Electrical Substance And The World I Create
Martin Cecil October 24, 1982 a.m.
Once more we have the privilege of standing together in heaven. Thus we may participate in creating all things new. Here are two verses from the 1st chapter of the Book of Job. You have heard these words read many times before, but this is the first time they are being read this morning: “Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them. And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.”
As I have read these words to you you have shared with me in the creation of a picture in consciousness. There are some little black marks on a sheet of paper in front of me. Somehow or other those little black marks have been used to create a picture for all of us. Remarkable, isn't it? Some might say there are smudges of ink on some sort of emulsion made from wood. These things can be described in various ways, and that is what they are; but with our capability, and the equipment we have, we have been able to create something which certainly transcends the smudges of ink. I use this as an illustration to indicate the creative ability which we share; we share it with many other people. There may be those who can read only Arabic, we'll say, who might take note of these little squiggles on the paper, but they could hardly be used to create what we have seen and what we understand from what we have seen. Clearly, then, we have the facility for creation.
We are aware that all things do need to be made new. How is it then going to be done? Because some mythical god somewhere reaches down with his finger and produces a new creation? That is a very fanciful idea, isn't it? when the means by which it may be done is sitting here this morning. Perhaps this grouping is not the only means there is, but certainly we are the ones who are here and consequently have the opportunity to bring forth a new creation. We sometimes speak of the earth as being composed of three levels: physical, mental and spiritual. But when we begin to look at the matter, according to the mental view of things at least, we have become aware of something rather different in these days. The physical earth, even of our own bodies, is composed of what are called atoms. These atoms are put together in various combinations; but the basic substance of what we describe as the physical realm is supposed, at least according to this theory, to be made of atoms. Atoms themselves are composed of something presumably, describable as electrical charges and electrical fields.
The words "electric" or "electrical" describe something too, which is unknown. We could substitute the word "electric" for "unknown", because nobody really knows what it is. It can be utilized in various ways for human purposes. This is done, of course, but what it is that is being used nobody knows. So we have a state of affairs fundamentally composed of electrical charges and electrical fields, whatever they are. We do not have the ability to discern with our senses electrical charges and electrical fields. I suppose we do if we get an electric shock, but this is a very limited range of experience in the direct sense. So to make it more useful, presumably, and to make it more interesting anyway, we have the ability to translate these electrical charges and electrical fields into a world—a world which is also a dwelling place.
We have translated these little black marks on the page into a picture, but we have done far more than that. We have translated this electrical world into a world of form, color, aroma, taste, touch; and we then assume that this is what it is. But we really know what it is. It is electrical charges and electrical fields. This is not to say that we have no business translating it into the world. That is why we are here. We have that creative capacity; we can do that. Marvelous, isn't it? We can see, then, that the fact of the matter is that we have created the world. We didn't create it out of nothing; we created it out of electrical charges and electrical fields, whatever they are. And having created it, we then found ourselves lost in the world of our own creation. While making this creation—which we all have done; we have all shared in it; we all continue to share in it as long as the world as we know it exists for us—we may have jumbled up somewhat the electrical charges and the electrical fields. But the basic, substance could we call it? for sake of a word; it isn't really substance as we know it—but the basic substance of creation is in a way quite intangible, and it isn't at all what we make it into, any more than these little black marks on this page are the picture which we see. We simply created that ourselves. We have the ability to do this, utilizing the English language. Other people do it in other ways, but with everyone it is basically the same process, a process of creation.
If we are really aware of this as being so, then we may clearly know that we share the ability to create. It is not something that is unknown to us. We are doing it all the time: creating beautiful or ugly things out of electrical charges and electrical fields. Interesting, isn't it? The world, the universe, which we have thus translated only exists as long as there are those who are present to translate it thus. It could be said, looking at it simply from the standpoint of human beings, that if human beings ceased to exist then the world which they had created would likewise cease to exist—not the electrical charges and the electrical fields; they would still be there, but there would be no facility to create what has been created in the consciousness of human beings. The mind tends to get a little unsure of itself, and possibly somewhat afraid, looking at things from this standpoint. Perhaps we are in position to do so without the necessity of becoming fearful, because it is the fact anyway. We can't get out of the situation. Man was created in order to create. We might say that man was created in order to make possible a new creation for God. But then we use the word God and we don't really know what that is either. If we see how perfect this human facility is for creating something which might well be all beautiful, all functional, all living, out of a matrix of electrical particles, electrical charges and electrical fields, then that is tremendous. What ability we have! Of course we don't have it as though we ourselves produced it. It is inherent isn't it? Intrinsic. We all have this ability and we all use it without having been aware of what we were doing.
As we have come along the way we have awakened to many things. We have looked at this before, but probably didn't see it quite in the way we are seeing it now. But everything within the range of human experience has been created by reason of human beings. The substance out of which it was created was there regardless of human beings, but the creation that has emerged out of that is there because of human beings. It is present in their consciousness. It is an interpretation, a particular interpretation, of these electrical charges and electrical fields and it is up to us as to what the nature of that interpretation shall be. We might recognize that there has been what could be called a misinterpretation, a very mixed-up state, mixed up in the sense that what was originally there in the way of electrical charges and electrical fields has been mistranslated. But in doing that the electrical charges and the electrical fields have been influenced so that there is a jumble, a very mixed-up state. We can acknowledge that. It is the only state we now experience, so it must be accepted the way it is if there is the expectation that it might be retranslated, reinterpreted—recreated, in other words.
One must start, always, with what is present—in this case what is present in the consciousness of human beings; that is where the re-creation needs to occur, so that there might be a consequent retranslation of the electrical charges and the electrical fields which are discernible to human beings. We may perhaps understand that there may be electrical charges and electrical fields which human beings were not created to interpret. We live in an immense universe, even according to our interpretations, and there is far more around than is contained even in our Emissary philosophy!
But we have a certain range where we belong, where it is our responsibility to create. This responsibility to make the required interpretation is possible because we are composed of the electrical charges and electrical fields, in the realm where we belong. We have that ability. We were made that way. And whether we like it or not we have been making that translation. The way we made it didn't suit us much of the time; we thought it should be some other way. But of course we didn't realize that we ourselves had made it that way, nobody else!—because the interpretation is in our own consciousness as individuals.
Now we have shared an interpretation; I suppose, agreed upon some of the things anyway. But the basis upon which a true translation, a true interpretation, might be made has been largely lost, obscured. Our concern has been to return the facilities for translation to the means by which a correct translation may be made, and consequently the true world once again be created. The creation of the true world requires a right interpretation of the electrical charges and electrical fields, but also a willingness to let those electrical charges and electrical fields which have been distorted in whatever measure be brought back into alignment again. As long as they are distorted it is impossible to make a correct interpretation. The interpretation is bound to be distorted. There are two elements here. The primary one is related to allowing the electrical charges and electrical fields to be restored to their true design. Then when that is done it becomes possible to make the correct interpretation. But until that is done you can't make the correct interpretation. It will always be out of kilter in some way.
Human beings have been very much engaged in the endeavor to change their interpretation, without perhaps realizing that this was what they were doing, so that the form of things might conform to the particular view they had of what would be beautiful, satisfactory, pleasing. Unfortunately, because the electrical charges and electrical fields which composed human beings was out of whack, the view as to what this delightful form of things would be has been contradictory, to say the least, and there has been consequent conflict between human beings. So there is something to be done in a personal sense, so that the composition of this electrical substance might be restored to its true design, which would then be available to be reflected in the world which is thus created. But to try to change the world, which human beings themselves create, without changing the electrical substance could never achieve what was anticipated. It would always bring conflict. And while people have been engaging in this sort of activity with the best of intentions for millennia, the end result is confusion added to confusion, and what has been called Armageddon, at hand—conflict, universal conflict, in the consciousness and consequent experience of human beings. If you have a nuclear holocaust, that is what has been created by human beings; obviously so, isn't it? even when viewed from the very limited perspective of the human state. No one else but human beings have produced the nuclear weapons. God didn't do it! The mistranslation of somewhat distorted electrical substance has produced the world, and this has been done by human beings individually and collectively.
As we have come along the way, we have begun to understand many things, to see with a new perspective. Why would this be, do you think? What makes that possible? Was it our own sweat of the brow?—we studied so earnestly, so rigorously, burning the candle at both ends. I don't think too many have done this actually. No, something has been happening to reestablish the true animating design that is present in the electrical substance, so that there might come again the ability to make a correct interpretation. As I say, it is impossible to make the correct interpretation while this electrical field is out of whack. All that can be done is to make interpretations out of whack, and that is the world: out of whack.
So there is something to be done with respect to this electrical substance, the animating design of it, which has been mixed up by human beings in their misinterpretation of what originally was a true world. Misinterpreting the electrical substance so as to produce a different world also interfered with the electrical substance which was in the immediate vicinity of human beings. I don't think it had too much effect in the larger picture of things, but where human beings are it certainly has had that effect. There is a distorted state. We have said, for instance, that the pneumaplasmic substance—what is that, do you think? the electrical substance—which is closest to the human consciousness has been distorted. And because of that the interpretations have been wrong and produced in human experience a lot of tribulation. The endeavor has been to try to correct that tribulation, which is merely the result of the disturbed electrical substance close in the individual's experience. The main body of that electrical substance has not been disturbed. Human beings only have the ability to mix up what is right next to them.
We have been concerned to let this be cleared. We have talked a lot about this, and about the clearings that are coming and happening. Well there is some little bit of truth in there. But it is not coming because human beings have applied themselves to make it come. It is coming because there is a creative influence at work relative to the electrical substance so that this might be adjusted into a truer design, and to the extent that this was done we ourselves, as individuals, have found that our outlook has changed. Human beings who are usually inclined to boost their own egos say, “Ah, now I am ascending up so that I can see things with greater clarity.” But the fact of the matter is that the person hasn't moved. There has just been an influence at work clarifying this close electrical substance so that the true design might again begin to animate it, and consequently consciousness changes and we see things differently. We are beginning to make a new interpretation of the world.
We no longer assume that the world is the way everybody is inclined to see it—of course it is changing for everybody, in fact, but the way everybody has been inclined to see it—cannot be made in any other way. We don't assume that at all, because we recognize it is a very fluid thing actually, related to our own consciousness and the interpretations that are made therein. If we think of it in terms of what we have translated as physical form, then there is tremendous effort required to get any sort of change to come. And things have reached such a point now that it really is dawning upon many, many people that it is quite impossible to sort it out. There are some who still cling to their superstitions of old, anticipating that by all this human effort things are going to be straightened out somehow. But for many there is the reaching of a point of what one might describe as desperation—utter futility; what's the use, it's hopeless! Well that sort of attitude is looked upon as not being at all commendable, and so there are those who try to hype things up a bit so as to bring assurance to people that, “Really, this can be done,” because if everybody were to accept the fact that nothing can be done, well everybody would be inclined to commit suicide. So it doesn't come quite in that way. And we don't need to be too eager to convince people that nothing can be done, because they would be left with nothing.
There is something to be experienced in consciousness, a change occurring in consciousness, and if it occurs in us first, then we have a particular responsibility in this regard. And it has been occurring, so that we live in a different world to what we lived in we'll say ten, twenty years ago. “Well,” you may say, “time marches on and changes come, and certainly it is a different world. We now have aircraft and all this, TV.” I'm not talking so much about that—although that is an interpretation, mind you—but about the way that the world is handled, about the way we behave, in the recognition that our behavior relates very directly to the quality and nature of the world in which we live. I think even that could be agreed to by anyone who thinks about it. Human behavior has certainly deteriorated, hasn't it? At least it is more visible now as being destructive and therefore as producing the world in which we live, but it could work the other way too.
Certainly as the electrical substance right next to us begins to be sorted out, put together in the way it belongs, because there is a certain willingness to let that happen, then our vision, our outlook, our understanding, changes. And we rejoice in the change but we don't take credit for it. We stay humble. Something happened to us. I wouldn't see anything gained by inquiring too deeply as to why it happened to us. Accept the fact of it. This is the way it works. There is an acceptance of things as they are, with an understanding as to why the world is the way it is, and besides that, an understanding as to how the world can be recreated. It is recreated because there is a change in oneself. From one's own standpoint it is not recreated because there is a change in one's neighbor, just in oneself! One is experiencing one's own state of consciousness, whatever that is, and as that is transformed, to that extent the world is transformed. And if we assume, on the basis of the translations we have been making, that our world is populated by others, then they will be transformed, but only because one is transformed oneself. One then becomes aware of things the way they are and the true world is thus created. And that true world is populated by true people. But it all happens by reason of the transformation in one's own personal, individual experience. One may say it is done alone, with nobody else there but you.
Behold, I create all things new! The word wasn't, Behold “we” create all things new. Behold I do it! It is only when a person reaches the point of accepting that responsibility that anything creative really begins to happen. As long as you are waiting around for someone to change, or for circumstances to change, or for whatever to change in the world the way it now is, no creative restoration can occur. We are all responsible for our own worlds. Did you ever hear that? You didn't believe it. That's right, you didn't! But there it is, it is the truth. And until one assumes that responsibility, so that one's expression is aligned with the true design of the electrical substance, only then will the world change, the world of one's own creation. No one else made it! Someone else may agree with you and say, “Yes, the world is the way you see it.” But that other person won't really see the world the way you see it, even though there may be little things here and there with which there is agreement. Never mind what anyone else thinks or says. Let the world be recreated because you do it, you allow that alignment, of which you are increasingly becoming aware, the nature of it, the quality of it, the behavior which emerges because of it. This is the changing experience of the electrical substance being brought into alignment, so that on that basis you can proceed, in the expression of living, to allow this to permeate what your world heretofore has been in your consciousness. Then that world changes.
This is the creative process. It seems like nonsense to a person who imagines that the only way to change the world is to get an army together and go out there and lop off the heads of all the evil people. Well, they are hard to find! Either that or there are so many of them there would be nobody left. So let's leave that nonsense and allow the world to be recreated in the way it can be recreated. There isn't any other way. We share some measure of understanding, at this point, that it is our own living, our own behavior, our own awareness of the way to handle things, that allows the changes to be wrought. It is never, “Well somebody will do it.” What do I do? That's the only question that any individual has to answer. If we think of it in terms of questions and answers, that's it! And no other question needs to be asked, because we're not rightly in the business of asking questions; we're in the business of providing the answer. “I will demand of thee, and answer thou me” is the attitude of the Lord toward each of His angels. You give the answer! Most people are expecting the answer from the Lord, or from somebody. Maybe somebody just simply represents the Lord. “Oh the answer is going to come from Jesus.” If there is any answer, it comes from you and from me, each for ourselves.
So we rejoice to share in allowing this experience to be known. We are not anymore superimposing on it the futile endeavors that are current in the human view of things. It doesn't work that way! So we stop being futile. If we stop being futile we stop feeling futile. As long as we are being futile, well it is natural that we should feel futile. Remember that, when you feel futile. Let us naturally be what we are, and behold, the word is spoken, “I create all things new.”
