The Stone Pyramid And The Flesh Body
The Stone Pyramid And The Flesh Body
Martin Exeter May 6, 1984
Those who are now present in this shared heaven of the present moment have brought with them—this is all of you—the substance of your own living. This is factually what you bring. It isn't a concept of the mind, but is a very specific quality of spiritual substance generated by reason of your own living. In this setting now, it is all brought together. If it is of high quality then it easily blends together. Physically speaking it seems that we are separate individuals, but moving to the level of this substance, we have the experience of being one. We are participating in the process of fusion by reason of the action of the spirit.
The holy spirit acts through the substance of the holy ghost. The substance of our living is the ghost substance. To the extent that it is holy, of the true quality, this substance accommodates the holy spirit. The holy ghost is present to the extent that our living has been of this quality, and the substance which we have brought now together in this heaven may to that extent accommodate the holy spirit. The flesh body is permeated by the ghost substance. If that substance is holy then the flesh becomes holy, and we do find ourselves experiencing the fact of being included in one body.
Though it appears that there is separation physically speaking, nevertheless we have an awareness of one body. That awareness comes through the ghost. It does so when the ghost is holy. In actual fact, there are many ghosts, most of them unholy, the world around by reason of human beings. One might say there are national ghosts, racial ghosts, even local ghosts. If it is merely a national or local ghost then it doesn't blend too well. But we have a common denominator here—the holy ghost accommodating the holy spirit, which is the spirit characterizing our living. Is it? If it is, then there is the blended ghost substance within which the Tone sounds, and we hear it.
Any sound requires a medium of propagation. Physical sound, as we may think of it, requires air. Spiritual sound requires ghost substance made holy; then we can begin to hear the Tone of life, and factually the Word begins to be made flesh. The flesh body of the individual is drawn together by reason of the fact of ghost substance—not usually that holy—through which something of the holy spirit can operate. That operation is made evident by what we call life. We all have a sense of being alive, so the ghost substance is still permeating the physical substance of our bodies, and there is something of the holy spirit in action therefore, to the extent that we are at least alive. However, if that substance is holy, if there is a holy ghost, to whatever extent this may be so, then there is the holy spirit in action creating a flesh body.
This body of which I speak is not merely the individual body—we all have individual bodies already—but the collective body being drawn together and activated throughout the body of mankind by reason of the action of the holy spirit, through the extent to which the holy ghost may be present, thereby producing a holy body. We have some consciousness of this production. You cannot define the edges of it, but we have an awareness of the fact of it in our own experience. It extends far and wide throughout the body of mankind, but the periphery cannot be defined. We do not need to. All we require in this moment is our own consciousness of a holy body present by reason of the holy ghost through which the holy spirit acts—it is that action which creates the flesh body, the composite body, the collective body, drawing it together.
This is something that cannot be done by the efforts of human beings. They have tried to organize all kinds of bodies on earth, but usually they have a relatively short lifespan, because they were not organized and drawn together by the holy spirit acting through the holy ghost. There cannot be such action on the part of the holy spirit until there is a holy ghost present in human beings. This relates very specifically to the consciousness of human beings—here is the substance itself. As the consciousness of most is unholy, principally by reason of the hereditary past being carried forward, the holy spirit doesn't have much of a chance. And we have a very distorted body in the world, the body of mankind apparently intent upon self-destruction. One might say this is the normal outcome of a body that is permeated by an unholy ghost. It has happened consistently in the individual sense, and ultimately it must happen in the collective sense in the body of mankind, except as there is a holy body allowed to put in an appearance. It does so because there is a holy ghost, and the holy spirit can therefore act in a holy manner.
The word holy has given trouble to some people because they had some religious concept about holiness in their heads without understanding what the word implies. Ultimately it implies wholeness, being a part of the universal whole, rather than being an extraneous object out to one side trying to do something without regard to the rest of the universe. This is the state of mankind and the state of individual human beings.
They are always commanding that these stones be made bread. Of course this is the fulfilment, presumably, of the physical desires, which includes eating, as well as sex and other such things. There are also those who desire to rise to great heights in the intellectual sense, and it is imagined that through this elevated situation all the difficulties and problems of humankind can somehow be resolved or taken care of: "Just have the intellectual know-how based in the accumulation of knowledge and you will be able to cast that down into the world to save it." What I am speaking of now relates to the so-called temptations in the wilderness. And finally, the attempt to assume the supreme spiritual point through what may be described as human ambition, the desire for power and glory, the desire for earthly rewards of all kinds. There are these three fundamental motivations in human experience, all in one way or another considered to be quite worthy, even commendable.
This is the evidence of the unholy ghost. How much of that unholy ghost still is present in our own experience? How much expectation do we have of filling our own satisfactions, whether physically, mentally, or in the realm of achievement? Do we try to have a life on this basis, where human ambition is considered to be required, natural and necessary? I trust there has been a purifying process occurring in consciousness, so that there might be more experience of the holy ghost, which doesn't require any of these things. It all springs out of the holy spirit. Here is the motivation. Here is the cause for action, which begins to become known to the extent that the holy ghost is present, that the consciousness has been purified and is no longer lusting after these things which are deemed to be required for one's own satisfaction.
One's own satisfaction includes wider fields at times—one must have a setting in which to enjoy one's own satisfactions. So it seems to be in the self-interest to produce a setting in which one may enjoy one's own satisfactions. Whatever the setting may be, all are intent upon squeezing out of it what they can. Here is the human state in which we have all existed, but out of which I trust we may be emerging. This is the case to the extent that the holy ghost puts in an appearance—there is a clarification and a purification in our own consciousness, so that we see the facts as they really are and what it is that human lust and desire in the ordinary way of life produces. It produces the world which we have.
And it is not somebody else's fault. If that is the sort of world we have, we produced it. We are individually responsible for it. And of course we have reached a point, I trust, where we begin to recognize this fact, so that at last there is someone on the face of the earth who is going to take responsibility. The whole attitude and outlook of human beings everywhere is based in this blameful view of their fellows. Finally, however, there are those who are permitting some clarification to come in consciousness, who are beginning to be a little honest at least. That sounds like a put-down, doesn't it? If anyone is put down it's a personal undertaking. We put ourselves down, and all human beings have done this.
Well, we can stop putting ourselves down, and we do it by stopping putting other people down, or trying to do that. We never succeed, by the way; all we succeed in doing is putting ourselves down, because what we tend to see and recognize in other people as being wrong is seen and so recognized by reason of what is in ourselves. We all look out through the lattice. The lattice looms very prominent, and everything that we see beyond the lattice is latticed. It isn't the way things are; it's distorted. But we put the distortion there by reason of the lattice that is in our own hearts and minds.
So the clarification of that must occur if there is to be a holy ghost, and it occurs by reason of the action of the holy spirit through whatever portion of ghost substance is relatively clear. Because this has been going on—it's actually been going on for a couple of thousand years in the ghost substance of the body of mankind—there are those in whom a clarification has finally occurred, rising to the level of conscious awareness. No one can take any particular credit for it. If we do begin to be conscious we can't stand up and say, "I did it," in the human sense. If it was done it was done by reason of the action of the holy spirit. And we begin to become aware of what that action has produced. We may indeed be very thankful that this is so, but we cannot in any sense take credit for it.
So there is an increase in the holiness of the ghost, with a decrease in the unholiness at the same time. But it is by reason of this ghost substance that anybody, any physical form, is produced on earth. We had a certain awareness of this with respect to the individual prenatal development. The first requirement was the generation of this substance, so that subsequently the physical form could begin to take shape in the mother's womb. And so it is with this body of which we are becoming aware by reason of a certain measure of participation in its emergence. We become aware of that, and it's all based in the fact of ghost substance. Unholy bodies, bodies which are not true to the design of reality, are manifold on earth in the experience of human beings everywhere. But there has been one body that has been lacking, and that is the body which puts in an appearance by reason of the holy ghost and the action of the holy spirit through the ghost substance. That is happening. We rejoice. It is taking form.
There is a remarkable symbol of all this, present on earth, in a structure of stone called the Great Pyramid. Mind you, there are some other pyramids around there which are poor imitations, humanly constructed. These pyramids are evidence of the unholy ghost, one might say, while the Great Pyramid is evidence of the holy ghost. It has been a very necessary structure on the face of the earth, lo these thousands of years, in order to provide what might be described as a cosmic focus for the earth itself, the planet, so as to maintain the continuity of a setting on the surface of the planet for mankind, and other forms of life as well which are necessary to the continued existence of mankind. It was important that mankind should be around so that, ultimately, the ghost substance which had been unholy might be purified into a state of holiness, and so the true body of mankind be restored.
The Great Pyramid had a part to play in this. It was constructed for that reason. And incidentally, the way it was constructed was in principle exactly the way this flesh body is now taking form. There have been those who have wondered how this immense structure could have been put together with such accuracy, such exactness. It couldn't have been constructed in this day and age with all the so-called advances that have been made in technology, because it wasn't constructed by technology; not even by slave labor, as is the usual view. How that could ever happen is beyond belief, as far as I'm concerned. It may have been used to build some of the other pyramids, which are poor imitations. But this one?—no. It would require the permeation of the stone by ghost substance, so that spirit might act relative to the physical substance. And while this may project certain speculation into human consciousness, it is quite unnecessary, because I trust the Pyramid itself is becoming quite unnecessary. It becomes unnecessary when there is a holy body of flesh on earth.
This pyramid was a substitute structure provided in the absence of the holy body of flesh. And it has maintained a certain continuity insofar as the planet was concerned, providing a setting for the continued existence of mankind. That is one dispensation, one might say, and on this basis we have the sort of setting and the sort of mankind that we have. That is passing away. That passes away to the extent that there is the flesh body housing the holy ghost, which in turn houses the holy spirit. Then there is a new dispensation, not the dispensation of the Great Pyramid—a structure of stone, well symbolizing the stoniness of human hearts—but now a flesh structure, a living structure capable of restoring life to the planet. One might say the planet has been pretty much in the tomb, just providing bare subsistence to the continued existence of mankind.
Now something new is occurring, something for which there is no precedent to be brought forward out of the past. It is something that has never occurred before. There is a body in the building, and we are aware of this fact. Actually quite a large number of people on earth are aware of this fact without really knowing what it is. They sense something stirring in themselves. They interpret it on the basis of the stony concepts out of the past, and we have all kinds of efforts being made to change things around according to the human concepts. It is all in the process of change.
We don't need to judge anything that is happening. We don't need to look at these things with critical eyes. One has to relinquish critical eyes in order to begin to discern what it is that is really happening, so that the lattice can get out of the way. We have been accustomed to interpreting things in certain ways, and if we keep on interpreting them in those ways we will be sadly deluded, because they are not that way at all. And it is that way of interpreting things that is passing away. The lattice is dissolving.
We rejoice in this hour to participate in a creative process which is a continuous thing because it occurs in the present moment—it's always the present moment, so it's a continuous thing. We participate in this creative process, allowing a larger emergence into our own experience of the action of the holy spirit through the holy ghost in the holy body. Beginning to become conscious, there is nothing more important than that holy body. It ceases to exist if it begins to be filled again with an unholy ghost. The unholy ghost is characterized by a judgmental viewpoint. There is absolutely no need for judgment because things are moving exactly the way they should. It brings up onto the surface things which from the usual human viewpoint could easily be judged as being wrong and destructive and all the rest. But as the distractions of such judgments cease, we find the holy ghost substance building in our own consciousness, and therefore the accommodation of the holy spirit increasing. As that holy spirit acts by reason of the substance of the holy ghost within our own experience, we know what that action is. If there is no substance for that action to occur we don't know what it is. If the substance is unholy we don't know what it is.
The holy ghost is the substance of our consciousness to the extent that the distractions of judgment have ceased. Then there is a clarity, because the lattice that was there before, distorting everything in front of us, has dissolved. The lattice is composed of the distractions of judgment. So let it pass away. And there is no one who can let it pass away but oneself. No one can do it for another. It is something which one has to accept as being necessary for oneself. There is no need to try to satisfy the usual human lusts and desires. There is no need to try to gain some exalted intellectual position, where one could administer the affairs of the planet. Who would be capable of doing that? How ridiculous! And there is no need to try to gain power and glory through human ambition this way and that. All that can go. It's all part of the lattice.
The action of the spirit comes through the holy ghost. Then what needs to be done is done. It's a very creative experience. It's a very fulfilling experience—it brings great satisfaction and joy and understanding. Why settle for anything less? Let us live and bring life to the planet. The Pyramid has been able to maintain a life in the tomb, shall we say, but that was a very small and distorted thing when seen in the light of the truth, the truth that the Word made flesh is capable of bringing life again to the whole planet. The Word of the One who incarnates in this flesh body says, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."
The planet includes mankind; it includes the animal kingdom, the kingdom of vegetation, the mineral kingdom. It is a whole. There is nothing extraneous or separate from the planet. It is a living organism, rightly, and we are here to provide, through this body, the facility by which life is restored to the wholeness of the planet. That's about as far as we need to look at the moment. There's more to it than that, mind you, but that seems enough on one's plate. This is the purpose of the body: that life may again be brought to focus and allowed to permeate the ghost substance of the whole planet, including everything, and therefore the physical substance of the whole planet. Man lives on the surface of a totally living planet—life rightly permeates the whole substance of the planet.
Then we have a totally different state of affairs, as different as the stone pyramid is to this flesh body now taking form. And while the stone pyramid has faithfully played its part in maintaining an open door—by the way, it is the symbol of the LORD, of the One who came and incarnated in the body of Jesus, providing the starting point for this flesh body emerging now—that pyramid has almost done its job and will have no more significance. The significance comes to point in the living form, the living flesh of the Word. We allow the clarification to occur in our living from moment to moment, to the power and the glory of God.
