Angelic Stature—Archangelic Stature

Angelic  Stature — Archangelic  Stature

Martin Cecil   August 18, 1978

You know from your own experience that if there is a refusal to accept responsibility you lose your authority. When you accept the responsibility, even though you may feel inadequate in the situation, the authority is still there. The authority goes with the responsibility. Reject the responsibility, you reject the authority; accept the responsibility and move in it, and you have the authority—not because you thought you had it before, perhaps; you may have thought you lacked it because of the sense of inadequacy—but accept the responsibility and you have the authority. And you may handle it, consequently, on the basis of the Tone which you have come to know. You really know what that is, so don’t dither around, sound it. Don’t say to yourself, “Well I am not just sure how the Tone should sound in this situation.” That is rejecting the responsibility. So you don’t have the authority or the experience of the Tone. Accept the responsibility and the Tone sounds, and you know the authority.

A question was asked by one of you: “How big are you?” Insofar as our physical forms are concerned, they are not all that big. In this sense, some are larger than others; some smaller; different shapes. But we realize that there is more even to the external manifestation than the physical form. There is the substance of consciousness which extends beyond the form—fills the form and extends beyond the form. There are the levels of substance in this regard, seven such levels, of which the physical form is one. On this basis I suppose we could say we are seven times bigger than our physical form. There are occasions when a person says, “Well, I just felt ten feet tall. Well, it may be the fact; maybe twenty. ”Are you six feet tall? Multiply it by seven; that would take you up into the forties, wouldn't it? Even from the standpoint of our facilities of incarnation, we are not just as small as we thought. But is that the gauge of our real size, do you think? That gives evidence of the fact that we must be bigger than what we create.

We are able to encompass the creation. Let us not downgrade ourselves by assuming a false humility. If there is the inclination to say in any circumstance, "Well I'm only one person; what can I do about it?"—You are at least one forty-foot person! And if a forty-foot person looms on the scene I am sure everybody would take note and there would be a little hesitancy about contending. So let us be assured in this regard, partly because the facilities of incarnation are a lot bigger than we had previously thought, but also because we who incarnate are any size that is needful, and we are capable of encompassing whatever is required of us—namely our worlds. We encompass our worlds. Let us therefor see our worlds from the standpoint of One who encompasses them, and not from the standpoint of some little human form crouching there, who doesn’t see much beyond the end of his nose. The human form is handy; we need it; but we need all the other levels of our incarnation as well, in order that there may be an adequate capacity of incarnation to accommodate US as Angels.

We do not accommodate our worlds merely on the basis of our physical forms. Of course not! How could we? But we are able to encompass our worlds because of all the levels of this machinery of incarnation; and because we ourselves as Angels are capable of using these facilities of incarnation—and they are sufficient to do what needs to be done. Let us not accuse the Lord of making us inadequately. That is what happens when a person says, “Well, I am inadequate.” He is saying, “Lord, you should have made me much more than I am.” The Lord made each of us of sufficient magnitude! Insofar as our facilities of incarnation are concerned we can encompass whatever is needful. That’s the fact of the matter—we should acknowledge it, and not try to shrink down into our little physical forms, oh so humbly!

And yet, of course, it is not a matter of arrogance either, is it? It’s not a matter of brashness. There has been a certain amount of this within the scope of our Emissary experience—a foolish brashness. No, we don’t make a display of what we imagine to be our great magnitude; we let the facts speak for themselves—and they do incidentally! And by the way, we don’t need anyone else to blow us up to size. If I am speaking of these things now, it is not because I am trying to operate a bicycle pump and blow you up to size. I am simply speaking of the way things are. We better align ourselves with the way things are, rather than denying the way things are and insisting upon the way things aren’t. This is what most people do. They feel so insignificant that they have constantly to be inflating themselves to make it seem as though they have some significance and some authority. But how quickly the bubble bursts, doesn’t it! Just a little pin-prick will do it.

We have size, magnitude, in the sense of the machinery of incarnation, sufficient to handle the incarnation—and we begin to know these things; we begin to function from the standpoint of this awareness. Most people, when they look at the time when Jesus was arrested and subjected to all the indignities to which He was—most people look at that physical form; that’s all they see. Well, certainly something was happening to the physical form, but was that all that there was to Him? There was something so tremendous standing there, that completely dwarfed the physical form, and what was happening to the physical form in that sense was quite insignificant to the machinery of incarnation, because of this Great Form that was present there, and knows there, by the One who was incarnate. Do you suppose it was so very difficult to permit that physical form to experience what was called resurrection? One could almost say it could be done with one hand tied behind one’s back.

We need to have a consciousness of our real capacity, not merely of that little thimble which is seen by human nature consciousness. We don’t need to boost our egos to make it seem as though we are something which we are not, because the Truth is right there—and we become aware of it as our expression begins to sound the Tone of Life continuously. Then we find that Tone reverberating in far more than our physical form. It reverberates through this vaster form which is actually present, and which is being fleshed out as there is the generation of substance. I commented that there was considerable substance present during the time when you were each speaking here in turn—because each one who came up here brought far more than his physical form. There had been far more substance generated which fills out something much bigger, and we all have a sense of substance, we say—of largeness, really. It isn’t just something hollow. We are not looking at a bigger form—we say, “Oh yes, there are seven levels; that form must be considerable—but if it has no substance, if it’s just hollow, it doesn’t mean much. But because there is the generation of substance, then this form—this larger form—begins to have increasing meaning, and we sense it with each other.

But the One who incarnates is greater than the facility of incarnation. In fact, the facility of incarnation seems to become less—even though it is so great, just simply looking at it from the outer viewpoint. It becomes less as the Angel comes forth through it, because the Angel is so much greater. And we find that individually speaking, we all blend together in the larger form which is vast in the external sense. We think of the numbers of people in the world as being great, and the body of mankind as being vast compared to what it was 500 years ago—but it’s a drop in the bucket compared to the True Stature of Man. But that True Stature of Man is absent—there is just a space there where it should be. But as we allow, in this Body, the generation of the substance that fills out the true stature of this Body, then the stature of this Body is far greater than the stature of mankind the way it is now—and because of this we are quite capable of handling whatever needs to be done in this rather small sphere of responsibility.

We are no longer so impressed with numbers. This is what impresses people, isn’t it—numbers—numbers of people, very often numbers of dollars. We are impressed by something different. It isn’t numbers, because as far as we are concerned there is just One—and that is sufficient. That’s all that is needed. We see all these numbers of isolated people in the world, composing what is supposed to be the body of mankind, but that is very small potatoes from the Angelic standpoint, because there is One who is much greater. We are not overly impressed with respect to the numbers participating in this ministry. One of the questions that we are often asked is, “Well, how many are there in your program?” I suppose we have difficulty in answering because the fact of the matter is there is only One—there is only One, and to most people one would not be very impressive. But when that One is seen for Who He is, and when His Body of incarnation is seen for what it is, that is greater and more vast than all the rest of the population of the world put together. Of course, they’re not put together! They are all scattered abroad, and there is very little substance, obviously. The evidence of the substance being present—the True substance—is Oneness. If there isn’t Oneness there is not much substance. Mention was made of the United Nations this morning. There is not much substance there, is there—because there is no cohesiveness. There is no Oneness. It is all separateness; people jockeying for position, jockeying for position as individuals and also in representation of nations. Is that so great to us? We acknowledge the fact that it’s there.

But what we see as being great is the One—the One Whom we love above all—not only from the standpoint of what He is, but from the standpoint of His Body of incarnation on earth, because this is fleshing out. Usually when those words are used it is thought of in terms of more people. I am not thinking of it in those terms at the moment—no doubt there will be more people—but more substance, more spiritual substance generated by the people who are present now. This is the important thing. If we have that substance, and there is Oneness of the Body, then the sound of the Tone can reverberate through that Body and it will have effect upon those who are open to be affected.

We have a responsibility for the sounding of this Tone collectively speaking, and this is done in many ways—but one of them is in the extension of the sounding of that Tone in a peripheral sense. Not that we moved anywhere—we stand where we are and sound the Tone, but that Tone will sound right out to the periphery of whatever substance we have, and there are those who will be more responsible on the periphery just as there are those who are more responsible at the Core. But it’s all One Body anyway. You can’t separate the Core from the periphery. If the Core could be separated from the periphery then there would be a corpse, wouldn’t there? That’s what happens in the individual experience. We are interested in the True experience, not in the human nature experience.

It could be said, in one sense, that we believe in the resurrection of the Body. That’s one of the statements in the Christian creed, isn’t it? The resurrection of the Body—we believe in it because we are it. We are not looking at some body over there. It’s right here where we are.  This is the Body! This is the blood. This is the living form—not only physical form, with just a few people, but a form composed of substance, far more than flesh substance, and yet it is not separate from the flesh substance—it simply extends through it and beyond it. And in this sense there is a heavenly giant present on earth. We need to have a strong awareness of this so that we never shrink into a state of uselessness. We do not lay claims to anything as individuals, but we honor and respect the Body.

The Body of the Archangel, we have called this Body. We would never, in anything that we do, or say, or think, or feel as individuals detract from that Body. Our concern is that there should be the generation of more and more substance, that it may be filled out at all levels; not merely trying to grab more and more people, as though that was going to make it great. It isn’t that, that makes it great. It is the quality and quantity of substance that makes it great. The stature is vertical more than horizontal. (Even human beings are a little concerned when their stature begins to be more horizontal than vertical.) Let us have a vision of magnitude—the magnitude of what we are in this One Body. It is vast, entirely capable of handling everything that needs to be handled.

The population of the world is incapable of functioning together. Well, we can take advantage of the principle then—divide and conquer—because that which is to be conquered is already divided; we don’t have to divide it. There may be configurations in that body where a certain amount of substance has been developed in various ways to allow that particular configuration to function in a manner that seems to be quite powerful in the human nature world. But how do you think that stacks up against the Body of the Archangel? Obviously, such substance as may be generated beyond the physical substance—it’s mostly physical substance, numbers of people—but such substance as may be generated beyond that only goes to a very limited level, perhaps what we might call the psychological level.

Where does our substance stop? It goes, presumably, to any level, and we are concerned that there should be a sufficiency in this regard at every level. Then it becomes easy to handle these seeming giants in the land, who are pretty dense up here, who have no idea really what they are doing, clumsily maneuvering around, trying to crush opposition by falling on it. That’s about it, isn’t it? Well, we’re nimble on our feet, and if anyone tries to fall on us they may find we’re simply not there. There is great agility in the Body of the Archangel—agility and grace, grace and stature—and capability beyond anything that the human mind ever thought of.

In this sense we see clearly that as the Body is there, as the substance is there, we have it made. Insofar as the Lord is concerned, there is no problem, no problem at all. But let us be convinced in our earthly consciousness in that regard, so that we may share what is present. It has often been said that all the provision essential has already been made. We begin to discover that it is the fact of the matter, not just a nice theory! But of course, all of us as individuals have something to do. “Behold I come quickly”—and this is so when we let that coming be quick, because we function on the basis of the true vision which accepts the true responsibility, and which thereby lets the coming be quick.

If we move quickly, then those who are going to share the movement with us will move quickly too. They don’t have to go through all the rigmarole that may been necessary, for some of us at least, to get us on the road, so to speak. Those old methods don’t apply any more. I was commenting to a few at the table recently, that there are those servers who are continually offering introductory material. Introduction has been made long ago—long, long ago! Why drag that forward? It’s completely unnecessary. It is used by those who do not have confidence in what is moving now. They have confidence in their concept of the past. As I pointed out, there are all kinds of people who come to the services in the Dome Chapel who have never been to a service before. If I reverted every Sunday to introductory material, where would we be! It is introductory material at this level now, and those who have any openness of heart, they’ll move right along with it. They will see what is offered at their own level of experience. Let us all have confidence in this, so that we can move with the Spirit now, with what is current now. Behold I come quickly, like this! That’s the way it works. We don’t have to try to paint everybody with the same brush with which we were painted. We may have been dumb, but why lay that on everybody else? That would be rather a self-centered attitude, wouldn’t it? Anyone who is going to come to the Lord must come through all the rigmarole that we went through. Nonsense! If we’ve done it, that’s enough. We leave all that behind, and come quickly. And as we come quickly, so will others—all on the basis of the sounding of the Tone of Life now, through the Body as it is now.

It is never one individual doing anything. Anything that is done is done by the whole Body, and in fact it is done by the Archangel, who is incarnate, and that isn’t a little thing. That is tremendous, and we need to be assured—because we ourselves accept responsibility in the matter—of the magnitude of that expression. We stay put in the Body of the Archangel and all that is needful to be dealt with will come to us. We handle it intelligently, with dispatch. Behold I come quickly.

So this is the conclusion of these Sessions that we have shared in this particular configuration, but we’re not going anyplace. We stay put. We are all part of the same body, and you each carry that brilliance of Light wherever you may be, and it is this that continues the cycles of resurrection for this Body—transforming the Body, transmuting the Body, so that it may be a whole, adequate instrument for the incarnation of the Archangel and the achievement of the Archangelic purposes. Let us in this moment share a closing devotion.

Our great LORD and KING, we are humbly grateful for the Commission which Thou hast placed in our hands, first by reason of our incarnation on earth, and then by reason of the creative cycles unfolding by which we are enabled to play our part in the fulfillment of Thy purposes on earth. We are aware in this moment of the magnitude of what is present, with which we are ourselves are associated, that the living form of this Body may rise up, assuming responsibility with ease and naturalness, that doing all that needs to be done there is no question but that this shall come to pass, because there is the acceptance in love for Thee, by us and many others, of responsibility, in the assurance of absolute adequacy, by which Thy Will may be done in earth and it is in heaven, and by which Thy Kingdom comes, for Thine is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory, now and forever. Aumen.

Let The Waters Under The Heaven Be Gathered Together

Let  The  Waters  Under  The  Heaven

Be  Gathered  Together

Martin Cecil   January 11, 1978

Events which occur within the range of our field of responsibility, all in the realm of effects, are given meaning because there are angels present providing the unique quality of spiritual expression. We may well be impressed with the nature of things as they are in this humanly produced world, the striving of human ego with human ego, each claiming to have the best one. But what does it all matter? Our concern in every field is to set a right precedent, whether it be with respect to music or finance or education or any other field of distorted human endeavor. The only way we can do this is by coming as angels; then we may use the opportunities that present themselves according to our several abilities in the external sense. But only as angels can we do this. The gathering here this week, and the gatherings which occur in other places at other times, have meaning to the extent that they are gatherings of angels who are identified with Cause and who are not all involved with the realm of effects.

We might be reminded of the third day of creation, when God said, “Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place.” Here is the basis for any gathering of angels, related to any field of endeavor. “Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place.” We are aware of the symbolism of water, the truth. Let the truth that is present in the consciousness of those concerned be gathered together unto one place in the realm of Cause—under the heaven. The heaven is the realm of Cause insofar as this dimensional world is concerned. We may see water as relating to the substance of human consciousness. Let the pure water be gathered together unto one place, pure because it is under the heaven, because what is present in the realm of Cause is operative in the substance of consciousness. Pure water, symbolically, is the true condition of the human consciousness—very palatable, very refreshing, very valuable in the creative processes. So in any of our gatherings the concern is to let the pure waters be gathered together unto one place for angelic use, the pure water of consciousness unadulterated by the structures of human ego.

We may observe something here relative to a far wider field than any particular aspect of consideration that may be coming to point by reason of the gathering of angels. We have observed how a creative process has been working out in the world over many centuries, working out on the basis of what is required for re-creation. Obviously the earth doesn't need to be created, but the world which human beings have produced on earth must be transformed into the world of God; so a creative process is at work to permit this to be so. It is observable in various ways. In the creative process darkness is always the starting point—the state of the world's darkness is necessarily the starting point.

In this creative process which we are considering the initiation occurred by reason of Abraham long ago. The word to be spoken was the Word of God. “God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” There is no other way by which what is required may be brought forth; only through the Word of God. The Word of God must rightly be spoken at the level where the bringing forth is to occur, and so there was the necessity for a facility to be generated by which the Word of God might be spoken at the level of the darkness that was present in the consciousness of mankind. That facility came by reason of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob; the sons of Jacob, Joseph particularly; and later Moses. The word of God was spoken, the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters: “Let there be light: and there was light.” The light was present with the people, particularly by reason of Moses, but the light was not protected and preserved. The ideas of men about the light were apparently carefully protected and preserved—but the light itself, no. All concerned never emerged out of the realm of effects and their identification with it, but the light had been brought, the Word of the Lord had been spoken, and there was light present therefore. We recognize this to be so.

We have considered much out of the record of the Old Testament and been keenly aware of the brilliance of the light that was shining. There it is! But it has been well covered up by the doctrines of men, particularly by reason of the Judaic tradition. However, the creative cycle was initiated and moving, even though there was scarcely anyone associated with it until the Lord Himself came, so that the Word might be spoken, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters.” The firmament was called heaven. The good news was, “The kingdom of heaven is at hand.” This was indeed the Gospel which was brought on earth by the Lord incarnate in human form. So the seed of heaven was added to the seed of light. And now in these days God says, “Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place.”

We recognize this as being the Word of the Lord now, spoken into the consciousness of mankind, that whatever is true in that consciousness may be gathered together unto one place. We have seen this as being the purpose of this ministry. You and others have been gathered together unto this one place, to the extent that you have, because the Word of God has been spoken, “Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place.” It has been spoken at the level of human consciousness. The waters, present in the consciousness of human beings everywhere, which are influenced by the heaven, have been and are being stirred by reason of the Word that is spoken. You have come in response to the command, spoken unconsciously insofar as you are concerned: Let the waters be gathered together unto one place. The waters come and you came. Your selfhood came along with the waters. Those who come to the Lord come because they are compelled to do so, not because they really chose to do so. You came in spite of your human egos, not ever because of them. So do not take any credit to your human ego self for the fact that you may have drawn a little closer to the Lord.

The Word of the Lord has been spoken within the consciousness of mankind and something has happened to that consciousness in consequence. We are concerned for the waters which are being gathered together. We delight to behold the waters being gathered together, and incidentally we rejoice that a few people come along too. They come along in spite of themselves, simply because the commandment of God is obeyed by the waters under the heaven; that is, the substance of human consciousness—these are the waters below the heaven—the substance of human consciousness which is open to the influence of the heaven which was established in the second day of creation. So we would not be here if it were not for the fact of that second day, and the second day would not have occurred if it had not been for the fact of the first day. Even though human beings have behaved badly, rejecting consciously virtually everything that was brought to them, nevertheless the power of God operates with absolute inevitability, once the Word is spoken at the level of operation. It was spoken in the First Day at the level of operation; it was spoken in the Second Day at the level of operation; it is spoken in the Third Day at the level of operation, and so the waters are in the process of being gathered together unto one place.

We may see this on the large scale. We may also see it from the standpoint of the smaller groupings of angels that may occur. We have one here now. We have one here now relative to this immediate gathering, and the Word is spoken: Let the waters be gathered together unto one place. This is obeyed when those waters are under the heaven; that is, under the influence of the realm of Cause. Then there begins to be the experience, individually speaking, of emerging out of identification with the realm of effects, and it doesn't matter particularly whether those effects are thought of as being good effects or bad effects. The experience needs to come out of identification with those effects, that there may be angels present incarnate on earth.

“Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place.” This is the Word of God spoken now on earth. There are increasing numbers who begin to share in that speaking. The speaking is a reality by reason of the expression of life—the real quality and character of life is the Word of God on earth. “Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear.” It is because the waters of consciousness present in you are being gathered together unto one place that your bodies came along. “Let the dry land appear.” It isn't a matter of saying, “Let the dry land appear and then we will have some waters of consciousness to gather together.” It doesn't work that way. We can't drum up business on the basis of the dry land. It is a matter of the gathering together of the waters, and this requires the Word of God to be spoken at the level where the gathering is to take place. It is happening. We have experience of its happening, both from the standpoint of how our own consciousnesses have been gathered together over the years and from the standpoint of speaking the Word ourselves by which it occurs in others. We observe the occurrence in others rather more easily than we observe it in ourselves.

So we rejoice in this Third Day of Creation, relating of course to what has been called the Third Sacred School. If we see it on the large scale as happening with respect to the whole body of mankind we also see it on the small scale, particularly with respect to our various gatherings where angels are present, where therefore the creative Word may be spoken. Let the pure water be present. Let the waters be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear. There is a certain amount of dry land visible here simply because the waters have been gathered together unto one place. It has worked within the scope of our own experience. Of course merely to have the waters and the dry land is not the be-all and end-all of creation. Something occurs by reason of the fact that there has been a gathering together of the waters under the heaven and because the dry land has appeared. It is described in the story of creation: “And God said"—again, nothing happens without the Word of God—“And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.”

Obviously it was necessary that the dry land should appear, for anything to be done. All concerned who are now here gathered in this configuration were wherever they were before. Their consciousness was there; their physical form was there. If that was all that was necessary then there would be no need for this gathering. It is necessary for the dry land to be present: if the waters are gathered together unto one place then the dry land also is in one place. Because the dry land is in one place, whether with respect to that original gathering or with respect to this gathering this morning, something can happen because of it, something that couldn't happen if the dry land wasn't a fact—if the physical forms of people were not present. It is because the physical forms of people are present by reason of the fact that the waters have been gathered together that there may be a further speaking of the Word of God. “And God said, Let the earth bring forth.” I don't think you would be very effective if it were possible for you to be present here merely in consciousness—no physical forms. What on earth would we do? Well we wouldn't do anything on earth. But because the physical forms are present something can be done, something can be brought forth. The bringing forth occurs by reason of the dry land, but the dry land is there by reason of the gathering together of the waters. Everything must be in place; then there is a bringing forth.

But the bringing forth as it is described here, as grass and herbs and fruit trees, is not a manipulative bringing forth. It is something which simply occurs by reason of the fact that the Word of God is spoken. Particular emphasis is placed upon the fact, as it is put here: “whose seed is in itself.” The seed is present. We don't have to build some sort of structure—in a service or in a gathering. The seed is there, the seed is present. The seed is perhaps hidden; in fact it is essential that the seed should be hidden if it is to germinate and bring forth. But if the seed is present the design is present, all that is to appear by reason of the seed is present; and it isn't bright manipulations that are going to bring forth what is needed. What is needed is already there. What is needed is that the Word of God should be spoken to animate what is already present, and the Word of God is spoken by the angel, not by the human mind.

Let the waters be gathered together unto one place, because they are under the heaven, because there is a yielding of consciousness to the control of Cause, so that the Word of God may be spoken; and the Word of God spoken brings forth by reason of the dry land, by reason of the physical facility which is present to do what needs to be done. But the bringing forth is always of what is already inherent—already present as a seed. The germination of the seed comes because of the Word of God. There must be the Word of God spoken if there is to be conception: spirit must be present. So it is in all our fields of responsibility.

These principles which are observable by the human mind are in operation in spite of the human mind. They do not need to be made to operate by the human mind. We have noted the creative days which have unfolded over the centuries—not certainly because of human beings but in spite of them—to bring us to this hour when the waters are indeed being gathered together insofar as the consciousness of mankind is concerned. And because of this many individual human egos find themselves moving in certain ways which usually they rationalize to indicate how wise they have been to move in those ways. But it had nothing to do with the human ego. What occurred occurred in spite of that, because the Word of God had been spoken and the waters were being gathered together. And if there are waters under the influence of the heaven in us as individuals, well those waters are going to be gathered together and we find ourselves being yanked along; but let us not assume that anything is happening because of the human ego. There needs to be a willingness to let what is happening happen, and to the extent that there is a willingness to let it happen the human ego fades away. That's the easy way.

There begins to emerge a sense of identity with Cause. We find ourselves in the heaven and we operate in the heaven. Heaven and earth are one, so we operate on earth as well; but our base of operations is in the heaven. We do not any longer see things merely from the standpoint of the realm of effects. As the waters are gathered together unto one place there is a rising up; there is resurrection. Our meaning is as angels and for no other reason at all. We may have a little bit of talent here or there in the external sense which can be used to advantage, but in comparison to the fact of the angel none of that amounts to anything. There is nothing that an angel cannot use and use to advantage, but the angel must be consciously present if the Word of the Lord is to be spoken.

As we share this time together now perhaps you have a certain awareness of the heaven—a realm of action, activity, creative expression, which is unmixed with the realm of effects. Our value is angelic, and the angel has spiritual discernment. We have the privilege of sharing an increased consciousness of this as angels as we move together in the already moving creative cycle. We don't have to make it move; it is moving. We can either disassociate ourselves from it or we can accept it as our own. Accepting it as our own we move with it and, because we may then share the Word of God on earth, we play our part in the gathering together of the waters unto one place. This is what we are here to do primarily—Come unto me. “Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place.” And to the extent that this is done the dry land appears, the physical form becomes apparent, as it is apparent here this morning. But you are all here physically speaking only because the waters under the heaven have been gathered together to this extent. We share the responsibility of speaking the creative command, as angels, in our living moment by moment. This is what we are on earth to do, because we love God, we love the Lord, and are becoming increasingly aware of the reason for our presence on earth.

Man With God — The Vibrational Sphere

We have begun a series of meditations on the subject of the Magic of Creation. Tonight I suggest that we continue that basic theme, with special attention to its relationship to man, or mankind, and therefore its relationship to us tonight—from the 2nd chapter of Genesis, the 1st verse: “Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.” Outside of this reference, which is most significant, we hear nothing about keeping the Seventh Day, or the Sabbath, or having a particular day of rest, until the time when the children of Israel were wandering in the wilderness and the Ten Commandments were given at Mt. Sinai. In all this interval the subject is ignored, and yet during that interval there were many who were very closely related to God, as was Enoch, for instance: “He walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” Yet here the point is emphasized: God rested from the work which He had made, on the Seventh Day.

The Seventh Day is the Seventh Cycle, or period, or step, in the outworking of the life of man. Now in the Divine State, reaching the Seventh Day would mean something quite different from our present circumstance. In the Divine State, when the seven cycles were completed, that meant that the individual had completed his purpose in life on earth for that particular incarnation. Whether it took seven hundred years or seven thousand years was beside the point; the cycles of outworking leading to ascension were seven in number, depending upon the individual and the pattern of being, the purpose on earth. We have recognized that in relationship to fallen man the seven cycles of the seven days, or seven periods, lead to the restoration of man to the Divine Estate of Oneness, that we may come to that place of consciousness where we may experience what the Master spoke of as Oneness. He pointed out that He and His Father were One, and in His closing expression of ministry He gave that great prayer—in the 17th chapter of John it is recorded—and He prayed “that they all might be one as we are”; that those who should follow Him and let His Body take form and have meaning on earth might truly be One, even as He and the Father were One. The attainment of that state of Oneness is that which we experience on the Seventh Day, when we cease all self-activity and come to rest in the Lord, so that from that time onward we are functioning on a basis of Oneness. God rested from the work which He had made, in the sense of His work without regard to the work of God being made manifest through man. The period of Oneness, of correlation between Creator and creation through Oneness with the Crowning Creation, was supposed to be the Sabbath rest.

Man has allowed his awareness of these basic principles of Being to degenerate into the idea of keeping a day; but the Sabbath in the true sense is not something that can be kept merely by setting aside one day a week to cease physical labors in the ordinary human sense and then go back to physical labors in a self-active pattern on Monday morning. No man or woman keeps the Sabbath—I care not what the religion, I care not what day the human being seeks to keep—no man or woman keeps the Sabbath until he or she has attained to the day of rest; which is to say Oneness with God on earth, so that from that time on self-activity ceases and the Divine Pattern of function is made manifest from there on, twenty-four hours a day, day in and day out without limit, keeping the Sabbath. For the true day of rest is the cessation of self-activity; rest in the Lord, Oneness that is attained when we truly follow our LORD and KING and let His prayer be answered so that His Kingdom comes in us, His control or dominion is established in us and through us, and we attain to that Oneness of which He spoke so many times. This then is the Sabbath rest for man in this present state of things. But once that Sabbath rest has been attained, a new week begins, a new cycle of outworking in the achievement of the purpose for which that human being came into the world—and in that new week he does not function self-actively; he lets the works of God be done so that man is doing God's work.

When God first created mankind, God ended His works in the direct sense of creative action so that man could begin the works of God. But this human beings have failed to recognize and realize. God's work was done in the sense of direct action on earth, but God's work was not done in the sense of the work of God which was supposed to appear through mankind. So we see how it is that since the fall of man there has been a failure to let that Seventh Day have any meaning, that day of rest. Man has failed for twenty thousand years to enter into the Sabbath rest. The Seventh Day has had no meaning—a symbol has no meaning the moment it is disassociated in consciousness from that which is symbolized. We have many symbols which we must use in the interval of transition and resurrection, but a symbol ceases to have meaning the very moment it is disassociated in consciousness from that which is symbolized. And that which is symbolized is the day of rest, when man ceases his self-activity and begins to let Divine Activity be made manifest on earth because man lives on earth. We have recognized something of the pattern of these cycles and their relationship to the Four Forces. When we reach a point of being with one accord in one place, in agreement on earth as touching all of these things, then something wonderful and beautiful is going to happen. How soon shall it be?

“These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.” It is interesting to note at this point that there was no rain on the face of the whole earth until the time that is spoken of … well there was the beginning of something more or less like rain after the submersion of Lemuria, the Motherland; but until the time of the flood, or the submersion of Atlantis, there was comparatively little rain, and none at all until the submersion of the Motherland. Why? The larger portion of the earth's surface was land; the water was nearer to the surface of the land underneath. In other words the water level was very high. During the day the sun's rays drew the moisture up into the atmosphere, and at night, the cool of the day, that condensed and came down again on the earth's surface as dew, and this action of the dew upon the face of the earth provided all the moisture that was necessary. There were some few clouds, but no heavy dark ones; there were lovely clouds, but they evaporated in the air itself with the fluctuations of the atmosphere. But no rain—no rain was needed. Actually rain as we know it is an unnatural thing, something that was not originally designed for this earth.

“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” There is the 7th verse of the 2nd chapter of Genesis: “… and man became a living soul. And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden.” Eden is the whole earth, and eastward in Eden is in the days of our tomorrows. That we might do what? “… and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.”

There is something else I wish to bring to your attention. “And a river went out of Eden to water the garden.” Notice the wording: “And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; And the gold of that land is good … And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.” Of these four rivers there is only one on the face of the earth today that carries one of these names—the Euphrates. Four rivers. But there is one river that went out of Eden, out of the earth, to water the Garden; and this one river divides into four heads, so that there are four rivers. Now is this not the reverse of what we ordinarily think? The tributaries of a great river feed the river, so that whether it be four rivers coming together into one, or whatever other number—the various branches, brooks, larger streams, until finally the rivers—they all come together and form one river. But here is a river that, according to the wording in the allegory here, had one trunk as the source of it and divided into four rivers and went somewhere; these four branches extended into various parts of the earth. But notice that it came out of Eden to water the Garden. “And a river went out of Eden to water the garden.” As we think of these four rivers we must surely be reminded of the Four Forces—One River—and water is what? Truth. One Truth, which has a division into four primary patterns, four parts. And this river comes out of the earth to water the Garden which God planted eastward in Eden. This that was in the Garden eastward in Eden was formed, and then it was caused, or supposed to be caused, to manifest. At first it was—gradually it took form according to the patterns established in the Garden eastward in Eden. But this river came out of Eden to water the Garden. Water we know to be the symbol of Truth, and here we have the river, and it divides into four heads as it moves from its source. These four heads are the Four Forces of the creative cycles of Being.

Man has sought in times past to understand something of the creative processes of Being but he has failed to seek first the Kingdom, the realm of control, and the wisdom necessary to function in the Kingdom. He has tried to discover something of the laws and principles of creation so that he could apply them himself, for his own purposes, to satisfy his own desires; and he has discovered much. Being loosed in the bottomless pit of knowledge, he has discovered so much, but he still fails to comprehend the basic principles of the Creative Life, and the Magic of Creation by reason of which we may begin to know the Magic of Living. And here we have the Four Forces. We have recognized that these Four Forces divide up into particularized patterns, but when we speak of them in their segregated sense, what are we talking about? We are talking about the Truth—the Truth, which is the design factor plus the control factor. So one remains as it was, Water; the second was Air; the third, Earth; and the fourth, Fire. We will notice that Fire is the symbol of Love, as also is Gold. Gold is used throughout the Bible in a symbolical manner, and the first river is that which “compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; and the gold of that land is good.”

Now these four rivers are pictured in relationship to four sections of the earth—which is a somewhat degenerate pattern—but in any case, in relationship to four lands or four spheres, four places for living; or we might say four sections of the earth. In relationship to what? In relationship to the Garden which God planted eastward in Eden. But the initial purpose indicated for this river is that it should water the Garden which God planted eastward in Eden. Now we know that no flowing river of water, as we think of a river, could water a Garden which remains yet in the invisible realm, in the days of our tomorrows. It could not be. But once we begin to comprehend the great significance of the beautiful symbolism here, it ceases to be merely a few words with little meaning, contained in an allegorical story. It begins to take on rich significance and tremendous value for us here tonight. The truth was supposed to flow out of the earth to water the Garden which God planted eastward in Eden, something which was yet to come into manifestation, something from the invisible realms. This is clearly indicated in the wording of the previous text which I read to you: “And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew.” That's what it says: “These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew.”

And then the Lord God formed man. We have recognized that God formed all of these things in the Garden before He created man, but they were not yet in form as we know them today. It was not until after man himself was created that the things that God had created in the Garden were given form on earth. They were given form, they were created, from the standpoint of the Garden which God created eastward in Eden, that it might come on earth and take form. But that process of giving form to the grass of the field, every plant of the field and the herbs of the field, did not take place until after man was created.

The creative pattern was established in the Garden, and that was a creation just as surely as any creation can be a creation. The difference is that man has presumed that all of these things were established on earth just as we know them today, before man was created. God did create all of these things before He created man, but then in the process of creating man He established man on earth and used man as the focalization of a creative field established in the future, by reason of which all of these things that had been created in the Garden of Eden might be given form on earth. I grant you that there is not too much here in the record to specifically, in the ordinary sense, support that, but there are some peculiar wordings which, if they are to be conceived to have any significance, cause one to stop and think. This 5th verse in the 2nd chapter of Genesis: “And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew.” Now what does that mean? I know what it means, but I cannot give you a great deal of material here as evidence. You can draw your own conclusions. Then in the 7th verse we have the statement: “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.”

Everything that God had created up to that point was in the Garden of Eden, yet to be given form in the outer sense. The Lord God finished His work, and the work of Man in Oneness with God began. And in relationship to this we have the Four Forces, which are manifestations, four distinct aspects of manifestation for the Truth of design and control. I have pointed to design and control as aspects of the Truth. Now you can begin to see the Four Forces as aspects of the Truth. They issue out of the Truth, the river which was designed to water the Garden which God planted eastward in Eden. This perhaps suggests to you that you do not yet know everything there is to know; that we need to take the next step and continue on, so that we can come to the Seventh Day. [greatcosmicstory.blogspot.com/2017/10/not-from-i-love-you-lord-martin-cecil.html]

In the days of the disciples, at the time of the Master, they let the first part, just the first dawn of the Fourth Day, come into manifestation and then they lost the cycle, they lost the pattern; they fell out of the design and the rest did not come into manifestation. They got to the dawn of the Fourth Day. We are in the dawn of the Third Day. Now this next day does not have to be very long, in this sense, for it to really begin to manifest and for us to come to the dawn of the Fourth Day. For remember what I told you: All Four Forces are always in operation, but in each cycle one is dominant. Do not imagine that you can divide any one of the four from the other three. You cannot. They are all part of One River. They are all part of one thing. They are the revelation of truth with respect to the Four Forces, or aspects of creative action.

We have in times past touched upon the point of wisdom. “If any man lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.” We talk about desiring to receive something of the Lord, and yet man has ignored the processes divinely designed and ordained, by which man might receive something from the Lord. That which is to come from the Lord must come out of the Garden that is planted eastward in Eden. There is no other way. We either receive it out of the Garden eastward in Eden, through the days of our tomorrows, or we do not receive it. You cannot receive something of the Lord, in the sense of that which is to take form in Life in this moment, after the moment is here. The contact must be with the future pattern that is given form through you in the moment, but the contact cannot be just in the moment. You cannot in this present moment, without regard to the future, receive something from the Lord. You have to live in the present with your proper contact with the future, and let that which is of the future come into manifestation with the leading edge of the present moment, so that it may take form on earth. That is the way by which man allowed as many of the things of God to come forth on earth as he did—the grass, the herbs of the field, the animals, the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, all the rest. Remember that in the creative cycle, out of the water God created the fish of the sea and the fowl of the air. Water is the symbol of Truth, and all of this was still in the vibrational sphere, in the Garden which God planted eastward in Eden, after the creation of man. And God said, “Let us make man [or mankind] in our image, after our likeness.” And so God did: “Male and female created he them.”

Now the Four Forces are part of One River, the River of Truth. The Truth of Love itself—whether you think of it as the Gold of the land of Havilah, or the Fire that burns, or whatever other term you may wish to use; that which IS—cannot have meaning except as it is given form and a name. And how shall even God's Love have a means of manifestation, a name and a form, except by reason of the Truth? It is only as you gain an understanding of the Truth about Love that you can begin to truly know Love. “And he shall lead you into all truth.” “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free,” with respect to God's Love, with respect to all things whatsoever. How can we be free? By trying to change that which is already manifest? Or by remembering that the things that God created prior to the creation of man were all in the Garden which God planted eastward in Eden? The herbs of the field were not yet growing in the earth. “And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew.” It was through man, after man was created, that all of these things—the vegetable kingdom, birds and fish and animals and all the rest—were given form, coming out of the Garden which God planted eastward in Eden. And as that was allowed to have manifestation, by reason of man's function with God, that was established on earth in relationship to the patterns of life on earth.

Later it is mentioned that all of the creatures which God had made were caused to pass by man and man named them. Remember? Did it not ever seem to you to be a bit strange that God created all these creatures and presumably had them running everywhere on the face of the earth, and then, after God made man, man was caused to stand, as it were, in a certain place and all these creatures lined up and came by in single file and man named them? Isn't that a ridiculous picture, the way you might ordinarily think of it? What does it mean? How did man name them? It was man's function that caused them to pass out of the Garden that God planted eastward in Eden, past man into the earth. They were given form by reason of man's sharing of God's creative action. Now later on, when man first fell, this power was still inherent in man; he had not completely separated himself from it. He was trying to get some of these things out of the Garden into the earth and he distorted them, and we have some creatures on earth that God did not intend to manifest as they do—man's failures in relationship to letting the things of God come out of the east, out of the Garden into manifest form. If we begin to see this, begin to comprehend something of it, we must begin to recognize that whether it be a flower, or whatever it was in the beginning of things, that took form on earth under man's hand, God created it and established it, but it was not yet in the earth. “And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew.”

So we see that it was man's business, having dominion on earth, the manifestation of God's power, it was through man that all of these things took form on earth, without any exception, no matter what it was. And this river went out from the earth to water the Garden. Now the Garden is eastward in Eden—man's function in relationship to the Truth. Man was doing something from the standpoint of the earth, in oneness with God of course, while God was doing something from the standpoint of the invisible. And it was at the point of contact, in relationship to visible and invisible, that the forming began to appear, so that that which was of the invisible could be established in the earth. All of this worked out on the basis of Four Forces, four aspects of Truth, from the standpoint of design and control; for the control and design aspect is present with respect to the Four Heads of the River of the Water of Truth. And once we begin to function in relationship to the Four Forces, we begin to have wisdom. Wisdom—the sense of the fitness of things. That is to say we begin to have an awareness of how things should fit together, what their cycles are, what their seasons are, and how they can manifest. So it is our part to let the creative work of God in the invisible realms have meaning in the visible realm on earth, to share that creative work of God now and forever.

To whatever degree we function correctly in relationship to the days of our tomorrows there is a healing, recreative process in the body. It does not appear after the moment has come; it is coming to us from out of the east, and if we have a sense of the fitness of things, wisdom, we begin to function correctly because we know the truth. We eat what we should, we breathe the air as we should, we have the exercise that we should. We do all the things that we should do in order to let this come out of the east into us and through us. Here we begin to have a little glimpse, if we will but receive it, of the creative principle, the true creative cycle, or the Magic of Creation. Once you begin to actually realize these things—you will not grasp it all in a moment—but the basic idea, the basic truth, the basic law and principle, you begin to be in position where you can the more readily let the waters be gathered into one place, let the divisions among you cease, so that you begin to have a true sense of the fitness of things on a unified basis; not conflict between each other but coordination with each other on a basis of that which is coming out of the east, if we will but receive it, so that that which is in the Garden may manifest on earth, and then the Garden will be on earth.

You will notice, “The Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground,” etc. That is the 7th verse. Then the 8th verse: And the Lord God planted a Garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.” And then the 9th verse: “And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.” The Lord God caused these things to be, but it is clearly indicated that it started coming out of the ground after the Lord God had formed man. The Lord God had created all these things up to man, prior to this, but they were in the Garden. “And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew.” Then, “The Lord God formed man.” And it was after that that the Lord God caused all of these things to grow out of the ground. “And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree,” etc. That is what it says, and once you begin to get the idea you see that man is essential for the manifestation of any creation of God, and that man shared in the manifestation of every creation of God that has ever appeared on earth. If any creation of God is to ever appear on earth, then man must share it. Man shared it, even in the sense of himself, because he himself was thereby made manifest. But man was the first thing to take form on earth as such.

If these things mean anything to us we should see the vital importance of letting it become an actual reality, letting the petty differences and frictions and difficulties vanish away in the face of a unified acceptance of a high, a sacred and a noble goal. Are we sufficiently mature, sufficiently noble as men and women, to let this be an actual reality so that we can begin to share the creative work of God on earth?
