No More Fear And Unbelief

No  More  Fear  And  Unbelief

Martin Cecil  May 18, 1980  am

Let us give thanks unto the Lord, for He is perfect. Let us say so not only in words but declare it constantly in our attitudes and actions. The spirit of the Lord is strong. There are increasing numbers of those who accept this spirit as their own. There are those who have awakened to the real nature of spiritual responsibility which devolves upon them. “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” If this is so then those who represent Him obviously have a vast responsibility, a responsibility which is actual rather than merely theoretical. The awakening is to this factual experience of responsibility. To accept this in one’s own awareness and experience requires that there should be a dwelling in heaven. Attitudes and actions spring from heaven, rightly. When they do, this is the coming of the kingdom. But it only happens if the heaven of human experience is transformed. Dominion is exercised out of heaven.

The dominion which has been known by human beings has been the dominion of human nature, described rather graphically as the great red dragon, that old serpent, the devil, and satan—these all refer to human nature, which seemingly in some of its aspects is good but in more of them not so good. Here has been the dominion which human beings have known, prevailing on earth for as long as human memory goes back. The dragon has been in heaven, and we amongst others have kept him there. If our behavior is dictated by human nature we have played our part in creating and sustaining the dragon, the devil. Heaven is the place from which dominion extends. The heaven of human experience is not all that heavenly; nevertheless dominion has been extended therefrom, and people everywhere jump to the devil’s command. This has become so habitual that nobody really calls it in question at all. It is supposedly the normal state of human experience.

Finally there are those in increasing numbers who are awakening to the real heaven and the dominion which proceeds therefrom—the heaven of the spirit of God. The heaven that has been known is filled with evil spirits which dominate and control the behavior of human beings. We are very much aware of all this by observation but also from personal experience. The question we may ask of ourselves now is as to how much we have actually awakened to the true heaven of the spirit of God, so that being aligned with the spirit of God in action the dominion of God may extend out of heaven into the earth because we are present. Two of the principal evil spirits which dominate human experience are described by words classifying those who land up in the lake of fire, in the 21st chapter of the Book of Revelation. The first two classes are the fearful and the unbelieving. These words describe characteristics which identify human nature.

Fear is a very dominant control in human experience. There is a certain beneficial blindness which is present in most people, obscuring the reason why they should really be afraid. “Woe to the inhabiters of the earth.” There is a great deal of woe around and no doubt more in the offing, but most people are distracted from seeing what is really happening in the world by various lesser interests. There are a thousand and one distractions served up by human nature which keep people presently from an ultimate panic if it could really be seen what was coming on earth. Some rather troublesome experiences seem to be at hand and visible to most, but still distractions are plentiful, and one can remain easily deceived, which certainly most people are. I do not wish to emphasize particularly ultimate disasters but merely to indicate that while human beings in general are subject to fear, the horrendous happenings that are in the offing have so far been kept under wraps for most. Being subject to fear, however, opens the door for increasing panic on the part of those who have no other awareness than the material happenings on earth. It seems to such that there isn’t any other alternative but to be assailed by all these horrors which become apparent as the efficacy of the distractions wanes. Human beings, self-centered, don’t really see very far beyond their own noses, but even within that range there are troubles.

Turning to the unbelieving—this relates to those who have some vision and are aware in some measure that there might be an alternative, but to those who have this awareness it is largely theoretical. This may have been true, and has been, for most of us. How much awakening has there really been to the factual state of disintegration on the one hand and of integration on the other? Those who have some vision in the matter of integration, the possibility of a new world somehow, usually see it in terms of some sort of imposition, perhaps by cosmic forces. In Christianity the cosmic force is the second coming of Christ, but there are many other ideas as to an anticipated new age. It is mostly imagination—there is unbelief. Those concerned would say they believe in whatever their theory is, but factually it’s unbelief. What is needful only comes when there is the experience of the true heaven, when there is the acceptance of the responsibility for the earth and the world in the name of the Lord.

That’s too much to ask of a mere human being. Of course there are those in high human places who feel themselves responsible, in a way, for the earth and the world, or at least portions of it. But from our standpoint if we cease to be unbelievers we find ourselves naturally with this responsibility now. There is nothing coming other than disaster in the experience of mankind if there are not those present on earth who see and know otherwise. Only as there are those present on earth is the way open for something other than the disaster. The disaster comes inevitably, without those who have taken responsibility for the earth and for the world in a factual way. How much could it be said that this is true of us? Or are we still distracted by all the things that are immediately in our vicinity and sometimes even by the terrors beyond? We hear the story of them over the TV. How much attention is paid to the things that are at hand so that they are allowed to blot out the real responsibility which is present? We do have some immediate environmental responsibilities, but if these are blown up to gigantic size because we are so concerned with them, we see virtually nothing beyond, and we certainly have no part in representing the Lord with respect to the earth and the fulness thereof, the world and they that dwell therein.

This statement is absolutely all-inclusive, isn’t it? It doesn’t exclude the little things which you need to attend to, the little private, personal life you have: “This isn’t the Lord’s, this is mine! This is what I do.” Perhaps some of us have reached a point where we are able to explain this satisfactorily by saying that what we do we are doing for the Lord. That’s a nice thought, but is it actual? Is it in fact what is happening, or are we still subject to a distraction? How great is your awareness of the actual spiritual responsibility that those who come in the name of the Lord carry? That responsibility is the earth and the fulness of it, the world and they that dwell therein—all-inclusive. I rejoice that there are some who are awakening into the actual experience that this is so. I bring it to your attention this morning, that you may take an honest look at it with respect to yourselves. We all need to do this. But there are so many distractions which are considered worthy of our involvement with them, so that we get carried away into the heaven of human nature, where the dragon dwells and where he dictates in fact to us what we do and how we behave.

What factual awareness do you have in your own experience that the earth and the fulness thereof, the world and they that dwell therein, are your responsibility? I venture to say that if you have some ideas on this score they are mostly fantasy rather than being factual, because the dragon is still in his heaven. Maybe we are counted among the unbelievers! We’ve heard about it; we know the theory; we can no doubt spout the principles and prophesy doom—but do we actually know what our responsibility is? What is it that makes that knowing possible? We’ve heard about the first great commandment—that’s familiar to us. They say familiarity breeds contempt. How much real passion do we have for the assumption of our responsibilities in the name of the Lord?—or do we have interests on the side? are we still distracted?—passion for the Lord and for the fulfilment of His purposes on earth by reason of the fact that we come to do it in His name. What is it that is paramount in our own expression of living now?

We come together to present ourselves before the Lord—not merely to do obeisance in His presence but to acknowledge the commission that we have received at His hand and to account for our stewardship. We give account for every idle word, every idle thought, every idle feeling too. What is the nature and the quality of the emotions which are actually experienced? In the experience of our emotions, of our thoughts, of our words, of our actions, we are giving account as to what it is that brought them forth. Every day, every moment, is the Day of Judgment. Whether we realize it or not we proclaim loud and clear what it is that is in our heaven, what it is that determines our behavior. No amount of sweet talk can change that—that’s exactly the way it is, and we do give account moment by moment on the basis of what actually does find expression. If there is a sense of being small and insignificant and of little moment, of little value, then clearly enough Almighty God is not dominant in experience. That would be so, wouldn’t it? What is the nature of one’s own expression in this regard?

We have in times past talked about attitudes of complaint that arise—here is evidence of weakness. People indulge in this stuff quite freely, giving account for what it is that determines their behavior. It’s always clear enough to anyone who is honest. Usually complaints arise in a particular way with respect to close-in relationships. One takes one’s first step always in the closest pattern of relationship. If one finds cause for complaint in one’s situation one will have a roving eye then to see if there wouldn’t be something better someplace else. Let there be some honesty in these things, so that one accepts the situation exactly as it is, and handles it in spiritual expression, which does not assume that someone else is behaving in a way that he or she shouldn’t behave on the basis of one’s own judgment. The capacity to handle the situation the way it is is the evidence of spiritual expression, and is the evidence of the fact that one is moving into position to know the truth of one’s own real responsibility, because you reach the truth of your own real responsibility through the circumstance which is right there with you. If you allow that circumstance to distract you on the basis of judgment, complaint, whatever it is, then you never could possibly experience a comprehension of the reality of responsibility in the name of the Lord, responsibility for the world, for the earth, for everything.

Once one begins to handle one’s circumstances in spiritual expression factually, and not in imagination, then all the fantasies dissolve. One comes down to earth—maybe with a bump. That is helpful in a lot of cases, that one may see the time one has wasted looking at the greener pastures over the fence and ignoring the opportunity that is right there. Emerging the other side of the immediate opportunity there begins to be an awareness of the immensity of the responsibility that is now present, a responsibility that cannot be handled if one cannot handle the little thing that is right there. So all that is taken care of with the greatest of ease in spiritual expression. Let us stop blocking the spirit of God from finding release in the action of one’s own living.

The immediate circumstance is the opportunity to prove capability of functioning in that particular circumstance in the expression of the spirit of God, without any judgment but offering oneself into the situation to provide whatever it is that is necessary there—but not to increase one’s own fulfilment. That is absolutely irrelevant. That is what most people want. They want to have their fulfilment: “Now I don’t have fulfilment in this relationship, I want another.” Well if you don’t have fulfilment in this relationship you won’t have fulfilment in any other. That’s for sure, because you never learned how to handle what’s at hand—you never grew up. So we all have these circumstances. We all have people with whom we are associated in one way or another. How do we handle it? In an attitude of complaint? In the view of the accuser, the great red dragon—in the view of human nature. We are here to handle what is now here effectively, and the moment we begin to do that we awaken to the immensity of our responsibility. That is the door. That is the stone that’s been on the mouth of the sepulcher, so that we couldn’t come out into the Garden and assume adequately what we are here on earth to assume.

“The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” In the Old Testament the idea was to go in and possess the Promised Land. The Israelites were very reluctant to do this. They frittered away forty years before they finally found themselves compelled to go in. What do we do? The Lord takes charge of His earth and His world when there are those present on earth who come in His name. By reason of them, charge is taken. He has charge of everything already—that’s true—but certainly not within the experience of human beings. That’s where we come in, that it may be within the experience of human beings. If it isn’t within the experience of human beings then somewhere along the way there won’t be any human beings to have the experience. We are here to have that experience, because we accept the opportunity that is with us now, that we may come through the door into the awareness of the actual spiritual responsibility that we have in the name of the Lord for the earth and the world. We already have the responsibility but we have the power also to exercise that responsibility. That is factual when we have come through the door, and it is known to be factual increasingly by those who are awakening—suddenly awakening to the fact that here is the kingdom and the power and the glory.

It  is  Here!

But it’s not here for us as long as human nature is in the heaven of our experience. As long as all the factors of our earthly heredity and prior experience are governing the way we behave, we don’t know anything, and we will be counted among the fearful and certainly the unbelieving. The unbelieving are those who do not have the awareness of being present in the name of the Lord, responsible for the earth and the fulness thereof, the world and they that dwell therein. We have that responsibility when the spirit of God is present in our heaven, and our heaven has therefore been transformed. The dragon is no longer capable of determining our behavior on the basis of his ridiculous accusations. We don’t need to accuse anyone—just get the job done. I can’t see any other place that we can get it done than right where we are in the circumstance where we are—can you? Where else can we do it? Oh tomorrow we’ll be somewhere else and it will be much better. Nonsense! It will be worse, unless we accept the opportunity now. Then there begins to be the transformation and we dwell in the heaven where we belong, where the dominion of God is, and our expression in living gives evidence of it.

I thank God for those who are indeed awakening and who have an ever-increasing awareness of the actuality of the dominion of God which is conveyed into the earth by those who come in His name. That is the only way it can be conveyed into human experience. Let us give thanks unto the Lord, for He is perfect. He is perfect! His love and His mercy endure forever. Let us say so, not only in our words but declare it in our attitudes and actions constantly.

Body Of The Living Christ

Body  Of  The  Living  Christ

Uranda   May 14, 1949

I would like, if possible, to help you to a deeper realization of the actuality of the One Christ Body. Intellectually you accept the idea to some degree. You recognize yourselves as members of the Body, or as branches of the Vine, but there needs to come a point of vivid realization, permeating each and every one all the time, that the Body as such is a reality. You may say that the outer responsibility of the creation of that Body rested and does rest with me. I accept that responsibility, and I did accept it or you would not be here. The inner responsibility rests with the LORD of Lords. The responsibility of the responsiveness of the substance rests with you and all who work with you in relationship to that Body.

This Body is being created in the image and likeness of God. Man originally was created in the image and likeness of God so that the reality of God might appear on earth through man. The manifest focalizations of reality in their varying aspects through all the members of the Body have been brought to a degree of focus, making the actuality of the form of a Body. This work has been carried on, first in the darkness of the womb, so to speak, and then in 1946 the birth of the Body became a reality and its development was carried on in the outer sense where it could be seen and recognized by those who had eyes to see. [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/2020/12/virgin-birth-of-christ-body.html]

In Revelation it speaks of the Seven Seals; or, in the physical body, we find that which is so spoken of manifesting as the endocrine gland system, the ductless glands. There are seven of these in the human body. There are Seven Seals spoken of in Revelation. In the Body there are seven focalizations of spirit extending to these seven glands, or Seven Seals. The balanced, mature function of these Seven Seals on what we might call the opened basis—that is, in the range of consciousness and attunement in the Divine Pattern of polarity with God—is just now becoming a reality in the Unit. Now I use this one point as an illustration, not that I intend to go extensively into a discussion of all parts of the Body. This Body is a Body—exactly that—made in the image and likeness of God.

The responsiveness of the individuals involved, the steadfastness of their polarity, determines the effectiveness of the creative processes, because creative force cannot act more effectively than is permitted by the substance utilized in the creative process. Every detail in the Body is important. In your physical body it is so. So also in the Christ Body. If you stop to think about it individually, you will recognize that you would be overwhelmed with the necessity imposed by a commission to go into the world, gather individuals and produce such a Body. I think there needs to be a deeper appreciation of the patient work that has gone into the actual development and making of that Body as a fact, not merely as an allegorical illustration but as a physical fact on earth, fulfilling the requirements, made in the image and likeness of God.

You as yet have comparatively little knowledge of your own positions and places, but that stands as no barrier to your correct function in your places. Too much knowledge along this line, as it has been in the past, would have been a decided barrier, whether you think so or not. Knowledge concerning a certain part, without extending understanding with respect to other parts, would be only a little knowledge, and it would be a dangerous thing. I have had to say something about some of the parts and their functions, and almost invariably speculation has resulted and individuals have started injecting their own self-active concepts into the picture, so that difficulties were increased rather than lessened. The principles involved have been repeated to you often enough: the One Law; fusion in the fire of the Christ Love, which permits the outpouring of the Holy Spirit; letting patience have her perfect work, etc. Unless one appreciates something of the Body, of the wonder of the human body, of the intricate mechanisms and functions in the Body, one cannot truly appreciate that which is involved in creation on earth as the one Christ Body.

Whenever, in the physical body, some portion begins to function contrary to the basic pattern of health, we have sickness. If the cells, in any extreme sense, become self-active we have cancer. There are numerous illustrations possible, but any function, in any organ or in any part of the body, that is contrary to the pattern of health and life in an individual is an illness. It complicates things. It prevents effective or correct function to some degree. The material utilized in the building or the creating of the one Christ Body has had self-consciousness up to a certain point—it has been to a degree self-conscious. If it had been self-conscious in all aspects, it would have been impossible. Most of what has been accomplished has been possible because there has not been too much self-consciousness.

Now the difficulty of creation with self-conscious substance has been that human beings, even after they have been bought with a price, though they belong to the LORD and are not their own, and are dedicated to the ministry of the Third Sacred School—all of this, and yet they have acted as if they had the right to develop ideas according to their own concepts, to more or less do as they please, like children at play. Actually, when we come to the point of dedication to the LORD, we either mean it or we do not. Once there is that recognition that we have been bought with a price in the name of our LORD and through His ministry on earth, any further choice in a self-active sense is a monstrous evil. We either belong to the LORD or we do not. And if we do, we should not talk or think or feel or act as if we do not. If we are His, it is His business to bring about the changes necessary to make possible the true expression of reality for which each one is individually responsible.

When there is a feeling reaction that is contrary to the fact that we belong to the LORD it is an impurity that properly has no part or place in the lifestream of the body. The Body, to fulfil its responsibility, must be vigorous, full of health and life. That health and life that allows fulfilment cannot appear through a diseased body, a body diseased by every sort of self-active reaction and concept and attitude. When something is arbitrarily injected or forced into the mechanism of the Body it is like a splinter or a needle puncture. It produces a wound. Every arbitrarily injected concept produces a wound. Self-wounding is pure foolishness, and yet it has been taking place all through history.

We look back to the time of Elijah, when he stood on Mount Carmel with the prophets of Baal, and we read the record of how they called upon their god, and leapt upon the altar, and cut themselves, and the blood gushed out upon them, and if we stop to think about it, we say, “What foolishness to imagine that such function would impress God!” or, “Can any good result from such function?” We say, “What poor, benighted heathen, living in darkness; what foolishness!” And yet, self-wounding, foolishly and without any gain whatsoever, but all loss, has not been limited to the days of Elijah and the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel. It has continued down to this present day, and has been made manifest here in those within the sound of my voice. Actually it is utter foolishness. It gains absolutely and utterly nothing for the individual or anyone else. It is all loss, and it hinders fulfilment, not only for the individual but for others. Self-wounding of the members of the Body by arbitrarily injecting self-actively devised concepts and ideas and attitudes prevents the full, vigorous function of the Body.

Either we belong to the LORD or we do not. If we say we do but act as if we don't, we make a farce of the matter. God is not mocked, but human beings’ self-activity causes individuals to mock themselves and to make themselves a mockery. Either we belong to the LORD or we do not; and if we do, then there is no more question. Then we are to act and live and think and speak and feel according to that which is the fact, and any other feeling or attitude or idea or expression or act is then a lie.

Concerning the new heaven and the new earth, it is written that “there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth ... or maketh a lie.” As long as feelings or attitudes, thoughts, words or deeds are making a lie, they are preventing true entrance into  the new spiritual consciousness. These are facts. They are true regardless of any idea or concept on anyone's part anywhere. Either we belong to the LORD or we do not. And if we do, then our lives, through thought and word and deed, feeling and attitude, are not glorifying Him if they are expressions of lies, and any feeling or attitude or thought or word or deed that does not recognize the fact that we do belong to the LORD and to Him only is not glorifying Him. We are emissaries of divine light: that name is taken from the Word of our King: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

The daily lives that we live, our thoughts and words and deeds, our feelings, our attitudes, either glorify our Father in heaven or they are lies, one or the other. Could any of you say that you believe that the glory of God has been made manifest here to the fullest extent possible, according to that which has been made possible at this point, or up to this point? I do not think any one of you would dare to say that such is the case. God’s glory could have been made manifest much more fully, much more vibrantly, through you under the circumstances that have existed, with conditions as they have been, with the knowledge that you have had, with you individually as you are, if you had let it be so, if you had let your light shine according to your Declaration of Dedication. [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/2015/12/home-his-temple-on-earth-from-urandas.html]

That is a fact, whether we like to look at it or not. We cannot get away from the fact that it is so. God is glorified when our life expressions are true to the fact that we belong to God. When individually the members stop the foolishness of self-wounding, the healing power of God will manifest much more rapidly. Of what value is it when one wound is healed, or nearly so, and the individual proceeds immediately to make another—one wound right after another, so that the individual can be given treatment, or doctored, or allowed certain privileges? What is gained? Nothing! It is better to be well. It is better to be strong. It is better to be vigorous. It is better to be about our Father's business. We cannot excuse ourselves by saying that we knew no better, or by declaring before the judgment bar of God that we were merely poor, benighted heathens, doing the best we could, leaping upon the altar, slashing ourselves. What foolishness!

This Body, the Body of the Living Christ, is a real Body, having its parts and members. I have mentioned specifically the Seven Seals, the seven endocrine glands of the body. They are vitally important to the health and growth of the body, but the body is more than its glands. If the Seven Seals are opened there is opportunity for the fulness of illumination throughout the Whole Body. Human beings have wasted a great deal of time and energy trying to open the Seven Seals in themselves by manipulations or exercises mentally or physically, or some other way. The only way the Seven Seals can be opened is through the Spirit of the Living Christ. In this Body, whether the whole body will let it have meaning or not, the Seals, or glands, have been established in their places and to whatever degree may be now necessary they have been opened, not that all the Seven Seals had to be opened by this time in any one individual, but in the one Christ Body they have been opened, and that has meaning for those who let go.

That does not mean that the human minds of all of you have to understand all there is to know about the Seven Seals, or that you have to know who carries the focalizations of the Seven Seals. You do not need to know. Knowing in the conscious mind would not accomplish anything in helping you along the Way. And if there be any self-activity it would hinder you. The fact is that when each one responds properly, according to his or her own polarity, and remains true to his or her dedication, creative currents are at work through the individual whether he knows it or not. The individual does not need to know all that is accomplished through him. All he needs to know is made available for him to know: the reality of polarity, for which he is responsible, and the external functions necessary to his participation in daily life.

I think that each one here would be ready to acknowledge that in the past few years enough truth has been given in the current of Divine Love so that if it all had been accepted and truly assimilated and truly lived by, we would be further along than we are. My point, then, is that that which has been needful, the provision of the LORD, has been available and made manifest, though it has not been fully received and completely utilized. When it is realized that this work of creating the one Christ Body is a delicate operation, and all the parts have to be coordinated and in their places and function according to their particular calling, it will be seen that what we have done and are doing has vital meaning.

Some may say, “How am I to function in my place if I don't know what it is?” I have had many individuals ask me as to their place so they could function in it. If you have to know what your place is to function in it you are not ready to know anything about it. If you did know anything about it you would probably complicate matters. All that is required of you is that you be obedient to the One Law, that you maintain correct polarity, that you stop idolatry and worship the One God and Him only, and in such love response let go to the workings of His Spirit through you. That one thing—correct polarity regardless of anything else, regardless of who does what or of what takes place in the world—is the one thing required, and the rest is taken care of by a higher intelligence than the human. Gradually, as you begin to function in your polarity, truly, consistently, you begin to know something about your place; but if when you begin to know something about it you try to function in it according to some self-active concept, you spoil it. You cannot be given full knowledge concerning your place all at once. It must be a gradual process, and if when the process begins, so that you begin to have a little knowledge, you start trying to use it according to your own concepts, you are thereby eating of the forbidden fruit, and that brings death.

The polarity must hold while the process of expansion takes place, so that in season you may see and know and understand all things needful. In the human body, is it your mind that tells the heart to beat? Do you think every time you draw a breath? Is it your thoughts that cause digestion to take place, or determine the number of red blood corpuscles in your bloodstream? Is it the wisdom of your human mind that determines the operation of the spleen? What do you know of the pancreas or the islets of Langerhans? I could go on and on and on, and you would have to admit, at every step of the way, that it is not your human mind that causes all these things to work in your body. So also in the Christ Body. Your human intelligence, pygmy thing that it is, is not required to know and understand the influences of the seven glands, the ductless glands. Your mind, in the human sense, is utterly incapable of even comprehending it, let alone directing it.

What is required of you? That you be obedient to the Law, all of it, regardless of anything else, that you remember that you are not your own but that you have been bought with a price, and that price is big enough already without your prolonging it or being stubborn or perverse or something else. Some people say, “I try so hard to let go to God.” Actually, in the final analysis, that is nonsense, ridiculous nonsense. Why should anyone have to try so hard to let go? That is the foolishness of the human mind. Do you belong to God? Do you acknowledge it? Then act like it, and you have let go. If you declare that you belong to God on the one hand and act like you belong to yourself on the other, and say that you try to let go, it is nonsense, childishness, foolishness. Either we do or we do not. We know that we do belong to God and are therefore without excuse, and since we know we do, all we have to do is act like it in feeling attitude, thought, word and deed. Then we have let go. Then we are obedient to the Law. Then God can do the works, and His Spirit working through the individual can bring forth into manifestation all those things needful to the working of His Kingdom on earth. [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/2019/09/the-incarna-tion-of-spirit-martin-cecil.html]

This mention of the Christ Body is not merely an allegorical illustration, a symbol. It is a Body. It is being built with precision, with exactness, not to be a dead form, but to be a living thing. And that work of creation can go forward no faster than the responsiveness of the substance of the Body permits. Yes, the one Christ Body is a reality, and it is a Body, a Body in fact, here and now. How does it work? When you can tell me how your own body works, when you can answer my questions concerning your own body, then I will tell you how the Christ Body works. How does the Body work? As far as the human conscious mind is concerned, by obedience to the Law; for as long as self-active function remains, or eating of the forbidden fruit, trying to run God's business, there will be failure. As long as there is idolatry there cannot be victory.

God does not require you to understand all the mechanisms and intricate functionings and workings of even your own body, let alone the one Christ Body. All He asks is that you recognize the Law and remain obedient thereto all the time, and He will do the rest. Is that so difficult a requirement? I think not. When you let the Father do the works, then something real is done, something worthwhile is accomplished. If the Lord is not the one who builds the house, they labor in vain who build it.

And so tonight, if I have helped you to a realization of the reality of the Body as such, and to a deeper realization of the absolute necessity of obedience to the Law and of living in recognition of our dedication to God, then my words have accomplished that whereunto they are sent and they shall not return unto me void, for these words have I spoken in the name of our LORD and KING.

This is the Real World—Enfoldment and Encompassment

This  is  the  Real  World

Martin Cecil  May 5, 1980  Assembly

How much are we capable of enfolding and encompassing? When we graduate from school, spiritual school, we become responsible in a real world. In that world there are a lot of unreal people. We're not too interested in the school from which we graduated. I don't think even in the human world, after leaving school, one drags the school around with one, trying to tell everybody about it. Graduating from spiritual school, we have assumed a certain maturity of responsibility which is our own, individually speaking. Of course at this point we are aware of the whole, of the fact that our individual expression, while it must stand because it is the expression of truth, is also an aspect of a far greater truth. We are a part of that far greater truth to the extent that our expression is true—that we are mature enough to be spiritually responsible for ourselves. That doesn't take us into a position of isolation. It offers connection with the far greater truth of which our individual truth is simply an aspect.

We have a field of enfoldment and encompassment, immediately available to us as we assume our mature spiritual responsibilities in the individual sense. Mention is made in the Book of Revelation about the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven. I am sure you all recognize that this is the true state of spiritual consciousness, a new state insofar as human experience is concerned, which comes down from God out of heaven. Later, with respect to this holy city, there is indication that nothing should enter into it that defiles or whatsoever worketh abomination or makes a lie. In our own living, here is the holy place in which we abide. We find that there are others who abide in that holy place with us, so it is not merely an individual thing. Here is something coming down from God out of heaven and factually emerging on earth, because of us and all those who provide the means by which it may so emerge—a holy place into which nothing that does not belong may enter in.

Now we may see this, first of all, as a personal state for which we individually are responsible within ourselves. And we also see it as a collective state for which we are individually responsible too, that nothing should enter into that collective of the holy place. Only as there is such a holy place can there be the factual reality of the Priesthood on earth. This is the basis for the enfoldment, and beyond that again the encompassment, which is our primary responsibility in the real world. All that does not belong in the holy place is excluded. But let us not merely look at it in a negative way, because then it would be entirely empty, wouldn't it? It wouldn't stay empty long; nature abhors a vacuum. It is a matter of letting it be filled with the real quality of spirit, consequent upon our own living experience.

But our concern is with this matter of enfoldment. We have individual spheres of enfoldment, which are, of course, at the same time included in the collective sphere of enfoldment. We never try to lift our individual spheres of enfoldment out of the whole, because immediately we would lose the reality of that enfoldment. We would lose our association with the holy place. So we extend an enfoldment to those who are beginning to see the light—we could put it that way. They only begin to see the light because of our expression of the spirit of God, individually and together, moving upon the face of the waters that are present in the consciousness of mankind, and out of that consciousness will come certain individual focalizations in response. These are those in whom the light is beginning to shine, so that they begin to see some more and understand more of the quality of life—and these require enfoldment.

The enfoldment is beyond the holy place, insofar as we are concerned, because obviously anyone coming will have those things that don't belong in the holy place. Therefore you cannot willy‑nilly invite anyone into the holy place who gives some evidence of experiencing an increase of light in their own consciousness. So here is a realm of enfoldment beyond the holy place. We have described this in terms of the outer court and the encampment. But we see this realm of enfoldment and keep it clear as there are those who are welcomed into it. [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/2019/01/through-gates-of-praise-from-outer.html]

Within this realm of enfoldment there is rest. I suppose this is the first matter that emphasizes itself to a person. Maybe it did to us—at last we're home, so to speak; a feeling of rest. As the Master put it, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” So there is a place of rest, where the turmoil may begin to drain away out of people. It is also a place of safety, where there is a sense of being protected. It is our responsibility to provide this. It is also a place of education. “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me.” All right, education. This is the nature of the place of enfoldment which we rightly provide. Are we going to say that this place of enfoldment is a very restricted place, into which only two or three people can fit? Or do we recognize the reality of it, which is vastly more than the holy place?

The holy place is, in this sense, a small place—there are not too many who are capable of functioning as the Priesthood in the holy place, who are capable, individually speaking, of maintaining that holy place in their own experience, never allowing anything that defiles or works abomination or makes a lie to enter in. Only those who are of the Priesthood are in the holy place. When there are those, and the holy place is present because of them, then the influence of that extends on out in enfoldment of others. And we have a place beyond us that is far more capable of including people than, presently, is the holy place.

If we use the symbolism of the encampment, well that's a big place, lots of room. We need to have this attitude, that there may be no exclusion of any point of light that begins to emerge because the spirit which we have been offering in our living has been moving upon the face of the waters of humanity. All right, humanity is spread around; there are quite a few of them out there. Are we going to say well, we'll take a dozen? Or is it going to be open.

We are capable individually and together of providing this large place of enfoldment. Perhaps it needs to be larger than it has been thus far. And it isn't the place of enfoldment with anticipation that those who are so enfolded are going to become hooked up somehow with EDL. 'Emissaries of Divine Light' is the name of a college from which we have graduated into the real world. While we may have some college reunions on occasion, we are really about the Father's business in the world. And we are introducing people to that on the basis of invitation to the place of enfoldment. There are those who come in, and there is work to be done relative to those we enfold. Obviously there is the general pattern of rest which is offered, the provision of the sense of protection and safety, and then education. This education doesn't merely relate to what we have thought of as spiritual education in the orthodox Emissary sense: “Well, people must be brought to Class,” and so on. It isn't necessarily that at all. There is a far wider field of education than that. This [Emissary spiritual education] is specialized education with respect to those who may, if they will, be included in the Priesthood, to stand in the holy place. But the vast majority don't, or won't.

And yet there is something of education needful—a reconditioning of consciousness, to begin with. There are various means of providing this—enfolding them where they are, letting people alone, not trying to make them into something that we think would be better, but letting people alone. Let them be enfolded. There are various classifications of people who more easily relate to this area or that area. There are other gatherings we have, of many kinds. And there will be increasing numbers—if we are doing our job—wholistic gatherings, considerations in various fields, into which people may be invited and in which they may be enfolded. On this basis there is a beginning made with respect to a reconditioning of consciousness.

Some changes may be wrought, so that those concerned may feel more at home in the encampment than they did where they were before they became aware of the fact that there was an encampment. If we play our parts correctly they will have a sense of enfoldment; they will have the increasing experience of rest initially, a sense of protection, and begin to actually experience education without maybe telling them so. As long as we experience the reality, do we need to be told that we are experiencing it? Probably if we were told we would set up a resistance against it. That's the way human nature is. So we let it be, not a con game—not an Emissary con game—but the provision of what is necessary to allow some things to happen in people, about which they may not know is occurring. But they will only occur to the extent that those concerned are open to let it occur. It's not being imposed. If they are open to receive it they will receive it; if they're not they won't. So there is the enfoldment.

And beyond that again there is encompassment—the encompassment of everything, of all humanity, indeed of the world. It is all‑inclusive. We have our points of contact which increasingly enable a greater effectiveness in that encompassment. It has been, evidently, sufficiently effective thus far to prevent some final disaster from striking. But as it all intensifies there will need to be a greater control extended in a more specific way. It might be said that this encompassment could be compared to casting a net over the world, a net of control and containment, dominion and containment. The net is composed of interlocking meshes which relate to people.

We find ourselves associated with people who have, in one way or another, connections into the state of the tribes of the earth beyond the encampment. Usually these connections are those who come into the encampment, who participate in the enfoldment, and through them there may be an extension of the net of encompassment. We need to be alert in this regard, so that we do not take arbitrary Emissary attitudes with respect to anyone, thereby excluding that person from enfoldment. We see the value of people by reason of their associations. If such people are open to enfoldment, so that they come closer, then through such people we can reach what is beyond.

There are already the beginnings of such a network in various fields with which I am familiar—far more than even those who are the points of connection understand or see. We need to be aware that this is an open‑ended process. We think of things as being small because they are close, but it is through these apparently small things that the larger things are encompassed and the dominion of God begins to be an increasing reality on earth, regardless of the thrashings around of the dragon, regardless of the human‑nature state which still seeks to govern out there.

Here we have a consciousness of ministry which transcends, I am sure, the usual Emissary viewpoint, because it begins to become no longer an illusion, but the actuality. The actuality is related to people—and what we extend as enfoldment and encompassment is not some little viewpoint as a cult on earth. This is the real thing, and we reach a point of actually being willing to acknowledge this. There has been a hesitancy to acknowledge this, and the endeavour to maintain a cult, because it felt safer. But to really reach out—that is what is required!

Enfoldment  and  Encompassment

Martin Cecil  May 6 1980  Assembly

No matter what field you might be considering these fields all blend together by reason of the spirit of God, the spirit in which they are considered. Whether it’s economics or race, living within one’s means or finding proper relationships with others, it all involves the same basic requirements spiritually speaking. The same principles are at work regardless of what it is one may consider. There is only one approach which can handle all that needs to be handled—the approach of spiritual expression. Those words haven’t always revealed the truth in the consciousness of those who have used them. But in actual experience we begin to find more and more that no matter what it is that needs to be handled it can easily be done on the basis of spiritual expression, because we have a certain experience of this ourselves.

There is the necessity of allowing a blending to take place in the whole design of humanity. Circumstances the way they are are the ones we have to handle; the world is the way it is and we accept it that way. Maybe the information to consider the way we think it should be might develop some ideas as to what the true state was, out of which we have fallen, presumably with the thought that we might be able to scramble back—but that wouldn’t work, obviously. Things are in such a mixed-up state now in the world, there is only one way to go, and that is to accept the way things are and let the spirit of God go to work so that what needs to born out of this can be. The efforts that are put forward to establish racial harmony, for instance, or economic stability, are all futile. The only way we can go is on the basis of spirit. And how thankful we may be that this has become apparent to us. It is becoming apparent to more in the world these days—but the vast majority have no idea, and so they ride off in all directions, trying to solve the world’s problems and only making things worse. There isn’t anyone who doesn’t imagine that what he proposes is right, is good. We don’t propose anything other than our own expression of life, taking responsibility for ourselves.

Our positioning in this whole world of effects is in what we may describe as the Holy Place, the Core positioning—because unless there are those found in this Core positioning the world is left without any expectation other than total disintegration. There must be a true point of orientation and unification if the inherent oneness of mankind is to be restored. So we see the way to go and we begin to assume increasingly the responsibility which places us in the holy place. All that is needful springs from the holy place. Here is the true point of orientation and here is the means of unification. The holy place has been absent from human experience simply because there hasn’t been anyone present in it. It’s not that the holy place has gone anywhere, but that it was uninhabited. Now we approach the holy place to dwell there. But we can’t dwell there until in our own personal experience nothing that defiles or works abomination or makes a lie can enter into our own experience of living, what springs forth from ourselves in our particular circumstances. If the circumstances have power to violate the holy place it is because we let them do so. They do not have any power of themselves to do it. We simply have opened our hearts to that experience, if it happens. There is no one else responsible but us. While we have known this in theory for a long time, there’s always, I think, the niggling thought in the back of people’s minds that it really wasn’t entirely one’s own responsibility, that someone else could be found somewhere who was to blame when things didn’t work the way they should. But it’s not true—that’s a lie getting into the holy place, isn’t it? So we harbor no excuses, and consequently we begin to establish a state of experience where there is a holy place for us, and we are present in it.

Out of this holy place comes the enfoldment of those who represent, individually, the face of the waters of the consciousness of mankind. And as we are in the holy place, the spirit of God is our expression, so the spirit of God moves upon the face of the waters and light begins to be the experience of those who are moving toward inclusion in our enfoldment. This is an inevitable happening once there is an inhabited holy place of sufficient consistency and occupied by an adequate crew of Priests and Priestesses, to be always there. So the next requirement, from the standpoint of those who are present in the holy place, those who are charged with the responsibility of spiritual government therefore, is the matter of enfoldment—the enfoldment of those in whom the light is beginning to shine. Not merely those who are momentarily reflecting the light which we ourselves may be shining. We need to begin to discern the distinction here. There are those who are delighted to bask momentarily in your light and they may give you a warm feeling of response, but let them get out of your presence and they’ll betray you instantly, because it is only a momentarily reflection of the light that was present in you. And when they get away from that—they are reflectors—whatever they’re up against next, they’ll reflect that. We find a lot of people who are completely untrustworthy in consequence, because of their reflector stance. So let’s not be fooled by such people when they come into our vicinity, who will tell very quickly what the fact is when they go out of our vicinity. But there are those in whom the light is beginning to shine, their own light, so that while it may brighten when they come into our presence—that is, if we are letting our light shine—it will still be there when they move somewhere else. And it is these whom we enfold. It is these who are included in the encampment, seeing that as a way of distinguishing between those in whom the light is not shining and these in whom it is shining.

There is the encampment, and all those who come into it we enfold. There are those beyond the encampment, and all these we encompass. Now I am just using these words in an arbitrary way so as to indicate a distinction here. Mind you, we encompass those whom we enfold, too. But we don’t enfold everybody. We encompass everybody so that they are contained in our field of spiritual responsibility in representation of the Lord as we stand in the holy place, but the ones with whom we work immediately are those who are within the range of enfoldment. So those who are present in the holy place are those who are trustworthy and who have not maintained any of the structured views—no matter how good—but are flexible and quite capable of accommodating the spirit of God as it emerges into expression, whatever form it may take.

Now, we may see here that there are some racial implications here, because of the difference in genes, not only from the standpoint of being of a certain race but from the standpoint of what the pattern is within the race. There is a vast variety here. Obviously this is the state of affairs as it is and this provides the only means by which the spirit of God can find expression. Well this is true of us, if we aspire to stand in the holy place. It doesn’t change the earthly heredity in an instant; it’s still there. So there is some value to the fact that it is still there, because it is the only means that the spirit of God has to use in the expression of what is required, first of all from the standpoint of enfoldment and also from the standpoint of encompassment. We can obviously see some uses here, because it connects us up with all kinds of other people. Whether we like the idea or not, it’s a fact.

Government from the holy place is all based in the working of the One Law, and therefore the right expression is absolutely essential if there are to be those who stand in the holy place and who therefore provide the essential government. Perhaps you can recognize, see the implication anyway, that government is quite easy. It’s not by the sweat of the face anymore. One is dealing with essences, vibrational essences, in the holy place. One is not a blacksmith in the holy place, wielding a hammer, striking the iron on the anvil. It’s not that sort of a state. Here is the point of stillness—stillness from the standpoint of intense external activity, but that appearance of stillness is filled with activity in fact, the activity essential to the right handling of vibrational essences. So there is no government until there are those who are present in the holy place. They can’t get into the holy place in the first place as long as there is anything that defiles or works abomination or makes a lie, so it’s very selective. But when there are those who are in the holy place there is the basis for true government.

We may again be reminded of the Master’s words recorded for us: “Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, I will give you rest.” These indicate an invitation into the realm of enfoldment, out of the area of mere encompassment into the realm of both encompassment and enfoldment. He said, “Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” He also said, “For I am meek and lowly in heart.” Here is the natural experience of humility which characterizes those who stand in the holy place: “I am meek and lowly in heart.” That influence of humility is part of what is extended in the enfoldment. We don’t enfold people in arrogance; we enfold them in the spirit of humility, that they may participate in that attitude of humility. There is enfoldment so that there may be the provision of what is needful from the standpoint of education and training. Now as with all education and training, the spiritual education of our classes and so on, it is for some purpose—one graduates somewhere along the way and allows the education to be a practical expression in one’s own living.

This is the easy yoke. “Yoke” indicates a close association at least. First of all the association with God, from the human standpoint. What is the creative cycle? Radiation, response, attraction, union. Here is the yoke being experienced, the easy yoke being experienced. It is an easy yoke.  My yoke is easy, my burden is delight. We’re delighted. It is a delightful experience. So the area of enfoldment for which those who stand in the holy place are responsible includes education and training. It isn’t information that’s needed; it is the training that may be helpful in releasing the fuller experience of the spirit of God in expression, because anything that is to happen must happen on this basis and not because the human mind gets a lot of information and says, “Ah, now I understand this. Now I’ll really go to work.” Oh no; it wouldn’t work. The only way it works is when the spirit of God is in expression. So the basic training relates to this matter of gaining a greater experience of that expression. And the only place where we can gain this experience is in our daily living.
