I Of My Human Self Can Do Nothing
I Of My Human Self Can Do Nothing
Martin Cecil April 10, 1979 Assembly
Can you stand silence? Human nature usually feels quite uncomfortable. I am sure we all are very much aware that one has no freedom to do as one pleases in the state of human nature. We are interested in being Man, male and female, in which case human nature as it has been known in our experience must go. We cannot speak the words “Let us make Man” without first being Man. Let us be reminded that Man was created as a spiritual being with human form—this is where the human being comes in. “Let us make Man in our image, after our likeness.” Not the likeness of something merely human but the likeness as it is present in spirit. In the human sense there is no freedom to do anything, to be anything, to achieve anything. How much human nature is there still present in our own experience? Is there pride and self-satisfaction with respect to any so-called human abilities? As long as there is, human nature is not only present but dominant—still there is the sense of worth based in externals, based in human abilities. As long as that is there, there is what is called competition, there is envy, and there is jealousy. Sometimes such traits are described in acceptable terms, but as long as there is a promotion of human ability as though this was most important, human nature is dominating, regardless of any concept that a person may have about angelic nature.
The true nature of Man is spiritual. Human abilities of themselves are worthless and should be allowed to recede into the absolute background if a person is ever to become aware of the reality of angelic nature. There may be a great deal of self-delusion in this matter, where because a person is fairly bright in human nature he imagines that that is angelic nature. Angelic nature is known in the expression of spirit. What the spirit will bring forth remains to be seen. Obviously something has been brought forth in human nature which is not a true expression of Man. Man is not present—so what is considered to be valuable from the human nature standpoint of human ability is not the genuine article. The angel is capable of using anything, but the angel has to use it for it to be worth anything. The angel will never be allowed to use human abilities as long as the human abilities are looked upon as being the important thing. We may say of someone, “He’s a very capable person.” There are lots of capable people in the world. The world has not been saved by capable people; the world is in the process of being destroyed by capable people. If we subscribe to this idea of the tremendous value of capable people we will participate in the destruction of the world.
It is something entirely different. The words have been repeated, “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard.” These are very accurate words insofar as the true expression of man is concerned. It is a completely unknown quantity, even to all of us. Let us not delude ourselves into imagining that because we have certain abilities, and because we have been handling certain things that we have deemed to be spiritual, we therefore know the reality of Man—we do not. Human nature is still present and very largely dominant. In human nature, which is present and very largely dominant, we have rightly no freedom to do as we please, no freedom at all to do as we please. When human nature looks at a statement such as that, it imagines that life will become a desert. “Nothing will be worthwhile anymore, because it won’t be pleasing me anymore.” That’s it, exactly: Nothing will be worthwhile to human nature. Do you care? No doubt we will find out. But you know, if you are honest with yourselves, that a great deal of your doing is designed to please yourself. I emphasize this not in condemnation of anyone but in order that we may bring out the fact of the matter—and not fool ourselves anymore. I don’t know whether we could put it in terms of percentages, but I think it is well over fifty percent, that there is an endeavor to please oneself, perhaps not so blatantly as you can observe human beings elsewhere pleasing themselves—maybe it is more subtle.
Man is to be created. Not a creation of almost-man, but with pockets of human nature reserved, where the approach is to please oneself. Because human nature has been present, and still is largely dominant, humanly speaking there is the need for a great humility, to enter humbly into the Secret Place, acknowledging the fact that human nature has been very much present—and still is to a large extent dominant. We cannot experience the reality of Man as long as we fool ourselves. Often the attitude is taken that one is making progress, and we may perhaps even look at someone else and say, “They have certainly made some progress; there have been some real changes occurring there.” But do you think that human nature has anywhere near been dissolved yet in our own experience?
I do not wish to emphasize human nature. All I am concerned with is that we should be honest about it. Our concern is to emphasize the expression of spirit—the spirit of the living God. But as long as we give weight to our abilities in the human sense, no matter what those abilities are, and in whatever fields, we will tend to require the spirit to operate relative to those abilities. We will keep pushing our abilities in front of the expression of the spirit, and taking the attitude that if the spirit is to express, it must make use of these valuable abilities. In other words, we have the weight there, in the abilities, and not in the spirit. The spirit can use anything to advantage when allowed to do so, but if we only allow spirit to express in a pre-structured way, because of our pre-established abilities in the human sense, spirit can never find the freedom of expression that is essential to our creative purpose. The spirit of God must find expression on earth through the consciousness of human beings who are no longer pre-structuring what is to find expression.
This spirit is One Spirit, coming to focus at One Point for the purpose of being differentiated in the vast variety of individual expression—angelic expression, not human nature expression—but what that is is unknown as long as weight is being given to the elements of human nature. Pride and self-satisfaction are present in human beings, even in you—pride and self-satisfaction in your human abilities. The human abilities are inclined to preen themselves and to take the attitude at times that they are not being made use of adequately.
This has occurred within the range of our ministry, hasn’t it? “I am being frustrated, being prevented from allowing my abilities to be used as they should be used.” Such an attitude is pride and self-satisfaction. “Look at my abilities! The Lord should be using them. They’re really worth something. They carry weight, they mean something.” And so the attempt is made to impose them upon the Lord. The individual is saying, “If I’m going to achieve anything”—and this is human nature speaking—“if I’m going to achieve anything, it must be according to the abilities which I have determined for myself are valuable.” How would it be if all of them were just ditched? Would you be there still? Now that’s a question! We would answer it, I am sure, with a great flourish of theory, “Of course! The angel is always there.” Who is the angel? Could it be said of us, even, that we have been maintaining angels unawares, because we put this great big fat human ability in front of everything? And then the individual who considers that he doesn’t have very much ability looks at all these fat ability-egos around and says, “Well what can I do?” In other words, he puts just as much weight in the fat human abilities as the people who think that they have them put in them. Everybody is hung up on this.
There is spirit, and if Man is to be created, the creation is by spirit. And it will not include the qualities and characteristics of human nature. “Well, if we didn’t have all these qualities and characteristics, what would we be? There would be nothing here!” Oh? Well, that’s where you put your weight then, isn’t it? That is what you suppose is the truth of the matter, regardless of any theorizing. To what extent are we aware of the fact that all things are to be made new? These words glibly fall out of the human mouth, but what do they mean?
In the passage from Revelation preceding this matter of making all things new, there was indication of the passing of the old—all the things with which human nature is familiar. The great abilities of human nature—I see them still paraded around a good deal. Ultimately we come to the point of acknowledging that nobody knows nothin’. There is great trepidation on the part of human nature to really accept the fact, and to approach the experience of the fact, because it requires the dissolution of what the individual has imagined himself to be—even with respect to all the spiritual progress that is supposed to have been made. Could that be relinquished? Behold, I make all things new. “Oh surely we’ve been participating in this process of letting all things be made new. There have been some changes that have worked out. We’re not the same as we were last year, or certainly not the same as we were ten years ago.” Well, who is?
We are here to be Man, and we don’t know what that is. There is only one way to find out, and that is to let the spirit of God create. To know what the spirit of God is in actual fact requires that the quality and the character of that spirit be present, in focus, so that it may be differentiated. In my own expression I have the responsibility of differentiating that spirit in a certain way which acquaints you with that spirit which is to be differentiated by you in a certain way. This is not a matter of trying to imitate me, certainly. There are those who have tried that with respect to me. We don’t want any imitations. We want the genuine article—the spirit of God in actual, absolute expression, through each one. This is the differentiation of the One Spirit—but there is One Spirit. And you cannot decide that you are going to differentiate it on the basis of your human abilities. It has nothing to do with your human abilities. The expression of spirit is of its own nature. And your human consciousness is not here to color and condition it according to what has been accepted in human nature as carrying weight. What is accepted in that way is the ability that the individual thinks he has. “Well if the Lord is going to accomplish anything through me He’s got to use my abilities.” Are you going to put the Lord on the spot, saying that He must do something the way you think He should? Our abilities, our human nature structures, carry no weight whatsoever insofar as the Lord is concerned. It is all part of this immense human structure that has been built on earth, this tower of Babel, which is absolutely meaningless insofar as the Lord is concerned.
Do you see that you still are inclined to insist that the Lord do what He is going to do by reason of your human abilities? That means that human nature is still dominant. Human nature is telling the Lord how to behave, how to act, how to accomplish whatever it is that is to be accomplished. Human nature may admit that it doesn’t really know what should be done or how it should be done, but “the Lord will do it, but only by using my abilities.” This is the state of affairs that has been prevalent in the experience of everyone—in varying degrees perhaps, but human nature has been there, the human ego has been there.
“Gird up now thy loins like a man,” or a woman. “Well, how can I do that? I don’t know what a Man or a Woman is.” Good! This might be said to be progress. How is it going to be possible to do it? “By my spirit, saith the Lord”—only that way. When, as human beings, we acknowledge the absolute rot and corruption of human nature with all its vaunted abilities, there is a state of humility experienced, which allows a person to come into the Secret Place, the Holy Place. “Enter into thy closet, and shut the door, and pray to thy Father which is in secret.” We have become aware of the awful arrogance that has been taken for granted in human nature with respect to human ability and how we have indeed taken the name of the Lord in vain by saying in effect, “Come, Lord, you express through me just the way I am. Make use of my human abilities.” And probably the idea is present in human nature that it knows how those abilities might be used to better advantage. “But the Lord doesn’t let me do it!”
I am not the least interested in putting human abilities to work—supposedly for the Lord—if by doing it it is going to perpetuate a nonsensical human ego. In making Man, human nature must be dissolved. And so we are considering human nature and recognizing its presence, and seeing clearly that it must be dissolved. As long as we fool ourselves into imagining that our human nature is angelic nature—“After all, we have made so much progress as we have come along the way; we have made so many changes that this human nature is really angelic nature now. Isn’t that nice?” But it isn’t. It is still human nature.
We at least, presumably, have an awareness of what constitutes the genuine, even though we may not have all that much experience of it. We have that much advantage—the willingness to let our treasure be in heaven, no longer in earth, not even in the highest pinnacle of the temple in earth. I am sure you know, in theory at least, that human nature is not here to be pleased. We are not moving in a creative cycle that is going to satisfy human nature. I wonder how much expectation there is in this regard. “My human likes, my human desires, are going to be satisfied by paying attention to spiritual things.” This is the attitude that vast numbers of people have when they turn to spiritual things. They may not recognize it for what it is, but that is exactly what it is: the endeavor to satisfy human nature, to make it comfortable, to make it happy, to make it feel that it is really achieving something. If one can provide a program in the world the way it is that achieves these ends, you will have a tremendous following. Everybody wants their human nature to be pandered to, to be satisfied, to make it feel that it is worthwhile somehow. If the truth is presented, then not too many people are interested.
I praise the Lord that, in spite of human nature, you and a number of others have continued to evince interest even though nothing was being offered to satisfy your human egos. However, there has been a little something going on, on the side, which has been designed to find ways and means of satisfying the human ego, of making human nature feel more comfortable, and even making it feel it’s really achieving something now. After all, we have reached a point where we are saying, “Let us make Man.” Do you think human nature is going to make Man? It has been trying to do that for a long time and only has succeeded in making what? A beast. As has been said before, only God can make a Man.
The LORD God, the spirit of the LORD God in action, creates. And we are concerned with letting the spirit of the LORD God be in action. But that action comes on the basis of the spirit itself and not on the basis of already-existing human abilities. No amount of human ability is going to achieve anything worthwhile. There have been very able people in this sense all down through the ages. Historically speaking they are sometimes spoken of as giants striding across the land—usually leaving devastation behind them—human nature in action, the devil in action. The devil has a vast array of human abilities. But the spirit creates. The spirit knows the reality of Man. Without the awareness in human consciousness of the corrupt state that has been present in human consciousness—often glorified on the basis of human ability—only when it is seen as corruption, as filth, as rottenness, will there be any willingness on the part of the one who sees to let it be dissolved.
There will be humbleness, a humble attitude, one might say “repenting in dust and ashes,” because it is such a horror to be made aware of this. Human consciousness rightly is devastated by that awareness: “O Lord, forgive me! I didn’t know what I was doing.” That is the human self finally coming to the awareness of its complete worthlessness. It is only at that point that the truth may begin to emerge into experience, uncolored, uncluttered, unchanged—its beautiful self! And when that truth fills the void of human consciousness, void of any sense of worth or ability or anything else, there is the experience of newness—something new, something unknown, something that has never been experienced before. And here is Man putting in an appearance as he really is.
Let us make Man. Let Us Be Man—be men and women enough, to start with, to acknowledge how arrogant and how corrupt we have been heretofore. “Father, forgive us, for we knew not what we did.” When we are willing to receive forgiveness and to reveal the truth, then we may offer forgiveness, and share in the continuing creative cycle by which Man is made. The arrogant and corrupt human nature must be cast down if Man is to rise up.
We have this opportunity together, to open our hearts in thankfulness for what has been made available to our awareness this morning. Human beings usually only want to give thanks for the things that are pleasing to human nature. What we have become aware of, if it is of any value, is most displeasing to human nature. Let us give thanks for an awareness of what the facts are. Let us give thanks that we need no longer stay subject to self-delusion. Let us give thanks that we see clearly enough that we are in no position to judge anybody else. We have no desire to do it. In human consciousness we are in a sense so devastated that we would not dare to do it. When this is the actual experience it is cause for thankfulness, because at last human nature has been exposed in our own experience for what it really is. We have talked glibly about the devil, but that is exactly what it is.
“O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; and his mercy endureth for ever.”
We may be grateful for that fact. It has endured to this moment, otherwise there would be no chance. “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy.” We begin to see what redemption really is. We are made acquainted with “a horror of great darkness,” as it was put at the time of Abraham on one occasion, a horror of great darkness—human nature—not as a theoretical idea, not merely as words, but as the fact in our own experience. We are aware of what has been cluttering up our earthly consciousness, maintaining the rule of the devil. The devil has been able to fool us into imagining that he was an angel of light and that we were really making progress in human consciousness, while it was all human nature still, the promotion of human nature, in robes of light of course.
But all things are to be made new. All this passes away. This is all part of the first heaven and the first earth. The new heaven and the new earth—what are these? The Lord reveals these by the action of His spirit when His spirit has a means of action undistracted by the human nature concept of its own ability. “I of myself can do nothing. I of my human self can do nothing.” Is this an acceptable statement insofar as we are concerned in this moment? Does it mean something to us in fact? Or do we still have a niggling doubt in the matter? “I think I can do something. I’m sort of quite able in this field, you know.”
“I of myself can do nothing.” If that was truly what the Master said when He was on earth, how can we be so arrogant to say that where He couldn’t do anything of His human self, we can? Isn’t this the attitude that has been taken in religion: “Yeah, we’re able to do something. Of course the LORD will back us in our doing if we make sure that it’s pretty good what we’re attempting.” How horrible! No. Let us share in letting all things be made new, aware that eye hath not seen nor ear heard, knowing that we don’t know what it will be, but it certainly will not be what we thought it was going to be, because what we thought it was going to be was based in human nature. Let us acknowledge that we don’t know, but let us acknowledge that we have the ability to allow it to be made known, to the glory of God. Praise the LORD!
Obviously something has been accomplished which would enable us to receive what has been brought this morning. But what has been accomplished eye hath not seen nor ear heard. In other words you do not know what it is that has been accomplished. You have had theories about it, you have had concepts about it, and you have dressed it in the forms that you have established in your human consciousness, structured forms borrowed from here and there to make it seem as though something was being accomplished. “Well,” we may say, “yes, something was being accomplished.” But it wasn’t what you thought it was. The “something” that is being accomplished is being accomplished by spirit and not by the human mind—not according to even the best ideas that it may have. It is something entirely different, something new, something unknown, something that bursts forth into awareness at some point when the human nature state has been dissolved, which it hasn’t been yet.

First Second Third Cycles Of Restoration
First, Second, Third Cycles Of Restoration
Uranda and Martin Cecil May 21, 1950 100 Mile House BC
Following on from our previous meditations, for the text tonight we go back to the 1st chapter of the first Book of the Bible, Genesis 1:1-2
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
“And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.”
In our recent services you have been sharing in and beholding the work of this second day of creation. If we were to say cycle instead of day, perhaps it would be clearer. The second cycle of the grand creative cycle by which the world was first made has been reinstituted in the recreative work of the restoration. The pattern of re-creation to achieve the restoration is exactly the same as the original pattern of creation by reason of which the world was brought forth. [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/2020/01/from-mysteries-of-eternity-ascending.html] Until recently our whole cycle of ministry has been devoted to the work of the first day, or the first cycle of creation in the restoration. Let us note how that pattern relates to the events in the outworking of God's will on earth which you have shared in the days gone by, that you may more vividly see and recognize the pattern of events which you are sharing now. The first verse is a summary of the whole outworking: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
“In the restoration God reunited heaven and earth.” For you that text so worded is already an accomplished fact, and it will be for the whole world. “In the restoration God reunited heaven and earth.” That is the first verse of the record as it is being made manifest now. You recognize how all of the events that are recorded in the Bible have a bearing on the fulfilment of that Word. The second verse indicates the beginning of the work, but as it relates to those events which we now share we substitute the word world for earth. The earth is already here. In this beginning of the restoration, “the world was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep.”
Looking back to the beginnings of history, when man's intelligence was first emerging from its low point after the fall, we see how the world was indeed without form and void, and darkness, insofar as spiritual vision and understanding were concerned, covered the face of the earth. Gradually the cycles of outworking carried forward until the time of Abraham, and on down to the time when our Master came. The events prior to His coming were, as they worked out, primarily a preparation for His coming.
Opportunity was given, through the establishment of the First Sacred School by Melchizedek at the time of Abraham, for man to return; but man did not carry through on that opportunity, so in actual fact all of the things that went before were primarily a preparation for the coming of the Master and that which He revealed on earth. We could easily say that there was over three thousand years of preparation, and the pattern was gradually but surely being worked out for the Master's coming into the world. While that pattern was evolving the world was still virtually without form in a spiritual sense and it was void of spiritual fulfilment in relationship to life. Darkness covered the earth because there was no vision, no understanding, with respect to man's relationship to God. But then the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters, and that spirit of God moving upon the face of the waters was given manifest focalization and meaning in the One we know as Jesus the Christ.
The spirit of God began to truly move upon the face of the waters with His coming. That movement of the spirit was made evident before He began His ministry, through the work of John the Baptist, but He was here when that movement on the face of the waters began. And when the spirit of God was moving upon the face of the waters of truth in the world, God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. Concerning that light it is written: “In the beginning was the Word.” In what beginning? This is speaking of the beginning of the restoration. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.” That is not to say that these words were not true with respect to the beginning of creation, but their meaning here for us relates to the beginning of the restoration.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
“There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
“He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
The first thirteen verses of the Gospel according to John. They reveal this action which God took with respect to the first creative cycle in the recreative work of the restoration.
“And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” Yes, we know that there was light, the light which our Master revealed on earth. “And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.” You see how this is true and has been fulfilled in the cycle of outworking back through the centuries to the days when the Master was here on earth. It has been working in the world, yet individuals have not truly let go in allowing it to work in themselves. Nevertheless you see how the pattern was established. And that light has continued to shine and influence the lives of millions. “And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.”
The first cycle of the recreative work in the restoration. So there was the night and there was the morning when the Master came, but soon the clouds dimmed the light and the remainder of that day was a dark day, for when the world rejected our LORD and crucified Him, darkness was again deep upon the face of the earth. Nevertheless that light which He established remained. It remained on earth and there has never been total darkness since that day. But the light and the darkness were divided because the light was made manifest. The darkness was already there. When the light was made manifest the darkness was divided from the light.
That first cycle, then, was completed. But you will notice that it says, “And the evening and the morning were the first day,” not the morning and the evening. Did you ever notice that before? It says, “And the evening and the morning were the first day,” and then, with respect to the second, it says, “And the evening and the morning were the second day.” The night came first, the night that ended when the Master came. Then the clouds settled down and there was another night. The evening, the night, of the second day began. The early dawn of this second day reaches back to the beginning of the increase of knowledge and understanding, the expansion of the world of man over the face of the earth. But it was not until after the turn of this century [1900 A.D.] that the sun rose at last, the first rim of the sun at least, above the horizon. The morning was beginning to appear and the work of the second day was brought into play.
“And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven.” The Master, in establishing the light on earth, had brought to man the Good News, “The kingdom of heaven is at hand.” And here, with respect to the work of the second day, we read: “And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.”
Even though from a world standpoint, the work of the second day was beginning, and had begun early in this century, the real meaning of the first day's work was not yet known to the children of men. So when I began that ministry which you have come to share, it was to bring to the mind of man a realization, an understanding, of the reality that had come into the world in the first cycle, the first day, of re-creation. These many years we have been working to establish on earth, in the world of man, a true recognition and understanding, a vivid realization, of that light. It was working in the current of that light that attracted you from your various places out in the world. And you responded to the light, so that finally we were here together in this place which the LORD had prepared.
The beginning of the actual manifestation of the work of this second day of re-creation could not manifest until there had been a true acceptance of the light. Finally that acceptance was sufficiently complete, sufficiently centered, so that the phase of the Unit at Sunrise Ranch passed through the Gate, and a short time later I was privileged to welcome you here in the Unit at 100 Mile House through the Gate. That was the beginning cycle of the work of the [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/2023/03/the-work-is-not-finishedborderland.html] second recreative cycle. The Master promised that the days should be shortened, the days necessary to the re-creation by reason of which the restoration should become a fact. If all of the days were as long as the first one the cycle of life as known to man would not be sufficient to allow the restoration to be complete. Without the shortening of the days no flesh could have been saved, but the days are being shortened, the days of the re-creation.
Having entered into the Kingdom on earth, the work of the second day began in the hearts and minds of those who had so responded that the work of the second day might be released in a controlled current out into the world of human beings. These services that we have shared since your passage through the Gate have been dividing the waters from the waters, establishing a firmament which should divide the waters that were above from the waters that were below. This firmament God called heaven in the beginning, and the Master called it so when He was here, and I have been telling you about it these many years, this firmament which is now beginning to manifest in fact because you are letting the work of the second day of re-creation have meaning on earth.
Water is the symbol of truth, and the ideas, the concepts, the degrees of recognition with respect to truth were all confused. There was no dividing place. That which was above and that which was below were all mixed together in the hearts and minds of the children of men. First the spirit of God had to move upon the face of the waters, and then the light had to come and be recognized. Then a focus could be established in the realm of those who recognized the light which would allow the beginning of the work of dividing the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament, and it was so. You have been sharing in that.
The currents achieving that result have been working for many years. The background pattern for the world has been established for a long time, but it had not come into focus in the hearts and minds of human beings. Now that focus is established, and you have been recognizing the manifestation of heaven, the firmament, the place of the air of the spirit, as the water, as the truth that relates to that which is below is divided from the truth that relates to that which is above, so you could let go of that which was below and move into that which is above. As long as the truth, the waters, were mixed, there was confusion. You were responding the best you knew how to God's truth but some of it was taking you up and some of it was taking you down. It had not been divided so that you could know in which direction to respond. Finally, coming into true polarity in the light, you began to let the mind be stilled, began to relinquish your human concepts and convictions, so that the former things could pass away and God could make all things new.
This working of God's power in this the second day of the recreative cycle then is beginning to clear your consciousness with respect to the truth that is above, which properly relates to you, from the truth that is below, the manifestation of that which is truth to the world because of the unreal. The unreal does exist and it is in the eyes of the world true, and all of the things that are true of the unreal are mixed in the consciousness of the people of the world. While that mixture is there, undivided from the world recognition of the truth that is truly above, there can be no entrance into the Kingdom, because until the water is divided they cannot see the Kingdom that is at hand. Exactly the same process that took place in the beginning, in the second day, has been taking place in you in the restoration, that the cycle of its expression could spread through you out into the world. As you see the truth with respect to that which is below—all the unreal and all of those things to which you should not respond—divided from the truth, the waters above, you see a space between into which you enter and you find that God named it truly when He said, “This is Heaven.” The Master knew what He was talking about when He said, “The kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
“And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.” We are in the second day of the re-creation [May 1950]. You have let yourselves be drawn into that heaven that is here mentioned, so that you could work from that heaven in sharing the further work of re-creation in the world. The succeeding days of re-creation must follow; they are yet to appear; but as the Master said, “Those days shall be shortened,” and these succeeding days can come for you just as soon as the dividing of the waters from the waters is complete in you. The third day will dawn for you before it will for the world if you but remain true and abide in the heaven into which you have been led; for as soon as that heaven is real and constant in you, so that the waters above and below are not being mixed in you, the third day can begin for you. As long as conditioning to the old patterns that were left behind tends to cause you to confuse the waters that are above with the waters that are below you cannot begin to know the third day of re-creation.
This third day will eventually spread out, as it were, to all the responding ones in the world who let themselves be drawn through the Gate into the Heaven that is at hand. By that time you should be through the cycle to the point of the sixth day. [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/2017/10/not-from-i-love-you-lord-martin-cecil.html] Then the succeeding days will come rapidly for those responding ones. This is the pattern of fulfilment in the work of re-creation, which you share. Until you have a vivid realization of this fact, until you abide constantly in a recognition of the importance of this outworking and of your responsibility therein, you cannot let the days be shortened for you. If you are to accomplish your ministry to which you are called in heaven on earth you must let the days be shortened for you, so that you may speedily come to that sixth day, and then, having passed the sixth day of the re-creation, you will have moved in the restoration to the state of Divine Men and Women, ready to work on earth as true instruments of God, through whom His perfect will may be done, through whom His creative work may be speedily and correctly accomplished in the world of responding ones. This, then, is that for which we are here.
You are not quite ready for a consideration of the third day. Remember this: “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love [and serve] Him.”
Martin Cecil — O LORD of Lords and KING of Kings, we thank Thee for the joy and privilege of seeing ever more clearly in that light which Thou hast established on earth, so that we may move forward in the recreative cycles ordained of Thee to accomplish Thy will on earth. We thank Thee for the privilege of entering into that firmament dividing the waters from the waters, so that, living and functioning from within that firmament, we may share in that re-creation, first of all in ourselves, so that coming to the sixth day, the sixth cycle, we may be that instrument in Thy hands whereby the succeeding cycles for the world may be fulfilled according to Thy Word, the days being shortened. So it is that we rest this evening in that heaven into which we have come, that all things may be made new, that Thy fulfilments may be brought to pass according to Thy will, in the Christ. Aum-en.
Uranda — Aum-en. Peace be unto you in heaven on earth as you so function that the waters may be kept divided and the firmament may be kept in manifestation, to the Glory of God and to the blessing of the children of men. Peace be unto you.
Martin Cecil — There is one point that occurs to me in relationship to the time cycles involved. Possibly it might seem a long time since the initiation of the first day in the recreative cycle, and, for instance, from the time of the Master to the present day, nineteen centuries. The days would have to be, on that basis, shortened in a most remarkable way to complete the job within the available time, but we may well recall that this intervening period has in one sense been unnecessary. It is something that has been added, something that has been more or less arbitrarily put there by human beings, because advantage was not taken of that which the LORD had established in the first place. The firmament in manifestation on earth should have appeared through the disciples, at least as the starting point, so that the second day would have begun there very shortly after the ascension of the Master. On that basis the time cycles would obviously have been in the process of being shortened back there. The speeding up could have taken place in the succeeding period, but the opportunity having been passed by, and the firmament having not truly come into manifestation through dividing the waters from the waters at that time, there has been this intervening addition which did not need to be there at all.
From our standpoint, we recognize that we are in the position of either being back there or of having brought that up here, so that the intervening period is ignored. Then the shortening of the days is not so incomprehensible. The outworking of the plan necessary to the restoration can easily be compressed into the time available as that firmament is allowed to manifest on earth. The shortening of the days in that sense could not get started properly until the firmament was in manifestation, because there was no instrument on earth, no means whereby the power of God could operate directly. So, having come into manifestation now, the continued progress of the cycles unfolding can move forward without delay.
Uranda — That is a most excellent point and one that can well be emphasized, because the human mind needs such emphasis to let go to the point of accepting the truth that these things can find fulfilment within the scope of the life cycle of an individual on earth now. I praise God for your presentation of that point.
We must not confuse the physical fact of day and night and the sun and the moon and the stars with that which is symbolized thereby. We have no idea that the physical sun, the physical moon, will not be necessary. In fact they are important to the New Earth state. There could be no New Earth without the physical sun, and one would not wish to contemplate the New Earth state without any moonlit nights. So it is obvious that that which is mentioned there is a symbolical portrayal. “The Lord God shall be the light of it”—the Light of God manifest through the Temple—the One Christ Body provides the manifestation of the Light. “And there shall be no night there.” In other words there shall be no spiritual darkness, there shall be no living in that Egyptian darkness which has been manifest on the earth so long. It is not to say that there will be no night there in the sense of the rising and setting of the sun because of the revolutions of the earth, but there shall be no night there in the sense of the Egyptian darkness. So when the Light of the living Christ is manifest in the firmament of heaven on earth we see the fulfilment of the Word that is spoken.
It is good to hear the Word, but it is better to be a doer of it, isn't it? I must say it is a real joy to me to be here with you folks and see you growing. I was noticing your cold frames out here and how those little plants are growing under the tender loving care they receive. And later they will be transplanted out in the garden, and we expect that they will bring forth fruit. I am not suggesting you are in the state of being in a cold frame, but I was looking at them today and thinking how symbolical that is of the real growing into the Stature and Grace of the Living Christ that is being made manifest so wonderfully in and through you folks here, and when it is an actuality in you and in the folks at Sunrise Ranch, and the faithful ones who are truly with us in spirit in other places, it is a current that cannot be resisted in the world.
We have talked about our expansion program and we are still working on it, but the fundamental need is this: that there be a real living, a real doing, by the members of the Unit, by the Unit as a whole. When you realize the irresistible force that is operating in and through you, you realize that that influence is at work in the world and it cannot be resisted by those who are responding—they will be drawn. Neither can it be resisted by those who are not responding—they will be repelled. The power is working. When we are dealing with the irresistible force of God's power there is no immovable object.
There is another point there that is related. It is good to know one is working in and with that which is irresistible. You know the world has been so full of so many futilities that generally speaking the human being is uncertain as to whether he is going to accomplish something worthwhile or not. He may valiantly try, but he is not conscious of working with some great and powerful force. I might mention that that is the fundamental appeal of communism. That is the thing that makes adherence to such a regime understandable. Of course to a large degree, after they actually get into it, they find that continuation in it is because of unspeakable compulsions; but the thing that gets people into it is the desire to be working with something that has such force. They want to be rid of futilities. Well they do not know what futilities they are getting into, and we have there an extreme distortion. That is at the low end of the line, so to speak, humanity's extreme distortion of the application of this principle with which you are harmonizing. That is on the destructive vibration, and this the constructive. That is completely opposed to this, as this is to that; but that is the fundamental desire that compels the individual, with the idea of preserving himself, into such an association.
Here, in the glorious liberty of the children of God, you are beginning to have a realization of what it means to be working with something that is irresistible, that is absolute, the irrevocable nature of God's Plan and Purpose. You recognized something of that in the service last night, that this thing that has been working out for so long, which you see manifesting, is something that simply cannot be prevented. And when you recognize that there is that which has waited and worked for so many centuries, that which has not been deterred or turned aside or prevented in any way by all the things that have taken place, you recognize the awesomeness of that which is involved. So we do have assurance, and you will remember that it is one of the Steps to the Temple of Light.
Martin Cecil — I have just been sitting here listening to the comments and your summary, rejoicing that these factors can be brought into focus and seen and felt and known, and that the power of God is so obviously at work, and that all, whether in this Unit or at Sunrise or out in the harvest field, are contained in that power, that irresistible movement, as long as they abide in the Kingdom and are in fact the manifestation of the firmament on earth. As such there is nothing that can prevent or turn aside or long delay the fulfilment of God's will and His purpose, which we recognize ever more clearly, that there may in fact be a New Heaven and a New Earth in entirety. I praise God that it is so.
Uranda — And in this we are in agreement and we praise God. Where there is such agreement it shall be done. Now that you have responded thus and digested somewhat our evening's service, perhaps you are ready to receive a little more. I want to touch briefly on this third day that is at hand for those in whom the firmament is truly established. First I will read. You will note that the first verse of Genesis gives the summary, a remarkable summary, the most outstanding I think in all literature. Then the second verse gives the setting; the third, fourth and fifth verses deal with the action of the first day; the sixth, seventh and eighth verses deal with the action of the second day. Then verses nine to thirteen inclusive deal with the action of the third day. Now remember what has gone before, and remember this is the beginning of the third cycle, and even as we consider it, this cycle is being initiated in and through those who have let the firmament become the reality of heaven and earth. “And God said”—and God speaks again in the recreative cycle—“let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.” And it is so and shall be so. “And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.”
“And God said”—and the Word of God is again released in the recreative cycle—“Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the third day.”
This third day, this third cycle in the recreative action of God's will in the restoration, is beginning. The waters under the heaven are being gathered together unto one place that the dry land, the true foundation of things on earth, may appear. “And God called the dry land Earth.” So is the earth that shall be united in union with heaven to appear. Human beings have imagined that that earth which was to be one with heaven was already here. In the sense of the physical earth we can say it is so, but in the sense conveyed here in the recreative cycle of the restoration, that earth does not appear until the reality of heaven is established. The heaven comes first, and then the waters under the heaven are being gathered together unto one place.
“And let the dry land appear.” The dry land is the earth. This dry land that is appearing, and shall appear, is the land where the things of God shall manifest, the land that is free of the confusions of the waters under heaven, free of the distortions, free of the pests and the parasites, free of those things that distort and destroy, even as it is written: “They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the Lord.” With the appearing of the True Earth, we see in the light of God that it is good. And again the Creative Word of God sounds forth: “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.” And it is so. The earth is bringing forth, and shall bring forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself. And we shall see with the Light of God that it is good.
So shall the conclusion of the third day in the recreative work of the restoration be known. So let it be in you and through you [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/2023/06/first-three-and-one-half-of-seven-steps.html] that there may nevermore be any confusion of the waters in the firmament and that the confusion of the waters under the heaven may cease to be; for with the waters gathered unto their place, and confined there, the dry land that is the True Earth is allowed to bring forth according to the will of God in you and through you, individually and collectively, and in your environment and in all that over which you have proper jurisdiction, that the works of your hands may be blest in the earth and that a hedge may be established about all that you have on every side, that it may be prospered and caused to bring forth abundantly, to the Glory of God and to the blessing of the children of men.
