Something significant is brought to focus at this time. On this date, and the date tomorrow and the next day, September 15 and 16, the initiation of this present cycle which we share took place in 1932. This was an occurrence in the life of one man. It might be said that the awareness that the door had been opened in heaven emerged through the consciousness of this one man, Lloyd Meeker—Uranda. Of course the door had long before been opened in heaven, but there was so much human overlay upon that fact that it had remained as though no door had been opened in heaven.

We are told that back along the way, a couple of thousand years, the veil of the temple was rent from top to bottom, which is a symbol of a door opened in heaven. However, there wasn't much evidence that this had taken place. Finally it surfaced in the consciousness of this one man. As far as he was concerned the door was opened in heaven for him. At the time it didn't mean anything to anybody else, but clearly the fact of it has had a widespread influence upon many people in what has subsequently occurred. Once again there was a conscious awareness of what was meant by the opening of a door in heaven.

Here was a particular point of focus which, while it occurred in the experience of one man, had a great deal of significance to all human beings everywhere, even though at the time virtually no one was aware of it. There always has to be a beginning point, and while that beginning point was established when Jesus was on earth it had been hidden subsequently behind a facade of religion. The fact was that the veil of the temple had been rent—the door had been opened in heaven—and that was available at the time appointed when it might resurface in human consciousness, which it did. We ourselves have some awareness of the fact that it did in our own experience.

I touch on these matters of history not because it is that important now but because it provides a basis of orientation in something very large that is taking place. I doubt if there is an adequate awareness as yet as to the immensity of what it is that is happening. There is something knocking at the door insofar as all people are concerned. Those who have something in them which responds rather than reacts to the knock on the door begin to move with it, and somewhere along the way a person will awaken to the fact that he simply cannot help but move with it—there is an awareness that the compulsion is such that there is no choice but to move with it.

As this occurs the rent in the veil of the temple enlarges. This is something that occurred in the experience of Uranda as initiator of the process. It had to be initiated in him to have any meaning. The procedure, insofar as he was concerned, was to do what was needed, then he had something to say. We have all been blessed by what he had to say because it opened the door of heaven in our own experience if we were willing to let ourselves move with it. Finally the point is reached by those who are in the process of being compelled, where one will admit that one is being compelled and that one has no choice in the matter at all—they are consciously aware of this compulsion which arises subconsciously. It is arising subconsciously in every individual human being on the face of the earth and each one has his own response or reaction to it. We share something which surfaces through people—they begin to become conscious of it. It happened with Uranda, and he provided a point of focus for the development of what needed to happen, which had never happened before on earth. It was without precedent: namely that there should be a group, or a body of people, who would move in a coordinated way with this emerging creative process, being compelled to do so. This compulsion is strong and it does not involve human choice. This is something that is emerging through all of us and we are here to allow it to have freedom of emergence without resisting it, without trying to stop it happening.

It is emerging here because of people, not because of the place. The place will be filled with the radiant substance of the people who are associated with it, and then the place begins to carry increasing significance on that basis. Most of you are aware of various locations on the surface of the earth that carry significance because there have been people involved with the process for many, many years. And that carries an atmosphere, so that anyone who comes there for whatever reason is affected by that atmosphere. They are either delighted with it and they want to stick around or they want to get out of there as soon as they can. There are these two elements involved here—attraction and repulsion. This occurs because of what may be called a creative field. It is similar to a magnetic field. There must be a magnet if there is to be a magnetic field. If there is a magnetic field, what is attracted into that field will reveal what the design of the magnetic field is. The heaven is there first, the magnetic field is there first, and then what relates to that magnetic field will fall along the lines of force. This is the way our own physical forms were created. There was a creative field established for each one of us, and the substance formed along those lines. There is present a magnetic focus: the parts of our bodies fit together; we don't flow all over the place. There is a design which transcends the earthly heredity design and is available for the substance of body and mind and heart to begin to reform along the lines of force. Of course the substance must be amenable to this. So we find, as there are people who provide a focus for this, that something emerges through them and through their location. Fundamentally, if one allows what is happening to continue to happen one will provide a point of focus wherever one happens to be, and things will begin to form around that positioning.

Part of the process is that this should not happen merely with respect to one person, as it did for instance with respect to Jesus. The disciples certainly never permitted a coordinated body to appear—there was disintegration and something else emerged, entirely different. It certainly did not emerge on the basis of the true design in heaven but was a design thought up by human beings on earth. So we have Christianity, which is not at all what was brought on earth and is not the door that was opened in heaven. This has been the historical process that has been going on, until finally the door opened in heaven was once again the experience of someone. But the intent was not that it should be the experience merely of someone, but that it should be the experience of a collective, unified body of people who would let themselves form on the lines of force established by the creative process—not trying any more to do their own futile thing.

We have noted the graphic words in the 24th Psalm: “The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein” as a statement of fact. Mind you, human beings do not agree with that. They say, “The earth is mine, to do with as I please.” We have had the intention to let the earth be returned to the Landlord and let the world that is established on earth be His. For this to happen there must be human beings who are willing that it should. Let us permit this creative process to work. And it is! And we know it is because it puts things together—draws people together in spite of themselves. Because there was this compulsion which was irresistible it had to work out. The creative process is working and it is compelling: Come into line—line up on the invisible lines of force.

There is the magnetic force drawing, and here are the lines of force and people form up on them in this way. There begins to be a collective, unified body through which the Landlord can take possession of His earth and create the world that belongs on the surface of this earth. It can't be done by human minds. It can't be done by human emotions. It can't be physically done. It is done spiritually. It is done invisibly because the heaven is there and the door is opened in heaven. When the door is opened in heaven we begin to be aware of what it is that is present in heaven, what the nature of the design is. And things begin to come together. A door is opened in heaven. The magnet is present, the lines of force are present. All that is emerging out of the invisible—but the visible begins to reflect what is emerging out of the invisible. The lines of force begin to reveal themselves because there are those who find themselves delineating them. But in order for that to happen there must first be the magnet here on earth where the job needs to be done. We have had opportunity to participate in the experience of that magnet in the recognition that there is a field of force within the magnet. When the magnet is magnetized by reason of our own living—we are the coils through which the current of life flows (it is an electromagnet, by the way) to magnetize the magnet, which is one's own physical form, or this collective form—then there begins to be a magnet. And when the magnet is there the field of force is there.

Now this magnet emerges through many people in many locations. There is significance to the locations because of the people. It comes because of people in very significant ways—it isn't a haphazard business. There is something quite specific happening. There is a vast change occurring throughout the body of mankind, but that change comes because there is the focus provided in the magnet. If the magnet isn't there things swirl back and forth and eventually there is no more life. Now there is something without precedent occurring, something vast. It seems to take a little while for human minds and hearts to have enough space to comprehend the largeness of what it is that is happening, so it has been coming in increments. But gradually the magnet puts in an appearance and there is the way by which all who will are drawn along the lines of force. This is a different kind of leadership.

God is right here, coming through His individual angels, who are sent forth into all the earth to gather the elect, but the gathering comes because there is a magnet and there are the lines of force. There cannot be a magnet without angels in action in human form. Then there is a magnet, then there are lines of force, and there is a drawing power—the irresistible drawing power and the irresistible repelling power. It separates—there are those who are drawn and there are those who are repelled. We don't have to judge anyone, ourselves included. Just let it happen and find out. What a wonderful privilege it is to participate in allowing an expansion to occur of this basic magnet.

It works, and it is discovered finally that it is true that the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. The earth is the Lord's. It belongs in the whole, the universal whole—part of the whole operation. And we have rightly, as man, a part to play in that. Man is essential to that operation as it relates to this earth. But let him come back, let me come back. That is all that is required. One has to let it happen for oneself. Letting it happen for oneself, the magnet is present, the lines of force are there, and the job is done.

We play our parts together individually in allowing the increase of life to be the experience, that the body which is forming may have life and have it more abundantly. Then there may be this facility available to the One to whom it really belongs, the One who said a long time ago, “This is my body.” People have been repeating the theory instead of providing a purified body, a sanctified body, in which the One whose body it is may live and move and have His being on earth.

The Outpouring

Confusion patterns must of necessity be changed before there can be much hope of any great outworking of the Holy Spirit through man in the practical expression of daily life. Confused in the consciousness of the mass, there is the wide-spread idea that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, or the baptism of the Holy Spirit, is something which comes in some ecstatic moment when one has reached a peculiarly high level of consciousness, and then it is over—as if one might be sprinkled with water or something of the sort. There is, presumably, a lasting change in the individual's life, but it is not seen as the practical thing that it really is. The outworking or the outpouring of the Holy Spirit relates to the expression of thought and word and deed in the motivating power and direction of the Spirit—not something that is segregated from the practical patterns of life, but something which is in and of itself the true expression of practical life.

We begin to realize that the outworking or outpouring of the Holy Spirit is something that cannot come and does not come except in relationship to activity in the Spirit—ministry, service, living. It is not something that comes to you when you are in some kind of ecstatic or particularly receptive mood as if you were a point in an electrode up here to catch a lightning bolt or something of the sort, but it is rather the movement of the Spirit through you in the realm of Service, in the daily expression of life, in words and deeds, attitudes. So the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is a living thing, not limited to a moment or two or an hour or two, but established properly in relationship to a lifetime.

The proper recognition of distinctions involved here, between the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the baptism of the Holy Spirit, is something that I think should be clarified. I have already outlined the true meaning, the true implications contained in the expression, “the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.” It is something that we must experience and have as a Reality in our lives if we are to be Servers, if we are to give true attunements, if we are to help others in a thousand and one ways. But the baptism of the Holy Spirit is a somewhat different thing—a different aspect of this same process. It is an initiative aspect. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is that which the individual receives from another who is functioning in the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. To bring it down to our particular experience here, if it can be said that I am functioning on the basis of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit when I come before you, here to speak, and if the words that I speak are of the Holy Spirit, then this is, every time I appear before you in Class or in Service, the outpouring is of the Holy Spirit.

Now, if you as a hearer, receive that outpouring and let it have meaning to you, you are sharing then in the baptism of the Holy Spirit, in that moment—in that period of time. And if that attunement with the Holy Spirit that is so established, remains in you so that you begin to have, for all the days to come, the manifestation of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit through you in thought, in word, in attitude and deed, then you have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Any person, anywhere at any time, who hears or feels that which is of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit through another, is to some degree receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The point is that with most people it tends to be a sprinkle instead of a submersion, not because only a sprinkle is offered, but because only that much is received. But the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is through you or through anyone, anywhere, who is allowing that Current of the Holy Spirit to be constant, consistent, and positive, in the expression of life through thought and word, attitude and deed. Consequently, if the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is a Reality in and through you, you in your relationship with God are offering the baptism of the Holy Spirit to anyone who will receive it.

Summer  Session — Sunrise  Ranch

In these last few days of this particular Session cycle, which brings us to a new beginning, we are carrying into levels of consciousness and function that are new to you—to a very high degree at least. It is not expected with respect to the details involved that you will immediately grasp and understand it, but you have been well grounded with respect to the fundamentals, and, always, if you function according to the One Law, and are content to let the vibrations work out without letting your outer mind become self-active and inject questionings and doubt or fears, you will find that the details of the Pattern will come clear. Remember always that it does not make any difference what the circumstance, if there is anything obscure, do not let the mind fasten upon that and begin to go in circles. You do not need to try to understand every point. Remember to function according to the fundamentals which are clear to you, and we will move forward effectively.

The closing of this cycle will bring the opening of another—the beginning of a cycle of Service unprecedented in the whole history of man. It does have precedent with respect to principles, but that is all. The ever-changing picture with respect to the details of application make it impossible for the human mind to grasp or understand all the phases and factors in advance, and that is fundamentally true with the individual in his daily life. Your life unfolds moment by moment, and you have been learning to live in that unfolding moment, and find your life expression in that moment, without being unduly concerned about that which is to be. When we function correctly in this moment, we will be ready for the next, and we will be in position to meet the circumstances that arise as we remain true to the principles we know in each unfolding moment of Eternity.

It is the unfolding nature of life, moment by moment, that makes it so vitally interesting. Why should human beings want so much to know what is ahead of them, what is coming? They may be very thankful that they cannot know more fully than they do. It is wise to enjoy each unfolding moment as it comes, each day with its new opportunities and new expressions of Reality, and with each morning to realize that: “This is the day that the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” In such a spirit and attitude, we can let the Spirit direct, and we have that assurance in God, by reason of Love for Him, that lets His perfect Love cast out all fear.

More and more in these days, our work comes primarily in the field of Radiation. I have, over a wide range, carefully considered the various facts of Truth with you. We have considered the various expressions or portrayals of Truth, and now as we have reached to higher levels of consciousness, you will find expansion coming naturally and easily when you just let go in the Current of the Word, not trying to understand, not trying to analyze or classify, but just letting it flow freely in the Current of Divine Love, and if our work is to mean anything to the world, it must become, dominantly, a work of Radiation.

Tonight, I should like to read you the Words by which a picture is painted, a portrayal vivid and dramatic, a revelation of Truth in the Pattern of Life, contrasting the Real with the unreal, and so as you relax into the Current of this portrayal through the Word, you will find blendings of the Spirit of Love and the Spirit of Truth, and as you realize the outworkings as they are portrayed here, and see how they have been made manifest in your own lives, you let that Current of Realization flow out into the world, because that which was, is now, and the fulfillment which was within the scope of this picture must likewise now appear on a grander scale. This picture contains the Pattern of Fulfillment as it must appear in all the world. I mentioned that this portrayal is vivid and dramatic. It is, but it cannot be as vivid and dramatic as this actual outworking in which you are privileged to have a share—one of those who takes part in the actual outworking of this on a world-wide scope. In such a drama, excellence of function is essential.

“And it came to pass, when the human mind recognized the Servant of the Lord, that the human mind said unto him. Art thou he that troubleth the Chosen Ones? And the Servant of the Lord answered, I have not troubled the Chosen Ones, but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the Lord, and thou hast followed the prince of this world.

“Now therefore send, and gather to me all the Chosen Ones unto the Mount of Decision, and the prophets of the prince of this world four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the self-active habitations of men four hundred, which eat at the queen's table. So the human mind sent unto all the Chosen Ones, and gathered the prophets together unto the Mount of Decision.

“And the Servant of the Lord came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if the prince of this world, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

“Then said the Servant of the Lord unto the people, I, even I only, remain a prophet of the Lord; but the prince of this world has prophets numbering four hundred and fifty men. Let them therefore give us two bullocks, as the symbol of the self-active, human mind; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.

“And the Servant of the Lord said unto the priests of the prince of this world. Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under. And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of the prince of this world from morning even until noon, saying, O prince of darkness, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made.

“And it came to pass at noon, that the Servant of the Lord mocked them, and said. Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth and must be awaked. And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them. And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.

“And the Servant of the Lord said unto all the people. Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down. And the Servant of the Lord took twelve stones, according to the number of the sons of the Responding Ones, unto whom the word of the Lord came, saying, The Chosen One shall be thy name: And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord; and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed. And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood. And he said, Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time. And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water.

“And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that the Servant of the Lord came near, and said, Lord God of the Chosen Ones, let it be known this day that thou art God, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word. Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the Lord God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again. Then the fire of the Lord fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said. The Lord, he is the God; the Lord, he is the God.” (l Kings 18:17-39)

You have been sharing in the building of the Altar on the Mount of Decision. You have been letting the Sword of Truth cut the bullock of your self-active, human mind into many pieces, and you have been letting those pieces be laid, one by one, upon the Altar. In time past you have seen and, perchance, at times shared, in the activities of those who undertook to call upon the name of the prince of darkness. You have seen how the priests of his following leap upon the altar, cut themselves and go through all manner of contortions in order to make their activities appear great, and human life is not sacred unto them, and you have found, and you know, that there is no voice, nor any to answer the call of the lonely, or the call of the weary one, or the cry for help from the broken one who puts his trust in the prince of this world. There is no ceasing from struggle and there is no time of rest for those who are the disciples of darkness.

You have been drawn here to the Mount of Decision to share in proving to the world that the prince of darkness is not only not the only god, but more—that he is not a god. And so you have let your bullock be cut in pieces by the Sword of Truth. Step by step, piece by piece, you have relinquished that which has become the burnt offering. The Altar has been builded of living stones, and the wood has been put in order, and the bullock, cut in pieces, has been laid upon the wood. Carefully we have been pouring the four barrels of water over the sacrifice, over the wood and over the Altar. We have done it once; we have done it twice; we have done it a third time—once for each plane of your being. Four barrels of water—the Truth with respect to the Four Forces which provide the Firm Foundation for the expression of Truth according to the Perfect Pattern in the physical plane, in the mental plane and in the Spiritual plane—a barrel of water for each plane and for each Force in each plane. Carefully the work has been done; the saturation with the Water of Truth is complete, and the trench round about is filled with the water. The rest remains between the Altar and the Living God.

As I have come unto you, a Priest after the Order of Melchizedek, revealing anew for you the Way, the Truth and the Life, you have found that all the people who Respond are being drawn, and that the Chosen Ones are coming near unto the Lord. You are finding out what it is to draw near unto the Lord. I have told you of the test by Fire, and you know that it is the Fire of His Love. You know that in the Fire there is nothing to fear for those who love Him, that only that which is contrary to the perfection of the Divine Pattern can be burned away in the Fire.

These two pictures are one and the same thing. The Holy City, the New Spiritual Consciousness in which you are learning to dwell, is coming down from God out of Heaven. As you have come unto a great and high mountain, it has ceased to be for you the Mount of Decision, and has become for you the Holy Mountain of Love Response to the Lord of Love.

O LORD of Love, Thou glorious, wondrous One, we wait upon Thee, willing to let Thy Will he done on earth as Thy Will is done in Heaven; for Thine is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory. “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” In the Flaming Fire there is Love, and the dark corners are searched out and purified; for there is no house great enough to contain both Him and the prince of darkness.

O LORD of Lords and KING of Kings, as these Blessed Ones and all who Respond with them are being prepared to enter fully into the Flame wherein the causes of limitation are burned away, I rejoice to know that their Response is unto Thee, that they may abide ever in Thy Peace and be forever a channel of Thy Joy into the world.

O LORD, I thank Thee for the wonder of Thy Love and for the blessed privilege we have of drawing near unto Thee, that we may with one accord let that purity of heart be established which lets that Spirit come unto us and abide in us, now and forevermore, IN the Christ. Aum-en.

When your senses blend into one thing and you are focalized in the consciousness of Love Response to the Lord, you cease being conscious of yourself as an individual. How many of you shared that experience? Most of you. Remember that I said it was a losing of consciousness of oneself as an individual. It is the coming to a focalization in a suspended point of awareness in consciousness where consciousness of body or hands or feet or physical or mental or Spiritual or anything like that tends to disappear. I think you did a remarkable job of letting your minds be stilled tonight.

Several of you mentioned having a feeling of suspension, of being lifted up. That was true of most of you. That is the longest period of silence where you have been able to function as a Unit on a focalized vibration, and I think you did remarkably well. As we reach a point where we can relax into it and let ourselves be drawn into that type of focalization of consciousness where there is the stillness of Heaven, and your consciousness is then suspended in Love Response to the Lord, the expression of simple Truth through that Current or through that focalization of consciousness into the world will produce a means by which we can share in powerful Radiation, and the significance of those simple Truths in that sphere of focalization of consciousness and attunement with the Divine, of consciousness of oneness in the Christ Love and the Current of His Power, will permit increasing steps in Illumination.

You are not attempting to carry anything but a recognition of fundamental principles with which you harmonize in such a period of silent Radiation as this. Of course, there will be various methods of utilizing it, but there will be expressions of simple Truth that will have peculiar meaning to you individually and collectively and in Radiation to the world, and you will find, drawing into this focalization of consciousness, an awareness of Reality on a new level of perception. That is about as near as I can describe it at the moment, because we are coming into this realm, and you know from what you have experienced tonight that words do not convey very much of it. Words are inadequate. What I say under such conditions will tend primarily to be keys that will help your mind make an attunement in the Current, and permit Spiritual communion or conveying of Spiritual Truth on a level transcending the use of words, and the degree to which you have a definite consciousness of it in the shape of words is beside the point, and there will develop a consciousness on that level of Spiritual communion where words are not necessary in a new level of consciousness.

I feel that you did splendidly tonight, and I praise God for you and with you, and it is really an opening or a beginning of that co-ordination in consciousness which allows an ever-increasing fullness of the Fire of His Love to be made manifest through you in an increasingly powerful Current, and I praise the Lord for you and with you. Perhaps one of the best ways that you could think of it at the moment is as an Open Window of Heaven. The Window is not trying of itself to see what is in Heaven. It is an Open Window of Heaven.

If there comes a sense of being separate from peace by reason of any of your activities, it would be well, in the first place, not to let it be a cause of disturbance. In the second place which is, properly, primary, pause for a few moments in Love Response to the Lord, and it should be easy for you to relax into that sense of peace, and it will be, more and more as we move forward, that all of your activities will be carried on within the scope of this deeper sense of utter peace, and as you become so polarized that you can function from within that peace, you will find that what you say and do tends to carry peace into the world. Unless you can function from within that peace, you cannot give peace to the world.
