The Basis Of Agreement—Eternal Triangle

The  Basis  Of  Agreement — Eternal  Triangle

Martin Cecil   September 23, 1954  Class

[7 weeks after Uranda's death]

After the service last night some of you were down for the comment period. I pointed out something, which we might bring to focus again this morning, with respect to this business of holding the vibration steadily and consistently. I used as an illustration the cashier in the bank who worked every day, for many years, discharging his duties correctly day by day—maybe an eight-hour day or whatever it was—and being honest, at least as a cashier. Then one day it took him just one second to take a hundred-dollar bill out of the till and put it in his pocket, and that break, that one break, nullifies all the rest of his good behavior. That might be taken into account, perhaps, in the sentence that was passed on him, but by reason of that one action he is dishonest. And that is all it takes from the standpoint of our pattern: just one second of reaction, one second of coming into subjection to some ill thing and giving it form in the expression of word or in act that is a break, that violates the individual's integrity. He is responsible, then, for establishing something with respect to the whole, and the whole has to suffer the consequences as long as the individual concerned is a part of the whole.

Necessarily we have to accept those who are responding, who are desirous of sharing in this ministry and who are undergoing the processes of training and growth as a part of the whole so that they may experience the essential changes, the essential restoration by reason of that which is working through the whole. So it is something that cannot be avoided. We are all a part of the whole, whether we have fully realized it or not, whether we like it or not; as long as we are sharing in this pattern of ministry we are a part of the whole. Consequently we have a responsibility one toward another which requires that we maintain that consistent pattern of centering in God which will allow the maintenance of integrity. We can become subject to so many things so easily, as human beings, unless we remember something about this Server's Code which we were touching upon in yesterday's class.

Server's Code: greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/we-have-open-door-set-before-us-from.html

Fear, for instance.  We may find ourselves in a position where there is an impact which would, if we did not maintain our centering, produce fear. The individual is so often inclined to think that, just because there is that impact, there must be fear; it is something that cannot be helped. But it isn't so. It can be helped, if the individual maintains centering properly. We are going to be recipients of many things that are of an ill nature, many things which according to the usual human pattern would produce reactions which we know to be wrong. Fear is one of them.  Whereas the centering of Almighty God is in love, so let it be with me. We know that perfect love casts out fear, and we need to be centered in Almighty God. When we are centered in Almighty God we do not allow our imagination to cause us to come into subjection to that which might otherwise, in the usual human pattern of things, produce fear. There is no need for fear. When we are centered in God there is an adequacy of His spirit available to us. We do not need to become self-centered.

You know, I was thinking back a few years to the time when I personally would have considered it an impossible task to stand up here and speak to you—not so very long ago. And I think, within the scope of our ministry, there are others who could say the same thing. But where there is the right centering, so that we do not become controlled by that which is impinging upon us from external sources, there is that available within the individual which can provide a basic pattern of steadiness and assurance in doing that which is essential in the fulfilment of responsibility in the expression of one's own life, in one's own sphere. God provides that which is essential to the fulfilment of one's own responsibilities. He does not provide that which is essential to the fulfilment of someone else's responsibilities. Perhaps there are times when we are under the necessity of carrying someone else's responsibilities for a while and there is strength and wisdom given for that; but that is something in the pattern of ministry, in the pattern of service, which God makes available the strength and wisdom to carry.

But in any case, as long as we are centered in the right place, there is that which is available at all times. It may not appear just the way the individual thinks it ought to appear. Some people have a preconceived idea of what sort of an impression they ought to make on others, for instance. They are all the time endeavoring to uphold this impression, trying to make themselves appear to be something which they think they ought to be, and they are very sincere about it. The fact of the matter is that they do not know what they ought to be. The Lord does, and when the individual is centered in the Lord there is that which appears which is right and proper. It may not be perfect all at once, but it unfolds, and as the individual trusts the Lord, abides in assurance, the process automatically takes place which brings forth that which is true to the individual's own expression of being, step by step.

This morning I wanted to draw a few diagrams on the board in order to clarify, if possible, some of the patterns as they are appearing in relationship to our present cycle of ministry. Diagrams are very useful as illustrations for conveying ideas, but we always need to remember that the diagrams themselves are not the thing itself. They are just useful to the degree that they open the vision to see something of the essence of that which is being conveyed through the diagram. We can use many diagrams, different diagrams, to convey the same idea. We can approach it from different angles. There have been occasions when there have been those who, because there was a shift in the manner of presentation, have said, “Ah, here is a contradiction.” No, it was simply that, before, the individual had just been looking at the diagram and had not been looking at that which was revealed by the diagram. We need to see that which is revealed by the diagram without being so inflexible that we cannot do without that particular diagram or we cannot illustrate it in some other way.

Now first of all, the familiar triangle which you know: Love at the apex, Truth and Life at the two points of the base. You recognize that triangle as it appeared from the standpoint of the focalizations on earth established through Uranda, when he was here, and myself. This line here is between heaven and earth. [A triangle drawn with base on a horizontal line, Truth and Life at the corners and Love at the apex. Then, a triangle drawn with inverted apex, Life, on the horizontal line and the points of Love and Truth both at the top.] Now obviously there has been a shift in that triangle, because the focalization in relationship to this point is no longer on this line. What happened?  That point moved into heaven, or the inner planes, thereby turning the triangle in this direction, in a clockwise direction, which brings it into this position. We use an equilateral triangle to illustrate, so it doesn't matter in which direction, which way up it is, it is the same shape. We have Truth, we have Love and we have Life, and there is the line.

Truth and Love come to balance at that inverted point of the apex of the triangle, which is situated on the line between heaven and earth. We can extend that point down and establish a triangle below, with the apex up. We will consider that in a moment. But we know, from the standpoint of principle, that Love and Truth must be in balance in the individual if there is to be the true expression of life. We have, then, a situation here which establishes or makes available, possible, an absolute balance in relationship to Truth and Love.

Yesterday we were listening to a recording in which Uranda was dealing with the Holy Family: Father, Mother, and here is the point at which the Child may manifest on earth—the inverted apex of the triangle. And that triangle has always been present with respect to each individual. Uranda was pointing to it, in that recording yesterday, as being present with respect to you. While he was still here that triangle was a fact, still is a fact. But it not only is a fact in relationship to the individual, it is also a fact in relationship to the whole, so that we have a basis for agreement, a new basis for agreement. This triangle, with Truth and Love in balance, coming to focus in the inverted apex at the point of Life, is present and has been present with respect to the individual. Now this triangle is a reality not only with respect to the individual but with respect to the whole. In relationship to the whole, I find myself at this point. In relationship to yourself as an individual you also find yourself at that point, and to the degree that you are at that point, and to the degree that I am at that point, with respect to the whole, we are naturally and easily in agreement. Exactly the same pattern is present with respect to you and with respect to me. Love and Truth in balance in you brings you into agreement with me and causes you to be a part of that which allows the manifestation of Life as God designed it and established it to be revealed and made manifest on earth.

Now, you know that love, the spirit of God's love, has primary relatedness to the feeling realm, and truth, the mind—love to the heart and truth to the mind. This Class period through which you have been passing has been designed primarily to assist you into conformity with the truth, to let the truth begin to be the design of your being—it is the design of your being in fact, but to let it become a manifest fact in this realm of things and to begin to bring you under control. Until you as individuals have allowed the design to be established, and an adequacy of control to be operative, it would not be wise or constructive to expect an increased release of the power of God's love into the expression of life. We know what happens if the design of truth and the proper control are not there when there is an increased outpouring of the spirit of God's love. There has been human experience in that regard, and it is not constructive. It brings destructive results. So our concern has been to establish the proper design and an adequacy of control, so that we may allow a balancing release of the power of God's love. Love and truth must be in balance, otherwise we do not have a constructive expression of ministry and service.

We have given considerable thought to the question of control, that the control of the spirit, the spirit of truth specifically, may be allowed to operate effectively in you as individuals—the control of the spirit of God. Human beings usually take the attitude, when they begin to see something of the pattern, that the control that is essential must spring forth from within themselves. That is true. They must come under the control of something from within themselves, but how is that going to be made possible, because there are human beings that have been trying to let the spirit of God control from within themselves for centuries, and we can observe just how much control the spirit of truth has had in the world. There must be, as our Master pointed out, something made manifest on earth to provide a starting point, so that the individual might come to the point of understanding, comprehending, what it means to let the spirit of God control from within himself. Our Master said, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.” There must be, then, something made manifest in focus on earth to provide a point of control with respect to those who are learning to come under the control of the spirit of God. If the individual does not come under the control of that which is made manifest, providing thereby an easy means for the establishment of control, how can the individual expect to come under the control of something invisible of which he knows so little? There needs to be that training which allows the manifestation of obedience, trust, with respect to that which is made manifest, so that the individual can begin to realize the control of that which is invisible. To the degree that there is the acceptance of the external control, to that degree it is made possible for the individual to begin to find that balance of love and truth by which the control may operate no matter where the individual may be.

As Uranda has pointed out many times, it is not that there is the arbitrary establishment of some sort of dictatorship; but unless the individual learns to be obedient and to accept the control of that which is provided in the outer sense, he can never learn to accept that which is provided in the inner sense. There must be, in other words, an alignment with this triangle which is established for the purpose of permitting the individual to come under his own control of Father and Mother, the Spirit of Love and the Spirit of Truth. If this triangle is a reality in the overall sense, then here is a duplicate triangle of that individual pattern which is present within each one, and as the individual accepts this point in relationship to the greater triangle he does, by the same process, accept his own triangle, established for himself as an individual. And it is impossible for any human being to come to the point of an adequate centering at this point in relationship to his own triangle without coming to an adequate centering in relationship to that point as it appears with respect to the whole. It simply cannot be done. Something may be achieved as long as the individual is not consciously aware of these things; something may be achieved, but there comes a point of conscious awareness, and at that point of conscious awareness there must either be an acceptance or rejection. A period of time is of course necessary, and provided, so that the individual may, with understanding, come into position to make a wise choice. But the point is that we have something established here that makes possible the easy way of agreement, that we may come into agreement on earth as touching the things of God.

Perhaps we might give a little consideration to this lower triangle from the standpoint of your individual fields of ministry. [Two triangles meeting in a point A on the horizontal line, and with points B and C on the base of the lower triangle.] Remember that with respect to you there is this upper triangle established with you at this point (A). However, we are considering this now from the standpoint of the larger triangle, so that I am at this point (A).

Here we have, then, the creative triangle necessary for the purposes of accomplishing that to which your lives are ordained. In that triangle, you have a point here (B), and as you already know from your previous meditations, the one whom you would serve must be assisted into this point (C), so as to become a part of the creative triangle by which he or she may be restored into that state of being which is God's will. Obviously, if there is to be a triangle, you must first be at this point. You cannot be at that point without being in agreement with me. If you are not in agreement with me you certainly could not assist anyone whom you would serve to come to that point so that he or she was in agreement with me. They need to be in agreement with you, and you need to be in agreement with me, and then we have a basis for establishing the creative triangle by which something may be accomplished. But agreement. For that triangle to manifest for a moment, or for an hour or two, or even for a day or two, and then disappear because there is a violation of the agreement doesn't provide any stable opportunity for those whom you would serve to come into it and stay in it. There must be that consistency of agreement.

We need to remember that when serving we shall be called upon—we are now called upon—to meet, to work with, to deal with, all kinds of human beings. We need to remember that personal likes and dislikes, personal feelings of any kind, in relationship to those whom we serve (and is there anyone anywhere whom we don't serve?—so this is something that relates to all with whom we come in contact) personal likes and dislikes have absolutely no place. We may feel certain things with respect to different individuals, they may affect us in different ways in the sense that if personal preferences were allowed to operate we would be inclined to like this person and not like that one, but such things must not at any time control. It doesn't matter who it is, it doesn't matter what our feelings may be in the personal sense, the balance of love and truth must be maintained in ourselves so that that which we make available is always of God, consistently, so that we hold the line, so that we are true to our trust, so that we do not violate our integrity.

There is sometimes the necessity for firmness, but that firmness always appears on the basis of love, when it is right. There is also a need for gentleness and tenderness, all these things appearing on the basis of God's love. Unless we do have love in balance with truth within ourselves we cannot minister; if we do not have truth in balance with love within ourselves we cannot minister. They must both be there, they must be in balance, and they must be consistently allowed to operate. When it is so, we have the proper basis of agreement, and where two shall agree on earth as touching the things of God, it shall be done in relationship to the one who is at this third point, that God's will may be done on earth as it is in heaven. Agreement. We have such a wonderful basis for agreement. It is perfect. We share properly the same point, that we may, if we will, be with one accord in one place. That is the one place, the place where I AM. That is where we all need to be. What was it our Master said? “I go to prepare a place for you ... that where I am, there ye may be also.” So the place where we can be with one accord in one place is always where I AM.

The focus point of life on earth is made possible by reason of the balance of love and truth. Both love and truth are invisible. Life is invisible too, but it is also visible. It is visible, or the evidence of its presence is made visible, by reason of physical form. We have, then, this point which is on the line between heaven and earth, and that is the point where man is supposed to be, isn't it? He is the connecting link, properly, between heaven and earth. That is the point where man, mankind as a whole, is supposed to be. We have to come to that point first, and stay there. When there is something established at that point adequate for the need, we have the means by which the things of God, the power of God, can be channeled into the earth.

We could perhaps make an illustration, look upon man as a funnel, couldn't we?—the funnel which leads into the earth down here. But there must be something open here at the point, which allows the flow to move freely into the world, something open, open because there is a sharing in agreement with respect to the things of God, with respect to the purposes of God, that for which we have been sent into the world. Not just us alone. There are those who share with us consciously in a recognition of some of these things, but in fact all have been sent into the world for a purpose. Nevertheless, because we have this recognition we have this opportunity, the opportunity of agreeing on earth as touching the things of God, that we may all come together to be with one accord in one place. “And ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Spirit is come upon you.”

The Holy Spirit can come upon you only as you are at that point, because that is the point where it comes to focus, the point of contact between heaven and earth. You cannot contact the Holy Spirit by staying down here. I am not referring to this triangle which we were considering a few moments ago. As long as human beings stay down here, there is no means by which they can contact that which is coming down from God out of heaven. We might say that there is a triangle here—the tower of Babel, something that human beings have constructed in their own strength and wisdom, so called. It has a flat top. That top represents the many heads which we were talking about in a service some time ago. There needs to be the One Head, that which makes this connecting link here, so that the things of God can extend into the world body of mankind, so that the power of God's love, working in accordance with the design of truth and under the control of the spirit, may bring forth on earth the resurrection and the life to all who will receive, and by the same token, destruction and death to all who will not—not because that is God's will, but because human beings who refuse to receive that which God offers condemn themselves to death. We need to let that connecting link be established because we are in agreement, because you come into that point where I AM. [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/function-of-mind-in-illumination.html]

Yesterday, at the class, I was speaking about identification with real being, with your real being, so that when you say, “I am,” you speak the truth. Most human beings do not. They are taking the Name of the Lord in vain, because the only true identity that the individual has is his own Lord, the God Being, and it should be the expression of the God Being through the human form which says, “I am”. It is not the human being who says, “I am,” properly speaking. Human beings do, having stolen themselves from God and thinking of themselves as being something of themselves. They say, “I am something or other.” It is a lie. Anything that defileth or worketh abomination or maketh a lie shall not enter into the Holy City, the consciousness of Divine Being. It must be the expression of the Lord of the Temple who says, “I am,” not an arrogant human being. A human being humble ... that is, true humility.

So many people think that humility requires them to refuse to accept responsibility. “Oh I'm just a humble person, so humble I couldn't be expected to do anything very much on earth. I'll do my best, but to let the Lord appear on earth, oh no! I'm a humble person.” That individual is arrogant—arrogant! He is saying, “I am something. I am going to keep myself something separate from God.” A humble person accepts that which is true in relationship to himself. He is true to the truth. He knows that he is the Temple of the Living God. He does not deny it; he does not try to get out of it. He accepts the commission. He ceases to be an arrogant, self-willed human being, pretending to be humble—a hypocrite, in other words—and he begins to become a true man or woman on earth, a revelation of that which he or she is, so that when the word is spoken “I am”, it carries true meaning and it is not a denial of the Lord, it is not taking the Name of the Lord in vain.

What was it the Lord said? “I AM THAT I AM.” When anyone uses the word “I,” or “I am”, in the human way, the way in which human beings do, without regard to God, without any recognition of God, without letting it be the expression of God on earth, he or she is taking the Name of the Lord in vain. Until that which is spoken is the expression of the spirit of God through the human form, because the human being has become humble before the Lord and is letting himself be what he ought to be and what he is in reality, there is a taking of the Name of the Lord in vain. We would not do that, because it is our desire to be with one accord in one place, that “where I AM, there ye may be also.”
