though human beings could determine what the way of God is. No, there is no structure in that sense. One of the things that characterized the world, according to the Master’s Word, was that, as in the days of Noah, they were marrying and giving in marriage, eating and drinking—all the usual human activities. Sex and food.
Because the state is unstructured does not mean that it is somehow uncontrolled and promiscuous in some fashion. It merely means that what occurs occurs accurately and rightly in the natural creative cycles as they are moving, and this requires whatever may be essential to allow these creative purposes to be fulfilled. The human attitude toward that would probably be, “I’m not sure that I like that. I’m not going to have any say in the matter.” Well, who are you to have a say, if you’re just this human nature creature that is going to pass away anyway? So you wouldn’t have any say. But there is say from the standpoint of the spirit of God, and if one is associated with that expression as one’s own, then one has say in the matter. And the say one has is based in the wonders of true creation.
The experience of this has been lost to human beings, so that they cannot recall it at all. They try to hang on to such supposed pleasure as they think they now have, fearful of what this austere God might do if He had His way—as though that would take all the joys out of living, when in fact the true way is the way by which there is increase, multiplication. Let the increase come.
What is the full potential in this planet do you think? Human beings have no idea at all. Is this planet somehow isolated from the rest of the solar system? What is the full potential of the solar system? There is a realm of complete blank insofar as human consciousness is concerned. Well all this is within the range of the true creative process, in which we have a part to play. I emphasize this morning something of that part as it relates to the field of sex, because this is the creative process. But do not get trapped into the view that the creative process is merely physical sex. If we have the usual view of the seven colors of the rainbow, then it would only be one-seventh, wouldn’t it? So we concern ourselves primarily with this matter of spiritual sex, spiritual union, which is the union of the Word with our own consciousness. But if there are possibilities of delight relative to physical sex, possibilities of great variety in fact, then how much more is that true spiritually speaking? And it is the spiritual experience that brings the delight into the physical experience, and there is no longer the attitude taken that the physical experience is what brings the delight into some sort of higher level of spiritual experience. No, it is the other way around. So we have opened the door a crack this morning, and we will see whether it will open wider as we proceed.

The Infinite World Of Rightness

The troubles in which human beings find themselves are simply present because there has been an ignoring of the provision that is always there to allow the causative elements to spring from the Father and the Originator.
We might take a look at the true world and the false world, the world of rightness and the world of wrongness. Those who are in the world of wrongness think they can manipulate the world that they themselves produced so that it becomes the world of rightness. That is an absolute impossibility. So there is the world of wrongness in the experience of human beings. This universal world is a world of rightness; and there is a little speck in this universal world where, in the experience of certain creatures, there is a world of wrongness. There is nothing in this little speck of wrongness that amounts to a row of beans—but it certainly needs to be dissolved. Even a very small cinder in the eye is uncomfortable and prevents clear vision. Perhaps man was created to be the eye of God, amongst other things, and he has become a cinder in that eye. So even though the Father and the Originator is patient, sooner or later He would like to get the cinder out of His eye.
There is a vast state of rightness—an infinite state of rightness, and an almost infinitesimal state of wrongness just in the experience of human beings and in the world which they have created, having made it out of some of the material that was available for their use. It is virtually nothing in the relative sense. The state of rightness is vast. Everything is all right, except in the experience of individual human beings. My, the Creator is patient, isn’t He?
Awakening to the opportunity that is available to let the world of human experience be the universal world of rightness presents to us the job which we are here to do. We are not here to try to make the world of wrongness into the world of rightness. Is that a hard pill to swallow, when you stop to think about it? The world of rightness already exists; the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. The world of rightness is universally present, except within the experience of human beings, who have created for themselves a world of wrongness.
The world of rightness is present everywhere but in the experience of human beings, who have excluded it. It is fathered and originated by the Father and the Originator, and not by the ideas and the desires of the human mind and heart. Only as the human mind and heart are aligned with the design and the control of the truth, which is an aspect of the nature of the Universal Father and Originator, does the right world come into the experience of human beings. It can’t be produced without the truth, without what is present in the Father and the Originator. There is the Source. The universal world of rightness is present because it is a clear, beautiful evidence of the nature of that Source. The experience of that Source in human expression has been the thing that has been absent.
Human minds and hearts, occupied with their addiction, exclude the expression and the experience of the Father and the Originator of all things visible and invisible; and because that is excluded there is a world of falseness, of wrongness. When the expression of the Father and the Originator is included in human experience then the world of rightness is known. There it is! It has always been there, except in this little speck of human consciousness.
We begin to know in our own experience what it is that has been absent from human experience in the general sense, and we are responsible for providing this at the level where human beings are. We are not here to uphold the world of wrongness. We are not here to try to destroy it, because it turns out to be an unreal world anyway. Why would one struggle to destroy something that is unreal, something that really isn’t there? That would be the height of foolishness, wouldn’t it? Shadow-boxing—there is nothing there. How easily this whole state of affairs in human experience could be dissolved. We begin to see how this is possible, but we recognize our own responsibility in the matter.
We are responsible for making so obvious what it is that has been absent from human experience that it is impossible for human beings to avoid it anymore. There will be those who, when they see, welcome it. There will be those who do not. Well that is their business. But it is the only way that what has been absent from human experience may become present again, and the world of rightness therefore put in an appearance in the experience of human beings. That is the only place that it isn’t being experienced.
How vast is the world of rightness! Let us see things in their true proportions, that, acknowledging this world of rightness and the reason for its existence, we may be found capable of proclaiming this world within the range of human consciousness. That is all that is needed. And those who understand these things must be the ones who are responsible. So we rejoice to know the reality of the world of rightness, to know and experience this Kingdom which belongs in the experience of human beings everywhere. We bring it to them, not so much by trying to tell people about it but by being it [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/2022/03/now-or-never.html], so that the world of rightness is here because we are here.
We don’t try to force anyone to experience the world of rightness; that would be impossible anyway. We are not interested in calling the fire of God down upon the heads of those who refuse to experience it. It will come down anyway! The fire puts in an appearance for everyone, but some are a part of the fire and some are what is being consumed by the fire. So, as a part of the fire, we find ourselves in a radiant position. Are we radiant? It is a word that is used sometimes to describe people. “Oh they are so radiant!”
A larger and greater love: here is the fire, here is the radiance. The Fire that Burns, the Light that Glows, the Cloud of Glory: Shekinah, the Christ, irrefutably in expression on earth, a fire that is impossible to deny. This is our destiny. We are incarnate on earth for this reason. All these things come easily to remembrance of mind and heart when the expression of that creative spirit is all with which we are identified. There is nothing else that matters. Then there is an all-consuming fire, and that fire must consume our minds and hearts and bodies in the ascending cycle if it is to be offered in radiation into the experience of all people everywhere.

From Within Outwards

Rumours reached me that some of you didn’t recognize what I was doing [in the Class] yesterday, for a while. But I thought that was a good opportunity to give you some of the basic Principles of Meditation. Now, I do not mean by that that I necessarily utilize the Principle quite to that extreme. After you reach a point of Oneness you don’t have to meditate on things of that nature. The only thing you have to meditate upon, after you reach a point of Oneness, is the vibratory factors you’re dealing with—not the things of Reality, not the things of God, not the things that are Real, not the things of Truth. But you do have to meditate upon the vibrational factors you are dealing with in relationship to the processes of manoeuvring them, bringing them to point, dealing with them in various ways. So, once we reach a point of actually working from within outward, so that we are not seeking to work from the outside inward, our meditations are upon the factors with which we deal, and there is no necessity of meditating, as such, upon the Truths of Being.
In this connection we have opportunity to emphasize a very important point, and that is, that the less you try to work from the outside in, as if you were trying to get in, the better off you will be. The human tendency is to try to get within, or work toward the inside. I suppose that tendency comes from the old pattern of human concept where it is assumed that there must have been an apple growing on the forbidden tree and Eve ate the apple, and she found a worm, and she was so startled to find the worm that she felt like one, and ever since then people have been trying to work from the outside in. But you see, that isn’t God’s Way. God’s Way is working from the inside out, and as long as you’re trying to work from the outside in you are running contrary to Divine Action, doing something that is not in harmony or alignment with what God is doing. God is working from the inside out. Now we speak of the Father Within, and the necessity of functioning on the basis of that which is of the Lord Within, but trying to get in to find it is one of the most futile endeavours in which human beings can engage—trying to meditate on a basis of getting in to the Lord, the Lord Within, is utterly futile. It doesn’t work that way.
You need to begin to realize that your problem is to begin to come into alignment with that which is of God. When your mind begins to be aware of the Truth, and you have an opportunity to definitely recognize that it is the Truth, and on the basis of right response you have a confirmation from within yourself. If your mind is not filled in some prejudice or fixation pattern, or if you are not controlled by some escape mechanism, you have a confirmation from within when you hear the Truth, and then you know the Truth. Then, without regard to anything else, you begin to function on the basis of the Truth—no matter what feelings or beliefs or concepts or ideas there may be, no matter what may tend to come up from the subconscious realm, you remain true to the Truth. And it is only as you are honest enough to remain true to the Truth, without regard to control through feeling, that you can begin to experience the individual fulfillment which is in harmony with the Divine Pattern for you.
What then do we do? Divine Action is already a reality. Once you begin to recognize that Truth and accept it, many of the pitfalls and difficulties are immediately removed. The human being imagines that God is withholding His action, that He has to be begged into action, or that He has to be mollified in some way to make Him even consider acting—but that is not the case. God is already in action with respect to all things whatsoever.
There is no problem but what God is already acting with respect to the solution of that problem. There is no need but what God is already acting with respect to the process of filling that need. There is no necessity for an expansion of consciousness and understanding but what God is already acting with respect to providing the means for that expansion of consciousness, that increase of vision. Once you begin to actually accept the Truth that God is already in action with respect to all things needful, within the scope of your awareness and beyond the scope of your awareness, you begin to be in position to work with God and to learn to let God work through you.
Once you actually realize that God’s pattern of action with respect to the needs that are present in the world—all of them, without any exception—is not in any sense confined to the scope of your awareness, but is on the basis of all needs for all people at all times, you can then begin to recognize why the self-active rearrangement of the Divine Pattern of Action within the scope of your consciousness nullifies you, because the Divine Pattern of Action has taken into consideration all needs—not just those of you here, but the needs of every human being on the face of the earth; the needs of nature, every need, without any exception, that rests within the picture of the process of restoring the whole earth to the Edenic State. So, if God is in action already with respect to all of these things, our problem is to learn to share God’s action with respect to those things that come within the scope of our responsibility and capacity.
Now, God does not ask of you anything that is actually beyond your capacity, although you may think He does. Most human beings have a very limited concept with respect to their own capacities insofar as Reality is concerned. They may think they have a great capacity for doing wrong, or functioning in some self-active manner, but generally speaking human beings have a very limited concept of their own capacity for doing the right thing, for sharing Divine Action. So, while God’s requirements of you may seem to be far beyond your capacity to fulfill, they actually are not; and if we did not maintain a pressure causing you to exert yourself beyond your immediate consciousness of capacity you would never grow—if there was no pressure, nothing to urge or inspire you to go beyond the limit of what you think is the best that you can do. That’s why I never accept your best as good enough—never. Its fine, I thank God for it, but I never accept the best that you have made manifest as good enough, because I know that you have a great deal more capacity than you have yet discovered in relationship to yourself. And when you start excusing yourself for having less capacity, or less function within the range of capacity than you know you ought to have, then you are in trouble, because the best that you are aware of isn’t good enough—ever. I’ll accept it for the moment, but that’s all.
We have to recognize that only under a certain amount of pressure can you grow. There is a saying in certain parts of the country, the south or Iowa to illustrate, that you can hear the corn growing. You go out in the corn fields on certain hot days—they’ll be muggy and hot and uncomfortable probably—but they say you can hear the corn growing. Well now, actually you don't hear it growing. What you hear is the result of its growing however; it's under pressure, under pressure to expand, and in the joints where the leaves fit on the stock there is a process of slippage as it grows, so when it grows there's a slippage in those joints, and you can hear the little “poppings” that result. So, while it's not quite accurate, it's reasonable to say that you can hear the corn growing; you can hear the results of its growing. But why does it do that slipping? Because it's under pressure, under pressure to grow.
All growing works out under a certain amount of pressure, but you reach a point where pressure is not uncomfortable, where the pressures of Reality never produce discomfort—in fact, they produce joy and pleasure and satisfaction far beyond the power of my words to describe. But, you need to realize that you must be under pressure to truly grow, and once you begin to let those pressures be designed by God they are all pleasant, comforting, beautiful, Divine. If pressures make you uncomfortable it’s because something is there which God did not design, He did not establish. You are responding in some fashion to some unreal thing; or you are under the necessity of dealing with some unreal thing.
Now, I am under the necessity of working under uncomfortable pressures very often. Why? Because human beings within the scope of my responsibility begin to function on an adverse basis—they let some unreal pattern enter into the picture; they have some wrong type of reaction. Well, I’ve accepted that individual, which includes all of you, into the pattern of my own personal hedge, to take care of you, to protect you as much as you will let me. Those who go out from that, of course, they’re no longer my responsibility. I pay no attention to them. But those who still remain in it, they are my responsibility, and those who are moving toward it, they are my responsibility—and I do everything I can to inspire and protect and encourage, strengthen, so that each may move as rapidly as he or she will along the way. And all of those who have been so accepted are within my own personal vibratory pattern, or Hedge of Radiance—whatever you want to call it—the expanded expression of the pneumaplasmic sphere; and anyone within that sphere has been accepted as a part of myself, to whatever degree of response there is.
Whoever it is, that person has been accepted, as far as I am concerned, as a part of myself, and that means that I have accepted at least a share of responsibility with respect to what that individual does, and if that individual has a false reaction, does something wrong, I either have to share the pressure, the suffering if you please, or segregate that person from My Body. I have no other choice. And I don’t segregate people from My Body. I wait and let them do it—if they go out from it, that’s their business. But I never remove anybody from it. I let them remove themselves. If they must act as refuse, well then, so be it.
But, while any human being is within the scope of that hedge, he or she is a part of me. I have accepted it so, whether the individual involved realizes it or not, and the pressures that develop are within the scope of my own Being; not my personal responsibility in the sense of me as an individual, but my personal responsibility in the sense of me as a Body of many members—or My Body of many members—because you could not have any process of growth or development, or progress, or blessing here, except in that position. You’re not a segregated individual once you begin to respond and move into the pattern here. You are a part of My Body—and, as such, that which works through you influences My Whole Body and I feel it. I must of necessity work with it. And those pressures are sometimes very uncomfortable. Sometimes I can protect the individual involved from the results of his own actions and sometimes I cannot.
But that moves into the realm of intercession. You cannot actually perform intercessory work for anyone who has not accepted, in part at least, the responsibility and privilege of being a part of what you are—it’s only within the scope of the Body. Now the Body extends over all the earth, in actual fact. The Body is not fully formed over all the earth, but the vibratory cords of its initial beginnings extend over all the earth at the present time. When you begin to actually realize that this is the case, and that you cannot do anything wrong without hurting others, and without making it difficult for me, without throwing an extra load, an extra unnecessary burden upon others, you begin to realize that that type of function is dis-service—it is not serving God; it is not serving man; it is not serving yourself; it is not doing anything that is worthwhile. It is serving the devil.
So, what is the Divine Pattern of Action in which you may share? God is in action with respect to all things whatsoever, with respect to every need, in you or in anyone else—whether there is response or not. And at the point of proper response you can connect up with the Pattern of Divine Action, but it must be within the scope of the Divine Design before the effectiveness of that contact can begin to truly manifest. You have to begin to yield to that Divine Pattern. So, instead of trying to move from the outside in, like a worm—that’s why human beings feel like worms; they are trying to go in the wrong direction—they begin to let that which is of God come out through them. They begin to deliberately, consciously, come into alignment with that which God is doing.
What is your God Being doing? I have pointed out that your God Being is responding to the LORD of Lords, and that is true. But on what basis does your God Being respond to the LORD of Lords? Within the scope of the Pattern of the Divine Design. I came into the world with a specific purpose. Every God Being of every man, woman and child on the face of the earth is responding to Me—without any exception anywhere—every God Being of every man, woman and child, high or low, white or black, it makes no difference. I came into the world to fulfil a Mission in relationship to this process of outworking, and without one single exception, every God Being on the face of the earth is already responding to Me—not me as a man, as you see me in the outer sense, perhaps, in the sense of the external revelation of the fact, but from the standpoint of the inner vibrational factors as far as the God Being is concerned, that centering is there. And no God Being attempts to bypass the focalization on earth—no God Being, whether in you or someone anywhere, ever violates that focalization.
When human beings imagine that they can do something that the God Being cannot do, and does not do, they are wrong. They can try, they can spend their lives, their periods of existence on earth, trying to do something else but it doesn’t work. Once any human being begins to realize that there must be a focalization on earth if the Divine Plan is to work on earth, we can see how important it is. God’s will is to be done on earth as it is in heaven—in exactly the same manner. The Divine Pattern comes to a point of focalization in heaven. If it is to work in exactly the same manner on earth it must come to focalization on earth. There is no other way. Anything else is utterly impossible.
So, we begin to realize the wonderful privilege and glorious responsibility we have here—not to go out and try to talk to other people about what I’ve just said. That would only turn them away; only confuse the issue. It is not in any sense necessary. But it is necessary that you begin to realize the reality of your own privilege and responsibility as a member of My Body on earth. And until you so do, you cannot respond to the LORD of Lords. You cannot fulfil His will if you, as a human being, violate His will as it is done in heaven within you. In the heaven within you, your own Lord does not violate His will according to that Divine Design, and the focalization must be on earth if there is to be a fulfillment on earth.
Now, as we begin to recognize these things, we can readily see that man, trying to work from the outside in, on some particularized basis of obtaining spiritual illumination, or progress of some kind, for himself, is violating the basic commandments of God—as surely as if he went out and undertook to deliberately do evil. Why is it that the so-called “good people” suffer the same problems, the same difficulties, the same illnesses, the same miseries that the so-called “evil people” do? This is the reason—because, in their very efforts to do what they think they want in relationship to God in the spiritual processes of growth, they violate the Law, they work contrary to the Law, and they suffer the ill consequences.
Until the human being stops trying to get in to God, stops wanting, stops trying to impose his will, his determination, he cannot begin to know the fulfillments of Reality. But you say, “Well I want to have spiritual development so that I can go out and bless people. I want to be illumined. I want to have this, and that and the other thing so that I can render a greater service.” All right—your motivation is in a sense all right, your intent is all right, but your function is wrong, and if your function is wrong you will not get the results even though you are very sincere. If you are very sincere and try to operate an automobile on a basis that does not recognize its design, no matter how sincere and earnest you are, no matter how hard you push, it won’t work. You can wear yourself out pushing an automobile around over the country if you want to, but you will never get the automobile to operate unless you recognize the principles on which the automobile was designed—and so it is with you!
God is in action from heaven out through the earth—working from the inside out. And when you begin to accept the reality of your polarity with God without first having to be convinced of all of its factors—when you simply accept the Truth, because you see it, and yet do not know it in the sense of full experience, and remain true to that, it begins to move out through you. You begin to conscious of what God is doing. It begins to move you. You begin to speak and act in the current of what God is already doing, and then—Divine Action through you. And there is growth, there is illumination, the gifts of God full and beautiful and complete, ready to be given to you as soon as you stop trying to get them, as soon as you begin to be a channel for their delivery into the earth. It is not a question of whether there are blessings, whether God wants to give blessings. God’s problem has been to find someone who would act as a delivery truck, a means of conveying them into the earth; and once you begin to let them be conveyed, you share them! They manifest through you, and you begin to be that which manifests by reason of your life. It’s so simple and so easy, and human beings have struggled for so long, trying to make it work in some other way—but it doesn’t. They can flounder around in attempts to make the mind accomplish something or other, they can work with memory, they can work with whatever they can get their hands on—all kinds of ways.
Many of these efforts were brought to a very fine point of development in India, for instance, long years ago—the patterns of self-activity which have kept humanity bound. The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, which is the Forbidden Tree. But God is in action and if you let Him act through you, by simply responding, letting it appear, in the little things and in the big, the process works out so easily, so naturally and so quickly. And you begin to be a blessing to those who share Your Body of Being. Or, if it is My Body of Being, of which you are a Member, it is likewise Your Body. It couldn’t be more Your Body if you were the Focalization Point for it—is your toe less a part of your body than your ear, or consider any combination you wish? It’s Your Body. It’s My Body, yes—but until you begin to actually realize that it’s Your Body and that you have responsibilities in it, you have privileges, you cannot begin to come into that alignment where you are true to the Truth and you let Divine Action appear through you.
So, yesterday I gave you a little demonstration of the basic principles of Meditation—the process by which you may come into alignment, attunement, with the currents of Truth in God’s Revealed Word. You can meditate on the words of scripture found in the recognized Bible, or the words of scripture which I have made available to you, and by such a process begin to feel and know and comprehend the Spirit of it, the movement of it, the Reality of it, so that expressing through you, it becomes the manifestation of the Reality of your own Being. God’s Way does not take anything away from you. The fact that I provide the Focalization on Earth does not detract from you one iota. How many of you would like to undertake to go through this process without any assistance from me? Well your presence here is answer enough.
Then, what is it that you should do? You should recognize that you cannot be something other than you are, and that God is not going to take away from you that which you are. No matter what method you try to use, you could not become, in any sense of Reality, something other than that which you are—and God is not going to take that away from you. You couldn’t be other than that, no matter who was here or who was not here. You couldn’t be happy in being, or trying to be, something other than that which you are in Reality already. Trying to be something other than that only defeats you, and every part needs every other part. I need you, you need me. I need every man, woman and child on the face of the earth, without any exception. From the standpoint of the God Beings involved, they’re doing their part, but human beings haven’t learned to come into alignment with that which God Beings are doing. Once they do, all is well—the rest is so easy, so simple, so beautiful, so wonderful.
And once you begin to work, actually, from the inside out, letting it be God’s action through you, you do not have to meditate upon yourself. If, for the moment, you could imagine that this is not in fact the physical world around us; that anything that we see here is to be seen as symbolizing something else; and, being in this position in the heavenly realm we see this object. We accept that it is there. We do not stop and undertake to meditate to convince ourselves that it is there—we know it is. Do you have to meditate to convince yourself that that glass is there? There is a plant over here by the window. Do you have to meditate on convincing yourself that it’s really a plant? You might, if you were skeptical, go over and touch it to see if it’s an imitation. But it’s a real thing; it’s a living plant; it’s there. And there is no necessity for you to try to meditate to try to convince yourself that it is. You do not have to meditate to convince yourself with respect to anything that you know. Isn’t that right? You do not have to meditate to convince yourself with respect to anything which you know. If I know that this table is here I do not spend the whole hour trying to convince myself that the table is there: [Uranda pounds the table] “I just don't believe it. I don't believe it. I don't believe it. I don't believe it. I don't believe it. I don't believe it. I don't believe it. I don't believe it! It hurts me. It isn't there. Why should it hurt me? It isn't there. Why should it hurt me? Ouch! I don't believe it.” Now that's exactly the way most human beings act, believe it or not. You do not have to convince yourself, through meditation, of the things that you know; and if you know the things of Reality you are not under any necessity of meditating in order to know them, are you? No.
From the standpoint of our ministry on earth, when we work from within outward, we have to meditate upon the uncertain factors with which we are dealing. Can I say, “Well, I know that this member of my Class is going to carry through thus and so, and I can be absolutely certain that he or she will have reached such and such a point by such and such a date?” As yet, you are all question marks, to some degree; all X’s in the formula. Oh, I know what you are inside; that’s not the problem. I know what you are inside, from the standpoint of your God Being, from the standpoint of your Reality. From the standpoint of your true potential, I know what you are; I don’t have to convince myself of that, or try to find out what it is. There’s no problem. But, the question mark is: How well are you going to let that come out? What is there here that I can absolutely depend upon, so that a creative cycle may be initiated, and I can be absolutely sure that it will come out so, because everyone can be trusted, everyone will stay true to the Truth; there will be no reactions, nothing to spoil it; it will all work just the way God intended it to? When we work from within outward, we must meditate upon the things that we cannot say that we know. And can I say that I know just what you’re going to do, when, how? As you learn to maintain polarity and stay steady, I can begin to depend upon you. I have no other choice.
I begin to depend upon you so that you may begin to be a part of the Body—and we open a cycle to carry blessings to others. A certain pressure comes, things begin to move, there is a little power starting to manifest, and then if you give way—well, that’s just too bad. The blessings didn’t get out to those out there. We have to stop and repair the machinery, and start over again. And as long as the machinery keep breaking down, it doesn’t make any difference what God does. The fact that He’s doing something has no meaning on earth. He too must wait while we repair the machinery—get human beings worked out to a point where they’re willing to take some responsibility, hold steady, remain true to the Truth, let the power begin to work, let the pressure begin to come, let the force begin to have meaning, and we begin to move again—and whether we go three inches or five feet or ten miles depends on how well the machinery holds together. If you have ever been driving an automobile and have the experience of having it break down every little ways, or the tires go out, or something, you know how exasperating it can be, always having to fix something. But the LORD is merciful, and patient, and as long as the individual has anything at all to offer in potential, in the outer sense, He keeps the door open for that individual.
And the working of God is from within out. And once we begin to work in the same direction in which God is working!—once we begin to work in the same direction in which God is working—something starts to be what it ought to be. Do not imagine you are so far ahead of God that He’ll never catch up, if you start working in the direction He’s moving. And don’t imagine that you are so far behind God that He’ll never pay any attention. This present moment is the present moment for God too—not just you. This present moment is the present moment for God, for all God Beings, just as surely as it is for you—and once you begin to let it come from within outward you begin to be what you ought to be.
How do you share these things? By reason of their expression through you. If you are going in some other direction, can you begin to share them? No—because you will not be where they are. And how can you begin to share? In giving, in serving, in doing, in action—in action in the Spirit of the Living Christ. You know something about the reality of that Spirit. You do not have to try to get in to find it. It’s there; and you can begin to act in that current and remain true to it—and it’s there. Blessed Ones, God in action on earth through you becomes a reality as you let yourselves begin to truly give, truly serve, in a spirit of true thanksgiving—thanksgiving for the privilege, the opportunity and the responsibility. If you serve to get, you are working contrary to God’s Plan and it doesn’t work. You never get connected up with Him. If you give to get, you’re going in the wrong direction. If you are trying to utilize these opportunities and privileges for some purpose of self-aggrandizement you will fail. Why? Because you are going in the wrong direction—you are trying to move in the opposite direction from God. You are setting yourself up to be as God: to be as great as God, to be as powerful as God, to be as eternal as God, to be as wise as God. You’re going to choose your own course and overcome God so that you can be the god of all the universe. How senseless can human beings get? How foolish?
When you stop trying to work counter to God, and stop excusing any counter-pattern of action, you can begin to move with the Tide of Eternity. You can begin to move with the movement that has been from Eternity and is to Eternity, moving with the Stream of Being in the Currents of Life—and you begin to let the beauty of the Truth manifest in the realm for which you are responsible. You begin to do, and God is in action on earth because you live.
In our Meditation yesterday we were considering the principles involved in letting blessings find expression on earth—of being a blessing to others or conveying blessings to others—the process of attunement—and we began to see something. No doubt your pattern of meditation allowed you to comprehend a good deal more than I presented in words. But you began to realize that this portrayal with respect to Jacob’s Blessing to his Twelve Sons is a portrayal of world history—a portrayal of the vibratory factors working out from the Beginning, from the time that man was created, through the cycle of man’s fall, the outworking of the steps to this present time. And when we come to the end of the Blessing we see two things, revealed by two sons: Joseph, revealing the process which we are sharing at the present time of bringing about the Restoration; and Benjamin, showing the result, the outworking as it applies to the self-active ones in the world. “Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil.”
The outer appearance of things—some going up and some going down, some letting the will of God be done and some refusing—the outer battle; the realm of the self-active ones. And what happens? What happens in them and through them and to them? Here is the picture of world history, and the process of the fall. And we remember that the First Born: “My might, the beginning of my strength.” Where? On earth. Man was the beginning of the manifestation of God’s strength on earth, so that God could begin to do in this realm of things that which was according to Divine Design.
“The excellency of dignity”—Divine Men and Divine Women. The Excellency of Dignity, the Pattern of Nobility which God established for Men and Women, and to which He would return them, for God is not seeking to degrade human beings or make them feel low so that He can thereby feel that much higher. He is under no such necessity. He wills that you should be a Noble Man or a Noble Woman, revealing the Excellency of Dignity, revealing the Beauty of Truth, revealing the Reality of Eternal Life, centered in the Wonder of Everlasting Love.
And so, we are working out to the Restoration, to the Reality of Might, and the Beginning of Strength, and the Excellency of Dignity and the Excellency of Power. That’s what was in the Beginning, and that is our Goal today, that these things of God may be made manifest on earth because we live.
