Vision

As is generally recognized, the forces of evil are strong in the world, and a host of human beings think to have their own way regardless of the way and will of God. However, we must remember that God truly works in mysterious ways His wonders to perform. Human vision that ignores divine vision always plays into the hands of the Lord, even though it thinks to fight against God. Human ingenuity is pitted against the wisdom of the Almighty in the game of life, and because human beings count themselves to be many, they think to win. "The mills of the Gods grind slowly, but they grind exceeding fine." Now, with the atmosphere clearing somewhat, the importance of the various moves in the game of life can be more easily seen.

It has been repeatedly emphasized in the Third Sacred School that all people who are honestly seeking to better the conditions of the world are instruments of the Lord through whom certain phases of His will are accomplished. No human being can fully comprehend and measure all that is being accomplished through the millions of persons in the world who are standing for the highest and best that they know. The simple truth of the matter is that the ungodly, through their lust for power and wealth, are constantly supporting, financing and encouraging the progressive developments by means of which their own defeat is made most certain; and no matter how clever they are, no matter how they connive to nullify the Law of Cause and Effect, and no matter what places of power they may now be able to attain, the laws of reality are ever working to bring forth the victory of truth and justice.

There is no need for the righteous to fear the forces of evil, if they remember to be "wise as serpents, and harmless as doves"; but there is great need that the vision of the faithful ones shall be so opened that they may see and recognize the hundreds of thousands of the "angels of the Lord" that encircle the globe from pole to pole, working through human forms, in high places and low, to bring forth the manifestation of reality in every realm of life; for the earnest student of the School will remember the oft-repeated statement that when evil falls away it will unveil the real. The real is there. The real is being caused to manifest in every sphere of world activity that is attuned to constructive vibrations, and all evil vibrations are working inexorably to destroy those who have sold themselves to evil.

Human beings find and see that which they look for. Human beings partake of that in which they have dominant interests. Human beings move in the direction of their attention. Therefore an individual's thoughts center in his field of vision, his words spring from the fountain of his interests, and his actions reveal the course that is set by his attention. Let each one see himself in the light of this truth, that if he be able to stand revealed in the light, he may see others with the clarity of true understanding, which is essential if the aspiring one would prove himself to be as wise as the wisest expression of the serpent of the human mind. And only thus can he so live that he is actually as harmless as the dove of peace that must first be at home in his own heart.

The fire of divine love is burning in all the earth, and that cleansing fire shall surely reduce all evil to ashes under the feet of those who walk in the way, the truth and the life.
