The  One  I  Am  Speaks

from  With One Voice

Martin Exeter   December 15, 1985

How very simple the truth is. The changes which are in the process of putting in an appearance in and through human beings on earth spring out of what we have called the creative process. This springs out of heaven. It does so to the extent that there are those present in heaven on earth. This we ourselves have acknowledged as being the reason for our existence in the world.

Can I speak this evening in the first person, so that all of you speak with me in that first person, “I” in other words? I speak for myself. I can’t speak for you. You speak for yourself. But if my words in fact spring out of the heaven, spoken as they must be out of heaven in the first person: I am in heaven, and you share those words with me, then we speak together as one out of heaven. The One I am speaks. Our perspective together is a heavenly perspective. We may stand in heaven as angels, to speak through the tools and the equipment which are available to us individually: our own physical bodies, our own mental and emotional apparatus. These we may use to speak, to act, to do what we are here on earth to accomplish.

I stand in heaven—and these are rightly the words of each of you individually. I use these words so that you may use these words.

I stand in heaven and I stand on earth because I have the tools and the equipment to do so. These are for my use. They are exactly the way they are. This is no mistake. I chose to participate in the creation and the development of these tools and this equipment—my body, my mental and emotional apparatus. Obviously these tools and this equipment have hereditary conditioning. This is understood; it has been understood from the beginning. I know this. Over a number of years I have become quite familiar with some of the quirks and peculiarities of this hereditary equipment. These quirks and peculiarities are present and I certainly am not fooled by them. They are there for a purpose. These quirks and peculiarities are not divorced from the quirks and peculiarities of others. I know this; I have known this from the beginning.

I now speak these words and I trust you are speaking these words with me in relationship to your own quirks and peculiarities, your own tools and equipment. Stay with me!

These human facilities, characterized by human nature, took form over the years and are the only equipment and tools that we have. Certainly these are the only ones I have; that is true of each one. It is not a mistake. I have been present from the beginning. I have an awareness of these things, and human nature no longer is capable of obscuring my awareness of my world-as-it-is, and my ability to act in the world-as-it-is. I know, and have always known, in the present moment the truth of the matter. One can only know in the present moment. Here is the knowing. I know, in whatever the present moment may be, what it is that I should express or not express.

I trust I still speak for each one.

I cannot fool myself or let my mind and heart fool themselves that I don’t know. I do know. I do know exactly what the situation is in this present moment.

Are you still with me?

This is true of every moment. We speak of every moment but it is always the present one; it is always now. I know what is now. I know what is rightly to be expressed now. There may be other moments that occur along the way when I know there is nothing to be expressed, in words at least, in the present moment. Words, in fact, are a very small part of what it is that I express. I know the truth of the words emissary of divine light. I let my light shine. My tools and equipment are incapable of preventing that. There is a certain willingness present, developed over the years, which allows what needs to be expressed in the moment to be expressed. It is not a jerky thing. Words tend to be rather jerky—but the shining of the light is a continuous outpouring, whatever words may be, whatever it may be that is being done.

These incidentally are your words too. Let me remind you of this from time to time. I’m not just speaking for myself.

During the course of the years my equipment has learned certain skills. These skills and abilities of various sorts which have been acquired by the physical form, the mind and the emotions, are useful in various ways. These are not the reason why I am present on earth but they do provide a means by which the light may be allowed to shine, by which the Word may be spoken in living. If I had nothing to do there would simply be a blank, darkness. It is useful to have something to do, but we do not see these things, which are acquisitions of our tools and equipment, to be the reason why one is present. The reason why one is present is to know the truth in the moment and to let the light shine through the tools and equipment, regardless of what they are doing. The important factor is that there is an angel present in action on earth.

What I do by reason of my equipment and my tools is done as effectively as possible, but it doesn’t occupy my total attention. In one sense I do it on the side. My concern is to know the truth in the moment and to express what is necessary in the moment. This expression is spiritual expression. I stand up here now. You sit there. We do this quite successfully. I speak. I rest my hands on the lectern. I look around. My equipment is useful for all this. But there is something else above and beyond these obvious elements, even the words that I am speaking, that rightly finds expression and release. I give that expression.

Are you with me?—remembering always that the word “I” refers to each individual.

I speak, I know, in the moment. We’re in the present moment. I am present now. I am not present in the future. I am present now. I know now. Knowing now, there is an awareness of what the creative process is now, and because of that an awareness comes of what is unfolding. It is said that the spirit of truth calls to remembrance and shows you things to come. This is not intended to indicate that everybody indulges in prophecy according to the usual human concept of it, but if one is present in the creative cycle now one knows what the creative cycle is and one is aware of what it is that is unfolding. Obviously in that unfoldment what occurs will be dependent upon the way many human beings react.

As there are those who participate in this creative cycle to which I now have reference, then all concerned know what is necessary in the moment and all concerned are moving in the creative cycle. So what is emerging becomes more and more obvious. What emerges beyond those who are moving with the creative process, in a cooperative way shall we say, remains somewhat unknown, because who is going to react in what manner? Who is to say? But we begin to have a sure understanding and a sure confidence of what is occurring by reason of the presence of the One I am. We share this knowing. I know it.

There is only one "I”. We have been very busy trying to maintain separation; but in the expression, the differentiation, of the One, it is one that is being differentiated. We do not have a whole slew of separate, peculiar characters—just one, just one that is so vast that there is indeed the opportunity for virtually infinite differentiation. But it doesn’t change the fact of the one. In allowing the development of awareness of the One I am, personal experience changes.

I am the one who is here present to do something on earth which far transcends anything that any human being has thought of. We discover what that is in the moment. Nothing is ever done particularly to satisfy the desires of mind and heart. What is done is to express the Word, to let the light shine; that is the purpose. Anything else that is done in an external sense is quite incidental to that purpose. It’s important; we need to have something to do. Sweep away all the things that might need to be done and we’d have no way of letting the light shine. But what we do just simply has importance because it is, and provides a setting for the light to shine. If the light is shining, what we do in that setting will be effective and we’ll be able to do it now. We’ll be able to do it now for a hundred years if necessary; or, we do it now and we do something else in a minute.

At last we begin to have the experience in our earthly minds and hearts of being the angel. I am present. I do what needs to be done. In the earthly sense I have no ambitions at all. I don’t want to achieve anything. It’s all a waste of time. But I am here to do something that has never been done before, and that is only why I’m here. When you know that for yourself you know the truth of yourself. But as long as there are things on the side, things you want to do this way or that way, you remain useless. So I am here. My responsibility in the moment is clear as crystal.
Are you with me?

I do not concern myself particularly with the future, but taking care of what I know now, I know something of what is going to occur in the future because it springs out of what I am doing now; but that’s not what I know. I know what I am doing now. I simply have some sort of an awareness of what it is that is unfolding. And so, is it true that there are angels incarnate on earth and in expression in the moment? This is the only thing that is of any concern to me.

Are you with me?

It brings the light sharply to focus in the moment. I am here with this equipment because it’s exactly the equipment I should have. It provides me with what is necessary for what I have to do, and I do it. These tools and this equipment have no say in the matter whatsoever. They simply accept the One I am. That’s what is called the restoration, isn’t it? And by this means there is restoration. I do not judge anyone or anything. I accept all those who come to me. I accept all the circumstances that come to me. Isn’t that the most sensible thing to do anyway? You can’t get out of it. Of course you can try to resist people coming to you, or to get rid of circumstances.

I love the One I am. I know the One I am in the person of my King. I differentiate the One I am in the way that I can do it by reason of this equipment, these tools. And I trust we are all in agreement in this matter. My King is the KING of Kings. My Lord is the LORD of Lords. There’s no distinction; there’s no separation. It is all one. I have no human nature life of my own whatsoever. There is nothing I must have in the human sense. I am present now on earth in this great variety of equipment and tools. Useful. Let’s be sure that these are used for the purpose that I have chosen them.

Can we abide in heaven, so that we are in position to consider heavenly things? We have considered a lot of earthly things, and there has been a certain amount of misunderstanding, lack of understanding, of earthly things. Do we finally come to the point where we can begin to consider heavenly things because the “I” which is present here individually is in heaven? When we are in heaven we can consider heavenly things and we may know what the creative process is. We may be aware in the moment always of what rightly is finding expression because I am present.

We abide in heaven. There the truth is known, oneness is known. When all the earthly elements are set aside, what a wonder, what beauty it is to be in heaven and to become aware of all that is awaiting revelation from heaven in the earth. That revelation comes because the light shines, and it is revealed in form in a multitude of ways. We judge no one. There is no judgment, because the creative process causes all things to work together to perfection, and that’s enough.

I am the creative process.
